Mr Nice Comeback! Mr Nice And DNA Collabo! Watch The Video Here!

At some point in the past, Mr. Nice was the alpha male in as far as East African music was concerned. He was the top dog. And then something went wrong. He headed down to S.A and just seemed to lose it all. He wound up broke and addicted to illegal substances.

He tried making a come back with this track…

{youtube}M4jLNF6WdM8{/youtube}

…but that didn’t pan out to be all it was cracked up to be. And now he has decided to work with Grand Pa records, the newest powerhouse in Kenyan and indeed East African music scene.

With that said, he has collaboed with DNA on his latest musical offering titled “Tafuta” and you can watch it below:

Caroline Mutoko Says That Her Child Is Already Digital With An iPhone and An iPad

While the rest of the nation waits with bated breath for President Uhuru Kenyatta to roll out his much anticipated Laptops for Kids government initiative, Caroline Mutoko has already put her daughter ahead of the pack by buying letting her use a top of the range Apple iPhone and iPad.

There is no hiding that Caroline is a proud parent that her kid can operate these devices at a young age. Caroline Mutoko boasted of this fact on her Facebook page, saying:

When I said in my article today that I can see the dream of these devices through my daughter’s eyes, I meant it. Bless The STAR they simply don’t have enough space for the days I’m on a roll. When you’re done reading, gasping and sharing these links and hopefully finding more, here’s what I know for sure “…. At 2 years my daughter operates my Iphone with ease. She knows where the pictures sit, where her items on YouTube sit and all her apps are about learning – ABCs, counting, numbers, songs, animals, instruments, cars, planes etc. Annoyingly, she also knows how to take the phone off “airplane mode”. I used to think I could save myself some money if she couldn’t access YouTube – but when the phone says “disable or cancel” she chooses disable – I weep. She can’t read, but she knows what gets her what she wants. If your phone isn’t “touch”, she tends to give it back with the words “a not working”. The iPad may be bigger than her little hands, but she doesn’t care –she’s all over it. Nduku’s future is digital, technology is her language.

Caroline is a mysterious one. Her posts on social media often draw hate and love in equal measure. I wonder how Facebookers will react to this one, as it seems to me like she is half-bragging, half-talking sense here. What do you think?

UPDATED: Actress And Socialite Shee Waruinge Pregnant?

I posted this piece earlier today about Shee waruinge being pregnant. “Earlier in the afternoon, Shee Waruinge took to Facebook to complain about her morning sickness. Now, I may not be a woman, neither a gynecologist but I do one a couple of things about childbirth. One of the things about pregnant women is that they suffer morning sickness.

And Shee Waruinge has taken to Facebook to lament about her morning sickness and this is how she did so:

Sheeroh Walcott Waruinge Sheeroh Walcott Waruinge

This morning sickness will be the end of me!! :'(

SHEE_WARUINGE_FUCKERY.jpg
in the infinite wisdom of Miss Mandi, “Print screen!”

When I tried to reach her for a comment, her phone was off. But you can read about her change of heart in this article.

Turns out that was Shee Waruinge’s idea of a joke. No long ting though, I am well acquianted with lasses that say anything on social media for the sake of it. I apologize to all Ghafla readers for getting my facts twisted.
Some stories aren’t worth their link. I have learnt my lesson. Again, I am sorry.

Grandpa Records Finally Unveils New Artist, It’s Mr. Nice!

When I was called for a press conference, I did not know what to expect! I knew it was gonna be someone big but this I had not expected.

Then I saw someone posting about it on Facebook but I was still incredulous. Well it’s true, Mr Nice is back. Famous for Takeu style and hits like fagilia, you shall be seeing him on your television screens! He has just launched a new song called tafuta, a collabo between him and DNA. The video will be out today.

http://www.ghettoradio.co.ke/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/dna10.jpg

The press conference was organized at Florida 2000 by Grandpa records, and contained journalists from all media houses. A clear indication that he’s back, bigger and better. More on this unfolding story later.

Find Out How This Kenyan Artist Collaboed With A Ugandan Without Meeting Him

Hottie has been away from the music scene for a minute.

I remember when she came out with the hit song “African Bam Bam” I was feeling that one. But she took a break from the studio, where she had another job, and was hosting karaoke gigs around Nairobi. Now she’s back with a new track called ‘Ona Sasa’ featuring Ugandan artist ‘Mith.’

