Catch The Legendary ‘Na Sisi’ Band Here Tomorrow. Hustle Free

Music can make or break a night out. Either revelers will go back with sore feet and still talk about the night weeks later or go home with grimaces on their face cursing why they even dressed up to begin with! The kawaida clubs usually have the same repeated, over-played, copied CD mix that you can actually ‘guess’ what will be played next. But Ladida Lounge is turning it up a notch with a Live Band tomorrow and every other Saturday.

Small recap; before the rise of discothèques and DJ-based dancefloors with recorded music (prior to the 1950s); live bands were the ubiquitous means of serving the dancefloor. Live Bands give you the experience of a lifetime and the pleasure of a performance all at once. Anything can happen to raise the excitement level!

Enough said. Tomorrow all roads will be leading to Ladida Lounde- formerly Escapades, located in Rongai. Ni Sisi Band will be performing live from 8pm till late.

Don’t miss it for nothing!

This Is What James Smart Had To Say About NTV’s Richard Chacha After Rumours That He Was Fired For Being Disabled

Richard Chacha was the most popular face on prime time news on NTV until 2012 when the most unfortunate incident happened to him and his colleagues, among them his boss Linus Kaikai.

The NTV crew was headed to Transmara to collect news and as they headed for the day’s assignment, the car they were travelling in and which Richard was driving overturned, leaving them with serious injuries.

For Chacha, this was the beginning of his woes as he emerged as the most hurt from the accident. He spent long time in hospital receiving treatment. Finally he left the hospital disabled. He was not the Chacha we so enjoyed seeing on screen.

Since the incident Richard has been out of the limelight until recently when rumour littered the air that the same Kaikai he was with when the accident occurred had decided to lay him off because he (Chacha) could not work.

Kenyans were taken aback by the unfortunate incident and took to the social media to air their discontent at the rumour.

It seems the rumour got to the doors of Chacha’s colleagues in the media industry who also expressed their worry at the unfortunate incident.

Among them is former NTV and KTN anchor James Smart who took to his twitter account to tell the world what he knows about Chacha. Smart worked with Chacha at NTV before leaving for KTN.

He said:

smart

Many Kenyans expressed their disgust at the news and called upon the reinstatement of Chacha with an immediate effect.

Chacha has since denied that he was sacked by NTV for being disabled. He said through his social media account that he still works with NTV.

Tanzanian Artiste Bashes and Calls Sauti Sol Unpalatable Names For Their Song Nerea

Sauti Sol is currently flying high with its latest release Nerea, a song that has elicited mixed reactions from across the country and beyond.

They made headlines last year when they released their Sura Yako song, a song which hit instantly and went on to be among their best ever.

Nerea seems to take the same direction despite some deeming it controversial and a bit convoluted.

Nerea has, however, greatly Tanzanian artiste Diana Kamara who has written to Sauti Sol to express her disgust at the song.

Kamara is demanding an apology from Sauti Sol for what she says is disparaging and down weighing Nyerere and Mandela in their song.

The two are respected African leaders who struggled to better the lives of Africans. They have since passed away.

In her letter, Diana demands that Sauti Sol redo the song and show some respect to  the fallen African heroes and also try to do research to know something before they go ahead and release songs.

kamara

Here is the letter that is wreaking havoc in the Kenyan confines:

Dear Sauti Sol,

Salaam,

I have heard about your work and fame for a long time. But it was until the Sura Yako song was popular that I did not really know your group. Still I don’t know your faces or names (if it counts in celebrity culture). You probably receive a lot of feedback and support from your fans. To be honest, I am neither your craziest nor average fan. And at this point I am thankful I am not your fan. I am writing to ask you to apologize to the African masses for misleading lyrics of your latest release, Nerea.

As a feminist first, I could have discussed the question of abortion, whether to allow it or not (thanks for making the discussion on abortion public). Or I may look at the positive image of African women you are trying to promote such Zenzile Miriam Makeba (an artist who was a political activist) and Wangari Maathai. But it would also have been of my interest to know why you want your child to be important as Lupita Nyong’o (whom I remember for having a dark complexion, naked on screen and an beauty idol for 2013)? Will you be disappointed if the new born is the opposite of Lupita: plump and light skinned? I am not muting my feminist activism, at this point there is something urgent and important.

