Huddah Monroe is on the receiving end after she ‘unintentionally’ stepped on some people’s toe with her comment. Her post has been deemed offensive and as a result the internet has decided to reciprocate by whipping her tiny behind.

The self-styled socialite was on a noble mission of enlightening her social media fans on the importance of hitting the gym only that her message was blown out of proportion.

“I now understand why fat people remain fat! Working out is not easy! Everyone who knows me personally knows I’ve never worked out or done any exercises! But my GOD, I’ve tried! The GYM is not a place for the weak hearted! I’m about to quit on day 3. I thought It was a playground.” Wrote Huddah.

Out of the fifty five or so words Huddah wrote, only the word ‘FAT’ stood out and that was the genesis of all insults that rained upon the socialite.

Poor Huddah didn’t know she was treading on eggshells with a ‘delicate’ topic. As much I have pity for her, the internet didn’t. See some of the comments posted in response to Huddah’s post on the next page:

M-Net has put on hold plans to shut down Maisha Magic in March and extended the viewing of the channel to the end of May this year.  Viewers have now been assured that they will still enjoy their favourite shows as arrangements are being made on a smooth transition as well as a natural closure to some of the channel’s already on-air shows.

Maisha Magic now broadcasting on Channel 161 on DStv, was initially set for termination end of March 2015 due to inability to achieve the required ratings. According to M-Net Sub Sahara Africa CEO Patricia Van Rooyen, the business decision was taken after much deliberation following an assessment of the channel’s performance.

Among shows currently on air on Maisha Magic include popular comedy shows Don’t mess with Kansiime, Mr and Mr’s Singh and Mazagazaga. Others are music reality TV show  Maisha Superstar, Tujuane Plus and drama shows such as Rush and Deception. Veve, an original Kenyan film which won Best Indigenous Movie Swahili category in this year’s AMVCA awards, premiered on the channel in November last year.

While confirming its commitment to the East African region, M-Net has now pledged to utilize its resources towards revitalizing and improving the content on the remaining Maisha Magic Swahili channel, which is on both GOtv and DStv,  to make it more entertaining and appealing to viewers in Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania.

Nairobi Senator, Mike Sonko, has once again extended his helping hand to rescue veteran actor, Mzee Ojwango, who was secretly ailing in his home.

He had disappeared from the screen for quite a while now. Mzee Ojwang’o’s whereabouts were not known till now.

The actor was playing a lead role in one of the country’s pioneer comedy show, Vitimbi. He unceremoniously went missing from the show igniting numerous speculations the most common one being the worst thing that can happen to a human.

But Mzee was forced off the screen because his health was deteriorating. He was being affected by partial blindness, a condition that is common with folks at his age.

Fellow veteran comedians notified the generous Sonko about Mzee Ojwang’o’s health condition and he immediately dispatched a team to rush the ailing actor to Loresho Hospital to seek medical attention.

Betty Kyallo is arguably one of the most decorated TV sirens today thanks to her attractive looks and a captivating voice as she presents on KTN every Friday. Her show ‘Friday Briefing’ is quickly gaining fame among listeners as Betty gives guests a chance to present news with her live in studio.

But did you know anything about Betty Kyallo apart from seeing her on screen every Friday evening? Well, do not worry. Ghafla! Kenya brings you the story of Betty Kyallo, her humble beginnings and how she landed at KTN.

Betty Kyallo was born and raised in Rongai in the outskirts of Nairobi. She went to primary school in Lang’ata and later to Kangundo Girls in Machakos county.

As Betty grew up, she always wanted to be a nun because of the fascination she received as she attended church with her parents. Betty dearly admired nuns every time she saw them in church and promised herself that someday she would become one.

Little did she know that this would change thanks to the influence the likes of former TV anchors Catherine Kasavuli and Beatrice Marshall had on her. Betty says she looked up to Kasavuli and wanted to be like her. This completely changed her desire to be a nun. She instead embraced journalism dearly and would stand in front of mirrors trying to be a journalist.

Her passion for journalism landed her in Daystar University where she embraced the profession and in her third year of study, she applied for internship at KTN where she was luckily taken in and her career started blossoming.

It is at KTN that Betty started showing glimpses of greatness. Here, her love for cars also prompted her to start a cars show. However, as fate is, it also at some point landed in trouble as sometime as she sped in Lang’ata, her car veered off the road and crashed into a ditch. Luckily, she escaped with minor injuries and learned her lesson: never to speed again.

Betty also reveals the motivation behind her Friday Briefing show on KTN. She says that she wanted something different from what viewers had seen over years on their screens. She wanted an interactive news session where she would interact with viewers directly in studio.

Betty says that despite enjoying her profession as a journalist, she faces quite a number of challenges among them too high expectations from her bosses and a false perception from the public about TV sirens. Betty says that people think they are paid dearly and this makes them have high expectations on TV personalities.