{youtube}-1Pv6Ugu__A{/youtube}

I caught up with her to give me the low down on how they made this collabo happen at Homeboyz, and this is what she told me:

“Challenges I faced was travelling from home to shoot the video in UG. Was apprehensive cause I had featured an artist I had not met on the song, but whose skills I admired, being a member of the hip hop group Klear Kut. I sent a demo to the Mith,he loved it. Challenging in the beginning as we did most of the work separately and online, and only met for the 1st time during the video shoot. We had to shoot till the wee hours of the morning, their entire team were great & supportive. Been away from the Kenyan music scene due to school & work commitments but still having the passion to make music,I have been actively involved in the music scene in Vienna(where she is currently based). I have a band called Mashariki (we perform around Europe) & I’m currently putting final touches to my album that will feature some great artistes in Kenya & from different places around the world. I intend to launch it at home this year.”

Where Did Mr. Lenny Go? He Became A Dad(CUTE PHOTOS)

Nyi wasee tumetoka Githurai! Tumekam kuwapa rhymes zingine dry-y!

If you remember this song, then you remember Mr. Lenny!(PS: Get all the cheesy lyrics to ‘Githurai’ here)

Anyway, Mr. Lenny, who also sang Juju with Nameless back in the day, has been out of the music scene for years, but I managed to get some photos that indicate that the man has been BUSY setting up a family of his own behind the scenes. Here are the cute pictures of a father and his kid:

The way he’s beaming in all the photos, he seems a very proud father. Congrats Mr. Lenny!

Engaging Debate Surrounding Ann Kiguta Admitting Her Boyfriend Used To Beat Her

Last week I did a piece serialising a True Love interview where Ann Kiguta revealed how she was beaten thoroughly by her ex-boyfriend.

It seems to have started off quite a debate among the Ghafla! commenters around spouse battery. One commenter even said that sometimes it is ‘necessary.’ This is how the argument went:

Larry Keya: I never judge when I hear someone is beaten at home. From my experience, sometimes its necessary.

Nancy Wangai-Kamau: you sound like a victim of ‘women beater’ Larry Keya…please confirm

Larry Keya: No I am not yet sometimes I am forced to. I hate it infact. I prefer dialogue than use this as a last resort. I’ll say this again, there is always more to the story.

Sydney Wechuli: From your own experience?

Larry Keya: yes I do have a story to tell on this… apparently.

Angie Okhupe: there is no story in this world that can justify you beating up a woman! If you are tired of her leave her! LEAVE MAN! Resorting to violence is an extreme lack of self esteem on your part! Pack up and LEAVE!

Larry Keya: True… but I will dare you to really look into the whole story of violence at home and how it comes about. What really leads people to do it? And if you are really honest with the findings, without being biased, you will not judge. And if ever you find yourself in such a situation, you will deeply understand why never to judge. Like I said from my experience not wishful thinking.

WOW. What do you guys think? Is spousal abuse sometimes justified or not? Is there a point where someone can piss you off to the point where you are allowed to give him/her a smack? Let’s talk in the comment section below:

Kenyans On Twitter Turn The Heat On Uganda In Twitter Beef!

*sigh* I do not understand why Kenyans On Twitter are constantly rabble rousing. Just 2 or so weeks ago, Kenyans were battling it out with Nigerians in a rather nasty war of words that saw Kenyans go as far as open a Facebook page.

But Nigeria had the last laughs. One of which included the leading role of “My Life In Crime” (a semi-autobiographical movie based on John Kiriamiti’s life as a gangster) going to a Nigerian -Jim Iyke.

Kenyans have now taken to trading barbs and insults with Ugandans and have started the hashtag Someone Tell Ugandans. Here are some of the tweets being sent:

@HowLycK: #SomeOneTellUganda all we gat to do is send one Luyha and that Bird on their flag will disappear.

@kennytoonz: #SomeoneTellUganda they are landlocked. They will still need to use Kenya to transport their hash tag #SomeoneTellKenya

@tony_vybe_killa: #SomeoneTellUganda they remind us of our chinese fwends UGH LEE. ! #KOT

Iron Man 3 Debuts To Strong Showings

“Iron Man 3” is expected to be the first film this year to break $100 million opening weekend at the box office.

