Restless Talent Management, the first global management company to focus on African talent, will be hosting a Creative Pitch Session at this year’s 5th edition of the Durban FilmMart (DFM), a Durban International Film Festival (DIFF) and the Durban Film Office (DFO) developmental initiative for African filmmakers which is funded by the City of Durban.
Organized in partnership with the festival and with leading African broadcast distributor, Côte Ouest, “The Creative Pitch” will take place on Monday July 21st at 2pm at the Southern Sun Elangeni hotel, the new location of both the DFM and DIFF.
Candidates will be randomly selected among the filmmakers willing to pitch, and each will have 3 minutes to present their best idea for a feature film or TV show in front of a panel of experts that will include Restless Talent Management’s Tendeka Matatu and Marie Lora-Mungai, National Film and Video Foundation’s Production and Development Manager Thandeka Zwana, Associate Director of the internationally renowned Sundance Documentary Film Programme Rahdi Taylor, well known South African director Khalo Matabane, South African leading actor Tony Kgoroke, Mnet Acquisition’s Mbalenhle Ntuli, and Côte Ouest’s Michelle Wheatley.
The filmmaker with the most promising, interesting and ultimately best idea put forward will win a one-year representation deal for his or her project by Restless Talent Management. “We’ll be looking for the most original, compelling ideas for film or television. It could be a gripping story, intriguing characters, or a fresh point of view…we want to be surprised, challenged and entertained!” say Tendeka Matatu and Marie Lora-Mungai.
“The Restless Talent Management Creative Pitch session is an example of the types of lucrative opportunities filmmakers can obtain for their ideas in film or television. We are excited to see what this year’s filmmakers will propose and see their ideas eventually turn into something tangible,” say Durban Film Office’s Toni Monty.
