Former Popular Tahidi High Actor Goes Back…Way Back (PHOTO)

In the 70’s hot pants and bell-bottomed trousers were popular fashion trends popularly known as the “disco look”. Then, it was normal to see a man in low-rise bell-bottoms and platform shoes. This outfit is however heartily laughed at just three decades later.

So today, former Tahidi High actor, Freddy (Abel Mutua) decided to dig in the back of the closet and guess what he fished out? A pair of slim fit bell-bottom trousers, vintage suspenders as well as deadstock vintage and retro sunglasses, all from the 70’s.

Check out Abel feeling groovy rocking his 70’s outfit;

Former TPF Academy Defends Ruth Matete’s Choice of Dress

The white short front long back dress prom dress that TPF 5 winner, Ruth Matete, wore to TPF 6 grand finale on Sunday evening has been the talk of town (read Twitter) for two days straight now. Being the mean lot they are, KOT went H.A.M. on the singer tearing her apart.

This made Ruth, take to her Facebook and Twitter pages to post an apology to all her fans for the putting on the dress, something that was met with mixed reactions.

This afternoon however, former TPF principal, Achieng’ Abura defended Ruth’s dress and urged her to turn a blind eye to her detractors. She opines, “Ruth Matete, you looked lovely in the white dress and moved around in it gracefully as you sang beautifully…hold your head high my dear. You cannot please everybody, you will only hurt yourself if you try. Be blessed.

Apart from her role as TPF principal, Abura performs Afro-jazz, Afro-fusion and gospel music debuted with a gospel album I Believe around 1990. She won Kora Award in 2004 for Best East African Female, the award was shared with Tsedenia Gebremarkos of Ethiopia. She is an UNDP Goodwill ambassador. She has toured abroad, for example Spain.

Kenya’s Richest County To Hold Conference & Expo

The Kenya Diaspora Conference Expo & Diaspora Golf Cup Tournament 2013 is a unique conference put together by the Kenya Diaspora Initiative & Diamond Media in-conjunction with other stakeholders like Nation Media Group, KQ, Foreign Affairs Ministry, Vision 2030, KTB, Kenya Invest, KBA, Immigrations Department among other partners, who have come together to take part in the upcoming conference. The conference will take place between December 19th and 21st, 2013 at Safari Park Hotel.

This conference is the first of its kind to be held in the country. The first Homecoming Conference was hosted by the office of the Prime Minister in Dec 2011 ‘as it was more of a strategic means of collecting Diaspora support for the PM’. It didn’t meet the business aspect.

The Diaspora County is believed to be Kenya’s 48th County and the richest, remitting about 107M USD as of September, 2013 according to CBK. This is a county that can no longer be ignore. They have asked us various long and hard questions that need answers, the committee has lined up Experts in the various areas to respond and offer solutions to these challenges.

This two-day conference at Safari Park Hotel seeks to bring together Kenyans living in the Diaspora and returnees to a two day Business Investment Forum where stakeholders drawn from various sectors including the Government, Business Owners, Business Mentors & Advisors, Manufactures & Suppliers of various brands, Hoteliers, Real Estate Developers, Banking Institutions, County bosses among others will converge to discuss challenges that they face in areas of investment and available opportunities.

The key objective is to create a one stop shop where the diaspora can access information they need any time. The intention is to work with stakeholders with a common goal of creating a contact data bank where we know whom to talk to, where they live and what we can do together as Kenyans.

Over 5,000 Kenyans living in the Diaspora visit the country every Christmas to celebrate with their families. This year is special because Kenya is Celebrating the Jubilee Year, its 50th Anniversary; hence more Kenyans are coming home to mark this memorable occasion.

Top 13 Sexiest Female Celebrities Of 2013: The Glamour Edition

Once upon a time, in a far away land, there lived a king, Baba Ghafla. And this king sent a knight of his round table on a quest through the land. The quest was to find the sexiest celebrities and that knight was I. And so a-questing I went on my sure, steady, stead whom I dubbed “Vaseline”. And as I rode Vaseline, I came across the first celebrity lass, Avril.

