Soon After The 1st Lady Ran A Marathon, Jaguar Sat Down For Dinner With The First Couple (PHOTOS)

If ever there was an artist who seems to have found his way into the halls of power without ever having to get elected, Jaguar would be he. he used his passion for music and love for the people to get in real close to the very apex of power in Kenya. He was recently in London for the grand finale of “Twende Kazi” and while there, he ran into the first couple sitting down for supper.

I am sure we all know now that kenya’s first lady ran a marathon and did so for a solid 7 hours aye? If you don’t know that, then you truly must live in a cave.
Anyway, aye, the first lady ran a marathon and completed it which is a very impressive feat. Soon after her display of mental and physical strength, she sat down to sup with her husband, the president of the republic of Kenya and a special guest. Check them out below:

Kambua’s Beautiful Tribute To Her Father Who Passed Away Recently

Approximately three days after gospel hero Kaberere passed away, we lost another great, Kambua’s father Professor Manundu .

This information was passed through Kubamba’s official page .The heartrending message read

“Good morning guys!

It is with deep sorrow that we accept that It was time for Kambua’s dad (Professor Manundu) to join the angels… let’s keep Kambua and her family in prayers.

It is the Lord who gives and He who takes.”

The understandably heartbroken Kambua has not talked about her Father’s demise till today morning. This is what she said:

“On Wed, the 9th of April heaven gained a very special angel, the man I have called daddy for almost three decades. Beyond the sadness is peace in knowing that daddy lived a full life, loved us, served people, and loved God unreservedly. Life is not the same without him, but I am so blessed to have had such a precious gift in a dad. Rest in peace daddy…dance with the angels…

Please join us on Thursday @ NPC Valley Road 2.00pm for a memorial service, and Saturday at Makindu for his farewell.

Blessings and love to you all.k”

Kaytrixx Rants about the Ongoing Deportation of Aliens

Last week, the government rounded up some 82 Somali nationals and deported them back to their country as part of a massive security operation dubbed, “Operation Usalama Watch”.

The operation began in response to a number of attacks in Nairobi and Mombasa in March that have claimed lives of 12 people and injured 8 more.

Even though the government has come under criticism from human rights groups for cracking the whip on aliens, DJ Kaytrixx has become the first celeb to comment on the matter. The SpinCycle head fully supports the government on this operation to flush out aliens.

According to the entertainer, “Anyone who is not supposed to be here in Kenya should be deported”.

“What’s their business??” he queries adding, “It doesn’t matter what part of the world.”

The government has tightened its belt vowing to deport every single person with no legal Kenyan residence permit.

Shaffie Weru Drastically Changes His Look (Photo)

After years of rocking a Rick-Ross- inspired kind of beard, the bad boy of Kenyan entertainment has finally gotten rid of his bristly but neat facial hair.

The Kiss 100 Drive presenter shaved of his signature do for a  tidier look. With his bushy beard gone, and looked quite young as he took this selfie alongside Comedian turned politician, John Kiarie a.k.a. KJ

His fans definitely loved this new look and had this to say:

u look more handsome…so in lv wit dis luk..!  “

“TeamNoMandevu @shaffieweru new born, looking so young!”

What do you guys think of the new look?

Former Grandpa Records Artist Squashes Beef with Refigah

Entertainers and egos go together like quails and their eggs. These egos tend to erupt into full-on cold wars. Sometimes, these rows end in ugly fashion and other times they actually bury the hatchet and make up.

While it’s true that celebs fight all the time, it’s really nice to see them work things out. News reaching us is that Grandpa honcho, Refigah and Majirani have taken the high road and ended their bad blood.

Cracks in their relationship started manifesting when Majirani started having a problem with the way Refigah was marketing “Hivo Ndio Kunaendanga” hit. Majirani then started working with promoter, Opipi who is understandably, in Refigah’s bad books from back in the day.

Speaking to Ghafla!, Majirani says he’s decided to let go all he had against Refigah and is ready to start afresh.

“Me nimeamua izo story za beef staki tena. Nimedecide ata remix ya ‘Hivo Ndio Kunaendanga’ nitaachana nayo na ata Opipi story yake staki ju nilirealize ana issue zake na Ref (Refigah) so kumuengage kwa promotion ya ngoma zangu inakill tu career ya mine,” says Majirani.

