POLL RESULTS: Preferred ‘The Wedding Show’ Host – Noni Gathoni vs. Sarah Hassan

They are the two hot women who instruct us, and they each have a nugget of goodness for us from Citizen TV’s The Wedding Show. The icing on the cake is that they are each other’s respective predecessor and successor. However, The Wedding Show fans seem to be divided about who the better presenter for the show between Noni Gathoni and Sarah Hassan is.

So, last week we conducted a poll to find out who the fans preferred between the two ladies. Well, the verdict is in;

Noni_-_Sarah_poll.jpg

Noni pioneered televised wedding ceremonies in Kenya, and the trend picked up. The Wedding Show was received well by its target market and its ratings continue to be up there. The show has been airing mainly the medium to high budget weddings, that end up well coordinated and colorful; one key reason why women countrywide remain glued to their screens every Sunday evening, as they ‘look for ideas’ for their dream wedding.

However, Sarah will improve, give her time. She just took over. For one, it’s a deceptively difficult job. Call it the Noni Gathoni effect, because the Wedding Show maestro makes it look so easy, but hosting a reality show is actually a really challenging job that requires a lot of talent.

Gospel Musician Rufftone Gets Yet another Chance with the Kenya Army (PHOTOS)

Father of Contemporary Gospel Music in Kenya, Rufftone, is a very lucky man. After featuring the GSU band in his song, “Mungu Baba” earlier in the year, and then appointed a goodwill ambassador for Public Diplomacy of the Republic of Korea, the husky voiced musician has been given yet another chance to perform alongside the disciplined forces.

The a week now, Rufftone has been rehearsing alongside Kenya Army, Kenya Air Force, Kenya Navy, the GSU and the Kenya Police ahead of the Kenya@50 celebrations later this week. We managed to get a few photos from Safaricom Satdium, Kasarani where the rehearsals are underway.

GHAFLA POLL: Do You Agree With Easy FM Cancelling Homerun?

By the looks of things, Homerun was one of the most popular shows on Easy FM but management has seen fit to scrap it and I cannot say i understand why but I am sure they have a good reason for doing so.

However, this isn’t about them. This is about you as a listener. As the end user of the product. What do you think about the fact that management scraped the show? Are you in agreement with the Easy FM and NMG management that the show needed to be scraped or do you miss the show?

If you were a fan of the show or a fan of Easy Fm then this is for you. Vote and have your say and trust me when I say that the powers that be pay attention to polls such as this. But that aside, do you think the decision to scrap the show should be re-thought and rehashed or do you think it was a wise decision?

Is this the Most Fashionable Female Politician in Kenya? (PHOTO)

Fashion is actually making a foray in the world of politics. It is now common for women politicians to wear attractive dresses and carry fancy handbags whenever they appear in public. However, not all are appealing no matter how much they try. But there seems to be one who knows a thing or two about the latest trends; she might just be the most glamorous woman politicians in Kenya.

Senator Naisula Lesuuda may just be the most beautiful, fashionable, gorgeous, the most glamorous female in Politics. While it’s true that fashion and politics don’t seem to have much in common, they share at least one key principle: In both, you’ve gotta look good and Senator Lesuuda possesses the two.

She recently stepped out in a dazzling body-hugging silk fuchsia dress with all-over ruffle detail. Take a look;

Could her background as a TV girl be playing the central role to her outstanding sense of style?

Meet The Future Of Kenyan Music

The first time I ever came across this lad, he was on a track with Camp Mulla called S.O.S which was about smoking bhangi. But weedy weedy tings aside, the lad is the embodiment of talent. A while back, he dropped a track titled “Nairo” but I must apologies for being in too deep in “political correctness classes” to take notice.

That was before today. My boy Adam got me on this Uneeq tip. Why do I want you to take notice? Well, because I feel he is the heir to the throne Camp Mulla unceremoniously vacated. Aye, I will be the first to say that camp Mulla left Kenyans high and dry. Actually, there will be an article about this later.