After so many years as the sexiest lass in the land, I was assured Avril would make the cut. But after a burger too many, Avril, our lass, alas never made the cut. And so on I went on my quest. In time, I came across 13 beautiful, sexy, sassy and sometimes down to earth ladies whom I feel are the sexiest in the land. And they are:

#13. S.T.L -Rapper

#12. Wangeci -Rapper

The young starlet has really come of age and I must admit that almost nothing is sexier on a lass than the aura of innocence. unfortunately, if I were to continue down this discourse I would creep everyone out so let me still my tongue.

#11. Charity Kimani -News Anchor

#10. Grace Msalame -Talk show Host

#9. Amani Amaru -Model

This is one nubile, lithe, tall glass of cushitic sexiness.

#8. Joyce Omondi -Gospel Artist and TV Personality

#7. Bridgette Shighadi -Model

Ed will kill me. This slot was originally for Lady Karun. But I smote the beast so I craft the list.

And you would never guess that she loves the weedy-weedy.

#6. Julie Gichuru -News Anchor and Journalist

I was threatened in the event she didn’t appear on this list.

#5. Brenda Wairimu -Juliani’s Girlfriend

#4. Kambua -Gospel Artist

#3. Xtatic -Rapper

#2. Caroline Mutoko

Power is the greatest aphrodisiac.

#1. Lupita Nyong’o

Nick Mutuma’s Ex-Girlfriend Storms Out Of An Advertisement Set In Fury

When a list  of hot female celebrities is put up  more often than not Nick Mutuma’s former woman Bridget Shighadi appears on the list. The twenty something  year old is a superb  model and also a designer of sorts.

Tales are told of how young ambitious models are exploited  by rogue talent agencies but Miss B will have none of it so she stormed off the set.She later  took to her IG page to make her feelings known and advice her fellow commercial models

Commercial models: Don’t let yourself be under rated, today I had to walk out of a bank ad set cause of underpaying models, just because they think all we have to do is pose and smile that doesn’t mean this people should pay us peanuts! The budget they get for one ad only is too cray cray and here they are shamelessly offering us almost nothing. Know your value and what you’re worth. My hair/make up was all done but until I saw the contract, I was like to hell with this shit! Funny thing is all this time they thought I was fooling around until they saw me get my bags and leave! Lol! I definitely know what I’m worth and to prove that I will always let my work speak for itself!

GHAFLA POLL RESULTS: Do You Agree With Easy FM Cancelling Homerun?

yesterday, I sought to find out whether Kenyans agree with the decision by Easy FM’s management to cancel the radio show “Homerun” and Kenyans responded in such large numbers. Kenyans are rather unhappy with the decision that was allegedly unilaterally reached by the new radio boss who was formerly with Ogilvy has rubbed fans the wrong way and the feedback is overwhelming.

Kenyans are rather unhappy that the show “Homerun” was cancelled and I hope the “powers that be” are listening. Alternatively, the lads at Easy Fm that made the show popular should patent it and move on to the next one like Ciku Muiruri did.

It only makes sense that in this day and age when corporates toss around their staff for the employees to also look out for number one. And if the name belongs to Easy FM then take advantage of Intellectual Property laws and replicate the fomular that made the show popular on another station.

But all that might be jumping the gun. Let’s first wait and see what the “oga on top” will do after seeing this dipstick survey.

Former TPF Principal Supports TPF 5 Winner Ruth Matete’s Controversial Dress

Kenyans on social media whipped themselves into such a rage about Ruth Matete’s white dress, that   I half expected her to be in the daring black dress with a sheer panel that Jamie Alexander had hit the red carpet in at the premier of Thor.

Are Kenyan Celebrities Daring Enough To Rock This Jaw-Dropping Outfit?(Photos)

I just had to see this dress that caused such a reaction so I tuned in to Citizen to see the TPF5 winner in a party in the front party in the back white frock. It wasn’t Ruth’s best dress but it was certainly not her worst. I give her points for taking the plunge and going for bold and I think people are just overreacting!

Former TPF Principal Achieng Abura supported the lass choice of wardrobe by saying:

Ruth Matete, you looked lovely in the white dress and moved around in it gracefully as you sang beautifully…hold your head high my dear. You cannot please everybody, you will only hurt yourself if you try. Be blessed.

