The most powerful man on earth will lead the world to Kenya come Friday this week. This, for Kenya and its people, is historic. And it will go down the memory lane as the first time a US sitting president set foot in Kenya.

In preparation for the maiden visit, Kenya and especially Nairobi is receiving a major facelift, with the city looking cleaner than ever before.

The Global Entrepreneurship Summit is the reason why the world is heading this way. But apart from this, Obama and other dignitaries are expected to interact with Kenyans in one way or the other. And focus is entirely on the US President who has his roots in Kenya.

His grandmother is down in Kogello.

Many have been wondering if at all they will get any chance to see Obama physically. Well, your doubt should just end here. At least for now.

This is after State House revealed that Obama will be speaking to Kenyans from the Moi International Sports Centre Kasarani, alongside President Uhuru Kenyatta. So Thika Road will be literally impassable on Sunday! Oh Lord! I thought we, the highway dwellers, are spared of the snarl ups and closed roads!

Before you start preparing how to arrive at the stadium early enough on Sunday to grab the front seat, hold on.

It is, however, not confirmed if Obama will be speaking in closed doors and if it will be an invite only thing at the Safaricom Indoor Arena or if the whole stadium will be opened for Kenyans to see the US President.

Police estimate that if the latter is the case, close to 300,000 Kenyans are expected to throng the stadium anxiously to see the US President.

The Mall re-opened after being closed for more than 2 years following a terror attack that left scores dead and a great deal more injured or maimed for life.

 Now, the president was among the dignitaries that headed to Westgate when it re-opened it doors to the public last weekend.

During his visit, Uhuru took a moment to shop, Maybe he felt the need to join in the fray of opening sales and get something for himself. The funny thing is that he spent less than 500 shillings.

The leader of the free world is set to visit the country later this week and Kenyans cannot wait any more. But before his much anticipated visit, Barack Obama, whose father was born in Kenya, ensured that he did the extra-ordinary thing over the weekend.

The US President was captured taking his two beautiful girls out on Friday night and made a stop in one of the clubs in New York to get some hip hop refreshment.

This latest action from the man who made history when he became the first American black President got every tongue wagging across the globe.

Remember Malia Obama, the girl who has got Kenyan pedophiles salivating for her? Well, she was in the company of his father as they went out to enjoy themselves.

As we brace ourselves to welcome the free world to Kenya, Obama’s latest action left me thinking hard. What if the US president pulls one more surprise when he lands in the country.

I mean what if he requests that the likes of Octopizzo, Khlaigraph Jones, MDQ, Jaguar, Nameless, Sauti Sol and other artistes just organize for a concert at let’s say the Carnivore and he attends to hear what Kenyan artistes have.

I guess this will be the biggest scoop for not only the artistes but also the Kenyan industry. Just imagine Obama listening to Kenya music.

Amid criticism that Kenyan music is pathetic, Obama should just pull this surprise to save our industry.

As this is one of the many things he should do to the entertainment industry in Kenya, I wonder if his visit will really help the Kenyan artistes in any way.

Has anyone drawn a plan on how this can be achieved? Our industry direly needs Obama’s help. I tried to research over the weekend on how the Obama administration has helped the American showbiz industry grow and the only thing that I landed into was what he did on Friday.

An article highlighted how Obama’s regular night outs with his family helped promote artistes in the US. It said that by listening and appreciating some music, the artistes become celebs overnight.

Obama’s admin has also created a very conducive environment for artistes in the US to do their thing. No one is censored for doing their thing. Kenya is a bit different. Ask Sauti Sol and they will tell you this.

A pastor in Embu found himself between a rock and a hard place when a section of his enraged flock turned against him and bayed for his blood as he led a sermon yesterday.

The congregants of the East Africa Pentecostal Church are said to have been angered by what is believed to be a misunderstanding over a 500k offering.

According to some of the faithful, the pastor has misused the money meant for church developments with the help of a few congregants.

On sensing danger, the pastor escaped through the backdoor and was captured scaling up a wall using a ladder before hiding on the roof of one of the buildings near the church.

The pastor could later deny that he has misused church money and instead the faithful wants him out because he is not playing to their evil tunes.

Jacqueline Matubia popularly known as Jolene from her role in Citizen TV’s Tahidi High welcomed a new bundle of joy over the weekend.