This is about Uneeq. The lad whom i dare say is the future of Kenyan music. His flow is sick and his rhymes heavy. Unfortunately though, I must admit that his lyrical content is heavy on the “weedy weedy” tip and living the fast life -Yolo-Swag tings.

But that aside, take the time to listen to his tracks and I guarantee that you will not be disappointed. This lad is the future. Challenge me after you’ve listened to the tracks below:

Bamboo Releases New Mixtape “African Ban2” This Thursday

Bamboo is one of the rappers who pioneered Kenya’s entertainment scene along with his partners in a supergroup that we came to know and love, “K-South”. The group has alot of highly rated albums to their credit.

Bamboo then decided to chase fame and fortune in the United States of America but he came back to pick up from where he left off. That return seems to have borne fruit as he has a new mixtape for you which will be released this Thursday as Kenya celebrates it’s golden jubilee.

The artwork is already out and bamboo announced that the mixtape will be available at the Kenya Music Week. never mind the fact that Bamboo turned to God recently and got saved again. That means that the music on the mixtape was already recorded long before he turned to God. Check out the artwork below:

Lyrical Assasin,Juliani Does It Again

There may be times when we are powerless to prevent injustice. But there must never be a time when we fail to PROTEST’. Elie Weisel

This seems to be the mantra by which rapper extraordinaire Juliani lives by,after releasing chart-topping conscious music such as Voter Vs Vultures and Utawala  he does it again in Fuata Sheria.

The Sarabi Band and Juliani are releasing a song, ‘Fuata Sheria’, on 11th of December, the eve of Jamhuri day. Fuata Sheria is about the state of Kenya’s politics and of the failure of Kenya’s citizens to take responsibility for their contribution to the corrupt status quo.

The song is a call on Kenyans to retrospect and judge, not just the political leaders, but to judge themselves as well, and to ‘fuata sheria’ , to respect the rule of law.

The song was written after Boniface Mwangi shared a list of the scandals in Kenya’s politics from the last 50 years with George Nderitu, the Sarabi Band Manager. They discovered that one consistent thing on that list of scandals was a Government- appointed commission of inquiry.

Together they invited Juliani to collaborate on a song. The song looks back at the maize scandal, the missing free primary education money, the Kazi kwa Vijana scandal and many others. But the song also blames the mwananchi for accepting bribes and bribing when it is convenient to do so.

In his signature voice, towards the end of the song, Juliani says that the tears of the perpetrators has drowned the blood of the victims, in reference to the post election violence. He also mocks the commission of inquiries formed over the years by saying that they take the commission but do not tell the truth.

Finally, in regard to Westgate and in a unity call, Juliani says, ‘ You are not my tribe, but you are my blood type. But it doesn’t have to take a tragedy to know that’.

The song will be released on the eve of  Jamuhuri day, 11 December.

Ciku Muiruri’s Advice to Man. U Fans after a Losing Streak

My favourite EPL team has become the laughing stock of town. Just when you think the trolling would stop, you get beaten again and it starts all over again *sigh*. The jokes and memes on Twitter have been coming fast and furious but, haters, Manchester United has won 20 Championship we are just having a rough time at the moment.

Anyhow, this morning, Classic 105’s Ciku Muiruri had something for all Man U fanatics. Take a look;

Dear Man U Fans,

After news of the guy who netted himself over the weekend it’s time for an intervention. Although it might seem as if your pain and unhappiness will never end, it is important to realize that crises are usually temporary. Solutions are often found, feelings change, unexpected positive events occur. Remember: Suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem. Give yourself the time necessary for things to change and the pain to subside. Do something else. Watch netball. For heaven’s sake, don’t watch the massacre if you’re not strong enough to take it!

This message is brought to you by SSW (Soccer Suicide Watch). Our tag line – It’s never that serious people!

Helping losers cope since 2005.

Regards,
Top of the Table Leaders,
The Gooners.

Brad Pitt Won’t Let His Kids Watch 12 Years A Slave

Steve McQueen’s memoir and slave narrative,12 years a slave has been described as the ‘most realistic’ depiction of slavery. It follows the life of Solomon Northup ,an African American who was born free in New York but kidnapped in Washington, D.C., sold into slavery, and kept in bondage for 12 years in Louisiana before the American Civil War.

