Nax Vegas is Cupid’s next drop zone

Nax Vegas is now heaven for many revellers all over Kenya. It is now sacred ground for most party junkies and I do not blame them. All it takes is one night at this blissful area, and you shall never go back.

That is probably why Cupid has chosen it to be his next drop zone.

This 15th of February, just a day after Valentines, the Nax Vagas Dancehall Fest Affair will be going down at Nax Vagas and only two words can be used to describe what this event, titled ‘Cupid’s Drop Zone’ will be like… EPIC and CRAZY!

The Inferno Deejays will be holding it down through the night at this party which will be held at Taidys, Nakuru.

The MCs of the night will be Rapcha The Sayantist and Mike Mondo as they bring comedy to the party.

Entrance is only Sh. 200.

These are two of the most hilarious Kenyan eye-witness videos

As soon as the footage played on Kenyan TV news stations, these hot, scandalous and sometimes hilarious videos go viral as when they get on-line.

These two were no exception. Infact, when it comes to eye-witness footage, I think these two recent videos take the comical crown.

The first one has to be the Kasarani dude who is now sick and tired of the thieves terrorising them in their neighbourhood. You know, the guy now famous for the ‘I witnessed ni kama ndrama ni kama vindio ni ka movie…” phrase.

Here’s the video.

{youtube}o8dcFeTld0k{/youtube}

Second place goes to the guy who witnessed a road carnage, now famous for the phrase, “Ndeleva alitiririka kwa mto.”

Check out the video embedded below.

This comes at a time when our country is about to go into elections of the 4th of March.

Members include Frasha (Chairman), Lady Bee, Octopizzo, Size 8, KenRazy, Eko Dydda, Mimmo, Mbuvi, Zakah (Ukoo Flani Mau Mau), Alice Kamande, Juliani, Nonini, Wyre, MC Phillipo, Naswa crew (Citizen TV) among others.

On Saturday, 9th February the artistes met at the Safaricom Grounds in Jerusalem to play soccer with the residents and interact with them on a personal level. Check out photos from the event below.

This Valentines, get to fly with a kiss

Remember that first time you got the opportunity to kiss the girl you had always wanted? Maybe she knew about your feelings but preferred to remain friends, or, she was just waiting for you to step up?

Let me rephrase all that. Do you remember the first time you made it from the ‘friend-zone’. A lot of heroes have triumphed in this. getting yourself out of the friend-zone is no easy task my friend, especially when the lady in question is convinced, sorry, deceived that you are actually one of her closest friends.

Well, this party is all about that. Reminding you, actually making you re-live the moment you got your first kiss from ‘the one’. The party is dubbed ‘Kiss and Fly’ and is going down on the 16th of February (Valentines) from 9PM till morning.

On the decks will be the show stopper, DJ Mista Dru.

Entry is only Sh. 200 and all ladies that will make it before midnight, get in free.

BEEF! Collo, Octopizzo On The Receiving End Again

The beef season is here once again; this time pitting a budding artist from the lakeside of Kisumu, Jamtaa, against Collo, Octopizzo and all other self-proclaimed hiphop heads.

According to the artist, the move is aimed at “bringing sanity and respect to the Kenyan hiphop”. “I get so annoyed at how disrespectful the likes of Collo and Octopizzo crown themselves rap and hiphop kings respectively just because of a few hits under their belt,” ranted Jamtaa.

Confessing that he admires Octoppizo’s hustle, Jamtaa however says that it’s rather annoying and disrespectful to diehard hiphop fans for Octopizzo to claim that he is the king after only a year in the game.

“Collo claims to be the best rapper in Kenya but can u compare his flow to Kaligraph’s or maybe Kayvo k-force?,” poses Jamtaa adding, “The answer is a big NO!” He also alludes that Collo only came to the limelight after Nyanshinski left the group (Kleptomaniax) and the country. “Klepto was carried [sic] by Nyanshinski otherwise why did it fall after he left coz I remember Collo and Roba making fluke joints after that as Klepto but it was over for them,” indicates the Kisumu hiphop tsar.

