After years of working as the host of one of the hottest shows in Town, Str8 Up, Ian Mugoya silently left KTN. There was no fanfare, no poignant or explanatory posts about his departure, just radio silence on the whole matter.

This silence of course led to a lot of assumptions with some saying he was fired others saying he quit on his own accord.

But as Ghafla has come to learn, Ian left the show to pursue his masters at Thika-road based Campus USIU. This move comes 3 years after the former TV presenter and actor graduated from the University of Nairobi with a degree in Economics.

Hmm it’s good to see that he is not just a beauty, but a beauty with brains.

Yesterday I brought you the story of Citizen TV’s Swahili anchor Kanze Dena. The story was about a woman who appears fresh and exciting on TV but harbours a lot in her private life. Read HERE

Kanze Dena came out to speak about her struggles in life how she has contemplated committing suicide before and many other things that we did not know.

That was part 1 of this exciting yet inspirational story.

Now sit back and listen to part 2 of Kanze Dena’s lows and highs. Kanze was speaking to Rev. Kathy Kiuna on her Woman Without Limits show three weeks ago.

–        She later delivered a baby boy after doctors  had thought she had a miscarriage when three months pregnant.

–          Her mother was discharged from hospital after a successful surgery. She was also overjoyed that this time round Kanze had accepted her child.

–          Her mother fell sick again and this forced her relatives to come to live with them.

–          Kanze still fought with low self-esteem and she contemplated committing suicide once again.

–          A year after giving birth, her mother died. This was the lowest moment in her life.

–          She was left all alone, wondering why even her relationships were not working. She felt guilty of giving birth out of wedlock.

–          She later landed a job with Citizen but this did not help either. She has even contemplated committing suicide a year ago.

–          Kanze says her good friends have greatly helped her to accept herself and change for the better. She is mother to a handsome son.

Members of the police force have gained a bad reputation over being too brutal, corrupt and being of little help to the common mwananchi.

Now the police force is under the glare of the spotlight after a few police officers raided a home in Loresho with the pretext that they were searching for counterfeit goods.

CCTV footage obtained by Citizen TV shows police inside the opulent household doing a little ‘shopping’ emptying handbags and stashing items in paper bags, an act that went on for 6 hours. What’s worse is that the pillaging mission was led by the assistant Superintendent of police Andrew Ndirangu Mwangi.

The act has been termed as illegal and criminal by AP Spokesman Masoud Mwinyi and action will be taken against them.

But anti counterfeit agency Dr John Akoteng did not see any problem with the situation claiming that the looters were acting on police information

Much has been said about Huddah Monroe getting married. The socialite hasn’t confirmed or denied rumors going round about her regarding the same.

Huddah getting hitched really? Sounds very unlikely but then again everything is possible in war and love!

But who is the lucky or unlucky man brave enough to want to tame Huddah? Interesting question though the answer Huddah has been beating around the bush with it.

During an interview with Cloud FM’s Millard Ayo, the self-styled socialite agreed to marry the Tanzanian presenter saying he was cute.

Of course Huddah didn’t mean a single word she uttered, she was only flirting with Millard on air. (Applying her trick to put a smile on the face of the interviewer.)

Nyeri women have been in the news for a while now and not for their diligent farming or hardworking nature but by their inability to let men’s ‘transformers’ be.

Last week a man lost his manhood to his wife’s chicken knife and another woman has now decided to follow suit and slice her man’s genitals.

In usual Kenyan fashion, this event has sparked outrage and some of the most hilarious memes I have seen in a minute.

The digital migration has become a thorn in the flesh of most media houses as its forcing their hand to lay off some of their employees.

This is because thanks to the migration, the audience have reduced in numbers as people are unwilling to buy  set-up boxes. For those who have bought the boxes, the variety of channels has multiplied meaning that the audiences are being spread across the various channels which have sadly more to offer than the Kenyan TV stations.

These two situations lead to another problem, advertisers want cheaper rates for adverts since the audiences are lower plus they are also spreading out  their advertising budgets to the new channels . So the old channels suffer a double hit, the loss of audiences and the loss of revenues .For example NTV’s revenue is said to have dropped by 60% which could have led to the mass firing at the end of April stretching to the beginning of May.