This movie casts Lupita Nyongo’  along Hollywood’s big shot  Brad Pitt who  plays a Canadian that works on the plantation where Solomon is sent to work.

The star who plays only has a small part in the movie, said that he will only let his eldest son, Maddox, watch the new film

.
Brad who is also Angelina Jolie’s fiance has six children, Maddox, 12, Pax, nine, Zahara, eight, Shiloh, seven, and five-year-old twins, Knox and Vivienne think the movie is a bit too mature for his kids adding that “Maybe my eldest I would, right now. I’d rather for the others to get a little bit older and understand the dynamics of the world a little more.”

Gospel Singer Reacts to His Powerful 69 Year Old Grandfather’s Marriage to a 22 year old Lady

You may know about this story already since it made headlines on local dailies as well as social media for the better part of last week. If you haven’t, this is what happened: former Transport Licensing Board (TLB) chairman Dr. Hassan ole Kamwaro, 69, married his 22-year-old fiancée, Eunice Sission whom as a third wife.

The debate on Twitter was raging as guys took pride in Kamwaro’s ability to woo a pretty woman 47 years his junior arguing that it is proof enough that as much as the Kenyan man is downgraded by the ‘independent lady’, he still has a voice. On the contrary chics argued that Kamwaro used his wealth to woe the girl and that she would regret.

That aside, Kamwaro happens to be the grandfather to a budding Maasai Gospel artist who recently burst into the music scene with his hit “Laleiyo” featuring Shiru wa GP.

L-Jay Maasai says “I have received several calls from media guys wanting to know whether am related to the newly wedded Ole kamwaro and what this marriage means for the family and my thoughts on the Christian side.”

In his response he says, “Well, The first time i heard that my grandfather was marrying a 22 year old i really had mixed feelings, i did not know what to think or how to react. Even so i think he has his right to be happy and if he has found he’s happiness in his new wife then i wish them God’s Blessings upon their marriage.”

Huddah Monroe Turns Up The Heat In Sexy Outfits (Photos)

She thrives on being deliberately controversial and provocative, she take pleasure in turning up the zing and has certainly mastered the art of attention capturing.

Socialites teeter in and peter out but Huddah Monroe remains a hot topic but the alas! The lass still grossly under performs. The girl certainly has MAD sex appeal and were it not for the fact that she is vertically challenged she would be a very sensual runway model, she may not work the runway but would thrive as a commercial model.

I have seen a few photos of Huddah and this girl’s pics are out of this world so it baffles me why she would chose being a simple socialite and chasing a high when she can chase some serious Mullah by being a model. Here are a few photos of Huddah and whether you love her or hate her you can’t help but admit that they are spectacular.

Caroline Mutoko Celebrates Daughter’s 3rd Birthday (PHOTO)

Can you believe Caroline Mutoko’s little girl is now 3? It seems like yesterday little Nduku was learning how to walk and now Caroline should probably be thinking about putting the exersaucer on sale on OLX! Now she’s a beautiful, smart and loving little girl. Man time is flying!

As any mother, the radio queen got emotional thinking about how fast she is growing as she immortalized Nduku’s birthday.

A year ago today, my Nduku turned 2.
Today is her 3rd birthday and when I woke her up today and she said “Good morning Mama” I got an instant lump in my throat.
So I held her to my chest and prayed:

My darling daughter Nduku I pray for you today, that You will always know that home is a place where you are loved — no matter what.

Caroline_Mutoko_baby.jpg

I pray that You never lose the fiery spirit God gave you – it is the reason you are here today.

I pray that You will continue to show compassion and love to others – as I am told everyday by everyone who encounters you, that you do.

Nduku, I pray as you learn to speak, that you will build others up with your words and that others would not tear you down with theirs.

Nduku, my darling daughter, may You will always know you are truly fearfully and wonderfully made and that God destined for you and I to be together. Of that there is no doubt.

Above all Nduku – may you never, ever doubt you are loved.
I love you – Mum.

Happy birthday Nduku!

