Love her or hate her, Vera Sidika is a fascinating being.

And that explains the dilemma most Kenyans found themselves in on Friday, Michelle was hosting Vera on Prime time but at the other end, NTV had Davido in. Who to choose? Was the question of the day but many chose the former.

The socialite was to be hosted alongside Cindy Ogana on K24 to discuss the new age profession of being a Kenyan  socialite but Vera pulled a Kanyari and bailed last minute much to the chagrin of her fans.

While the Nigerian heartthrob was in the country over the weekend, it was alleged that he lost his phone as he got engulfed by a battalion of socialites and party girls as they partied out into the wee hours of the night.

A popular blog reported that the lady behind the purported disappearance of the Davido’s phone had surfaced and bragged how she stole the phone.

However, Just Alusa, as the lady calls herself on twitter, has come out to vehemently deny the accusations and threatened the blog with a court case for what she says is defamation.

Alusa has already contacted the Media Council of Kenya for directions on the same as she clears her name.

It is, however, not clear who is saying the truth as the blog posted a tweet the twitter user made yesterday, though it is not clear if indeed she stole the phone from the international superstar.

Blowing your own trumpet is not bad, in fact it’s recommended especially when it comes to potential ’employability’ and creating hype for your brand. But blowing your own trumpet at the expense of someone else is just tacky.

Rapper Noti Flow who has been compared to Iggy Azalea a couple of times recently took to Pulse recently to talk about Avril. But what she said left a bad taste in our mouths.

“I met her (Avril) the other day and I could not even recognise her. She has lost that shape we all used to love when we were coming into music. She is no longer the sexiest girl in showbiz. I Am.” she said rather self-assuredly.

Adding that “I mean, look at Rihanna. She is still young and she has kept her good shape. What is wrong with Kenyan female singers? How do you let yourself look so bad?”

Such statements court controversy and start beefs but Avril did not have to defend herself on this one as her fans came to her rescue, stings out and pounced of poor petite Noti Flo.

The iron lady was on the receiving end of backlash and criticism from a section of Kenyans who labeled her crazy, mad and/or insane after she sort suitors for her daughters with ultimatums and serious procedures to be followed.

Orie had said that she is expecting men of substance to come for her ladies, but these men should not be batterers and/or drunkards.

This, to many Kenyan men, meant the iron lady was not just harsh but also dictatorial.

However, her daughter who she is looking a suitor for, has jumped to the defense of her mother, saying that she is not mad as many people think and that she means well for them.

Speaking to the Nairobian, Janice Rogo says that her mother spoke their mind because there is no way they would get married to drunkards and batterers at the expense of their joy and life.

Janice says that many people think her mother is dictatorial and wants things done her way, something untrue.

“Let’s not pretend here. She simply said what any rational, well-meaning parent would tell their children, whether they are girls or boys. The only difference is that what she says makes news. If some of the readers who are postulating so loudly bothered to read the article, they would have noted that my mother was categorical that she will let her daughters write their own script. Mind you, we always have and always will,” Janice told the Nairobian.

The best thing about being rich is you can enjoy a lot of luxuries that life has to offer, the fast cars, the palatial palaces and designer merchandise among other things. An added perk is that you can offer your children the best kind of education can buy. And that is where these 10 most expensive schools come into play.

These are the schools where the rich and famous like to take their children. Most of them offer the British Curriculum and their school fees is pretty crazy with caution fees amounting to 150,000, registration fees 50,000 and applications fees 10,000 Kshs.

I came across a video on youtube that listed the top 10 most expensive schools giving out in figures how each and every school cost per term.

With the video as my guide, I did some digging to find out what these schools offer, where they are located and when they were established.

Here is where you are likely to find the Blue Ivy’s of Kenya attending:

10:  Kenton College Preparatory School that is located in the leafy suburbs of Kileleshwa comes in at number 10.

The school was established in January 1924 at Kijabe before moving to Westwood Park Hotel in Ngong’ during World War 2 and subsequently to Kileleleshwa. In this school that was originally owned by Finlay Cramb, you pay Kshs 675,918 per term. So why do we pay an arm and a leg for this school? It is considered one of the top 500 Preparatory Schools in the World.

9. The Banda School-I’m as sure we have all heard about this school that is located in Lang’ata, fourteen kilometers away from the town centre and borders the Nairobi National Park.

Mr. and Mrs. Chitty founded the school 1966 and is currently one of the largest Preparatory schools in the world and one of the best international school in Kenya offering the British curriculum.

The tuition fees per term are 695,000 depending on which year and the outstanding academic, sporting and cultural achievements set it apart from the rest. They also have I pads in school.

