Central Bank Governor Nominee Disturbs MPs And Kenyan Ladies For Being Single At 54

A parliamentary committee probing nominees for the vacant posts in Central Bank were surprised when nominee for CBK governor told them he is still single at 54 years.

The MPs then steered away from much important things to probe the nominee further on why he is not married.

Kitutu Chache North MP, Jimmy Nuru Angwenyi, went even further to offer him a wife, after believing that a man of his age should not be single.

ptrick njoroge

Dr. Patrick Ngugi Njoroge

Dr. Patrick Njoroge simply said he is single by choice and has always felt comfortable by remaining single.

What, however, stunned the country is the manner in which the legislators ignored important issues concerning the central bank and Kenyans and went on to dig deep into the personal life of the nominee.

Kenyan ladies were not left behind either. Every single and ripe lady now wants the nominee’s hand in marriage.

Some Kenyans have even gone ahead to start a campaign to find the nominee a wife.

Teacher Wanjiku Causes The Internet To Come To An Abrupt Standstill With Her Eye Opener, Umuhimu Wa ‘Mti’ (Men’s Fundamentals)

Teacher Wanjiku may not be on Churchill Show but she is surely enjoying more attention than most comedians gracing the comic show. Her recent jest has gone viral online!

Last week, the whole country turned eyes to Nyeri County where 25-year-old Ms Valentine savagely attacked her beau’s private parts.

Following the horrifying incident in Nyeri, Teacher Wanjiku decided to school fellow ladies on the importance of a man’s machine.

Of course she didn’t put things open for every Tom, Dick and Harry to grasp, she used metaphor and euphemism to spread her message.

Teacher Wanjiku recoded a six minute clip dubbed ‘Umuhimu Wa Mti (Nyeri) which she used to send her message to ladies chopping off men’s genitals.

She gave examples of different types of ‘miti’ and explained their usefulness. She applied her sense of humor while explaining herself.

The video has already garnered over 15,600 views on YouTube yet it was only uploaded on Monday. Majority of the comments posted were from men, all heaping praise for Teacher Wanjiku for ‘standing with them.’

Crossover 101’s Faith Muturi Stuns The Social Media With Wondrous Curves (Photo)

She is not that noisy as many TV sirens we have around. Introverted would the best term one could use to describe Faith Muturi. One would argue it is because she saw the light early enough but if there is a person who would explain who Faith Muturi really is then we leave that to her family members.

However, this time round the Crossover 101 host has stunned the social with her noisy curves that got tongues wagging. Who knew this woman was this blessed?

Forget the long open dresses she uses to hide her curvaceous behinds, the hips and of course the posterior. This time round Faith has opted to go tight and blue.

You know how a tight blue dress would bring out someone? Well, you gotta see this and confirm what I am talking about:

Al Jazeera To Reap Big From The Kenyan Exposé That Sent Shockwaves Across The World

Sometimes in December last year, Doha-based international broadcaster, Aljazeera, ran an investigative piece that drew attention from all quarters.

Al Jazeera’s exposé on killer Kenyan cops went viral the moment it hit the screens. Kenyans were perplexed by how cops were executing extrajudicial killings.

Even though Aljazeera was just exposing the rot within the country’s law enforcement apparatus, the government said the exposé was meant to dent the reputation of Kenya.

The government then responded by threatened to sue Al Jazeera for what it termed as malicious and false information that was aimed at escalating further the already volatile level of security in the country.

While the dust settled on the exposé, Al Jazeera is set to reap from it. The station has been nominated for seven One World Media Awards and the Kenyan exposé was among the investigative pieces that earned Al Jazeera a nomination slot.

Below are the categories which Al Jazeera’s has been nominated for their investigative pieces:

Television Award

In Inside Kenya’s Death Squads, officers from four units of Kenya’s counter-terrorism strategy admitted the police assassinate suspects on government orders. According to one officer, police eliminations could run into the hundreds every year. President Uhuru Kenyatta and National Security Council members denied running an extrajudicial killing programme.

Corruption Reporting

In Africa Investigates: Uganda’s Temple of Injustice, Ugandan journalist Emmanuel Mutaizibwa led a team of reporters who went undercover inside Uganda’s court system to reveal the price of justice, exposing a chain of corrupting that is rotting the country’s judiciary to its core.

Documentary Award

Miners Shot Down, directed by South African Rehad Desai, screened on Al Jazeera on the two-year anniversary of the Marikana massacre it investigates. In August 2012, mineworkers in Lonmin, one of South Africa’s biggest platinum mines, began a wildcat strike for better wages. Six days into the strike, the police used live ammunition to brutally suppress the strike, killing 34 and injuring many more. The police insisted that they shot in self-defense, but Miners Shot Down tells a different story.

Digital Media Award

Pirate Fishing is a groundbreaking gamification of current affairs, which allowed gamers to become an Al Jazeera journalist, gathering evidence and notes to build a case to expose the mult-million dollar illegal fishing trade in Sierra Leone. Pirate Fishing was based on a People & Power report by Juliana Ruhfus. Women’s Rights in Africa Award

Al Jazeera has two nominations in the Woman’s Rights in Africa category, for Rosa Rogers’ Casablanca Calling and for Jessica Vale’s Small Small Thing: The Olivia Zinnah Story.

