It’s been about ten years since DJ Stylez made his first appearance in showbiz. For more than a decade, Stylez has been entertaining multitudes on radio, television and events of all types all over the country with his extremely admired deejaying skills.

Ten years in this industry is quite a long time but DJ Stylez has managed to remain relevant despite the overflow of young Turks.

Age has certainly caught up with Stylez, he is no longer the spring chicken he once was .But growing old is not a bad thing, especially in Africa, with age comes influence and power and Stylez has gained just that .The Codered DJ was recently spotted hanging out with Kiambu’s Governor, William Kabogo. This was during the launch of the Lari Marathon

Today being #PlayKEMusicThursday, allow me to get right in step with the spirit of the day and get you grooving to some good music from Kenya which is still too raw for radio. And trust that Kenya’s underground is going crazy with all the talent it harbours yet there is no love from the Kenyan mainstream.

The artist whom I want to introduce you to is called Oksyde. And just as the sound of his name suggests, he is a raw rapper rhyming hard and trying to get his talent appreciated. This time round however, he has opted to team up with a fellow unknown artist called E.M. Cee.

The track they collaborated on is titled “Piga Makofi” and is quite the catchy tune. Actually, having heard some of Oksyde’s old music, I can note a remarkable departure from the more grittier style. Seems like he might be looking to get more mainstream perhaps. but anyway, check the song out below:

After Huddah publicly dumped and thoroughly embarrassed Mustapha many felt that Mustapha already sinking music career had tanked further. But Nay!

Something good seems to have come after the whole Colonel Mustapha Hudda debacle .A Tanzanian artiste actually wants to work with Mustapha. His name is Z-Anto and you know him as the mastermind behind one of East Africa’s greatest hits, Binti Kiziwi.

Speaking to Spice Magazine during his latest visit to Kenya, Z Anto revealed that he would work with Mustapha on a track and talks were ongoing .If the deal actually falls through, Z-Anto could just be what Mustapha need s to save his career.

It’s always fun to speculate about who’s making the most money in entertainment. You can easily guess the wealthiest living musicians, but how do they stack up to the richest musicians ever? That’s story for another day.

Africa’s 10^th (and East Africa’s 1^st) wealthiest musician, Jose Chameleone is a man of many firsts. Apart from being the wealthiest musician in the region, the singer has been credited with changing the face of music in Uganda (& East Africa), as well as making local music accessible to the rest of the world.

That, has earned his a lot more accolades than any other musician in the region. Today, he decided to bring all of them out for the world to see. Parading them on the bonnet of his lustrous Cadillac Escalade, Chameleone wrote, “On your way to greatness you can only get there by associating yourself to winners NOT losers.”

The Ugandan artiste who found his niche in blending traditional Ugandan folk music, a bit of rhumba and a heavy reggae influence. He sings in English, Swahili and Luganda.

For those who do not know just who I am talking about, I am referring to the guy that sung the catchy part of the hit song “Tobina“. You know, the part where someone says, “Tobina tobina/ Tobina nyoso style ya kukatika“. That song was well doine and the artists talented. that is why the song was such a hit.

And the guy whose voice was immortalized is Dunco. And before he begun minting all that gospel money, like every single one of us, he had an origin.

His origin told the tale of a real struggle. A ratchet struggle. A STRUGGLE!

E-mail? Phone calls? Face-to-face? Far too passé for Mustapha and Huddah who have been fighting on social media for a week + and it doesn’t look like a ceasefire is about to be called.

Just days after calling him out and denying ever having any relationship with him, the Huddah is back at firing shots at Colonel Mustapha. Last night, an obviously extremely irritated Huddah took to her Facebook fan-page and shouted insults at the ‘Lenga Stress’ hit-maker.

However, it wasn’t long before Huddah pulled down the post. Not to worry though, yours truly got the post shortly before it was taken down.

According to the post, Huddah doesn’t understand why Mustapha is so bitter. Responding to Mustapha’s question as to why she agreed to take off her clothes for him, she says Mustapha only saw her half-naked at a photo-shoot and nothing more than that.

Huddah once again reiterates that Mustapha is not in her class as the men he dates are busy making money just to make the cut on the Forbes list of the rich people while he’s busy looking for fame on social media.

“The class of men I date are busy out there looking to be on Forbes list not busy looking for social media fame!!!!! Hehe! Never seen a man so bitter over a woman he only saw half naked a photo shoot….Chill, at least u got to take to floss with!”

But what does Mustapha say?

Well, Mustapha scoffs at Huddah’s remark about dating Forbes list men saying, “…akapige picha na Bill Gates.”

He insists that he’s move on and Huddah should probably do the same. However he warns her;

“I have moved on, I suggest she does the same,Next time, she should be wise n not leave photographic evidence! Ati anadate jamaa class ya  forbes? haahahahahaha akapige picha na Bill Gates!”

Abbas, one of the pioneers of Kenyan hiphop, recently went on an introspective journey that took him on a collision course with his demons. Take it from someone who has undertaken a journey to find his oneness with his Gods, I know how daunting a task it can be because when you look deep into the abyss, the abyss stares back at you and as is written in the Bible, “We are legion“.

And so Abbas found himself staring at his innermost demons as he sought closure. He gets to approach the very troubling story of how his brother mysteriously vanished from what seems to be, existence.
He talks about being left virtually alone as his parents also tragically died and he was left virtually on his own. A scary position to be in. When you look deep in his eyes, you can tell that this is a man who has emerged from the very bowels of his own personal hell as he takes us through the mind of someone society might rashly label crazy.

But you tell me, after you’re done watching the video whether this is a crazy man or as urban linguists say, “Mchizi” or is he cursed? Personally, I think he is lstrong having lived through everything he has and still manage to make art with his music.

Shaffie Weru is one of the most stylish Kenyan celebrities no lie but we all have a past, somewhere we all started from and unless you were born with a silver spoon up the keyster, you probably started off ratchet and ashy. But that’s the beauty of self made men -the ability to trace your way back to where it all started.

But one thing I will say for Shaffie is that even when the struggle was still ratchet, rough and he still riff raff, he still had a wicked shoe game. You still cannot fault the lad there today. To quote Nas, “One fly boy became a man“. And indeed Shaffie still has a 6th sense about him when it comes to his shoe game.
