Octopizzo collaborates with one of Europe’s best bands (photos)

Remember when Chef’Special, an international rock band came to Kenya for a concert at the Sarakasi Dome? Well, Octopizzo was also one of the performers in that event.

Later after the concert, Octo managed to organize a collaboration with this leading band and the song and video will be released in weeks’ time.

I can’t imagine what the song will be like. International rock fused with Kenyan hip-hop. Now, that’s interesting.

How Media Houses Made Money From Kenya’s First Presidential Debate

The Presidential Debate went into history books as the most watched show ever in Kenya. Having been extensively advertised, the debate attracted exorbitant advertisements on the organizers part and it was expected that it would be a cash cow for media houses but that was not the case.

Apparently the cost for a 30 seconds advertisement was Sh. 500,000 and since the advertisements were featured thrice each it cost at least Sh. 1.5 million each. However, the media houses did not gain much as the money was distributed among all of them.

With Kenya Airways, IEBC, Indomie noodles and Uwiano being the only companies that placed advertisements, thanks to the large amounts charged for the advertisements, the proceeds was not that much and most of it went into production costs like in the case of Citizen TV.

Nevertheless, looking at its major success, the second Presidential debate will definitely be charging higher and may attract more advertisements. However, the debate is already being faced with a challenge after Jubilee’s presidential candidate has withdrawn.

Another Tahidi High Artiste Gets CORDed

Just a day after Jolene of Tahidi revealed why she will be voting for Raila Odinga, yet another Tahidi High performer has come out to endorse the Prime Minister.

TK Kitana AKA Teacher Kilunda yesterday declared that he will be voting for Raila because according to him, Raila is the only guy who has fought for the liberation of Kenya time and time again and never backed down. Teacher Kilunda also cites Raila’s consistency as the other reason why he will be casting his votes for the PM come March 4th.

This comes after both Prezzo and Redsan endorsed Raila for the top job in the country

Biggest Christian Jam Session Marks 1st Anniversary

The biggest Christian jam session event, Cross Konnect has is marking one year since its inception and the organizers want you to mark it in style. Have rose to be one of the most popular gospel events, Cross Konnect has brought you the dance edition, Christmas special edition and most recently the lovers edition.

Here’s Why Unlike Goldie’s Husband, Prezzo Is A Real Man!

Prezzo makes Kenyan men proud. Finally, a BBA contestant who does so! Forget what Majani says, i am proud of Prezzo!

While Andrew Harvey is busy having fish and chips back in England, Prezzo has gone to visit with Goldie’s family. While Goldie’s betrothed is busy stuffing his face with foods designed to take him to the land beyond faster, Prezzo has gone to console the family.

That is the mark of a real man! How do you leave your in-laws at such an hour then start thumping your chest issuing hollow warning? Pfft!

I salute Prezzo for letting the world know that kenyans are men, real men not to be cowed whether or not the threats are real. Prezzo must be allowed to pay his last respects and no-one should stop him.

I am often asked where the party is at on Saturdays and alot of people have a plethora of suggestions. Personally, after going crazy at Changes on Thursday, i just want a chill spot and this joint is it! Which joint am i prattling on about? Well Santa Fe ofcourse.

This is the one place that doesn’t have any pressure. This is where you can get to hang out with a grown and sexy crowd and not have to bleed your wallet dry. And another thing i love about this place is that the bouncers are also pretty zen. No one likes meeting bouncers on steroid rages and this is the one place i can guarantee you that this never happens.

The bouncers are sociable. The deejay; DJ Abstrakt is too sick with his mixes and sets and i guarantee you that he will have you on your feet the whole night!

And parking space is in plenty! You don’t have to drive around for hours looking for a spot unlike anywhere else on Electric Ave. And not only is the parking space ample, it’s secure so you can lay your fears to bed on concentrate on what’s important: having a good time.

I’m sure that title captured your attention aye? But seriously, Pendo who is also an aspiring musician aside from being a socialite, recently dropped a gem on the team: her hubby in waiting was going to get her a luxury ride.