He also quickly points out that, all said and done, for any true hiphop fan, the true hiphop kings in Kenya are KALAMASHAKA, K-SOUTH, UKOO FLANI, MAUMAU and the other founding groups. According to Jamtaa these legends made great hiphop tracks at a time when there was no money in the game, no channels to market their music and a very small hiphop fan base. It was an artist’s skill and dopeness of style that sold them to them fans.
“Remember PUNCHLINE KIBAO, DANDORA LOVE, DC NA SISI, NAIROBERY, NAIROBISM? Play those tracks and you’ll still get people dancing to them,” imparted Jamtaa adding, “So tell Octopizzo VOWELS is a year old but already out of the market. NO SHELF LIFE! To be a hiphop king u need to be diverse and have survived the test of time.”

He also stated that Collo and Octopizzo are a thousand miles behind the likes of KITU SEWER, LABALAA, ABBAS, BAMBOO, ZAKAH (WENYEJI) and JULIANI. Listen to Jamtaa’s diss track below;

Here’s What Octopizzo Thought of Last Night’s Presidential Debate

New Kiss 100 mid-morning host, Adelle Onyango, spoke to Octopizzo on air to ask him what he thought about yesterday’s debate. And here is what he said:

“Nothing fascinating like what I expected. I expected something like Obama and Romney last yeat. They didn’t ask each other what they did for the people, what they did for the country while they were in power. They just had comedians, someone like Dida. They gave us the same old story, what they’ve been telling us all along.”

When asked what he thought should have been addressed, he spoke about unemployment: “They go to rallies during weekdays and they see all those people who are attending those rallies. All those people are jobless.”

And on his expectations on the same debate, “They should ask some serious questions. It looked like they all knew what they were going to be asked.” And then he advised the youth on the upcoming elections, “What I can tell the youth is, piga kura, usipige mtu.”

POLL RESULTS: Citizen vs. KTN vs. NTV vs. K24. And the Winner is…

Yesterday, we held a poll asking you what your favourite TV station is. And the contenders were:

CITIZEN TV

Known for catering to the ‘mashinani’ audience mostly, this station revolutionized the local content scene with series like Inspekta Mwala, Tahidi High and Papa Shirandula. But do Ghafla! peeps feel such?

KTN

With a fully 3D newsroom, they are ahead in terms of technology. Their investigative reporters, led by John Allan Namu and Mohammed Ali risk their lives for their stories, driving large viewership for their documentaries.

NTV

This is by far the largest media house in Kenya in terms of revenue. With more than Kshs. 9 billion in annual revenues, Nation Media Group has all the money to play with in terms of research and development.

K24

This station once had the leading talk show in Kenya: Capital Talk, hosted by Jeff Koinange. He recently left the station, leading some to question how K24 would hold up, but they have been on a hiring spree recently, poaching talent like Tom Mboya, Belinda Obura, Lulu Hassan and others from their rival stations.

And then winner is: KTN

KTN. With over a third of the votes, it beat its closest competitor Citizen TV followed by NTV and K24 respectively. Here’s a rundown of how people voted.

KTN – 36.6%
CITIZEN TV – 29.3%
NTV  – 22.5%
K24 – 11.5%

One of Netherlands’ biggest and most celebrated bands, Chef’Special, last week gave Kenyans a performance of a life time. Rarely do we get to witness live performance from rock bands, especially one that plays a fusion of Rock, Funk and Hip-Hop.

The concert went down at the Sarakasi Dome on Saturday (8th February). Check out how it was.

Why Brookhouse School Was Chosen For The Presidential Debate

I know we’re all recovering from the hangover of yesterday’s hard-hitting first ever televised Presidential debate. However less attention has been given to the venue of the debate: Brookhouse International School.

Located near the Galleria shopping mall Brookhouse School is not just another learning institution. The institution is a member of the Round Square group of schools worldwide and is committed to the principles of democracy and civic education, which partly explains why it accepted to host the first ever presidential debate on Kenyan soil.

brookhouseThe debate was conducted inside a state-of-the art auditorium in the school’s castle-style building. The auditorium is known as Burudani Theatre and usually hosts theatre performances by the students (as seen in the photo on the left). The school is also located just a few metres from the Bomas of Kenya, which will be the tallying centre for the election results on March 4.

Brookhouse is designed to cater for the children of the who’s who in society from diplomats, CEOs of blue chip companies, businesspeople and top government officials, with parents paying between KSh.150,000 and Ksh.700,000 per term for each child.

