After Njoki Chege unleashed her tantrums at owners of blue Subarus, another Daily Nation writer has come out to inflict more pain.

The blue Subaru pantomime isn’t ending any time soon; Njoki Chege started it then Betty Kyallo, a Subaru die-hard fan and a proud owner of one, hit back hard. Words have been flying all over ever since Njoki ignited this Subaru war.

Just when the dust was beginning to settle down on Subaru, another Daily Nation’s writer, Barasa JM opened up a new page on Subarus.

Barasa JM is a motorist enthusiast and he believes that he is the only person allowed to poke fun at Subaru owners. In his article, Baraza says his criticism of Sabarus was based on an expert point of view rather than emotions which others used to base their arguments.

Baraza’s word will surely rub Betty the wrong way; the way he carefully chose his words when belittling Saburus is enough to make Subaru owners to swallow their pride and buy Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution.

The last 15 hours have been a little crazy on Twitter, this is because The Star Newspaper website was hacked and Mohammed Ali was implicated as a jihadist and a jihadist recruiter.

But Kenyans are not buying into the propaganda a demonstrated in various tweets. Check them out:

Incase You Missed It :Hackers Hack into the Star Newspaper Website, Accuse Mohammed Ali Of Being A Jihadist

Even as the squabbles between three powerful media houses and the Communication Authority of Kenya (CAK) continue, there is one story that remains untold to date, and it seems many of us do not want to speak about it. And this perhaps remains the greatest untold story.

The relationship between the mainstream media and majority of the keyboard judges is sour to say the least. This is evident from what has been going on in the social media lately.

The hatred got rekindled by the decision by The CAK to withdraw the license awarded to RMS, NMG and SMG to air digital content following a sponsored and aired content that warned consumers against buying GOTv and Startimes decorders to view their content.

The three media houses moved quickly to air their displeasure at the move which they feel is aimed at nipping them, and allowing foreign companies to run digital broadcasting in the country.

On their social media platforms, Citizen TV, KTN and NTV posted their displeasure, arguing their case out and promising to go to court to stop the move by CAK.

When such information is put on the social media, its sole purpose is to inform their viewers what is going on.

However, the responses that these posts got are a clear indication that there is cold blood between Kenyans and the mainstream media.

For instance, Citizen TV posted an editorial statement concerning the move by CAK, explaining to its viewers what happened and the steps they are planning to take. This is what they posted on their Facebook page:

The responses that Kenyans gave are a clear indication that there is hostility running deep down their minds. Here is a sample of them:

In fact the three media houses should be taken off air.For the ten years they have dominated the airwaves, THEY HAVE HAD UTTERLY NOTHING positive about this nation to report.The only thing they have is what a failure Kenya is. They have no interests of this nation at heart. These three entities are so unscrupulous they could actually sell this nation to its worst enemy.They are but business of opportunists who have nothing to care but their profits.All they sell is tribal and cheap political propaganda for the highest bidder.While CNN reports everything in terms of “THE INTERESTS OF THE UNITED STATES””, the three media houses that Kibaki Government created in the last ten years have nothing positive to wish this nation.All they care about is sales. These main stations have been reluctant to migrate to digital from the word go. Why? They were controlling about 70% of the market share, hence advertising revenue. Before, it was very difficult to do broadcasting due to the capital intensive infrastructure, which acts as a barrier to entry. Now, all you need is quality content and pay for its transmission by the carriers. No wonder since digital migration, the number of Tv stations have more than trippled. The onset of the internet created jobs made it possible for people to get information from virtually everywhere and communication became much easier and cheaper.

But with all its advantages, there were disadvantages like people starting an online smear campaign, leaking your secrets and nudes to the public and hackers.

Last year a number of politicians and government institutions were targeted by hackers and what resulted was total mayhem after the hackers made a fool out of the said officials.

The hackers then moved to websites, bringing down a few entertainment websites for publishing photos that they felt further victimized the victims of sexual assault.

Yesterday, hackers hacked into the Star Newspaper Website, posting this damning message that implicated Mohammed Ali as an extremist. Calling him a lone Mujahideen which means jihadist.

The text is a bit illegible on mobile so i will transcribe:

Every time we watch films or videos which feature actors and actress engaging in what looks like sexual intercourse, we often wonder what goes in their mind when they are doing it, on camera.

However, actress and Homeboyz radio presenter Patricia Kihoro has come out to explain what they normally do and what goes in their minds when they are acting these controversial scenes.

Speaking to Ghafla, Patricia gave an example of herself when she acted in a Sauti Sol video with a married man.

She says normally when acting such scenes, she does not mind what the world will think about it and that all her mind and thoughts are in the act.

