Xtatic is a married girl. And that is how my heart broke. But that aside, from all indications, she is happily married and her man who was in the industry long before her took her hand and guided her. He is a video director who goes by the name Mushkin FX. And he helped her navigate round the pitfalls that the entertainment industry has.

Actually, if anything, they are almost like Kenya’s Jay Z and Beyonce… Aye, so that might be a stretch but they are still pretty much in-love and that’s a cool thing indeed.
So Mushkin recently took a picture of he and his wife in one of those intimate moments as they got prepared to step out for one reason or the other. Actually, this picture also shows how simple it is for men to get ready and dressed while women have to do alot more preparation:

My sources at Radio Africa, the parent company of Kiss 100, Classic FM, Radio Jambo and East FM and the social media consultancy company Trinc Media and the newspaper The Star has been purchased by an as yet shadowy South African consortium. This information was given to me by someone very close to the deal but she did so on the condition of anonymity.

The consortium which is rumored to have interests in diamond mining (this is still an unconfirmed rumour as I have been unable to reach any of the upper echelon management at Radio Africa) has bought a reported 41 percent of the entire conglomerate that is Radio Africa. The shares were put up from each share holding group -from William Pike, to Patrick Quarcoo to an Indian group of investors to a Kalenjin group of investors (I am sorry to have to use these crass tribal terms but this is the information as I received it).

The group of investors attempted to buy another Kenyan media entity but to no avail and Radio Africa’s shareholders swooped in to save the day for the South Africans and get themselves what is rumoured to be an elephantine endowment. The share holders of Radio Africa each gave an equal ratio of shares to derive the 41% stake which essentially makes the South Africans majority shareholders.

That said, I asked my source what she felt was going to be the outcome of this sale. What would happen to Maina Kageni (who had early last year hinted at retirement). King’ang’i and Shaffie Weru, Caroline Mutoko and the rest. Well, from what I was made to understand, they are safe -for now. the only people who should be worried are top and mid-level management as the investors will undoubtedly want their own team in place.

Pharell Williams’s song “Happy” has been highly successful, topping the US Billboard Hot 100 chart and charts in 19 other countries.

As late as last night, “Happy” still holds at No. 1 on Billboard’s singles chart for a fourth week, with 490,000 downloads and eight million streams on services like Spotify, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

Further, it has sold one million copies in the United Kingdom, and has reached the summit on three separate occasions, both records in their own right.

The song has become pervasive, including in a performance at the Academy Awards last week, and its fever has hit closer home.

Two Kenyans, Capucine and Tom, decided to remake the song (the video part) and we must admit they did a pretty awesome job. The video was professionally shot and edited with a Kenyan touch. According to Capucine and Tom, the video was made as a wedding present.

However, the video seems to have appealed to more than just the two people it was intended for as it has gone viral on social media and is in fact among the top trending videos in Kenya.

Ciku Muiruri is a strong woman and no one can doubt that. That unfortunately goes hand-in-hand with gremlins and trolls surfacing from deep beneath the dank woodwork to attack her simply because they are intimidated by her strength. But such is life. She however never looks back and always strives to move on.

That being said, I came across her Facebook post in which she celebrated the president of the republic of Kenya Mr. Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta and came off quite like the star struck tender teenage girl fawning over her crash. Check out how Ciku Muiruri was swooning below:

Calif has been dormant for a minute now. no doubt they have been working behind the scenes but in terms of getting some major hits out, they have been wanting. But that’s only because they had been working on an artist whom they feel is rady to be the next Majja, the next real deal in as far as Genge music is concerned.

And I have the pleasure to introduce you to Rajayjay. And aye, I know the name sounds a little off but his music is right on point. The lad who featured in a cypher that I put on Ghafla has decided to go the mainstream route fully and he is making some seriously smart moves if his new track is the yardstick!

The track is titled “Mummy” and I promise that this is the next club banger. But because I do not want to keep yammering and affecting how you perceive the track, allow me to be brief as I introduce Rajayjay:

Lupita Nyong’o is one of the biggest personalities, nay, events to explode onto the scene like that supernova that brought about your mother, planet Earth. And she has been inspiring artists of every artistic persuasion to create. Anything. Whether paintings or videos or muriels or songs. This article is about one such artist who has decided to do a song as an ode to her.

The track is called “Lupita” and enshrines her motivational speech at the Oscar ceremony. The artist Man Wazimu whom I must say is one of Baba Ghafla’s favourite Kenyan  artists has been silent for a minute but turns out he was cooking something up for us to enjoy. The reggae track is rather upbeat and catchy. It actually had everyone at Ghafla singing along to the hook.

The track features quite an amazing vocal array as Man Wazimu shows off his vocal prowess and mastery of the scale. Check out the song below:
