Pregnant Nakuru Woman Throws Herself To An Oncoming Lorry In The Presence Of Her Boyfriend After He Disowned The Baby… She Was Smashed Flat (Warning Graphic Photos)

Ladies please when a man impregnates you and he refuses to take responsibility, don’t kill yourself because the bustard will just move on with the next girl.

This advice came rather late to a Nakuru girl who decided to end her prestigious life because some knucklehead refused to own up to the aftermath of eating the forbidden fruit without using condom.

A girl only known as Muthoni shocked Nakuru residents after she decided to commit suicide in broad daylight.

The lady chose to end her life using one of the crudest methods in book; she threw herself to an oncoming truck and she was smashed flat on the tarmac.

Reports indicate that Muthoni had gone to the church in company of her boyfriend. After the service, she broke the news about her pregnancy to her sweetheart only to be met by a response that shattered her heart, spirit and soul with the same magnitude.

Utterly agitated and frustrated, Muthoni opted for the quickest way out of her quandary, she settled for suicide.

She threw herself to an oncoming lorry and what followed was a scene that you shouldn’t dare take a look at if you are fainthearted.

Waluhya Na Chakula!! Shock As Sirisia MP Addresses The Media To Protest Bitterly After He Was Served Tea Without Milk In Parliament (Video)

The key to a Luhya man’s heart is food. And when you deny Sirisia Member Of Parliament milk in his tea, then that’s a deliberate provocation.

Is the Kenyan Parliament undertaking unpublicized austerity measures? Legislators are forced to drink strong tea as milk seems to a rare ‘luxury’ in the August House, at least Sirisia MP Honorable John Walukhe revealed so.

The legislator addressed members of the fourth estate to decry being served tea without milk and food without salt. Now you understand why MPs had to travel abroad to learn how to prepare good food after complaining that Parliament’s food wasn’t good enough.

Anyway, Hon. Walukhe says he bought the strong tea for Kes 100. Unbelievable, black tea for 100 bob! Such an injustice ehhh!!!

He cleared High School in 2002 and within a span of 13 years, he’s a multi-millionaire with properties in Nairobi and Thika.

All attention in the lost NYS millions has shifted from former embattled Devolution Cabinet Secretary, Anne Waiguru, to one businessman Ben Gethi.

The 31-year-old has came to the forefront after revelations that he is the biggest beneficiary of the National Youth Service (NYS) scam that led to the loss of Sh791 million.

Of the 791 million lost, Mr. Gethi is accused of stealing Kes 585 million in a single day. How did the small fish beat big fish to get away with the biggest chunk??

KOT has been on the neck of Mr. Gethi with some suggesting all of his properties should be sold and the money given to charity.

So how did Gethi spent the said stolen millions? Gethi’s mother has been named as the owner of Kes 45 million plot in Muthaiga North. She is also listed as the owner of a Kes 35 million plot registration in Thika town and a Kes 63 million house in Rossyln estate.

His mother and sister are also jointly listed as the owners of the Eden Times Restaurant in Mercury building on Moi avenue in Nairobi valued at Kes 16 million.

Jaguar declared 2015 in his song ‘Huu Mwaka’ to be the year he was to excel and surely he’s truly conquering.

In yet another exclusive story reaching us, Kenya’s most successful artiste has worked with South Africa’s top musicians, Mafikizolo.

According to reliable sources close to Jaguar, the single has already been recorded and what awaits is the video before it drops. However, MainSwitch, the production house for Jaguar, has remain tight-lipped about the song.

When Ghafla! tried to seek more information regarding the song, MainSwitch stable wasn’t ready to divulge any information saying, “We cannot reveal anything about our client as at now”.

It will be interesting to note that at the moment, Tanzanian crooner, Diamond Platnumz is shooting the video for the single he has done with Mafikizolo.

Decapitated Bodies… Bodies In The Streets… Dead People Everywhere… Graphic Photos Depicting the Gruesome Violence In Burundi (Warning)

Thank God for the peace in Kenya. Brothers and sisters in the neighboring Burundi are being slaughtered like animals.

Fighting in Burundi has resulted to the death of over 600 people and another 220,000 displaced. Sporadic violence and assassinations is the order of the day in the tiny East African nation.

The government has been accused of killing dissidents who oppose President Pierre Nkurunziza’s regime.

The President amended the constitution to extent his two year term and ever since Burundi has seen no peace.

Last week, a spat of violence in the nation’s capital, Bujumbura, left 87 people dead and many other injured.

Many didn’t think the situation was dire until photos of the violence in Burundi started trickling in. It’s worse than Kenya’s 2007/8 post poll chaos.

STRANGE WORLD: Angry Spirit Causes Coffin to Burst Into Flames, Burning the Deceased in Kakamega County

Villagers in Enyapora in Mumias central, Kakamega County are still buzzing about a strange incident that happened in their usually quite town.

An incident where a coffin exploded, throwing the coffin’s lid to a distance and the body compulsively going up in flames.

The villagers speculate that the reason for this bizarre occurrence was because the deceased, 66 year Old Evelyn Were Ndombi died with bitterness towards her husband. Their marriage is a said to have been very turbulent to the extent that Evelyn’s husband broke her hand during a fight.

Before her death, Evelyn’s husband started building her a house, but before he completed the house, she passed away and her husband completed the house after her death.

