Daddy Owen, DK Kwenye Beat Producer Blames Promoter for Stealing & Abusing His Production

Once again, insincerity and unethicality seems to be slowly cropping back in the music industry. After previous cases of artists pointing fingers at each other for jacking each other’s songs, the blame game has now shifted to producers and music promoters.

The latest is that Award Winning Producer Teddy B of BeatKlub is accusing Sadat Muindi of Maliza Umaskini Promotions of ‘stealing and abusing his production’.  Teddy B is well-known having produced songs for the likes of Daddy Owen, D.K, Rufftone amongst other gospel greats.

“There is a worrying trend that is cropping up in the Kenyan music industry. Artistes are signing up with crooked promoters who take a producers work from one studio without completing payment and moving to other studios to redo the songs with the exact original producers’ ideas. This is the second time it is happening to me and i must speak about it”, complains Teddy B.

Teddy B wants to settle the score with Sadat because he “lacks basic courtesy, decency and respect for the people who are making a difference in this industry.” He says that he (and other producers) work tirelessly to create big songs that resonate with people and cultures in the society and that the last thing they need is for our music to be unlawfully and disrespectfully copied, dubbed or re-used at the will of the promoters who only care about their pockets and have no regard for the Gospel industry that has more than commercial value to those involved in it.

Teddy B refers to the recently released song by budding hip-hop Gospel rapper Dee dubbed “Victory Dance” in which he was the original creator of the song before promoter Sadat lifted it.

“I am speaking to all involved in doing this. We need to have regard and respect for each others’ careers and stop using some production houses like your doormat. This trend needs to stop. We will take this matter further than the internet and TV if it continues,” warns Teddy B.

Allegations Of Capital FM’s Chris Kirubi’s Corruption Scandals Surface! Read The Shocking Story Here!

A rather interesting read is doing the rounds on the internet. The read which is courtesy of Mavulture.com claims to shed some light on Chris Kirubi’s alleged acts of economic assassinations and economic sabotage let alone corruption!

And for those of you not in the know, Mavulture.com is militant former photojournalist cum activist Boniface Mwangi’s pet project and it has some explosive alleged information about the Capital FM and HACO industries owner.

And this is what the viral story purpots:

Flamboyant entrepreneur’s successful streak in private business magnifies failures at Kenatco and Uchumi, raising suspicions of large-scale sabotage

Chris Kirubi

To a generation of young Kenyans, Chris Kirubi is the quintessential self-made man: he is immensely wealthy and stylish, yet eschews the demeanour of a lady’s man stomping Kenya’s cocktail circuit with bevies of beauties in tow.

This picture-perfect perception is enhanced by Kirubi’s alter-ego, DJ CK, which he adopts on his Capital FM music blitz. Kirubi’s growing stature in business was affirmed recently when he was ranked by Forbes magazine as the 31st richest and most influential man in Africa.

Forbes said Kirubi struck it rich by buying small dilapidated residential and commercial real estates in Nairobi which he renovated and disposed off at a profit.

This, the magazine went on, transformed his fortunes and made Kirubi a business mogul whose estimated worth is $300 million (Sh2.4 billion).

Kirubi’s empire includes Nairobi’s International House, a 49 per stake in Haco Tiger Industries, as well as substantial stake at equity firm Centum and UAP Insurance – one of Kenya’s largest insurance companies – and construction firm Sandvik East Africa.

He also owns the DHL franchise in Kenya, and Capital FM, one of Kenya’s most popular radio stations.
After his Forbes listing, Kirubi subsequently told Drum magazine that he really did not know how much he was worth as numbers did not bother him; he was more concerned with what money can do.

Such philosophical contemplations contradict the 70-year-old bachelor who struts around the city in Italian designer suits with girls young enough to be his grandchildren.

“They know me personally,” Kirubi says of his tailors, which is what every Kenyan would say of their tailor.
While quite a few would say they know Kirubi personally, much fewer know how he made his money – beyond the official narrative that implies he picked cash with the ease of a farmer harvesting mango from a tree.

That may be so, only that Kenyans do not know on which specific tree he did the harvesting. What’s evident is that Kirubi’s big break came during his stint as manager with Kenya National Transport Company (Kenatco). This was a State parastatal established in the 1970s to offer logistical solutions to Kenya and the neighbouring countries of Uganda, Congo, Sudan, Burundi and Rwanda.

Kenatco was, however, transformed into a smuggling network by a group of politically-connected individuals in President Jomo Kenyatta’s inner circle.