It is also worth noting that when the new structures in the school were being erected, the management asked the students what designs they would like to which they suggested the design of Hogwarts (School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in Harry Potter). However, what stands out is that the school volunteered the venue to the organizers of the historic debate.

“Something Necessary is an intimate moment in the lives of Anne and Joseph. A woman struggling to rebuild her life after the civil unrest that swept Kenya after the 2007 elections claiming the life of her husband, the health of her son and leaving her home on an isolated farm in the Kenyan countryside in ruins, she now has nothing but her resolve to rebuild her life left.

A young man, troubled gang member who participated in the countrywide violence is drawn to Anne and her farm seemingly in search of redemption. Both, Joseph and Anne need something that only the other can give to allow them to shed the painful memories of their past and move on.”

Jay A Is Back Again But This Time, He has A Love Song

Kenya’s most hardworking artist is back with a new track for us all and seeing as it’s the month of love and romance, it’s only befitting that his new offering is a love song.

The track features everyone’s favourite crooner, Anto neosoul and is called “Pledge My Love”. the video for the track was done by Boomba Videos and i like the fairy tale setting they have tried to replicate. It follows the cliche theme of a princess and her prince charming only in this instance, the princess has eyes for another; a courtier.

The video opens with said princess riding home to her prince and his castle but as he stands at the door of his castle, we see that the princess indeed has eyes for another and the prince notices. watch the rest of the video to see how this saga unfolds.

Anto Neosoul delivers his part with such finesse that right off the bat you feel that this will be a mushy one. Jay A on his part hasn’t slowed down one step. His lyrics are top notch even though this is a love song and rappers usually allowed to slow down their word play and metaphors on soppy tracks. To be honest, on this track, hearing Jay A is reminiscent of a young L L Cool J. Remember the L L from “Around My Way”? if you don’t you should look for the video on youtube.

To me, this track is a sure win. Give it a listen below;

Kenyan’s Creative Take On The Presidential Debate! This Is Too Funny!

I had been waiting for it. Given all the hype and -at the eleventh hour- drama surrounding the presidential debate, i knew Kenyans were going to troll. And troll they have. And this is quite funny! Who says Kenyans are neither creative nor funny? Here are some examples of what Kenyans have come up with:

<from Nyambura Mwangi-Githinji>

LMFAO!!RESULTS……Dida:(distinction) kiyapi:(_____) Uhuru:(pass) PK: (credit) Karua: () Rao:(supplementary) Muite:(see me).”
And the Kiyapi gap means: Jaza pengo

The results are out! Please not that this not a scientific poll. After the debate yesterday, I asked who YOU thought won the debate. Results as at 8:00 am today are as follows.

Dida – 44.30%
Uhuru – 26.06%
Raila – 10.75 %
Peter Kenneth – 7.49%
Martha – 4.56%
Muite -2.93%
Mudavadi – 2.61%
Ole Kiyiapi – 1.30%

Thanks to all who participated and gave their views.

12th February 2013: Ten Things You Should Know This Morning

Today is just 2 days away from the day of love and romance–if you go for the mushy sought of things in life. Personally, the 14th is just a day for gross commercial debauchery, the financial waterloo for many a lover boy like our very own Adam Wagwau but away from that. Here are the top stories you need to know this morning:

#1. Did you know that the presidential debate that was the talk of the town yesterday and indeed today morning almost didn’t happen? Yup! Muite and Diba nearly scuttled the whole affair but everything was resolved and the debate held. Read about that here.

#2. Citizen has only had a precious few minutes to catch a breather and they are under fire again. Read about that as Jeff Omondi takes you through the details of the new threat they are facing.

#3. Mutahi Ngunyi is quite the trouble rouser. He has a knack for saying just the right words to get you off your rocker and he’s done it again. this time, Mista Majani takes you through why Mutahi Ngunyi feels that the presidential debate is just a waste of timer ergo a waste of resources.

#4. Size 8 made 7 million Kenya shillings in just 6 months. Find out how that was possible here.

#5. Churchill Live failed to air as scheduled and Jeff Omondi has the low down on the dark forces that interfered.

#6. At the recent Miss University beauty pageant held at Carnivore, politicians tried to ingratiate themselves to the revellers but that failed miserably. they got booed off stage. Read about how they made it rain only to be heckled.

