Julius Masaai, was crowned the Comedian of the week in the ongoing Kenya Kona Comedy Night Special series held at the Choices Lounge on Monday Night.
He now joins Mc Bones and Moch Mpienga in the line up set to battle it out for The Comedian of the Month title scheduled to be held later on in August.
Julius held off stiff competition from Comedian Matayo, the self proclaimed president of the Short People’s United and Jonnie Boy, who came in second and third respectively. Julius Masaai also walked away with the Ksh. 5,000 cash prize.

In what appears to be sabotage on the part of the management, employees at Ebru TV, the fast rising TV station that former Citizen TV screen siren, Michelle Morgan, joined.
According to a reporter who sought anonymity in fear of reprisal due to the sensitivity of the matter, the management today issued a notice ordering all employees to open bank accounts with Gulf Bank as soon as possible to allegedly cut costs on salary processing.
The aggrieved staff member says there’s a disquiet in the newsroom but no one is ready to step forward to voice their concerns as the memo came as an order and their fear is that they may face ‘consequences’ if they question the management’s directive.
One of the employees wondered out aloud, “Why am I supposed to change banks just because I work here? In the past they have used our particular different bank accounts to process our salaries, I don’t see why the sudden change.”
We tried to reach the Everest Production Corporation, the mother company of Ebru TV, management for a comment over this matter but our phone calls went unanswered.

In an exclusive interview with CNN, Nelson Mandela’s daughter Maki has talked about her father’s suffering in the final months of his life.
Speaking to CNN’s Robyn Curnow – the only international journalist to broadcast live from Nelson Mandela’s funeral – Maki asserted that while his medical team treated him with dignity and respect, his death came as a relief after the agonising struggle his health had faced.
“There were times I was telling the doctors I think enough is enough,” she said. “As doctors they had their duty to try everything up to the last moment, but for me as a daughter it was excruciating watching that.”
Maki also talked about plans for the family to open Mandela’s grave to visitors in a year or so, with plans in place for a visitors’ center and memorial garden, where tourists will be able to walk around the grave and see it from a viewing point.

Jeff Koinange is a multi-award winning journalist who has covered Africa for more than two decades. YOLO swaggers might not know this, but Jeff was one of the first anchors at KTN when it was lauched.
Back in 1992 when a significant number of TV sets in Kenya showed in black and white and guys had to wait till 5AM to watch TV (KBC), Kenya Television Network (KTN) came into being.
It was the country’s first independent TV channel and Jeff Koinange, having had a working stint at American Broadcast Stations, was hired as one of the first anchors at the new TV station. He joined KTN in 1995 as a part time news anchor as he was already working as a Reuters correspondent based in Nairobi at the time.

According to very reliable and high-level sources at the leading TV station, at least three officers have been lined up for promotion to the level of senior management.
Among them is the meticulous Group Editorial Director, Faridah Karoney, who has been promoted to the position of Chief Operating Officer, a newly created role.
In her new role, she will provide leadership in the following functions and departments;

Most recently there has been an influx and insane popularity of weaves among women. In fact, in rough estimates, every 7 in 10 women you meet in urban areas are rocking fake hair extensions or weaves.
And now, one celeb, not just any other celeb but former Miss Kenya, Rachel Marete has been on adrive to promote natural hair day every day. In fact, the beauty queen, TV host and singer has been without her weave for months now and she’s declares she’s done with them.
“I rock my natural hair,” declares Rachel. She adds, “I’m #TeamNoWeaves and now part of the natural hair movement.”
“Why should we pay so much money for other people’s DNA on our heads?” she poses.
Rachel who seems to have gotten rid of the weaves for good further says;
“Seriously, our hair is beautiful and I think we forgot or someone lied to us that it’s not hot. I have no relaxer and I’ve been having fun experimenting with different styles and showing people on social media that our hair is beautiful too.”

So my uncle Tim got married a couple weeks ago to his long time girlfriend Sarah.
It was a lovely occasion, which was hosted at the Stanley was the first I had witnessed in my nuclear family’s generation. My uncle flew in from Australia and the couple got the first class treatment at Sarova Stanley. Also present was Kenya’s pre-eminent wedding photographer Ben Kiruthi. Ben was all over the event taking pictures of the married couple, family, friends and also the celebrity performers who were there, including Ringtone, Mbuvi and Mr. Ndilima(I know Mr. Kiruthi doesn’t like to be called a paparazzi so ntamwachia tu 🙂

Jesse Muli a.k.a XANDER PAINE is a Kenya Artist who started his music career in 2013. Working with Super Producer KUS MA, he released his first single ‘Rollin Strollin ‘ and later, released his second single ‘We Own It ‘ that featured KUS MA. Currently, he is in the studio working with several producers on several singles due for release soon. The first of these singles ‘Bend it over ‘ is due for release later this month. XANDER is currently shooting the video that will give his fans a glimpse into what his album will sound like.