Apparently, the late Evelyn was not too pleased with the house which is also where her body was stored during the vigil and that is when the casket went KABOOM leaving the superstitious villagers in utter and complete terror.

Hostile Gospel: Gospel Star Throws Major Shades At Bahati And Willy Paul For CONFUSING Christian Faithful

“Between Jesus and ministry or entertainment and showbiz, I openly challenge my brothers Bahati and Willy Paul, let’s not deceive each other or mislead God’s people.” The plea of a distressed Gospel singer.

Too many controversies surround Willy Paul and his rival Bahati. Apparently artists within the gospel fraternity have also been questioning the two musicians’ commitment to the Ministry.

Talk of being accused of having s3x with socialite Pendo at KICC ground, beating and forcing girlfriend to abort etc ect, Willy Paul knows it all.

For Bahati, he woke up and indirectly accused Daddy Owen of sidelining a blind gospel singer in revenue generated from ‘Mbona’ even when he didn’t have the slightest idea of how Papa Fololo committed the said crime, typical of a confused child.

Anyway, L Jay Maasai is sick and tired of Bahati and his adversary Willy Paul. The ‘Laleiyo’ hit maker is accusing the two of confusing the flock with their constant brawl. L Jay urged Bahati and Willy to get their priorities right.

I SAY NO TO WORLDLY SIDESHOWS I will not Let Worldly Sideshows confuse my Ministry… #MYMINISTRYISFORHISGLORYONLY Because When ministry becomes performance, then the sanctuary becomes a theater, the congregation becomes an audience, worship becomes entertainment, and man’s applause and approval become the measure of success. But when ministry is for the glory of God, his presence moves into the sanctuary. Even the unsaved visitor will fall down on his face, worship God, and confess that God is among us (1 Corinthians 14:25) #ONLY #FOR #HIS #GLORY ☆☆☆☆☆ Jeremiah 15:9 I hope my Brothers nd Sisters in the ministry choose wisely. Between JESUS & MINISTRY or ENTERTAINMENT & SHOWBIZ I openly Challenge my brothers @Bahatikenya and @willypaulmsafi Lets Not Deceive each other or mislead Gods people. Lets get our priorities right. This is not to claim that i am perfect but its about time someone spoke for your maltitude of fans nd followers who are confused to a point of comparing your “beef” / “drama” to that of TeamKiba and TeamDiamond (your calling is not similar to theirs) Allow me to point out that Their is a deep scar in the Gospel fraternity. May God forgive us and lead us to the path of rightiousness. 2Chronicles 7:14 Psalms 2:11 #GospelMusicIsAlive #SoisJesusChrist

Here Is The 31 Year Old Who Blew 585 Million In Just A Few Months In Houses And A Range Rover

While some people can only dream of making certain amounts of money in a year, others are blowing up ten even 100 times more that some of money in a matter of a few months by just simple signatures.

Ben Gethi, is a 31 year old businessman from Nyeri who has quite a name as one of the leading ‘tenderpreneurs’ in the government procurement circles. His name has been in controversy in the past but it is the unrelenting ghosts of the NYS which have seen him gain national prominence and possible jail time after it emerged he was the recipient of about 585 million fraudulently.

Of course there is no way he pulled this alone but the audacity of him doing this and the speed through which he spent it, it just flabbergasting.

In a nut shell, this is where much of the 585 million went to; A house in Rossyln Estate valued at 63million, Muthaiga North Property 43million, Eden Times Restaurant 16million, Range Rover Vogue 23,480,000.

All these were listed in the name of his mother. The young businessman also decided to buy the luxurious Range Rover Autobiography valued at 23million. Most of the other assets were in cash form deposited in numerous bank accounts for him or his proxies. Here is the man himself

Huddah Monroe’s Controversial Ex-Sponsor Moves On. Meet His Gorgeous and “Bootylicious” Mzungu Lady (Photos)

It’s clear that King Lawrence (Huddah Monroe’s ex-boyfriend/ ex-sponsor) has a type.

He likes them, slender, good-looking and with a little junk in the trunk, not too much, just enough.

After his ugly spat with Huddah and her cohort Zari Hassan, King Lawrence has been kind of quiet and no longer engages in scandalous social media spats as much as he used to. As it turns, he has been kept busy by a beautiful South African babe by the name Rose and with such a woman keeping you on your toes; you simply do not have time to waste on pettiness.

This Little Girl Has Been Moving The Whole Nation To Tears Since Last Week…Look Inside And Know Why She Wants You Badly.

When he first sent me that email,I will admit I didn’t even open it. Leave alone read it. On my line of duty,I receive many mails daily… Most of which, given that I am a showbiz blogger, center around music and the arts and the desire for publicity.

So when I received this mail, with a title about medical finds and stuff,I breezed through it. And opened the next mail telling me what I actually wanted to read; A new exquisite strip club along Ngong Road that was now hosting debauched lesbian nights every Friday evening.

That is what I love to read. Not appeals over medical or social issues…I thought.

But he didn’t relent. Realizing that I had not replied his earlier mail,he sent another. And another. And another.

In total,Kennedy Omondi had sent me roughly 8 mails over a period of three weeks all of which I had ignored before he decided to show up in the Ghafla office himself.