She was baptized the baddest girl in Tahidi High. Jolene quit her role in the Citizen TV show when she got pregnant.

The actress gave birth to a bouncing baby girl over the weekend whom she named Zari, perhaps after Diamond’s pregnant wife.

Her fellow actress, Catherine Kamau popularly known as Celina was first to break the news the moment baby Zari arrived.

Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko was given powers to read over the weekend when he graduated with his first degree in Business Administration from the Kenya Methodist University, a ceremony that was grace by DP William Ruto and Cabinet Secretary for Education, the embattled Jacob Kaimenyi.

As reported by Ghafla! Kenya, Sonko touched down at the graduation ceremony with two choppers.

That aside, fresh details have emerged showing the time it took the philanthropic and flamboyant politician to obtain his first ever degree.

The details are obtained from two stories published by Star Newspaper. The first story was when the Senator joined KeMU to start his undergraduate studies. This was in May 20^th, 2013. The story read:

“Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko has joined Mt Kenya University to study business administration. Sonko, who was admitted in the May intake, is to start his evening classes this week.”

And in Yesterday’s publication, the same paper ran the story of Sonko how he graduated. The story read in part:

“Sonko who graduated with a Bachelor in Business Administration enrolled at KEMU in 2013”.

Well, it just took the Senator 2 years to acquire his degree.

Among those who joined the bandwagon to congratulate Sonko on his achievement is his political rival Governor Evans Kidero. Kidero said through his facebook account:

”Congratulations are inorder Senator Mike Mbuvi Sonko as you prepare to graduate this coming Saturday! You have walked a long way to reach this goal. You are truly an inspiration and demonstration to all that hard work and dedication does pay. We are very proud of you and well done!”

Some argued that the senator had gone for the degree because he is eyeing the Nairobi gubernatorial seat. However, Sonko refuted this and said that all he wants is to sharpen his knowledge and provide services to Nairobians.

 

Following the death of veteran Vitimbi actor Mzee Ojwang Hatari, socialite Huddah Monroe came out to claim that she knew the deceased on a personal level having featured in Vitimbi at some point as Kayai, child to Mama Kayai and Mzee Ojwang.

And social media went H.A.M on her, dismissing her as an attention seeker who is not contented with her socialite affairs.

This is because Kenyans have never taken socialites seriously thanks to the beliefs they harbor about those practicing the loathed ‘profession’.

However, Mama Kayai, Mzee Ojwang’s Vitimbi wife, has come out to speak about Huddah and her claims that she featured in Vitimbi.

Speaking to Larry Madowo on the Trend on Friday evening, Mama Kayai confirmed that indeed Huddah acted with Vitimbi and she was supposed to feature as her child after the one who was playing the part flew out to the US.

Mama Kayai’s colleagues in Vitimbi confirmed this before they went on to make a joke out of Huddah’s involvement in socialite things.

Mama Kayai lamented that Huddah left before she could make a name for herself because she was so talented.

Fallen Vitimbi legend, Mzee Ojwang, will be laid to rest on Wednesday 29^th July, his burial will be next to no other!

Benson Wanjau popularly known as Mzee Ojwang will be accorded a state-like burial that is said to be like that one of first President, Mzee Jomo Kenyatta.

In a chat with NTV’s Larry Madowo, Mama Kayai, Ole Matope, Olexander Josphat and former Vioja Mahakami prosecutor, affirmed their fallen colleague will be laid to rest in style.

Peter Sankala best known as Olexander, told Larry Mzee will be buried like the country’s founding father.

“Tuaambia wote wanataka kujihusisha katika mazishi, Ojwang hatazikwa vile wengine wamezikwa. Atazikwa kama Mzee Jomo Kenyatta.” Olexander uttered.

The thespian added that artists have reached a level where they could successfully plan a burial for their fallen colleague that goes down history books.

Mama Kayai reiterated Olexander’s sentiment adding that it has reached a time when veteran artists ought to be treated with respect they deserve.

“Alekii amesema tunataka kuona mazishi ya Mzee Ojwang ivunje rekodi. Tuliona Tanzania msanii amekufa, Kanumba. President wa Tanzania sijui alikua anaeenda wapi, alivunja safari aje amzike msanii.” Mama Kayai disclosed.

