Find out Which Former KTN Screen Siren Gifted Her Man with the 2.34M Kempinski Presidential Suite (Photo)

Ladies, who said that Valentine’s Day is all about receiving chocolates, wine and cars?

Sometimes it’s also about giving back to your man as demonstrated by a former KTN screen siren who gifted her beau with the much talked about 2.34 Million Villarosa Kempinski Presidential suite.

Cynthia Nyamai shared a photo of the suite along this caption:

VILLAROSA_NYAMAI.png

So the cats out of the bag!!!! Perfect Valentine’s day gift for my man, @VillaRosaKempin Presidential Suite. #Anightofdiamonds I took up this offer for bae because men go through so much pressure in life, so this year I decided to treat my man and let him know he can sit back cause I got this baby!!!Though I will have to postpone the celebrations because I’m on the campaign trail in Nigeria, but I thank God for the gift of love. And a man who has shown me the true meaning of love just like in the Bible ICor 13:4-8. I thank God for you and I celebrate you everyday!

CABU GAH DIARIES: Celebrities Are Ranked By The Alphabetical Order. From The A List. To The D-List…..Here Are The Kenyan Celebrities Who Belong In The A-List Category.

In the West, celebrities are traditionally ranked from the A-list to the D-list. All of this depends on how bankable they are…Or how washed up they are.

A bankable celebrity is a celebrity whose face and name is ubiquitous; a celebrity who commands huge fees for any appearance, performance or artistic role. An celebrity with immense respect and honor not only amongst their fellow industry mates but also from the general public…A celebrity who lives large, who is always seen and heard and whose lifestyle is not only super enviable but also worth emulating.

The kind of celebrity described above belongs in the A-list category. Which, obviously, as denoted in the alphabetical numerology,is the highest rank in the order.

And such a celebrity is called an A-list Celebrity.

Then there is also a B-list celebrity. And a C-list. And a D-list,too.

A B-list is a celebrity who is a little less famous, who makes a little less money and who commands a little less respect/admiration from the public and showbiz industry.

A C-list celebrity is a real real struggling celebrity. And a D-list,well,it’s a celebrity who is as good as dead. Really.

Famous A-list celebrities include Angelina Jolie,Brad Pitt,Oprah Winfrey,Beyonce,Jay Z,Justin Bieber and Lady Gaga.

B-list celebrities,according to IMDb,include Chris Tucker,Master P,Eddy Murphy,Lindsay Lohan,Lara Flynn Boyle,Monica and Hilary Swank.

C-list celebrities include Ray-J,Riff Raff,Kevin Federline,Rob Kardashian,Nigeria’s Denicia,Tanzania’s Ray- C and akina Bobbi Kristina…..

So,who are Kenya’s A-list celebrities??

Well, follow Me as I try to patch up a list of some of the brightest and most visible, most wealthy, most bankable, most respectable, most gifted and most relevant Kenyan Celebrities…

The A-listers….

1. Maina Kageni….He hosts the one radio show which is arguably the MOST listened to Breakfast show in Nairobi… His voice reaches millions of ardent listeners, he was awarded with a Brand new Chevrolet last year for being a steadfast Manchester United fan, commands huge, huge salary for his radio show, rakes in more millions from separate endorsements and is rumoured to own homes in The USA. Whoa! Quite the A-list celebrity!

2. Churchill….Mwalimu King’ang’i.
His story is almost similar to that of his Classic 105 Breakfast Show co-host Maina Kageni. Besides making millions upon millions per month, from a combined salary that stems from his TV,radio, social media and blogging jobs,Churchill is also one of the MOST respected comics, artists and celebrities in Kenya. And also one of the most visible…..

3. Jaguar
He calls President Uhuru Kenyatta “My Boy….” Well, when is the last time You called the President of the Republic,”Your Boy??” He’s King Jaguar. And don’t get me started on his wealth. Please don’t.

4. Vera Sidika…
I hate to do this. I truly, truly hate to do this….But I had to. Yes,Queen Vee belongs in the list, too. Just like Kim Kardsahian, who hopped from the D-list category in 2006 to the A-list category in 2014,Vera has done quite good for herself….And jumped from a pretty obscure village black rat in 2012 to an A-list superstar in 2014. Glory to the big bum!

5. Lupita Nyong’o….
She should have been on the top of this list, right? Wrong. Why? Because this list is not arranged in any particular order. So I can throw in any celebrity at whichever number I want…they’re still an A-list celeb. But honesty, Lupita is the A-list of them ALL! The A-list of Africa,I dare say!

