I came across a photo of when Octopizzo was just a young lad and the mention of his name did not even elicit any reaction.

Did This Popular Artiste Fake His Own Death?

Earlier this year in March, a celebrity death rumor was started, which was just the latest in a huge series of death hoaxes that plague celebrities.

The story which was started by a guy named Cliff Njema ,Frigacy’s cousin declared that Frigacy was dead. The struggling singer allegedly died in unclear circumstances. It was said that before his untimely death, Frigacy had been taken ill at the Murang’a District Hospital after he started feeling “very weak”.

Yesterday as I was going through Frigacy’s timeline I learned that he was in fact alive and well with his latest activity being as recent as15th July this year.

frigacy.jpg

I called up Joji Baro who confirmed that Frigacy was ‘very much alive’, attempts to contact Frigacy has however bore no fruits.

Frigacy has been known to share poppycock stories in order to gain traction and this could be yet another publicity stunt or his cousin maliciously faked the story. We will update you on this story as soon as we reach Frigacy, keep it Ghafla for more of this curious tale.

And Finally. ‘Nairobian’ Writer Comes Out In Support Of Njoki Chege Who Blames Men Cheating On Women’s Fat and Laziness.

Njoki Chege really knows how to rock a boat and make waves.Huge controversial waves. The Nation writer caused chaos anger and disorder when she claimed that fat, being a nag and being utterly unstylish would push a man to cheat.

Needless to say a lot of women (me included) were up in arms over her claim especially the married women who were being ‘addressed’.

Kate Mukei, a writer with The Nairobian had this to say about the contentious article:

cate_mukei_words.jpg

I have never been married and so maybe I should not comment on this but why are ya’ll women mad @ Njoki Chege? Or is she lying? Men are visual beings. They don’t want a fat, lazy, boring, unstylish and a
sickening nag!

Samsung ‘Ziki’ Star Winner Releases debut single Produced by Wyre and J Blessing

Malawian gospel artiste Daniel Chikwaza has released his debut single titled “I can’t believe it,” becoming the latest entrant in Kenya’s rapidly expanding gospel music industry.  The release of the single – produced by Wyre at his Lovechild Records – attests to the tremendous growth of music genre, as more artistes use the platform to deliver the gospel.

Chikwaza, who is also a third year Communications student at Daystar University, won the second edition of the talent search competition, Samsung Ziki Stars last year. His win entitled him to a fully sponsored production of a single and one video by Samsung Electronics East Africa.

The competition’s first winner was Lyra Aoko, who has gone on to produce songs like ‘Happy’, a collaboration with Wyre, as well as featuring in songs by Nick Mutuma and Collo.

The second edition targeted university students with auditions held in Kenyatta University, USIU and Daystar University.

Chikwaza says that the song is a manifestation of God’s amazing love in his life.

“With this song and more to come, I hope to touch the lives of many and spread hope and the gospel of Christ to all corners of the world,” he adds.

Chikwaza plans to showcase his versatility by cutting across different music genres, and says he will be alternating from house, soft rock and Afro, so as to appeal to different audiences. For his debut single, he has chosen to go with house, a genre that is quickly gaining popularity in the country.

The video has been produced by one of Kenya’s celebrated video production talents, J Blessing.

The Samsung Ziki Star is a music platform by Samsung Electronics East Africa that is aimed at discovering raw singing talent and ultimately crowns a winner, helping them make a mark in the music industry through the production of a single & music video, as well as mentorship from well-known musicians.

This Is The Video That Had Kenyans Trolling Churchill’s Mc Jesse

I have to admit Last Sunday’s episode of Churchill Show is without an iota of doubt one of the best episodes of Churchill Show that I have ever watched.

It was really entertaining and the jokes and skit were actually funny. And not that kind of funny where you are compelled to laugh because everyone is laughing,no it was just straight up hilarious.

However, Mc Jesse and the beautiful Chidinma really stole the show.

Words From The Intelligent: Caroline Mutoko Explains Why The Kenyan Entertainment Scene Will Never Flourish

Today morning, Caroline Mutoko, Linda Nyangweso and Chipukeezy were having a rather insightful conversation that explained why Kenya’s entertainment industry has been unable to grow and prosper. No, the 5-7 truly financially successful artists do not a successful entertainment represent. Think about it. Really stew on it for a minute.