8. Gems Cambridge International School .

It is owned and operated by GEMS Education, it’s located in the posh suburbs of Karen. The tuition fee is Kshs 718,480. Its sister schools are located in India, Abu Dhabi and Kampala.

 

 7.Braeburn Imani International School. It’s one of the newest branches of the Braeburn Group of Schools.

The school is located along Mangu Road, Thika and offers a British Curriculum for early years, primary and high school, the school fess is 727,800 per term.

6.Hillcrest International School: The school is located in the South West of Nairobi in the suburb of Karen. It stated started out as a preparatory school in 1966 before expanding into a full blown campus that comprises of Hillcrest Early Years, Hillcrest Preparatory, Hillcrest Secondary and Hillcrest Senior School.

It’s owned by the Hillcrest Investments Limited. School fees amounts to 782,310, super pricey by Kenyan Standards.

5.Peponi School is based about a kilometer away from the Thika Super Highway and is reportedly owned by the Kenyatta family, Kenya’s first family.

It boasts of state-of-the-art facilities and offers activities such as Water Polo, Gym and Aerobics which are common in developed countries but are rare in most Kenyan schools. You pay around 792,000 per term.

4.Brookhouse School is located in Lang’ata on your way to Rongai. The school which bears a striking resemblance to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry (a fictional British school in the Harry Potter Series) offers early, preparatory and secondary schooling.

The school also offers a British Curriculum and students pay 830,000 Kenya Shillings as school fees per term.

3.St Andrews Turi- The school is located at Turi, between Kericho and Nakuru and offers education in the following educational levels: preparatory school, senior school and college. It was established in 1931 by the Levets before it burned down on 29th February, 1941and was later rebuilt by Italian prisoners of war. The school which only the rich can afford has a tuition fee of Kshs 994,500 and that is where Ciku Muiruri’s daughter Erica Gachoka schooled.

 

2. Greensteds International School .

You know things are about to get crazy when the school fees per term surpasses the 1 Million mark. 1,010,000 Kshs to be exact is what you have to pay for your child to school in this high end school.

The school was established in 1936 and just like Banda School, its located near a national park, Nakuru National Park to be exact. Its located 6km from Nakuru .

 

1. International school of Kenya (ISK)

 takes the cake with a whopping 2,070,204 as school fees .It’s the largest international school in Kenya and its notable alumnus include Dan Eldon an English photojournalist and Karen Graham, Canadian author and dietitian.
Unlike most schools on the list, it offers a North American curriculum together with the International Baccalaureate Diploma program.

There you have it ladies and gentlemen, the most expensive schools in Kenya.

Over the weekend, Nigerian heartthrob, Davido, made his way to Nairobi to perform at Carnivore. The gig however isn’t the one thing making Davido wobble on people’s tongues.

The last time Davido came to perform in the 254, (on July 2013) Kenyan socialite, Pendo, claimed she warmed his bed.

Many were eager to know which lass would be lucky enough to get a piece of the Nigerian superstar this time round. Vera Sidika was whispered to be the one getting Davido’s warmth since she was spotted at Carnivore with the rapper.

But as thing would turn out later, it was Lisa Downey who would end up in Davido’s arms. Seems the upcoming socialite is the lucky winner this time!

Downey and Davido shared the same car and even took photos to serve as a souvenir for the meeting. She was kind enough to share photos of her memorable moment with everyone. Check them below:

 

Nigeria’s most sort after singer Davido made his way into the country despite his homeland holding elections last weekend to perform in a much publicized event that was going down at the Carnivore grounds on Saturday.

Davido is rumoured to have jetted into the country in a private jet on Friday before making an appearance on Larry Madowo’s the trend where he disappointed outright by walking away when asked to perform.

At the Carnivore grounds on Saturday night, Kenyans from all walks of life congregated for what many thought was a 2015 show, only to be disappointed by the oga broda who is said to have performed dismally and walked away without a bye.

Among those in the event is celebrated radio personality Shaffie Weru who was among the organizers.

Reports arose saying that Shaffie Weru had an altercation and an exchange of words with bouncers who denied him access to the VVIP lounge.

Shaffie is said to have walked out to respond to the call of nature and when he came back he was denied entry because of what the guards thought was an intrusion.

It is also alleged that Shaffie launched scathing attacks at the bouncers, exchanging bitter words before the impasse was resolved.

However, the self-proclaimed raverend has bitterly denied being involved in altercation with the bouncers. Shaffie says that he was MCeeing and part of the organizers of the event and there is no way he would lock horns with the guards.

He has called these rumours lies and clarified that he was not involved in an altercation.