Everything is possible these days ever since the advent of Photoshop. You can superimpose your photo with that of any superstar and fool your friends (depending on how good your photoshop skills are). Anyhow, we all agree that photoshop does wonders!

So the other day when everyone was trolling extraordinaire blogger, Robert Alai, about his age, someone suggested that Alai is the late Madiba’s age-mate. So, twitterati @masaku_ decided to prove that he even mate the iconic African leader!

Top Kenyan Journalists Hang Out In Nelson Mandela’s Backyard

“Death is something inevitable. When a man has done what he considers to be his duty to his people and his country, he can rest in peace. I believe I have made that effort and that is, therefore, why I will sleep for the eternity.”

This is one of the most unforgettable quotes to come from one of the greatest if not the greatest leaders the world has ever seen. Last week news reached us that this epic leader had died and the world is still reeling with shock from this tragic news. Citizen TV’s able reporters were sent to South Africa to cover the aftermath of Mandela’s death and this is what went down

EABL Honours One Of Citizen TV’s Top Reporters With Her Own Beer (PHOTO)

East African breweries Limited is certainly the King when it comes to drinks.It has something for everyone, the Teetotaler and the sloppy drunks ,the ones who like it sweet and the ones that like it bitter, the rich and the poor. They all find a home in EABL.

So if a gigantic company such as EABL takes their time and inscribes your name on their bottle, then you know you are one of the big dogs. After honoring popular radio presenter Willy M Tuva with a beer with his name engraved on it, reporter Jackie Maribe from Royal Media services also got her name emblazoned on a beer bottle. Curvaceous Grace Msalame Tweefs with KOT Bashing Kiss TV’s New Look

They say a captain stays with his ship even when it’s going down. Well, she may not be the captain for MV Kiss TV but curvaceous TV host, Grace Msalame sure knows how to defend what pays her bills. Last night there was an epic showdown on Twitter pitting Msalame and KOT bashing the newly revamped Kiss TV.

It all started when one of the twitterati, @Brianmbunde fired the first salvo when he criticized Kiss Tv’s new look saying, “Once again @KeepItKiss takes the crown of being the crappiest station ever.Wanafaa kupeana tu ma camera to KBC.”

This obviously didn’t go down well with Grace who hit back.

“@GraceMsalame: @Brianmbunde @KeepItKiss Hating only adds fuel to the Magic!!”

And just like that one of the most epic tweefs was conceived. What followed can only be described as bare-knuckle punches;

And the blows kept coming;

Then @Brianmbunde evened the score;

But he wasn’t done;

And the wheel kept turning;

And the tweef attracted more guys;

And if you thought it was about to end…

 And when @Amamacho tried explaining, Msalame wasn’t taking any of that;

 And then this;

Then there were opportunists;

Finally, @MacOtani played the mediator;

P-Unit Guys Making Love!

In August, P-Unit’s Boneye deserted the bachelors’ club when he said, “I do” to the love of his life turned P-Unit manager, Elizabeth Wangeci Kihura. However, it appears the rest of the boys have been bitten by the love bug and decided to make love.

Barely days after winning two awards at the coveted Channel O Awards P Unit has released another hit single for their worldwide fans. The new track dubbed “L.O.V.E” once again demonstrates the groups’ musical agility in the choice of integrating “Genge” with a slow kwaito rhythmic sound.

Speaking on the inspiration for the song, P Unit’s Gabu narrates, “We have done several club bangers in the past and L.O.V.E brings out the softer side of our individual personalities. Love defines who we are, what we think, what we do and determines how we relate with other people. This song talks about love and expresses how we relate each day with the wonderful people in our lives.”

“Every song we have has a story line behind it and L.O.V.E demonstrates that through our “Genge” style of music we can also relate to our passion for life and the intricate balance of compassion, warmth and love that has carried us through our musical career.” adds Frasha.

During their recent stint in South Africa, the group took the opportunity to explore the scenic nature of Cape Town by making it the location to shoot the video for the new song L.O.V.E. Commenting on the choice of S.A, Boneye adds, “With time we have proved that our music whose humble origins are in Kenya has the appeal for a wider audience. Integrating our new strategy to take our music to greater heights we are keen on creating border-less tracks that appeal to any music lover anywhere in the world. It is in this very spirit that we believe we can expand our horizons and film anywhere in the world and S.A proved just be the right location for this new video.”