Caroline Mutoko actually hit the nail on the head when she said that the problem with Kenyans is the “scarcity mentality”. The whole thought process that dictates that you pour bucketloads of hate on a celebrity actor or entertainer simply because you’re scared that by praising them for their talent you will diminish the levels of praise and applause for yourself if you ever get to their level.

At this point, allow me to share this gem of wisdom, “Depression is anger at self pointed inwards, hate is anger at self pointed outwards”. Come to think of it, this explains why whenever a Kenyan does something outstanding, you can always count on Kenyans to tear him or her down.

It really doesn’t make any sense why we treat politicians like prophets yet they are often all nothing but harbingers of doom and gloom! And when we have say Bahati, a humble talented lad climb out of poverty thanks to his art, we want to tear him down. This nonsense makes no sense!

Think about it, the more praise we heap on Kenyan artists, the greater the heights our entertainment industry can ascend to. And that just means that there will be even more for everyone. Build rather than tear down. You think not? Just ask the closest Nigerian to your girlfriend! Na wettin  omoNaija dey do for am grow e Naija pop for sef!

“Trapped” a Hilarious Adults Only Comedy Airing Soon

Trapped is a hilarious audience-pleasing fast-paced comedy. Its physical over-the-top makes our last show Dangerous Affairs seem like a prayer meeting by comparison.

The comedy is starring Kenya’s superstars directed by Derrick Amunga and Mbeki Mwalimu. The setting of Trapped is a medical hospital. A doctor (Nick Ndeda) is practicing the lecture he will deliver to an assembly of fellow gynecologists in less than an hour. The speech’s success is vital to his career. Interruptions abound.

First it’s various other medical staff rehearsing for a performance (i.e. the cheeky Nigerian doctor played by Maina Olwenya; tough talking matron played by Veronica Waceke; a pregnant intern doctor played by Lulu Wilson and the new doctor played by Henry Gitau Ngogoyo). Then a long-ago ex (Wangari Gioche), who was once a nurse at the hospital, brings the news that she gave birth 16 years earlier to the doctor’s daughter (Janet Kirina) and the daughter is in the hospital in search of Dad! Yes, there is his harsh wife (Rosemary Waweru), and she knows nothing of the past liaison!

And in the spiraling chaos of deceit, false identity and manic cover-up that ensues, the mission is to avoid the daughter, pacify the ex, keep the chief specialist and hospital deputy director (Derrick Amunga) at bay and fend off various distractions, among them a patient from deep in the village excited by the goings-on (Johnson Chege) and an inquisitive police officer.

STRICTLY ADULTS ONLY

STUDY: Kenyans consider Rolex, Sauti Sol, Beyoncé and Arsenal F.C. to be Best Quality

If an average Kenyan had an unlimited amount of money at their disposal and made decisions based exclusively on quality when buying, he would wear a Rolex, listen to Sauti Sol or Beyoncé and would most like to watch a football match with Arsenal F.C.

These are the results of the first Kenyan QUDAL – QUality meDAL – DEEPMA Research conducted in June this year by the Swiss organization ICERTIAS – International Certification Association GmbH with its headquarters in Zurich by means of an online survey on a sample of 1,200 citizens of Kenya, internet users 15 years and older.

The entire QUDAL Research in Kenya encompassed more than sixty commercial and non-commercial categories (e.g. best quality milk, best quality car, best quality domestic singer etc.). The first results of this complex research have now been processed and are available for analysis.

Sauti_Sol_TZ.jpg

Each QUDAL –QUality meDAL accolade is the consumer’s voice, and the intent is to create a culture in which manufacturers and service providers will strive to provide maximum quality, with consumers demanding only the best.

Maina And King’ang’i In The Morning: Fat, Shameless Women And Why Their Husbands Leave Them

Boy meets girl, boy woos girl, boy marries girl and then comes a baby in a golden carriage or so the narrative goes. But then the plan goes horribly wrong sometimes. Boy meets girl, boy woos girl, boy marries girl… Girl becomes fat. Girl lets go of herself and becomes a potato.
This one fact is the reason I am scared of marriage. I refuse to settle for mediocrity.

But what is a man supposed to do when his lady love becomes 3 ladies in one body? That is what Maina and King’ang’i are discussing today morning. The topic of discussion came about after a brave, daring blogger by the name of Njoki Chege spoke the truth about weight issues and how they affect marriages.