On matters relationship, Betty admits that she is dating NTV’s Dennis OKari who is also father to her daughter. She says that relationships come with challenges and one of the challenges she faces is that of people hitting on them despite knowing that they are dating. Betty says that men almost always hit on her and she needs to take her time and explain to them. Funny enough, even her guests on TV hit on her after the show. She revealed that women also hit on her man, Dennis Okari, and she is sometimes forced to pick his phone and tell them off.

What is Betty working on?

She says that she is on a mega project inspired by America’s Oprah Winfrey and that she wants to become Kenya’s Oprah Winfrey with the show. All you need to do is religious wait as she finalizes on the show.

Where will it air? Probably KTN. Or the new TV station that Ghafla Kenya exclusively reported the Standard Group wants to put up. Only time will tell.

Ever heard of the Simama Outreach Trust Program? If not, allow me to enlighten you. Simama Outreach Trust is a mentorship program based in Majengo slums which addresses issues that young people face such as drugs and alcohol abuse, prostitution, unemployment and peer education.

More So, Faith Muturi has been running the program for close to 8 years. And all her efforts have been recognized! This was by Pillars of Africa in an award ceremony held recently- in a luncheon ceremony held at Gem Suites, Statehouse avenue Nairobi. Faith was awarded the Female Humanitarian Award and Overall Pillars of Africa Winner. This is a recognition as an African Pillar & youth peer role model.

Eric Omondi and Fred Omondi are brothers who ventured into the same profession: comedy and have never disappointed in the days they have been in the industry.

The two are known for their humorous and hilarious nature, and many have been wondering how they have managed to wow viewers without faltering in their profession.

Eric Omondi, the elder brother to Fred Omondi, has spoken about his brother, what he thinks about him and his entry into comedy.

Speaking exclusively to Ghafla! Kenya, Eric says that Fred is the funniest comedian he has ever known and thinks that his brother is the comedian who has never disappointed.

Eric admits he himself has faltered before but Fred has never because he believes in himself and has the conviction that he is the best comedian.

On their working relationship, Eric says that he finds it easy to work with his brother because they have grown together and they know each other quite well.

The comedian says that his brother is the easiest person to work with and that you can trust him to do the best for you.

The Kenyan actress is in Museveni’s territory after secretly jetting into Matokeland, a popular Ugandan blog has reported.

Even as the world is still in fascination following the actress’ exploits in the acting industry, Lupita Nyong’o is in East Africa, though secretly, to continue with her acting activities.

It is reported that the daughter to Kisumu Senator Prof. Anyang Nyong’o has jetted secretly into Uganda to participate in the shooting of the Disney Movie Queen of Katwe that is based on the story of chess prodigy Phiona Mutesi.

Matoke Republic reports that: “We had reported that shooting would begin on 25th March, but our sources say there have been a few delays and shooting will now commence on 8th April. Lupita was spotted by Matoke Republic at Speke Resort Munyonyo on Tuesday and staff at the hotel confirmed that she is a resident there. “There was a lot of excitement when she had just checked in, but staff have recollected themselves to make her stay comfortable,” our source told us.”

The US-based Kenyan actress was recently on the spotlight after her dress which is worth Kshs.13 Million was stolen and later returned for having fake pearls. It was a dress she donned on the 2015 Oscar Awards.

Her journey to Uganda is part of the activities the actress has embarked on in 2015.

Lupita should pass by (Kenya) and say hi before she returns back to the US.

Dr Tim Smith says: “He is an embarrassment to the BBC, which is generally regarded in high esteem, and is continually bringing it into disrepute. This should not be allowed to continue.” That was a comment after word got out that popular show host has been fired.

Sources said he was accused of hitting the producer in an incident last week, and the remaining three episodes of the current series might not be broadcast.

BBC confirmed one episode – due for broadcast on Sunday – would not be shown, but gave few further details. Clarkson, 54, has not commented, but has been joking on social media about films that could replace Sunday’s show. He was given what he called his “final warning” last May after claims he used a racist word during filming. At the time, he said the BBC had told him he would be sacked if he made “one more offensive remark, anywhere, at any time”. In a statement earlier, the BBC said: “Following a fracas with a BBC producer, Jeremy Clarkson has been suspended pending an investigation. “No-one else has been suspended. “Top Gear will not be broadcast this Sunday. “The BBC will be making no further comment at this time.”

It is that time the Swahili saying, ‘Pwagu hupata pwaguzi’, comes to pass as Eric Omondi finds his perfect match in a primary school boy.

Eric is well known for his comedy which normally entails dissing others and making fun out of the disses, effectively taking his comedy a notch higher.

A primary school boy has dissed the comedian with one of the most hilarious lines that are likely to plunge the young man into fame. These are the things that make comedians in Kenya you.

The video shared by Sleepy Kenya shows the boy sarcastically question Eric’s physical appearance as the boy imitates comedian Sleepy David.