New Voice Award

Al Jazeera America’s Matt Sandy is nominated for the New Voice Award for a young filmmaker or journalist working in any medium who has made a substantial contribution to international journalism during the year.

Did Diamond Just Buy A Lamborghini? (Photo)

Diamond has set the standards in East Africa with his catchy Bongo Flava tunes and collaborations with the who-is-who in the African music scene.

And he could also be setting the standards for high-end automobiles if his latest Instagram post is to be trusted.

The ‘Number One’ artiste poses in silver Lamborghini Gallardo a high performance car known as a top fuel guzzler with impressible horse power and of course costs a pretty penny.

This Is Why Umoinner Buses Are back In The News Again (Photos)

Two years ago,Umoinner Sacco was in the news after one of their buses claimed 13 lives after getting crushed by a train.

This was despite the passengers’ pleas for the driver to stop speeding due to the danger of an oncoming train. Now the Sacco is back in the news after an incident in one of their buses.

ump_onner_cover.jpg

We have heard of people who have been robbed in a matatu and cannot explain how that happened. One moment they are just chilling in a matatu the next moment your laptop disappears mysteriously.

But rarely are this kind of crime captured on camera, this poor lady was drugged in an Umoinner bus but woke up looking dazed and confused, seemingly unaware of where she was and what happened.

This is according to Robert Alai who also shared these photos of the victim in a bid to caution other PSV users:

Juicy Gossip! DP Ruto Raises Eyebrows With His Plan To Replicate What Obama Did On Twitter

The Deputy President has decided to walk the Obama way and he sparked an interesting chitchat on social media with his plan.

Kenya’s second in command is among the county’s few politicians who are active on social networking platforms.

Even though it’s widely known Ruto doesn’t personally manages his social media accounts (there is no evidence to prove this), the people he has employed to run his accounts are getting offended by itchy comments Kenyans have been bombarding them with.

It’s because of this reason that Ruto’s social media handlers are said to be planning to follow US President style of blocking all those who use abusive language against him.

The DP boasts of having over a half million followers on twitter. His alleged involvement in Langata Primary School land grabbing scandal vexed Kenyans who took to the social media to spew their tantrums at him.

KOT led the online onslaught against baba Ngina’s second in command. Ruto’s social media handlers are now whispered to be planning to curb such kind of attacks from the likes of KOT by blocking all haters.

Mother-In-Law Actress ‘Olive’ has this To say About Her ‘Father’ after Their Very Public Fight

Father-daughter fights are uncommon due to the fact that fathers have a generally nonviolent, competition-free relationship with their daughters.

But sometimes things change and fathers lock horns with their daughters.
Just like the Olive-Charlie an altercation that went down last Sunday on the latest episode of ‘Mother-In-Law.

Ida Wanyoike’s Character olive is known for her mischief but she upped the ante on her mischief to borderline cruelty after she destroyed her cousin’s Angie cake and tore her books. This behavior really irked the father who decided to ‘check her’ but instead of being remorseful she resorted to blackmail and taunts.
Her father then threatened to beat the living daylights out of her after tossing her on the bed, but resorted to punishing her.

Olive and Charlie may have fought in mother in law, but in real life, Idah confesses that she has great admiration for Patrick, her onscreen father:

oketch_id.jpg

I’d post this as #mcm coz its monday … but nikkah … you are my father. Something is wrong with that hashtag.lol
This guy is the big brother i never had. Too amazing … Great mentor … Great friend … My dad #friendsforkeeps

Corazon’s Big Assets Cannot Be Contained In This Tiny Bikini. They Threaten To Spill Out (Photos)

Its common knowledge that Corazon Kwamboka is endowed, dare I say that she has the best body in Kenya.

She sure knows how to look good in a bikini and  is never shy of sharing photos of her curvy body some of them extremely risqué  that leave the men yearning for more .

Janet Mbugua Shares A Make-Up Free Photo…Eddie Ndichu Is A Lucky Man

From the snow white face make up and bright  crimson lips of the Geisha’s,  to the beautiful white dots in Africa, to ceruse, a mixture of white lead and vinegar in the Elizabethan times, make up has been part and parcel of women’s lives for ages.

And although make-up has advanced with manufactures getting rid of lead in the products, make up is still as much popular as it was back in the day. Just take a walk in town and you will bump into about 3 make up shops in the same periphery. A lot of Kenyans use make-up nowadays judging from the increasing number made-up faces on the streets and media girls are no different.

We are used to seeing Janet Mbugua in make-up and today she revealed her real look writing “Good morning lovies! #MakeUpFree (but #FilterStrong! ) Still trying to get used to this weave, but have to say I miss my hair! Counting down the weeks before I can have my mane back! Seen here just a few hours before I walked down the aisle in May. a little #MemoryShare. Have a lovely Tuesday all! ”

Feeling Guilty! Corazon Kwamboka Talks About The ‘Sponsor’ Thing That Saw Huddah Monroe and Joe Muchiri Tear Into Each Other

Corazon Kwamboka has sent a cautionary message to haters as she is flying across the globe in pursuit of pleasure.