6. Eric Omondi…
Well,I don’t know how he ended up here…But,looking around, and looking at what he does, who he does it with, who he hangs out with and which brands he endorses,I guess he belongs in the list, too. I guess. But he has to convince all of us. He really has.

7. Sauti Sol…
The whole damn band is an A-list Band. Even Your grandmother knows that….I was going to break the band down, though….And throw some of it’s members to the B-list . Or the C-list. For instance,Polycarp Otieno. Lakini wacha tu.

8. Jalang’o…
Not only one of the most hilarious comics we have,He’s also one of the most bankable Kenyan entertainers who commands very huge salaries for all if his radio,TV,corporate and theatre jobs combined…He cruises around in an earth-shattering Range Rover, too. And is one of the most visible and respectable artists Kenya currently boasts.

9. Jeff Koinange…
Well, isn’t it obvious that he belongs in this list??

10. MacDonald Mariga…
Hws a millionaire. Multimillionaire. He drives around in Lamborghinis and Porsches and Maserattis. He’s a top-ranked football player in Europe. Join the dots.

11. Dennis Oliech.
Refer to Mariga’s story above…..

12. Daddy Owen…
He’s the King of Gospel Music. Period!

13. Nameless….And Wahu
For these two stars, their level of fame is the same. Their period of fame is also the same. Their style of music is the same…their preferred record labels are the same…and their bedcovers are also the same. They also share children. And last names. And because they’re still not irrelevant, they deserve to be here ….As a couple…It’s better that way…

14. Muthoni Drummer Queen…
Yaaaaas, the original boss lady is an A-lister! Very very A-list,I tell You! Her money, talent, prowess, relevancy, exploits and monthly music extravaganzas will attest to that.

15. Size 8….
Hmmmmm……I dunno what to say….Her inclusion in this list, I know,is highly debatable. But still……

16. Redsan .
Of course Yes! Despite his failure to grow and transition into a 21-century musician…Free from the 2004 durags and suits and accents,He’s still got it. Somehow. And he’s also pretty decent, talented, professional, respectable and bankable….But those suits tho…..

17. P-Unit….
Yup,the whole crew belongs here. They’re A-list celebrities. No damn arguments about that. Their international awards, nominations, hit songs, trendsetting ways and street relevance are enough testimony. A bigger shout out to Frasha tho ….

18. STL
I don’t like her. Don’t like her music either…Or hairstyle. Or whatever she ever ever brings to the table. But hey,she sits pretty in the A-list corner. Pretty. Ask Norwegians.

19. Eric Wainaina…
It’s sacrilegious to not include Mr. Mzalendo in this list. Sacrilegious.

20. Larry Madowo
Well,Didn’t we all see this coming?? Of course we did! TV superstar extraordinaire. Hosts Friday Night’s most popular TV show….And his face, voice and smile…absolutely ubiquitous. He’s a bigger household name than a household item. But TV zilizimwa,so get ready to watch him drown from the A-list to the D-list real fast. Haha. I kid.

Well….Well….those are the quick 20 celebrities-or group of celebrities-I could think of….

But No,this list is NOT exhaustive. Not at all…..You can still throw in some more….If You think they fit the bill.

And No,Your local celebrity in your local neighborhood does NOT belong here. Doesn’t matter how many times he has offset Your bills at the local swimming pool. Mafeelings tuwache….

COMING UP NEXT:

LIST OF B-LIST KENYAN CELEBRITIES.

Wait for it….

Erick Omondi Confesses To Ghafla Kenya He Used To Date Jackie Maribe

Last week a photo of Citizen TV reporter Jackie Maribe passionately kissing with the Director of Digital Communication in the Office of the President, Dennis Itumbi, leaked to the internet, raising questions once again if Jackie was dating Dennis.

The TV reporter has been rumoured before to date several high profile person and she is known to be a girl who goes for what she wants and which she feels suits her.

Itumbi denied dating Jackie when he appeared on a local TV station, saying that they were only friends. Yeah, it is only in Kenya where friends can passionately kiss.

It was rumoured that comedian Eric Omondi once dated the TV girl with some going on to say that it was actually Eric who fathered Jackie’s kid.

Ghafla Kenya caught up with Eric in an exclusive interview and sought to know if indeed he dated Jackie and if he is the father to her son.