I want to believe you juggled and tossed many names before shortlisting those you have mentioned in the song based on your knowledge of their legacies and the role model factor. I am glad that these two African names made it into the song: Nyerere and Mandela.

The aspirations you have that your unborn child may be Nyerere or Mandela are not at question. Except for the information on Nyerere and Mandela that makes me question and really like – really doubt – your knowledge of Africa and Africans. And considering that two of you are Journalistm graduates (The actuarial sciences and banking and accountancy graduates are not less guilty in this! And the featured artists too!), I thought it was a given thing to be curious and to get facts right.

You plead with Nerea not to abort because if the child is born Nyerere he will lead Tanzania (…aongoze Tanzania)… If not, the child may be Mandela, the redeemer of Africa (… mkombozi wa Afrika). Really? Like serious?

Much as we all agree that the two are giants in African history, we also can’t weigh their legacies. All the same we cannot mislead generations because of this outmost negligence (Don’t make me curse in writing!).

Wallahi! I don’t believe the lyrics were written, revised, recorded and the video made without the many people involved in production noticing that it was the likes of Nyerere who liberated Africa and Mandela who led South Africa in struggles against Apartheid (at the end of it) and later became the first black president (with the support of Nyerere and other Frontline leaders and states) of the republic.

For a moment I will forget you are graduates and say if they did not teach you this in school, you could not even do a simple internet survey (Like I just search Sauti Sol on the internet today) before you sang about these legendaries? I would take time to explain in details, with examples, about Nyerere and Mandela. But since you did not do your homework, at least Google that now!

I am not blaming you (I am not freeing you of the offence to history either). Mandela is more popular than Nyerere. My Microsoft Word 2007 doesn’t know Nyerere. It underlines his name in red and gives me these possible other words: Miserere, Nye ere and Nearer yet it knows Mandela. Athletes and actors who went to South Africa would stop by at Mandela’s house for a chit chat and (most likely) a photo. I am still trying to find one Google image of Nyerere with a Superstar. When Mandela died Rihanna, Tyra Banks and John Legend tweeted. Who was not mourning?

Don’t you find it suspicious that countries that had labeled him a terrorist like Al Shabab three decades ago or so were the loudest mourners? Or of all the African fathers and mothers of the African nation, he is the one given big time promotion in the West? If you don’t find it doubtful, I hold on to my conspiracy theory.

Mandela’s popularity should not at any instance downweigh the huge contribution of Nyerere’s contribution to liberation of Africa in theory and practice. Popular is not a synonym for significant (you know this better as musicians).

When I watched the video on earlier this afternoon on YouTube views were 448,841 and at this moment (about three and a half hours later) 450, 841. This makes me tremble in fear of how many people will have been misled by the song and believed it, let’s say by June.

On that note, I write to demand that you apologise to the world for diminishing the legacy of Nyerere and adding salt to Mandela’s story.

(I wish you were my brothers in arms)

(And I am not yours)

Lupita Nyong’o Is No Longer The World’s Most Beautiful Woman. See Who Replaced Her

Lupita Nyong’o slayed last year, The 12 Years A Slave actress did not only bag an Oscar last year, but was also named ‘People’s Most Beautiful Woman.’

A huge feat because she was proof that an African woman in all her grace, who keeps her clothes on, rocks her natural wee-fro and is scandal free could be celebrated. Also she became the third black woman to be named People’s “Most Beautiful” person of the year, a slot that had been occupied by Halle Berry in 2003 and Beyonce in 2012. It does not get any better than getting recognized alongside the greats.

Beauty Aside, You Will Be Surprised To Learn What Nazizi Shares In Common With Her Sister

Veteran hip hop songbird Nazizi Hirji has been on the headlines lately for all the good reasons. Everything aside, Nazizi has stunned everyone with how she has managed to transform herself into a totally different person, sporting a completely different look.

She was a bit chubby and dreadlocked a few months ago, something that she was so synonymous with and which for long periods of time defined the veteran singer.

Well, today, Nazizi stuns more than anyone could imagine.

Away from that, the lass has a beauty sister, a sister who to some extent we tend to believe is the inspiration behind the singer’s transformation.

Oh boy, this people look alike!

Away from their beauty, Nazizi has shared a photo of herself with her sister and it is from here that something has manifested itself.

