Meanwhile on Twitter: Socialites Huddah Monroe & Shee Waruinge Told They Are A Total Disgrace To Their Mothers

Just days after an epic cat-fight between socialites Huddah Monroe and Shee Waruinge, the two are once again on the spotlight for all the wrong reasons. According to an anonymous concerned Twitter female user, the two have been using their sexy bodies (having been voted among the sexiest socialites) to gain fame.

Posing as a guest writer on Gathukimundu (a famous blog for its witticisms) the Twitter chic did not mince her words about the two socialites. Check out;

A LETTER TO SHEE AND HUDDAH, AND ANY OTHER “FAMOUS” FEMALE WHO USES HER INNER PARTS TO GAIN FAME

Okay, I write this letter out of compassion and empathy. It is not a letter that is going to ask you to change your ways, you are past changing. I am just asking you to take time and re-evaluate your principles and morals, your womanhood and your dignity. I know after reading this letter you will respond by calling me the “C” and “P” words. My poor ears.

You see Shee and Huddah (I hope that is how you spell your nicknames), a woman is not judged by how much dirt she can spew from her mouth, but rather by how she can use her mouth to calm, motivate and correct someone else. You probably do not know this because you use your mouths for other purposes; can I now calmly use the “D” word? Other than eating, talking and drinking, the mouth can be used to perform other duties; as I have come to learn from a number of your tweefs. Let me try to use my rhyming talent here: you can eat or sh*t (excuse my language) using your mouths. I see you chose to use your mouths to sh*t.

You talk about sex, how you were f**ked (again, excuse my language) by politicians, rich men and you compete to see who has had more snakes in her hole(s). When did spreading your legs become a contest? And when did it become a privilege to know that you have spent more hours in different men’s beds than you have in a classroom? You may gain a few followers on twitter by engaging in name-calling and abuses and by a few, I mean that 2000+ followers is not a reason to sell your dignity. Besides, who said that vulgarity is the gateway to fame? Look at A Kenyan Girl’s, Mercy Murugi, Winnie Mitchel’s, Julie Gichuru’s twitter accounts. They have more followers than you do. Do they engage in silly tweefs and fights to get famous? Oh, and they did spend time in class by the way.

Darlings, when you are a woman of value and virtues, if your mama taught you any, then obscene words are a no-go zone. Remember, as you mention another woman’s “P” and “C”, you also have the same parts lodged somewhere between your legs. In case you did not know, a woman is made of respect; a woman is to be respected. Respect starts with respecting yourselves before others can respect you. Those numerous men asking for your “P”, do you think that they respect you? You know, anything that comes cheap attracts attention. Why should I be bothered to buy a pair of shoes for sh5000 while the same shoe can come at a throw-away price of sh.500? Unfortunately, the problem with such cheap stuff is that I know that I can pick up another on the streets, so I lose interest pretty first.

So, really what this whole letter is trying to tell you is that you are a let-down to your mothers and the values they taught you. Did your mothers teach you to display your inner stuff in the faces of everyone? When did mama’s little princess turn into a “B*tch”, again excuse my language. Shee, what is a good girl doing tweeting this>> “Peter Kenneth looks like he’d lick my P Spick and span!! Yeah! I said it!”

Sorry, I forgot, you roll with the “bad girl” crowd. Problem is, you do not know how to be bad. A bad girl is not slutty (except when in the bedroom with her MAN), a bad girl does not have to mention the “P” to be branded bad. A bad girl can hold her own, which I am sure you cannot.

I do not plan to engage in a tweef with either of you because I would lose, hands down. But then, I am a woman brought up with principles, and I do not intend to water down the values passed down by my mum by looking for fame in the wrong ways.

In the meantime, my dear girls, you can be as vulgar as you want, it is your life, your TL, your account. Save for the silly tweefs you engage in, I would never have known that you exist. Now and I know and you can rest in peace knowing that YOU ARE FAMOUS.

Love,

Concerned Twitter Female.