The ‘sponsor’ thing sprang up when Huddah Monroe and and Capital FM’s Joe Muchuri decided to take their brawl to public sphere.

See also: Huddah Monroe Savagely Attacks Capital FM’s Joe Muchiri…What She Told Him is Just Unmentionable

A sponsor, according to Joe Muchiri, is an old rich folk who finances activities of a socialite(s) in exchange for sexual favors.

With Corazon out there gallivanting, people were also saying her trip to Dubai and Miami were financed by a sponsor.

But you can’t blame guys for speculating, Corazon is staying in some ritzy resort on Miami beach. A night at those kinds of hotels are damn expensive.

There is no way the socialite could foot the bill plus the expensive air tickets on her on and she has no job. Oh sorry! She has a job .

Anyway, Corazon says just because people see ladies holding hands with some ageing Mzungu doesn’t necessarily mean the mzee is a sponsor.

She adds that folks shouldn’t attack her for her freely expressing her opinion.

coraa.jpg

When I look at this picture I see a black woman and an old white man, I see a woman taking care of an elderly person, maybe that’s her job, maybe it’s a relative, clearly the guy is sickly or too old( from the diaper) maybe the girl is just being compassionate and just lending a helping hand… But other people see a sponsor! So a girl who was probably doing good or trying to earn extra cash will be attacked for nothing.. may God grant us an insight to see good in everything… Sasa msiniattack, I am just a lady who likes to speak out her opinion.. And who tries give everybody the benefit of doubt. Mnisamehe tu

Shocking Photos Of Cattle Thieves Feeding On Grass After A Witchdoctor Intervened!

Thieves thieves thieves! It is one of the most dreaded words in the 254, be it a spoon thief, a thong thief or a robber. No one would want to come by a thief and in most cases when they are nabbed; they are not given a second chance.

But in Molo, instead of the usual beating up of the thieves, services of a witchdoctor were sought and believe it the witchdoctor never disappointed.

The thieves who had given residents sleepless nights started eating grass after a number of suspects were forced to drink the witchdoctor’s concoction.

The concoction separated the thieves from the rest and this is when they started feeding on grass and narrating how they have terrorized residents with their unwanted acts.

Here is a photo of the thieves eating grass:

Alfred Mutua’s Wife Steals The Show Again! You Wont Believe What She Did In Front Of DP William Ruto (Photos)

Machakos County Governor Dr. Alfred Mutua is not a man who takes chances. He knows what he wants and could do anything to get it. And of course his choices are always measured and up to date. He does not fumble. He is careful and above all, has taste.

How else you would describe him is up to you.

We all know what he has done for his county if records are anything to go by. He is the envy of every governor in Kenya today. He topples everyone to the best performing governor among the 47. And remember he has steered clear of opposition politics and chose to work with the national government.

That aside, we all know Mutua’s better half. She has been in the limelight before, though not regularly. However, when she decides to stun, she does it fashionably and with vigor and verve.

She has never flinched from showing what her mama gave her and of course that curvaceous body is every woman’s dream.

And today was no different from the rest of the days she has stunned with her beauty. If at all there is any difference, then she looked even more glamorous than before.

A well contoured body got every person present in the event that went down early today in Machakos, and which DP Ruto attended, turning necks to see God’s true creation.

Beautiful and gorgeous are the two words that can describe this lady. And remember it happened before DP Ruto.

Many words will water down the taste of what happened in Masaku. Sit back and enjoy these very uplifting photos:

There is no denying Elizabeth Marami is a thirst trap for the infamous Team Mafisi. But her beauty isn’t the reason why everyone is talking about her.

She rocks a dark blue trousers, white shirt and black shoes when she is on duty. At only 26, Elizabeth Marami is the first female marine pilot in the country.

In simpler time, Marami’s duty involves maneuvering ships through dangerous or congested waters till they dock at the port.

But steering ships isn’t the only profession Marami practices, she is also a fashion blogger. You can bet she dresses to kill!

The 26-year-old became the first marine pilot after she endured a five year long intensive marine training in Alexandria, Egypt.

She has caught the attention of many including the head of state, Uhuru Kenyatta, who rubbed shoulders with her during women empowerment summit at KICC.

But the President isn’t the only public figure who was wowed by Marami’s awesome accomplishment, celebrities too have been waxing lyrical about her as well.

Celebs like Brenda Wairimu have been sharing her inspirational story with their fans on social networking platforms.

Larry Madowo Fires Shots at NTV’s Competitors. The will Definitely Ruffle A Lot of Feathers

You know him as the host of ‘The Trend’ on NTV, a show that has captured the heart of Nairobi with its controversial host, fascinating topics and interesting guests.