They share not only the complexion and the beauty but also a tattoo inscribed on their right arms. The tattoo on Nazizi’s hand is the very same her sister is having on her hand.

Ghafla Kenya has tried to reach out to Nazizi to get the meaning of the tattoo but every effort we made failed.

Was this done deliberately for us to notice the similarity? Well, as we contemplate on this and the meaning behind it, have a glimpse of what Nazizi shared:

Top 5 Most Beautiful TV Sirens Who Are Yet To Settle Down As Wives

It would be very fair to say that for one to make their way to the Kenyan media industry and specifically TV she must be very beautiful. This is what in media they call photogenic. In blogging we call them sirens. You must really scream with beauty like that firefighter siren to land a lucrative job with a top TV station in Kenya.

This is the case as Kenyan TV stations are full of some of the most beautiful and good looking ladies. They are ladies with beauty and brains in equal measure. Prime time news is not news without these very beautiful face seated next to this cool looking gentleman ready to read to you what you missed in the course of the day as you purposed to meet the desires of your boss somewhere.

Many of us try to beat traffic jams and sometimes hurl insults at the drivers and makangas for delaying us with petty stops because we want to get home early enough to see what Janet Mbugua, Betty Kyallo, Victoria Rubadiri, etc have for us…and probably what they have donned for the evening for team mafisi.

But among these gorgeous women of substance, some are very single or let’s just say they haven’t settled down as people’s wives despite being absolutely gorgeous. Ghafla Kenya looks into some of the most beautiful women on Kenyan TV who are yet marry and settle down as wives. Ignore the fact that so and so has a kid with so and so. Yes they may but they are not wives yet.

Victoria Rubadiri – NTV

rubadiri

She made headlines when she made her debut at NTV with a wonderful accent that underlined her profile. Accent aside, Victoria turned out to be one of the most beautiful faces on NTV as she teamed up with Larry Madowo and others to bring us news at nine.

Victoria is a proud mother to a very beautiful daughter she brought to this world when she was a first year student in the US. Her story is an inspiring one. At some point she contemplated aborting her daughter to pursue her studies. But she changed her mind when her parents stood by her.

Even though she admits she is in constant contact with the father to her daughter, Victoria is yet to get married. She is a single mother.

Betty Kyallo – KTN

betty

Arguably the most talented and photogenic news anchor at KTN, Betty Kyallo remains top of her game with beauty permanently inscribed in her.

Fiancée to NTV’s investigative reporter Dennis Okari, Betty has a beautiful daughter with the man she has never shied away from declaring she loves.

Betty would, however, tell you that she is yet to officially marry Dennis Okari. They are just fiancés and you should take it that way. Dennis is yet to put a ring on her finger.

Beatrice Gatonye – KBC

Beatrice 2

If you want to look for a beautiful face at the state-owned broadcaster, someone will definitely direct you to one Beatrice Gatonye. The Swahili news anchor remains the most beautiful woman along Harry Thuku Road and her looks are hard to ignore.

Her voice too on TV is greatly incredible. Talented and attractive, Beatrice adds value to the corporation, giving it some lifeline even when it is gradually succumbing to competition and average management.

But behind the beautiful face and voice, Beatrice is a single woman, single in the sense that she is yet to settle down as someone’s husband.

I am contemplating making a move despite the rumour that she might get married in the course of this year. She also has a son.

Janet Mbugua – Citizen TV

janet

Hold on. Who said Janet is married to Edu Ndichu? If this is what you’ve been told before, ignore it, sit back and hear this from me. Janet is yet to marry Eddie Ndichu. I mean officially.

What you heard was probably the traditional ceremony that the two held as they make steps towards their official wedding that is slated for later this month.

Janet is Citizen TV’s gem and the news that she is engaged to the banker broke many an admirer’s heart. But you have no option and I don’t think despite the fact that she is yet to marry you will get any chance in her life.

Sophia Wanuna – KTN

wanuna

Oh boy! Where does KTN get these women? Another very beautiful siren that screams with beauty every morning, Sophia Wanuna not only captivates but also attracts big time.

She smiles to kill. The killer smile is, however, yet to land in someone’s house as Sophia is very ‘single’. The TV siren is yet to marry someone. So potential suitors there is some hope here.

Make that maiden move.