The period between 1975 and 1976 provided a peak in smuggling after coffee market prices were spiked by frost that affected Brazil coffee. Smuggling hit fever-pitch as Kenyans jostled for coffee beans in the region – with Kenatco transport network becoming the centrepiece of the illegal operations.

Kirubi is alleged to have emerged from Kenatco a millionaire although the reason he attracted attention was not the alleged financial transformation but the foundering of the parastatal.

Kenatco was placed under receivership in February 1996, after it failed to service its loans and meet other financial obligations due to mismanagement. The genesis of its problems was a Sh22.4 million loan it was advanced by Industrial and Commercial Development Corporation (ICDC), ironically also owned by the State.

The loan was meant buy new vehicles to revitalise Kenatco’s fleet but by June 2008 the debt had skyrocketed to Sh368 million, despite the struggling company having paid back Sh26.3 million. It was against this background that ICDC appointed a receiver manager to run the company.

Kenatco, which once held great promise, has now made history as the only State-owned corporation which has been under receivership for a record 16 years, exposing it to plunder and mismanagement.

At one point, Parliament was told of how some of its expensive Mercedes limousines were sold for a paltry Sh500. Kirubi was mentioned as one of the managers who had contributed to running down the company.

Kirubi with an unidentified lady

An outraged David Musila said in Parliament in June 2006: “Kirubi has been bragging how rich he is. He was responsible for the collapse of Kenatco but nothing happened to him. He was indeed given Uchumi to manage which [has now] faced similar problems.”

Interestingly, Kirubi was to become a major shareholder of ICDC when the Government released some of its shareholding, indirectly placing him at the helm of Kenatco, a company whose collapse he had earlier been accused of overseeing.

Uchumi Supermarket’s journey to the dogs followed a similar route. It was incorporated as a private company on December 17, 1975. Upon its incorporation, 51.5 percent of the stake went to the Government through 24.9 percent shareholding by Industrial and Commercial Development Corporation Investment (ICDCI), Kenya Wine Agencies Ltd (KWAL’s) 18.8 percent and ICDC’s 7.8 percent.

At the peak of its growth, Uchumi had 28 branches scattered across the country, employing more than 1,000 Kenyans. It became a public company in 1992 when it was listed at the Nairobi Stock Exchange.

When its fortunes dwindled despite the Government and the public injecting more revenue, Kirubi and 13 other senior employees of the supermarket were ultimately charged with defrauding the supermarket. They were charged before resident magistrate Stella Muketi on June 10, 2008.

They were accused of selling a piece of land on Aga Khan Walk in Nairobi belonging to Uchumi Supermarket at a paltry Sh147 million, although its true value was more than Sh400 million. They allegedly sold the land to Allgate Company.

After the sale, Uchumi supermarket was then forced to pay Sh1.7 million monthly rent to the new landlord. Kirubi was further accused of breaching public trust during his tenure at Uchumi as board chairman.

Uchumi supermarket has since been revived by a team led by Jonathan Ciano although Kirubi has been struggling to clear his name over the Uchumi saga.

Kirubi’s private enterprise, however, continues to flourish, as he told the Drum magazine.

Consider the ostentatious statement by the businessman: “If you are wondering in what ways Kirubi could possibly be a part of your life, they are many. Haco Tiger Industries give you cocoa butter in its many applicable glories. You write using Bic pen, use his bleach on your fabrics, rinse your clothes in his fabric softener before hanging them out to dry – using his pegs.

“You must have eaten his company’s rice, taken a mouthful of his oats, and shaved using his razors if you live in South Africa because, well, he is part of a company that is listed on the Jo’burg Stock Exchange that manufactures razors.”

One wishes Kirubi was as forthcoming about his journey to the top, and clarify whether the trail of failures in his public tour of duty were inadvertent mistakes that forged his business acumen, or deliberate sabotage calculated at lining the pockets of his Italian suits.

Former Big Brother Finalist Embroiled in Husband-Snatching Drama

Husband-snatching is not something new in the celeb world. A couple of well-known female celebs have settled for a ‘second wife’ or have destroyed another woman’s once happy home by marrying their husbands just to earn the title ‘MRS’. But that’s life.

Now, the latest tale of husband-snatching accusations involves former Big Brother Amplified finalist from Uganda, Sharon O with tycoon businessman Ivan Ssemwanga. Ivan is widely known for being married to Ugandan socialite and one of the sexiest women in East Africa, Zari Hassan.

Yesterday, we reported how Ivan had acquired a brand new Range Rover Sport for the Big Brother Amplified finalist. The latest from that drama according to Ugandan website, UGO, is that Zari now claims that Sharon O didn’t steal Ivan from her but found him a free man.