Marya Has Already Lost The Weight She Gained Last Year(PHOTO)

Last year, Marya went through some troubled times, like when she had a public wardrobe malfunction, and when she was dumped by her Tanzanian boyfriend, which, according to her neighbours, led her to go on an eating binge, and stay inside the house. This led her to gain a lot of weight. Pulse even wrongly speculated that she was pregnant. This is a photo of her during this period(notice the double chin):

Now it is 2013, and Marya seems to have turned a new leaf. She has slimmed down, as can be seen in this photo which she recently proudly uploaded to Twirra:

What do you guys think of this? I know a lot of her fans prefer chunky women, while some say a weight loss is always good for your health. Leave your interesting or creative thoughts on the matter below:

A Documentary About Kenyans on Twitter in the Works

Social networking has become integral to the lives of many (research shows it’s harder to resist than sex), to zoom in on Kenya; users of social media represent the most influential and economically able section of the population. This number continues to grow especially as access to the Internet’s tool of choice, the mobile phone, makes astronomical inroads even in areas considered remote.

This tremendous growth of social media in business and communication has necessitated us to conceptualize a TV documentary on this industry dubbed The Social Kenyans. This documentary will feature outstanding social media enthusiasts and influencers, developers, artistes, bloggers, industry analysts, key people and organizations as well as memorable events that have made significant contributions and at the same time appreciate and acknowledge those who have immensely contributed to the growth of social media in Kenya.

Kenyans Respond to Jimmy Kimmel’s Offensive Clip

This is an initiative of SocialPRO Clubs under Social Edge Africa whose core objective is to teach, educate, create awareness and impart knowledge and skills of various disciplines of social media and platforms to the public. This documentary is in line with the mission of the clubs whose mandate is to develop a talent pool with solid understanding of new media to bridge the knowledge gap and demand there is today for people with skills and expertise in various disciplines of social media especially.

Kenyans on Twitter Rebuke the Government

This documentary will mainly have five parts as demonstrated below.

Part one; The past, history and growth (Key events, growth in stats, people, factors and major players that have contributed to this astronomical growth).

Part two; The current – Adoption in Business & Communication (Who is/has done what and where on social media in the recent past, the campaigns and other notable efforts on social media). Plus the integration of social media into business operations and departments across various industries and sectors and NGOs in the economy.

Part three; The people and entities (influential social media enthusiasts, developers, bloggers, social media managers, artistes, creatives and designers who have been behind some of the greatest concepts, campaigns, initiatives and trending topics to share their stories. This is meant to get the public to learn how they do it, to inspire and expose others to the opportunities, possibilities as well as explain the skills needed, education and what one requires for certain careers in new media.) and organizations (digital, mobile and other agencies) that are major players in this space

Part four: The threats, challenges and best practices. Here we get expert opinions on ethics, etiquette and best practices approach as well as look at the threats and actions or behaviour that may lead to legal actions. We shall also highlight on the systems, policies and guidelines in place in various institutions (government, private sector and not for private organizations). We’ll also feature common challenges brands face and get expert opinions. This part seeks to promote responsible ways of engaging on social media as well as educate Kenyans on social media etiquette and ethical ways of communicating online for societal good.

Part five: The future finally – we’ll look at the future of social media in Kenya and in Africa generally. Here we shall get opinions from the public, industry analysts, government institutions, and major player’s e.g. mobile service providers, universities on probability of offering courses or majors in new/social/mobile media and basically major players in the growth of this industry. We shall also focus on how to overcome the threats and challenges as highlighted in part four.

Waititu Trends Worldwide on Twitter

While face-to-face and traditional media is just as important as it ever was, now we’ve got new tools and platforms that let us tighten bonds with our key publics. Thus I think it’s safe to say that brands and individuals investing in better having direct contact with their publics that were previously unreachable now will most definitely have an advantage over those that wait and see what happens to this social media.

Another hot BUSTED episode! This time, a man cheats on his wife with her mother

He should have gone for the cougar in the first place. It’s always the better choice. Atleast he now knows.

So, after years of marriage, this funny man now thinks that the fruits hanging from his wife’s mother are ready for harvest. And so he set out, in his quest to yield the most from the aged Mchungwa.

Apparently, this has been gong on for quite a while but the wife only started suspecting foul play just recently. At first, she thought that her husband was cheating on her with a younger woman. She was right about the cheating part, but dead wrong on the clande’s age.

Things started getting really weird when her mother dressed in her most revealing outfits and applied serious make-up as soon as she heard her son-in-law was visiting. At times, according to the wife, they even stepped out of the house for some house to go have dinner at restaurants. Really lame for the wife to let that happen by the way, but nevertheless, I shall not go in on her seeing that she is the victim here. Hella funny though.

She then called Classic’s Ciku Muiruri on BUSTED to confirm her worst fears. It came out positive. Her husband was indeed, infact, has been for a while now, sleeping with her mother. Wait, it gets worse. As Ciku played her role as the mother’s best friend desperate to get what she (mother/cougar) was getting, the husband was ready to take her (best friend) to bed too.