The boy wonders why Eric, a millionaire, is so thin. He goes on to dis Big Ted, wondering why a sufferer is well built than a millionaire.

Sleepy shared the video on his instagram account. The question is, have Eric and Big ted seen this? And is comedian Churchill seeing this boy?

Churchill is known for spotting talent and nurturing it to the maximum. It is through his Churchill show that the likes of Eric Omondi and Sleepy David were born.

Once in a while you meet that one person that alters your whole destiny.

You can call them heaven sent since they are angels who either guide us to where we are supposed to be or help us achieve things we never thought possible.

For 1 Mwangi, that person is Jaguar whom he met at a Cerebral Palsy Charity walk and Jaguar promised to take care of him including paying his physical therapy bills. Jaguar was true to his word and a year on, Mwangi who was wheelchair bound can now make calls and dance. Jaguar shared these photos captioned:

Storms over paradise?

When Mediamax came into operation a few years ago, it took over the scene like a tornado, their strategy:-  cripple the market leader Citizen Tv and take over, in a shadily executed move, they went for the jugular, in a much publicized event, they poached each an every journalist who had a reputation behind them.  At that time, my father, a follower of Tom Mboya and Belinda Obura even switched channels, he would no longer clasp the remote tightly in his palm, particularly enthralled by Citizen Tv’s programming. K24 had found a new viewer. 

 Along the way Mediamax lost it, they were  more concerned with being the leaders than what they were offering their new viewers. at the receiving end , Citizen Tv still held on, steadfast and unmoved by the doldrums, what was originally meant to cripple the market leader made it a little stronger- You know, what doesn’t kill you gives a little more fortitude. 

Years later and the company is teetering on the edge of an abyss, Belinda obura and Tom Mboya have since resigned from the station,  -rumor has it that they resigned after differences with the management. “They were not delivering as per the contract..” an insider would reveal. Me thinks that the company is blaming its failure to lure an audience on innocent journalists. A few years ago Tom and Belinda were the biggest thing on the Kenyan television. What happened when they went to K24?  Their allure dwindled to a flicker, masked by the non-performing media entity. 

 If you thought that Belinda and Tom Resigning was big news, you need to take a couple of seats and think again. Their resignation was a harbinger of the blizzard to come. My source revealed to me that a myriad of workers were contemplating on resigning in the weeks to come, he however did not cite the reasons for the resignation saying that we would all get the news in good time.. We shall wait anyways! 

Before the blizzard hits the company, however, Paulo Muchesi, a sports anchor at K24 is leaving the employ of mediamax in favor of BBC where he will be working on a Swahili program dubbed Global News Beat program. This will also see him leave his post at Milele FM where he hosts mbalamwezi – a daily show that runs  from 1a.m -4a.m.

It was just this week that Ghafla! Kenya ran a story of Baby Wendy, the young acrobat who wowed the president and other dignitaries in last year’s Jamhuri Day celebrations with her skills in acrobatics. (read here) After the celebrations, Baby Wendy was invited to State House by President Uhuru to perform for the dignitaries who included Rwanda’s Paul Kagame and Uganda’s Museveni.

Here, Baby Wendy (9 years old) was given promises by President Uhuru and Paul Kagame, promises that she has waited for over four months to be fulfilled but all in vain.

Baby Wendy took it upon herself to write an emotional letter to President Uhuru, a letter which Ghafla Kenya managed to acquire, and ran a story about it.

And now it seems the story has reached the president who has gotten in touch with Baby Wendy and promised to fulfill all that he had promised the youngster late last year.

Reports reaching us say that the president got directly in touch with Baby Wendy and assured her that he will honour his promises.

Baby Wendy is a happy youngster now as she is assured of the promises, and she can’t wait to have them fulfilled.

State House said: “We have explained the way forward. We will keep our promise. Her interest will be taken care of, her promises will be fulfilled. We expect a certain form of interaction and engagement. It was a promise between the President and Wendy. It will be kept.”

I remember once my boss, who likes visiting the gym, telling me that it is more than what many people think about gym. This was after I spotted some blisters on his hands and inquired if someone had attacked him. And now I understand why Huddah Monroe is contemplating otherwise.

The socialite is contemplating quitting exactly three days after she hit the gym for health purposes.

Huddah Monroe has revealed that she is planning to quit visiting the gym after only three days of practicing for fitness.

The socialite early on said that she was contemplating visiting the gym to make herself fit. She lived to her word and visited one.

But exactly three days into it, it seems the situation in the gym is increasingly becoming unbearable for Huddah, who, coincidentally happens to have visited the gym for the first time in her life.

Huddah says that it was her very first time to visit the gym but what she thought was not what she met there. She says that it is really difficult to work in the gym and that only the strong once are able to survive the hard work done there.

She posted saying she thought it was a playground only to be stunned by the activities going on there.