Mzee’s farewell show will be held at KICC on Tuesday 28^th. A requiem mass will then be held at Nyayo Stadium the following day from 10AM after which Mzee will finally be laid to rest at Langata cemetery.

CORD Leader Raila Odinga yesterday pulled out another shocker with the list of the most corrupt persons in the government and National Youth Service was once again dragged into the mud, how you wonder? Award winning Cabinet Secretary Anne Waiguru was in the list together with IEBC’s Isaack Hassan and other names linked to graft

He alleges that, the people he named were previously in the list but somehow they were removed. The NYS saga has caused uproar among Kenyans and certainly there is more that we probably miss out in the twists and turns surrounding the whole tale. Shove that aside, looking at this new development, it is notable that one Eng. Mangiti and Suna East MP Junet Mohammed have not appeared on any list yet, they are notable suppliers to NYS, credible internal sources have told us.

 

It calls for inquires about what is the relationship between, Eng. Mangiti, MP Junet Mohammed and The National Youth Service. If the procurement process was wrongly carried out as alleged, then they too should have been named at one time, or even in Raila Odinga’s list, but, they haven’t.

Eng. Mangiti, who happens to be the Permanent Secretary for Devolution Ministry is apparently the biggest supplier of foodstuffs to the National Youth Service. MP Junet Mohammed is also a foodstuffs supplier to the National Youth Service. Did Baba miss out on such information or he just couldn’t name his own party member as corrupt as well and watch him face the consequences?

The figures allocated for foodstuffs supply were highlighted in the alleged graft at NYS as well. Is this issue being tossed right left and center and focus directed only at NYS Transformation projects? are there certain bits missing out in the whole picture?And how did Eng. Mangiti qualify as a supplier for NYS, when he works at the Ministry under it, Devolution? Is that acceptable?

It only shows that, the lists coming out ,seem to focus mainly on particular people ,yet there are others involved yet, they are nowhere close to the cases.We can only wait to see if these allegations hold any water with time but this is rather a new and unexpected twist of events as we ponder over Raila’s list, but honestly #IsThereMoreToRailasList?

 

 

I understand that everyone needs to live a happy life.

Everyone needs to make their inner soul happy and the misconception is it doesn’t matter the shape or form by which you chose to make yourself happy. I understand that a young mind needs to have fun when the body can still handle it. Like the legendary Frank Sinatra said, ‘You gotta love living baby because dying’s a pain in the ass.’
One important question comes to mind though. Should the amount of fun you have outweigh your serious endeavors in life?
I love to party myself. I love drinking. Ever since my lips left my mum’s breast , I yearned  to get something new for my lips to cover – something different. I found two solutions. First there was the beer bottle. I love beer more than a medieval king loves concubines. Shaffie, the chairman of walevis, would have inducted me into the walevis hall of fame.  Second solution was women. My lips cover various parts of women’s bodies, don’t even ask which.

Add all this to the fact that I am popular and things get even worse. I’ve made monumental mistakes. Who cared about the future when I was doing these things? Not me definitely.

So I had fun, I partied like every day, I gave all the socialites a piece of my cake and drank myself silly. And not dustbin deals like wakina Huddah. I was slaying prime, untouched college ladies on a weekly basis! Change came when I got really sick one day. It happened after I had slept with a random girl without using a condom. I was to learn later on through  the girl’s BFF that she had herpes and possibly the HIV virus?

Had she infected me? Was I showing early symptoms? I rushed to the hospital fearing the worst. No there was no herpes. There was no HIV. However, after giving my doctor a run down of my lifestyle, he told me that if I didn’t change, I’d be in trouble pretty soon.
That was a game changer for me. I cut down on drinking all the high concentration stuff. I stopped smoking too and vowed to never have raw sex again.  I’ve kept all the promises to myself so far.

I am popular right now but fame is like a lotus flower. It withers and dies at some point. Right now I am more focused on planning my future and getting business deals than partying with groupies. Changing your life can seem an incredibly tough and complicated thing, especially if you’ve messed up a great number of times (like I did). Many people have found it too hard, and resigned themselves to not changing.