Journalist Who Authored President Uhuru’s Biography Is A Serial Con (Evidence)

Irungu Ithatiah made headlines late last year when he came out with a book Hard Tackle, a book that gives an insight into President Uhuru’s life ever since he was conceived and born 52 years ago.

When I first heard this story close to a month ago from my friend, a thought it was those usual pranks he draws on me. This was after I landed this book in his shelves and asked him where he got it.

He told me that he was part of this group that went for an interview in some place in Lavington where they were required to buy this book as part of the interview.

The book retailed at KES 299 and Irungu told them that they were to read the book because questions for the next interview would come from this book.

irungu ithatiah

Irungu Ithatiah, author of Hard Tackle

So the many jobless Kenyans bought the book. They wanted a job. But as my friend told me, he was never contacted for the next interview. That is all. He had the book.

So I borrowed this book to read and know what Irungu Ithatiah wanted these job seekers to know about the book.

Barely had I reached chapter 5 of the book than I saw this story running on Citizen TV. I for the first time learnt that my friend was not joking.

The conned Kenyans who spoke to Citizen narrated how Irungu conned them with promises of a job only for the former journalist to vanish into thin air.

He is said to have rented an office in Lavington but since he conned the youth, Irungu has been at large.

Here is what they told Citizen TV last evening:

Meet The Hottest Dude On CNN That Is Giving The Sultry Pierra Makena Sleepless Nights (Photos)

The finest female mix whiz in the 254, DJ Pierra Makena, has her eyes set on the most handsome CNN anchor on screen, she already hanged out with him in case you were wondering.

MC Jessy could be flirting with Pierra Mac in public but it’s not him that makes her heart skip a beat, not at all.

See also: Pierra Makena And MC Jessy, Are These Two Dating? Their Recent Activities Suggest So

Pierra Mac is no doubt an eye-candy, I have seen and heard lots of men openly salivating for her so that just seals it.

The man that is giving her sleepless nights is equally attractive, ladies’ magnet. Errol Barnett, an anchor at CNN, is the dude that Pierra has her eyes on.

If you like catching up with CNN then you can recall seeing his face from award-winning cultural affairs program ‘Inside Africa’. He used to host the show before venturing to news anchoring.

ban.jpg

Pierra revealed she has undying crush for the CNN anchor, she says Barnett was the reason why she used to glue her eyes on television.

Unlike many people who only salivate for guys they have never meet, Pierra has already rubbed shoulders with the CNN anchor.

They looked so lovely together, they should just get married already!

Wangechi Opens Up About the Tragic Road Accident That Almost Claimed Her Life Last Year

Last year, rapper Wangechi was involved in a tragic road accident that claimed the life of her friend Tionna Wangechi and left her and her friend Natalie Tewa injured.

Earlier this year Wangechi released a song collaborating with Karun (formerly of Camp Mulla) followed by her ongoing series of live studio recordings “Wangechi Sessions”.

Wangechi took a long time before she got back to writing and recording music until she felt it was time to open up and express herself in a song. Gladly she was ready and she recorded her first song after the unfortunate life event she had last year.

Coming back strong and wiser she recorded “Cardiac Arrest” which she terms as a redemption song, a song she feels like opened up her heart from what she has always wanted to say after the accident. Serving also as a dedication to the friend she lost in the accident they had.

Re-introducing Sugar, The Lady That Has Kwatchuad Phoenix Records Brainchild Brian Okemo’s Heart

After 7 years of dating, hip hop guru Brian Okemo of Phoenix Records finally made a true woman out of Sugar. Now any hip hop head knows enough about Brian, but not Sugar. So beautiful people, pull up a chair and I’ll take you through Sugar’s life journey.

Her life

Her vocals developed well as her interest increased and after high school she began pursuing her dream to sing professionally.

Through college, Sugar mostly worked as a BGV for Harry Kimani as time did not allow her to pursue a solo carrier. Celebrated Nation FM Host Blasts Kenyans For Hypocrisy Following Turkana Killings

Kenya has continued to experience unnecessary and unwarranted killings across its borders. After the Garissa killngs by terrorists, North Eastern Kenya and especially parts ofTurkana and Samburu regions are the latest areas locked by internal strife where hundreds of residents have been butchered mercilessly over what is believed to be fight for natural resources.