But away from The Trend Larry also dabbles in writing and often pours his thoughts in the  Front Row Column on the Daily Nation . Today’s topic tackles a serious issue ‘the copy-cating culture ‘that plagues us.

Even the introduction to the article on Facebook hints that the contents will be juicy as Larry Writes “I called out our competitors for blatant copy pasting and killing creativity. But my editors removed the names and softened the sting. My DAILY NATION ‪#‎FrontRow‬ column today.”

The article itself was quite a read .Here is an excerpt “We always assumed that people watched #theTrend to be ironic, considering how terrible a format it was. Nobody learned anything useful and we tried every possible way to get cancelled, including almost burning up the studio one time.

They rewarded our trainwreck of a show with an extra hour of airtime, maybe because it ran so late on Friday nights that none of our bosses had really every watched it!

Time well wasted, we say all the time and make no effort to do a serious show. So you can imagine our surprise when almost all the other TV stations in the country came up with their own versions of #theTrend, some on the same time slot and based on the same central idea.”

An article that has resonated well with A big part of the audience who had this to say :

2035 •

I agree with you on copy-cat. Just listen to how many radio stations have picked up on Classic FM’s garbage in the morning. See how many of the same TV shows we have. Formats are copied, presenters are changed. How many soaps will keep being produced in the name of “a new show”? I commend Mutua for that very tired show called Cobra Squad. It was horrible, but he moved in a different direction. Music, apes rap. All music is about clubbing, drinking, women, money and cars (which they probably don’t have or own). One person started lingala beats, everyone went there. Now everyone is a gospel singer. No identity there. Unlike Tz next door, where you’ll hear a song start and you’ll immediately know it’s a bongo track. Kenya has no creatives. Just copy-pasters.
Sawa, publish this one. I’ve been looking for an avenue to vent about this seeing that I’m also in the creative industry.
 Afrikanese
Thank you for saying what I have always wanted to say, but didn’t have the public forum to do so. No where in Kenya is the copy cat culture more common than in business. Witness the number of kiosks all peddling the same wares – phone accessories, perfumes, fake watches,
Lyserg • 18 hours ago
That whole garbage news of guys offering cows and what not should never have been published, at least by big media houses. That should have been left to tabloids otherwise it starts reinforcing some of the stereotypes about our people. There are serious issues to be discussed why give this platform to a bunch of perverts looking for attention.

You Wont Believe What Eric Omondi Did To A Pregnant Size 8!

As we all know by now, Size 8, gospel singer and wife to NTV’s DJ Mo, is an expectant mother and she has not shied away from telling the public what she expects very soon.

Forget that, as we all know the singer converted from secular music to gospel music and since then she has released quite a number of captivating hits among them Mateke and a collaboration with Willy Paul, Tam Tam.

Eric Omondi, arguably one of the finest comedians in Africa, has gotten Size 8 on the spot with one of his funniest jokes of our time.

During the Groove Awards, Eric cracked the audience’s ribs  with a joke about Size 8 and his song Mateke. Everybody was left wiping tears from their eyes when Eric took to the stage to dis Size 8, though on a lighter way, on how she does her Mateke song.

The comedian says that Size 8 looks a cool mama when she takes to the stage to greet the audience but when Mateke hits the decks, she goes wild and all she does is astonishing.

Here is how Eric did it:

Next Week Sonko Will Be Flying To London. His Mission Is What Is Making Tongues Wag

Nairobi Senator is scheduled to fly abroad and the nature of his visit is what is causing folks to scratch their heads.

Mike Sonko is a man that has proved the sky is not the limit! Whatever the flamboyant law maker wants he goes after it! Typical go getter.

A few years ago, when Sonko made his debut in politics as Makadara Member of Parliament, he didn’t have papers to flaunt for his academic achievement in as far as higher education was concerned.

With all his cash, Sonko embraced the popular philosophy that former South African President, Nelson Mandela, was synonymous with; Education is power.

The legislator joined Mt Kenya University to study business administration. Sonko enrolled himself for evening classes.

Now believe it or not, Sonko will be flying to the UK to give a lecture. Yes, the flamboyant Senator has been invited to England by students from the London School Of Economics to give a lecture in Business Administration

Next week, Sonko flies to London, we wish him all the best on his mission!

Gabu Introduces His Handsome Son To The World .He Is A Spitting Image Of His Famous Dad (Photos)

Apart from Sauti Sol P-Unit is definitely one of Kenya’s most successful music groups with various hits and awards under their belt.

Frasha, Bone’Eye and Gabu form the group that specializes in ‘Genge’ music, a genre that was coined at Calif Records.

Away from the limelight, some of the members are fathers. We all know that Frasha is a father to adorable girls but I bet most of us did not know that Gabu was a dad. Meet his cute son Khai

This is the Next Big Tune in the Gospel Industry

Sensational gospel singer HopeKid just releases his new single that already has became an instant hit that has gotten massive airplay across both mainstream media, the internet and YouTube. His brand new single is titled ‘Smile’, the song features Benachi. The song basically praises the Lord for giving us a reason to be happy daily for the gift of life and how He comes through for us in any situations that we call Him on.