Eric confessed to have dated Jackie and said they have known each other for quite some time now.

Asked if they are still dating, Eric said:

After He Was Allegedly Caught Pants Down With Someone’s Wife In Mombasa, Hussein Machozi’s Romantic Escapade Caught On Camera Again!(Photo)

Bongo star, Hussein Machozi, is once again hitting headlines for all the bad reasons. The singer was caught on camera with yet another lady.

Mid last year, Hussein Machozi was hit by a mega scandal. The Tanzanian singer was allegedly caught devouring a politician’s wife in a Mombasa Hotel.

It was reported the Tanzanian singer was ruthlessly roughed up when the said politician walked in on them (Hussein and his wife) while they were eating the forbidden fruit.

After the incident, Hussein came out strong to deny he was busted devouring someone else’s wife. Even though there was no ‘tangible’ evidence to prove Hussein had an affair with the said politician’s wife, one would only expect the singer to be a little more careful when it comes to matters concerning his love.

Even so, Hussein was caught on camera bare-chested with a muzungu lady caressing him all over.

husa.jpg

Ghafla! tried to reach Hussein for explanation about his romantic escapade but his phone went unanswered.

It is however not known whether the Bongo star is dating the muzungu lady or she was his side-dish. Anyway, keep it Ghafla! we will update you once we manage to reach Hussein.

Betty Bayo’s Video Launch Had More Than 10,000 People! (photos)

The Song In her heart this morning goes like(cues the Cello)  ‘…. What Faith Can Do- Kutless

Everybody falls sometimes
Gotta find the strength to rise
From the ashes
And make a new beginning

Anyone can feel the ache
You think it’s more than you can take
But you’re stronger
Stronger than you know

Don’t you give up now
The sun will soon be shining
You gotta face the clouds
To find the silver lining

We are all privy to the catstrophe that befell the child of God, Betty Bayo, a few months ago when her husband was caught off guard (or is it pants down) duping innocent Kenyans and extorting money from them with the promise that he would release the grace of God upon their lives.

You would have thought that Betty would be a goner for sure, but God, who dwells in the heavens hadn’t forsaken her. Indeed, “Whatever you have prayed for will come true someday, It may not be in the exact package that you wished for, but it will be what God thinks is best for you.”

Yesterday, she was launching her two videos Starring and Experiment in an event that  was graced by top Kenyan artists and among them media personalities that had come to witness the rise of the phoenix from the ashes!

Did This Man Surprise New Fiancée with a Chopper on Valentine’s Day? (Photo)

Someone once told me that “Nairobi ina Wenyewe” and it is true, one can tell by the number of envy-inducing and shiny  sports cars hitting our streets and the amount of money people are willing to cough up for a night in presidential suite. And we cannot forget the eye-popping popping price-tags and the mega-homes that look like something off Beverly Hills.

We may be part of the third world but others we have of the wealthiest people on the continent. Some people who are so wealthy that a rose on Valentine’s Day or Cellar Cask wine is not good enough for their loved ones. They want the best of the best as demonstrated by the overbooking of the Villarosa Kempinski 2.4 million suite

And we were impressed when the picture below picture was posted by one Instagram user named Dennis  Charles .It was a pic of a man allegedly getting down on one knee and proposed to his girlfriend and gave her a chopper on Valentine’s Day.

proposal.jpg

Photo:Dennis Charles

Dennis Charles claimed that he witnessed all this and this is what he wrote about the said picture:

Epic Saturday Morning ️ just watched this beautiful Lady get gifted by her Man with a Helicopter as an engagement present . Incase you were wondering, she said yes…naturally. Congratulations to my favourite clients and Nairobi’s number 1 power couple. Proof that Kenyan men don’t play around. #Levels #YourMamasPriceTag #Lanes #MyFavouriteClients #Ballin #YourManBoughtYouAVitz #YoungAndMinted #PowerCouple #LoveIsInTheAir #RichKidsOfNairobi #Nairobi #Kenya

But apparently we shouldn’t get too excited as the proposal and the consequential handing over of the said helicopter did not take place at Wilson Airport; it did not even happen in Kenya for that matter, not even in Africa. It took place at San Diego California, where a man proposed to his girlfriend outside Corporate Helicopters on July 6 2013 before the two love birds took a ride over San Diego.