And at around 10.17am,someone walked right up to me,bent over and whispered ‘I want to talk to a writer….’

I looked him up quickly, pasted something I had already copied on the writing pad and minimized my computer window.

‘Ati? What do you want!? ‘

‘To speak to a writer. This is Ghafla right? ‘ he said in a soft voice, his politeness pouring out into the air.

‘Yes. It is Ghafla..’ I said pointing to Irari the Ghafla editor.

‘Talk to him. He’s the editor… ‘

Ken,clad in some sandals and a oversize shirt that clang over his bony body like a torn flag, walked over to the editor.

His face was gaunt and eyes tired. He carried with him a brown envelope and was wearing a pair of some faded blue jeans whose hem was tearing off and with a belt that had been wrapped and used way too many times.

I went back to my business… Back to typing some article I was working on before leaving for some other job.

I had barely typed a sentence before Ken,politely, walked right up to me again.

‘He’s told me to talk to you… ‘ he, again, whispered… His sorry eyes seeming to placate me. His voice pertinent and body language urgent.

‘Bro… I’m writing… What’s the issue please? Irari… You couldn’t solve this? ‘ I said,impatiently turning to Irari.

‘But he says he has been emailing you… ‘ Irari said, confused.

‘Fine. What’s the issue bro? What’s up? ‘ I asked, barely liking up from the computer, afraid my train of thought would be wrecked.

‘OK.. I’m Ken. Kennedy Omondi… I’ve sent you many emails… About a child who… ‘

‘Wait… You’re the one who’ve been sending me emails about some medical appeal thing!?’ I asked, looking at him.

‘Yes. It’s Me…’ he said. Smiling weakly and attempting to sit next to me.

‘Sure. Sit. Sit…. Wait… Can I first publish this article!? ‘ I asked, quickly pressing some keys.

‘Sure. Sure bro. No problem. Can I wait outside?’ He asked, rising up and wanting to walk out.

He seemed to think that he was a bother. An unwelcome intrusion. And a waste of everyone’s time.

‘No… No… No… Sit. Just sit… I’ll be with you in a minute… ‘ I said,pulling the chair towards him.

Sighing,he sank into the chair. His face sombre and I could almost feel the nervousness breaking out of him. Silently,he clutch on to the brown envelope… His fingers still fidgeting.

And in 10 minutes,I was done editing and publishing an article. And then I turned to him.

He managed a simple smile; one that still betrayed his sorrow and unease. His pain and anxiety.

And that’s when he started… He started telling me the story…

The story about the many times he’d attempted to reach me and get my attention for something that was now going out of control…

11057776_946685998739328_4366945418601712145_n.jpg

The story about how he’d been living with his little niece, who was now 1 and a half years old and who,to this minute, had not yet started eating or crawling or mumbling. And who also had not quit breastfeeding…

The story about her birth… And her name…

Emily is a young girl who has not yet seen her second birthday but is already more troubled and has been in and out of hospitals many times than I have in all of my years into adulthood…

I took a pen and paper… And let Ken talk on… His eyes close to welling up. And his face wearing a whole new mask of optimism and hope…

Little Emily was born on 28th May 2014 as the last born in a healthy but humble family of five . But after sometime, her doting parents Benedict Adongo and Linet Aketch noticed that the little girl’s growth was stunted…

She,for instance, wasn’t adding any kilos and even after six full months, she gained a measly 2 kilograms on top of the normal 3.4kg she was weighing at birth.

And at five months,Emily’s parents noticed her irregular breathing pattern which was accompanied with restlessness, acute respiratory distress and the fact that she had started becoming unusually hungry every so often.

This prompted them to seek advice from experienced mothers in their Radienya Village and unfortunately ,not much help was accorded in the village especially from these bunch of women who were evidently new to this condition and weren’t exactly experts on how to deal with such an occurrence.

The persistence in her unusual condition prompted her mother to visit the local hospital where she was referred to Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and referral Hospital in Kisumu County.

At Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Hospital,Little Emily was examined by the doctors who then referred the parents to a Christine Jowi,a renowned cardiologist.

Hoping against hope, Mr. and Mrs. Adongo were able to honor the appointment with Dr. Jowi at Hurlingham Hearts Clinic in Nairobi for further examination. And needless to say,the news was nothing better. Little Emily had a severe heart condition. It was officially stamped.

The news was a complete blow to the humble family of 7. Heart complications, they knew, were the worst news you could probably get regarding your child. And anyway,Little Emily was now officially suffering from a dreaded heart condition.

Emily could only be saved through open heart surgery which is not offered in Kenya.

11219730_948307591910502_3140838517614089541_n.jpg

Things were so bad that Dr. Jowi had to immediately write an Urgent Letter to Kenyatta Hospital… Outlining Emily’s struggles, manner of illness and calling for her urgent treatment. In India.

Here actually is a snippet of the long letter, riddled with cryptic medical jargon that Dr. Jowi drafted for the Kenyatta Hospital.