HopeKid has been one celebrated gospel singer who barely lets the dust settle before he releases another song.

One thing that I believe will likely to captivate you from the new single is  the dance beats, clarity of the video itself and HopeKid’s signature style; the riddim melody.

Already the song has been embraced by most radio stations and is already enjoying massive airplay.

Below is the official video, enjoy

Is England Having a Clue About Al Shabaab Activities? Shock As One Of The Militants Killed In Lamu Is Briton (Photo)

A British national was one of the 11 militants killed by the Kenya Defence Forces when they ambushed a military base in Lamu on Sunday.

It was confirmed that among those killed was Thomas Evans, 25, a Briton who was denied entry into Kenya in 2010 and chose to join Al Shabaab in Somalia from where he has been involved in a spate of attacks on the Kenyan soil.

It can be remembered that England has been issuing serious travel advisories to its citizens intending to visit Kenya, something that has dealt a major blow to tourism in the country.

Thomas Evans

Thomas Evans who hails from Buckinghamsire in England was among the 11 militants killed when they attacked a military base on the eve of the commemoration of one year since Al Shabaab killed more than 100 Kenyans in Lamu.

Did England have the intel that Thomas was targeting Kenya and therefore issued travel advisories to its citizens?

These are some of the questions we are asking ourselves as we ponder about the next move.

She May Have Gallantly Defended Subarus after Njoki Chege’s Onslaught, but Betty Kyallo Drives a Sleek BMW (Photo)

Last year, Njoki Chege gained an unsavory reputation for her bare-faced disdain for Subaru owners especially those that owned the blue ones.

Something which upset many Subaru owners including Betty Kyallo who wrote a sternly worded letter to the Daily Nation columnist calling her criticism of Subaru as “utterly juvenile” before going on to describe the advantages of a Subaru.

Describing the thrill of driving the car as “second to none, that handling precision of its dual inverted struts, 300 Horse Power + 2000cc EJ20TT engine and symmetrical all wheel drive with driver controlled central differential unit all in one package is a heavenly feeling that your hatchback will never at any time achieve.”

Before concluding with “Betty Kyallo, Proud BLUE Subaru Owner, Car enthusiast”.

Well it seems that she has upgraded from her Subaru to something else, a sexy BMW that her daughter was co driving:

” My co-driver today. She rocks my world… Only that today she rocked my world with coughing, a running nose (illness). I love her to death … Meanwhile today in hospital someone walked up to me while I was TRYING to calm Ivanna down from a SERIOUS tantrum and said ” Oh Betty you are a normal mum”….. I was like “eeeer… yeah…. ?” she captioned the photo

Avril’s Former Boyfriend Claims Ladies Confuse Him For Trey Songz

Avril’s former beau is blowing his own horn with a skewed declaration that got everyone exclaiming in unison; GERRA RAH HERE MEN, S**T!!!

Tremaine Aldon Neverson, better known as Trey Songz, is an American RnB singer who is considered to be one of the most handsome black American celebrities.

Trey Songz is the American version of Kenya’s Bien-Aimé Baraza. Ladies would pay whatever price they can afford for a few seconds with Trey.

When one comes out of his den to claim he is Trey Songz’s look-alike, then you expect him to be a ladies’ magnet.

Avirl’s ex is claiming Kenyan ladies keep on confusing him for the American lady-killer. G Kon says girls follow him everywhere he goes.

G Kon’s claim sounds like a bad joke even for Trey Songz’s haters. The American is a bit light skinned plus his six packs are his ‘trademark.’

On the other hand, G Kon is darker in complexion but I bet there exist no photo of him flaunting his belly.

Anyway, dreams are valid! If ladies keep on shadowing him, maybe he should capitalize on that golden opportunity before they realize the Trey Songz they keep on confusing him for isn’t American!

Oh No! Khaligraph Jones Is Now Choma’ng Mahindi In Kayole Streets (Photo+Video Evidence)

Arguably one of the finest rappers in Kenya, Khaligraph Jones has always ensured that the competition is healthy and rife in terms of hip hop and of course we cant forget to mention his unending beef with another celebrated rapper, Octopizzo.

The hip hop industry in Kenya is arguably dominated by the two after veteran rappers’ feet became too tired to walk distances.

But the latest incident will leave you inspired.

Khlaigraph Jones has returned to the street to Choma Mahindi. Remember this man was raised in Kayole and has since gone through a lot to be where he is today.

khali

But hold on. Why is Khaligraph Jones Choma’ng Mahindi and freely mingling with street kids in his native Kayole?

Well, do not be taken aback. The other day I told how this man shook the hip hop fraternity in Kenya with a very well-crafted jam which he calls Ojuelegba Refix. It is a hot jam believe me guys.

And now the singer has released the video to the song, a video telling his journey to stardom and this is where he is seen roasting maize in the streets as he freely mingles with street ragamuffins.