Zari “The Boss Lady” expressed her disappointment with media that is always twisting the whole story that Sharon O stole the father of her three boys. Zari claims Sharon O only found Ivan Semwanga a free bird ready to hook up as the couple had way long separated.

Zari posted this on her Facebook wall on Tuesday evening;

She never STOLE him as many claim. She found him a free man as i had LEFT months already. Stop twisting what you don’t know……we are both happy with our decision except the spectators who don’t know EXACTLY what they are happy about. Fe nga fe ababili tuli okay with it. So rest your case with what you don’t know…

Zari claims to have separated from Ivan months ago and is now comfortably hooked to a dude from US who she prefers to keep out of the limelight before they also snatch him from her.

UGO further alleges that Sharon O is already heavy with Ivan’s baby.

What Next For Huddah Monroe Could She Be Up To The Following Activities? Uncle Chim Tuna Demystifies Huddah’s Options!

Huddah Monroe was by far the most lively contestant in this year’s cycle of BBA dubbed The Chase but she was surprisingly evicted within the shortest time frame -one week in a move that caught many flat-footed.

The lass is however uncowed by her humiliating exit and humiliation at the hands of KoT (Kenyans on Twitter) and has vowed to bounce back. She has also intimated that she now has a manager in a tweet that cancelled an “interview” with Ghafla which seems to indicate that she is taking the current “brand” awareness she is enjoying seriously and plans to take advantage of it.
But what are some of the avenues open to her? well, let’s investigate:

#1. TV show
This is a well beaten path for most former BBA contestants. Most of them opt for the route of becoming television personalities as Malonza did with Tujuane, Gaetano from Uganda did with Studio 54 ad infinitum. And while this is still a whisper, a rather impeccable source told me that one of Kenya’s TV stations might have something in the works for Huddah Monroe… Let’s wait and see whether this pointer pans out though.

Photo: The captain of the love ship and the diva of love are on tonight at 8pm for SN3 of Tujuane

BBA’s Malonza with his co-host

#2. Become a radio personality
This is yet another well travelled path for former Big Brother Africa personalities. Our very own Sheila Kwamboka took this avenue as hers and is doing rather swimmingly if I do say so. Huddah wopuld however have to temper her personality and lose her penchant to curse and swear aswell as learn to take hits and maintain a smile in her voice.
This one will be harder for her because unlike TV where the producer can save the situation, radio is live.

#3. Continue posting nude pictures
Oh Good God please do!

huddah_nude.png

#4. Go into acting.
If her days as a video vixen have proven anything, she can act. And maybe, she should look at acting as a career now that her name is on more than just the internets. she can now take up acting in one of Kenya’s many local productions or she can look to a MNet production like Nick Wang’ondu did.

#5. Social Media Specialist
Huddah is a social media pro. There is no doubt about that. And love her or hate her, Kenyans pay attention to her. This was made abundantly clear when she (or rather her brand) trended for each day she was on Big Brother Africa -all 7 days- and 3 days after her eviction.
The lass knows how to get Kenyans talking. She would however have to be smart about who she associates her brand with. Some brands wouldn’t touch her with a 10foot pole with barbed wire wrapped around it!

#6. Continue posting nude pictures
I strongly recommend this move!

#7. Party Hosting and Club Promotion

She seems to already have started down this path -party hosting- but perhaps she should seriously begin to think about club promotion in which case I know just the man she needs to talk to; Changes’ Dean Martin

Big Brother Africa Update: Have You Voted To Save Annabel And Team Kenya?

Kenyan representative in Big Brother Africa is up for eviction this coming Sunday and we need to vote to keep her in the house! The lass is Kenya’s only remaining hope for the 300,000$ prize money and bragging rights!

Think about it. Kenya’s flag will only remain flying on at BBA if Annabel Mbaru remains in the house and you and everyone else needs to vote! This is beyond whether or not you like the lass, this is strictly about patriotism. We need to keep her in for an opportunity to win the prize money and bring it home. That means that you need to call all your ugandan friends and relations and get them to vote. Likewise the Tanzanians!
And the best thing about the vote you cast is the fact that not only do you do your bit to save Kenya blushes, you also stand a chance to win fabulous prizes.
And this week, Annabel has been nominated alongside:

Even Before The Dust Has Settled On StarTime In Kenya, Ugandans Are Up In Arms About Them! Find Out Why Here!