Spencer Okach, The Man Who Allegedly Paid 2.34 Million For The Presidential Suite At Kempinski Is A Fake Luo….And Here Are The Facts To Prove It

Last week, as the Valentines fever was sweeping town, a marketer called Spencer Okach made headlines after posting a receipt of the presidential suite at Villa Rossa Kempinski that cost 2.34 million shillings.

Now the problem is that another person, a respectable lady called Cynthia Nyamai is said to have also booked the suite for her rich foreign boyfriend. Uuuum…so is one person lying? Maybe not…..and maybe yes. Let’s just assume that Spencer did indeed spend the night there. He’s still a fake Luo and his credibility is hemorrhaging. .

I am not trying to strip him off his ethnicity. I am just saying that he doesn’t roll like a Luo millionaire should. The thing is, after I analyzed his Instagram account I began to marvel at the disconnect between his real life and his Kempinski life. Even King’ang’i claimed that he knows Spencer personally and he doesn’t think the guy has that kind of money. But even if he does have deep pockets, he’s not a true Luopean. Here is why..

No photographic evidence

There are no photos of Spencer at Kempinsky on all his social media accounts. I mean which Luo goes to an exotic place and doesn’t take selfies? Paying 2.34 million for a place and not taking pictures sounds a bit lame. Why Jatelo….why? It’s like visiting the queen of Britain and not posing for the paparazzi with her. It’s like smashing Miss Ethiopia and not telling your friends about it. Omera, it’s like going to the Bahamas and not playing with a creamy beauty on the beach

Hio ni kutuangusa….. Note that Luos say kutuangusa not kutuangusha. The ‘H’ goes to their HTC smartphones. Donge?

Cheap shoes

Hawa viatu si ni wa pale tu Gikomba yawa?

spencer1111

No Mercedes, BMW or Range Rover

It’s only fair that a man who affords to blow such a huge sum of money in one night drives an expensive foreign automobile right? . Swell….Spencer has over 500 photos on Instagram but there’s no sign of an expensive car anywhere. Infact the guy owns a Toyota Mark X bwana. Aiyayaiyaaaa. Hapa tumecheswa

I Would Die To Have Mark Masai, Yvonne Bulimo Confesses Before Ghafla Cameras

Everybody has that person they would love to be with for the rest of their lives. That person they cannot pass a day without flushing them through their minds. That person who really appeals to everything they own. That person they see as a solution to their love quagmires that they sometimes find themselves in.

For former Tujuane host Yvonne Bulimo, that person is NTV presenter Mark Masai.

It can be remembered that it was in late January this year that Mark walked down the aisle his long term fiancee Fiona as they became a couple.

However, this seems not to have discouraged Yvonne as she confessed that Mark still remains her celebrity crush.

“Mark is a nice looking man. He is handsome and so cool. The other day I saw him in town and my heart skipped. I have a big crush on Mark,” Yvonne confessed in front of our cameras.

She went ahead to say something about the veteran TV personality:

Kenyan Artistes Find Relief After Musician And Radio Presenter Teams Up With Johnson Mwakazi To Play 100% Kenyan Music

For a long time Kenyan artistes have been sidelined when it comes to playing and showcasing their work on Kenyan media. Instead, they have watched from a distance as foreign artistes are given first priority in almost every platform in Kenya, effectively making Kenya look amateurs in the entertainment industry.

However, this is set to end after musician Kay B, who also adds up as a radio presenter with one of the vernacular radio stations owned by the Royal Media Services, launched a campaign aimed at giving Kenyan artistic work 100% airplay.

Through his show Vipaji Kenya, Kay B aims at creating a platform where all Kenyans artists will be able to show their talent and tell the world what they are made of.

Kay B

Kay B

Ghafla Kenya came across the Vipaji Kenya 2015 trailer and sought to know what Kay B’s aim is.

“Vipaji Kenya is a campaign aimed at helping Kenyan artistes realise their dream because for a long time they have been overlooked for foreign a rtistes,” Kay B says.

So what will the show be all about? Is it just showing videos produced by Kenyan artistes?

“The show will entail almost everything that Kenyans artistes do. We will not only show videos and songs but we will be bringing artistes to our studios and have interviews with them. We will also allow any artiste to send their songs, whether audio or visual and after playing it, we will give viewers and listeners a chance to give their views on the same.”

Kay B goes on to say, “I don’t believe it when people call someone an upcoming artiste. There is nothing like that. An artiste is an artiste. The only difference is that he/she has not been given the platform to show their talent.”