Here is the video, a simple and sweet one, just like the song itself is:

Did A Kenyan University Try To Use Moha Of Jicho Pevu’s Name Wrongly To Get Credits? Interesting Details Here

Mohammed Ali is a celebrated name in Kenya today. This is the man who has embraced investigative journalism in the country and taken it to another level thanks to his prowess and passion for what he does.

His exposes have landed him in trouble with the powerful and the mighty in society, sometimes forcing him to free the country to Norway and other European countries to seek refuge.

But this has never stopped Mohammed Ali and his friend John Allan Namu. In fact, their names are liked in equal measure by lowly Kenyans and it seems this is what is prompting some people to try and make a living out of them.

It is Mohammed’s name that an institution of higher learning in the country used wrongfully to attract people to their forum to the amusement of the public.

Mohammed Ali himself confirmed he was surprised that the Technical University of Kenya used his name even when the institution had not invited him for the forum.

Here is the poster that lied to the public:

ali

And this is what Moha said:

Mohammed Ali ‏

Why would a technical university lie to its students that i would be coming for this workshop.

FIX IT PLEASE!!!! Apart From Being Boring, Here Are Four Other Things Wrong With Kenyan Award Ceremonies Today

Award ceremonies are billed as joyous occasions where we can celebrate the best talent in the business- whatever business it is. Nevertheless, a few good old-fashioned mishaps often over-shadow the glitz and glamour…

The Kilimanjaro Awards that happened this past weekend in Tanzania have been highly acclaimed. There were close to zero complaints. The only shock was when Ali Kiba won more awards than Diamond. That’s understandable since Kiba has been popular for close to ten years now yet Diamond has only been at the top for three years. It’s yet to be seen whether Diamond will embrace the longevity. The veteran always wins.

Back to Kenyan Awards; what’s really wrong?

The prize

Earlier this year, I was blessed to be one of the three finalists for the African Blogger Of The Year Award in the Social Media Africa Awards held in Lagos. It was organized by Nigerians. The winner of every award took home 1000 US dollars. That’s 95K in Kenyan currency. The losers didn’t go empty handed either. They were gifted with free social media training programs and lots of goodies. Pretty awesome right?.

In Kenyan Award Ceremonies, the only thing a winner takes home is prestige, accompanied by a trophy. If things are good enough, maybe a phone will be thrown in there. Which begs the question, why is it so hard for Kenyan Award organizers to give serious prizes yet there are sponsors? I bet you don’t know. Well, I don’t know either.

The method by which the winner is chosen

In The Social Media Africa Awards for example, the eventual winner for each category had to pass through several stages. First, the organizers called for the public to nominate people and institutions. Second, the judges sieved the hundreds of people and came up with a shortlist of worthy nominees who would then advance to the voting stage. The three individuals with most votes in each category would then advance as finalists to the decisive phase where judges picked the winner best on deep analysis of the work and contribution to society.

Kenyan awards rely on voting alone. Voting can be manipulated. Every award never passes without public outcry concerning who should have won and who shouldn’t. We saw that in the Groove Awards. We have seen that In many other awards

Same people winning

A few weeks ago, popular blogger Bikozulu won a BAKE award even though he had declared prior that he wasn’t interested in the awards anymore. That’s because he had won it so many times. For Christ’s sake, Biko even asked people to vote for other people in his category and not for him. He still won. He wasn’t impressed. In fact, he was so unimpressed that he went on a tirade against the sponsors of BAKE. Common sense dictates that even if Biko had the highest number of votes, awarding the person who came second could have been more appropriate.

There are other celebrities though who keep winning despite not deserving. The incessant need to give an award to every star even if all that they have done is just post Instagram photos and party is something we need to STOP doing. Keep the categories simple and maintain the sanctity of good ward ceremonies

Fashion sense

Speaking of what happens at the award ceremonies themselves, dress malfunctions are ten to the dozen these days (rips, tears, see through, nip slips, it’s all going on). Stars usually show up in overprized clothing without knowing whether they look good or not. The fashion disaster ship sailed a long time ago and no one tried to sink it.

You Wont Believe What Bahati Has Resorted To After His Groove Awards Heroics

Kevin Bahati, the gospel wonder boy who has risen quickly to fame, stunned the country a week and half ago when he literally swept the board at the Groove Awards with a scoop of for major trophies at the expense of his close sompetitor Willy Paul Msafi.

Bahati couldn’t hold back tears of joy as emotions engulfed him for a second year in a row.

His music seems to have wowed many and of course something many believe is his humility.

And after his Groove Awards heroics, Bahati is an elated man and this has greatly psyched him up. This boy has now embarked on another mission of serving his fans through the gospel.

Bahati is the newest pastor in town. Through his social media account, Bahati is praying for the need in society.

He posted yesterday asking his fans to post their needs on his wall and believe they came and Bahati never disappointed. He went on to pray for every need and want presented to him.

He told them:

So before you Sleep feel free to COMMENT with anything you’d want to get Advice or Prayers on… From either Me or the Rest of the FAMILY.