The movie has been launched in Asia and Europe so far. Initial tracking for the film has the sequel earning north of $125 million upon its US debut when it opens May 3.

Featuring Robert Downey Jr. as billionaire Tony Stark, the first number is slightly below the first weekend for 2010’s “Iron Man 2” which earned $128.1 million.

Boxoffice.com projects the film to debut at $151 million.

Last year’s Marvel superhero film “The Avengers” went on to earn a record-breaking $207.4 million last year in its premiere weekend at the box office.

The film will help turn around a dismal box-office year so far.

Currently, Disney is leading the pack at theaters already. “Oz the Great and Powerful” has the highest opening of the year with $79.1 million.

Placing second is DreamWorks Animation’s “The Croods” with $43.6 million.

“Iron Man 3” is the first big blockbuster set to debut next month with “The Great Gatsby,” “Star Trek Into Darkness,” and “The Hangover: Part III” opening in the weeks following.

The Quintessential Family Man: Cute Photos Of DJ Moz With His Children!

I love how DJ Moz has posed for this photo with his daughters. And I have tried but I can’t help but draw a parallel to the photo Tahidi High’s O.J took with his son.

As I’ve said before, I am Old Testament. My upbringing emphasized fire, brimstone, blood, guts and glory ergo i’m a sucker for traditional family values. Call me a conservative if you will. Check out O.J’s picture here to find out what i’m referring to.

But ladies and gentlemen, here’s the photo of DJ Moz and his daughters:

Size 8 As A Saved Gospel Artist. Anawesmake? (POLL)

So Size 8 has gotten saved and made the shift to gospel music. She’s also made 7 other changes to her life since then.

For now, people are celebrating the fact that she has crossed over. But let’s look at the long term. It’s no secret that some artists have tried the whole gospel conversion thing and not seen it through. Look at DNA and DNG.

Also, there is the niggling feeling in the gospel industry that some people do gospel for the money. But we’re not ones to judge. We’ll leave it up to a democratic voting process.

YOU DECIDE: Can Size 8 permanently become a gospel artist and stick to the straight and narrow?

Meet Lyra Aoko’s Replacement In The Samsung Ziki Stars Competition!

This Saturday, another event was going down. Dubbed Samsung Ziki Star, the mission was to birth the next star after Lyra Aoko!

Sadly I didn not attend but news have a way of travelling thus I got the scoop. Daystar University’s Daniel Chikwaza, a second year communication student won! For flooring everyone else, he gets to record a single and video courtesy of Samsung Electronics East Africa. This leg was the culmination of three weeks of intensive auditions across three universities.

I’m told Daniel staved off vicious vocal competition, to beat 6 contestants from three universities- Kenyatta University, USIU and Daystar University at the grand finale. The seven contestants were: Lensa Alila and Maureen Kanana from Kenyatta University, Daniel Chikwaza and Young Noiz from Daystar University, Sikin Rege, Halima Nsangou and Lisa Mugera from USIU. I introduced you guy to Sikin a while back, read about where she was before she dashed to dazzle at this competition!

samsung_1.jpg

Sikin Rege was second runners-up while Halima Nsangou was the first runners-up. Young Noiz from Daystar University won the judges award, for his boom boxing talent earning himself a one off opportunity to record with King of Benga – Dan ‘Chizi’Aceda and gifted music producer – Chris Adwar@ Yung Nnoiz is also the guy behind Slam Africa going down this friday at Ethiopian Dass Restaurant in westlands.

Daniel, under Wyre’s tutelage is expected to hit the ground running. Expect his single in a fortnight. Kevin Wyre by the way, is not only a singer and gifted producer but also the Samsung’s Brand Ambassador. Read about his new song here.

Samsung Ziki Star which was inaugurated in 2011, saw Lyra Aoko emerge winner of the competition. As winner of the Samsung Ziki Stars she debuted the music scene with a Wyre collabo called “Happy” which has propelled her musical career . Lyra’s career looks promising as she has already worked on a new single “Ni Wewe” and also features in songs with leading artists like J ’Mani and Collo –“Radio Love” and Nick Mutuma –“254 Anthem

This Is How Beats And Pieces Went Down At Safaricom!