If that isn’t messed up, I don’t know what the phrase means.
Catch it all below.

How Patrick Quarcoo Built His Billion Shilling Media Empire + Some Tips For Other Entrepreneurs

Patrick Quarcoo. Never heard the name? Well he is the Founder and CEO of Radio Africa Group, which is the company that runs KISS 100, Classic 105, X FM, Radio Jambo, East FM, the Star newspaper and KISS TV. He is a Ghanaian-born man who came to Kenya from Reuters Uganda in the 90s to start up a media company. He spoke at a Mindspeak conference about his experiences, like the time Radio Africa tried to buy out the Standard, and the time Nation Media Group allegedly double-crossed the Star newspaper. We found out that Radio Africa makes 800 million a year, which should certainly put the valuation of the company at over a billion shillings. This is how he did it:

During the Q&A segment of the talk, Patrick was asked by a member of the audience, “I just wanted to know how you went along your course so that any one of us trying to do the same can think of how to take it on.”

Patrick Quarcoo, known as PQ by those in media, quickly replied:

” William(a business partner) knows I am a compulsive business plan writer. Like for the Nairobi Star project, the financials were 23 pages. And that was just the basic financials, without the simulations of what would go wrong, and if it went wrong, what would we do. I think too many of us go into businesses on a wing and a prayer. I believe you can model any business. I may be wrong, but that’s what I believe. Typically I start with the industry data, cut it up year by year, segment by segment, focus on the basic industry you are in. Look at what ecological and other social changes that impact that industry. Where will they take it?”

He was really passionate about the subject. PQ continued:

“So you need to do all these forecasts. You need to do your numbers like crazy, because what I have found over the years is that bank managers are actually human beings. At the end of the day, it’s still a decision of whether they believe in you. The more you understand the numbers and crystallise it, the more people come closer to sharing your understanding, and the lesser the risk it is for them. I get too many people who come to me and say, ‘I’ve got this great idea’ and you say to them, OK show me the numbers, and they got half a page of numbers. Run the numbers, know the numbers,  get friends to query the numbers and push the numbers.”

On hard work, Quarcoo is of this opinion:

“But it’s not just a numbers game. I think it’s also the ability to deliver. Too many of us don’t know what it takes to start a business. When we started KISS 100, I used to wake up at 4 am, and I’d go home, if I’d gone home really early, at midnight.”

On business plans PQ’s advice was:

“Learn how to put up a business plan. It will save you so much headache. You can almost see where your business is bound to fail before your bank manager sees it. Run cashflows. Discount the cashflows. Do a 5 year discounted cashflow, so you know where you stand.”

On learning, this is what he said:

“I learnt all my media management on somebody else’s expense while they were paying me a salary. When your working for somebody, learn. Too many people get into a business, and all they care about is getting in at 9 o’clock, taking a salary, and buggering off at 5. When they leave, they don’t even think about the business.”

Mejja manages to hold the ‘most viewed video’ title for two months now

Guys from Calif Records have been holding it up in the mainstream media for quite some time now. As most of them leave the recording stable for better service offering studios, some of the oldest artistes are still loyal and are still making it in the industry.

Could this mean that the leaving artistes are just as Jua Cali termed them to be? Just Lazy? Seeing that the artistes who’ve chosen to stay are doing just fine? Anyway, that’s a topic that’s meant for the Ghafla Discussions, where no one holds back.

Just recently, Mejja released his latest video ‘over my ex’ which turned out to be entertaining as always, comical from start to finish as Mejja usually illustrates in all his videos, despite the video quality. Making stuff happen and being humble with what is at your disposal, now that is a real artiste right there.

‘Over my Ex’ video is still the most viewed on the Kenyan YouTube charts since late last month (25th January to be precise).

Holding it down at the number one spot on the YouTube charts is no easy task. Big up to the man Mejja.

Check out the video below. You just can never have enough of it. Can this guy get any more comical.

This is the last day for Big Brother Africa seven application

Only two months left to the kick off of the latest Big Brother Africa series which is set to be the hottest, most controversial and ofcourse, most interesting of them all.

As usual, the latter series always turns out to be way better and so this won’t be any exception. With the last season (StarGame) having African celebrities in Biggie’s House, you know they obviously had to raise the standards and structure of their game to maintain, or better yet, to make it more interesting than the StarGame which was a complete success by the way.