We have just received word that StarTimes are in trouble in our sister nation Uganda where they are being sued by citizens for the sale of what Ugandans feel to be obsolete equipment (decoders). And all this comes after StarTimes got into trouble with the Communication Commission of Kenya for charging its subscribers forfree-to-air channels in Kenya.

According to our sources, StarTimes have contracted a Chinese national by the name Kevin Chen to supply decoders and as such his company is alleged to have been selling soon to be obsolete decoders to unsuspecting Ugandans who have run to get them because they are cheaper.
The decoders are said to allegedly be obsolete because they (decoders) are set to be switched off before the end of this month to pave for the internationally acceptable Digital TV Broadcasting and because of this, Ugandans have moved to court and StarTimes is scheduled to face Ugandan courts.

Two Ugandan citizens Mulwani Taminwa and Muzamiru Kasamba were on 18th June cleared by the Commercial section of the High Court to file a case on behalf of more than 130,000 complainants whom, the Chinese duped into paying for the outlandish appliances.

They will be joined by the Uganda Consumers Protection Awareness Association (UCPAA) to push for a refund from the Chinese. The victims will also seek a swap for the compliant decoders from the accused.
Ugandan lawyer Richard Omongole filed the public interest lawsuit, with a preliminary application by Mulwani, Kasamba and UCPAA, to bring a representative suit on behalf of the victims of the con racket.
The Court’s deputy registrar Thaddeus Opesen allowed the application, which is to be served to Star Times management through an advertisement in the media.

Star Times Might Soon Start Broadcasting P0rn0graphy!

The decoders in question go by the name DVB-T Set Top Box, which the plaintiff claim are products of outdated technology as declared by the 2006 International Telecommunications Union Conference that sat in Geneva.

Ukoo Flani Mau Mau Distances Itself From G-Wiji & His Recent Sharp Accusations

Most recently Kenyan hip-hop rapper affiliated with legendary group Ukoo Flani Mau Mau, G-Wiji broke his silence about the Kenyan hiphop scene and dissed a couple of rappers. But he wasn’t done because last week, he emerged once again this time exposing homosexuality in the hip hop fraternity.

However, events have suddenly taken an awkward turn because Ukoo Flani Mau Mau has distanced itself from G-Wiji arguing that the views expressed by the rapper are not their own and do not necessarily represent the views of the group.

The management of ukooflanimaumau has disassociated it self with attacks of mainstream artist and ill accusations by former member Gwiji, He left the camp as earlier as 2004 due to habits the rest of the crew count.

The mashifta rapper has become irresponsible, and is a disgrace to hip hop community by bringing discord and tarnishing the names of hardworking professional emcee who are putting hiphop on the map,by being organized and disciplined which attracts the corporate companies.

It is well known fact losers blame others for their own failure; G-wiji should not hate the players but the game, and get out of his illicit drinking dens and become a responsible adult.

Ukooflanimaumau control towers further issue a stern warning to the presenters of “bang kichwa”who hails from Mombasa who are on a mission to return the rivalry of coast based ukooflani and mau mau camp, as their name suggest “banging hip hop heads together “is their mission to create beefs among artist and make their show popular.hip hop is founded on love and peace basics, those who destabilize peace and bring discord among brother is an enemy of peace.

Gwiji is a mere pawn, who was called interviewed “may be given cash” the rest  of material edited. one of the presenter has fallen out with top industry artist manager, after he treated emcee black of national theatre in an human way  ,ukooflanimaumau management  has learnt too the picture was taken a failed artist going by the name mc shenzy closely working youth tv, he too fell out with the artist manager after he stole  a mac  laptop in a V.I.P bash. it is a case of   loser out to get cheap publicity. And player hating, by stirring still waters is like walking downs the street and grabbing the ears of a strange dog, and their efforts are null and void .

Ukooflanimaumau appeal artist to make music and not war, and hip hop artist not to bring down their own. they have forgotten who is the enemy. Global hip hop movement has suffered a image, ”bang kichwa  “ should concentrate on bring the positive elements  of hip success act in town. Otherwise it will be short-lived, by their method of attacking those in the limelight to get publicity. nairobians hip hop heads. Will discern the cunning and evil attempts to create a beef between maumau camp former members, and that will be the end of their careers  some alien’s cultures are not welcome in Nairobi, and we appeal to hip hop community to put the two presenters under scrutiny, the characters and habits are questionable? And might be playing- the reverse psychology.

Mau mau camp is not defending any one, emphasize of responsible journalism, any one  who bring discord and stir peace and love in our street is an enemy of peace. Learn from the success of others not hating,it is a free market ,with over 90 radios, over 15 newspaper and several tvs, no one is controlling music industries, success is hard work, relationship and partnership.