#7. What does Size 8’s mum think of her skimpy stage attire? Find out here.

#8. Our photo of the day was of Ian Mbugua cross dressing. Make up was also involved…

#9. Here are photos of the presidential candidates arriving for the presidential debate.

#10. Lulu Hassan has opted to snub K24’s overtures and it seems she’d prefer to get into bed with Citizen TV instead. Read about that here.

Kenyan Soccer Player Brutally Attacked in the U.S.

A Kenyan soccer star, Dan Kapila, playing professionally in Division 2’s LA Blues, was attacked at his house as he was holding a party for his other team members.

It turned out that the aggressors were members of a rival team, Milano FC. Police have managed to arrest three of the predominantly Latino team members. The attack left him with a bloodied hand that needed stitches.

Dan Kapila, who is now a permanent resident in the U.S., went to the country to study but managed to get drafted into the team. He had previously played in the Kenya Under 19 team when Ghost Mulei and Mohamed Kheri coached.

Dan Kapila’s hand injuries will not hinder his ability to play but extra caution is being taken before he is cleared. Four other members of his team were stitched up and treated for small injuries before being discharged.

Presidential Debate Back On After The Inclusion Of Paul Muite And Mohammed Diba

Ladies and gentlemen, the debate is back on track after the organisers of the debate came to an amicable conclusion with Paul Muite and Diba after their successful injunction threatened the event that is meant to be beamed live.

That means that now, instead of 8 candidates, their will be 10 participants who will lock horns and engage each other on issues ranging from health care, the ICC and land. The debate will be aired at 6:30pm on all the television channels in Kenya and you don’t want to miss this ground breaking debate.

And this is how a rather talented photo-shopper has chosen to illustrate the inclusion of both diba and Muite:

Lulu Hassan Snubs K24’s Advances. Gets In Bed With Citizen Instead

So a couple weeks back, we reported that K24 had raided many media houses for their top talent, including anchors such as Tom Mboya, Belinda Obura and Lulu Hassan. Now yesterday, we saw Lulu Hassan make her first appearance on Citizen TV’s 7 o’clock news, meaning that the deal was sweeter on Citizens end.

This is a good coup for Citizen’s parent company, Royal Media services, because it goes to show that they can still hold their own against the financial juggernaut that is Uhuru Kenyatta’s K24. Will the media wars ever end? Who cares, more news for us! Drop your thoughts bel

Kenyan Replies President Obama’s Message to the People of Kenya

Last week the US President who also has Kenyan roots had a special message to Kenyans as we approach the elections. Less than a week later, a young Kenyan has chosen to reply President Obama’s message.

Thanking him and the American people for the friendship and partnership between the American people and the Kenyan People, he also reiterates on the need of the American government and other foreign governments to respect the wishes and will of the Kenyan people to elect leaders of their choice without the media propaganda, intimidation and threats from any foreign governments including USA.

How Nation Media Group Allegedly Double-Crossed The Star In A 90 Million Deal

We’ve been running a series on William Pike and Patrick Quarcoo’s mindspeak session. So far, we’ve seen that Classic 105, KISS 100 and co. make over 800 million a month, and that Radio Africa once tried to buy out the Standard newspaper, so now here is the story of how Nation Media Group double-crossed the Star newspaper(a product of Radio Africa):

According to William Pike, “When we did start the Star, we were going to do a more downmarket paper, and the Nation was printing us. Now, Uganda is a gentlemanly kind of country in my view. If you get robbed by a thief, they don’t hit you with a panga. They just take your money, say thank you and they leave. Here you get whacked with a panga.”

Will went on, “So, the Nation, they were printing us… we actually paid them a million dollars last year for printing. What did they do? A month after printing, they launched the Metro to try and put us out of business. Their customer. This is the sort of ruthless dog-eat-dog side of Kenya that I think is unhealthy. But, it was good for us because as soon as they launched the Metro, Patrick said that we will not be able to survive with these guys. We’ve got to raise extra money from our shareholders to buy a printing press.”

On the printing press acquisition, William Pike stated:

“We went to India, and we ordered a printing press, and we now have our own printing press. All the Indians were astonished. ‘You let your competitor print you? You must be mad!’ Lesson from India!”