Women were livid. Some men, were also up in arms -afterall, when we stop focusing on shapeless wives, we will begin to focus on their fat, shapeless husbands. But away from that, allow me to explain something to all the fat wives reading this and cursing the day I was born:- men are visual creatures. A fat woman will nary excite a man. Especially after he met you when you were a lithe, light, nimble, nubile seductress who won his heart.

This is what the conversation on Maina and King’ang’i is like:

You Will Never Believe How Sexy Pendo Looks These Days! And Has Her Butt Grown Bigger? (PHOTO GALLERY)

Pendo is a name that has rung for a long while in Kenya’s entertainment industry and with good reason. She has been involved in alot of controversial circumstances going as far as to claim that she had coitus with Africa’s biggest star of the day -Davido. Then she disappeared.

She resurfaced on K24 looking lovely and she was also at Blankets and Wines and I must say that while I am unaccustomed to seeing her with her clothes on, she looks really ravishing with all her gear on. Check her out below:

Just What Went On Between Chess Nthusi And Rabbit? Were They Dating Or Was It A One Night Stand? Find Out The Truth Here!

Chess Nthusi is one of the many beautiful lasses in Kenya’s entertainment industry. And a while back, aye, even before she was the host on Tujuane for the eternity of one half season, she was Rabbit’s protege. Aye, Rabbit was mentoring the lass. And perhaps that is what gave birth to these rumours. Rumours that were whispered loudly within entertainment circles.

I cornered the pretty little thing and asked her about the rumours. I was half expecting her to shirk and run round the issue but she was surprisingly direct and succinct. She seemed to have been asked this question plenty of times before. She wasn’t angry about the question. she answered it graciously and she talked about her relationship with Rabbit -the type of relationship that is. And you can watch her talk about it below:

Kenyan Woman Receives Acclamation in Leading American Magazine for Her Tremendous Weight Loss Accomplishment

A Kenyan woman living in California who has set a goal to lose weight has been highlighted in a US magazine following tremendous steps in her weight loss journey.

Hannah Ngae at one point weighed 199lbs (about 90kg) at only 5’2″ inches. She set out on a journey to better eating, taking better care of herself and exercising more which in one year has rewarded her with a net weight loss of 56 lbs (25kg)

Here is her story in the Black weight Loss Success magazine dubbed the official blog of black women. The magazine featured her story in the section:

“Weight Loss Story of the Day”

Weight Loss Story of the Day: Hannah lost 56 pounds.  This proud and petite single mom tried many methods to lose weight and had an unfortunate experience trying on clothes that was the last straw, opening the door for her to start her weight loss journey.  Here is what she shared with us:

Hello My name is Hannah Ngae (aka Noni). I was born in Kenya. I moved to this country when I was a little girl at 16 yrs old. Now, I’m a proud single mom of a two year old boy named Jordan.  A year ago, I weighed 199 lbs at only 5’2″ feet tall.  Today, I weigh 143 lbs. I have lost 56 pounds. Before, I was depressed and stressed out. I tried all sorts of diets and pills but nothing seemed to work. In May of 2013, that’s when my life changed. I went to the store and tried on like 10 dresses and pants but nothing seemed to fit. I looked at myself in the changing room mirror and decided enough is enough. I won’t lie to you, I shed tears. I decided to give up everything and get committed with one goal. I always put God first in everything I do. I prayed and asked God to guide and walk with me during the start of my weight loss journey. May 1, 2013 I gave up sugar and white carbs. I started drinking lots of water and green smoothies. I started noticing a changes as my skin became smooth and soft. My stomach started disappearing as well. I was so excited because my friends started noticing my progress too. In that first month, I lost 8 pounds. I continued till I joined a gym on Nov 5th.

10549841_1426429790978971_474285157_n.jpg

Magic started happening. I met a good friend who we became close. She trained me. We could spend hours at the gym. I did cardio mostly which made me shed all the weight. Elliptical is my best friend. It has flattened my tummy toned my bum and thighs.
I have left fast foods alone and I now make my own healthy meals. I always measure and weigh my foods regardless. I don’t do processed foods or fruits, I would rather spend millions buying fresh foods. I don’t eat rice now. I use quinoa instead, which I love. I take 5 meals a day, under 1200 calories total. I workout 7 or 6 days a week and sometimes go in at 4 am.  I do cardio for 30 minutes, stretch 15 minutes, lift weights and do another 15 minute of Cardio.