‘The above patient was referred to me from the Jaramogi Oginga Teaching and Referral hospital on 17/11/2014 for evaluation of a systolic murmur heard while she was undergoing treatment for bronchopneumonia in their facility.
When I saw her she was a sick looking child who was small for age with a weight of 5.3kg. She was diagnosed with systemic desaturations of 85-88% oxygen on room air……….Baby Emily suffers from complex congenital heart disease namely type 1 truncus arteriousus, large secundum atrial septal defect, with severe pulmonary hypertension…… Baby Emily requires urgent surgical intervention mainly open heart surgery which involves Homograft reconstruction of the right ventricular outflow tract and patch closure of the ventricular and atrial septal defect. This should be done on an urgent basis before irreversible pulmonary hypertension sets in…….Homograft surgery involves use of human tissue which we are unable to offer locally due to legislative constraints. It is with this in mind that I recommend surgery in India which is cheaper than other centres especially western countries……… ‘

‘Armed with that letter,we set off on our arduous journey of finding urgent treatment for this little one…. ‘ Ken continued, his voice now almost completely gone and looking tired of even narrating the whole story. Over and over again.

‘So what did you do next? After learning of her terminal condition?’ I asked, putting my notebook aside.

‘We embarked on an immediate plan to save her and her life… This year has been hell…

Her parents and I knocked on almost every door. We tried contacting Mike Sonko… Kidero… Uhuru Kenyatta. We approached each and every media house with this story… Hoping they’d listen and enable us raise the Ksh. 1.5 million needed for the heart surgery in India…

And to be very honest with you, all of these media houses ignored us except QTV and Family TV.

I took my story to QTV around June 2015 and they were welcoming. Dr. Jowi even accompanied me to QTV for the interview… I’ve never seen a more dedicated doctor… She has been like Emily’s mother since then…

And after we appeared on QTV,we were then connected to Family TV from where Emily’s story was told even further. And with those two interviews,we managed to raise as much as Ksh. 140,000. And that was the start of Emily’s healing. It was. It was….

‘So what exactly do you want Ken? What do you really want people to do for you!? ‘ I asked, puffing out and touched.

Ken told me what he needed. Told me that Emily needed a Christmas cheer. A Christmas card worth only Ksh. 1.5 Million.
‘So you guys need Ksh. 1.5 million for Emily’s India trip and treatment?’

‘Yes… 1.5 million. ‘

‘Just that? ‘

‘Yes. Just that Cabu Gah. 1.5 million. That’s all….’.

11221474_946943712046890_5310089143211643980_n.jpg

Ken was now really almost speechless. Unsure whether he’d find help. Unsure whether I was the right person to be talking to. Unsure whether I would even follow up. Unsure I’d even bother do the article.

I looked at him hard and said in one resolve, ‘Ken,I am Cabu Gah. I used to run a Facebook page and 90% of what I did was raise funds. I don’t have the page no more. But we have God. And we have caring humans. If they care, they’ll change your daughter’s life. In a snap….’

Ken’s face lit up.

‘Yes. I mean it. It’s Christmas. Millions of Kenyans are about to spend thousands upon thousands of shillings in bars and clubs. Including me. We will set aside a few beers for your daughter this holiday. We will. I will…. ‘

Kenyans,I ask you, with a humbled heart and a deep conviction, to kindly step in for Emily.

She needs a Christmas cheer. A Christmas card. A Christmas gift…. Not just for this Christmas but for the rest of her life.

Baby Emily needs ONLY Ksh. 1.5 million for a surgery in India.
I hadn’t planned to spend my Christmas with some strange girl I don’t even know. But I am forgoing a few beers, a few meals and a few clothes for her.
I guess this is what Christmas means. And I have heeded the call of the Lord.

Heed it too,I ask. Heed it please.

‘Can you get me better photos of Emily? Clearer photos please? As soon as possible?’ I asked Ken before he left. “Yes. I am travelling to the village by Friday. Can you wait please?”

‘Sure. And all the best…’

To DONATE TO BABY Emily kindly use the M-PESA Paybill Number Medical Paybill No. 317111

Also, you can donate via Emily’s special medical BANK account which is Acc number: 10131301000369 Emily Atieno Adongo Medical Account. Bank is CONSOLIDATED BANK.

Nairobi Diaries’ Star Marjolein Blokland Is A Brilliant Pole Dancer. Check Out Her Enviable Skills On The Pole (Photos)

After about 2 years of waiting, Nairobi Diaries finally found a home at K24 .And yesterday was the first time it went live on air.

The program received a strong reception from the public, not necessarily positive one, but a strong one all the same, the kind of reception that made Tujuane such a success, the kind of reception that increases the ratings. The show may have left a lot to be desired, but I am sure Kenyans will be tuning in religiously, even if it is just to hate later. Either way, people will be tuned in and we all know that in the TV business is all about the numbers!

k24_nairobi_diaries.jpg

The star of the show was expected to be Vera Sidika, but she was kind of overshadowed by the towering Marjolein Blokland and that Gertrude Boven who I have a feeling is the one to watch out for. That girl knows sure knows how to stir up some drama!

While most of the stars are socialites or in campus, Marjolein is a personal trainer and a Pole Dance Fitness expert and this girl can honestly work a pole. Check her out in action next:

Sad! Ahmed Darwesh’s Empty Desk At KTN Still Has His Prayer Mat, The Holy Quran And His Sandals (Photos)

It’s now dawning on KTN employees that Ahmed Darwesh isn’t coming back to fill his desk. His screaming absence is being felt by his workmates!

The body of the fallen KTN anchor has been flown to the Coastal City of Mombasa where he’s to be laid to rest today.