To conclude, he said, “Our total investment in the Star has now been something like 3 million dollars. This has been a low cost business. The cost of the printing press has been about 1.75 million dollars. The Standard’s total cost of a new printing press and offices has been about 20 million dollars. If you look at the print quality of the Nation or Standard compared to the Star, I’d honestly say we have got the best print quality.”

Rabbit is Now an Ambassador for a Youth Expression Initiative

Tubonge is an initiative culminated by the need to overcome the inadequacy for the youth to express themselves. This is an initiative driven by the youth, for the youth and by the language they subscribe to.

Tubonge is a sheng word meaning ‘let’s talk’ thus indicating the letter and spirit of the initiative. The initiative is divided into three sections in order to adequately serve the interest of the youth in different levels;

1. Tubonge (freestyle) for the youth outside learning institutions, mainly the streets where most youths hang around.
2. Tubonge (safari katika) for the youth in high school where dance has been used to bring the young together for a platform to air views.
3.Tubonge (poetry edition) for the youth in tertiary learning institution mainly the universities and colleges.

Tubonge believes talking is the genesis of curbing the besetting vices that hinders youth development.

The initiative hopes to provide a platform for the youth to voice out their experience, views, challenges freely through the medium they fathom best and provide youth tailored solutions to the challenges they face in their day-to-day life.

Rabbit a.k.a Kaka Sungura is the ambassador of the project. He has a following in the target area mostly because of his poetic delivery of material. He also applies to the project for most of his works, talks the youth language and they relate. The rapper who won a Ghafla! poll as the best rapper also resumed his Kenyan music tour.

The first four institutions the crew will visit are:

1. Mount Kenya University
2. Nairobi Institute of Business Studies
3. Kenya College of Accounts University
4. Thika Institute of Business Studies

The theme of the month of February will be; Tubonge Peace and the first school will be Tuesday 12th at the KCA University from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Another Prominent Journalist Decamps From KBC

News just in indicates that yet another anchor/reporter has decamped from the national broadcaster, KBC. Melline Myendo has left for a station yet to be disclosed.

Mel, as she’s popular known among her peers handed in her resignation last Friday but remained tight-lipped about her next move. The soft-spoken anchor is a Daystar University alumnus and has been with the State-owned media house for three years.

Melline becomes the second high-flying journalist to part way with KBC after Obadiah Kendagor left the station for Citizen TV. According to a mole, KBC could be the next victim of a massive walkout of journalists as a number of other personalities are on their way out of the station.

The Rise of Another “Avril”

After producing Avril, Nakuru is once again on the precipice of releasing into the music scene another superstar musician like Avril. Sheila Felly is the new queen of music in Naxvegas.

Keenly following on the footsteps of Avril, the budding sexy artiste has already done a collabo with one of Nakuru’s established musicians, Rapper TN. The song, dubbed “Am in Love”, is already getting numerous downloads on social media and massive airplay in Nakuru-based radio stations.

Sheila is also currently working on the solo’s video which will be released soon. Listen to the song below;

Developing Story: Presidential Debate Cancelled!

Ladies and gentlemen, news reaching us seem to indicate that High Court judge Eric Ogolla has halted tonight’s planned presidential debate after Paul Muite and Mohammed Diba successfully petitioned for inclusion.

We are still investigating to find out all the details which we shall then aggregate to you but for now, what has reached us is the fact that the High Court has ordered the inclusion of Paul Muite and Mohammed Diba but until that has been organised, the presidential debate will not take place.

Keep it locked as we keep you informed.

Apart from the performance at Sarakasi Dome, the Netherlands band has a song, “We Are One” in the pipeline together with Octopizzo and the video is already being pieced up by Enos Olik. Check out how it went down at Sarakasi Dome;

REVEALED: Radio Africa Once Tried To Buy Out The Standard

So I uncovered an old Mindspeak podcast where the co-founders of Radio Africa, William Pike and Patrick Quarcoo talked in-depth about the behind-the-scenes workings of the group. At first, they revealed that Radio Africa makes 600-800 million a year. Then they went into how they think that print media is currently run in a very expensive manner.