Meanwhile, many who attended the show indicate that it badly flopped as Davido seriously disappointed with his poor performances, denying Kenyans his hit songs and disappearing without a bye.

 

Davido in Kenya attracted quite the crowd of party goers who have a thing for Nigerian artists. The much hyped event has been trending on twitter with a section of Kenyans showing their disappointment at the concert which was a technical flop. It was downright overrated-critics say. 

 But before you throw in the towel. Two gentlemen saved the night. Dj Creme De la Creme and Dj Hypnotiq. They both played their sets as they built the anticipation  In readiness for the cream of the cake, Davido’s performance. The crowd went crazy! It was clear that a major crowd had come to watch the masters at play. The fans in their droves were not disappointed. Music was dished out to them generously.

His statement on social media was so viral that it was picked up by international media. Kenyans in their droves, unimpressed that a man of his stature would make such an atrocious update that was demeaning to to the womenfolk, vilified him and threw insults at him. Some even threatened to boycott his show… That, ladies and gentlemen, was last week. 

 Churchill made a grisly mistake when he invited the controversial con, Prophet Kanyari. His has been called a mockery of the gospel. In a move to get an audience, Churchill partook in  mocking the gospel with the man that had been using potassium permanganate to swindle money from innocent church goers. 

Kenyans are not impressed. These are some of the reactions  on social media.

 

 

Churchill and his show are still the talk in town after this weekend’s Churchill Show which saw controversial preacher Victor Kanyari appear publicly for the first time since the famous expose that showed how he conned congregants colossal sums of money to enrich himself.

Kanyari appeared on the show and never looked remorseful at all. He said that he does not regret his actions and believes he broke no law by asking people to send him money for a miracle.

The preacher also promise that he will be back on TV very soon and said that he had reached a deal with NTV who will be airing his summons again after the expose.

This has angered former radio personality and workmate to Churchill at Classic 105, Ciku Muiruri, who has blasted the show host for bringing the controversial preacher to lie to Kenyans.

Ciku calls Kanyari a thief and wonders why Kenyans gathered for the show seemed to celebrated the preacher.

She said Churchill messed up by giving Kanyari a platform to lie to Kenyans and sell his contrived manifesto to Kenyans.

She said:

This is disturbing on so many levels. I can’t even watch the whole thing. Annoyed with the audience, with ‪#‎Churchillshow‬, @ntvkenya and all involved in this nonsense of celebrating and attempting to sanitise a con artiste. Go find all those idiots in Kamiti next and give them a medal.

 

The flourishing Hollywood actress became the talk of the world late last Month and even before the dust could settle on her, Lupita Nyong’o has found a way back to the spotlight again.

The Kenyan actress is featuring in yet another movie that is being shot at our backyard neighbor, Uganda. Dubbed ‘Queen of Katwe’, the movie is said to be the biggest film project to come out of the Pearl Of Africa since 2006 movie, ‘The Last King of Scotland’, which scooped an Oscar award.

Philip Onyancha send shivers and very cold chills down the spines of many in 2010 when he was finally nabbed after killing 19 women and sucked their blood.

The world was taken aback by this serial killer who even confessed to have targeted 100 of them but by the time he was caught red handed, he had managed 19. That’s no mean figure either.

Many wondered how and why he managed to do so without being caught. He led the police to various places where he had dumped the remains of his victims, shocking the country even more.

And five years down the line, Onyancha who was sentenced to 12 years in jail for rape and murder, finally confesses his heinous acts, reveals why and how he did it and what he thinks he will be in future.

Speaking to Citizen TV’s Lulu Hassan, Onyancha admits that indeed he killed 19 women but denies to have drunk their blood.

“I only came up with the idea of drinking their blood to blow up the whole thing. In fact I have never sucked any human blood in my life,” Onyancha who looks composed tells Lulu.

The serial killer goes on to narrate why he started the infamous mission, saying that as a child, a female guardian molested him sexually and this sparked his hatred for women. He therefore swore to kill to revenge.

“I was molested sexually by my female guardian when I was young,” Onyancha says.

Onyancha , who seems remorseful now, says that he regrets everything he did. He regrets having killed 19 women and children and says he cannot fathom what he was doing at that time.

He says that his actions are highly regrettable and asks for forgiveness from the victims’ relatives and friends and all Kenyans.

The serial killer says that he tried to get out of this horrible situation but every time of the day he tried he couldn’t.

How did he meet his victims?

“If we met on the road I greeted them and they could not resist me,” Onyancha says.

The serial killer is now a record keeper for the ailing inmates at the Kenyatta National Hospital and seems to have changed and sports a completely different look from the Onyancha we saw 5 years ago.