After a mass firing at NTV which has employees saying that they were blindsided, tension is high at KTN. According to a  reliable source, this is because of the mass firing that is looming in the distance,something that has made its employees walk on eggshells, fearing for their future.

This mass firing comes 2 years after the mass firing in 2013 that saw K24, Q F.M and Kiss TV send home some of its best.

Some graphic photos doing rounds on social networking sites have made internet users’ blood run cold!

While scrolling through the internet, I stumbled upon some petrifying photos of a young girl that frighten the living daylights out of me.

The girl had died under unimaginable circumstances. Internet users were equally taken aback by the graphic scene.

Folks were expressing utter disbelief following the girl’s strange death. Her phone had killed him! Shocked?

Well this is how it happened. The girl’s battery was flat so she decided to use the power bank to charge her phone.

Unfortunately, the girl fell asleep. The power bank got too heated, got stuck to her body and electrocuted her.

Her parents woke up to find their daughter was ‘fried’. Strange, isn’t it? The girl died from her own phone!

Yesterday blogger Robert Alai excited Kenyans on Twitter with news of the birth of his baby who he called Alain Junior.

The social media was awash with congratulatory messages to the man who has never shied away from courting controversy at will and locking horns with the authorities.

While majority got excited about this, some few elements took it upon themselves to troll Alai thanks to his controversial posts.

Amongst those who sent him congratulatory messages is celebrated show host Jeff Koinange, a man who has hosted Alai on his JKL show on KTN.

Koinange was full of kind words for Alai but did not flinch from telling him the truth.

He said:

25-year-old Ms Valentine Mugure left Nyeri court aghast when she blatantly denied slashing her beau’s private parts.

Some two days ago, Nyeri County once again caught the attention of the whole country with yet another gruesome incident.

A woman, Ms Valentine Mugure, attracted limelight after she allegedly chopped off her man’s reproductive organ.

Ms Valentine was arraigned in court yesterday where she denied charges of assaulting Paul Mwangi, the man she savagely attacked.

Her case was brought forward for mentioning but after her denial, Resident Magistrate J. Aringo, directed that Ms Valentine be remanded pending mention of the case again on June 15.

Her denial shocked many given that there were only two occupants in the house, Ms Valentine and Mr Paul, during the time of the incident.

Even before KTN’s Joy Doreen Biira’s anger on Felix Kiprono cools down, another Kenyan man has surfaced and said he wants to marry the American first daughter.

Felix Kiprono has been hitting headlines lately after he made an audacious offer to marry Malia Obama. The lawyer promised to give the American first family cows, goats and sheep as dowry for their beautiful daughter.

And now another man, Jeff Ole Kishau, a moran from Narok County, has offered to marry Malia Obama. Ole Kishau says that he is willing to give Obama 500 cows because Malia is too pretty for only 50 cows offered by Felix Kiprono.

According to Ole Kishau, he is eagerly waiting for Obama’s visit to Kenya in July when he will rally elders from his community to make the offer.

The moran believes he is the only suitable man to marry Malia despite interest from Kiprono. He called Kiprono a joker for offering only 50 cows.

Ole Kishau says among the elders he will rally is Narok County Governor Samwel Ole Tunai and former MP and minister William Ole Ntimama.

Today Bahati did something that has irked a crop of Kenyans.

He went to Octopizzo to seek advice on how to raise kids. In case you don’t know Bahati recently adopted his own brood of children, something that has received applause and thistles. Those applauding him say that it’s a very noble act, those that criticize him think that he does not know how much it takes to raise one kid, leave alone 3 kids.

And mother of one, Angie Wangechi a One F.M news anchor had this to say:

Back in March, word on the street was that one of KTN’s most prolific news anchors was making his way back to the news desk.

Nicholas Mudimba left KTN in 2014 for Fountain TV before moving to greener pastures at Super Sport.

Nicholas posted this tell-tale message indicating that he is coming back to TV “It’s been a while, back to Studio life again.TV near you” he wrote.

He refused to disclose where he was moving to but Ali Manzu, a senior reporter wrote this “Vyema,na usisahau kupiga pasi! “

We called up an insider at the Standard Group who informed us that he would be expected back at KTN, so keep your eyes locked on KTN.