My Transformation has taken 1 year, and I’m not done yet. I’m just getting started. I have set a goal to lose 15 more pounds before August 15. Losing weight has becoming Addicting to me and I’m so proud of how far I have come being that I’m a mom, student and also an employee.

Your health is one of the most important things in your life, and you really need to make time for it. I was too busy with things that ultimately didn’t matter to take care of myself, and I ended up being Obese. To change your weight you need to change many aspects of your life so that you can lean more towards healthy living. A big part of that is emotional well being and motivation. Recognize when you are eating out of habit not hunger. Learn to tell the difference between feelings satisfied and feeling stuffed. Get support from a partner or friend.  I advise everyone to focus on what you want your life to look like not just your body. Never Give Up! It’s the easiest thing to do and then it becomes hard to regain the strength to lose all the weight over again.

Another Parody Video for Sauti Sol’s “Nishike” Comes Out

Is there anything better than a parody video? The answer is no. It is yet another great year for parodies, and there are a couple of favourite parodies we’ve chosen for your enjoyment.

With that said, these days, a song’s journey isn’t over the day it hits the top of the charts. No, in our Internet-addicted times, a piece of popular culture hasn’t truly made its mark until it’s been the subject of a couple of parody videos or ordinary people riding its coattails for a brief shot at viral fame, truth be told.

Anyway, Sauti Sol’s “Nishike” is still fresh in our minds and it’s not going anywhere soon. After seeing previous spoofs of the video, yet another parody has come out and it’s delightfully affectionate.

One Wizly Wizboy had an idea to give the song a little twist, the The Penguins of Madagascar twist.

Venomous Response to Daring Female Blogger who viciously lashed out at Ladies for being the Main Reason why their Men Cheat

On Monday, journalist, Daily Nation columnist and blogger, Njoki Chege, stirred up a hornet’s nest with her blog post that directly hit out at ladies for being the reason why their men cheat, one of which was being fat.

Well, as expected, the article achieved super virality on social media and it was only long before a ‘befitting’ response was coming.

Here’s that response by Wanjiku Wanderi;

An open letter to the ignorant self-described ‘city girl’

Dear Njoki Chege,

First off, I am not your Fan. I am just another internet savvy user who has the absolute displeasure of stumbling upon articles you have written, quickly skimming through them and moving on to more entertaining, informative and educative feature pieces. However, it cannot escape me that you are now writing for one of Kenya National Newspapers. Good for you. That is a quiet a fete. What perturbs me though is the fact that you have taken your own issues and misplaced (negative) outlook of life, and are now using the right channels to drum the wrong gospel to a very impressionable audience. Someone has impressed these notions on you and you’ve now taken it upon yourself to judge and condemn people, and journeys that you know nothing about. How naïve! Yours is a pavement and biased judgment. I see you as a bully with no empathy or compassion for putting other’s down. It is all about the stats and maybe the paycheck for you, at whatever cost. I get you. It is a jungle out here. You have put your opinions of marriage, women, cheating spouses, SAHM out there for us to read, ponder and react. I respect that. So sit tight as I a mother, wife, journalist and feminist rubbish your words and perhaps teach you one or two lessons on marriage, respect, common courtesy and growing up.

You see it is very easy to laugh, condemn and be utterly sarcastic to others when you have little basis of what their life story is all about. It is easy to sit behind a computer and punch in words of a life that you have not lived either based on experiences you have overheard in a bar or whatever social circles you roam. It takes a conscious mind to do some meaningful research and turn them into a well-meaning article that will be read by people from all walks of life. You are young, unmarried and ‘free’. You are the Zebra teaching the Lion how to hunt. Your words are shaped by your own worldview and experiences. The undertones of your rhetoric come across as bitter, subjective, delusion and so out-of-touch that one can only mutter to themselves, ‘oh the folly of the sassy, sarcastic, insulting young city woman whose journey has just begun!” Such irony.

