Chocolate City Music in collaboration with Reel TV present THE RISE OF THE QUEEN a reality series covering Victoria Kimani behind the scenes for the last couple of months.

The reality series follows her as she records new music, goes for radio and TV interviews, and meets with some of the biggest names in the Nigerian entertainment scene, to her opening for the legendary Mary J Blige.

The show, which will start airing online weekly from the 8th of April on Victoria’s YouTube channel, contains webisodes of premium content all during Victoria’s stay in Nigeria. The mini documentary also reveals her interaction with her team at the Chocolate City label and other influential media people, putting a strong emphasis on her lifestyle so fans of Queen Victoria can know what she is up to and how she “rolls”.

So, don’t forget to put the 8^th of April on your reminder, and get ready for a no holds barred experience with the Queen, on her YouTube channel.

The Kenyan radio is flooded by a bevy of singers, actors and other entertainers. The likes of DnG, Monique, Naomi Ng’ang’a among others have landed radio gigs thanks to their prowess in their particular fields.

Well, in February, Capital FM began its journey of finding a new radio presenter; what is being referred to as The Capital One, which led to thousands of video auditions being submitted.

Among those who submitted their videos for auditions is Emmanuel Oluoch Nyakwada better known in showbiz as Point Blank. The killer emcee & Channel O Emcee Africa Champion is among the 22 finalists shortlisted by Capital FM yesterday out of the 200 submissions.

Point Blank wants you to help him clinch the title by voting for him.

The Riara University has joined forces with Penya Africa and Sub Sahara Limited, to take Penya’s Sauti Academy artist development program to the next level.

Starting May 2014, the Sauti Performing Arts Institute (SPAI) will be a fact; introducing a 1-year Certificate program in Music in conjunction with the prestigious Riara University.

Penya Africa and Sub Sahara share a wealth of experience in the development and management of internationally successful acts, such as Sauti Sol, Camp Mulla, Just a Band, Muthoni the Drummer Queen, Kayamba Africa, among many others. SPAI is the result of a partnership between these two industry giants and Riara University. The course will be housed at Riara University’s Mbagathi Way campus.

SPAI aims to equip talented musicians with the necessary musical skills and business knowledge to start and sustain a professional entrepreneurial career in the music industry.

Apart from having completed and passed O-level (or equivalent) education, prospective students will have to pass a highly competitive audition program in which they prove a sufficient level of talent and proficiency on their instrument of choice (including voice).

In this unique program, that has been structured around the latest music industry needs, students will not only develop their musical skills to a professional level but also study the historical context of popular music in Africa and beyond as well as the current music industry structures and business practices.

Late last month as Jay Z threw a classy shade at Drake he shouted out at Lupita for that all important Oscars win.

And now our Oscar girl has decided to return the favour. Lupita confirmed that she had indeed heard the shout-out and admitted that she was thrilled to have received a ”shout-out” from the 44-year-old rapper.

In a tweet directed at Jay Z and Jay Electronica, using their surnames, the award-winning Kenyan actress wrote,

“Dear Mr. Carter & Mr. Thedford, your shout-out made me screech with glee. Mad BK & NOLA love. #WeMadelt – LN @SC @JayElectronica.”

During The Big Brother Africa All stars edition, friendship between Nigerian heartthrob Uti Nwachukwu and Homeboyz’ presenter Sheila Kwamboka blossomed.

The two were so in sync that people actually thought they were dating. Sheila Kwamboka was gracious enough to come to the office to elaborate what was really cooking between her and Uti.

She said that “Uti and I have always been just friends people just thought that something more was going on since we were so close. I heard that he cried like a baby when I left.”

It’s Thursday; you know what that means apart from the fact that the weekend is just a day away. We also go back to the good old days.

A couple of days ago, on April 1st I believe, word broke out about Jimwat being dead. The tragic news was broken first on Twitter and left me swimming as I tried to get more information on the matter. It was a case of halves as I half believed it but I remembered the Gregorian calendar and thus the day -April Fools.

And even as I was scrambling to get the full details, the story took a new twist; apparently, it’s not Jimwat who is deceased but his father. And this news was also broken on Twitter. This was how I came across the information:

I have since been attempting to reach Jimwat or his family for clarification to no avail. The situation is still unclear but more than one source has told me that it is his father who passed on to grace. I shall keep you posted as the situation unfolds.

Look, we totally love it when celebs fungua roho because they let out their deepest secrets unknown to many people. Sauti Sol’s towering vocalist & guitarist, Bien Aime Baraza, just did that.

You’ve previously heard that Sauti Sol is a ladies-band but what you never knew is that Bien was once the real ladies-man AKA Le Machete. This made him break up with his first love after he cheated on her.

Here’s his confession as published on his blog;

I’ve been in love only once in my 26 years of breath. She was the sweetest thing ever (well of course before I screwed it up big-time with my then cheating /boyish ways) I have since become a man and a lot on that end has changed. We however mended fences and are cool to this date (at least I feel so) our relationship was founded on all the right things. We were friends first, then lovers. We knew each other for around five months until one day I realized I miss her more than usual and the rest is history. She wouldn’t let me touch or kiss her until we were official. And when I eventually did I felt butterflies. Sweet huh!!!!

There after I’ve been in situation-ships. I call them so because they lack the basic friendship foundation and dive deep into a roller-coaster of emotional steroids. We meet and I start hitting on you on the spot. Then we hang out a couple of times later, do the deed on repeat basis and one day you introduce me as your boyfriend and I don’t mind how it sounds. Then we start to realize we lack common interests. That I fart loudly in my sleep and it pisses you off. Basically we come to the realization that besides great sex we speak different languages of life. I’m a Jazz-head you’re a Trap-head, I talk events you talk people. But at this point we’ve invested so much in it that when one person cuts loose it ends up hurting the other pretty badly.

Unfortunately my career makes it very hard for me to meet genuine people for love interests. I just can’t ask a chic out on a date without her anticipating me to bust a move. Some simply say no because of pre-sets in their mind telling them I’m a hit n run!!! (Your loss) I’ve stopped looking for love in all the wrong places. I’ve taken a step back to re-examine myself and hopefully in my quest for greatness the universe will align me with someone who compliments/completes me. For now, I just want to know your name and maybe sometime we could hook up, hangout just chill. (musicsoulchild).

Zen Magazine caught up with the former leading Lady of Camp Mullah, Miss Karun to find out if there were chances that she could go back to Camp Mulla or whether she has thought of collaborating with Camp Mullah.

Zen: Any Plans to Collaborate with Your former group members or going back to the group in the future?

Karun: Not at the moment. I did a couple of unreleased songs with them before I left though you know with these things, you can have a hundred recorded songs and only release 10.For now the break is much needed.

We all know those lasses that were hot while single and a year into their relationship, turn become your regular marms and after that, all hell breaks loose aye? Last night saw some of the most riveting performances ever where musicians such as Muthoni Drummer Queen and Sauti Sol took to the stage in honor of the late rap legend, E-Sir.

This was at Carnivore Restaurant where Industry Nite was taking place, Industry night seeks to celebrate Kenyan Music by giving a platform to artistes to entertain their fan. Upcoming artistes are also not left behind and are given a chance to share what they have got as curtain raisers.

The platform also gives upcoming artistes a chance to showcase their talent as curtain raisers.