Joy Doreen Biira the Ugandan girl who has made a name for herself on Kenyan TV, more specifically at KTN.

A girl you would never expect people to go HAM on .But Joy is facing quite the fiery attack on You Tube, this was after she lost her cool and told off Kiprono, the lawyer who is trying to seek Malia Obama’s hand in marriage. In all fairness that dude was pretty irritating and I get whey she was so mad, but then again, she is no ordinary girl, but one of the best at KTN. So people believe that she should have carried herself with more restraint and stuck it out to the very end.

Here are some comments from disgruntled Kenyans:

Peter chiira: This Biira lady is just a shame to KTN, how can one sue someone by just saying that he/she likes someone, she needs to read widely so she doesnt end up making stupid of herself during interviews. Secondly, atitude and ignorance will never take you Biira anywhere saying the guy has an accent who doesnt? youself you have your mother tongue’s accent i can even tell from which community you came from and even though you try to talk some Queen’s English it doesnt come out real, so telling the guy that he has accent and you cant understand him, you should listen to yourself first! Next time when you have to bring someone in the show please leave your audience(s) to make judgement(s). Be professional, “Maringo hayatakusaidia Biira!”

 kennedy mutisya: First time ever to comment on YouTube, but i’m a saddened individual. Joy Doreen Biira i held you in high regard. Very high regard. But how you reacted to this was unprofessional by all standards. I am sure you if you go through this interview yourself, it’s easy to see that some of the comments were unwarranted. Granted, the guy is clearly out to build his profile or something of the sort. It’s blatantly a cry for attention. However, every human being deserves an equal stage , whether they have a “fake accent”  or can only afford “50 cows” , it’s inconsequential.  Victor Muriuki: Kiprono’s approach may be awkward to many people. But what counts is only Malia’s or America’s first family’s interest or lack of interest…leave it upon them.

What is more awkward is when Joy Biira spews emotions while her guest is calmly harmless. Listen “what if obama sues the (kalenjin) community…I dont know why i invited you… I cant take this anymore…blabla

You profession demands that you have patience with the people you are interviewing. Declaring on air that you don’t have patience for ‘this’ (whether that refers to the interview or the person) is declaring that you are incapable of handling your job. maybe you should consider another profession.

Kanze Dena is one of the most revered Swahili anchors in Kenya today. Her stay at Citizen TV has seen her rise through the ranks to become one of the best news presenters of our time. She not only glitters but also entertains and educates in equal measure. Do not forget to mention how she complements the ever gorgeous Lulu Hassan.

But behind the sweet smile and the heart-warming voice we are so fond of on Citizen TV lies a life that has gone through so much. The story of Kanze Dena, a story you have probably never heard before, will shake you to the core.

She has quite a life experience that will leave you flabbergasted and mind-boggled. Kanze Dena opened up about her life and what she has gone through to become who she is today. She was speaking on Rev. Kathy Kiuna’s show Woman Without Limits 3 weeks ago.

Here are some of the things you probably did not know about Kanze Dena:

–          She has three names: Kellen Beatrice Kanze Dena.

–          Was born to Duruma parents, a community in Kwale County.

–          She was brought up by a single mother after her father left when she was four years old.

–          Grew up in both Nairobi and Mombasa.

–          She schooled in Embu and specifically Kieni Girls High School.

–          She greatly suffered from low slef-esteem because she was bow-legged and had a protruding tummy and boobs at a tender age. She was looked down upon because of this.

–          She is a natural actress. Could act very well when in high school and after high school.

–          Her low self-esteem forced her to start drinking alcohol.

–          She worked as a waitress after high school and in the process got pregnant.

–          She later enrolled for a secretariat course but hid the pregnancy from her mother. It was until when she delivered at Pumwani that her mother got wind and came to see her and the baby.

–          She had planned to have her child adopted but her mother went to stay with the young girl (Natasha). Unfortunately, Natasha died after three months. This greatly threw her into depression and she contemplated committing suicide but as it happened, it never happened.

–          Later joined Nairobi Baptist Church where she found solace and rediscovered herself after thorough counseling. This greatly sufficed as she joined Bible Study classes and the praise and worship team.