The Lesson All Men Should Learn From The Prezzo-Goldie Saga

So after the death of Goldie Harvey, the sub-plot of her and Prezzo has dragged on for a few days now.

For those  of you who aren’t in the know, Prezzo and Goldie were an item during their time in the Big Brother house. As a matter of fact, Goldie is the one who initiated the whole thing, and Prezzo used to hold her at arm’s length, due to his commitments to his estranged family. There was even a time Goldie vomited on herself in bed because Prezzo told her they were just friends! After her insisting, Prezzo finally caved and committed to Goldie, at least in the house.

When the two got out of the house, their relationship continued, with Prezzo spending lots of shillingis to visit Goldie in Nigeria several times. He even came out with a song called ‘Naija girl’ for heaven’s sake! Then, after all was said and done, it emerges posthumously that Goldie had a mzungu husband in England all along! Seems Prezzo was being strung along the whole time to me.

But as they say, every dark cloud has a silver lining. In these dark times for Prezzo, the rest of us men should LEARN TO SPOT TIME-WASTING WOMEN EARLY. As I was watching the events unfold in the Big Brother house, it became evident to me that Goldie was simply wasting Prezzo’s time with her antics. Why claim to love someone, yet deny them a simple kiss for the longest time? That action alone was concrete evidence that Goldie was up to something, and when as a man you detect a woman is not being straight with you, LEAVE HER ALONE. She will waste your time. You are better off pursuing the millions of simple, single, straightforward women of this world.

Goldie’s husband: I’m in the UK enjoying fish and chips while answering mails of condolences

Just like you dear reader, I’m left to wonder what exactly Mr. Andrew Harvey is all about.

 

He recently came out claiming that the press have completely failed to understand him, and why he revealed himself as Goldie’s husband immediately after her death.

On whether he has a family abroad, Andrew Harvey has been defensive and has since then maintained silence on this matter, according to sources.

 

As stories came in earlier on about him being bedridden in a hospital in Malaysia, he denied the claims saying that he is very much healthy.

 

“Please note that contrary to popular belief, I am not in a sickbed in Malaysia. I’m in the UK enjoying fish and chips busily answering mails of condolence! Being in a sickbed sounds a whole lot less stressful,” Andrew Harvey said.

The President Finally Endorses Raila Odinga (VIDEO)

With less than two weeks to the elections, Prime Minister Raila Odinga seems to have his campaign strategy on lock. Already he has secured the endorsement of several leading celebrities among them Redsan who affirmed him his support last year and confirmed that in a video yesterday. Another common figure to have endorsed the PM is Tahidi High’s Jolene who also cited her reasons.

Following in the footsteps of the two is the president himself, Jackson “Prezzo” Makini. Though still mourning the sudden demise of his sweetheart Goldie, Prezzo took time to declare that he will be voting for Raila Odinga.

In a short video, Prezzo describes Raila as a hands-on leader, with the best interest of the country at heart. He goes ahead to recall how Raila publicly supported him while in the Big Brother house last year. Prezzo also acknowledges that Raila is not only a leader, but a father figure.

Here’s Why Uhuru Kenyatta Has Chosen To Snub The Next Presidential Debate!

So we told you that Uhuru Kenyatta will not be in the next presidential debate aye? Well, we have more light to shed. Apparently, the DPM’s party TNA has released this statement to the organisers of the presidential debate:

“Dear Sirs,

RE: MEMORANDUM OF THE KENYAN PRESIDENTIAL DEBATE

Kenya’s first-ever Presidential Debate took place on 11th February, 2013. While saluting the organizers for orchestrating such a historic and seminal event; it would be remiss on our part if we did not bring to the fore blatant acts of omission and commission that regrettably raise doubts on the need and value of having our Candidate, Uhuru Kenyatta, appear in the second and final round on 25th February, 2013.