If clean water fights with the dirty water, who is the loser? it is clean waters, the dirty just want be clean and successful by fighting  the clean and successful emcees

There you have it.

The jam which features Biko and long time collaborator REX is remiscent of something out of American producer cum rapper Future’s repertoire. Actually speaking of Future, Ulopa Ngoma has produced a stellar beat, it’s actually like something you can expect to hear Future on.

The video was done by Enos Olik and is an example of one of the reasons the lad is so highly rated! The picture quality is crystal and the cut scenes seamless.

The track is a party anthem and I can actually see myself jamming to it at the club. The jam is all about having a good time with friends and I guarantee that you will pick up on that as soon as it starts. Check it out below:

Khaligraph Jones Salutes A Fellow Kenyan Artist! Find Out Who Here.

Khaligraph Jones has been accussed of being aloof and all about himself by his critics but I have met him and I can say that he is a rather cool lad on his grind. And he has proved just how cool he is by saluting another Kenyan great and even saying what it is about the legend that he likes and admires. and that takes humility.

Khaligraph Jones has come out to say that he truly and sincerely admires Wyre for his work effort and what he has done to elevate Kenyan music. This is what the lad had to say:

  Khaligraph Jonez
Am inspired by Wyre,s hardwork, if he has managed to work with international acts such as Morgan Heritage, Alaine and Cecile then brace up for that khaligraph,Kendrick or that Khaligraph ,J,cole or even that Khaligraph, Mariah carey collabo in the coming future, its just a matter of working hard and if you think am bluffin, then watch this space , hehehe 254 i got you

But in his usual style, he was still in the mix. gotta love his confidence!

Baileys Revamps Its Looks With A New, Stylish Bottle

Leading cream liqueur Baileys has revealed a new-look bottle in the Kenyan market, launching a slimmer, trendier bottle to replace its original packaging. Redesigned bottle enters Kenya’s market as brand raises the stake in cream liqueur segment.

With a longer neck and higher shoulders, the new bottle takes a more feminine form but retains its original content, in line with the Baileys tradition of providing quality Irish Cream Liqueur to its consumers. The bottle was launched at an exclusive event in Nairobi, where its unveiling was a first for this market: a 3D projection against Teleposta Towers in the Central Business District that ensured the image of the new bottle was viewed widely across the city.

Baileys_Kenya.jpg

Speaking during the launch of the new-look bottle Kenya Breweries Limited Managing Director Joe Muganda said the new bottle was launched in response to the changing trends in the market, which have seen the rise of a highly discerning middle class looking for more affinity and greater aesthetic connection to their brand. This new extrinsic design by Baileys seeks to meet this consumer taste in class.

Baileys, which is an Irish whisky and cream-based liqueur, remains a favourite of the sassy, sophisticated, African woman, and is the world’s number one selling liqueur.

Why The Clip Showing Actress Brenda Wairimu Talk About Dildos & Sex With Dogs Was Pulled Down By The Producers

Yesterday, Historia Films released the final episode of “In The Forest” in which actress and model Brenda Wairimu opened up to the show’s host Gerald Langiri about her man Juliani, dildos and sex with dogs. However, the video footage was later pulled down after we published the story making most of our readers complain about a broken link.

The producers of the show have since explained why they had to bring down the video. According to Historia Films, they had to remove it because of certain contractual obligations that Brenda has. They however promised to release the season finale later on in the week featuring Chura K (remember Chura? If you don’t, read about her HERE).

Here’s the official statement from Historia;

There’s no censoring or editing IN THE FOREST. That is obviously a remedy for getting people in trouble.. For the 500 people who watched our Ghost 13th Episode, consider yourselves lucky. We never thought we would be TOO EDGY FOR INTERNET.. On the bright side, it wasn’t HOUSE of Lungula that was banned. That is still on schedule for an August Premier..

A lot of people are asking what happened to the Brenda Wairimu episode. We had to remove it because of certain contractual obligations that she has. We will release our season finale later on in the week. Starring one Chura K. Watch this space. Historia Films

Capital FM Owner Chris Kirubi Having Second Thoughts About Meeting Obama Outside Kenya After Receiving Invitation

Media magnate Chris Kirubi and Chief Justice Willy Mutunga are among the two Kenyans who will meet US President Barack Obama during his trip in Africa after it became apparent that he would not come to Kenya.

The Capital FM owner was invited by Obama in appreciation in his role in promoting business in Africa and due to his commendable entrepreneurship skills. However, the industrialist seems to be having second thoughts about meeting the American president outside Kenya.