She also revealed that:

The incident at Langata Primary School caught the attention of the whole world as people were utterly shocked to see children bringing down a perimeter wall.

Push children too far and they will stun you with what they are capable of doing. Early this week, pupils at Langata Primary School demonstrated against the grabbing of their playing field.

The demonstration made a footnote in the history of Kenya and the world at large not only because the police tear-gassed children, but also by the daring action of children to bring down a stone wall.

Even more astonishing, the children had their own “leader” who coordinated their audacious action. The “leader” had a loudspeaker that he used to marshal his troops.

The Communication Authority of Kenya (CAK) made one of the most hostile moves yesterday where it withdrew the license awarded to three major media houses to shift to digital broadcasting.

The move came after the three TV stations ran an advertisement that warned consumers from buying GOTv and Startimes decorders, saying that they were infringing on copyright by airing their content without permission.

And as a way of standing with the three media houses, Classic 105’s Maina Kageni has bashed the CAK for its biasness and desire to shut down the four TV stations.

Speaking during his morning show, Maina and King’ang’I, on Classic 105, the flamboyant presenter advised that the CAK allow Royal Media Services, Nation Media Group and Standard Group Limited to purchase their own digital boxes, just like the other two foreign companies.

The three media houses have said they are moving to court to compel the CAK to rescind the decision which aims at curtailing media freedom and freedom to information by Kenyans.

Actually it seems to be a “Ninja-zone”  According to Wikipaedia a Ninja is… “A  covert agent or mercenary in feudal Japan. The functions of the ninja included espionage, sabotage, infiltration, and assassination, and open combat in certain situations…”

Nairobi Senator, Mike Sonko has come out to clear the air after rumors started circulating round he was being admitted in a mental institution.

Forget all the hullabaloos caused by false information regarding Sonko’s whereabouts, the truth straight from the horse’s mouth has finally arrived. Soinko himself has come out to affirm he wasn’t locked up in a mental facility.

“As you can see am very happy, am very healthy and let me tell you my enemies that those allegations will not stop me from delivering service to the great people of Nairobi who voted for me overwhelmingly. I can just treat them as mere rumors” Sonko told reporters as he watered down the grapevine circulating about his whereabouts.

The business of being a socialite is as tricky as hawking eggs, One moment you are the darling of a pack of wild men with a testosterone overdrive and the next minute, you have been reduced to a shadow of your former self. Such are the tribulations that befell Socialite Risper Faith.  

 It all started when photos of her in her dark birthday suit leaked to the cyberspace causing a controversy as it had been reported earlier that the socialite had decided to live for God and forego the pleasures of the world. Soon after she came clean and confessed that she indeed had the photos on her phone but hadn’t leaked them herself, her phone was stolen a while back and the “Thief” leaked them when she refused to pay an agreed amount., blah blah blah. 

Now on January 13 Risper Posted this photo on her social media.. 

Even after giving her soul to God, the socialite has been lured back into the life and the Joys of socialite hood and is now hosting parties at a Ozone Lounge, the parties go by the name “Wet and Wild” Yeah Wet and Wild. 

When I was growing up, I was taught to abhor the village, it was not really a good place to grow up in, seeing that it was detached from the rest of the developing world. A number of people know Robert Burale as a motivational speaker, pastor, actor and a PR and marketing strategist. Most of us know him as an image consultant who forms part of Lillian Muli’s fashion panel ‘Fashion Watch’ on Citizen TV.

Some people take their relationships EXTREMELY  seriously, so trespassing into their territory is bound to get you in trouble.

Even something as simple as double tapping their photo on Instagram can set off the insecurity alarms.
Eric Omondi found himself in a rather precarious position after he’ liked’ someone’s girlfriends photo of Instagram .

And the man was not too happy about it so he sent Eric a message to show how Eric’s actions had displease him. Eric shared the said text alongside this caption “Just received this from a Tanzanian Number…Wolololo kwisha mimi.”

The three powerful media houses in the country: RMS, NG and SG face the wrath of the Communication Authority of Kenya after being accused of airing illegal advertisements that aim at bringing out negative competition.

The three media houses have been warning consumers against purchasing GOTv and Startimes decorders which air their content ‘illegally’.