Many people procrastinate on the intent to change. Lots of people won’t actually change until something bad happens. I am lucky that something bad didn’t happen to me. It just almost happened. That’s a relief – reprieve. What about you?
Will you live your youthful your life bothering about what woman to sleep with next or will you live planning how to buy  mega mansion when you are 30.

You see, nature wants the majority to fail. You need to be smart. Ukiendelea tu kvuta bangi kama chimney hiyo ni shida yako. Usiseme sikukwambia. Align yourself with the right people and be different. Be responsible. That’s what I’m calling kukachora. Take care of your health and don’t hurt others with your decisions.

Mzee Ojwang’s death has reunited industry’s veteran thespians who gathered to celebrate the life of their departed friend.

All veteran actors and actresses and other celebrities who graced our screens at the time when Greatwall black and white television was the most expensive gadget in most living rooms, assembled for the late Mzee Ojwang memorial.

Leonard Mambo Mbotela, Mama Kayai, the entire former Vioja Mahakamani cast, Mogaka among others were all present to celebrate Mzee.

The veteran thespians scrambled for a piece of Radio Maisha presenter, Jalang’o, who was also present at the event.

Moses Kuria Kuria stood up from a live interview at Citizen Tv and slowly walked out. He was Justified I think. The interview was skewed and lopsided and unfair from the start. Towards the end of June, NTV reporter Brenda Mulinya-Wanga and her husband Allan Wanga of Harambee Stars got into an accident near Naivasha.

Thankfully, the parents of two and their companions lived to tell the tale but their car not so much, as it was badly damaged.

According to reports Brenda Wanga and her husband Allan were on their way to Nairobi when their car swerved off the road and overturned.

 

Now, Nairobi News reports that despite their 2 Million Loss, the couple now has a 2.5 Million Car, a Mitsubishi. Check it out next:

A middle aged woman was last evening beaten to death along Kimathi Street just a few steps from Nation center.

Last evening while ninjas at Ghafla! were engaged in argument as to whether the following day would be a holiday or not, our chief chef alerted us on the action going on a few block from our building.

Since our cameraman was out somewhere trying to chips funga a lady for the cold night, the duty to get the scoop of the story was passed to me.

With office camera locked in the volt, I had to use my aged phone to take photos of whatever was happening out there.

I bolted out of the office taking the stairs since the elevators were taking a century to get to the eighth floor.

Boom! I arrived outside the Nation Center just on time to witness a woman struggling to gulp air down her throat.

Apparently she was a thug, according to bystanders who arrived there earlier than me. The middle aged woman was in company of a man who managed to escape leaving her to face the wrath of angry public.

“Mungu hii wakati yote nimeiba leo t undo niuawe!!” The lady cried but her plea for mercy fell on deaf ears.

Kicks and blows continued to rain on her and then suddenly she laid down not moving a muscle. Folks continued lynching her motionless body even though her soul was long gone.

Beside her were numerous ATM cards and other plastic cards that she probably stole from her victims. I was a little bit shaken watching a fellow human being robbed of her life.

Michelle Morgan a K24 anchor a mixed race girl is no different a people often ask her which Kenyan tribe she belongs to. The charming TV anchor says that she was born in Kenya but she is of Tanzanian-English descent.

Her mum is Tanzanian and once worked as an air hostess while her dad was English. But despite her foreign roots,Michelle says that she is very Kenyan at heart

A man who was killed on the eve of his wedding was buried yesterday in a wedding setting as mourners who gathered to give him a send-off got stunned.

The man died on the eve of his wedding when the car he was driving plunged into a dam in Baringo, killing him instantly while his friend he was with in the car survived.

John Mwangi died on Friday.

The burial ceremony had a wedding setting synonymous with the one they had planned to hold when he was supposed to walk his fiancée down the aisle.

Mwangi leaves behind a widow and two children.

For the last one month, Muslims across the world and especially in Kenya have been observing the Holy month of Ramadan, a month they dedicate to share, show love and forgive every human kind that wrongs them.

And as today marks the climax of the holy month, Muslims across the country have gathered in their places of worship to celebrate Eid Mubarak.

We contacted Nyasuguta to get her side of the story and she said that the reason that her skin is lighter is because she has spent so much time abroad going for medical care after her accident, so it’s probably the weather there. “Relax my skin will go back to the way it used to be with time” she said.

Before adding that “People need to focus on positive things or mind their own business!”
