Anyhow, another man in trouble is twitter bigwig Cyprian Nyakundi. Bidco isn’t letting him breathe easy. Recently, Twitter ‘bigwig’ and blogger Cyprian Nyakundi(@c_nyakundi) has found himself in the hottest of waters.

In a series of articles, he decided to channel his inner social justice warrior and take on the biggest privately held company in Kenya, Bidco. He hastily wrote over a dozen articles allegedly exposing wrongdoings from Bidco top brass, but after a few articles, Bidco representatives met up with him to straighten things out. He proceeded to try and extort them for 50 million shillings(yes, 50 million) to remove the story and even acknowledged in leaked audios of the meeting, that his stories were fake. Bidco refused to bow to the dreamy whims of this twenty-something year old blogger, and in turn have sued Nyakundi for defamation just last week.

Now the pressure is on Nyakundi. From the court documents, it appears Bidco has reason to believe that billionaire Rendeavour CEO Stephen Jennings offered various influential tweeps including Nyakundi, a paltry 8,000KShs  to spread the defamatory Bidco stories. Twitter personality @ramzzy_ revealed that he saw this offer and smartly calculated the risk vs reward. It simply doesn’t add up. 8k in exchange for a potential lawsuit? Most would say

 

 

Even a mere tweep such as Nyakundi should have had the foresight to ask if he would be prepared to defend himself in a fight between billionaires if the shit hit the fan. It has become clear from his desperate actions in the last few weeks that he isn’t.

Add  to that the old saying that there is no honor among thieves. If someone you get in beef alongside someone corrupt, you’re on your own! Going against the corporate powers that be, you better be sure your story is airtight. With Nyakundi, he made the very basic blunder of not contacting the affected party(Bidco) to assure that he had their side of the story. Instead he goaded Bidco at the end of all his stories. “Come baby come,” so to speak. In the true spirit of the dishonourable thief, Nyakundi also tried to play his financier and Bidco against each other. He proposed that Bidco match a secret figure that Jennings had allegedly put on the table. Now see his life. Turns out he was just but a mere pawn in a grandmaster chess game. Stephen Jennings is a billionaire, he probably has his bases covered. He is safe. Nyakundi is now the sacrificial lamb headed to slaughter. The only thing he has to defend himself now is hashtags. That’s right. Hashtags are his first and last defense.

 

 

But hashtags won’t save him now. The matter has moved from the court of public opinion to the court of law. Here are the documents listing the charges from Bidco’s legal team:

Now it’s about mustering a good legal and financial defence, two things that appear scant for Nyakundi in this case. Perhaps the hand of God shall intervene in this matter. That is his only real hope as of now. May this serve as a cautionary tale for my fellow bloggers having trouble harnessing their newfound powers.

So Yego won. Been old news for a minute there. But aside from his Qatar deal and millions he pocketed, let’s for a minute think about the Kamau, Lemashon in the village struggling to get somewhere. The bible tells us we don’t wait for miracles but work towards what we want, so how does that individual in the rural area work towards achieving their goals?

We’ll sing and cry ‘serikali saidia’, but government’s big fish daent give a rat ass about you! They have their own to deal with, but what if we have a youth ministry? A ministry that’s main purpose to exist is to serve the youth. If I can break it down, the Youth Ministry will will help the government to

1.      Audit the development of its youth,   

2.      Mend the broken link within youth.

3.      Bridge the gap between the state actors and the youths

4.      Identify significant social life events within the Kenyan youths (i.e, what leads our youths to be radicalized, what kind of behaviors university students are engaging in i.e the Garissa attack and 2 students in UON being killed etc),

5.      The supports youths needed and strengths within Kenyan youth, private logic and coping strategies, and

6.      Goals for growth in regard to as developing oneself as a youth in our motherland

So it will provide alternatives methods for dealing with challenges youth are facing. It can be incharge of researching on how youth develop in the country, and where should the government foster positive programs and improve individual youth growth.