Saturday was the day that Sauti Academy all decided to bring out the wow factor! And bring it they did, you should have heard the audience scream in delight as the event becane fever-pitch! Oh there’s a girl called Winnie I believe who has more energy than a teenager on steroids and she can sing!

The first pic is of the last performance of the night by Natalie Lukkanaer, director of Penya Africa. She did an amazing rendition of Valerie Kimani’s Nguga ii! Yes she did! Beats and Pieces, was held at Safaricom’s Michael Joseph Centre. The pictures are courtesy of Corban Makaya and Ariel of Korban Photography.

And the men at were hard at work.

Below, Ngari, Gitoho and Muraya reminded us what the blues is!

And yes Sauti Sol’s Chimano was in the house, and gave a moving speech about not throwing in the towel when you feel you have a musical calling. he then sang acapella and trust me, this guy is gifted in the dulcet tones department. Read about Sauti Sol’s new song here.

Below is Sikin, remember here? Read that story here.

Ragz and Abishai did a wonderful duet.

And who can forget CeeL of Team Forever Alone. Read about that here.

And then the drummer of the night decided that he’d had enough! He also took to the the stage and sang like it was a pop idol moment. Awesome awesome voice.

Meanwhile someone was in a raincoat, I kid you not!

And with his back up crew they danced like Koffi Olomide. Who knew Hiphop could be fused with Seben!

Mwachari, a friend from Mombasa also brought his A-Game to the stage!

And Kijo brought the vavavoom!

And she teamed up with Brenda to give a stunning duet! I tell you these ladies can sing!

And Kiu who I’d written about earlier, were in the house too. They have such awesome harmonies and yes, it was awesome to finally meet Rosa, the lady in white.

This Girl Is Gonna Take The Gospel Scene By Storm!

You know how you listen to a song, and the colour of someone’s voice also called tone tells you if they can sing? Well this girl has a very soothing tone, and that is what I believe makes her voice pleasant to listen to. What am I on about?

lalonchi_2.jpeg

Heard of Lalonchi? You need to.

{youtube}jVKpGVjOO7c{/youtube}

I will not lie, I was sent the video and so I don’t have much to say about her yet! Nonetheless, this girl Lalonchi can sing and that is what matters. The song is catchy, simplistic and memorable. That is what hits are made of. It’s simplicity in no way dilutes it’s awesomeness. What else can I add? That you need to listen to both of her videos to hear just how precious this girl’s voice is. She is signed to Katenga entertainment. Keep your eyes peeled for her debut album later this year. Ladies and gents, I present to you Lalonchi.

Larry Asego is Back! This Time He’s Talking About His Hilarious Matatu Encounter

I was very busy minding my own when I stumbled across Larry Asego’s comment or rather status update about what he had experienced earlier today in a matatu and I couldn’t help but chuckle to myself. It’s so funny I think I’ll share with you what he had to say:

Watch World Famous EDM DJ Mat Zo’s Latest Video.

I just shared with you that 6AM Deejays are flying in Mat Zo! Yes, you’d have to be an EDM aficionado to know who he is.

Read his bio below, I got if from the event page for Kikoy Culture 2013 by 6 AM Deejays. Details about this awesome event here. Mat Zo will be the headling act.

“This whole genres business is like the Berlin wall, and I’m there with a forklift and a wrecking ball” Mat Zo

http://www.vancitybuzz.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/Mat-Zo-11.jpg

At 22 years of age, Mat Zo is part of a new breed of precocious, unrestricted DJ/producers that are making big noises without the one-dimensional genre blinkers of old. In the last 12 months alone, the London based producer has seen his boundary-blurring productions like “Bipolar” and his latest missive – the big room melodic funk anthem “Easy” with partner in crime Porter Robinson – dominate the Beatport charts.