The show is set to premier on Johnson Mwakazi’s new TV station, WTV.

Kay B is a himself a musician who also hosts a ragga show on Royal Media’s Egesa FM.

Here is the trailer of the Vipaji Kenya show:

Caroline Mutoko Takes A Dig At NTV, QTV, Citizen And KTN and Says Digital Migration Must Happen

Digital migration must happen. This is the newest phrase in town that has been making rounds after three media houses in the country switched themselves off from digital platforms after the CAK switched off their analogue broadcasting.

And as the saga rages on, many more people are throwing themselves into the discussion.

Among them is celebrated radio girl Caroline Mutoko who has taken a swipe at the three media houses who went ahead to switch themselves off from digital platforms in protest of what the CAK did.

Mutoko has said that digital migration is set to benefit many and she calls this tyranny of success. She has therefore blasted the three media houses and called on them to embrace digital migration lest they remain behind as others forge forward.

Here is what she added:

CA’s Analogue Switch-off And The Subsequent Total Switch-off By Citizen TV, KTN, NTV and QTV In Protest Is The Worst Tragedy To Ever Hit Kenyans… These Are The Consequences We Are Likely To Face

The country is literally in total darkness after the Communication Authority of Kenya made good its threat and forcefully switched off major TV stations from analogue broadcasting, in what they say is a move aimed at moving to digital broadcasting.

The darkness was even increased further when Citizen TV, KTN, NTV and QTV went on to switch themselves off from even the digital platforms in protest of the manner in which the CA and the government is handling the whole delicate issue of digital migration.

This is where the whole problem began leading to squabbles that have now returned the country to the dark days. I mean days when information was scarce and was released to the public in bits when and as some individuals wanted.

The Kenyan government went ahead and gave foreign companies more frequencies to broadcast digitally, a move that did not go down well with major media players in the 254. These include companies that own Startimes and Gotv service providers which, according to the three major media houses in the country, are airing their content without their consent, effectively infringing on the copyright laws.

Their argument may seem like it is out of desire the negatively beat competition but a keen analysis into it will clearly tell you that there is more than what meets the eye. Something fishy is being peddled in the media industry in Kenya and it is like someone somewhere wants to put the fourth estate under their armpits like it is their purse.

RMS, NMG and SGL are protesting the limited number of frequencies allocated to them compared to what the government has allocated to the foreign companies. The big question is, why would the government allocate more frequencies to a foreign company at the expense of the local media players who understand the demographics of viewership and listenership in the republic? This prompts us to smell some foul play here and this is what has been the bone of contention that has seen court battles bitterly fought for justice to prevail.

citizen tv ke

When the four major TV stations put up a sponsored advert discouraging Kenyans from acquiring Gotv and Startimes decorders to get their content, the CA moved quickly and withdrew the license given to the media houses after terming the move negative competition and infringement of the free-t-o-air rule. This also explains why this cold blood between the CA and the four TV stations has accelerated the analogue switch off. This, to many Kenyans, is very detrimental.

And now after seeing how brutal and cruel the CA and the government are towards them, the four major TV stations in the country opted to switch themselves off from the digital platform to plunge the country into information-deficiency and what can be termed as limbo.

KTN

I have been scouring through the social media platforms and the internet in general to see what Kenyans have to say about the whole saga. While many are against the move by the CA to shut down analogue broadcasting, a few are still lingering in naivety and ignorance.

With all due respect, we cannot just afford to celebrate the move by CA to switch off analogue broadcasting not because it is benefiting Kenyans but because they the CA wants to impress China and South Africa at the expense of locals who have played a major role in uplifting the economy of this country.

I was disappointed particularly when my friend and college mate Kura Kipkura posted saying, “I hope my friends who have been asking me why I am ever glued to international news channels are now on the know.” Kura simply means he has never given a shit about the local media houses because he sees nothing in them.

Unfortunately, Kura will someday want NTV, KTN, Citizen or QTV to employ him because he is a journalist from Moi University. Before he even lands in CNN, BBC, CCTV, Al-Jazeera or Sky sports or wherever, he needs to prove himself from home. That is what the likes of Beatrice Marshall, Ramah Nyang, Ferdinand Omondi, Ng’endo Angela and even Esther Githui Yuati have done before they moved international.

ntv

Away from that, my father tells me that there was a time when the only media house in the country was KBC and that KBC couldn’t say anything without the mention of the then president, Daniel Moi. He also tells me that no one would dare criticize the Moi government because that would spell their doom.