The killings have left Kenyans raging with anger and rage, demanding immediate action from the government over the same.

Celebrated radio personality Angela Angwenyi has however taken issue with the authorities and a section of Kenyans who are more of hypocrites.

According to Angela, the government has failed to deal with the North-Eastern crisis the same way it does when there are killings in urban areas.

This has greatly angered the host who has demanded that the Turkana killings be addressed with the same magnitude the other killings in the country have been addressed.

Angela particularly lamented that even small children are not spared in the latest banditry attacks that have left many dead and others fleeing for their lives.

She shared this viral photo of a child abandoned by her parents after they fled the attacks and demanded that immediate action be taken to stop the killings.

Ghafla Exclusive: Nation Media Fires More People From NTV

Media shake-ups happen from time to time. But nothing quite beats what went down in 2013.

Mediamax Network Limited started off by discharging at least 73 journalists drawn from its radio and TV divisions and soon after Radio Africa Group’s Kiss TV trimmed down most of their employees. Then came the mass firing at Nation Media Group where many were sent packing after an audacious restructuring move.

News reaching us is that the dreaded mass firing at Nation Media is back, and a few have been sacked mainly from the Broadcasting Dept .According to our source those fired were let go for being ‘redundant.’

6 Studio technical operators, 2 cameramen (including the head of NTV cameramen) 2 reporters and 2 News Directors are among those who have been axed.

This sad incident comes after the CEO promised the whole department face to face during a meeting that not a single job will be lost because of the transition. This was during the infamous digital switch off.

This move comes after several shows on both NT and Qtv have been cancelled including the very popular Pendo.

Robert Alai Causes Upheaval On The Internet After Posting This Gut-Wrenching Photo

Controversial whistle blower, Robert Alai, is once again at loggerheads with Kenyans after he posted a vexatious photo on the internet.

It’s not unusual for Kenyans to vent their rage at Robert Alai, as a matter of fact, the blogger seems to be immune from all the insults thrown at him; he is simply undeterred in his quest of dispatching information without taking into consideration the impact on its intended audience.

It’s not as if Alai directly insulted anyone, he just flouted media ethics and this is why he landed in a pit of hell fire.

Kenyans on Facebook (KOF) didn’t care whether the notorious blogger was doing a noble deed, they just unleashed their tantrums at him.

Alai was informing folks on social media about the brutal murder of a manager in charge of internal audit at Nakumatt supermarket when he got trolled.

He posted graphic photo of the slain manager and this is what vexed some people who then decided to school him on ethics in media.

Check out the photo Alai posted and comments from Kenyans on the next page:

Prophet Owuor’s Healing Would Render Me Jobless, Disability Body Chairman Reveals

Prophet David Edward Owuor has been one of the most revered spiritual leaders in the continent with a massive following and a number of congregants and believers who give him a triumphant entry every time he holds crusades, almost synonymous to that given to Jesus when he was entering Jerusalem on a donkey.

Apart from the triumphant entries, Prophet Owuor is also known for his miracles, particularly those of healing the sick among them the disabled.

However, as many crave and get the healing, one man shocked a gathering when he said that he has rejected prophet Owuor’s healing several times because he fears losing his job.

Dr. David Ole Sankok who is the chairman of the National Council of Persons With Disabilities (NCPWD), shocked a gathering in Thika when he revealed that he has refused to attend Prophet Owuor’s healing services because as a disabled person, he does not pay taxes and that he was employed because he is disabled.

Dr. Sankok is a victim of a wrong diagnosis by a doctor who left him crippled.

According to him, he is more like David Rudisha, Messi and Ronaldo who earn from their feet.

Cardinal Otunga High School Closed Indefinately After A Series Of Fires Burn Down Dormitories. These Photos From The Tragedy Will Shock You.

Tall tales are told of mysteries, and in as much as science tries to explain the mysteries, we are left a little more confounded than we were when it happened. We can call them Coincidences if we may, or we can chose to call them miracles, Just like a Mosque was the only thing that was left standing in Aceh,Indonesia last December after a Tsunami, just like a Japanese pagoda remained put after being nuked, just like Mayan temples never collapse during an Earthquake when the rest of Mexico and Guatemala are in shambles… catch the drift?

