Jamaican dancehall artist, Konshens, is making his way to Kenya. The Dancehall sensation, popular among Kenyan ‘yout’ is set to disturb peace in the Nairobi in April.

Making the announcement on his official Facebook and Twitter pages, Konshens revealed that he’s coming back to the 254 for another performance slated for the 12^th of April at the KICC.

Decorated Q FM presented and stand-up comedian, Eric Kilingo, aka Alibaba is the newest dad in town.

The witty radio host and his wife, Wanjiru, welcomed their first born child yesterday morning much to the delight of the new parents.

Baby Taji came into the world at exactly 9.23AM Tuesday morning weighing 4.1kg! (Already doing it big).

The one-time Churchill Raw comedian didn’t hide his joy as he announced to the world the very pleasant news;

When Size 8 was still a secular artist, she was one of the hottest artists around. But when she chose to make the switch from secular to gospel, she became a superstar. One would think making the transition would be a rather tricky one given the content matter and whether or not Christian music lovers would be quick to accept her but she did not let that slow her down.

It is said that when God blesses you, the blessings come pressed down, shaken together, running over. My Sunday school teacher would be so proud that all her hours of Bible Thumping were not in vain seeing as I am still an upstanding Christian! But that seems to be the narrative atleast when we talk about DK Kwenye Beat who has not yet had a song that he released turn into a flop.

I don’t usually listen to 1Fm in the morning. I actually like a lot less noise from the radio. i don’t like all the shouting and hooting that takes place. But I am sure now that Lulu Saida has found her voice, she will take charge of the show -and she has already begun to show some promising signs that she is coming up from under the noisey shadow.

That said, today’s topic was a very interesting topic and once you could filter the noise from the fact, Saida came top asking all the right questions. She was hosting Colonel Moustapha and he was put under the third degree by a very able interviewer who like a piranha caught scent of blood and homed in.

The most interesting question that was asked was how Colonel Moustapha would rate sleeping with Huddah. how was the experience. Colonel Moustapha got cagy. He feigned and dipped from the question and at some point it seemed like he was going to be let off the hook but Saida stuck to her guns.

And he eventually answered thus, “Yuko tu. Siezi sema nini ama nini, yuko tu.“

So she isn’t all that plus a bag of chips Mr. Moustapha?

Xtatic is one of the few Kenyan female celebrities who take care of their bodies and the results are simply astonishing. The m other of one looks far better than some single Kenyan celebrities who have no children. What’s her secret? Dieting and excercise. Jimwat was involved in a grisly road accident a couple of months back and faced the grim reality of the possibility that he would never walk again unless he got an expensive operation done. An operation neither he nor his family could afford. But Jaguar swooped in and saved the day. And now he is undergoing therapy.

But from all appearances, he has his bounce back in his step and he is back in the studio recording music. From the picture I have, it is plain for all to see, he has a hunger about him. Kenyan music is gradually getting international recognition, and hopefully we can get a ‘Lupita’ in music who will go all the way and win a Grammy. For now though artists must go an extra mile.

However, that doesn’t mean we don’t recognize those that are already putting Kenya on the global music map.

A fortnight ago, Candy n Candy Records released a single track, co-produced with an Atlanta-based record label, and we’re happy to reveal that it’s doing so well internationally. As at last week, the track, Nyce n Slow broke into the top 30 chart in UK on Reverbnation and it has been on an upward trajectory the whole weekend.

Today, the Nyce n Slow, burst into the top 5 hottest singles in UK this week. Standing at #4 the single is expected to rise even higher up the charts.

The video for the song is ready for release and is set to drop any time this week.

Twitter is still the most popular playground for celebs to hurl insults at each other. However, there are those of the opinion that 140 characters is not ammo enough; they take the bull by the horn. So, let’s get ready to rumble!

Late last week, newest Dancehall singer in the scene, Blaqy, known for his controversial song – Show Me– that got the Kenya Film Classification Board swing into action putting a ban on it, is back with another storm.

In an interview with Ghafla! the artist dismissed the affirmation that Redsan and Wyre are the best Dancehall artistes in Kenya. Disputing the avowal, Blaqy loudly thought;

Asked about what genre Redsan does, he quickly dismisses him saying,

“Redsan ukiskiliza vizuri brother haimbii Dancehall. Anaimba sijui ni POPSTAR! Yeye na Wyre ni sawa. Hio ni category moja. Wanaimba local…”

When pressed about fans’ opinion about Redsan and Wyre’s music he points out that fans are wrong.

Yesterday we reported that Frigacy – the first Kenyan artist to go public with an HIV diagnosis at a time when very few celebrities would have the thought of laying bare their HIV status – had passed on though a thick cloud hung over the cause of his death.

Well, after speaking to Frigacy’s cousin on Monday and consequently promising to furnish us with autopsy results, Cliff, didn’t disappoint. However, his account left us with more questions than answers about Frigacy’s life in entirety.

You will remember that in May last year, Frigacy, confessed that he’s HIV+ and even went ahead to reveal how he contracted the disease.

However, according to a text we received from Cliff earlier today, Frigacy was in fact not HIV+ and his death was not as a result of the same.

“U had earlier askd abt The post mottum of frigacy. Its out. According to tests, hes blood wasn’t hiv infected..he was on a dose of heroin when he died..we thought he was positive!” read the text (verbatim) from Frigacy’s cousin, Cliff Njema.

So, we called him back for a full report.

Sorry to say, after trying to call him severally, his number wasn’t going through. This only meant one thing: we’d reached a dead-end.

Willy Paul who happens to be one of the biggest Kenyan stars at the moment has been through quite a bit. From members of the collective “Kenyans On Twitter” making fun of him about allegedly flanking his KCSE exams to his haters coming out to diss his efforts while he is away on tour in America, Willy Paul has seen it all.

And things seem to have gotten worse for the lad who traveled to Washington Dc only for his Facebook account to get hacked. The lad who it seems fell for a phishing play (when scam artists create fake websites that require you to log in using your Facebook password and email address) has surfaced to warn his fans.

Willy Paul who is behind a slew of hits has now come out to warn his fans against falling prey to any tactics that the crooks that jacked his page may have in store for them -such as extorting money from them.
This is the statement he issued to SDE:

“A female fan had sent me online link asking me to check out some photos of mine that were allegedly being used on a pornographic site. Upon logging on to the site, I realized that the link was a spam message. It must have been while logging in that the hackers got my personal credentials and passwords with which they took over my account”.

When asked who he felt might be behind his hacking, he said, “I believe that this is sabotage because some people in the gospel industry are trying to avenge and bring me down but no matter what tactics they use, I will keep striving in the Lord”.

On this one though, lad is wrong. He is responsible for the hack.

After years on the screen, Citizen TV’s senior anchor, Anne Kiguta, seems to have an interest in lecturing.

The Citizen TV screen siren is spreading her wings to lecturing PHD students. She’s slated to give a lecture to PhD fellows from 11 African universities on how researchers can work with media to engage decision makers. 

Apparently, this is not her first time to give such lectures. Kiguta has previously given public lectures on the role of media in development as well as children’s and women’s rights advocacy at various meetings of government and NGOs.

Thursday, the screen siren and seasoned journalist will be speaking at the event organized by the Consortium for Advanced Research and Training in Africa, the African Population and Health Research Center and the University of the Witwatersrand, South Africa.

The joint seminar at Safari Park hotel in Nairobi draws fellows in their last year of PhD studies. Kiguta is expected to explain how researchers can work with media to ensure important findings are used to influence public policy. She will also be judging presentations by the PhD students.

Talented Kiguta began her career at Hope FM when she was only 18 and later on moved to Capital FM as a news anchor before making her way to Standard Group as an anchor. She joined Citizen TV towards the end of 2013 as the Group Digital Content Manager-Royal Media Services before being unveiled as part of the station’s New Horizons in News Delivery re-launch.

With a solid experience in matters politics, she now hosts one of the country’s biggest political shows #OpinionCourt on Thursday night after she pioneered a similar show (Checkpoint) on KTN.

Alot has been said about Maina Kageni being gay. There have been people who have spread the rumours with such conviction and ferocity that you would be forgiven for thinking them gay -how else would you know about what a man does in his private time? Maina kageni was approached by my colleague Jeff Omondi in regards to the same question and he responded. I honestly hoped he had put an end to the rumours but they somehow still persist.

Talk about the sword of Damocles! But away from all that. My colleague Vincent Omondi recently caught up with Maina Kageni and after he introduced himself, Maina was kind enough to grant him a small audience. And so Vince managed to record this video. Which video? If you would hush up for a moment, I’d explain. Thank you nibling.

Kenya is a land of very many beautiful women. Aye. That is true. very few can be found in Nairobi and fewer still in Nakuru but there are very many beautiful women in the land -all you have to do is travel around this beautiful country. Mombasa is well represented and so is Kisumu. Kakamega is a bit of a toss up but Laikipia and Narok have some very beautiful women.

But this isn’t about the many beautiful women. My article for a change is not a celebration of me but rather of a very beautiful soul, a very beautiful woman. A lady. And when we had this conversation at the office, the lads told me a myriad of personalities but they all fell short of the glory that is true beauty.

Lupita but I say no. They are all beautiful but they are nothing compared to the female celebrity I am thinking of. Why? Because they are indeed very beautiful and they are talented and each in their own way have showed some sign of inner strength but nothing like the celebrity I am thinking of.

The person of whom i speak has been through one of the most harrowing experiences a woman can ever undergo; rape. And she refused to allow her rapist to cow her soul. To top it off, she is talented -her poems are rather inspiring and she has a million dollar smile.

Who am I talking about? Kiss 100’s Adelle. Now let me tuck my fanboy emotions in and get to the heart of it. The lass is resilient if nothing else. That to me is true beauty. Like Tupac who wrote a poem about the rose that grew through concrete, Adelle would be that rose.

But as they say, beauty is in the eyes of the beholder aye? Which is rather like opinion. And everyone has a right to an opinion: MINE!