City Girl

I don’t know much about the upbringing of a city girl seeing that I grew up in the countryside. From your articles, though, this city girl sounds like all talk no action. She is speaking on behalf of the philandering man and justifying his wayward life. Back in the village, men in bars used to talk about the latest ‘kahawa or chai bonuses’, their wives, acquired land and mostly local politics, down to the local chief issues. Interestingly, the city men look like they sit in bars and open up to the ‘independent’ lady sipping on her expensive cocktail bought with her own hard-earned money, about their marital problems.

Talk of a writer’s goldmine. From here you gather your data and use it to point fingers at women and blame them for their husband’s clandestine affairs. Men must love you – to them you are better than a priest or their male friends. You understand their problems; one because you are a single woman, and you are also in a position to write and give their wives a solution to the unspoken marital woes. You must be the most sought after male companion. I picture all these men hovering around you, pouring out their marriage problems, describing in detail why they slept with the secretary or the ‘pretty young thing’, and you the ever listening journalist nodding your head in empathy as you take mental and actual notes. At the end you promise them a solution. A way out. You are going to write their story and reach out to wives with the sole message that they are to blame if the man cheats.

The men retreat to their seats, order another drink for themselves and an expensive cocktail for you (which you decline because you don’t mix work with pleasure…and of course you are an independent woman), they thank you heartily and express their full support for your endeavors. They are absolved off their sins and you have bagged your next story. Perfect win!

You call women fat

Now that is just rude. Someone didn’t teach you manners. There is a difference between being forward and being curt. Rude people are more disliked than ‘fat’ ones. These plus-size ladies have their own stories to tell, which if you did some research, you would discover that theirs is either genetic or a constant weigh loss challenge. However, you are a lazy writer only keen to tell one side of the story. And bullies like to call others fat to validate their own body image issues. Bullies also like to get attention and they will use whatever means and ways necessary to pass their message across. Sadly, you are using the national newspaper to serve this purpose.

Whatever issues you have with plus-size ladies does not give you any right to pen it down and blame them for their men’s philandering ways. A cheating man will dip his penis in anything outside his marriage, whether he is married to Miss Universe or the local ‘Mama Mboga’. A Faithful man on the other hand, will stand by his wife through ‘thick and thin’ because he knows her journey and he appreciates that the body you called ‘ugly, unsightly and unheavenly’ is the one that carried and nurtured his children. He will lift those ‘flabs and folds’ and love her like no other man can. And yes, such men do exist, but you won’t find them at your local bar.

See Njoki, I was once very petite with what I called perfectly placed breasts. Then I got pregnant, had hyperemesis gravidarum (a pregnancy condition that Kate Middleton had too), lost 25 per cent of my body weight. After baby came. I ate, to sustain myself and my ever hungry son. I followed my doctor’s advice on not too worry so much about the kilos packing up, and I was ok with that as long as my child was healthy and fed. I drunk up the fermented uji that my mother served. Actually, I had a 1.5 liter thermos next to my bed for midnight snacking, because in our culture such feeding from those looking after a new mother is an expression of love. And boy, did I gladly accept that unconditional love. Naturally the kilos went up. My baby belly took its time to return to the pre-baby shape, my breasts drooped. I acquired stretchmarks from the expanded and retracted belly, which your ignorant-self describes as marks resulting from eating like a ‘pig’. This was, and still is, my 4th trimester body. It is a testament to a journey that I have a taken. The priceless journey to motherhood.

But you know what, your loathing words only reflect the kind of person you are inside. These women you call fat have come to love their bodies. I see some of them every day working so damn hard to lose weight so that they can fit a certain social perception of what is beautiful. The kind that you negate as fat and ugly. I am proud of the mother’s out there who look themselves in the mirror see past their sizes and bring out what you scoff off as ‘inner beauty’. These women have learned that character is more endearing than their dress size. They do not have to allow discriminating and excluding people like you to stand between them and their happiness.

Njoki, I assume that you are yet to have children, if you ever want them, but here is something you and women and men of your kind should know. Do not laugh at and mock fellow women unless you have an idea of what their life story is about. Do not go about assuming that your shallow worldview fits into everyone‘s outlook of life. Do not throw rocks when you live in a glass house. Everybody is entitled to self-respect.