What Octopizzo Has Done Proves He Was Right To Attend Groove Awards… And The Saints Should Just Keep Quiet

Octopizzo, a rapper by profession, got tongues wagging when he made an appearance at the Groove Awards a week ago and presented the awards to the best gospel hip hop singers.

Many Christians got infuriated by Octopizzo’s invitation at the words, with hypocrites arguing that this was a Christian affair and people like Octopizzo were not welcome here.

I wrote an article defending the hip hop maestro (read it HERE) and as things are turning out, I was right after all.

Octopizzo has embarked on a mission that will not only build his name but more importantly help the less fortunate children in the republic.

What else would someone do for their country if not things like this? Carrying a bible and claiming to be holier than others when you actually are not?

Well Octopizzo is in the forefront to make sure that every child in the country has access to proper health care, clean water and education.

I would erode everything if I started narrating everything in my own words. Check for yourself what Octo is up to:

octo

octopizzo You have never really lived until you can do something for someone who can never repay you
Today being the #DayoftheAfricanChild (DAC) Day All over the World, Let us be the ones who say we do not accept that a child dies every three seconds simply because he/she does not have the drugs you a& I have. Let us be the ones to say we are not satisfied that your place of birth determines your right to life. Let us be outraged, let us be loud, let us be bold. Take a moment and remember all the children we’ve lost through war, diseases, poverty etc and stand for a future of a Child.

Former ‘Waridi’ And ‘Tahidi High’ Actress Does Something Unexpected

Barbara Chepkoech is known to many simply as Waridi thanks to her role as Waridi in a popular Citizen TV show with the same name back in 2006.

R.I.P: The Cruel Death Of Gospel Music Superstars. And The Quick Fade Into Oblivion.

A few years back, the biggest names on the local Gospel scene weren’t Willy Paul. Or Bahati. But today, very few years later, the superstars have fallen out of favor…

Juliani,Jimmy Gait,Ringtone,Holy Dave,Eko Didda….these were some of the huge names that rocked the world of Gospel for years…with huge hits, catchy tunes and and ever-expanding favor with the public.

But somehow, all that ebbed away sooner than it started…

The same people who drove us wild with music we’d dance to for months are nor the same people struggling to make an edge…struggling to be seen and heard again. Struggling to rise again…in a cutthroat industry that has since forgotten them. And embraced some other more sizzling, younger stars.

Others, tired of the competition and the imminent loss to the new breed of rock stars, actually opted out of music altogether…to do productions and other related businesses. I am talking

Gospel music, unlike any other genre of music in Kenya,is the most competitive and lucrative Industry right now…Many young men and women, daily, are dreaming of becoming Gospel Superstars overnight, spending night’s in studios recording what they hope will be the next big hit, aligning themselves to Churches  they hope will catapult them to the stardom they so aspire for and forming alliances with connected Gospel cells that they hope will push their dream.

Even local dance groups are all Gospel oriented. Everyone seem to want a piece of the yummy pie. A faster as they can. And as big a piece as they can possibly get.

But where did these former rock stars of yore go to? Want happened to them? To their allure? And their almost unassailable star power?

EKO DYDDA

He was once the star of of Gospel Hiphop. With his unique swag, great lyricism, witty lyrics, wonderful punchlines and special style of rap,Eko was quite the force to reckon with. He had an awesome flow and his word play was unrivalled. His songs, too, were quite the hits..rocking the airwaves Sunday to Sunday and driving young people wild. And then…the downfall came. The music stopped coming, the witty lyrics ebbed away…the star was wiped out. And the new releases didn’t quite resonate. He seemed to have given up,too. And gradually released less and less music…And,to date, are still waiting for an Eko Dydda revival. Patiently….

RINGTONE

He has never been that big, quite frankly but still,Ringtone has been quite a heavyweight for a minute now. Coupled with his tales of bottomless wealth and his little, childish scandals that never seemed to go away,Ringtone was constant tabloid fodder. A poor lyricist and an even poorer singer,Ringtone seemed to have locked it. And achieved the highest levels of superstardom. He did numerous school tours and his songs, though sometimes dumb and outright empty, still topped the charts. But then the flood came…and swept away the glory. And the favor. Ringtone became a nobody and the only way he’d remain at the top is by manufacturing scandals and picking beefs with secular artistes. Oh,the struggle. Sure, money CANNOT do everything.

JULIANI

He was once hailed as the Second Coming. No Gospel artiste shook the Gosple music industry quite as much as this insanely talented wordsmith did. He had a flow we’d never heard before…his songwriting skills were unparalleled and his creative word play actually spawned then likes of Eko Dydda. All of his songs, though predominately Hip-hop,shot to the top of the charts. And he was everything to everyone. But it was his stage performances that really cemented his place as the KING. Not of Gospel music. But of ALL Music. But then again, the same plague that ate up his contemporaries caught up with him. He was sucked into a life of NGOs and projects and agriculture and endless activism. He veered from the Word. And focused more on the socio-political environment. Activism ate him away. Piece by piece. Bit by bit…he stopped rocking the airwaves. And stopped being in the news. His ONLY salvation was his marriage to that blithe damsel,Brenda. Still,it couldn’t save face. Or keep a brother forever at the top. Still,he’s winning. Which is good.