BIAS AND MODERATOR’S OBSESSION WITH THE ICC FACTOR

It was clear from the start that Moderator Linus Kaikai had an axe to grind against Uhuru Kenyatta. He had evidently been coached and directed to set the stage for the other candidates to directly attack the Deputy Prime Minister, Honourable Uhuru Kenyatta, in the guise of addressing the vital subject of good governance.

As a moderator, Kaikai overstepped his mandate while addressing the governance issue and used the International Criminal Court (ICC) matter to probe only Kenyatta on his ethical qualifications and performance as a leader while not applying the same level of scrutiny to any of the other candidates’ glaring ethics and integrity issues

By stubbornly persisting with that issue for more than 30 minutes, Kaikai displayed his open bias against Kenyatta’s leadership and quite willingly set the stage for other candidates to gang up on him, and question his moral, ethical and integrity status should he be elected the Fourth President of Kenya.

Kenyatta may have been slightly distracted by the ICC line of questioning, but finally emerged stronger by providing credible answers over the challenge, which he described as a personal matter and one which he is ready to live with as he defends his innocence at the ICC.

“Which candidate does not have personal challenges: , asked Kenyatta, a line of debate that Moderator Kaikai deliberately chose to ignore since it did not fit into his preconceived ideas and biases.

Kaikai should, however, be told in no uncertain terms that his line of questioning was totally prejudicial and designed to antagonize and disadvantage the Jubilee Presidential candidate. Fortunately, the DPM maintained his calm and composure amidst all the provocation, displaying the grace under pressure that is a hallmark of the maturity befitting a national leader.

Aside from testing Mr Kenyatta’s patience and displaying the arrogance, bias and political affiliations of Kaikai; the debate in itself served no particular purpose other than providing Kenyans with an unsatisfactory and shallow plastic discourse that added no value to their knowledge or understanding of the pertinent issues relevant to their everyday lives.

Why didn’t Kaikai, for example, take up Muite’s gauntlet to challenge Raila when the Safina leader pointed that the CORD Presidential candidate should bear the greatest responsibility over issues arising from the ICC debacle? A good moderator should have seized this golden opportunity from a lawyer to interrogate Raila on the ICC. It would have made the debate all the more memorable, probative and informative.

Kaikai should be advised that the key purpose of any presidential debate is not to let rivals plough through the misery – or personal misfortunes – of competitors but to market their credentials and manifestoes competitively to the Kenyan voters, in the overall hope of influencing undecided voters and ensuring all voters make informed decisions.

It was profoundly unprofessional and tasteless for Kaikai to use the ICC indictments as a platform for allowing the other candidates to ride roughshod over Uhuru without equally raising questions related to their suitability and competency. If Kaikai had genuine intentions of exposing the weaknesses of all the candidates in the debate, then he would have dredged into the shady past of candidates like the Prime Minister, the Right Honourable Raila Odinga, Hon Peter Kenneth, Paul Muite, Hon Martha Karua and Hon Musalia Mudavadi, and former PS John ole Kiyiapi, all of whom are burdened by varying degrees of either graft allegations or issues of moral probity.
It is with a heavy heart that we say that, throughout the debate, Kaikai behaved like a guided missile with a pre-programmed target – Candidate Uhuru. This is the last impression that a professionally convened and moderated presidential debate should impart.

The Kenyan media’s inaugural Presidential Debate got off to a false start. It was a tainted, loaded and totally skewed spectacle.

ELEPHANTS THAT WERE NEVER BROUGHT INTO THE ROOM – OTHER HARD QUESTIONS

Kakai excitedly introduced the ICC issue as the only elephant-in-the-room, conveniently forgetting there were many other jumbos that are a matter of public knowledge and media record. He clearly chose not to introduce them into the debate room. It is unclear why neither of the two moderators probed Odinga over his alleged role in several multi-billion shilling instances of grand corruption; most notably the Triton, Maize, and Kazi Kwa Vijana scandals that have blighted the Prime Minister’s Office for a number of years.