So, only one more day remains for the application of the seventh Big Brother Africa season which is set to start airing in May 2013.

All you have to do is fill in the application form that is available here before the deadline (14th February 2013). Requirements, you ask? Well, just be above 21 years of age.

Nairobi Half Life Beats Major Films to Win Best Picture

Nairobi Half Life may have missed out on being the first Kenyan to ever get an Academy Award nomination but being the second ever official selection is  worthy enough feat for the well reviewed debut feature by Tosh Gitonga.

It swept the Kalasha Awards last year but it also getting awards abroad. Film site, Take One, has named it 2012’s best film. Nairobi Half Life was in good company as it beat out some of the year’s most highly regarded features, including Holy Motors (which just won the International Cinephile Society best picture award this week), Martha Marca May Marlene (the film that introduced the world to the discovery of 2011, Elizabeth Olsen) and The Hunt (which won the best actor award for Mads Mikkelsen at Cannes last year).

Take One said this about their winning film: “The first ever Kenyan submission to the Academy Awards opened both Film Africa and the Cambridge African Film Festival in 2012. Telling the story of young Mwas, who journeys to Nairobi in search of fame and fortune, the seedy underbelly of the Kenyan capital soon traps him in a vortex of crime. Putting a distinctly Kenyan spin on a classic tale, TAKE ONE declared it “a heartbreaking saga that will cross cultural boundaries with aplomb” after its Film Africa screening.”

Nicholas Winding Refn’s crime caper, Drive, won the best picture the previous year. Also of note, is Ugandan documentary about gay rights activism was only beaten by 5 Broken Cameras in the documentary category, beating out Grandma Lo-Fi and Marley.

Take One is an independent film magazine that covers the best in independent and festival cinema year round. Every September, Take One is responsible for the full, comprehensive coverage of the Cambridge Film Festival.

Vice Presidential Debate on Tomorrow

Two days after the historical Presidential debate, the deputy Presidential candidates will now face-off in a live debate slated for tomorrow.

Unlike the presidential debate that was organised by the mainstream media, the vice presidents’ debate has been organised by mainstream Christian Church leaders, Christian media in conjunction with the national broadcaster -KBC and Daystar University.

The event aims to assess the extent to which running mates of the presidential candidates share the vision of their principals. The organisers have urged the public to send questions touching on morals, ethics and other concerns through their churches, ministers, Christian media and through social media.

The debate will be aired between 7PM and 8PM live on KBC TV and all radio stations owned by KBC. Other Christian media stations like Sifa FM, Transworld Radio, Radio Waumini, Hope FM, Hope TV, Fish FM, Radio Maria, Sayare Radio, Sayare TV, Radio Akicha, Radio Amani, Biblia Husema Radio and Shine FM will also air the live event.

A presidential debate similar to the one aired on Monday will also take place on February 19.The public can send their questions and concerns through a Facebook page; Presidential Debate 2013: The Christian Edge or to the email address presidentialdebate@daystar.ac.ke.

Avril Opens Up About Doing Peace Campaigns

We know Avril as one of the country’s biggest hitmakers. Her track with Marya, Chokoza, blazed through the clubs, Kitu Kimoja was one of the biggest tracks last year and her latest single, Hakuna Yule (Missing You), is definitely one of her best tracks yet and will surely be one of the highlights this year.

The Ogopa Deejays-signed singer has now poured her heart out about peace during the upcoming elections and her conscience as one of the artistes who have been performing during peace campaigns.

There are so many Peace Campaigns being funded left right and center in our community at the moment. I’ve probably been in one or two or three of them…parading for peace.

You know what makes me sad? I don’t feel so enthusiastic after. Do you know how sad it is to speak to someone but you can see that person’s eyes are trying to tell you that ‘you have no idea what you are talking about’. Makes you feel so helpless.

I don’t know what to say, what to do, have no idea what to change. Do I even have the capacity to make a change? Arms need to be taken away from warring factions….people need to stop killing each other but most of all we need to stop pretending that we don’t need each other.

We sing, we dance, then we go home but…then what? What is that extra thing?  My question(s) to myself today is..what more can I do? What am I not doing? Did I make anyone change their mind about being violent to their neighbour? How passionate am I about peace for my country?