An independent youth ministry can oversee, Uwezo funds, Youth Enterprise Development Funds and also the Procurement Services or tenders allocated to the youth in all counties and other parastatles. The ministry could be stepping in to help the government by engaging youths in conflicts resolution and involving them in the process of solving problems and finding solutions.

A good youth Audit will provide evidence-based hypotheses about the behavior of a Kenyan youth and a roadmap to restorative goals and positive growth of our youth.

Christopher Mark Seid, the CMD of Youth Chair “To ensure and promote the development of youths in our country and model them into responsible and patriotic citizens.”

Evans Chege, the Director of Communication Youth Senate “To formulate policies that outlines and protect youth interest.”

Antony Kipngetich, Boment County Senators Aspirant “The interests of the youth are many and peculiar. It is practically impossible to have them addressed alongside other interests. Having a youth ministry is therefore inevitable.”

Merging youth issues under the ministry of devolution was a quick fix. There’s no certain quick fix when it comes to youth matters. The risks are high, CS Waiguru should be focusing other devolution agendas now, but instead, she has been brought to a halt due to NYS allegations hence slowing the process of development.

According to President URP Youth Congress / President Youth Senate, Gordon Keter “Jubilee Government IS requesting for the Youth Ministry”.

Regardless of the political innovations of including youths in every ministry, the risk is still high.  The manifesto of Jubilee government, youth matters was widely discussed, the fact that our leaders were also youthful made it easier for Kenyans to vote in Jubilee government. The reality is that we need to go back to the old method set up independent ministry for youth. The youth politics becomes easier as we progresses if the President focus on building a foundation of economic development of youth within the government.

Youth involvement in our country development can only get mental shift, if the youth space is built through setting up youth ministry. And in order to build hope in Kenyan youth, we need our matters be handled properly and the objectivity of facing reality is through change reality. I believe this will help the government handle security of our youth.

Kenyan celebs made their way to Nyayo National Stadium to show support to Harambee Stars who didn’t reciprocate in terms of results.

Yesterday the national team locked horns with Zambia’s national football team, Chipolopolo, who made mincemeat of Harambee Stars at our own home turf.

The king of comedy made his intentions clear recently in Nakuru during ‘Hamo homecoming’ show and he revealed to his fans that he will be launching his own TV station sometime next year.

This employer of several other comedians in the vast entertainment industry is setting his eyes on things above as he no longer wants to be smaller than his peers.

15 whole years in the industry is not a walk in the park and Dan Ndambuki can attest to this. He has coiled and twinned his way up till getting this far, budding talents here and there along the way.

Things have now taken a different turn and the Luo elders have said they are not going to make peace with the activist’s audacity of hate, saying that he had no apparent reason for spewing hate against the community.

Ngunyi had earlier on offered a goat for a peace offering to appease the Luo elders, who have so far refused claiming that the goat could bring a bad omen to the entire fraternity.

It seems the political activist will have to personally appear before the community’s ‘ICC’ to be pronounced guilty as charged before he is forgiven.

Close to half a dozen jobs were lost last week at Nation Media Group including those of high-profile presenters like Sanaipei Tande, Sheila Mwanyigha and Obinna.

Most of them have allegedly been cut following the shocking losses after Digital Migration

The presenters including Anto Neo Soul announced that they would be leaving the business after building their name in the Kimathi Street-based media house causing their fans to panic and become angry .Others have bemoaned the loss of these media bigwigs calling it the end of Nation F.M.

 

But not everyone is complaining about the presenters leaving/getting fired from Nation F.M. Tim Njiru of ‘ The Ideal Space’ who has been in the media for a long time has come out to applaud the firing. Saying that even Bonoko is better than the lot that was sent off…Ouch. Talk of being ice-cold.

Whoever yanked those “musicians” from radio did a great job at Nation FM 96.3. You need a real and trained radio presenter to do radio. Classroom Qualifications aside, it’s also worth noticing that Bonoko of Ghetto radio is more authentic in how he delivers his show on radio. He has the right attitude & plus quite teachable.

Radio is more about content. It needs the right vehicle to deliver the content home.