–          Went to college and later joined KBC as an intern. When the KBC boss heard her voice, he recommended she goes for a voice test and she qualified to read bulletins on KBC radio at 4 p.m.

–          While at KBC and NBC, she got pregnant again and her world returned back to square one. She contemplated quitting church but was encouraged to stay.

–          After 3 months, she woke up one morning with blood all over her bed. Upon arrival at hospital she was told she had had a miscarriage. This greatly broke her down and she contemplated committing suicide again.

–          It was after seven months that she felt a lot of pain and visited hospital where they told her she had amoeba and needed serious medication.

–          After another scan, it was discovered she was pregnant. This shocked everyone.

–          By this time she had serious disagreements with her boyfriend and were not even seeing each other eye to eye. She wondered how to face him and tell him she was pregnant.

–          Then her mother fell ill upcountry and she was transferred to Nairobi for medication. O arrival, she fainted at ambassador and was rushed to hospital where she was diagnosed with cancer.

–          While in hospital, Kanze delivered her child.

The first time we learnt of the couple was after the green Mucielago quietly made it’s way into the Nairobi business district. It was a sight to behold, it shimmered bright in the Nairobi sun, stately, a powerful statement that reeked of money and class. Before we got time to settle down, another car of such mind blowing elegance was sighted, It was a sleek Rolls Roys Phantom.. 

Before we even got time to wrapp our head around the two high end cars, a red ferrari came into the picture, then a tron bike… Yes that futuristic bike made famous by the movie “Tron”. 

The owners of the fleet were introduced officially to us  at the Zen Garden’s high fashion tea. A couple that stole the show in their attire after alighting from their Rolls Royce. 

The couple has homes all over the world. From Dubai to Newyork.. They have two kids, the last born is called “Young Versace” 

Prepare to be blown away.

It’s common knowledge that Anerlisa Muigai enjoys the finer things in life, and why not? Her mum is one of the richest women in the country as the CEO of Keroche industries.

Away from the Celine Handbags, Tom Ford products and Ferragamo shoes, it seems like she also likes to splash when it comes to alcohol.

And the price for one bottle ranges from 300 dollars to 20,000 to $125,000 dollars, however, the exact price of the bottles is unknown. Whether she bought them for herself or it’s just for stunting is also unclear.

Btw this is the same brand of alcohol that Beyonce poured into a hot-tub in her ‘Feeling Myself’ video with Nicki Minaj, a move that severely hurt a lot of people.

After working at Ebru Tv, for close to an year, one of Ebru TV’s best has left the building.

Joey Muthengi from the ‘Sugar and Spice’ show has left the James-Gichuru based media house over poor pay. This is the same reason that Michelle Morgan left the  station even though she denied it .

 ‘Sugar and Spice’ was a family talk show where Joey would invite celebrities as guests, get to talk about trending topics, family and career over a chef prepared meal.

She had taken the mantel from Mkamzee Mwatela who hosted the 1^st season of Sugar and Spice.

This move comes after allegations late last year that the popular female media sensation had relinquished her job at Ebru TV after falling out with the management at Ebru TV. It was said that she stormed out of a live recording in a huff. Something which she denied. But it’s for real this time, no rumor.

On 2nd November 2012, a new dating show was launched at KTN and I’m sure that the producers knew it would blow up, but not blow up as hard at it did.

It became a must watch and always trended every week thanks to how riveting it was. The show host scouted for a woman and man, set them up on a date and watched the whole thing go down on camera. The two people on the date would then get to give their opinion on the date on what they liked or loathe about it. Most of the dates were a flop and this only helped in building a bigger audience.

The show became such as hit in Kenya that Maisha Magic picked it up. For those who are ardent followers of the program you have noticed that the hosts are missing in the new season, most notably Malonza for the Kenyan audience. Something which has led to a lot of speculations among them, him quitting or getting fired.

However its non of the above. Malonza tells us that the he won’t be on the show for season 3 and 4 as the producers are trying something new, a Tujuane without the hosts. Depending on how this experiment goes, Malonza and his Tanzanian counterpart could be back on the show…or not.