Worse, Odinga was not grilled on his suitability for office having confirmed in writing that he participated in the 1982 coup attempt, an illegal and unconstitutional enterprise aimed at overturning the constitutional order in Kenya. Although he admitted to playing a key role in this treasonous plot in his 2006 authorized biography by Nigerian academic Babafemi Badejo – Raila Odinga: An Enigma in Kenyan Politics – this is one issue that Odinga has successfully managed to keep out of the public domain in recent years, and Kaikai appears to be one of his foot-soldiers in this maneuver.

In addition, the two moderators failed to put Deputy Prime Minister Musalia Mudavadi on the spot for his alleged role in the complex Goldenberg Scandal when he served as Finance Minister.

Narc-Kenya leader Martha Karua was not grilled on her dubious role in the South Ngariama Ranch and allegations of moral impropriety, all hard issues in the public domain.

Peter Kenneth was not questioned on his suspected role in scandals involving the Kenya Re-Insurance Corporation and the Kenya Football Federation (KFF) when he was the head of the two institutions.

And James ole Kiyiapi was not questioned on his suspect role in the Education Fund scandal while Paul Muite was not taken to task on allegations that the Goldenberg Scandal chief architect Kamlesh Pattni paid him KSh20 million. Pattni made the allegations, complete with facsimiles of the cheques involved, and a senior business associate of Muite’s confirmed that the cheques were indeed banked in their firm’s account.

These were major elephants-in-the-room and Kenyans were waiting for the hard questions to be asked, a point one of the pre-debate analysts, the Nation Media Group’s Macharia Gaitho, had loudly alluded to ahead of the debate.

Why did two such highly-rated moderators fail to ask the hard questions? Why did they allow the debate to tilt so unevenly in one direction? It was a failure that smacks of deliberate strategy, prefabricated elsewhere, off-stage.

No doubt Kaikai had listened to what the pre-debate analysts were expecting on behalf of the Kenyan voters but was suspiciously only keen on introducing one elephant-in-the-room, the ICC issue; which was discussed for over 30 minutes.

We contend that the allegations against Uhuru’s rivals, whether confirmed or not, go to the heart of the ethics of the said candidates and are covered by the new Constitution. The moderators’ failure to address the issues simply confirms their bias against Kenyatta.

KAIKAI THE RAILA PARTISAN

Perhaps the choice of Kaikai as Moderator was not a well-thought-out decision by the organizers. This moderator has previously and publicly displayed a soft spot for the Prime Minister. Kaikai is known to have expressed interest in seeking a parliamentary seat in Narok on an ODM ticket in the 2007 elections, but was reportedly talked out of his ambitions and promised the post of Director of Communications in a Raila Presidency.

CHOICE OF PRE/POST DEBATE ANALYSTS

The composition of pre- and post-debate analysts was deeply flawed. First, the organizers did not consult Presidential campaign teams on the said composition, thus it was abundantly clear that the inclusion of hostile civil society activist Ms Atsango Chesoni was designed to pump up bias and hostility towards Kenyatta and thus alienate a large bloc of voters who depend on “talking heads” like her to make their decisions.

It was exceedingly bad judgment on the part of the organizers to include Ms Chesoni amongst the analysts, considering that she is the Executive Director of the Kenya Human Rights Commission, one of the civil society bodies that have unsuccessfully been fighting in court to have Kenyatta blocked from contesting the Presidency.

It is clear that the race is between Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga, but it still beats logic why six other candidates were allowed to participate in the debate. We had forewarned the debate organizing committee way back last year in a minuted formal meeting that inclusion of debaters beyond the front runners, which is an internationally accepted norm, would significantly diminish the probative value of the Debate. Our advice was not heeded, the Constitution was incorrectly invoked, and consequently the public interest was not served.

Clearly some of the organizers were keen to use the Debate to further their own political agendas and support their favoured candidates.. For example, Samuel K. Macharia, the proprietor of Royal Media Services (RMS) – which contributed one of the moderators – has openly opposed Kenyatta’s candidature and aligned his broadcasting empire to bolstering Odinga’s campaigns. He was recently appointed head of CORD’s so-called Summit, becoming the first media owner in Kenya to participate directly in the affairs of a political formation.