Yesterday, Cardinal Otunga high school was closed down indefinitely after a series of fires ravaged  3 dormitories of a school that has been the epitome of schooling in Kisii. Before closure, the school has been on the news for the past years for fire incidences that the school administration has blamed on arson. The School will remain closed as the police carry out their investigations.

However, it is these images that caused a stir on the internet.

This Is Why The Late Mutula Kilonzo Would Beg To Die Again If He Rose Today

It was early April when a popular weekly paper revealed that fresh wrangles were rocking the late Makueni Senator’s family over his Kwa Kyelu ranch.

Mutula Kilonzo Jnr, son to the late senator and who inherited the seat as Makueni Senator, accused his step-mother and second wife to the late Senator, Nduku Kilonzo, of starving the lions and cheetahs in the Kwa Kyelu Ranch.

Mutula told the Nairobian that Nduku was not feeding the lions and that they were starving and were on the brink of death.

He went ahead to claim that if his father rose today who would beg to die again after seeing the condition the animals were in.

Nduku vehemently denied the accusations and said that Jnr’s was a personal vendetta directed at her wrongly and that the lions were well taken care of.

                     Mutula Kilonzo Jnr

It is, however, emerging now that KWS has taken custody of the animals after confirming that indeed they were starving because they were not fed.

A KWS official has told the Nairobian that after visiting the ranch, it was discovered that the three lions and two cheetahs that Mutula kept are starving and that they had to take them away to take good care of them.

He also revealed that the licence that the late Mutula had been issued with to own the animals has since expired and no one from his family has applied for renewal. This means the ranch is on the verge of extinction.

Family wrangles and neglect are the reasons behind this unfortunate incident.

Kidero Spits On Luhyas With His Ridiculous Move #MluhyaNiKuku

Nairobi Governor, Dr. Evans Kidero, has pulled a shocker that has left Nairobians cursing him, his move is another nail in the coffin of his bid to run for the gubernatorial seat come 2017.

Is it just that Kidero loves it when people fry his behinds or is it just a case of unremitting bad luck? It seems everything the embattled Governor does somehow ends up rubbing his electorates the wrong way.

What he did this time round will hurt our brothers from Western Kenya the most, banning ‘illegal’ slaughtering of ‘Ingoho’ in the city will DEFINITELY earn you an express ticket into the ring for a vicious fist fight with Luhyas.

Kidero has banned ‘off the books’ slaughtering of poultry in the city, his argument is to put Cholera on check. Beware, if you want to behead your kakuku better rush to the nearest slaughter house or you will face the music. Oh! This applies to vendors.

The Governor dispatched his troops from the Veterinary department to arrest all venders slaughtering poultry ‘illegally’.

Poor chicken venders of Burma market felt Kidero’s wrath after they were caught selling their birds. Kidero is advising Nairobians to buy poultry products that has been approved and stamped!

The return of What’s Up Africa, the popular weekly satire segment combined with a new series Hooked examining the illegal drugs trade, highlight the BBC’s ongoing commitment to African audiences.

Following on from the success of the first series, What’s Up Africa returns to provide digitally-connected Africans a fresh take on the news on BBC World News, Africa partner stations and social media.

Nigerian-born vlogger and presenter IkennaAzuike kicks off the series by looking at the theme of democracy. The new 7 part series, created especially for the BBC, is a co-production between the BBC and Dutch media organisation, RNW.

Azuike says: “I am very excited about the new season of What’s Up Africa. I’m looking forward to ruffling a few feathers! We’ll be kicking off the series with a comparison of the Nigerian and British elections and asking – just what can the West learn from Africa? The answers will, I hope, surprise you.”

Hooked is a new five part series highlighting the devastating effects of drug trafficking afflicting the West African country of Guinea Bissau. The series, produced by the BBC’s Naomi Scherbel-Ball, was created in partnership with Nigerian cartoonist Tayo Fatunla and writer Benjamin Dix. Surely, that’s pushing the boundaries of what current affairs can look like on television. We look forward to hearing reactions from our audiences across the continent!”

The BBC’s long standing relationship with the continent is based on its respect as a trusted source of news.  Over the years the organisation has developed a team of reporters bringing to the global audience the latest developments from around the continent: Nigeria’s historic elections, deadly attacks on Garissa University College in Kenya, the constitutional crisis in Burundi and the continent’s footballing bonanzathat is the Africa Cup of Nations.