JIMMY GAIT

Now this is the perfect example of a sensation. Jimmy was the greatest musical sensation that rocked this country. He came around with that 2008 super hit Muhadhara and immediately,a star was born. He became huge. Very very very huge. He was the superstar per excellence. And he swam in deep waters of flowing cash. Hit after hit,Jimmy took us away. And rose so fast,so high that we were afraid he’d collapse on us. He was sought-after from corner to corner. And even his fellow artistes were in awe of him. Still, nobody is exempt from the ruthless bites of the bug. And Jimmy was soon bit. And at once, his star stopped shining. The lights dimmed. The allure faded away…the hit songs hit a snag. And the charisma rusted. He faded  away…And seemed  to go go go. Never to return. Ever again. Oh,what a sweet voice he had. Sob Sob.

HOLY DAVE

Not exactly talented,or even sensational,Holy Dave still was quite the rock star! He was one of Gospel  music’s biggest hip hop stars. And with that Niko Na Reason collabo,Holy Dave rose to the highest peaks of the industry. And stayed there…Despite his obviously bland music. And sometimes weak lyricism, the industry was fair to him. And he never felt better. But soon enough, better acts were invented and this not-so-good rapper had to be toppled. And tossed out of the foggy window. And sure enough, that’s exactly what happened. And the boy, just like that, was forgotten. Forever. He now lectures business management. Yup,good luck bro.

MOG

This was the biggest music group that Gospel music ever had. They won EACH and EVERY award they ever got nominated for. And I mean,EACH and EVERY Award. They drove girls crazy, had insane stage performances, dropped hit after hit, could dance and scintillate and were really the Anointed Ones. Plus they were all boys…rough, diamond boys. Surely, they drove the ladies wild. But no,the driving didn’t last that long. Not the allure. Daily, they were engulfed in a string of scandals some of which were as dirty as rape and alcoholism. They tried, frantically,to fight off the scandals and even to re-invent themselves and find  a whole new footing. Still,it never worked. Their time was up. And the gods had had enough of this scandalous trio. Soon enough, just like their compatriots, this sexy threesome was wiped away. And stashed into cold, dark corners. From where they’d never shine again. No matter how much they tried. Ouch.

EMMY KOSGEI

Let’s face it,Emmy is the only Kenyan artiste-Gospel or otherwise- who managed to make our former First Lady the constantly grumpy Lucy Kibaki get up and dance her gloomy self silly at the Uhuru Park stadium during a national function. Emmy’s song Taunet Nelel was so huge so that it almost became our default national anthem. We danced along to that song so much so that our feet were limp and our voices were gruff. Emmy rose above the ranks, hobnobbed with the greatest and mightiest and did so many shows,we thought she’d never stop. Emmy was a phenomena that captivated us so much there were even rumors of her having some romantic dalliance with a very powerful politician. But after Taunet, came the almost predictable downfall. Nothing she released after that quite topped the Taunet fame. She tried to follow it up…But no,it didn’t happen. And,tired of now-evading glory, she decided marriage would do her good. And got married to that endowed  Nigerian widower. And,immediately, her story was over. Kabisa! And to tell you just how much Emmy has fallen out of the public’s favor, you should have seen the reception she got at the Groove Awards a couple weekends ago. It was colder than a terrorist’s heart. Colder.

MR. SEED

Now,even before this boy blew up big,he faded away. That fast. After that Papa God Oh that he did with MOG,and really made his name,Mr. Seed must have thought that the glory, fame and fortunes would never leave his door. Wrong. His star faded even before it shone. And nothing he did would save face. No song he dropped would hit the apex. The story was over…even before it began. Oh,the vagaries of fame.

Well, some veterans have somehow managed to still rock on,sing on and soldier on…Still releasing hits and still remaining just just relevant but also winning. Daddy Owen has perfected the art of longevity. Esther Wahome, too, her below-average music notwithstanding, has also managed to not go away…No matter how much she deserves to have gone, anyway.

And if you ain’t in this list,do re,ember tat the cruel hand of oblivion can come calling anytime. And that it can call anyone. Watch out! Before you’re ruthlessly  grabbed by the collar and relegated to the backseats…Never to shine again. Or be heard. Or seen.

What You Did Not Know About Mejja’s Brother And Mother (Photo)

Yesterday we showed a story of Mejja’s journey to stardom, how he started from a humble background in 2007 and steadily rose to become one of the finest singers in Kenya and East Africa.

The photo Mejja shared showing his dejected beginning tells it all about a man who had nothing except ambition and passion for music, something that later paid dearly.

However, Mejja did not just wake up one day and say he wants to be a singer. Hell no. Someone really played a significant role in Mejja becoming a singer.

And this person is his elder brother. Through his instagram account, the singer has revealed how his brother greatly inspired him to become a singer.

Mejja says he would listen to what he did, follow him to clubs and gigs and was inspired by the music he heard.