DJs as varied as Skrillex, the Swedish House Mafia, Tiesto and Above & Beyond hammer them at the biggest events on the planets, while Zo himself spends his time zig-zagging across the planet – rocking the crowds at events like Electric Zoo in New York, Audiotistic in LA, Creamfields Australia and London’s SW4.

http://houseanthems.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/zo-mat-4f878c55808f1.jpg

As anyone who follows his colourful twitter feed will know, Zo is a ranter as well as a raver. Laid back but full of creative fire, he’s still the music obsessed joker that his mates have always known – but somehow seems like an elder statesman at the same time. As a prodigious teenager, he took both the drum & bass (he records for Hospital as MRSA) and trance scenes by storm. Now armed with a discography of hits that would put some of the longest standing producers to shame, he has gone on to remix pop princess Kylie and become a leading light in both the drum & bass and trance scenes – occasionally topping the Beatport charts in both genres at the same time.

{youtube}at3FPJaAwoY{/youtube}

With “The Bipolar EP” finding its way into the sets of A-Trak, Afrojack, Porter Robinson, Steve Aoki and Roger Sanchez, Zo has proved his chameleon-like capabilities to find fans in whatever sound he turns his hands too. A recent Beatport #1, “Easy” (with Porter Robinson) has been clocking up BBC Radio 1 play from Pete Tong, Zane Lowe and Annie Mac.

http://media.lessthan3.com/2011/02/Mat-Zo-LessThan3.jpg

With his recent 70-track Essential Mix for BBC Radio 1 journeying from Burial to Sasha and Daft Punk to Noisia, Zo’s kaleidoscopic creativity is now ready to be unleashed in full force through the release of his debut album in summer 2013. With everything from French house to hip-hop planned for the album, Zo’s genre-wrecking visions are set to be realised in the most explosive manner imaginable.”

Kenyan Tycoon And Business Mogul With A String Of Clubs In Nairobi Arrested For Money Laundering!

This one, I will not comment on nor edit. Here is the lowdown as i received it:

A Kenyan businessman has been arrested and is being detained in Tanzania on fraud charges. Don Bosco Gichana, a 32 year old businessman who caused a stir when he became one of the few Kenyans to import a gas guzzling Hummer sport utility vehicle in 2007 was arrested last week by Tanzanian security agents in Arusha and later transferred to Dar es Salaam where he is being held.

Gichana runs several entertainment spots in Nairobi including Capri Seven. He also contested for a parliamentary seat in Kisii county on a CORD ticket in last month’s election and lost. Reliable sources yesterday revealed that US law enforcement agents who are said to have played an important role in tracking and arresting Gichana have since filed a request with the Tanzanian authorities to have him extradited to the US to face other unspecified charges.

Unconfirmed reports indicate that the businessman allegedly donated substantial funds to the campaign
teams of rival presidential candidates in the recent general election. ‘The group was arrested while on
the verge of transferring over Sh1 billion from the World Bank account. They have since been transferred to Dar es Salaam where investigations are going on,’ a source privy to the investigations
said.

Several Kenyan politicians who are close friends to the suspects are reported to have attempted to have
the Tanzanian police drop the charges and release the businessman. They have however reportedly been informed that the US is seeking to have the man extradited to the US where he is wanted.

Gichana yesterday appeared before Kisutu Resident Magistrate’s court in Dar es Salaam where he was
charged with knowingly and fraudulently obtaining US$4.9 million. The charges include money laundering by transmitting to Arusha a forged cheque amounting ti US$4.940,363.25 deposited into
account No.02J103632500 belonging to Mayale Precious Mines. The case was adjourned to April 18 2013.

In November 2010, Gichana, his two relatives and three other people were charged in a Nairobi
court for stealing Sh104 million from Fina Bank. Don Bosco Gichana denied stealing the money. He was charged alongside his sister Moraa Gichana. Gichana and his co-accused allegedly stole Sh96,759,540 on November 15 at Fina Bank, Ngong Road branch. He is also charged with stealing another Sh8 million from the bank. Gichana, Moraa and another relative Obadia Gichana were also charged with stealing Sh96.7 million from Eco Bank on November 15, 2010. Other suspects charged alongside them
were Albert Kuloba, Graham Sagwe and Robert Onkwani. Don Bosco and Sagwe were released on a cash bail of Sh1 million while Kuloba was granted a Sh300,000 cash bail. All of the group members were also accused of conspiring to defraud Garden Real Estate Development Ltd of Sh96.7 million on November 12, 2010.

Juliani’s Latest Video Shot Using An I-Phone!

Juliani is back, with a song that is as catchy as catchy can be. His lyrical prowess is undeniable as usual.