It is public knowledge that the debate organizers were not keen on the inclusion of retired teacher Mohamed Dida Mohamed and Senior Counsel Paul Muite, who were only allowed in when they obtained court orders. This means that as it now stands because of the confused first debate precedent, under Section 108 of the Constitution, which calls for “equitable and fair” coverage of all the candidates, candidates who stand no chance whatsoever of winning, will and must participate in the second debate.

HISTORICAL FACTS

While moderators have a right to dig up past historical facts, such rights should only be invoked if they add value ,enrich the overall tenor of the debate and are relevant to the voters without serving to drive a greater wedge than already exists between rival sides. Therefore, it was unhelpful and rather sensational for Kaikai to replay the post-Independence power struggle between Jomo Kenyatta and Oginga Odinga that culminated in the latter being detained. This is one of the reasons for the “bad blood” between the Kikuyu and Luo. It can be argued that replaying the fallout of 1966-69 was needless, except to inflame the old emotions and recreate suspicions between the two communities to further split the vote blocs.It was highly insensitive of Kaikai to bring the matter up when Kenyans are still healing from the wounds of the tragic 2007/08 post-election violence.

What’s more, the issue of timing was actively disrespected. Initially, the organizers had promised the candidates and the Kenyan audience a two-hour debate. However, due to disorganization, the skewed emphasis on the ICC issue and lack of strictness on the amount of time candidates had to give their responses; Kenyans ended up with a three-and-a-half-hour Debate that left both the participants and the audience exhausted. The candidates were on their feet all of this time and some of them had just arrived from various grueling campaigns in far-flung corners of Kenya. This subjected the candidates to unnecessary fatigue at a time when they literally had to think on their feet and perform for the cameras.

Such blatant lack of respect for time amongst media professionals exposed the organizers’ many weaknesses in running the inaugural debate. It is not worth participating in a second Presidential Debate under such conditions and such manifest lack of professionalism.

AUDIENCE COMPOSITION

We also noted that the organizers of the debate took it upon themselves to invite members of the audience without consulting with the stakeholders. While this is not the greatest of our grievances, we however note with concern that some of the organizers personalized the debate to the extent of inviting relatives. In addition, international non-governmental organizations (NGOs) that have been hostile towards the Kenyatta campaign in general also got invitations into the hall instead of local activist groups that have been on the frontline promoting civic education and fighting for the right of the ordinary person to be recognized as a stakeholder in Kenyan politics.

CONCLUSION:

With all due respect, we are of the opinion that with less than a fortnight to go before the polling day; our Candidate’s time can be better spent on the campaign trail rather than participating in a skewed, shambolic and farcical Second Debate.

The fact the media have already cornered themselves by having all the Presidential candidates participate in a lengthy, tedious and ultimately pointless process that does not bother to follow the most basic rules of moderated debate, including timing, should not be used to box the Jubilee team into the awkward corner of another unproductive debate.

It is our position that the voter has a right to directly connect with the candidates on the ground and preparing oneself for two days in readiness for the proposed second debate is not time well spent.

Based on these facts, we want to make it clear that the Jubilee Presidential Candidate, Uhuru Kenyatta, will not be taking part in the second debate.

We, however, wish to reiterate our readiness to meet with members of the Organizing Committee to discuss these concerns.

Graffiti Artists Strike JKIA (Photos)

Remember when Mavulture hit the streets with a series of graffiti on some noticeable buildings’ walls around town then went ahead to release a series of funny political clips and went ahead to erect billboards around Nairobi. Despite being derailed by the city council, the group has been relentless in its quest to advocate for a change in leadership.

Well, it seems the group is not alone because a similar group has emerged and just like Mavulture, it is raring to go. Spray for Change is a collective group of talented graffiti artists who share a passion for the art and a vision for change. Prezzo defies Goldie’s husband’s orders and visits Goldie’s home

Just some few days ago, Goldie’s husband suddenly showed up and started dishing out photos of him and Goldie on social media.