Maina Kageni Is A True Socialite,Popular Rapper Says

Wikipedia defines a socialite as ’ someone who is well-known in fashionable society and spends a significant amount of time participating in social activities such as parties and other fashionable events, entertaining guests and being entertained by others of similar standing’

Traditionally, socialites are people like Ivanka Trump and Paris Hilton who were born with a silver spoon in their mouth but modern age socialites do not necessarily come from a rich background. They have to start from scratch and build their way up.Climbing up the social ladder one twerk/sex-tape/nudes at a time.

In the U.S.A, Kim Kardashian rules the roost of modern age socialites while in Kenya; Vera Sidika is considered Kenya’s own Kim K.Other popular Kenyan socialites include Huddah, Risper, Corazon and Pendo.

Popular rapper Xtatic was recently in our offices where she got to talk about Kenyan socialites and who are the true socialites in Kenya.

Wow, some people really do know how to stir up controversy. A blogger by the name Njoki Chege has been on the line of fire for blaming men’s cheating on women’s fat, laziness and lack of style.

Here is an excerpt from the article which you can read here:

“I like to call a spade a spade, so when I see a fat girl, I will call her fat and not sugarcoat the truth (pun intended). Most married women I know are fat. Children or no children, you have lost your physical attractiveness and you have been reduced to a blob. Rolls upon rolls of fat and flesh jiggling around the city like nobody’s business. I look at some married women and I pity their husbands, asking myself “How do you get turned on by that?” or ‘How do you wash all that?”

I found her article distasteful and inane, because if a man is a cheater he will still cheat, even if you are as limber as a stripper, look like Halle Berry, a figure like Corazon Kwamboka, take good care of your children and enjoy a successful career. And I also think it’s a bit wrong to portray men as shallow beings whose only interest in you is looks.

Anyhow, that’s my opinion, here are some of the thoughts on this article

Agatha Erin said:

Njoki Chege my dear, I find your reasons as to why men cheat too shallow! So shallow I’d be embarrassed to put down my name as the author of the same. Fat, lazy and boring…Pray, tell me why does Jay-Z cheat on Beyonce? I bet she’s lazy fat and boring! Why oh why did Eric Bennett cheat on Halle Berry? Oh, she’s fat lazy and boring…!!
I rest my case.

Angie said: Are you married? if not, then keep your stinking shit hole of a mouth closed….

Shiru said:

Why do we keep giving excuses as to why men cheat? if she is fat, tell her to do something about it and drag her to the gym if you must, if she doesn’t dress well, tell her and buy her nice clothes and advise her on the hair styles you like on her, if she is boring, suggest fun things which you can do together. It is the responsibility of both husband and wife to keep a marriage and there is no excuse for cheating. People cheat because they choose to, period…if shes so bad, divorce her and marry ‘Sheila’. But cheating, there is no excuse…none whatsoever Njoki Chege

Next time, please write an article on why women cheat.

Maureen said:

Unbelievably distasteful and out of touch with reality. The article comes off as shallow and a pathetic attempt at sucking up to men. I’m all for looking after yourself as a woman but your reasons are off, a woman should take care of her looks for own benefit not to try get validation from a man who’s probably the cause of all her changed looks. Get a grip on reality ma’am. Men cheat. Period.

Annie said:

Wow, the amount of female bashing in this article is appalling. As a writer, shouldn’t you strive to do your research before spewing your negativity on the internet for all to see? Njoki Chege, you should be ashamed of yourself. This is some bullshit right here. Pardon my French.

Lemar said:

Wow! pretty shallow girl you are Njoki. How can you reduce women to objects who have to look, dress and act in a certain way for her husband not to cheat? How dare you reduce men to shallow uncontrollable animals who will jump at the next attractive thing because a wife looks a certain way? It is women like you that perpetuate and allow patriarchy thrive. Narratives like these excuse irrationality, bad behavior. I see you on facebook, justifying this as truth. I laugh at your pseudo intellectualism. If only you knew that there are no absolute truths. But if only you knew that only superior line of thoughts are worthy to be penned. As a fellow commentator said, I will blame it on your lack of experience. Trust me, beauty is no achievement. It is just something you are born with. And because I know you speak to young children, I am afraid for the future if this is the sort of thing you campaign about. Telling young girls that they are only as good as they look in their homes. They are nothing without their brains and their hearts and the essence of their being if they are not beautiful, if they do not meet the stands of beauty of the moment, is simply put pathetic. Somebody has got to stop you. You should never even call your stuff writing. Let’s calling it tying.