Photo of the Day: BBA Host hangs out with ‘Breaking Bad’ Actor

‘Breaking Bad’ is the best American crime drama TV series and if you haven’t watched it by now, you should feel really bad. Anyhow, having to travel around the world and meeting a lot of people, including stars is what Big Brother Africa host Ik Osakioduwa enjoys most.

It is part of his work; he just has to go out there, a privilege most of us may not be enjoying. So, recently during his visit to in Amsterdam for the 2013 Europe Music Awards (EMA)awards he bumped into RJ Mitte.

Upcoming Artist And Camp Mulla’s Kus Ma’s Girlfriend -Tiri- Shares Relationship Advice (PHOTO)

tiri is one of the break-out artists of this year who is also known for being Kus ma’s girlfriend. For those of you who do not know this, Kus Ma is the lad from Camp Mulla who also dabbles in production and was responsible for some of their top tunes. She was recently on a social media site sharing some interesting relationship advice.

The reason why I, your benevolent deity deign it fit to share this particular information is because I agree with it whole heartedly. Honestly, her advice is something I feel betrays her wisdom and insight that are way beyond her young age.

And before I lose any of you let me share the advice she shared which was in form of a meme:

9th December 2013: Ten Things You Should Know This Morning

Today we have had a rather gloomy start to the morning but I am no weatherman. I merely do the Sherlock Holmes bit -stand in the rain and determine that it’s raining. Elementary my dear Watson. But that didn’t stop the weekend from being a hot one in terms of stories. And these were the stories that brought more heat than my duvet did last night:

EABL Honours Citizen’s Mzazi Willy M. Tuva With His Own Beer (PHOTOS)

Mzazi Willy M. Tuva is one of the biggest stars Kenya has seen in a very long time. The man is more popular I dare say than Maina Kageni. His grassroots chokehold is the stuff of dreams. I think only Mpesa is more popular than his Mambo Mseto show on Radio Citizen.

The man is popular for his good spirits and cheer and his humility. He also has a way with people -making them feel as though he has a connection with them almost instantly. And it is only fitting that the most popular alcoholic beverage brand in Kenya does something to appreciate his reach.

Check out this picture of a beer bottle with Willy Tuva emblazoned on it:

What Critics Are Saying About The Somali Pirate Film, Captain Phillips

One of the year’s most anticipated films, Captain Phillips, premiered last week at IMAX XX Century. A Week after the release is a great time to judge the film.

Captain Phillips tells the story of Maersk Alabama, the Mombasa-bound ship that went into history as the first American vessel to be hijacked in 200 years.

The film stars Tom Hanks (Saving Private Ryan, Big, Green Mile) and newcomer Barkhad Abdi. Captain Phillips is directed by Paul Greengrass (Bourne Identity, United 93, Bloody Sunday). The movie has achieved universal acclaim, currently holding 94% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

One of the pirates, a young fellow named Muse, is played by Barkhad Abdi, who has the ravaged, bone-hungry face of a starving child all grown up. That face haunts the movie, and so does Abdi’s extraordinary acting. Muse is ruthless, forlorn, street-smart, naive (he wants millions of dollars, even though there’s only $30,000 on the ship), and even compassionate, all at the same time.” — Owen Gleiberman, EW

Director Paul Greengrass creates an aura of urgency so compelling, so rooted in detail, that we temporarily forget what we know and hold our breaths for two-plus hours of tightening suspense.” — Ty Burr, Boston Globe

Hanks gives one of his very best and subtlest everyman performances. His captain is modest and sturdy; he’s the sterling good neighbor who finds himself risking his own life to save others–in this instance, his 20-man crew.” — Karen Durbin, Elle

The film rips right along and never relinquishes its grip. The format of the last-minute heroics goes back to the earliest Westerns and could well be accused of patness or being cliched–other than for the fact that it’s what happened.” — Todd McCarthy, The Hollywood Reporter

Hanks’ transparency is something brilliant. His face is so easy to read that we not only get his emotions but the complexity of his thinking.” — Mick LaSalle, San Francisco Chronicle