Here are his thoughts;

After reflecting hard on the invitation by the organizers of Barack Obama’s visit to Africa by passing Kenya, I’m just wondering if I’m any more special than all the other Kenyans. I seriously feel like I can only do what he has done to Kenya. Should I not skip the invitation in solidarity with all Kenyans who have been ignored on his trip to Africa and more so to his ancestral home? Does it make sense going to meet him in other people’s country? I am very proud to be Kenyan and hopefully one day, Barack Obama will also be very proud to have Kenyan roots in his blood.

German Based Kenyan Promoter Tears Into Prezzo Calling Him A Broke Gigolo Who Is Broker Than…

A German based Kenyan promoter has torn into Prezzo with insults and abuse denigrating him and making some strong accusations! The promoter, a lady called Ashley Toto, took to facebook to post a rather nasty statement saying that Prezzo is broke and he depends on money from women to sustain his image. i cannot believe these allegations!

And this is what the lass is alleging:

I am a Kenyan event organizer and promoter based in Europe, Frankfurt Germany to be precise. I have been following developments of the Prezzo Jaguar feud closely. I feel inclined to weigh in on the issue. Why would anyone waste their precious time talking about Prezzo i am yet to get it., especially in regards to Jaguar. The former is in no way close to what Jaguar is, actually, in Prezzo’s eyes Jaguar is out of view, too far for him.

Why am a ranting, well first because i have worked with Jaguar,my associates and i have organized concerts here in Germany where Jaguar has performed and his take home is always a cool ksh 300 000 and above per show and he does shows in atleast 4 cities in Germany per visit. You do the math. As for the so called Prezzo, the frog-faced artist has nothing to show for his music acreer apart from his flamboyance, a shine i should say he gets from women. The man is a leech, he leaves off women. In Tanzania he has a radio presenter who is heads over heels over him and caters for his expenses just to be seen by him. In Nigeria we all know the story, lets not even talk about Kenya.

Prezzo doesn’t do big shows in Kenya, apart from one off concerts he gets invited to in Tanzania, the man has nothing else coming. The Makini herbal clinics are not exactly doing well enough to support his lifestyle either. Jaguar’s wealth has a trail and you can tell where he gets his mulla from. Case in point, the artist is in or was in London recently he has perfromed at quite a number of shows there, each paying not less than Ksh 300k. Do the math and you know he will come back home with more than a mil. He was in the States and Middle East recently where he does more shows than Europe. In Kenya am also told he is the one popping since he released Kigeugeu. Thing is, i dont think much of Prezzo myself and he should keep his tail between his legs where it belongs, as far as money is concerned he cant walk his talk. Heck Jua Cali has more cash than Prezzo, man co owns Calif Recordz and has houses in Nairobi, so el presidente get some money then you ll stop being the president of high school brats who dont even know what money smells like.

Aside from her love for shoes, Pokello has a thing for big machines. Some time before going to BBA, Pokello was encouraging her followers on how to make it big. In a tweet she said,

“Some people think you have to go outside the country to do it big….. am doing it big in Zimbabwe

Pokello then went ahead to post photos of her Lamborghini Gallardo in her compound;

Top Gospel Producer Approached By A Homosexual For An ‘Experience’

Most of us fail to understand why anyone would want to engage in homosexual activity. To the average person, the very idea is either puzzling or distasteful. However, one thing is certain; there’s a growing acceptance of homosexuality in African societies but that’s topic for another day. Last evening, renowned Gospel music producer, Billy Frank, lodged a complaint that he was being stalked by a gay man.

According to Billy Frank who currently lives in the US, the gay man called him all the way from Kenya claiming to be in love with him and wanted to have “an experience” with him. A shock Billy could not make head nor tail of what was going on turned to his friends for advise.

What madness is this….kwani what’s happening with this gay thing in kenya some guy just called me all the way from Kenya telling me he is in love with me…he want us to have an experience …what is going on!!!!!

And this guy is so serious he is still calling me and he wants me to believe he got my number from gay group in Kenya what’s wrong with him ?the worst is that he knows me very well and he knows my stand in salvation did it come this far?when did it come this far?”

Billy_Frank_tweet.jpg

However, the individual did not relent and barely an hour ago, an upset Billy revealed that the guy texted him asking him to keep secret their “affair”. This time though the Gospel producer decided to expose him by making public his name and number as well as the SMS from him.

Here’s A Factual Chart Showing Ghafla’s Rise and Dominance Over The Competition

Every other event team Ghafla! goes to, we always get someone who wants to give us a piece of their mind about how Ghafla! is ‘losing it’ and other blanket declarations aimed at generating fear, uncertainty and doubt in our methods.

