First off, let me start by saying that I saw a report on NTV titled Campus Diva and I wanted to share the absurdity that my eyes were subjected to. So a lass who goes by the names Catherine Aluoch decided to treat the nation to her sweet life which is afforded her by her sugar daddy. I must admit that everything about this report has left me butthurt.
The lass toasts the good life claiming a luxury apartment that was bought for her by her sugar daddy -although they try to sanitize that word, I do not care to so I shall call him what he is. In the report, she says she got her taste for older, lecherous men from her father who treated her mother well and so ever since she was little, she knew she wanted that.
If this were the case, she would have standards for her men, not resort to a sugar daddy but I digress.

Sauti Sol’s latest video ‘Nishike’ was a double edged sword, on one side they were able to come out of the box and express themselves as artistes and in the process please and gain hordes of fans, on the other hand, major corporate were not too excited about the casual flaunting of oily chiseled abs and found the video a tad ‘too hot for their brands’.

Hip-hop (whether Gospel or otherwise) has always been primarily a celebration of black masculinity. Sure, there have long been significant black female and white male figures, but the majority of the conversation in hip-hop is and has always been about the actions, thoughts, feelings and ethos of black men.
This even explains why there haven’t been any female rappers nominated in the hip-hop category of Gospel’s biggest awards, Groove Awards. But this hegemony couldn’t last forever. Eventually the throne had to be shared.
With the rise of female hip-hop rappers in Gospel, it was bound to change. And that’s why this year, fast-rising Gospel rapper, Dee, was nominated in a male-dominated category and ended up being crowned the winner, Hip Hop Song of the Year.
Dee proved that indeed she’s a force to reckon when she beat competition from the likes of Kris Eeh Baba, Kelele Takatifu, Christ Cycoz, Eko Dydda and Ken Eddy Krezi.
But just who is Dee?
While we might all know her as the pretty girl from Tahidi High, she shocked us all when she proved that she can rap too…and win awards!
Her journey began in January 2013 when she released her first song on January 5th and a few months later, she was taking home the New Artiste of the Year award at the Xtreem Teeniez Awards.

Neema Ntalel discovered her love for music while in High school and following that discovery, she was in every associated club and group; school choir, drama club, student music groups and many of these garnered her several school awards.
Later as she continued to perform and sing, Neema began a clear pursuit for a career in music and her first single, ‘Impressions of love’, was a song about the different images of God’s love for mankind. This single was then nominated for an AGMA- American Gospel Music Award, for best international act in 2003.
In 2005 Neema was nominated and won at the All Africa KORA Award for best female artist-Eastern Africa. This award led to a six week tour in Canada, her first music tour. Since this initial tour, and over the years, Neema has been part of several others to countries like the USA, Netherlands, Zimbabwe, Uganda, Tanzania, South Africa and Mozambique.
Earlier in 2010, Neema was part of the theater production, ‘Daughters of Africa’. . Neema says she was part of this production because it presented the bright and correct image of her homeland.