His colleagues at the Mombasa Road based media house are feeling his absence and they are wishing things could be reversed.

The management at KTN is yet to clear the deceased’s work station. His personal belongings are still intact as he left them.

Ahmed’s empty desk at KTN is a revelation of his dedication to his faith. The Holy Quran, prayer mat and his sandals are conspicuously visible on his desk.

Opinion Poll: This Is How You Can Rate President Uhuru’s Performance

The President has been in power for close to three years. As a youth, what do you think the commander in Chief has done for you or ought to have done?

Most of you who have been through Kenya’s universities are all too aware with AIESEC. The youth – led organization is on a mission to take youth voice to decision makers and influencers; governments, businesses, universities, media, NGOs, thought leaders, experts etc etc.

AIESEC is running a global initiative dubbed YouthSpeak Survey which is a worldwide insight survey by the youth for youth. It aims to gather youth perspective about the present and their vision for the future.

AIESEC is looking to understand what young people in Kenya care about, what they are passionate about and how they would like to be engaged over issues that matter to them.

This is why the organization is seeking the youth’s voice in the survey it’s conducting. It is not just any survey, but a movement aimed to shine a spotlight on the issues that matter, create awareness and generate action.

Do you think the government is putting enough infrastructures in place to eradicate the issue of street families in Kenya?

Let your voice be heard, click on the link below to air your voice:

Lupita Has Gained Weight And She Looks Super-Hot During ‘The Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ World Premier! (Photos)

Lupita Nyong’o had some ‘forces awakening’ after she strutted delicately on the red carpet looking all rounded and radiant in a spectacular sequin floor length gown and Chopard earrings. This was at a recent Star Wars: The Force Awakens premier.

The long-sleeved and metallic floor length dress also featured back cut outs that enhanced her curvy behind and showed off her dainty waist.

The stunning gown was from designer Alexandre Vauthier SS15 Couture collection and I have to admit, Lupita wore it even better than the model.

It’s nice to see Lupita looking this hale and hearty; at least Kenyans will not complain of her skinny frame like they did during the Oscars.

Ooh Lala! ‘Camp Mulla’ Diva Drives Men into an Excited Frenzy After She Showed Off a Huge Chunk of Her Breasts

She has many nicknames, Kenya’s Rihanna thanks to her tattoos and wild ways or even Miss Camp Mulla.

But never call her that, she might get into a flying rage if you do that. Her name is Tiri Murai and you probably know her from her rousing performance at the MTV All Stars in South Africa. She came into the limelight just as Camp Mulla, her label mates announced their break up. Shappaman and Kus_Ma being the only ones left in the group, Tiri was put to the test and asked to accompany Camp Mulla to Kwazulu Natal for the MTV Base All Star where Camp Mulla was the act representing East Africa.

Amongst the songs they performed was “Chafua” which features Collo and has been on high rotation ever since their performance.

It’s been a while since we heard from this feisty girl, but her social media has been on fire. She started off by posting this costume she had for Halloween.

Following Waiguru’s exist, the consultants have been left speculating whether they will still enjoy the privileges they used to since they can’t predict the new CS’s move.

It’s reported that most consultants Waiguru brought on board have started sourcing for alternative clients as it’s believed the new CS, Mwangi Kiunjuri, will come with his own team.

Risper Faith’s New Bird Nest Wig Makes Her Look Like A Spoilt Githunguri Granny (Photos)

This time round the B List socialite has failed terribly with her poor taste in the artificial hair covering her head!

Kwani what’s happening with her?? Either her stylist is incompetent or she is needing of one. Or perhaps she can no longer afford a classy wig like the one Vera has.

Risper Faith looks lovely with long artificial hair and not a cheap looking wig that house helps in Kawangware can comfortably afford without straining their salaries.

The B list socialite decided to transform her look and she settled on a wig that mirrors a bird’s nest turned upside down.

The crummy wig gives Risper Faith this old look that may probably scares away would-be potential sponsors.

Nikubaya! Sonko Stripped Of His VIP Status

Mike Sonko no longer enjoys the privileges that were accorded to him in earlier stages of his tenure as the Nairobi Senator.

Things can change so quickly! A while back, philanthropic lawmaker, Mike Mbuvi Sonko, used to cruise around the city in a convoy of posh SUVs which were led by a chase car to clear the way.

cadf1.jpg

Sonko’s then convoy

Things have taken a new twist and the Nairobi Senator has been forced to improvise to be able to move around the city without being stuck on the roads.

Nairobi is usually clogged by a standstill traffic that is a nightmare to motorists. While back then Sonko would sneak past the jam thanks to his sirens, today he’s forced to use nduthi to beat the traffic.

The legislator and his entire brigade were forced to ride motorbikes to beat the long tailback on Nairobi’s roads.

10 Beautiful Things About Ahmed Darwesh That Will Make Us Tearfully Miss Him For A Long Long Time. R.I.P.

Ahmed Dharwesh,as we all know by now,has left us. It was a sudden, utterly unbelievable death. Prior to his shock passing,he didn’t exhibit any signs of a struggle with life, nothing about him betrayed his deteriorating health, nothing about his boy or walk or smile prepared us for his passing. He just left. With no warning,no sign,no farewell. No goodbye. It was sudden and shocking. And that’s what made it even harder to believe…

Ahmed was one of KTN’s most acclaimed Swahili News Anchors. He’d worked at KTN for ages, mentoring and nurturing many, entertaining and informing many, enlightening and impressing many.