This passion…it makes me cry for my country…it makes me pray for my country…cause I know I can talk and sing but the final decision rests on that person who can’t sleep when that concert is done cause he’s afraid for his/her family, and himself…

Capital FM’s latest cypher is out and features six lyrically hot rappers. Check it out (video)

Last year, Capital FM‘s Lyrical Wednesday brought together a couple of rappers for a freestyle session at the studio which was aired live.

The show is back again and doing it bigger and better than its last edition. This time they had more rappers in the studio and brought the heat back live on air.

Rappers Oksyde, Virus, 6 Foot, Kristoff and for the second time, Khaligraph Jones held it down for the Lyrical Wednesdays last week and I have to say that they did not fail to meet lyrical expectations.

Hosted by Capital FM’s Joey Muthengi, here is the latest video to the most recent Lyrical Wednesday.

Take a look.

Holy Dave Releases Brand New Track for 2013

Holy Dave recently recorded and has now released his first new single of 2013 today. The track, Chapa Kazi is a follow-up to Aki Pole/I’m Sorry.

In an attempt to give upcoming artistes a platform to get exposure in the industry, he has featured, G-Cho Pevu the Poet. Shooting of the video is already in progress. “I promise that the Bernsoft Production won’t be anything short of inspiring and entertaining,” says Holy Dave.

Chapa Kazi was produced by Jacky B, who also did the production on such tracks as DK and Jimmi Gait‘s Furi Furi, Eko Dydda‘s Psalms 23, Hopekid‘s Like A Dream and HD and Izzo’s Press On among others.

Holy Dave says Chapa Kazi is the ideal work song and adds, “Often in life we want to take shortcuts. We want to idle and still eat. We want to lead a mediocre life and still be successful. Despite the fact that we all know for sure that “easy come easy go”. Chapa Kazi encourages us to live a sustainable lifestyle and to work hard for what we want. It also acknowledges that we should commit our work to the Lord who is just and sees how hard we work.”

Listen to Holy Dave and G-Cho Pevu’s 2013 debut below.

Gloria Muliro Branded A Liar & A Cheat

Barely a week after Mr. Majani compared Gloria Muliro’s “Follow You” and Chris Tomlin’s “I Will Follow”, a rather disgruntled former fan (yes, former fan) of the Gospel artist has come out pointing an accusing finger at the artist for allegedly “stealing” the song. The “former fan” also brought around the Willy Paul saga. Take a look;

DEAR GLORIA MULIRO,
I am writing this as a former loyal and die-hard fan of yours. A former fan who looked up to you as an Icon, as a spiritual leader and as an honest and very talented artist. I loved your “sitolia” song and truth be told, it was very blessing not to me alone but I believe to everyone who has ever heard the song. When I heard about the rumors about you registering the “sitolia” song under your name blocking out Willy Paul, I thought that they were all just but rumors and that you would never do such a thing. Blinded I was by your so called “upright” stature. Seeing you in concerts and on TV praying and blessing God one would think that you are indeed filled with the spirit and not the “spirit”. When I heard your song “Follow you” I was so happy and saw that you heard really grown in spirit, in faith and in your music. Blinded I was again. I was shocked, embarrassed and even lacked words when I heard Chris Tomlin’s song “I will follow” play. O.M.G!! GLORIA OWENDI MULIRO!!! hata huna aibu!! How could you steal Chris Tomlin’s song and brand it as your own???!!!?? How stupid do you think Kenyans are? Do you think we don’t listen to international music?? Are you that desperate to make music and become a “Celeb”?? I thought you were singing for God and praising Jesus and not singing to become a celebrity. I am ashamed and disgusted by your lack of originality and fake talent! You need come out clean on this issue…labda Chris Tomlin alikuambia uremix ngoma yake na hatujui…we need clarification as your former fans.

Yours (I mean Not anymore yours) sincerely

Former Fan.

As if that was not enough, the “former fan” went as far as comparing the two songs by re-making a video and boy, the comments are not kind at all.

Just Like I-Club, Club Sylk Doesn’t Welcome Gays

The sad thing about bigotry is that it is contagious. And it would seem it’s spreading. Last year, we reported about how I-Club employees followed a gay-boy into another business premises and harassed him and it seems Club Sylk want to follow suit.

I can understand that management rezerves right of admission but they are however not allowed to harras clients. That means that while bouncers can bar you from entering the club, they cannot subject you to either humiliation or worse, put their hands on you.

