As reported early on, controversial blogger Robert Alai Onyango is the latest dad in town after his wife gave birth to a beautiful baby girl.

Robert Alai was overjoyed by the fact that he is a father today and quickly took to twitter to share his joy at the bundle of joy that God has given his family.

Twitter has since been flooded with KoT congratulating the blogger while a few individuals took their time to troll the young angel.

Among those who have sent congratulate messages to Alai is the Star’s Oliver Mathenge, a man whom Nation writer Njoki Chege viciously attacked a month ago for flooding the social media with photos of his family and stories of what he does with his newly married wife.

The Njoki Chege-Oliver Mathenge incident got many talking, with most people jumping to the Star writer’s defence.

Away from that, Oliver has taken to twitter to congratulate Robert Alai for what he has achieved. He retweeted Alai’s post and said:

In this day and age as a celebrity you have no control over what people say about on social media. And sometimes you can have mean comments even when it’s unnecessary and you are a sweet person, as Janet Mbugua learned during her wedding day.

Controversial serial bill defaulter Laura Oyier is a woman under siege despite one of the biggest media houses in Kenya claiming to have bailed her out when she was arraigned in court for failing to clear her bills at the Hotel Intercontinental.

It was on the Valentine’s Day when Laura Oyier hit headlines for failing to pay Kshs.230,000 accrued after she spent her holiday in the posh hotel in the heart of the capital.

Laura appeared in court with make-up that caused noise in the court room and a face that looked more bleached than it should be.

It was at this time that Radio Africa Group, owners of Kiss 100, Classic 105, Radio Jambo, Kiss TV among other media outlets, through its Chief Marketing Officer, Caroline Mutoko, came out to tell the world how they had helped Laura clear the bill.

It was also rumoured that they had offered her a job but alas! It was a lie.

This morning the controversial owner of a fashionline selling water at Kshs.800 per bottle was spotted by one of Ghafla! Kenya members at the Milimani Law Courts corridors, ready to appear in court over what is believed to be the bill.

Laura seemingly looked dejected and it seems the case is dragging her into more and more misery.

The question is: Did Radio Africa Group lie to Kenyans they had bailed Laura Oyier? Did she launch her Kshs.800 water to help her raise the money for the bill? Was Radio Africa using her for their own benefits?

 

 

About a month ago, Marya’s squeaky clean reputation was almost tainted after Salma Mbuvi took to Instagram and hang here out to dry.

For close to a decade now, Africa Nasaha production through its flagship Dreamz come true has been scouting, nurturing and awarding upcoming talent around the country. 

As a matter of fact, Dreamz Come True is arguably one of the biggest reality shows in Kenya after Tusker Project Fame and M-Net’s Maisha Superstar, only that it involves high school students drawn from across the country who meet at a grand finale, sqaure it out before the best leave the fete with awards and dreams on their satchels. 

Just like in Maisha Superstar and TPF, participants have to advance to the next stage and can be placed on probation or eliminated depending on their performances. The participants take part in 20 categories, among them song, choreography, news presentation and fashion.

The top three winners in each category receive partial scholarships in form of cheques paid directly to their educational institutions.

The founder and CEO, Francis Mwangi aka Jimmy K, himself a renowned dance choreographer and singer, says this programme was started not only to discover but also nurture and reward talent without interfering with education of the kids. The programme’s categories are creative and competitive and students are free to be innovative as they can be.

Three participating students from each category will not only receive cheques to settle their school fees but they will also win partial scholarships from Institute of Advanced Technology (IAT), which the programme has partnered with.

In the meantime, Mwangi and his team are traversing the nation scouting for talented students in preparation for the August competitions.

On her Africa Speaks show on KTN, the Ugandan presenter was hosting controversial lawyer Felix Kiprono, a man who has made headlines across the globe after making an audacious and ambitious offer to marry American first daughter Malia Obama.

The reason for the invite was to give Kiprono a platform to tell Kenyans and the world why he settled on a 16-year old with promise to give the American first family cows, goats and sheep as dowry.

But as the interview shimmied on, Joy Doreen Biira was literally getting pissed off with every word Felix uttered and like a bomb ready to explode, she couldn’t hold back her emotions.

She clearly got disgusted and showed it life on TV.

Felix tried to defend himself by saying it is his community that has set the pride prize but for Joy, the damage was long done.

Nyeri women could have made better battlefield warriors than the 300 Spartan soldiers of the medieval times. Nyeri women could have conquered Rome and Persia.  They just slash men like nobody’s business. Instead of Alexander The Great and Julius Ceasar, we’d be reading about Njeri The Great and Shiko The Conquarer

What’s up with Nyeri women though? Chopping off men’s privates is not cool. There can be better resolutions to marital conflicts. Do those ladies really understand what a man’s private tools mean to him? You can’t just go cutting the iron rod like that. How do you expect a brother to live?

We can argue that the men are to blame too. If it reaches the point where a woman decides to chop off your shuma, you must have really been an irritating fella. I am not condoning anything though. Violence is the worst form of retaliation.

Nyeri women are now feared by men. They are now like mafia queens who roll with the mantra, “Mess with me and I’ll separate you from your balls.”.

But does this happen only in Nyeri? Women beating up their men – physically, emotionally or financially – has become a hidden epidemic because Kenyan men are too scared of being labelled wimps if they cry for help.

The cumulative effect of repeat “knees in the nuts” or being heaped with scorn is a damaging erosion of self-worth.

But a typical response to men who do complain is, “C’mon, you’re a grown man – get over it. How do you get beaten by a woman you fool?”.