Twitter exploded with the shocking news yesterday and after one too many people had asked me whether or was true via WhatsApp,I sat up and texted Betty Kyalo quickly. And she said to me,yes,he was no more.

And just like the rest of the Country, shock gripped me. And alot alot of sadness too. We didn’t want him to go. Not so soon. Not that abruptly. But really,God’s plans are the Best. And we accepted the call grudgingly.

And there are 10 things,10 uniquely Darwesh things that will make us miss him terribly. And never forget he ever existed. Or lived amongst us.

caca.jpg

1. Smile
Nobody on television, male of female, had a warmer smile than Mr. Ahmed Dharwesh. His smile,on and off TV,was sincere, infectious, bold, inviting and consoling. He’d start his telecast with that signature smile… The smile that made you want to sit around and watch him read the news. He made us all feel at home with that smile,a genuine smile that illuminated his face and lit up our living rooms. Even off television,Ahmed’s smile never faded. Anytime I met him along the corridors of The Standard Group Offices,or by the car park or even in the cafeteria,he wore a smile. Ahmed would greet you with a smile. And you’d automatically smile back. He won us over with that simple yet powerful smile. Sweet yet potent smile. One of his greatest trademarks.

2. Swahili Proficiency
Few would rival Ahmed’s prowess at the Swahili language. In all of his bulletins, one thing that sorely stood out is his beautiful dexterity in the language of the Coastal people. He was on it. Spoke it like a pro… With all the words in the right place, perfect intonation, perfect diction and perfect terminologies. He was the Swahili master. You wouldn’t beat him at that. And he made that very clear in the beautiful manner he’d take on the language. And read the news with so much ease and unrivaled adroitness. He was the language. He lived the language.

3. Humility
I know many TV presenters. Oh,very many. And I believe that I can say this unequivocally ; Ahmed was one of the humblest souls tat ever graced our TV screens. Unlike many a Kenyan TV presenters, who are caught up in vain self-glorification and a stupid bloated ego, many a Kenyan TV stars who would rather not talk to the regular folks or even say a simple hello along the streets,Ahmed’s humility spoke for himself. He was as down-to-earth as you can possibly be. He was Television’s Francis of Assisi. Always kind and polite. Warm and inviting. Calm and unassuming. He carried himself with much dignity and yet unbelievable humility. One of a kind.

4. Good Manners
You wouldn’t find Ahmed on blogs every morning, caught up in some drama or involved in some crazy story. You wouldn’t even know he existed. He almost always carried himself with utmost self-respect. Not appearing on gossip pages and definitely not a fan of rowdy events. He’d sit back and let the World pass him by. He wouldn’t be in your face starting social media wars,he was hard to incense you,he never once was caught up in a media scandal. And we never once learned of his crazy romantic escapades. He was a gentleman. And died like one.

5. Stoicism
No one knew Ahmed even had Diabetes. Maybe just his family and closest friends. He didn’t sensationalize his ailment or even make such a big deal out of it. He kept his struggle to himself, not making it public or even seeking to gather attention to himself through it. No one could tell he had Diabetes. He never once walked, talked or looked like he was battling the deadly disease. He walked like a healthy man. And dispensed all his duties with ultimate dedication, while still fighting a medical nightmare. And affording to smile through it all. Absolute stoicism.

6. His Obsession With Neck Ties
Way back in January 2014,Mr. Dharwesh revealed to the media that he was obsessed with neck ties. He also revealed that he had over 500 neckties at his home. He was an avid lover of ties and he’s collect them anytime and every time. Even his wife started telling him to quit buying ties since he’d run out of space to keep them. Ahmed further revealed that his cheapest tie cost him around Ksh. 500 and his most expensive tie set him back some Ksh. 5,000. He’d buy ties allover…. From Gikomba to Eastleigh to Dubai and the U.K. He was a dedicated tie aficionado. And we’re lucky we all got to see him wear almost each one of them on Television.

7. Friendliness
Anyone who met Ahmed Dharwesh will tell you what a great friend he’d make once you got to know him. He was friendly even to strangers, never forgetting to say a hi to them, smile at them have a little impromptu conversation with them. He was never snobbish or too busy to invite you into his soul… Into his heart, and let you dine with him. And laugh with him. He was the easiest going man on television. Always ready for a chat. Even a hookup. Larry Madowo did a little tribute on Facebook explaining just how no one could befriend you as perfectly as Ahmed could. And it was spot on. You can read it HERE. He was the friendliest soul you’d ever met. And he did it with incredible ease.

8. Business Acumen
What many didn’t know about this man was his smart business skills. Ahmed, besides hosting TV,also was a brilliant business man who had restaurant chains serving Swahili dishes allover Nairobi and the Coast. He even has-and left behind-a small kiosk cum restaurant inside Standard Group from where he’d stock and sell cookies,Swahili dishes, junk foods and crisps and fruits and juices. He was an excellent business man. And you wouldn’t even know it. He kept that side of himself to himself. But the fruits of his blossoming food businesses would be reflected on him. And the gigantic car he used to drive.