Yesterday, Kiss TV rebranded after much ado surrounding the event and it would seem that Kenyans on twitter were not impressed by what they saw. And as always, they found hilarious ways to pass on that message. No seal showing Kebs approval on this, just hard hitting and biting wit and humour. Check it out below:

GHAFLA POLL: What Do You Think Of The New Look Kiss TV? Is It A Win Or A Fail?

Kiss TV has rebranded with alot of hype and pomp to go along with it’s rebranding. And the internets are ablaze with twitter bigwigs leading Kenyans in lampooning KISS TV and I want to know if the middle class speak for the rest of Kenya.

The thing about Kenyans on Twitter is that they represent the highly educated and economically comfortable class of Kenyans. They are always the first to herald a trend in Kenya’s society but they also happen to be detached.

And on that note, I feel I need to know whether Kenyans appreciate the new changes in Kiss TV or they do not care for it or they do not appreciate the changes flat out. And I leave you, Ghafla readers to give me your feedback. Vote and have your say.

Why Wasn’t Collo At The CHOMVA Awards With P-Unit? Find Out Here

Collo owns half of the rights to the song “You Guy”. Actually, the idea for the song was his. So it came as a shock to most when he wasn’t present at the CHOMVA Ceremony last weekend. Alot of industry insiders wondered where Collo was.

I did alot of digging and found out that a ticket was indeed issued by the powers that be at Multichoice. Actually, after digging around, I discovered that the tickets issued were in excess. They were enough for the members of P-Unit and Collo and a manager who happens to be Bon-Eye’s wife.
Nothing untoward there.

But what happened? That is what I sought to find out. I spent all of last week calling Gabu whom Maura had accused of sleeping around but I got to experience a serious wild goose chase. I thoroughly enjoyed how my time was wasted.

And with that, I feel I can confidently say I know what transpired. And do not let fallacious fairytales fool you -all that double speak about how Collo was busy were nonsense.

Collo was stiffed. and I know by whom and why. Sadly, you shall have to wait until tomorrow to find out what happened. This is a sordid sad tale of betrayal, clandestine love affairs and the best part is that Uncle Chim will be naming names.

TPF 5 Winner Ruth Matete Apologizes for Dressing Inappropriately (Check out the Dress if You Missed)

Last night, TPF 5 winner, Ruth Matete, donned an alluring dress that many Kenyans on Twitter felt it was inappropriate as it rode up her thighs as she took the stage to perform alongside TPF6 winner, Hope Irakoze.

Now, after consultations, the the singer took to social media where she posted an apology to all her fans.

Ruth Matete's Apology

“Having let so many down, I am lost for words to express my sincere apology for my inappropriate dress during the TPF final show. Without making excuses, I must say that I am indeed sorry. The pressure that comes with performance and fame can drive one to make mistakes. I am indeed a work in progress. I pray that you can find it in your hearts to forgive me and not give up on me. I am sincerely sorry for my wrong. I have sought the counsel of my mentors and spiritual cover. I know under their guidance, I will continue to grow and become more like Christ.

Sincerely,
Ruth Matete”

While on Twitter;

“I am very sorry for my in appropriate dress during the TPF final show. Please find it in your hearts to forgive me and not give up on me.”

Sonko’s Daughter (Saumu Mbuvi) And Holy Dave Looking Cosy In Each Other’s Arms (PHOTO)

Sonko’s daughter, Saumu Mbuvi was recently on Ghafla when she took to mixing the 1s and 2s on the wheels of steel. and from the looks of it, she was having fun. That was then, this is now. A photographer recently captured what should qualify as a certified Kodak moment.

My man Vince came across the picture of Saumu and holy Dave looking cosy in each other’s arms. Nah, to be honest, Holy Dave looks uncomfortable. Almost like he is afraid of the shadow of Sonko which undoubtedly looms over his family -just ask Chipukeezy.

And here the picture is. Ladies and gents, a rather nervous looking Holy Dave holding Sonko’s daughter in his arms -actually looks like a deer caught in the headlights:

But Saumu has really come of age. Her mother should be proud of how beautiful her daughter has become.