The incident in question occurred a couple of nights ago when a dyke (lesbian) couple and two gay-boys were barred from entering the club by bouncers. this is how the news was carried by gay rights advocacy website; Identity Kenya:

angry_by_zalas.jpg

Jan 29 – A GAY and lesbian couple were allegedly barred from entering Club Sylk on Kimathi Street over the weekend and were informed it was because they were homosexuals.

Gay couple Peter N. and James P. and lesbian couple Janet K. and her partner Sylvia S. were reportedly turned away by bouncers at Club Sylk on Saturday evening when they tried to enter.

According to the four, the first not be allowed in was the lesbian couple who had gone to the bar at around 9pm but the bouncers, after frisking them, said they cannot enter since they ‘looked like lesbians’ and that the club does not ‘admit lesbians.’

‘We were shocked since there was nothing to indicate we were a couple,’ said Ms Sylvia.

As the couple stood outside the gate wondering what was going on, the gay couple tried to enter but was denied entry since they ‘looked like homos’. According to the two the bouncers used a derogatory term to refer to them. ‘They said we looked like fags and told us to leave saying the pub does not allow homosexuality,’ recounted Peter N.

The four later left the establishment and went to another pub. They reported the matter to Identity Kenya and several LGBTI activists.

The incident highlights the discrimination facing LGBT persons in accessing social amenities according to Brenda Sausage, a lesbian and social commentator.

‘There were previous reports last year that showed several clubs in the city (and some countrywide) that were directly barring anyone perceived or known to be gay from entering. Why Club Sylk has begun this archaic move is unfathomable,’ she said.

According to Ms Sausage, Club Sylk was one of the clubs that even as others barred LGBT patrons, ‘it remained neutral’ but was surprised at this ‘new’ development.

‘Just because you are two persons – men or women – entering a bar does not make you gay or lesbian. The security in the club discriminated against people based on their clothing or how they looked or interacted with one another. From the reports of the four nothing seemed to indicated they ‘acted’ or ‘behaved’ gay.’

Efforts to contact the management of Club Sylk to comment on this proved futile as our calls went unanswered by the time of going to press. We further could not establish if it’s the management or the bouncers who decided to bar the four.

Club owners need to learn that they are running a business and as Mahatma Gandhi put it, “The customer is king.” I’m not gay but i believe that they way the two couples were treated is appalling. That in itself has made me write off Club Sylk because i now know that the bouncers who humiliated them without provocation will not hesitate to either beat me or humiliate me because that’s how they get their rocks off! Discosting!

VIDEO: Kenyans Respond to Jimmy Kimmel’s ‘Offensive’ Clip

Late night television show host of Jimmy Kimmel Live has been making the unlikeliest people read tweets: from grandma’s reading Kanye’s tweets, toddlers reading 50 Cent’s tweets to celebrities reading offensive tweets about themselves.

When the comedian made Kenyans read (American) celebrity tweets, some of the very vocal Kenyans On Twitter went ballistic. Some saying that it might even have been racist. Check out that video here.

The guys at 10 Minute Fix have made a response video which makes light of the whole incident that some thought was offensive. They asked Americans to read tweets by Kenyans, which is basically asking them to read Swahili.

Want Bamzigi’s “Mutumia Morogi”? Why Not Check iTunes?

Bamzigi is a talented artist. there’s no debating that. His track “Mutumia Morogi” was a phenomenal electro jam that still has me and i know alot of you out there dancing to it to this day. The track was so many levels of subliminal genius!

How Bamzigi and Kora DKCK managed to infuse Kikuyu with sick electro beats is simply amazing. It wasn’t a screechy attempt or a half baked electro song, it was a fully fledged upto scratch electro track. And in a small way that fact is being recognised. You can now buy the track off iTunes. and according to some stats i got me mitts on, the track is receiving mad love from in Europe; Germany to be exact.

Bamzigi’s track “Mutumia Morogi” is so popular that it has an entire page dedicated to it while two other tracks: “Party” (which also features Kora) and “Thumbs Up” share a page. And that’s not all, Bamzi will be launching his album on iTunes latert this year but before that, he promises another musical offering that will be full “Mizuka” for all his fans. What that means is that while Party was a deviation from his Mizuka genre, the next track we’ll hear from him will be a return to the style of music he has popularised.

One word though about Bamzi: electic! His tastes are as unpredictable as Kenya’s weather.

And with that, here’s a link to Bamzigi’s Mutumia morogi on iTunes:

When Octopizzo did the ‘Bila Mic’ remix, it was the biggest collaboration of Kenyan artistes. Though the rappers did not contribute their individual verses at the same studio and at the same time, it was still a collaborative effort and turned out to be amazing.