The Nollywood movies and soap operas enthusiast

This couch potato mboch spends all day watching ‘Oga’ movies and Mexican telenovelas. She’s the reason KPLC keep making huge profits. She’s so good at this kind of thing that she can predict what’s going to happen next. She’ll say “Aki Alehandro atakiss Marimar. Sikudaganyi. Ngoja tu five minutes uone.” Five minutes later…Boom! Maina Kageni has gotten some serious backlash from Kenyans especially men for his apparent crime against men that is siding too much with women. He has been accused of defending women too much thus making them ‘spoilt’ with his detractors claiming that he shouldn’t speak since he is not married.

This time he is the recipient of harsh critics for what is apparently a touchy topic, the issue of men showing up with nothing buy condoms to a woman’s place. This discussion stemmed from Orie Rogo Manduli who said that women should always slam the door if a man shows up with nothing but a condom in hand.

Speaking to the Nairobian, Orie Said that, men who showed up with only a packet of condoms at your door at classless and the only thing they deserve is the door slammed in their faces.

“Flatten his nose with door if possible. That’s like calling a woman a prostitute. Such men should just go to brothels with their condoms and they would still use money.” she said clearly beside herself with anger.

A comment that has been backed up by Maina Kageni

“Over the weekend Orie Rongo Manduli was advising women that they should stop entertaining men who only visit them with nothing but condoms.

In my opinion it’s only right to visit someone with a gift even if you pay for the rent or whatever bills.

It’s the hallmark of a gentleman to treat a woman right. You cannot just visit a woman with nothing and expect to enjoy the food she cooks, watch the dstv she has paid for etc.

A gentleman should always bring a gift and condoms do not count as gifts. Carry something proper and as for you ladies stop accepting such mediocre men as Orie put it.

I’d like to know you thoughts and you may also share your experiences. Does your man bring you gifts every time they visit?” he wrote.

A statement that seems to have stirred the hornet’s nests with furious men calling in and saying that a woman should appreciate that the man even bothers to visit. That beggars cannot be choosers.

And as shocking and as offensive as this comment sounds there are those actually throwing their weight behind this seriously chauvinistic comment.

Janet Mbugua has sadly been the recipient of harsh criticism and unwarranted bashing for anchoring news while heavily pregnant.

Something which has not happened before as most anchors leave the screens as soon as they start showing.

Her act has been described as ‘gross and indecent” by some while others say this is an act of valor with others going ahead to say that Janet actually looks sexier pregnant.

And one of them is the resident Rabble-rouser Robert Alai who is known for bashing news anchors, but it seems that she has a soft spot for the Citizen TV news anchor

Many know him as a popular Facebook figure and thanks to his controversial political updates and thanks to a Citizen TV expose last night many know him for something rather unsavory, they know him as a rapist.

This is all thanks to an incriminating online clip that showcases him molesting a sedated patient. Dr Wairimu a gynecologist operating from clinics in Zimmerman and Githurai stands accused of drugging and raping his clients.

The clip is now backed by firsthand accounts of him sedating and taking advantage of his patients in the pretext that he was treating them. When given a chance to speak on live TV and defend himself, he chickened out and opted to use social media to defend himself.

Writing this:

“Be sure to watch this choreographed pornography in citizen in ten minutes or so…” he wrote before adding this a few hours later “I still say no to prosecution by/ through the media. I say a big no to blackmail. Period.”

Citizen TV’s exposé on the gynecologist who rapes his patients by sedating them has sparked national outcry; more disturbing revelations concerning the knucklehead keeps on surfacing!

Professional rapist, Dr. Mugo Wa Wairimu, was caught pants down doing the unthinkable to an innocent patient who had sought treatment from his facility.

While the nation was utterly taken aback by his nauseating action, it wasn’t the first time the quack had been put on the spot for forcing himself into his patients.

Robert Alai had exposed him many months ago but because he lacked videographic evidence, Kenyans were quick to discredit him.

Following Citizen TV’s exposé last night, the whistleblower went on rampage disclosing more information showing Dr, Mugo wasn’t only a rapist but a hate speech propagandist and a lousy hypocrite.

