There are perks to having a famous sibling and Lupita’s younger brother has milked them and has even gotten to meet Beyonce, Ellen De Generes, Jennifer Lawrence and other Hollywood A-Listers.

But there is also the flipside.

Lynda Lopez, Doug Pitt, Solange Knowles and Daniel Depp are just some of the few people who have had their share of the flipside as they live in the shadow of their famous siblings.

They are often spoken about in reference to their  famous sibling and back at home Lupita’s elder sister is exasperated over  living in the shadow of not only her dad Anyang’ Nyong’o, her high-achieving mum but her Oscar-worthy sister Lupita Nyong’o.

Zawadi took to Twitter yesterday to complain about someone asking her if she was Lupita’s mum…eeek!

She was attending a music show  by Malian singer and bass player Moussa Diallo at the Tribe hotel with her famous father Anyang’ when a woman walked up to her asking if she was Lupita’s mum

 “I asked her if I looked that old to her. She said, no no it’s because you look alike. So that makes me her mother? NKT I need a T-shirt ASAP” tweeted Zawadi

Before going on to add:

As in not a single day goes by, no matter where I am (hospital, market, restaurant, street, gym, you name it) without being asked…Not 1”

Kenya is ever on the spotlight for almost all the wrong reasons. From prostitutes threatening to strip naked and demonstrate in the streets of Nairobi when Obama visits to a prominent politician angrily storming out of a live TV interview, all these just define what Kenya and its people is made of.

And the latest incident to cast this great republic into further delusion is a case of a nurse who has thrown lives of 30 children into limbo after injecting them with a deadly injection which left them partially paralysed.

All this is happening at Akichelesit Dispensary in Teso North, Busia County.

According to the head of the dispensary, the nurse is alleged to have administered a malaria injection to the kids leaving them partially paralysed. He has since been suspended to pave way for investigations.

Parents have vowed to push for justice as they claim the authorities are not doing enough to deal with the scandal that has put the health sector in the country on the spotlight.

A war of words between Kenyans and Ugandans erupted on twitter yesterday and caused a mayhem. The tweef was treated with the most memes, with the war raging on to midnight.

And today, it seems the has tag #KOTvsUOT has entered its second day and it is still very much trending on twitter.

Obama’s visit to Kenya is now officially a rubberstamped thing. No doubt about it.

The 44^th president of the USA and of course leader of the free wordl and the most powerful man on earth is returning to Kenya, this time round not as just a senator but as a man who floored his closest competitors to become the first ever black American President.

And ahead of Obama’s visit which is scheduled for next Friday, so much is happening to accord the US President all the security he deserves.

His state-of-the-art security cars have already arrived in the country and the Secret Service is reported to be combing Nairobi and its environments to make sure that as the Global Entrepreneurs Summit kicks off at the KICC, everything is in place and security is tightened.

Kenya has experienced unfortunate incidences of terror attacks, the most acrimonious being the killing of 148 people in Garissa University in April this year.

This means that as Al Shabaab terrorists still pose a threat to our security, much is needed to be done to make the country a safe place as the world visits.

And ahead of Obama’s homecoming, Tanzania President Jakaya Kikwete, a man who has hosted 2 sitting US Presidents during his term in office, has come out to render Kenyans a piece of advice.

Speaking exclusively to Alex Chamwada on his newest show The Chamwada Report, Kikwete has warned that Obama needs massive security and that almost everything comes to a standstill wherever he goes.

For the last several months, there is no one who has been holding their breath and fasting like the Kogello people. Since the news of a visit to Kenya by the most powerful man on earth broke out several months ago, Kogelloans in particular have been bracing themselves for the ‘son of the land’ to at least confirm that he will set foot in the Nyanza region where his grandmother lives.

Mixed versions of Obama’s visit have been doing round the country with some reports indicating he will for sure tour Siaya while others deny this assumption.

Well, just a week to the day the leader of the free world sets foot in Kenya as the ever first sitting US President to touch down in the country, the worst news is that Obama will not go to Kogello.

This was said by US President Bob Godec when he appeared on JKL last evening. Godec said that unless Obama himself decides to visit Kogello, there is no likelihood that he will visit his Grandmother Sarah Obama’s home.

Well, Obama is coming as the US President and not as a grandson of the land. So logistics and schedules can’t allow.

First things first, congratulations to Nairobi Senator, Mike Sonko, for his academic achievements. The flamboyant leader will be graduating tomorrow.

Sonko’s fierce rival, Dr. Evans Kidero, was quick to send congratulatory message to the Nairobi Senator upon learning the lawmaker was graduating.

Baba Saumu welcomed Kidero’s message and went on to urge the youth to take education seriously. Sonko says he was the most notorious student in school because he made his first millions while he was in form 3.

The legislator adds that he didn’t understand the value of education then since he thought money was everything. He says was forced to go back to campus 15 years later after completing high school after realizing education was the key to everything.

First and foremost I take this opportunity to thank my friend and Governor Dr. Evans Kidero for the best wishes ahead of my graduation. The graduation will be held on 18/7/2015 Saturday and not tomorrow Friday, the 17/7/2015 as reported by my Governor on his FB page.