This has angered the CAK, prompting it to release this very disturbing statement:

21ST JANUARY 2015
It has come to the attention of the Authority that three media houses, namely Nation Media Group Limited, Standard Group Limited and Royal Media Group Limited have jointly been running a misleading advertisement on Television and Radio since Friday 16th January 2015. The said advertisement purports that Startimes and GOtv are illegally carrying their content thereby infringing on copyright and neighbouring rights. The advertisement goes farther to instruct consumers not to purchase Startimes and GOtv pay-tv set-top boxes to watch CITIZEN Television, NTV, KTN and QTV. In addition, the advertisement allege that the three media houses are the exclusive vendors of Free-To-Air set-top-boxes that can enable the public to view their channels
The Authority is gravely concerned by the misleading content in the advertisement and wishes to advise the industry and the general public as follows:
1. The advertisement by the three media houses is misleading to the public, is offensive to the market. It is equally in gross violation of the legal and regulatory framework governing the sector;
2. The tone of the advertisement, its content and timing is intended to cause confusion and disrupt the digital migration programme;
3. The digital migration framework allows for the distribution of the ‘Free-to-Air’ signals on the digital platform under the “must-carry principle” . This was supported by the ruling of the Supreme Court of Kenya in September 2014 . It allowed for the availability of Free-to-Air channels to the public through all set-top-boxes (FTA and Pay TV). The advertisement dissuading consumers from purchasing set-top-boxes from other suppliers approved by the Authority is therefore misleading to the public and portrays anti-competitive conduct by the three media houses. Consumers need not be constrained to purchase a specific set top box to view the content of the three broadcasters whose content is Free-to Air;
4. The Authority has type-approved more than 65 set top boxes which are available in the market today. GOTV and Startimes set top boxes are duly type-approved by the Authority and are therefore authentic decoders in the local market authorized to carry the Free-to-Air Channels of the three media houses under the auspices of the “Must Carry Principle;
5. The sale of set top boxes in Kenya is a free market. Consumers can purchase type approved set top boxes from any vendor registered by the Authority. The full list of approved set top boxes and registered vendors can be freely accessed on the Authority’s website;
6. The Authority has neither received any application nor granted any type-approval of any set top box model from the three broadcasters, individually or collectively, for sale in Kenya. It is therefore illegal to purport to advertise set-top-boxes that have not been type-approved by the Authority;
7. The Authority has also received a formal complaint from Gotv and Startimes that the three media houses have refused to Air their digital-migration related advertisements which is potentially an anti-competitive conduct prohibited by law. While this complaint has not been investigated, the Authority notes with concern that it has itself been a victim of such refusal to carry advertisements both in the electronic and print media owned by the three media houses, yet the advertisements are aimed at educating the public on digital migration.
In view of these gross violations by the three media houses as enumerated above, the Authority has decided to take the following administrative actions:
1. Withdraw the temporary authorization granted to the consortium by the three media houses (under the consortium identified as Africa Digital Network). Subsequently the Authority shall reposes the frequency spectrum resources allocated with immediate effect;
2. Decline to continue with the process of issuance of a Network Facilities Provider Tier 2 License for self-provisioning to the three media houses, pursuant to Gazette Notice Number 9088 dated 19th December 2014. This is on account of the above violations of the legal and regulatory framework. The process shall therefore await the ruling and determination of the Competition Authority of Kenya and the Board of the Communications Authority of Kenya on the violations by the three media houses.
3. Liaise with the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) and Kenya Bureau of Standards (KeBS) to bar the importation of set top boxes by the three media houses considering the purported set top boxes are not type-approved by the Authority; and
4. Invite the Competition Authority of Kenya to investigate the cartel-like behavior and anti-competitive conduct and take appropriate regulatory remedies.
We further wish to inform the public that registered vendors have in stock different models of approved Free-to-air and Pay-TV set top boxes that are readily available locally for purchase. More than 1.2 million set top boxes have been purchased since migration in Kenya began. At the moment, the market has more than 1.5 million set top boxes in stock. As we progress into the second phase of the analogue switch-off in the country, consumers are encouraged to purchase set top boxes of their choice ahead of switch-off in order to enjoy digital television.
The withdrawal of the temporary self-provisioning authorization granted to the consortium and the repossession of the the allocated resources does not in any way prejudice the availability of the services of the three broadcasters. The broadcasters are at liberty to avail their content on the digital platform through the existing licensed Broadcast Signal Distributors.
Let me reiterate that the Authority does not condone contraventions of the Act by any of its licencees. The Authority will continue to execute its regulatory mandate with a view to ensure successful migration of Kenyans from the analogue to the digital platforms and ultimately for the growth of the ICT sector in Kenya.

On Monday ICC prosecutor Fatou Bensouda dropped a huge bomb on Kenyans. This was through a 69-page Pre-Trial Brief compiled by the office of Prosecutor that was posted on the internet.

In the brief, many senior officials in the Kibaki regime were named among those involved in the planning of Mungiki attacks. Those in the list included the  Secretary to the Cabinet Francis Kimemia the late Security Minister John Michuki and his wife Watiri.

Others named were MPs such as Juja Mp George Thuo, Mwangi Kiunjiri, Jane Kihara and John Mututho