The beat is the first thing that captures you, Dillie I repeat is one awesome producer! He by the way, is the guy who produced Khadija the remix by Wyre and Juacali. Well this video sadly is too short Juliani, what’s up with that? Dillie also produced So Alive by Sage featuring Octopizzo.

Have You Gotten Juliani's Mix Tape?

I love that Juliani is singing more and more in this latest mixtape of his. The song starts by him asking “Na hii Nai ya nani ya who?…” Then he goes to say that we are in this mpango wa ka dough, meaning we all in the rat-race looking for money. My best line of course is “Superman not aware of his own strength, ako content kuwa Clark kent.” Still waters run deep so goes that adage, and this man that depth that you only delve into when you listen to his music intently.

And yes this video was shot using an I-phone. Agan Juliani, Y U No make this song longer? For more Juliani news about his latest project, read here.

Ghanian Songstress Efya Set To Rock Nairobi On 25th April.

There’s one concert that I’m looking forward to! I don’t know if you’ve heard of a lady called Efya, she’s being brought by Tusker Malt 100 club.

tusker_lite_1.jpg

Tusker Malt 100 Club have brought two musicians prior to this, Bez and Zonke. Bez is the guy who sang with Sara Mitaru. Zonke’s gig I missed, but thankfully I won her album Ina Ethe. This was because I asked what her name meant, and for that I won that album. My favorite song there is feelings.

Well they are back, and this time they bring a singer called Efya. Her educational background; theatre, arts, directing & music at the University of Ghana, Legon. Efya has played countless gigs, tirelessly doing 2 or 3 appearances a week, and has been featured by artists in Ghana, Nigeria, South Africa etc. These have helped her build a fan-base in home country and all over West Africa. She is completing work on her highly anticipated debut studio album. Dubbed Love Genesis, it is slated for release in the near future.

She was born Efya (née Jane Fara Fauzzie rAfia Boafowaa Yahaya Awindor). She was formerly known as Miss Jane, a Ghanaian singer-songwriter, composer and actress. Efya was born on the 10th of April 1987, in Kumasi, Ghana, but later moved to the capital Accra with her mother Nana Adjoa Awindor (now Nana HemaaAdjoa Awindor) who relocated toattend film school at NAFTI.

http://cdn.bellanaija.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/efya-37.jpg

According to her bio, Efya is the first born of her mother’s three children. Born in Kumasi, she relocated to Accra when her mother moved to study at NAFTI film school. The nature of her mother’s ensuing career “Greetings From Abroad” saw a young Efya traveling around the world extensively. Imbibing several cultures along the line, she took up Ballet & athletics. She still dabbles in both disciplines.

Some of the numerous awards she has been feted with include 2008 Ghana Music Awards: Best Female Vocalist (Irene & Jane), 2011 Ghana Music Awards: Best Female Vocalist, City People Awards: Best Female Ghanaian musician, Ghana Hip-Hop R&B Music Awards 2011: Contemporary R&B Artiste of the Year, Ghana Hip-Hop R&B Music Awards 2011: Female R&B Artiste Of The Decade, 2012 Ghana Music Awards: Best Female Vocalist.

Her film repertoire includes Adam’s Apples Chapter 3 – as herself (cameo) in 2011, and Single & Married as Judith/Efya (2012).

Efya signed a 2-year endorsement deal with Nigerian Telecom giant, Globacom, to serve as an ambassador. She also models for contemporary African fashion line Duaba Serwa. Listen to her song below getaway. Her concert shall be on the 25th of April, I shall notify you of the other details later.

Wyre And Juacali Release Video To Khadija (Remix)

Wyre is an industry mainstay that has managed to stay afloat, ever since the days of Necessary Noize.

http://vibeweekly.com/old-site/images/stories/celebgaze/wyre3.jpg

He recently released the song Khadija, a love song predicated upon an infectious ragga beat. I must admit the song grew on me! From his lyics, you can tell this artiste is very fastidious in the way he approaches his art. My favorite songs by him however are still Chuki and Uprising.

http://getmziki.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/09/jua_cali_img.png

Today, he released the video to the remix he did with another industry heavyweight Juacali. The song has that vintage look, with the ladies clad like they are starring in something out of a wedding shoot. Awesome video this one. The song was produced by Dillie who also produced Sage’s So Alive. Watch it below.

