When feminists decry the objectification of women, “meninists” find every reason to celebrate when images of nude and semi-nude women flood movies, magazine covers and of course the internet. The craze for undressed images of women has quickly become an African problem.

However, due to the fact that it’s all too obvious and difficult to ignore, the focus shifts to sexual objectification.

Well, super-producer Tedd Josiah has decided to get it off his chest what he feels about the objectification of African women. In a short and hard-hitting note to African ladies, Josiah urges them not to ape the “lost society”.

He writes;

“Dear African Queens,

At this point in time when the world is busy making objects out of women and commercialising them like things for sale specially in the 1st world. I think you African women can show that there is a better way to be beautiful, graceful, sexy and attractive in an African way…… Don’t ape a lost society but show that lost society a better way.”

There have been varied reactions to NTV’s ‘Campus Diva’ expose. A large number of people are shocked, not by the fact that the young med students is seeing older men but because she had the boldness to admit it to the nation.

Others are blaming the parents and also the government for not providing financial aid to needy students.

The female student leaders (SONU) have declared this an isolated incident and have declared that the girl’s behavior does not represent the behavior of all female students

Irene Kendi, the vice Chair was of the opinion that poverty was what was driving students to immorality and more financial help from the government would help save the needy students from prostituting themselves . A stern warning was also sent to the old men dating her girls would be dealt with ruthlessly

Vera Sidika has been on the receiving end of a constant stream of negative online comments, brusque vindictiveness ,a little ‘lighthearted’ snide remarks from ‘friends’ ,or a diss camouflaged as a compliment from ‘supporters’. This is all due to her skin lightening/bleaching procedure.

Former hits F.M/Kiss 100 presenter Miss Mandi gave her two cents in the issue, defending Vera and urging parents to ‘stop expecting celebs to raise their daughters ’

Here is how her statement read in whole:

“A lot of people seem to be up in arms over Vera Sidika’s decision to lighten her skin. When I watched her recent interview I got to appreciate Vera more in the sense that, she made the decision to lighten her skin for herself. On the show she did not encourage anyone to lighten their skin or even say that she is a role model. So why do people expect famous people to be role models when they are doing things for themselves?

We live in a society where a lot of people have group think, not a lot of people reason for themselves and that’s because the society has made a lot of people be a part of it. Whatever someone chooses to do, one needs to realize that they did it for themselves first not for the society because that is THEIR business. Several people expect famous women to raise their girls yet that is not how it should be. We should be teaching people to critically think about the choices they want to make. We need to have discussions about colourism instead of why Vera bleached herself only then is when we will realize where the issue lies. Any grown woman over the age of 18 makes decisions for herself because she is entitled to them, STOP EXPECTING THEM TO RAISE YOUR DAUGHTERS. Stop projecting your ideals onto others. You may not like what someone is doing but at the end of the day respect them. Wacha watu waishi vile wanataka, you worry and focus on you.

This was revealed a few hours ago when the nominees for this year’s Kalasha Film & TV Awards were unveiled. The two NTV shows were nominated in the category; Best Stand Up Comedy and will square it out with the likes of Vioja Mahakamani, Vitimbi and Classmates.

GOSPEL PODIUM

Gospel Podium is a monthly event dedicated to Launching New music as well as celebrating the Gospel industry players. Organized by Sakata Media.., a Kenyan based production company that has capitalized on audio, video and TV production, saw the need of coming up with such an event to help Gospel artistes get to the lime light.

Just as the name suggests, it Gives platform to artistes to showcase whatever new they have (Can be that the artist is new, he/she gets the platform to launch themselves. Also the artist may not be new but he/she has a new video or audio hence qualifying to be given the platform).

Benefits to the artistes…

It’s only at Gospel podium where an artist gets the opportunity to meet all the Industry players at once. (These are fellow artistes, Gospel TV/Radio presenters, Gospel Djs, Producers, Promoters etc…)

The most interesting thing about this is the fact that these various personalities are the audience at Gospel Podium.

They are meeting the right people in the Gospel fraternity, people that are able to show them the right way to go in terms of production quality as well as content delivery.
They get to mingle with fellow Gospel artistes, enabling them to learn more from each other i.e. ups and downs in their various Gospel Music Ministries.
They get the rare opportunity to explain themselves to the right people, every show- casing artiste is given time to introduce themselves and expound their various titles to the audience.
It’s advantageous since the presenters, Djs and TV content developers present at the meeting get to know these artistes and their music better, enhancing their chances of getting airplay.
Their Music distribution and marketing is also enhanced, a table is normally set for media gifts.., where they drop their albums or singles for Media personalities. These and so much more helps the artistes excel in their Music Career as Gospel Musicians hence the Goal of Gospel Podium.

Vera Sidika and Pendo’s Reality Show Will Be Ratchet!

Following in the footsteps of her fellow ‘socialite’ and entrepreneur America’s Kim Kardashian,Vera Sidika is set to have a new reality show!

It will just not be a reality show, it promises to be Love and Hip-hop Kind of ratchet. There will be catfights, there will be drama, weaves will be pulled out, earrings removed and slaps exchanged,this is according to our source.

This is not the first time Vera has tried to launch a reality show,the first attempt was a show that was referred by its initials N.D due to production policies’ and was still on its early stages before it was shut down. This was because one of the cast members, K24’s new anchor who did not want her image tainted as she also had a career in TV and the show was too ratchet for a TV anchors image.

The second attempt was the one she was to launch a reality show with KTN where Vera would train socialite but they fell out over pay issues.