Lakini mhenga Jay-Z alinena aliposema:

“Men lie, women lie, numbers don’t.”

So in the face of all the criticism we get, we always look at the numbers to find out the real truth. One of the accurate measures of a website’s trajectory is to observe the number of people searching for the website’s brand name. This is done using a tool called Google Trends. On Google Trends, you can observe general search volumes for your brand over time, and chart graphs comparing your progress with that of your competitor’s brand name. This means that we can plot a graph of search volumes over the past 12 months for relevant entertainment publications such as Ghafla, Pulse, Niaje and Vibeweekly. See the result:

googletrends2.png

The graphs clearly suggest that Ghafla! and Pulse are the only significantly interesting entertainment entities in Kenya. Though I gave Niaje and Vibeweekly the benefit of the doubt, Google Trends gives them a zero on the interest scale. As you can see at the bottom of the graph, it clearly states, “niaje wasn’t search for often enough to appear on the chart,” while Vibeweekly appears as but a token blip on the screen. The final conclusion we get is that Pulse used to reign back in the day, but Ghafla! has risen to take it’s place as the king of the hill in entertainment.

And here’s what tech blogger, Kachwanya had to say on 22nd June 2013 -“I can see Ghafla is now better than Standard Media..some of the stories Standard publish are below those in Citizen weekly”

kachwanya_tweet.jpg

Next time you want to come talking about how Ghafla! is losing it, come armed with factual evidence to back up your claims.

Holy Dave Release Brand New Love Gospel Track? From Gospel To Love Songs!

Holy Dave is a very talented artist. There is no doubt about that. He is one of the few talented gospel rappers who actually have lyrical content worth talking about! And you can tell them Uncle Chim Tuna has said that. But with that said, he has decided to switch things up. He has decided to do a love song!

And here I’m talking about a song with all the trappings of mushiness you would associate with an RnB singer! The song is an everyday declaration of love for his special someone which I guess is why the track is called “You Look Familiar”.

And he borrows heavily from the electoral and campaign process Kenya has just recently concluded; talking about how Ruto got emotional when it was announced that Jubilee had won. The instrumentals to the track produced by Joel Ntihemuka of Fullhouse Music and is what you would expect of a love song. It’s one of those soft, sing-songy instrumentals that bring out the romantic theme rather nicely.

The video which is by my humble estimate quality was shot and directed by Wilson Mwaniki and is based in and around what looks like a coffee house features HD rapping to his love interest as the other patrons of the establishment enjoy his performance.

All in all, this is a nice chilled out and mellow jam with a quality video. Check it out below:

Ghafla! Exclusive: Super Producer Blackman Meets US Multi Grammy Award Winning Producer, Darkchild

Kenyan music stakeholders seem to be breaking new ground with every dawn. While artists are doing collabos with renowned international artists, producers have not been left behind either. And super-producer Blackman seems to be leading that pack.

Yesterday, the award-winning producer was invited by US multi-grammy award winning producer, Darkchild AKA Rodney Jerkins, to his Beverly hills home for a closed door meeting. Ghafla! is yet to find out the details of the meeting but we can officially report that that the two met at his house for a couple of hours with ‘Dreams’ Movie Producer, Marvin Winans JR present at the meeting.

However, according to Blackman, they were “listening to music”.

Blackman.png

Blackman is currently in California on business meetings. This is a big step not only for Blackman but for Kenya as a whole.

Last August, Blackman teamed up with “Kedike” producer, Cobhams Asuquo of Cobhams Asuquo Music Production (CAMP) in a deal that meant all the artistes in Blackman’s label have access to the Nigerian market through Cobham’s label, which they can use to market their music.

Nai Ni Who: Robert Alai, Suzanna Owiyo, Anne McCreath And Robyn Celebrate Kilimani

Nai Ni Who was recently in Kilimani celebrating the area of Nairobi and the event was graced by the who is who in various entertainment circles. From Robert Alai who is a top Kenyan tech blogger (as controversial as he may be) to Suzanna Owiyo, a nightingale who has scaled the heights of international music to Anne McCreath, the owner of Kiko Romeo.

And it was a light night of eating and networking, laughing at jokes and telling stories. It was a polite night of getting to know Nairobi’s history and a chance to win prizes. Check out the photos below:

Willy M. Tuva Announces That Ray C Is…

Willy M. Tuva is on air right now on Royal Media Services’ radio Citizen doing his thing and holding down one of Kenya’s most popular radio shows. And as always, he is dropping entertainment gems and exclusives left right and centre and one of them caught my ear.