For a week or so, celebrated comedian and Kenya’s all-time top entertainer Daniel Ndambuki aka Churchill has been on the receiving end of backlash and criticism for what he has either said, done or posted on his social media platfroms.

It all started with the rape saga that involved Imenti Central MP Gideon Mwiti and a former journalist. The MP is being probed for the rape allegations engulfing him and Churchill weighed in the topic, controversially though.

His comments angered many who took to the social media to blast the comedian, prompting Churchill to tender a heartfelt apology. He rattled an exasperated nation.

And now the comedian is at it again after hosting controversial man of the cloth, Pastor Prophet, Doctor Victor Kanyari. Who does not know Kanyari? If you don’t, just get out of the jungle and start living with your fellow human beings.

On the Churchill show, KAnyari appeared glittering, healthier and full of himself despite the KTN expose that showed how swindled colossal sums of money from unknowing congregants.

He was not remorseful at all. In fact, Kanyari promised to continue with his Panda Mbegu scheme which saw him land a Range Rover Sport car and become one of the richest men of the cloth in Kenya.

Kanyari’s appearance on Churchill Show has, however, elicited some backlash from irate members of the public who are utterly disgusted by his antics. And Churchill is on the receiving end for this.

The latest to express her disappointment is Mbita MP Millie Mabona Odhiambo who has said that Churchill has continued to disappoint lately.

Millie is wondering why Churchill seemed to celebrate Kanyari who has continued to con Kenyans and steal from them. She said:

Meanwhile @Churchill live. Twice this week you have disappointed me. First by making a very unfortunate statement against an alleged rape victim and as if that was not enough, you have now started celebrating a corrupt pastor while Kenyans are purging the country of corruption. What are you smoking up there?

 

 

He is one of the most innovative Kenyans in as far as making money is concerned, Prophet Victor Kanyari has put the past behind him and promised to hit the screens again!

A form two dropout owning top of the class Range Rover and other exquisite rides is by far a great achievement that definitely wows many. Prophet Victor Kanyari may be an academic dwarf but he certainly stands out to be counted amongst the country’s millionaires.

Despite receiving a knockout blow by a KTN exposé that maimed his reputation as man of cloth, Kanyari has bounced back promising to soldier on with his ministry. The defiant preacher made his way to Churchill Show where he addressed an electrified audience confessing to most of the accusations that were leveled against him.

The controversial man of god turned out to be a drama king; they way he boasted around made the audience laugh louder than the comedians could make them.

“Napenda kushukuru wale wanapanda mbegu waendelee tu maana wananisaidia. Am a form two dropout, mi sikumaliza shule. Nilifika form two. Lakini licha kwamba nilifika form two, mungu amenisaidia niko na watu wananipenda na wananiamini na wanavumilia ujinga wangu.” Kanyari uttered.

He went on to reveal his plans of going back on air with his ministry. Kanyari also told Churchill he was in good term with Mohammed Ali; the man who exposed him.

Oh! I almost forgot; he maintained his innocence. He said he wasn’t swindling cash from his faithful or any other Kenyan for that matter. But of cause that’s absolutely true, guys voluntarily give him the cash!

“Churchill kama ningekua na makosa nimetendea wakenya, ningekua jela maana am not above the law” The Prophet emphasized.

Authorities are considering opening charges against Samuel Gitau, the Juja MCA who went missing for 8 days before being found and claimed he had been kidnapped.

Officers investigating the alleged kidnapping are not satisfied with the information the MCA has given them thus far and believe that Gitau is economical with information that can help them unravel the mystery behind his disappearance.

Though police are yet to disclose the charges they will press against the MCA, it is understood that they believe the whole incident was stage-managed to dupe the authorities.

Gitau disappeared on 7^th March this year when he left his home to the nearest ATM to withdraw money, never to come back.

He left his phone behind, something he had not done before and his car was founding outside his gate with the engines still running.

These are some of the things that make police believe Gitau is playing foul in the whole saga. He has also refused to record a statement with the police.

Gitau was found 8 days later and said he had been kidnapped and managed to jump out of the boot of the moving car of his kidnappers.

Ashnaam was arrested two weeks ago by the anti-terror police over allegations that he was compromising the security of one of the biggest media houses in the country by cloning social media accounts of its top journalists and using them to generate traffic for his website. 

 Details of the arrest of the 21 year old social media guru were aired on national Tv as footage of him in shackles made rounds on the interwebs the next day. We were wowed at the genius used for wrong use. Reports, reveal that Ashanaam was in custody for two weeks as the terror police went through his personal computer and gizmos for links to terrorism. 