9. Dedicated Family Man
We didn’t know much about his wife and kids. Or about his marriage but one thing is for sure,Ahmed was 101% committed to his lovely family. He’d talk about them glowingly on interviews. And he’d shield them strongly from the public… Preferring to keep them to himself and not necessarily flossing them around and make his family a huge social media spectacle. He made it known a million times what a lovely wife he had. And never wasted a chance to pay glowing tribute to her and her gorgeousness. Also speaking fondly of his children. He was a family man. Extraordinaire.

baba.jpg

10. His Staunch Faith And Respect Of Other Faiths
Despite the fact that he was himself a Muslim, many of Darwesh’s friends were actually Christians. He treated all people as equals, never judging or ostracizing others based on the faith. He was also a Staunch Muslim who totally loved and was a committed to his religion. He’d numerously show up at KTN dressed in a kanzu. Even go on air in it reminding the viewers of his religious background and how unashamedly committed to it he was. And despite that,he never once locked anyone out. He welcomed all and made all feel at home… Religious identities notwithstanding.

Truly truly,he’ll be sorely missed.
Let me borrow from my Muslim friends and say,Innah lilah wa inna ilayhi rajiun.

Larry Madowo Mourns The Death Of His Big Brother, KTN’s Ahmed Darwesh.

Last night, the sad news of the transitioning of KTN’s Ahmed Dharwesh rent the air.

Among a host of Kenyan Tv personalities who mourned the death of Ahmed was Larry Madowo, who, judging from a post that he shared on his social media was pretty close to the late.

He was more than a friend to Larry who eulogized him as:

“Let me tell you about the Ahmed Darwesh I knew. Daru, as we all called him was a gentleman in every sense of that word. When I joined KTN in April 2008, he was already at the top of his game and down to earth to a fault. Before I had a car, Daru stayed around after anchoring the 7pm Swahili news until I had finished editing my 9pm business story so he could drop me home…

Larry went on to reminisce of the happy times with his late friend, most notably his visit to Egypt with the late. He described the late as a ‘compassionate and funny man who was a gift to broadcast journalism”

Revealed :Weed And Alcohol Are The Reason For Conjestina’s Condition!

On of the most heart-breaking stories of our time was seeing veteran boxer, Conjestina Achieng waste away.

Her talents could not match the conditions she was living in, at some point it was even reported that the boxer was sleeping without meals. Kenyans across the divide heeded the call  to help and came in their numbers and finally medics seem to have gotten to the root of her down.

“Conjestina was admitted about a week ago for two situations: clinical depression and high level of marijuana dependency. She smokes a lot of weed as her primary drug of choice, and her secondary drug of choice is alcohol ..” Reports Citizen Digital

The medic went on to reveal that there was still hope for Conjestina who would go through some sort of purgatory, to detoxify her system from the drugs abuse:

“She will be going through medical detoxification to purge out the effects of marijuana and also manage her depressive episodes – that will run for like a month. After that, she will need  psychotherapy…”[sic]

The treatment normally takes three months or four and might even extend to four or five months depending on how the patient responds to treatment.

Ghafla wishes Conjestina a speedy  recovery.

Forget naivasha and the Coast, This We Have to Come to Find Out is where all the Big Shots go For Their Weekend Getaways

So how do you spend your holiday like the celebrity you are? How do you dedicate your time to go on a weekend getaway that will definitely make a difference? And I’m not talking about drinking sprees in Naivasha, family outings in Nakuru and random acts of debauchery in Machakos.

I’m talking about something that will leave a lasting impression, something out of the box and something that will leave some extra change in your pocket; Christmas is just around the corner you know. That’s the question I was battling with when we were sitting in the house last weekend with my girl and she kept on complaining how she was feeling kinda bored.

Now you don’t mess with a woman who is bored, especially one with the cojones to blatantly state it. And since I have no intentions of spending Christmas with my left hand, I had to think quickly and consider I only had a couple of thousands in my pocket.

That’s when something hit me; an old friend had landed a marketing Manager position in some establishment somewhere in the confines of Limuru. She referred to it as Brackenhurst and going by the various photos she shared on her social media, it proved to be quite the ideal destination with picturesque views and rich history.

Brackenhurst_3.jpg

Plus paying her a courtesy call wouldn’t be that bad…maybe she would even consider giving me a discount. So I pick up my call and give her a shout out;

Me: Hey Winnie, it’s been a minute…

Her: *very excited* Hey you, yeah…it has been….how are you?

Me: I’m alright, pressure ya kazi tu…thinking of taking a break early this year actually

Her: I get you, it can get crazy…as a matter of fact…how about you start this weekend….there is this place, where I work nowadays, you know the one I have been telling you about. I swear you’ll love it…it’s only like 45 minutes from town…..I’ll give you a huge discount…

Me: *chuckles* that’s what I was calling about by the way…bibi and I are kind of bored…so Brackenhurst you said? Somewhere before Limuru?

Her: *even more excited* Yes yes….If you start now…you might be in for lunch and they are serving lasagna….trust me you might want to taste that….

Me: Will be there in the next hour……

45 minutes later I make my entry to what you would mistake for a royal castle with majestic trees and very courteous guards. I guess that’s where you start telling the place is going to be hospitable, when the security goes as much to ask you how your drive was.