William Pike lamented the operations, saying:

“I came to Kenya and we started a paper with Patrick. Why did we want to start it? Like Patrick says, while you want to be creative, you also want to make money. And definitely in the print market, they are hugely profitable. the Nation and the Standard are very, very expensively run organisations.”

Then he dropped the buyout bombshell:

“At one point we tried to take over the Standard. I don’t know whether that’s public knowledge… We came very close to getting control of it about five years ago(2004) but it somehow went wrong. But we studied the insides of these organisations. You could reduce the cost structure of both the Nation and the Standard without a loss in quality. We think there’s a lot of room for a low cost, but high quality newspaper, and that’s what we’re trying to do with the Star.”

Stop Calling Ghafla! About Joining The Illuminati!

Everyone at the office is exasperated by the number of phone calls we get from people eager to sell their souls to the devil and join the Illuminati -whatever that is.

And so are the calls asking members of the team for a relationship. No one on the team is gay. Stop asking Adam or Jeff or i out to coffee and insisting that you don’t take no for an answer. And it isn’t funny, it’s actually very scary when a man tells you that he will not take no for an answer when he tells you that he wants a relationship.

And in the same breathe, i’d like to apologise to everyone who got trolled when they called asking for a hook up to the Illuminati. Seriously though, your calls and texts flood us when we are meant to be working and that’s just not cool.

And the moral of the story is that we don’t not buy souls nor do we know about any Illuminati vibe nor are we looking for a relationship with men. Have a good day.

Citizen TV Under Threat Once Again

The number one TV station’s Elections’ coverage is at risk after the Award-winning ICT Manager and his Deputy received lucrative offers to move to a competitor media house to establish much needed Elections technology.

This comes after the media house was raided for Anchors, Studio operators, radio presenters and technical crew. The numbers of those poached stands at about 50 and would have been higher if some camera and newsroom staff had not received counter-offers that have seen salaries shoot up to 850,000/- for an anchor and camera team at 500,000/-.

The latest raid on the ICT Department takes advantage of the fact that the team was underpaid and unappreciated in spite of winning many Awards in the past in an era when media heavily relies on IT technology. Contacted for comment, the IT staff has remained tight-lipped. Not surprising because they are known to stay away from the limelight. The competition is bound to gain strategically in building their election reporting technology.

New Music: Man Wazimu is Too Gangster to Receive Texts

Man Wazimu is back with some new material. Last year, he announced that he would be releasing his sophomore album, a year after his debut, My Say.

In preparation for the new record, The Way, he also released riddims to promote it. Some new tracks have also come out though it has not been confirmed if they will be in the new album.

One such single is Nah Text, a track about being too gangster to accept texts. Well, unless the text is an M-Pesa or Airtel Money. “Bad man accept no teeext. Only mobile money transfer teeext,” he sings on the track.

The track is in line with the reggae stars unpredictable subjects, from contraceptive pills to love songs and even a Nigerian terrorist group. Listen to the lines you should be chanting as you head to your mobile money dealer next time you receive cash below.

What Size 8’s Mother Thinks Of Her Wearing Mini Skirts On Stage

Size 8 had an interview in yesterday’s Buzz mag, where she made grand statements, like when she claimed that she had made 7 million in the past six months. Among the more interesting questions was what her family thinks of her skimpy dressing, to which she responded:

“Funny, my mother watches almost all my performances and videos on TV. She is my biggest critic. She doesn’t mind me wearing miniskirts or dresses, but when one looks bad, she always points it out.”

What do you guys think of this? Is it right for a mpother to encourage her daughter to dress skimpily? Leave your interesting or creative responses in the comment section below:

Churchill Show Fails To Take Off Due To… Dark Forces!

After successful recording of the Churchill Show (formerly Churchill Live) at the Carnivore on 5th of February and much hype on TV, the stage was set for the return of Churchill Show. However, things didn’t go according to plan and the show failed to go on air.

Moments after the scheduled airing of the show, NTV via its Twitter handle (@ntvkenya), apologized that it could not air the show due to “technical hitches”, “Due to technical hitches,we will not be able to air the #ChurchillLive show as earlier promised. We apologise to all our viewers.”

Churchill, however, explained further the situation, “We thought it was a joke when we heard of dark forces!! how do you explain sudden memory wipe out mid final cut loading…yaani computer imejam kabsa! …sema frustration!! on behalf of technology niwie radhi.. wish everyone had come on Tuesday for the live show.”