As he was speaking, he brought up the rather sad story of Ray C who was hooked on drugs just a few short months ago. Her tale fortunately did not end tragically as the president of Tanzania his excellency Jakaya Kikwete stepped in and paid for her stay at a rehab facility.

Anyway, Willy M. Tuva today said that he has received word that the lass is well on her way to kicking the nasty habit and she is currently working on new material. i don’t know about you but for me this is actually stellar news in no small part due to the fact that recently, leading Tanzanian acts have lost their lives to drugs.

I’m happy to hear she’s doing just fine getting her life together.

Big Brother Africa Update: Kenya’s Annabel in Danger

After yesterday’s evictions that left Botswana’s Motamma and Ethiopia’s Betty out of the Big Brother house, just like all the previous Mondays’ Nomination Sessions in both the Ruby and Diamond houses took place and have left Kenya’s Annabel in danger.

Annabel and Dillish led the pack with four Nominations. According to Housemates the former Head of House is a little dictator that wants things always done her way. “She hardly incorporates others ideas,” Hakeem complained to Biggie about the Kenyan.

This is how the Diamonds Nominated:
Dillish: Hakeem and Selly
Melvin: Nando and Bimp
Beverly: Annabel and Selly
Selly: Annabel and Dillish
Bimp: Annabel and Maria
Hakeem: Dillish and Maria
Maria: Hakeem and Nando
Annabel: Hakeem and Nando
Cleo: Dillish and Nando
Nando (HoH): Dillish and Maria

Once again, Annabel requires your votes to keep her in the house.

Ukoo Flani/MauMau Veteran Exposes H0m0sexuality In The Kenyan Hiphop Fraternity!

Kenyan veteran rapper Gwiji has made some bold claims! And even the way this interview atarted, it was clear that Gwuiji was only interested in taking scalps! He startedby telling the viewer that they have to swallow his opinions!

And with that said, he takes shots like an AK47 “bussin”! The next statement he says is that your favourite rapper is probably a “g@y @ss rapper!” He then concludes that statement by saying: “Chunguza muziki utajua!”

Hiphop is about keeping it straight, street and true -or so he says and I agree with him! Only that he says that hiphop is not for g@ys! And he takes issue with the fact that people have to sell out or as he put it “siku hizi kuendelea, lazima mtu auze roho yake!” He even claims that rappers (local) are made to sign contracts that bind them from ever attacking the LGBT community for them to peform abroad!

And he doesn’t stop there, he still continues to go hard! He claims that rappers have to part their cheeks for promoters who are part of the gay mafia! Shout out to Youth tv for getting this unbelievably explosive interview… I dare say it is the most explosive interview a Kenyan artist has ever done!

Open Letter To DStv on Big Brother Africa

Most people have raised concern about the manner in which contestants in this year’s Big Brother Africa – The Chase are conducting themselves.

This open letter was written by a Nigerian youth, Rare Gentle, a letter which he posted on his Facebook fan page.

“I urge and plead with all African Youths, let’s ask DSTV to give us a BBA where African Youths go and discuss, proffer solutions to solve the problems of our nations, not this morally-loose show where single parents who can’t keep their relationships go into the house to show their fallen breasts, and drug addicts, p0rn stars, and all sorts of ill-mannered people mix up and get rewarded. Ha! Having sex in the public with somebody who is not your spouse?

God have mercy! The demon of sexual immorality has etched its ugly head into the show, hence the next sane option is to nip the programme in the bud.

The BBA is all about immoral behavior and that is why it attracts lots of fans. They even prefer open sex every day. There is no single thing to learn from the programme, they just promote s3x and immorality. It’s time we ignore it & speak up against it, for what it’s worth.

How long does it take to imbibe a habit? Twenty-one days. And BBA runs for ninety days, subtly making people addicts to bad habits. Say No to TV shows without value. A Reality show with immorality is a big No-No!”

Prezzo Releases Video To His Brand New Single “Celebration Of Life”!

Prezzo has teamed up with Home Boyz for the production and release of this video. The video is for the Prezzo’s recently released track titled “Celebration Of Life” which is his musical celebration of everything he has been through in his life like the passing of his father due to cancer, the subsequent struggles his family face…

And his successful entrance into the local music scene. He talks about everything candidly. And for those of you who had missed Prezzo’s rapping, then this track is a treat for you as he returns to his hiphop/rap roots.

The chorus is done by Chess who showcases her vocals rather well. But enough of my prattle. Check out the track below:
