Jua Cali one of Kenya’s best lyricists and front runner for the Genge genre is set to shoot the video for his track titled “Jiachilie” ft Jovial a young female talented artist from Mombasa who just got signed at Calif records.

And that’s not all, it would seem the lad is looking to impress on this particular project as it is set to be shot at one of Kenya’s premier hotels, “Tribe”.

And the models who will feature in the video have been sourced from Opipi Modelling Agency. Jua Cali will be on location from 5pm-10pm. I’m know it will be something awesome!

And incase you forgot, the lad is about to release his new album this month! It seems Jua Cali is aiming for the stars!

Annabel Onyango has carved a niche for herself in both the entertainment and fashion industry.

The accomplished stylist has worked with the talented  Sauti Sol as their  stylist and as Mashariki Mix’s stylist too,she also won the first ever Stylist Award held in Kenya.The young lady’s accolades do not stop there as she is getting yet another feather in her hat.Tyra Banks  and supermodel Oluchi Orlandi personally picked the stylist as a guest judge in Africa’s Next Top Model.

The accomplished stylist had this to say about her job “I am blessed to be doing something I enjoy. It was not an easy start. I’ve always thought that a lot of Kenyans were very stylish but needed a little guidance. With more and more people interested in this kind of thing, the market has just been growing.”

Word has it that Diamond allegedly impregnated a student who kept the baby and is now on suicide watch. If you think this story is absurd, you should probably read on because it gets alot worse! Seriously, this story will soon begin to read like a script to a telenovella.

The lass in question who is 20 years old and called Sasha Juma alleged that she and Diamond had a fling after they met and exchanged contacts.
So according to the lass, the pair copulated and she ended up conceiving (they didn’t use protection) and she made this revelation at a press conference.

Diamond was reportedly not too happy and he vowed to seek legal redress to the full extent of the Tanzanian law and he is said to have engaged his lawyers.

Then comes the twist: the lass’ parents came out to dispel everything she had said alleging that the baby was infact Sasha Juma’s elder sister’s and after being exposed, the lass has become suicidal. Yeah, after being exposed, the lass has decided she cannot live with the shame and death’s cold embrace is more welcome.

Just last month, Diamond was in Kenya and he chilled with Angel Maggie, the lass from KTN’s dating show “Tujuane”.

Celebrity death hoaxes for example.Yesterday the  rumor mill was on overdrive on Grandpa Record’s Kenrazy getting ‘murdered’ .The star joined alive but murdered stars such as Miley Cyrus,Justin Beiber and Lady Gaga.Unlike Gaga,he was lucky that the rumor was contained before it became viral

Kenrazy’s record stable, Grandpa Records, moved in quickly to allay the reports terming them as malicious and unfounded.They posted this:

Say hello to the new host on 1FM’s, OneDrive, Hailey Gachoka. Previously an intern presenter on 1FM’s sister station, Hits FM on Saturdays, Hailey was recently elevated to a main presenter alongside funnyman J.B. Masanduku after impressing the management.

A journalism student at USIU, the 21 year old replaced Tina Kaggia who moved back to Classic 105 after a short stint at the Barclays Plaza-based radio station. Hailey is not new in showbiz as she was once a TV host on Kiss TV.

She now joins news anchor, Leah Mutimba, as the only other ear candy on 1FM.

Last month the story of a fourteen year old girl in Bungoma Mwanaharabu Wamukoya  birthing triplets was met with shock and pity.

The young  girl delivered three baby boys through a Caesarean section and her 16 year old boyfriend had pulled a Huddini and made himself scarce.

A new survey by KAIS shows that Kenyan children are starting to have sex as early as 10-years-old, with girls having more of it. And by about age 20, there is virtually no virgin among both genders.

Well the Deputy County Commissioner Daniel Nduti has decided to nip the early pregnancies in the bud,something which is rampant in Teso South Constituency.Speaking at a public meeting in his constituency he revealed that most girls get knocked up after attending disco dances held after burials.“I have banned all disco dances after burial ceremonies in the constituency with immediate effect because they are ruining the lives of our daughters,” he said.

Those who violate this decree  will face the full wrath of the law his chiefs were urged to be extra vigilant and help curb the menace.

Caroline Mutoko

Remember when Sonko had a foul mouthed rant on Kiss FM in which he called Caroline a number of choice nouns? When we carried that story and the comment section was ablaze with some Kenyans supporting her and others attacking her even worse than Sonko did.

So now the only question that remains is does she care about your opinions?

Tanzanian-born singer attached to Grandpa Records, Nesphory Simbiga Bigoka better known as Kidis (of Kamua Leo hit), has done something that has astounded players in music industry. The singer is completely refused to appear in a music video for a song in which he’s featured in.

“It’s to our disappointed as Katenga Government that Kidis was not allowed to appear in the video by his management,” protests Katenga’s head honcho, Cartel.

Cartel clarifies that it wasn’t anything to do with imbursement as he was ready to give Kidis a princely figure to appear in the video since he understands that he has since been signed to another record label (Grandpa Records) as opposed to when the audio was recorded.

“After talking to his management at Grandpa, we were shocked to hear from them that he could appear in a video in which they were not about to spend a coin shooting,” adds Cartel.

So, Katenga went ahead to shoot the video with the other artist, Sos-P, featured in the song. When the video eventually dropped two days ago, Kidis was conspicuously missing despite his voice being in the song. That’s when questions started being raised.

“Everyone has been asking where is Kidis in the video but we don’t have proper explanations to give,” noted Cartel.

Asked whether there was any beef between him and Refigah, Cartel is quick to point out that he has never had a run-in with the head of Grandpa Records.

“As Katenga we are in the entertainment industry to bring up and support young and upcoming talent”, concludes Cartel indicating why he had to shoot the video with Sos-P alone.

Sos-P

Sos-P is a Katenga Artist who started his music in 2009 and has so far released various songs under his name; namely Number Bizzy, City to City, Sugar Cane, Bumpy Ride and now the commendable Utadunda Na Nani featuring Kidis.

Shaffie Weru is just that guy! He never relents when it comes to surprising people. And he is a real entertainment heavyweight. But one thing I really like about him is the fact that he never changes who is irrespective of who he is around.

After ditching One FM for greener pastures at Classic 105, petite radio presenter Tina Kagia is set to start her work at Classic FM this coming Monday and she will make a return to the radio slot she held while still at the station a couple of years back.

And yes, I am referring to the mid-morning slot which was previously held by Shiko Kaittany. But in a bid to bolster the ratings of the show, the management at Classic opted to go with someone tried and tested, someone who had made her bones and they turned to Tina for that.

Tina will be coming on immediately after Maina and King’ang’i in the morning. We at ghafla wish her nothing but the best.

For a long time, elani has been a name only familiar with the artsy underground. And while most people will have you believe that they have no problem with being on the underground scene, that is never an end in itself. I have always asserted that people who want to make music for the sake of it should stick to singing in the shower.

And Elani are one such group. i have watched the 3 of them with such painful exasperation because they are truly talented yet they have persistently stuck to the underground. I was at a concert they held at Alliance Francaise a while back -I think 2 or 3 years back and I was dumbfounded.

Why would a group as talented as them want to remain in the underground? Is it lack of ambition or do they love being obscure?
But they have finally gotten to a level of magnitude as to warrant a Ghafla article and I had to be the one to do it.

The video is far from their first but it is the breakout single! This is the first video alot of people will sit up and take notice to. The video in question is called “Jana Usiku” and the video has so many cameos from Kenyan celebrities that you know my statement that they have been around for a while is fact.

the track is a feel good party song and the best part about it’s production and sound engineering is that it allows you to hear the vocal range each member boasts without drowning out the instrumentals. Good stuff!