Now, the track ‘Change’ is officially the biggest collaboration of the year, so far.

After Calif Records’ Ala C dropped his hit single ‘Walking class’ which topped charts for quite a while, he is now out to make another one and this time he brought an entire army with him.

Ala C has now collaborated with six artistes, all of whom are mainstream and currently doing it big in the Kenyan music industry. Rabbit aka Kaka Sungura, Jua Cali, Marya, Avril, Sanaipei and Jimwat. All in one track, featured by Ala C ofcourse.

The track is titled ‘Change’ and has just been released. Get to listen to the biggest collaboration of the year right here.

Truth Meter’s Willis Reveals How He Became a Leading Journalist

Truth Meter has risen to be one of the shows on TV that is worth looking forward to every Friday. So popular is the show that it is almost overshadowing NTV Bull’s Eye. Meet Willis Raburu, the husky voiced journalist behind Truthmeter. He recently spoke to Dorcas Karuana of Career Point about how he has managed to become an unrivaled brand in less than 3 years.

The towering journalist attributes three things to his success in the industry; good work ethics, excellence and working smart.

#Good work ethics
My father (Peter Raburu) taught me this while he worked as a Provincial Commissioner. I believe in diligence, team work and excellence. At Citizen, the team has helped me grow; for instance, Abdi Osman taught me the hamburger theory, where you start the story with back ground, then give the meat and end with what is expected. Franklin Wambugu, Mercy Oburu and Peter Opondo have been of great help among others.

#Excellence
My boss Farida Karoney, the Editorial director, taught me that success is not an event, it’s a way of life. People should know me not because I work for citizen but because of the way I use the platform given to me. I let my work should speak for me.

#Working smart
To go where nobody has gone, you need to do what nobody else has done. In Citizen, interns are not allowed to voice for their stories, however I did my first voice to camera within the second week as an intern. Thanks to my camera man Dennis Ochieng who encouraged me to do it and it did wonders.

Willis also added that he’s inspired God’s, grace, love and favour upon him apart from JCC’s Bishop Allan Kiuna who is his life coach. Willis is also motivated by Truth Meter fans who comment on the updates and have liked its fan page pushing it to over 10,000 likes.

Prezzo denies all!!!

The question on where Kenya’s Prezzo and Nigeria’s Goldie relationship stands, has baffled many Africans ever since they exited the Big Brother House.

Another thing to note however, is that never have these two ever been more secretive about their relationship before. Ofcourse it’s always been a game of ‘cat and mouse’ chase between the media and the two on this case, but never has it been this serious.

All these started after rumour came through that Prezzo and Goldie were to tie the knot last weekend.

So, Prezzo, shortly after these stories got too much, came out to deny everything according to sources.

This is what he had to say, “What? I’m really shocked to hear this. I’ve actually heard it for the first time from you. That’s a big lie though. If we were really getting married I would be in Nigeria or she (Goldie) in Kenya. Those are just fake stories created by blogs.”

Sauti Sol thrill fans at JKUAT, Voi (video)

When we say that this is definitely one of Kenya’s best bands, it’s not without scrutiny of their music and live stage performance as compared to their counterparts.

Sauti Sol have managed to grab both the attention and love of their listeners and this has in turn made every of their live concerts a view of admiration for other artistes.

Anywhere these guys hold it down, you can be sure they will bring the house down. The energy they discharge is phenomenal.

Check out their latest concert at Voi’s JKUAT.

The students could just not get enough of this boy band.

How Rufftone & GSU Made Their New Video (Photos)

Last week Gospel singer Rufftone released a peace song together with the GSU, The National Youth Orchestra, Tuvuke Peace Initiative team. The song, “Mungu Baba” reminds us that our country Kenya is bigger than any individual and has been received positively so far.

However a lot of effort was put into making the video; Rufftone and the entire GSU squadron travelled down to Naivaisha’s Hell’s Gate Gorge where they shot a scene of the video. Take a look at these behind-the-scenes photos;

The Feature Film Project is giving American audiences a chance to decide whether Kenya’s official entry to the Oscars can enjoy a theatrical run in their country. Should the fans vote for it on the Feature Film Project Website, it will show in 100 cinemas across the U.S.

