Born Alpha Rwirangira,in Rwanda in 1986 ,Alpha has risen to become one of the most recognizable and outstanding voices in East Africa. After winning the Third edition of Tusker Project Fame,he went on to release an album by the name One Africa that encouraged harmony and brought together a lot of Africans .In the album, he collaborated with big artistes such as Tanznian’s A.Y and Uganda’s Bebe Cool.

Despite enjoying massive success and having hordes of women around him, Alpha is still shy. He is shy in approaching his love interest and that is where Kidum comes in to the story toi try and save the day.Alpha unfortunately fails in getting the girl as he freezes and his mouth goes dry.

MCSK is the society charged with safeguarding the interests of the Kenyan performing artists through the collection of royalties and fighting piracy. They have lived up to that mandate in a spectacular manner, a fact that is evident with the recent release of the list of the top earning artists (royalties).

Now that the formal introductions to the topic are done and dusted, let’s get to the juicier morsels of the story. As fate would have it, MCSK decided to launch their new initiative Usikatsie Ngoma in Mombasa. And it was quite the event. The entire affair was well thought through as information and education and entertainment were all rolled into one and Coastal artists were brought upto speed on the evolving landscape in terms of music.

The thing I liked ;about the enter affair is the fact that they ALL took it seriously from the CEO down.

MCSK undertook licensing of radio stations to raise royalties for their members: musicians. And the entire entertainment fraternity in Mombasa was well represented:

Paul K of Truth FM has just confessed of how he had recently slipped into putting off his times with the Lord because “he was tired”. However, the experience was a lesson to him as he reveals below;

Of Late, God has been teaching me the power of transparency. I am learning to let people see me as I really am, instead of constantly wearing  “The Mask” . The truth is, not long ago, I was not fine. I was in a pit. I was creeping deeper and deeper into it. This pit was not comfortable because it felt good. It was comfortable because it was familiar.

I slip into it bit by bit by putting off my times with the Lord because “I was tired”, managing my emotions by stuffing them down instead of facing them. I isolated myself by ignoring my Spirit-filled friends who always contacted me because the Lord has placed me on their hearts.  Eventually I was left spiritually empty & riddled with shame, emotionally depressed, physically exhausted and in pain. That’s the bad news. The good news is that I’m finally fed up with this pit and beginning to let God shine His light down on me.

I know I can’t do it alone. God created us for community for a reason. That’s why I just wrote this for everyone out there to know that we need to honor God. Somewhere over the last few months I had stopped living my life according to God’s ways in this area. I can’t think of a better way to get back on track than letting it out there. Friends Jesus is coming back for the Church. Be Ready. I now Understand why Jesus said in Matthew 7:21-27 Not everyone who calls me “Lord, Lord’ will enter the Kingdom of heaven, but only those who do what my Father in heaven wants them to do. 

When the Judgment Day comes, many will say to me, “Lord, Lord! In your name we spoke God’s message, by your name we drove out many demons and performed many miracles!’ Then I will say to them, “I never knew you. Get away from me, you wicked people!’  “So then, anyone who hears these words of mine and obeys them is like a wise man who built his house on rock. Death approaches in two ways: Either suddenly or with an ‘announcement’ in the form of a prolonged sickness. No matter its approach death is a harrowing experience.

The Kenyan Gospel ministry is mourning following the passing of one of its own.

Last week, Active Sounds members DJ Lebbz, DJ Vowxs, MC Davy Dee and Eddy of B.A Family were involved in a car accident that robbed Davy Dee of his life. DJ Lebbz and Eddy escaped with minor injuries while DJ Vowxs, who was driving, had more serious ones but is getting well.

A statement from the group read in part;

“Active Sounds has lost a true brother. We pray that God may comfort Davy’s family and give us all peace of heart during this trying time. May his soul rest in eternal peace. We love you MC Davy Dee, forever you remain in our hearts.”

There will be a memorial service on Tuesday 11th March at the Embassy Cinema from 4PM onwards.

Meanwhile, Friends and family are meeting every day  from 6PM at Informations House 3rd floor,opposite Ukwala next to afya centre along Hakati Road to plan for the late MC Davy Dee’s burial. His burial is set for 13th March at Kiimani in Machakos, 7km from Machakos Girls’.

From humble beginnings in Mathare to performing in sold-out concerts in America, Willy Paul has managed to work his way to the pinnacle.

The road to success has not been easy as it has been marred by haters and scandals but the young man has managed to outshine all these obstacles to become one of the most prolific gospel artistes. The Sitolia and Mpenzi singer visited at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue NW in Washington, D.C. and took a photo in front of the Whitehouse whose caption read ‘At the White house, dreams are valid no matter how long they take.’

Alex “Red” Kioko is an upcoming artist who seems to have the formular to success down. he has the lyrical content and the chemistry to carry a track. He also has the thing most upcoming artists find most elusive in check: he has found a producer with whom he can work with and do so well. The lad was first in a Ghafla article when I came across his debut single titled “How I Feel”.

I lost him on my radar for a minute but he’s back again like he never left with a track titled “Look Mom, I’m On TV” and right off the bat you can tell that it’s going to be something different. The sample used on the instrumentals is something I found not just unique but creative aswell.

The track is a rap song that goes in H.A.M on Octopizzo, Kaligraph, Mustapha, Huddah And Jay A and I can see a possible shift in power within the entertainment scene as more and more youngins come up asking for a chance to get at the throne. And since it seems the old guards that hold the keys to getting on TV shows have refused to acquiesce, they are knocking down the doors.

Former Queen of Chakacha Princess Faridah whose life story is a living testimony of how GOD uses people to change lives has landed a job as a TV host. The “Bwana Wa Mabwana” singer who is also a dancer, a mentor and a writer.

Princess Faridah will now be hosting a gospel show called Melodia Mix. Melodia Mix show is the freshest gospel MIX TV show by Roamtech that aims to support artists by allowing their fans to download “Bonyeza” their favorite music in their phones.

Melodia Mix is a gospelTV show aired on QTV and KBC every Sunday from 8:15am and on K24 from 9:30am to 10:00am.

The show which is directed by Link video global under J Blessing aims at rewarding gospel artists through royalties downloaded throughout the program combining a countdown and interviews.

Princess Faridah adds a great taste to the show as she engages the audience through preaching the word of GOD.

Before we begin, I must say first say that I support gay rights. Let that be said and out of the way. I do. And for the myopic fools, it is not because I am a closeted homosexual. But even if you think me one, no skin off my teeth. That said, I came across a post by Joji Baro that broke my heart. When I read it, I saw more than a homo, I saw a human being crying out.

I have quite a number of homosexual friends and they are awesome people -for the most part. And we have an understanding; don’t ask, don’t tell. And here I am talking about them talking about other men. So away from the fact that I know they are gay, I know nothing about their sexual lives. but I have seen all of them cry and pray to their God whenever society bashes them a little too hard.

Don’t get me wrong, African homosexuals are pretty strong, they keep being torn at day-in-day-out and that gives them some thick skin but once in a while, that one comment will get under your skin.
So I can empathize with Joji Baro.

I see here, a human being tired of being humiliated. A human being tired of being savagely mocked.

But I guess, whatever it is the lad is going through, it doesn’t compare to the people in Uganda who are being killed aye? Wrong! Mental torment is just as bad as physical torment. And just where am I going with this? I have no idea. I only hope that I will ignite a spark of thought that will maybe broaden you horizon; you will see homosexuals as human beings.

TPF6 finalist from Tanzania, Angel, is the latest to hop on the women empowerment train. On International Women’s Day, the fine-looking and immensely talented singer has a new release – a second video since leaving TPF.