To put that into perspective, Majirani is dropping his new single, “Tukumbukeko” that marks the beginning of a new journey in his career.

Majirani_3.jpg

Majirani

Asked whether he considers rejoining Grandpa, the hit-maker says;

“Mimi sina shida na Ref. Tumekuwa tukiwork pamoja before na sai pia akuna kitu imechange. Projects bado tunaezafanya pamoja. For now, wasee waskize ngoma yangu mpya ‘Tukumbukeko’.”

Attempts to reach Grandpa Records camp were futile as Refigah could not be reached on phone. We’ll however bring you up to speed with new developments on this.

Corazon Takes Off All Her Clothes And Twerks! Check Her Out Here (VIDEO)

Uh huh… After vehemently swearing off Corazon stories, i have come across a rather interesting video online of the same lass whose derriere I had sworn off dancing. The video features Kwamboka dancing in what can essentially pass off for nothing -symantics. Simpler than mathematics though because this one is for your visual displeasure.

The video is set in what appears to be a dormitory and in it, Kwamboka has opted to strip off all her inhibitions and clothes and take us on a very weird expedition of what appears to be the love-child of a twerk and belly dance. I have strained my mind attempting to wrap it round this new maneuvre but I can’t…

Or maybe I am just doing it wrong. Anyway, check out the video below:

Meet Citizen TV’s Willis Raburu’s Mother. Check out the Spooky Similarity Between Them

They say there’s no better sign of a man who respects women that a guy who is close with his mom.

Citizen TV anchor and reporter, Willis Raburu, is one of those guys. The towering journalist not only expresses his love for the woman who raised him, but also enlists her as a close friend. It’s hard not to swoon at how Willis publicly thanks her for his success.

I mean, just look at Willis. He’s become a huge TV sensation lately, thanks to his work on Kenya’s number one TV station. Successful and suave, Willis is cultured and his comments about the strength of women (his mother in particular) will win him admiration from sisters.

Meet his mother;

The young girl from the lush grassy hills of Kabale has managed to become internationally renowned and bankable due to her hilarious way of looking at situations. Whether she is disciplining an errant man for soliciting sex from a prostitute, or stealing from the makangas or even giving her landlord a piece of her mind, Kansiime’s skits always leave her in stitches.

Bu Kansiime is not all about making us laugh; she can also make us stare. The comedian recently stepped out for her 27th birthday looking every inch the diva in a cleavage baring top

Jimwat the Artist with 9 Lives is Now Back! (PHOTO)

Entertainers’ popularity waxes, wanes and sometimes even fizzles out completely. Over the years, the Kenyan music scene has seen countless number of artistes who disappeared from showbiz never to be heard from and are now struggling to make a comeback a few years down the line.

Calif Records’ genge rapper, Jimw@t is now ready to make a comeback even as it seems impossible to step out of the shadows and back into the spotlight.

If there’s any artist who has 9 lives like a cat is Jimw@t. He’s been through very thick state of affairs and at one point we almost thought he was done especially after he fizzled out from the music scene and dogged by drug addiction menace.

But like a phoenix he rose again and just as he was about to give his career a kick-start, he was dealt another blow; Jimw@t was involved in a grisly road accident that left him bed-ridden for the better part of 2013, a period which he was meant to make a comeback.

But that was not the end of his streak of bad luck as sometime last month, he lost his dad.

However, Jimw@t is now ready to succeed despite all the odds and regain his stability and become more popular than ever.

Here’s Jua Cali and Clemmo when they announced Jimwat’s comeback;

Huddah Monroe’s Ex Prezzo Kisses Vera Sidika

As you are all aware, curvaceous Vera Sidika was the lead girl in Prezzo’s new hit ’My Gal’ off his upcoming album ‘Rapcellency’.

This is despite the fact that Huddah was Prezzo’s ex love and is Vera Sidika’s nemesis. Anyhow beef aside, Vera Posted this photo of Prezzo planting a wet one on the buxom Video Vixen.