Secondly I would like to thank my family, friends, all the great people of Nairobi whom I serve and Kenyans in general for their continued support and prayers on this long academic journey which will end in my graduation on Saturday with a degree in Business administration.

Thirdly I want to tell my constituents and Kenyans in general that I’m not graduating coz I want to become the Nairobi Governor. I’m not graduating coz I want to please voters in Nairobi to vote for me. This is not the time to ask for elective seats or votes. This is the time to focus on service delivery to the people. You did your part when you voted for us as your leaders. I went back to the campus coz I wanted to have skills in leadership. I will also be pursuing a degree in political science in the near future.

Fourthly I’m urging the youth who are still studying to be serious with your education. Don’t emulate me. I was the most notorious student in school coz I made my first millions when I was in form 3, I thought money was everything but now look, I was forced to go back to the campus almost 15 years after completing my form 4. Imagine if I was serious in pursuing with my studies by that time. Do you think I would be where Iam today? I’m sure by now Kenyans would be referring to me as professor or Doctor Sonko.

My fifth point to you students again bear in mind that EDUCATION IS THE KEY TO YOUR FUTURE. EDUCATION IS THE KEY TO YOUR SUCCESS some of you your parents sacrifice a lot including selling your family properties to ensure you get education so kindly don’t disappoint them. You are the future leaders of this country. Your the future Sonkos and Sonkoreses. You are the future Governors, Senators, Mps, Doctors, Pilots, Engineers etc. so please work hard for your better tomorrow your parents have high hopes in you.

Lastly to you my Governor again Dr. Evans Kidero thanks for the advance wishes. I’m looking forward to work with you for the betterment of Nairobians and a better Nairobi provided we get rid of the main factor of CORRUPTION which is hindering DEVELOPMENT in our great county of NAIROBI CITY. Darwin is said to have turned his alligator lover into a sex slave after it tried to eat him. The gut-wrenching story went viral making Darwin a global sensation.

The Florida resident was apprehended by authority and charged with animal cruelty after it was discovered that he was ruthlessly devouring the said alligator.

Was he or was he not wearing a bulletproof vest while visiting President Uhuru at State House? Kenyans think he was and they are angered by this.

Italian Prime Minister, Matteo Renzi, made his way to Kenya days ago in a rather low tone. His security detail may not be watertight like Obama but they certainly took necessary precautions while visiting the city.

The PM would meet President Uhuru at State House where the two leaders signed a financial agreement totaling to Kes 30 billion for the construction of Itare Dam in Kuresoi.

But that isn’t important for now, the fact that Matteo wore a bulletproof vest in State House is the critical matter at hand.

Controversial blogger, Robert Alai, was among the first Kenyans to blow the whistle on the Italian Prime Minister.

“Italian PM clearly wearing a bullet proof vest while in State House.” Alai wrote as he posted a video showing Matteo’s bulletproof vest while meeting Uhuru.

 Photos taken during Matteo’s visit to the house on the hill show a protruding box-like material in the suit the Italian PM wore.

Was his security detail worried about his safety even when visiting Kenya’s president at his own fortress? But Matteo didn’t wear a bulletproof vest in State House alone, as a matter of fact he had it everywhere he went!

The head of state today met SONU chairman, Babu Owino, at a public function that was held at Serana hotel. Uhuru was however keen to tell Babu to stop scaring his high profile guest that he is expecting on 25^th July.

Babu Owino swept the country by its feet when he came out to reveal his comrades were planning to do despicable things if US President doesn’t visit UoN.

For those that are not reading along the lines, 18 UoN students threatened to commit suicide if Obama doesn’t give a public lecture at their institution while 31 others, female, vowed to pee on trees Obama planted when he visited UoN way back in 2006.

Today during the opening of Japan-Kenya Conference on Infrastructure that was held at Serena hotel, Baba Ngina bumped into Babu Owino.

The President invited Babu for a dinner at State House but not before warning him from issuing threats to his expected visitor, President Barack Obama. Potus is expected to visit Unye at the house on the hill a day after touching down.

Uhuru says Obama is free to visit any institution of higher learning he wishes to.

Four senior Al Shabaab leaders have been killed in a US drone attack in Juungal area of Somalia, according to Kenya’s Ministry of Interior and Coordination of National Government, Standard reports.

Among those killed by the US drone is Gamadhere alias Mohammed Kuno alias Dulyadayn.

Kuno is believed to be the mastermind of the April 1 Garissa University attack which left more than 148 people dead, majority of them Garissa University students.

The attack was one of the deadliest ever on Kenyan soil and it was widely condemned by the international community.

The Interior Ministry spokesperson Mwenda Njoka said on his twitter handle:

“The drone strike that killed Al Shabaab leaders took place Thursday 2am at Juungal area, between Baardheere and Buur Hajje in Somalia”.

The government of Kenya put a bounty on Kuno’s head following the Garissa killings.

They say that hell knows no fury like a woman scorned and man in a coastal town really felt the fist of fury from his wife who brazenly descended upon him in public. 