Last year, Mugo tweeted to express his frustration following increased cases of rape. He was rooting for castration as the best option for punishing rapists. Kumbe he was only a rapist who thought he was smart enough to rape women and never to be caught!

Mugo has also been hurling dangerous words that pose a threat to Kenya’s national cohesion and integration.

Mugo now faces double tragedy; there is enough evidence to charge him in a court of law for two counts; rape and hate speech.

The French Embassy in Nairobi has finally acknowledged Boniface Mwangi was mistreated at Paris airport and they have gone further to ‘bribe’ the Rights Activist.

A few days ago, Boniface took to the social media to narrate his predicament in France. The Activist was decrying harassment and humiliation by French authorities.

After spending a night on cold chairs at Paris airport, the Pawa 254 founder managed to fly back to Kenya on board the national courier.

Upon arrival, Boniface disclosed the offer the French Embassy had laid on table for him. They apologized for his ordeal in France and they want him to pay their country a visit one more time.

The French Embassy has given the Right Activist visas to France but Boniface has turned them down, not unless they foot his travel expenses of course.

He says the French should borrow a leaf from Kenya, which offered a US teen mistaken for a British terrorist, free trip to the 254 after harassing him.

Now that’s a nice apology!

The past weekend was a bad chapter in the life of the MOST philanthropic politician ever known in the history of Kenya!

Nairobi Senator, Mike Sonko, first raised the alarm about his father’s condition on Saturday requesting Kenyans to send in their prayers.

Mr. Gideon Kioko Kivanguli, Sonko’s dad, had been admitted to Intensive Care Unit at a Nairobi hospital that Saturday.

The lawmaker didn’t immediately divulge what was ailing his dad who was all healthy just late July. Mr. Kioko was seen in a viral video dancing all night long following Sonko’s graduation.

As fate would have it, Sonko’s father passed on the following day at around 8 PM. The Nairobi Senator gathered the little strength left in him and broke the sad news.

Sonko wrote 50 touching words following his dad’s death;

“Dear Kenyans and watu wangu nyote in general I thank each and every one of you for your prayers during my Dad’s sickness. We all loved him but GOD loved him more than us. Mzee has just left us. Continue praying for our family and all those in similar situations.”

The adage has it that misfortunes don’t come singly and for blogger Cyprian Nyakundi they must be coming in bundles this year. The controversial blogger is still smarting from the Safaricom defamation suit against him, his exposed attempts to extort 40 million from BIDCO and the subsequent charges from the company.

In documents obtained from BIDCO Africa Limited lawyers, the defamation charges Nyakundi faces result from his series of stories he published on his blog as an investigative piece on alleged BIDCO activities in Uganda and later promoted the same in his tweets under #BIDCOExposed. The open letter was copied to leading media houses in the region and the Kenya and Uganda Presidents.

In their suit, BIDCO and its CEO Vimal Shah say the message in the series was meant and was understood to mean that they (BIDCO & Vimal Shah)  “are land grabbers, are ruthless imperialists, are involved in corrupting the Ugandan Government, have no regard for human rights, take advantage of the downtrodden’’ among other things. These are accusations which the Plaintiffs say are not true allegedly or at all.

It appears this time round the rabble rousing blogger has bitten off more than he could chew and it remains to be seen how the matter will be resolved.

Kenyans on Twitter (KOT) has a reputation of tearing whoever whenever and as such, it’s treated with apprehension by most folks. UoN VC is however lauding KOT. But why??

KOT has today earned praise from an unlikely quarter. University of Nairobi’s Vice-Chancellor has spoken highly of KOT.

Today is a special day for Kenya’s leading public university. UoN held a colorful 53rd Graduation Ceremony!

The graduation was a hot top on social media, it was trending first on twitter for the better part of today.

#uongraduation gained traction thank to KOT. The dreaded lynch bandwagon was busy beating the drum for UoN graduation that they attracted the attention of Prof. Peter M.F. Mbithi, the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Nairobi.