The film will screen on 21st March in Phoenix, Arizona; Vail, Colorado; Orlando, Florida; Albuquerque, New Mexico; Columbus, Ohio and San Antonio, Texas among other cities, some yet to be announced. How Presidential Contenders Fared During The Debate

So the first televised presidential debate took place yesterday night and everyone else seems to have cowed about saying which of the candidates took the day. However, Nation Media Group’s Lee Mwiti ranked the aspirants in order of their performance. Take a look;

Mohamed Dida: A schoolteacher who joined the race spectacularly late, the political first-timer lit up the four-hour debate with his common touch, spiced with anecdotes that bordered on the comical. While he tended to rumble and be incoherent at times, Dida, 38, asked some basic but hard questions directed at the two perceived frontrunners, Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga, making them visibly squirm. Score: 4/10

Paul Muite: The 67-year-old lawyer who sought an injunction unless organisers included him. He had declared his candidacy early but then disappeared from the campaign trail only to resurface a few weeks ago. His intellect has never been in doubt and caused a stir when he flatly stated that it was not possible that the country’s grand coalition principals were not also facing International Criminal Court Charges. He performed well given he had nothing to lose and his short preparation time. Score: 5/10

Musalia Mudavadi: A composed—many say aloof – politician whose main campaign theme is that he is a safe pair of hands in the face of more hardline rivals, he looked decidedly colourless on the night as though he wished he were elsewhere. The 52-year-old belatedly stirred to life when discussing his policies on health and education, but by then it was already too late to leave a mark. Score: 5/10

Peter Kenneth: A suave, young politician with dashing looks and who has run a youthful campaign, he was fast out of the blocks selling his policies even before he had introduced himself, but then faded badly. He had a few shifty moments, like when he claimed he did not want ICC-indicted rival Uhuru Kenyatta struck off the ballot, but then insisted that Kenya was “bigger than all of us and not about individuals”. The 47-year-old limped home with some memorable broadsides at the dishonesty of tribally-inclined politicians and also showed good understanding of the national health and education problems, but with few specifics. Score 6/10

Uhuru Kenyatta: One of those believed to have the best shot at the presidency; he was articulate and had clearly rehearsed his policy lines well. However the deputy prime minister, 51, struggled to exonerate his campaign from charges of running on a tribal base, and didn’t help his cause further by confirming that the election was a referendum on the grave ICC charges he is facing. “Kenyans are fully aware of the charges I am facing,” he stated. In a veiled shot at fellow frontrunner Raila Odinga, he said disputes should be settled in courts, not on the streets, an allusion to the fallout over the disputed, and deadly, election of 2007. Score 6/10

Raila Odinga: The incumbent premier, the 68-year-old did well to fend off attacks by opponents over his stint as one half of a coalition government, blaming intra-government infighting. He memorably declared tribalism “a disease of the elite” but could not avoid taking potshots at Uhuru Kenyatta, charging that his chief rival’s campaign was intimidating smaller communities by bandying tribal numbers to prove their dominance. He generally enumerated his policies well, no doubt aided by experience at the head of government, but was unable to land a telling blow on his deputy. Score 6/10

James Ole Kiyiapi: A former permanent secretary in several government ministries, Kiyiapi, 51, gave a polished performance, drawing from his experience of beating the odds despite coming from a marginalised community (Maasai). He struck the right notes on governance but it may not be enough, lacking the staggering resources that some of his rivals command. He remains a breath of fresh air in Kenya’s cut-throat politics. Score 7/10

Martha Karua: The ‘Iron Lady’ of Kenyan politics, the feisty former cabinet minister probably got the edge the debate, as she sought to out her rivals’ rhetoric on tribal unity. In one riposte that drew cheers’ she declared that there was “no difference between a hungry Kikuyu and a hungry Luo,” in reference to the rival communities of frontrunners Kenyatta and Odinga.
She was firm on governance and had decent arguments on health and education, but also seemed a tad too eager to impress, interrupting others and harping on her own record. Strong on principle, the 57-year-old’s lone-ranger campaign has however struggled to make inroads on poll numbers, despite a raft of good policies. Score 7.5/10

Verdict: Despite what was an historic engaging debate that helped provide further insights on candidates in what is one of the most tightly contested elections in Kenya’s history, there are doubts if it would provide any perceptible shift in voter choices.

The talking heads at the TV stations remain convinced that opinion poll numbers will remain almost the same for all, with a runoff almost certain. However it certainly broke barriers, forcing leaders to discuss the near taboo-topics of tribal chieftains and the ICC while in the same room.

The second and final debate is scheduled for February 25th.