He also added, “Many apologies from me we were unable to air the show today..Technology failed us mad..now more reason to not miss the live recording on Tuesday. We will be on air on Sunday though. wale walicome for the recording tuambieni”

This is not the first time that show has had a false start as last year June the preparations for the new season were on top gear only for it to fail to air.

Prezzo & Goldie Wedding, Promotional Hoax?

So last week, we got word from the Big Brother website that Prezzo and Goldie were getting married on Saturday. Well here we are on Monday morning, and not a word of the wedding. What was that all about?

After the news broke, there was a whirlwind of denials and speculations. My personal hunch was that it was all a clever ruse to get people’s tongues wagging, as the Big Brother auditions for the next season have began.

I wonder what the people in charge of the organising of Big Brother have to say about all this. Well, I would now like to invite them to explain what is going on in the comment section below:

Kenya’s First Ever Leadership Reality Show Gets a Winner

Uongozi, the first ever Kenyan reality show seeking the next leader ended last week and a winner picked. Adan Mohamed beat out Solomon Wanyama to win Kshs. 3 million to be used for the implementation of a project in his community.

Adan’s plan reads: “If I won the three million shillings, I intend to drill a borehole that will not only provide water for the community but also create a sustainable source of income that will be used in paying school fees for orphans in Mandera South constituency.

This project shall also seek to diversify the activities that the community undertakes from pastoralism to crop growing. The borehole shall be able to supply adequate water for irrigation.”

Uongozi is a reality TV show on NTV that seeks to give a platform to a new crop of young and visionary leaders in Kenya. And it does this by challenging the values with which we choose our leaders. Check out Adan and Solomon’s final debate.

Tom Mboya (Deputy CEO Inuka Kenya Trust), John Githongo (CEO Inuka Kenya Trust), Mumbi Kaigwa (actor and producer) and Mueni Lundi (performing artiste).

The show started out with the following contestants from around the country–and even from the diaspora–who have been eliminated over the last 12 episodes: Philippe Sadja, Elizabeth Duya, Enock Gitau, Joram Omondi, Rose Nyasuguta, Keziah Kiseu, James Namuyon, Raymond Ochieng’, Jenipher Chacha, Everlyne Gakinya, Hardlyne Lusui, Herman Muraguri, Zeinab Wario and Eunice Songa besides the two final contestants.

Mutahi Ngunyi Thinks The TV Presidential Debate Is a Huge Waste Of Time

Larry Madowo on Friday had Mutahi Ngunyi come on his show #thetrend to talk about his recent controversial report named “the Tyranny of Numbers.” In this report, Mutahi Ngunyi analysed why he thought the Jubilee coalition would easily win this election, as the Kikuyu and Kalenjin had registered in overwhelmingly large numbers.

Along the way, the topic of today’s TV presidential debate, which will be the first of it’s kind in Kenya. This is how the conversation went:

Larry Madowo: Do you think the Presidential debate is an exercise in futility?

Mutahi Ngunyi: The Presidential debate, in my view, will just be a forum where our leaders will be exchanging ignorance, because they are not sharing their issues with us, they are sharing their ethnic numbers. Listen to them. Whether Uhuru Kenyatta stands up there and talks matope, or Raila Odinga stands there and he is unable to say anything, people will still vote for him. So it’s not an exchange of ideas. It is an exchange of ignorance as I would say.

Octopizzo Releases Yet Another Hot Track

Octopizzo seems to have developed a soft spot for young and beautiful female artists. Just as the year got underway, the Namba Nane artist released his “Swag” video featuring HBR’s Amina and now, only a month later, Octopizzo is back with yet another spanking video this time featuring Sage.

Sage is one of the few Kenyan female artists that can really sing and when I say sing, I mean awesome International SINGING. Even Octo confirms that, “Through working with her I can PROMISE you that Kenyan music will never be the same again! Watch out for her this year.” In this song, dubbed, “So Alive”, Octo and Sage both address how people should always be motivated no matter what.

Produced by the illustrious Dillie, you will love this track because, one, it has a laid back feel; the beats are classic and the flow is one to relish. Octo’s hard-hitting lyrics also do this track great justice. Take a look;