 

This might have been a message to Kenya’s Prezzo, telling him to keep off. He, Andrew Harvey, later decided to send Prezzo a real message, asking him to literally stay away from the grieving family and it is after these threats that Prezzo was thought to have flown back home (Kenya).

But then again, Kenyans are born fighters. We might be runners as well, but only when it comes to the marathons. Prezzo has not left Nigeria. Atleast not yet.  He is still mourning Goldie and will continue to do so with Goldie’s family despite the threats that Andrew Harvey might send out to him, according to reliable sources.

 

Back in Goldie’s home, a condolence register has been opened and guests are pouring in to write down their last words to the celebrated singer.

 

Prezzo and Goldie’s close friend, Denrele, are currently at the house paying their respects.

Way to go Prezzo. It was really unfair and selfish for Andrew Harvey to have asked Prezzo not to show up for Goldie’s burial. Let’s wait and see what Prezzo will do about that.

Clemo Responds To Clay Muganda’s Claim That Sheng Is ‘Useless and Vile’

– There is this wrong notion that sheng signifies a tribe-less Kenya, and is therefore good for national integration because those who use it do not have exhibit ethnic traits, but tribe and language (of communication) are two different things and one can learn the latter
– After politicians, sheng tops the list of all the most useless things to have come out of Kenya. Even if we laud it from atop the tallest building, it will never add value to our lives and will only continue to show how confused we are
– Truth be written, sheng has no commercial value, is vile, despicable, uncouth, impolite and Kenya as a nation will never benefit from it in any way

Now Clemo, who is known for being the lead producer and owner of Calif Records, understandably took offence to Clay Muganda’s position, seeing that Calif produces artists who’s main dialect of choice is the sheng which is supposedly ‘useless and vile.’  In response to that, Clemo said:

“This should probably be the most useless article/opinion nimesoma in a while.  Sheng is here to stay. Ukikuja kwangu for an interview lazima pia ujue sheng kiasi.”

Ladies and gentlemen, i am just receiving word that Jubilee’s presidential candidate Uhuru Kenyatta has opted to withdraw from the 2nd round of the planned presidential debate.

Word of the development has actually come from controversial blogger Dennis Itumbi who has posted the following as proof of his claims. Please note however that the images are a screen shot of the actual confidential documents that he has somehow obtained from TNA:

Bamboo’s Sister Releases Single

Victoria Kimani, a US-based Kenyan artiste who recently got signed by Nigeria’s Chocolate City Records has released a brand new single.

The singer got signed after catching the eye of Audu Maikori, Chocolate City founder and CEO, after she posted a remix of Ice Prince’s Oleku online in August, 2011.

Victoria Kimani, who is rapper Bamboo and Kimya‘s sister, has released her first single after getting signed titled Mtoto. Check out an interview with the singer here.

She has previously featured on the Diplomatic Immunity mixtape with DJ Whoo Kid when she was signed to NBA star, Ron Artest’s record label when she was part of the Club Embassy duo. The track got more than 250,000 downloads.

Guess Who’s Performing at This Week’s Thursday Nite Live

Roots International brings you another week of the best acoustic, jazz and roots music by some of Kenya’s finest performers.

This time, they present Christine ‘The Jazzist‘ Kamau. The Nakuru native started music at an early age, studying music theory and classic piano at the age of 11 and later learnt to play the trumpet at The Kenya Conservatoire of Music.

She released an afro-jazz album, This Is For You, with the help of Romeo Kouemeni, a Cameroonian producer. The album is currently available on iTunes and in select stores in the city.

The event takes place at Choices Bar & Restaurant on Baricho Road between 8:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. Artistes who have previously performed at Thursday Nite Live include Naomi Wachira, Just A Band, Sauti Sol, Abbi, Makadem, Yunasi, Eric Wainaina, Winyo and Stan among others.

Does Jaguar Have TNA In His DNA? Find Out What He Had To Say!