Similar to the pattern of abuse of women by men, it often starts with verbal, financial and psychological abuse, but over time escalates to physical and sometimes even sexual abuse.

The issue is even more under-reported for men than women, because men fear either being seen as wimps or not being believed. You can only afford to report when you are cock-less. So it’s likely that many Nyeri ninjas are being Mayweathered every day

It is 10^th June, 2015, a day everyone has woken up happy and healthy except a few of us who can’t find our joy for a number of reasons.

But did you know that 10^th June is just a bad day for Kenya and its people? Well, if you did not know or have just forgotten, do not scratch your head hard. I will remind you.

It was on 10^th June, 2008 when the country was shocked to the core. Ministers Kipkalya Kones and Lorna Laboso perished in a plane crash as they flew to the South Rift.

The two died near Kojong’a hills near Nairegi Enkare trading centrein Narok when the light aircraft they were flying in crashed, killing all the four occupants.

At the time of their death, Kones was MP for then Bomet Constituency while Laboso was MP for Sotik. Kones was minister while Laboso was assistant minister.

As if that was not enough, 10^th June, 2012, a cold Sunday morning, breaking news covered our screens. The then Minister of Internal Security George Saitoti and his assistant Orwa Ojode perished in a deadly helicopter crash near Ngong as they flew to Ojode’s Ndhiwa constituency for a fundraiser.

The death of Saitoti prompted then President Kibaki to declare three days of national mourning. The country was shaken.

Theories could later emerge trying to unravel what led to the death of the Minister and former VC.

Arguably the most philanthropic politician Kenya has ever seen, Mike Sonko is everyone’s favourite when it comes to matters philanthropy and helping the less fortunate in society.

Some would argue that it is because he is probably eyeing for another term in office as either governor or senator in Nairobi. But waswahili once said: kutoa ni moyo usambe ni utajiri.

Sonko has been helping the less fortunate across the country and the latest to have his help is this little girl, Scandy Chelagat.

 A young girl from Kericho who had a cancerous tumor in her eye that greatly threatened her life required agent medical treatment. This was only possible outside the country.

Her parents had no financial power to help their daughter get treated in India. They turned their plea to Mike Sonko who without hesitation offered to offset all the bills required to have baby Scandy treated.

And so she was flown to India where she underwent surgery and the cancerous tumor removed from her eye.

Little Scandy jetted into the country last night amid celebrations from a crowd that went to receive her at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.

In less than a week, Nyeri County is in the headlines once again for all the wrong reasons. Remember the days when reports surfaced on how Nyeri women beat their husbands mercilessly? Reports on how some even burnt them with hot water while they were asleep?

After last week’s incident where a woman chopped off her husband’s fundamendos, another one has made headlines for the same reason.

Yesterday saw another man hospitalized after his wife chopped off his penis and balls, leaving him helpless and fighting for his life.

Neighbours say they heard a scuffle between the two and when they arrived to inquire what was happening, they spotted the man on the veranda with blood oozing from his pants.

It is at this point that he told them his wife had chopped off his penis.

The man was rushed to hospital where he was admitted and recuperating.

All this time,Shaniqwa had been hiding in the staffroom as she had been told that her presence at the assembly ground would cause havoc…And when it was finally time to invite Shaniqwa on stage,the whole school went wild. Teachers,too,couldn’t hide their apparent excitement.

Escorted by the School Principal,Shaniqwa was brought out of the staffroom to a chorus of thousands of students screaming and shouting and hollering at him.

“Poaaaa…” the pupils answered right back almost immediately, their hands flailing in the air, their screams hard to control and their excitement running over the edge.

Throwing their sweaters in the air and clapping wildly,the students welcomed Shaniqwa to the stage on which she performed for half an hour and presented two packets of sweets to the huge masses of breathless students gathered below…

Even when the show was over,the pupils didn’t want to leave and they loudly urged Shaniqwa to hang on a little longer…But time was up.

Kalekye Mumo has decided to escape to Brazil.

So what is she running away from you ask? Maybe she is running away from the cold Nairobi weather, the traffic or just wants to see the world. And her destination is the intriguing South American country of Brazil.

During the TPF finale in 2013, Ruth Matete wore a dress that had criticism hitting her like a ton of bricks.

The dress was termed as ‘skimpy’ and ‘inappropriate’ as it exposed her thighs in a show that was deemed family friendly.

Following this incidence she was forced top apologize profusely saying that “Having let so many down, I am lost for words to express my sincere apology for my inappropriate dress during the TPF final show. Without making excuses, I must say that I am indeed sorry. The pressure that comes with performance and fame can drive one to make mistakes. I am indeed a work in progress. I pray that you can find it in your hearts to forgive me and not give up on me. I am sincerely sorry for my wrong. I have sought the counsel of my mentors and spiritual cover. I know under their guidance, I will continue to grow and become more like Christ.”

And this time her outfit of choice is back in  the news, this time because of a beautiful satin dress she wore while receiving her award at the popular Groove Awards.

 

Rights Activist, Boniface Mwangi, led a crowd of charged primary school pupils to demonstrate outside Weston Hotel.

Weston Hotel is once again falling on the media’s radar after Boniface Mwangi and his foot soldiers carried out a demonstration for alleged land grabbing by the hotel.

Last week, the deputy president publicly admitted to owning the controversial hotel that is said to be built on public land.

Boniface uploaded a clip of the demonstration on social media.

“Hawa watu wametuzoea sana… Na huyu Ruto ni mwizi sana!” Vexed pupil shouted.