Le babe is already getting excited after seeing all the rustic buildings which I later came to learn have been in existence for the last 60 years. At the reception I’m met upon by Mike who is pretty much pleased to see us. The reception is a blend of old and modern forms of art with well arranged furniture which welcomes you to a world of relaxation and absolute bliss.

Mike being the nice chap he offers to take us to our rooms and as we make our way in the well manicured green fields I decide to ask him something very fascinating about Brackenhurst; apart from the white people of course. He tells me the connections he has managed to attain in his tenure and the pleasant working conditions. He talked about something Brackenhurst being one huge family.

Brackenhurst_4.jpg

Very modest I assumed….but maybe it was cold quiet breeze and the birds chirping that got him all confused; it’s a bit hard to talk ill of anyone with that kind of environment as your habitat. Just out of curiosity I asked him who he had managed to meet in the course of his work and he mentioned Chris Kirwa the PR Guru. He mentioned something about Kirwa leaving a lasting impression and I was happy for him.

He was now opening the door to our room where he courteously ushered in but not before reminding me to say hi to Sue, my pretty colleague. Fair enough I said right before jumping on the big bed with a gazillion cushions. It was surely going to be one of those weekends.

No television, no music and no disturbance; just you and nature spending some quality time. I’m telling you this place leaves your nerves feeling all chill and your mind calmer. The birds chirping hidden away in the myriad of trees also goes along away to initiate that much needed holiday feel.

Trust me it even ignites some spark in your relationship and makes your significant other appear different. I could have sworn my girlfriend looked more beautiful, livelier while we were there. I think she even swayed her hips more and made a lot of suggestions with her voice if you know what I mean……

Unfortunately I missed lunch but Winnie assured me there would be more lasagna for me during dinner which is served from 6.30 PM to around 8 PM. So as we sat there in the magnificent dining room with aureate lighting and post modern art pieces and enjoying a scrumptious meal prepared by one Omondi Joseph Omondi I ask Winnie what is so special about the place.

Brackenhurst_5.jpg

“What in the hell would make you leave all the drama and adrenaline you were accustomed to in Kaymu and settle for this?” I asked her…And don’t mention the hefty pay cheque I bet you are probably getting. * The whole table falls into laughter*

“Well, the people” she says. “What do you mean people?” My girlfriend prods. They all look pretty normal to us… “Or do they sing sweet bedtime songs for you at night?” Asks Salim, Ghafla’s social media strategist and videographer who also accompanied us on the trip. * More laughter* I’m telling you the place even makes you laugh more.

She goes ahead to state how the staff there is friendly and how they are insistent on being a family. How the well being of their guests is their top priority and how they are generally nice people. Explains something about the guards and Michael we all attest. This we concluded was derived from the fact that Brackenhurst was initially a church haven having been inhibited by the Baptist church.

Though they no longer form the core of the establishment, the hotel borrowed quite a lot in terms of treating people well and ensuring they have a good time. And a good time we were having despite the fact that they don’t sell alcohol. Again something about upholding the traditions of the church; a bit of a buzz kill but what gives….the whole point of making out down there was to enjoy a unique experience.

“Now that you don’t sell alcohol, how do you ensure that your guests are having a time of their life?” I asked. Winnie went on and on for another 30 minutes as to why the place is the absolute haven and I could have sworn she was now just bragging.

Now just to try and remember….we don’t want her feeling all sweet and all…..she said something about a botanical garden which I must say is an absolute wonder having being the home of more than 400 indigenous trees. Trust me you can’t find that anywhere else. There is also team building activities for all corporates and a little something for couples who are looking to enjoy sometime away from all the hustle and bustle.

brackehurst_6.jpg

Family fun days are also pretty much something to look forward to at Brackenhurst Hotel and Conferences as there are always games and activities for the kids and lots of delicacies to try out in the process. Make sure to carry some banana bread for the kids and you can be lest assured they will remember you forever.  As for people looking to hold conferences, they have fantastic offers as well.

I spent one night there and surely my December had been made…and ooh did I say their lasagna is great?

An Unbelievable Picture of Jeff Koinange Looking As Skinny As A Bean Pole

We are used to seeing Jeff Koinange in snazzy suits styled to precision, buff body and the slicked-back hair that he usually lays down with some gel.

But about a decade ago, Jeff Koinange was a far cry from the Jeff we know now.

As you all know after KTN was established ion 1992, Jeff Koinange was among the first anchors that were hired before he relocated to West Africa as Reuters West Africa Chief.

Why The World Is Raving About Local Singer ‘Dela’

Dela Maranga, a distinguished, local vocal powerhouse cum architect is now an international pop-star.

Her hits such as “Weche Tek” and “War in my Heart “may have resonated with a titanic sector of the country but her rendition of Adele’s Hello has completely won us over to her side.

A rendition that Polycarp (the producer) says was just a spur-of-the moment kind of thing writing “WOW! If only y’all knew how random this was! This was just one night of recording. Nothing was planned. And we released the next day just for fun. The response thus far is just overwhelming. None of us expected this. Big up to Webi and Andrew! Keep sharing! GOD BLESS YOU ALL.”

But we are not the only ones who are having shivers sent down our spine with her rendition of Adele’s Hello; the international community is also feeling it.

In the last few hours, international publications such as Harper’s Bazaar, Hello Giggles and even Refinery 29 did pieces on it.