He further alludes that Kenyans were deprived of information and that that is why there were extra-judicial killings and assassinations which couldn’t be reported. Whoever questioned or went against the regime would disappear never to appear again.

A lot happened in those days until media freedom was realized during the Kibaki reign. This explains why SK Macharia’s Radio Citizen was paralysed in 1998 when it tried to establish itself. There was monopoly of information then. Someone really decided when and how Kenyans got information.

Fast forward to today; the CA is trying to plunge us into those days. It has intentionally caused a kerfuffle by rocking horns with the three media houses, probably to please someone who has a lot of interest in the media industry in Kenya. We all know that.

Since yesterday, the country has literally been in the dark information-wise, as many don’t really know what is happening within and without. Even those who thought the social media would suffice are now seeing the logic behind why mainstream media is the main source of information in Kenya.

I once had a discussion with a colleague who for reasons well known to him told me that we no longer need the mainstream media now that bloggers like me and the social media exist. I digressed from the topic because I knew he did not understand the importance of mainstream media. Apart from setting the agenda, mainstream media is the biggest watchdog that Kenyans and the world. This is the benefit that Kenyans have been deprived of following the forceful shut down of analogue broadcasting.

One thing that appalls me and the like-minded ones is the fact that the four TV stations have not refused to comply to digital migration. They are willing to do it but have requested for more time to buy their own set-top boxes to be able to serve their customers effectively. Why then is the CA not giving them that time? What is this hurry for? Is something fishy cooking somewhere?

Kenya is in the dark. The watchdog benefit Kenyans have so enjoyed since the days of former President Mwai Kibaki has been taken away from them. I mean from us. Majority of the population who depend on analogue broadcasting and the four major TV stations live below the poverty line. Some live in abject poverty. What has the CA done to ensure that even as they switch to digital broadcasting the poor Kenyan is not left behind in this process? Absolutely nothing.

In fact it is now turning out that it is only Kenya where one has to pay to get information. This is what NTV, KTN, Citizen and QTV are fighting. They want to introduce their set-top boxes which you don’t pay anything to access their content.

Imagine what will happen when the media is not there to show us the ills happening in the society. Facebook, twitter, instagram, name them are not enough to show how many men rape their kids in Murang’a and kill them thereafter. They are not enough to tell us how many witches got burnt in Kisii for practicing what is deemed illegal. They are not enough to tell us how many perverted Maasai women went ahead to cut their girls against the directive that FGM is illegal in Kenya.

And even if they told us this, they wouldn’t expound it and bring it to perspective as the mainstream media would do.

Pictures speak louder than words. Moving pictures speak the loudest than still pictures. This explains why we need TV more than anything. We are not going to rely only on K24 and KBC for information. After all who these day and age watches KBC when Citizen, KTN, NTV, QTV and K24 are available? The international media is not going to cover a bestiality act in Kiambu where a man sleeps with his cow which he milks every day. It is not going to cover an incident where children with albinism along the Kenya-Tanzania border are trailed to be kidnapped for reasons well known.

It is our media that will do all this. This explains when unnecessary arrests are gonna take place, someone will rot in jail because there won’t be public outcry. Take for instance when Abraham Mutai was recently arrested. It was Larry Madowo who raised the alarm through NTV and rallied Kenyans to demand for the immediate release of Mutai.

This and many more are the reasons why the CA should reconsider its actions and settle its squabbles with the four media houses. Even those Kenyans who are happy about this move have now seen the damage that can be done without the fourth estate.

We need our watchdogs back. Lest we find ourselves in serious limbo. There is no way forward for Kenyans unless the four media houses are back on air ASAP.

My grandmother does not know what internet is. She depends entirely on NTV for information. She cannot be put in the dark for no apparent reason. She needs information because it is her sole right.

The Communication Authority should rescind its decision and reach an amicable solution with the four TV stations to save Kenyans. If this does not happen, watch this space. Blatant breakage of the law will be the order of the day as there is no media to keep people on toes.

Grab more land. Detain more Wadis without fair trial. Arrest more Alais. Eat more chicken. Brag more on how you killed others. This is you time. The media is nowhere. This is your time people. The dog has religiously watched on our behalf is dead. It is your time now to land on us with blows and kicks and insults and arrests and detentions and many other beastly acts. The CA killed the dogs.