Treating the neighbors to a domestic spat gone seriously sour.
The couple who are diminutive in stature rained blows on each other and not even a much taller woman could separate the fueling lovebirds.

The man tried throwing furious fists of his own but he was no match for the woman was much quicker and started clobbering him into a pulp. Were it not for the intervention of a crowd of neighbors, this would have gotten pretty ugly as the wife was severely pissed.

Huddah Monroe and Prezzo have over time had zealous drama on social media, with Prezzo firing damning salvos and Huddah Firing back with even worse revelations.

But before it all got ugly, Huddah and Prezzo were thick as thieves…something which the public didn’t know. Huddah says she I met Prezzo on her way to the salon; he had apparently seen her plenty of times stopped her and talked to her.And after that, they became good friends, “we didn’t date or anything.” A statement that is in contradiction to this famous tweet she sent out “Hi.I am VERY happy @TanzaniteG that u and @AMB_Prezzo broke up.I missed my beast in bed.I am on the next flight to Kenya.Thanks dear.Mwaah!

 

“He is just a friend, he has always been my friend, helped me through big brother. I had many problems before and after BBA including rent issues.” She says.

But Prezzo came through, offering her a roof to live under for a while. “He was nice to me, but we were not dating.” Huddah says about the man she claims she owes her fame to.

“I was loyal, I was a ride or die, I cherished our friendship, something he did not make me happy but I put up with it.” She says. But all hell broke loose when Prezzo started treating her like what she calls “a piece of shit.”
“He insulted me.” She says caustically and the fact that he hanged out with her enemies (Vera Sidika) added fuel to the fiery fire and Huddah felt betrayed.

After their very public fight, friendship turned into indifference and they no longer talked but were civil when they met at clubs, they would just say hi to each other and  “keep it moving “

So will their friendship ever recover? Well Huddah does not seem like she is up for it as she says “I don’t throw up and take it back.”

In May 2013, as soon as he was sworn in, Uhuru Kenyatta made a promise to journalists during the World Press Freedom Day at a Media Council event held at the Kenyatta International Conference Centre (KICC).

He said that “My government will fight any attempts to gag the media or any other action that will cripple its operations.”

But as a new report by the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) reveals, the Kenyan media freedom is wanting with journalists being harassed legally i.e. getting threatened with lawsuits for coverage of a story, being terrorized or even physically harassed. The fact that that the advertisers and the so-called political owners are calling the shots only makes the situation shoddier.

Draconian laws have also contributed to the current problem as they have been seen as a way of gagging the media by “undermining self-regulation and for allowing for harsh fines and jail terms for journalists”.

With the Uhuru Regime being described as “one of the most hostile regimes we have seen to press freedom” by one of Standard Groups editor David Ohito.

While the state of affairs is not as bad as Ethiopia and Somalia, it is still ‘a notoriously difficult time for journalists’.

In fact last year in terms of press freedom we have plummeted from position 71 in 2013 to position 90 in the press freedom index, and if the situation becomes graver we could drop even further in 2015.

Allan Namu described the stress as “subtle … but you can feel it” and foresees a future with more “social media mob justice”.

Emily’s year Old Struggle for Life

Emily Atieno Adongo is the 5th born in the family of Mr.Benedict Adongo and Mrs. Linet Aketch. She was born on 28th May 2014 at Pap-Onditi District Hospital through normal birth process and without any complications.

At her birth, Emily seemed healthy though her retarded growth rate worried her parents. She weighed 3.4 Kg at her birth (Which is normal) but only gained 2.1 Kg over 6 months.

At five months, Emily’s parents noticed her irregular breathing pattern which was accompanied with restless, respiratory distress, and becomes hungry every often. This prompted them to seek advice from experienced mothers in their Radienya Village. Unfortunately, not much help was accorded in the village.

The persistence in her condition prompted her mother to visit the local hospital, [Name First Hospital] where she was referred to Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and referral Hospital in Kisumu County.

At Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Hospital, Emily was examined by the doctors who then referred us to Christine Jowi, a cardiologist, and she was diagnosed with heart complication. The news was a shock to the family of 8.

The Gatundu South MP is a man under siege after his lose tongue landed him in trouble once again. Moses Kuria was captured allegedly inciting his Gatundu South constituents to cut anyone opposing the NYS project saying NYS is his militia.

Since the clip emerged online, calls have been made to have the legislator convicted of spreading hate speech. The MP has since been reported to court over the same.

And now Moses Kuria is on the necks of the media after storming out of Citizen TV two days ago when Hussein Mohammed was holding a live interview with him.

The MP has applied for the court to bar the media from covering his case. According to his lawyer, Danson Mungatana, his client has been tried and convicted by the media without fair trial.

This is the same reason why Moses Kuria stormed out of Citizen TV on Tuesday evening.

The Director of Public Prosecutions had applied to have the 2 million bond Moses Kuria paid to be out when he was charged of hate speech be canceled.

The application will be determined on Monday.

Moses Kuria is accusing the media of editing what he said in Gatundu to make him look bad in the face of the public. He has since casually apologized over the same.

His party, TNA, has since disowned his remarks in Gatundu and advised for his prosecution.