He was taken to court on monday and has since been released after apologizing and settling it with the parties revolved. I saw him this morning  in town. His long hair is long gone. for the first time, he had worn a suit.

TV today has completely taken a new twist, with majority of those defining our screens being women of beauty and brains. Long gone are the days when it was purely male dominated. Today, and more so in days to come, TV will be taken over completely by female anchors.

I have every reason to say this. Many people would get bored after a short while when they realize their anchor on that craved prime time news is male. Recently a certain TV station tried paring two male anchors on their prime time news and believe it it was a flop of the month. I was in a friend’s house and I saw how she quickly switched stations. When I asked why, she said she loathed male anchors being paired together for top of the hour news. This was a lady remember.

This explains the relevance female anchors have on TV. But as this is the case, Kenyan TV station have very beautiful and well educated female anchors who have had a positive impact on how news reach the audience. Some are celebrated while others are getting what they don’t deserve.

Today we delve into those who should be talked about for all the good reasons but have not gotten that recognition.

Nancy Kacungira – KTN

In 2013, Daily Monitor, a Ugandan newspaper wrote a story about Kacungira saying: Like what comes out from within, her beauty is gentle too, no overwhelming features for good or bad reasons, just a layout that comes together to create a beautiful but unintimidating young woman. It is really easy to see why she, barely months on our screens anchoring news on NTV-Uganda, seems to have won over a number of viewers already. “She has an amazing voice, she is bold, very pretty and don’t get me started on her smiles. She is simply amazing.”

On this, the writer never lied. The paper had just spoken many people’s minds. Nancy no longer works for NTV-Uganda. She is now in Kenya, closer to us than before. Ever since joining KTN, Kacungira has wowed with her composed and confident appearance on cameras as she reads prime time news. The Ugandan is not shy either. She is soft spoken but tough and true.

She did not leave her beauty in Uganda either. She is one of the most beautiful ladies on screen. She just added some Ugandan beauty in Kenya after her countryman Joy Doreen Biira made her way into the country early on.

Nancy has brains too. She holds a masters degree in International Communication from Leeds University, UK. She has a first class as an undergraduate at Makerere University.

It is time Kenyans started giving Kacungira the attention she deserves.

Beatrice Gatonye – KBC

Beatrice just defines the state-owned broadcaster, KBC. The Darubini ya KBC anchor is one of the most beautiful ladies to ever grace our screens. She is photogenic, cool and lovely in front of cameras. Her voice rhymes well with her complexion. She is the face of KBC even as it struggles to keep pace with the private-owned media stations.

Beatrice attracts an audience that purposely tunes in to KBC to watch her present news with Bonie Musambi. On top of that, her command for the Swahili language is unsullied. Impeccable. Flawless. All those words you can use to describe it.

Funny enough, Beatrice is yet to receive the hype other anchors, even those who don’t deserve it, are getting. This is being unfair, literally. She needs our attention. Serious attention.

Kamene Goro – Ebru TV

Curvaceous. Beautiful.

Kamene Goro is the newest siren in town. It is unfortunate that I did not say this early enough. She is one of the few anchors who possess all the qualities a TV siren should have. Kamene has figure. Her complexion is not disappointing either. Her voice on TV is incredible.

Kamene recently celebrated her birthday and we landed some of her photos. Believe it, it is time we gave the likes of Vera Sidika and Huddah Monroe some blackout and lit our candles for this lady. Yes, Kamene Goro is incredibly talented. But how many people give her the attention she deserves? Unfortunate.

I guess with the switch to analogue broadcasting, we will get to see more of Kamene on Ebru TV.

Karen Knaust Karimi– K24

She joined K24 in early 2014 and Karen Knaust Karimi has been a constant attraction on the mediamax-owned TV station. Her beauty coupled with brains make her one of the hottest but less talked about TV sirens.

She brings life to K24 news at 9 and complements her co-host so well. Karen Kraust should arguably by now be among the TV girls making headlines in the country and beyond. Unfortunately, no one is giving her the attention she surely deserves.

Najma Ismail – KTN

For quite some time she was behind the scenes with a very captivating voice on radio as she read news on Kiss 100. Nobody at the moment knew Najma Ismail by name. We all recognized just her voice but since making her deputy on KTN a year ago, Najma has shown, glowing on TV like that proverbial morning star.

She is one of the beauties in a hijab with a talented voice and a good command of the English language. Najma makes TV lively and a thing to watch every time she steps into studio to present the KTN at 1 news. She is, however, unfortunately, yet to be celebrated like others. She deserves our recognition and hype.