The Day the Public, the Media & the Government “KILLED” Local Content

Artists are complaining, producers are complaining, writers are complaining and funnily enough even the media is complaining! The question has always been; who is to blame as much as promoting local content is concerned, and from there the cat and mouse games starts, shifting blames, but here’s the truth.

First of all, The Public – The public (in this case Kenyans) play a major role in promoting local content, they have the power to decide whether to listen/buy to your music or watch your movie/show hence deciding your fate in the entertainment industry.

people_party_disco_1920x1200_wallpaper_www.wallpaperno.com_40.jpg

Kenya has the most rigid crowd have I have ever witnessed anywhere in this world, and I can prove that any day anytime. It’s only in Kenya where an established artist will have a show and the tickets are going for a low as Ksh. 500, then you see only 100 people crawling in. Then I wonder how much the artiste walks away with, considering there are also bills to be payed. If you think Ksh.500 or Ksh.200 is too much for Kenyans, then you are wrong, since I can remember last year during the Kenya at 50 celebrations, Safaricom together with the government brought almost all Kenyan artistes and Jamaica’s Tarrus Rilley at Kasarani for a totally free event, but still my dear Kenyans couldn’t even fill the stadium!

Enough of attending events, do we even buy the original music or film? The answer is NO, this is so sad, having it in mind that you’re the same person who will go around telling your friends how you saw an artist or an actor in matatu, how they have low quality videos and more of Negative things. Do we even visit theaters to watch our plays or we just make sure we are the first ones to watch Captain America on it’s premiere day.

11_s.jpeg

There is just too much I can talk about Kenyans, but hey, let’s support and build KENYAN CONTENT.

Secondly, The Media – Yes, the media has greatly contributed to the death of local content. Every time I’m doing an interview with an artiste or a producer, what always comes up is “We don’t get enough airplay” which has now turned into a cliché. Most of our radio stations don’t play local music, and if they do, it’s during a one or two hours segment then everything goes back to normal (in this case playing “Caro”,”wine n kotch and the rest).
What about our TV stations? I will leave it to you to answer that. Comedia and Radio presenter Jalango’ has this to say ” An artist, you will also have your song played if you match the international production quality, as a presenter I want to play R Kelly then play your song and don’t feel the difference in production quality. Some artists killed themselves before even the government killed them!“. There you have it.

Moving on to The Government, Which through the Youth Fund released Ksh300 million to promote local music and film industry but several months later there was nothing. I reached out to the Chairman,Youth Enterprise Development Fund.Government of The Republic of Kenya (before his replacement) and this is what he said ” You can’t say we don’t support local content, we will be launching the take 254 leta action in the next few weeks“. However TV host, Actress and Writer Lucy Waigera says “What support does local content ever get from the government? To be honest, are there even labor laws governing or protecting actors in terms of pay or contract?. They keep saying they will regulate laws for content and give local content 70%, all I see is more soaps. Though some are supportive, the public is just full of haters who rarely appreciate any work. If we speak swahili, we are trying to be Tanzanians”

Conclusion: We all have roles to play in promoting our own. Let’s visit the theaters, buy original local movies and music and most importantly stop hating our own. The media, stop complaining how expensive it is to air local program or play local Music hence flooding our screens with South America “Sh!t”. The government should do it’s best, to make sure we have a generation of creative people not good listeners and watchers.

Who will tell our stories if we don’t ?

Lupita Nyong’o Comes Out In A Strong Show Of Support For Homosexuals In Uganda

Lupita Nyong’o is one of the hottest commodities in Hollywood and that is after her spectacular display on 12 Years A Slave. And inspite of my well informed guess, she took home an Oscar -an unprecedented feat by the way. But over the weekend, she was at the 25th annual GLAAD Media Awards took place in Beverly Hills on Saturday.

First off, for those of you who do not know, GLAAD stands for Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation and is a U.S. non-governmental media monitoring organization which promotes the image of LGBT people in the media.
That means that by showing up, Lupita Nyong’o is taking a huge and influential stand for human rights! She also got to unveil a documentary on homosexuals in Uganda, a documentary called “Call Me Kuchu“.

Check her out at the gala below:

And just so you know (well, if I didn’t inform you then this would be a wasted article would it?) she won an award. Our girl (yes, i too happen to be Kenyan) presented an award.