The mercurial Jaguar was recently at TNA’s Uhuru Park rally together with the rest of the jubilee brigade and he performed his hit song “Vigeugeu” to the joy of the crowd.

He was just one of the performers of note who thrilled the crowds at the political rally. Another example would be Ringtone who has declared his interest in political office on a TNA ticket. While Ringtone has come out time and again to endorse TNA’s Uhuru Kenyatta, Jaguar came out to say that for him, his performance was merely a business decision. He will not be endorsing anyone for the general elections to be held on the 4th of March this year.

He sought to clarify that he was there merely to entertain his fans. Nothing more nothing less. And that in itself leaves him standing out from the fray given that the other artists who performed have declared their support for Uhuru Kenyatta and his running mate William Ruto. The other artistes who performed were: Abbas, Chiwawa and Bamboo.

Despite all this, let us remember that TNA was discovered to be spending 250 million shillings on artist performances alone.

The Owners of KISS 100 & Classic 105 Comment on the Media Wars

When William Pike and Patrick Quarcoo, the heads at Radio Africa Group appeared on Aly-Khan Satchu’s Mindspeak, Mr. Quarcoo answered a question about the media wars and poaching.

“There’s nobody who works for me who isn’t happy. When I came into the market, the average presenter was paid between Kshs. 25,000 and 35,000. Today, they drive cars I can’t afford. Maina Kageni has a Hummer–it’s true–a big black one. So, you tell me, is that bad?

When my competitors poach from me, it’s never a problem. I think when you’re starting you have to have good people. Remember, I got a license withdrawn. And second, a very powerful man was out of town for two weeks. And I was told, you have to launch within two weeks because if he comes back, he might change the old man’s mind. So, I had to find people and I found good people.

But I think on the balance if you look at all radio stations, if you look at Radio Jambo, literally the 13 people on it, every one of them is completely new. And some of them are literally from Mathare Valley. Actually, yes, completely new.

If you look at Kiss 100 now, we’ve got completely young people now who we’ve developed on our own. East FM, we’ve put a lot of young people on. Classic 105, we’ve developed a whole slew of people. So yeah, I did a few things in the past and I’m willing to do it again.”

Rappers lash out at Bamboo on their new track and attack him mercilessly

It seems hitting out at already established artistes is the only way left for traction-less rappers with no originality and creativity to gain fame.

 

I don’t mean to come out all negative on these guys, but come on. Dissing established rappers while you are still struggling to push your music out of the studio is a little bit washed up, don’t you think? Okay, it worked for Octo, but in the long run, and even as he started, dude had some really hot punch lines and delivery in flow.

 

Anyway, they go by the name of Pro Vocal and they have just unleashed a diss track titled ‘Bamboo Distape’ a couple of hours ago.

I will be polite and simply say that I have nothing to add.

Busted’s Ciku Muiruri Gets A New Co-Host

Classic 105’s OverDrive Show host and the brains behind the famous melodramatic episodes, “Busted”, Ciku Muiruri, has a new co-host.

Announcing to her fans via her online page, Ciku declared that Larry Asego is joining the show as her co-host. Larry who is known for his “matatu blues” tales and open letters now brings his know-how on the show considering he has a wide experience on radio having been on the breakfast show on Kiss FM and mid-morning show on Classic 105.

Before his deployment to OverDrive Show, Larry was the host of the mid-morning show, a post currently being held by former Citizen TV journalist, Shiko Kaittany.

Prior to his debut on the show, Larry had on Sunday hinted via his Facebook page that he will be on the show, “Back to work on Tuesday after a beautiful time out. Kumbe hivi ndio mulikuwa munasikia December? Can’t wait to meet Ciku, kuna vile Akoooo!”

Top Artists Release Another Peace Song

Kenyan artists have decided to preach peace before and after elections and they are using their strongest tool; music. Already, gospel singers Rufftone and Jimmy Gait as well as Nyota Ndogo have each done songs that promote peace urging Kenyans to maintain serenity during the electioneering period.