Jaguar’s New Song Kipepeo Will Not Be By Ogopa Deejays.

Last week I wrote to you about the scandal that ensued when two former employees of a renowned recordiong stable were accused of luring artists to their new musical outfit.

Former Ogopa Deejays' Producer's Official Response To Artist luring Allegations.

Well Philo of Mainswitch sought to clear the air, if you missed that, here is the story. Something that caught my eye in that story, was that Jaguar is one of the artists that he’s working with currently. True to form, that was confirmed today in Mzazi Willy Tuva’s show, when Philo was being interviewed. He said that Jaguar was launching a new song called Kipepeo, and that kigeugeu would pale in comparison to that song! Slated for release in a week’s time, it is said that Jaguar ad his team have enlisted the help of a director from the states in a bid to ensure that they shoot a video worthy of critical acclaim! Speaking of Tuva, gues who from our team was recently interviewed by him. Read here.

http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-rxRMyjuWW6Y/UDXnSIF3twI/AAAAAAAABVw/vXZADbpAqos/s1600/jaguar.jpg

Once the song is out, I shall definitely share it with you. There was a bit of controversy concerning the ownership of that song. Philo however explained that although Jaguar was to do that song with Mustapha, contractual ties would not permit them to. Kipepeo means butterfly in Swahili, and this song is set to fly sky high. Philo said that he is currently working with several artistes, and has recently produced a major collaboration between frasha -(punit) and Wyre. Other artistes currently working with him, include Gospel artiste Ringtone, Canibal, and Syd.

Ever Wondered What Happened To The Kulahappy Series?

The initial buzz around the Kulahappy series was unlike anything the Kenyan online community had seen before.

The Kulahappy hype was EVERYWHERE. Safaricom especially, spammed me and many others with texts promoting the online comedy.

In the beginning, the going was good for Kulahappy. They came out with viral sensations in the form of Prof PAP, Baba Jackson, Jamandass, Githingithia, all characters designed to appeal to the different ethnic communities of Kenya.

But 7 months ago, Kulahappy all of a sudden stopped posting up videos to their YouTube channel, and you know what that means. It means I did a swift Ghafla! Investigation.

A member of the Kulahappy team, who prefers to remain unnamed, told me that the series had not been shut down as many people thought. They chose to focus their efforts on a spinoff called “Wambua,” which is the name of one of the naughty students in the Prof PAP episodes. They also elected to host their videos themselves on their new platform, Kenyaboxoffice.com. If you are interested in watching this new Kulahappy spinoff, click here for the Wambua videos.

As a web developer, I personally know that the economics of YouTube are incredibly crappy. If your videos don’t routinely get several hundred views each, you won’t make ANY money, so from where I’m sitting, it seems like a good move. What do you think?

Here Are The Four Possible Contenders For Big Brother Africa 2013.

There’s no denying it, we are waiting for Big Brother with bated breath!

http://aquahlekkergarla.files.wordpress.com/2012/06/upville-house-13_e3c847ba-08dd-4fc5-b680-70e6338f5ef5.jpg

So rumour has it that four Kenyan finalists were shortlisted for Big Brother Africa. The names are Melvin Alusa, Alhuddah (Huddah) Njoroge, Oj Oballah and Anne Mbaru. I’m actually surprised that Shaffie and Vera didn’t make the cut! These two have a knack for setting tongoues wagging with their shenanigans. Well nothing is official yet, so we just have to wait and see who gets picked.

https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-jYI-iLfRRAI/T7-c4h-_6ZI/AAAAAAAAKZU/yKnTW1YUWWc/s288/melvin.jpg

If things follow last year’s pattern, there’ll probably be two contestanst in the house which increases our chances of finally clinching that oh so elusive pot of gold at the BBA’s rainbow’s end! Nigeria mustn’t beat us to the crown.

I have shared the pictures of the four contenders, y’all can debate who you think will fly our flag high in South Africa. Melvin Alusa is an actor. Anne is a fashion aficionado and a former strategy support consultant at National Aids Control Council. Huddah y’all know, a socialite and business lady, and OJ is the guy who won king of Facebook competition and currently works with Trinc Media.