Captain Phillips is a Tom Hanks movie. It is also a Paul Greengrass movie, and the cinematic tumult director Greengrass adroitly captures and sustains in the service of a narrative has a way of keeping his stars unmoored–in a good way–while trumping conventional Hollywood notions of a star vehicle.” — Michael Phillips, Chicago Tribune

Like United 93, Captain Phillips doesn’t take political sides. Greengrass approaches the story from the center out, showing instead of telling and focusing on the humanity of its protagonists instead of their ideals. The movie allows us to interpret everyone’s actions instead of telling us what to think and how to feel about them.” — Rene Rodriguez, Miami Herald

The story begins as one kind of Greengrass film, about an ordinary joe, and then hardens into the other kind, equipped with unswayable snipers and stone-jawed commanders whose idea of a windy rhetorical speech is ‘Execute.’” — Anthony Lane, New Yorker

The result is so propulsive that you may find yourself looking at your watch not out of boredom but because you’re not sure how much more tension you can stand.” — Kenneth Turan, Los Angeles Times

Check Out This Kenyan Series that Predicts what will Happen in Kenya in 2062

Usoni is basically an immigration Kenyan sci-fi television series set in 2062 and paints a portrait of what the world would be like if immigration was reversed and European refugees were fleeing to Africa.

The movie was created by Dr Marc Rigaudis of the United States International University (USIU) in Nairobi and it casts Africa as an oasis, the only place where the sun shines. It follows a young couple who embark on a dangerous journey to reach the continent but before their dream can be realised, they must overcome the worst of humanity and beat impossible odds.

Producer Denver Ochieng explained, “Usoni is actually a series focusing on the travel of a couple from the natural disaster stricken Europe to the now illustrious Africa in 2062,” to TechMoran, adding, “It is a story which focuses on the immigration hurdles of Africans to Europe and looks at how it would be if the reverse were to happen.”

The series based in 2062 casting Africa as ‘The Oasis” when all else is in darkness. In the wake of a global catastrophe an inexperienced young couple embark on a treacherous journey to reach mankind’s last cradle of hope. Africa. But before their dream can be realized they must first overcome the worst of humanity, beat the impossible odds, experience great sacrifice and above all, never lose their faith.

The pilot episode was screened at USIU last week.

HipHop Starlet Wangechi And Blinky Bill Collaborate On This Amazing Track

December is here and nothing welcomes the holiday season like the latest single It’s Another One by Wangechi and Blinky Bill [Justaband] .

This bouncy party track is bound to get off off your feet. The single is off her forthcoming hip-pop  album Art 19.

All this great music and more is available exclusively on Waabeh, Africa’s Audio Market and can be streamed [listened to] or bought via Mpesa/Airtel money  and or with Visa/ Mastercard cards.

Wangechi_Art_19_1.jpg

The thing I like best about the track is the fact that it has merged the best of two worlds while managing to avoid the tag “alternative” music which Kenyans do not usually embrace. The track is something that will definitely grow on you if you are neither a fan of hiphop or -flatly put- good music.

Check it out below:

TV presenter, actor and model Ian Mugoya has finally joined the list of celebs with good looks (no homo) and grey matter between their ears. The Str8-Up show host was among the 2013 class that graduated this morning from the University of Nairobi.

He graduated with a degree in Economics from the university.

Ian now joins Sauti Sol’s Bien and Tujuane’s Malonza who graduated earlier in the year both graduated from USIU. Here’s Ian flanked by his dad looking very happy and accomplished as he graduated from campus;

Photo of the Day: Gorgeous Brenda Wairimu bares it on the Red Carpet with a Backless Dress

The backless gown style is sizzling on celebrities who dare to bare! And award-winning actress and humanitarian, Brenda Wairimu knows that too well as she sported the trend last evening. Brenda has an amazing selection of dresses but the one she donned last evening at the 2014 AfricaMagic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCAs) nominations in Nigeria was simply stunning.

Check out her subtly sexy look as she wore the bareback dress with marching red heels and a blonde wig (which I honestly think she should get rid of) on the red carpet at the event;