In the same manner, singers Avril, Marya, Jimwat, Ala C, Rabbit, Sana and Jua Cali put their heads together to make a song encouraging guys to maintain peace. With Sana on the chorus, the rest artistes in their respective verses remind guys the importance of peace and the progress brought about when there is tranquility.

Dubbed “Change” the song also recaps that change begins with you and me and that voting wisely is what will bring about a better Kenya. Click HERE to listen and download to the track.

Blankets And Wine Must Have Sounded Like An Idiotic Idea In The Beginning

I don’t know about you, but if my friend had once come up to me, telling me that they had an idea where they charge people 2,000 shillings to attend a BYOB(Bring Your Own Bottle), I would have laughed squarely in their face, spraying whatever liquid I was ingesting all over them.

 After that, I would proceed to call them an insufferable FOOL, and sternly request them to get out of my sight! This is probably the process Muthoni the Drummer Queen went through five years ago when telling people about her new idea for a “premier East African experience”. I know I got similar treatment when starting Ghafla. Thing is, when you are trying to start a new biz, there will be all sorts of critics, but what separates the boys from the men in entrepreneurship is the conviction to move ahead in the face of naysayers. Look at where Muthoni is now: the Blankets franchise is bringing in crazy cashflow, there is now Blankets and Wine in the coast, and outside Kenya. Muthoni herself was even recently invited to the finals of the Africa Cup of Nations. Kudos to her. In conclusion, let me leave you with a relevant quote from Theodore Roosevelt:

One of Kenya’s Top Singers to Release Album

Right at the end of the month, Maia Von Lekow‘s album is finally releasing her album.

The soulful singer will release Drift on Thursday, February 28th from 8:00 p.m. The event wil take place at Treehouse at the International Casino Complex on Museum Hill in Westlands.

Maia Von Lekow will be supported on stage by Danz Nirina (bass), Amani Baya (drums), Kato Change (guitar), Wakake Otieno (percussion) and Andrew Ngatia (keys).

There will also be guest performances from violinist Aaron Colverson, tabla player Prasad Velankar and vocalist Sage. The launch comes just two weeks after the singer performed at a Valentines Day show at Que Pasa.

The Christian Presidential Debate On Tonight

After successfully organizing the first ever vice presidential debate, the mainstream Christian Church leaders, Christian media and the national broadcaster – KBC in conjunction with the Daystar University now bring you the second live presidential debate in the country.

Dubbed the “Presidential Debate 2013: The Christian Edge”, the live event will be mainly shot by KBC but streamed by other stations like K24, KTN, NTV and others. Moreover, all KBC affiliate radio stations as well as all Christian Radio Stations will air the occasion live just like the deputy presidential debate held last week Thursday.

Unlike in the first debate organized by the mainstream media, this debate is a forum for presidential aspirants to address issues from a moral and an ethical perspective. The debate will air from 7PM to 9PM.

After cancelling his Kenyan concert last year, Mavado is now set for September alongside Cecile

Mavado was to perform a year ago at what could have gone down as the biggest reggae concert but Visa issues got in the way of.

 

Cecile on the other hand, had a successful concert alongside fellow singer and her baby daddy, Chris Martin.

This year, Cecile is set to come back to Kenya and have yet another epic concert, this time with Mavado.

 

The concert will be in support of the Make A Change Campaign which was initially established by Cecile here in Kenya. The Campaign raises awareness on education, health care and youth economic development through out Africa.

 

For those that were left disappointed by Mavado’s failed concert, no worries for he will be here in September for a concert that you will never forget.

Angela Angwenyi Makes a Comeback on TV

After appearing on the screens as one of the “Idols” judges, sassy radio presenter Angela Angwenyi is back on your TV screens. Monday, Angela hosted the first sensational ladies’ talk show that aired on Zuku Afrika. This comes just days after being ranked among the radio queens most sought after by corporates.

To be precise, the video was recorded eight months ago, just before Goldie got into the Big Brother House. This was meant to promote her participation in the reality show.