The TRUTH: This Is The Real Reason Why NTV, KTN, Citizen TV And QTV Were Forcefully Shutdown

The four leading television channels in the country, Citizen TV, KTN, ntv and QTV were forcefully shutdown on Saturday. But was the real reason behind the contentious switch off?

The Three leading media houses; Nation Media Group (NMG), Standard Group Limited (SGL) and Royal Media Services (RMS) have jointly released a press statement explaining why their channels were shut down by the government.

The three allege the forceful shutdown was a well calculated step by the government aimed at compelling the three media houses to avail their signal for distribution by the government-owned SIGNET and the government’s preferred Chinese-owned distributor Pan Africa Group (PANG) that also operates Pay TV service Star Times.

The three also took issues by the statement issued by Cabinet Secretary for Information, Communications and Technology, Fred Matiang’i whom they accuse of intimidating the three media houses into giving in to the contentious, pre-determined and unacceptable position taken by the Communications Authority on digital signal distribution.

Check out the press statement below:

PRESS STATEMENT BY NMG , SGL AND RMS

SUBJECT: THE TRUTH ABOUT ANALOGUE SWITCH OFF

We have read the statement by Cabinet Secretary for Information, Communications and Technology Fred Matiang’i and here wish to provide the accurate account of the events around digital migration, including the forceful shutdown of analogue transmission for NTV, KTN, Citizen and QTV;

On Saturday the 14th of February 2015, at around midday, officials from the Communications Authority accompanied by armed policemen made forceful entry into the NTV, CITIZEN, KTN and QTV transmission stations in Limuru and dismantled and carted away equipment.

The three media houses have been broadcasting on ANALOGUE platform and the dismantling of the equipment by the CA in Limuru effectively switched off our transmission. We have NOT been broadcasting on digital and the application that was before the Supreme Court was about being afforded adequate time to order, import and install digital broadcast equipment.

The forceful shutdown of analogue broadcasting was clearly calculated at forcing the three media houses to avail their signal for distribution by the government-owned SIGNET and the government’s preferred Chinese-owned distributor Pan Africa Group PANG that also operates Pay TV service Star Times.

Forcing the three media houses to avail their channels to either PANG or SIGNET will be inconsistent with the right to carry their own content as provided by the Self Provisioning Licence reinstated by the Supreme Court on Friday the 13th February 2015.

It is incomprehensible that the ICT Cabinet Secretary and the Communications Authority choose to blame the three media houses for a broadcast switch off that the government and the regulator is entirely responsible for.

We note with concern that the statement by the Cabinet Secretary is laced with threats aimed at intimidating the three media houses into giving in to the contentious, pre-determined and altogether unacceptable position taken by the Communications Authority on digital signal distribution.

Finally, to our viewers, we regret the inconvenience caused by the unfortunate developments arising entirely from the gross mishandling of the digital migration process by the Communications Authority and other forces.

The three media houses have been and will always remain committed to digital migration and we are doing everything possible to get your channels back on air.

NTV, CITIZEN, KTN and QTV.

Are Eric Omba And Gloria Muliro Finally Getting Back Together? See Details

After the bitter break up, it appears Pastor Eric Omba is keen to rekindle his undying love for his sweetheart, Gloria Muliro.

Over the weekend, on Valentine’s day to be precise, Pastor Eric Omba sent a romantic message to his ‘former’ wife, Gloria Muliro.

Eric was however fast to pull down the message from his timeline. But even before he removed it, one thing that stood out clear was love. Eric still has strong affection for Gloria Muliro.

omba.png

Accompanying Eric’s message was a photo of the two (Eric and Gloria) showing off their wedding rings. It appears the estranged Pastor was reminding Gloria of their vows; ‘for better for worse, till death do us apart…’

So is Eric desperately trying to woo back his wife or is he just obsessed? (Seems he can’t get over Gloria Muliro.)

Guess only time will tell that.

You can now get a few movies. Local Tv stations are officially off air till further notice

The Government has effected a major Television shutdown despite an earlier ruling  by the court that gave the five media houses ample time to import their own  decoders.

In compliance with the communication Authority CA  analogue switch off order,  we regret to inform our viewers that our regular broadcasts are no longer on air.Despite the supreme courts ruling of February 13 2015  reinstating us the licence and frequencies for digital broadcasting  broadcasting ….

The CA has refused to give us the required time for us to import our own set top boxes. For this reason we shall go off air until we get our own decoders that will enable us to broadcast to you.

We apologize for the mishap.

Mapenzi Ni Dawa, The Perfect Kenyan Love Song!

I have listened to a respectable number of song this first quarter of 2015, but none has surpassed the thrill I felt after listening to “Mapenzi ni dawa” by Shadrack Omuchei. He has remained in the shadows, masked by his genius, Shaddyyoko can do all genres of music with such grace and elegance like you can’t imagine.  He has done reggae, techno, benga, bongo and other genres that I shall let you imagine.

His newest Video, mapenzi ni dawa explores the healing power of love, the hedonoic aspect that most of us know only too well. Unlike most videos, this is one love song that you can dance and humm to as you let the music take control!

Business At Veteran House (Where Ghafla Has An Office) Comes To A Standstill After A Fire Breaks Out.

Business has come to a halt at Veteran house Moi avenue after an electric fault. A loud explosion rattled the building and as wraiths of smoke rose from the ground floor to the 8th floor.

There was a stampede as everyone (including the Ghafla crew) scampered to safety via the stairs. It was like the apocalypse, everyone wanted to run down the winding stretch of the stairs as the pungent fumes of burnt rubber assaulted our nostrils.  Luckily there were no casualties as the inferno was contained, however there were rumors that some people were still stuck in the elevator after the lights went off.

This comes a week after City star restaurant along Kimathi Street  went up in flames after an electric fault. The two buildings are only 10 meters apart or so.

Forget Valentines, Forget Kempenski, This Right Here is The Real Deal #AirtelDXD

Okay ladies and gentlemen, before you start throwing stones and trolling me all over the place, hear me out first.

I know valentines is important and I know spending 2.3 million at Kempenski and then later showing off on Instagram is equally important but Design Thinking(DXD-Disruption by Design) on the other hand, this is just something else, something bound to change your life and maybe score you more nights at Kempenski.

Just in case you’re wondering what I’m on about on such a fine Friday morning, I’m talking about the latest initiative between Airtel Kenya and UP magazine aimed at rewarding designers in Kenya.

As research has clearly shown, design plays an intricate part in our lives and all in all makes life easier. Even that fake receipt from the local butcher you’ve no doubt seen by now, of the ‘real jatelo’ that coughed up the 2.3M for the ‘Night of Diamonds’ at Kempenski required design to formulate. That’s why the two stakeholders have come together to recognise and award you for your creativity.

They’re looking to identify creative designers in the area of architecture, communication, fashion, web and tech and also green design. And it’s pretty simple to be part of it as individual candidates will be required to be citizens or long term residents of Kenya. Corporations on the other hand must have their headquarters in Kenya but remember the designs are expected to be already existing and functioning.

Interested? Then make an effort to show for the launch of this project which will go down on the 19th of this month at Dusit2 along Riverside drive. This is where the official communication of where the designs will be submitted will be relayed where they will in turn go through an official nominating committee before going through a jury’s review. Finally the public will have the final say.

The award looks at showcasing key change makers in Kenya who use solution based thinking to overcome challenges and offer relevant solutions to improve people’s lives. Airtel believes that by recognizing and highlighting disruptive designers, they’ll be able to bring discussion of design, design thinking and solution based approaches to the fore with the Kenyan public and as a result spark more human centred and sustainable design led options for more people and access and implement.

And for the first time we get an award that delves away from singing or modelling as God knows we were getting tired of those. Keep it Ghafla as we’ll be covering this huge phenomenon every step of the way.

Jalang’o Finally Reveals Why He Left Kiss 100

Before the rebrand of Kiss 100 that saw Kalekye Mumo and Shaffie Weru take over the breakfast show, Kiss 100 mornings always had Caroline Mutoko co hosting with a comedian.

She hosted the show alongside Nyambane before Jalang’o took over for 5-6 years then Chipukeezy came in before he was transferred to the drive show.

Many do not know why Jalang’o left Kiss 100 but he opens up about his departure in a candid interview on Jeff Koinange Love (JKL)

Jalang’o says that the reason that he left Kiss 100 was because he had already hit the roof, he had already hit the ceiling. He could not rise above his position at that time as he was working alongside bigwigs such as Kalekye, Shaffie and Caroline and it was hard to get noticed .

So he had to take a few steps backwards so that he could launch himself into success, and that is when he joined Radio Maisha and now his fame and influence has grown  exponentially.
