After Calling Kenyan Girls Aggressive During His Last Visit Here, Uganda’s Funny Man Salvado Is Coming Once Again!

Salvado is the pride of Uganda when it comes to comedy.

The man who once worked as a telecommunications engineer is now considered one of the most bankable names in East African comedy to date and has bagged numerous accolades and awards.

In December last year, the comedian was in the country where he spoke about his first experience in Nairobi. In an interview with the Nairobian, Salvado revealed that in 2009, when he first came to Nairobi, he was shocked by the aggressiveness of Nairobi chics and Nairobian’s ability to hold their liquor.

” I first came to Kenya in 2009 by bus. I had come to perform at the Uganda Night at the Carnivore. I travelled throughout the night and did not see much.

But I got the real Kenyan experience when I got to Nairobi. Banange (my God!), Nairobi girls are aggressive! Back home, a man has to work very hard to even get a simple ‘hi’. Even our female journalists are very shy.” he said.

Now, the man from Ombokolo will be jetting into the country with a versatile mix of Africa’s top comedians for a grand rib-cracking affair hosted by the Kenyan king of comedy Churchill.

Apart from Salvado, comedy fans should expect to see Rwanda’s Nkusi Arthur, Zimbabwe’s Carl Ncube, DRC’s Eddie Kadi, South Africa’s Ndumsio Lindi to Malawi’s Daliso Chaponda at the inaugural laugh festival.

Others expected to share a stage with these stars are MC Jessy, Hammo, Sleepy and Aman who will be making special appearances.

Popular Ghafla Writer Gets Mobbed By Thousands Of Fans In Kampala

Popular Ghafla writer Philip Etemesi otherwise known as ‘The Sheriff’ was yesterday mobbed my thousands of fans while enjoying a brief holiday in Kampala. As he strolled, the streets, a large crowd consisting of mostly hot females bombarded the prolific writer clamoring for autographs and pictures.

Ugandans may seem as cool as le cucumber when they are going about their normal lives and talking with funny English accents, but if there’s one thing that gets them twirling their communal moustache in excitement, it’s having a celebrity they know come into town. In fact, they were so excited to get a glimpse of Etemesi when he stepped out of his hotel that he was unable to move around until a few boda boda operators intervened to create some order

“I didn’t know I have so many fans outside Kenya, said the ever humble writer.

Now, Etemesi might be used to getting love from readers, but we’re not sure anything can prepare you for having about a hundred female hands trying to get their hands in places where they shouldn’t. At least he was prepared attire-wise as he donned one of those tough, expensive coats American law enforcement officers wear to train guard dogs to attack robbers. You never know when a stray fan is going to try to take a nibble of your elbow – or so we’d imagine. That said, Etemesi dealt with it pretty casually.

Gushing over the recent proceedings, the baby faced writer took to Instagram to thank fans for their support.

Sharing several photos of himself reading books, writing and getting kisses from hot ladies, he said: ‘KAMPALA. I’m an emotional wreck after that – I love you.’

Later he shared another image, telling followers: ‘Still on such a high from yesterday. It’s so strange but I think it’s only just hitting me what’s happened over the past few years.

‘Spontaneously crying a lot and feeling huge waves of happiness.’

We here at Ghafla are proud to see one of our own become such a huge star. When he joined our team around 18 months ago, we warned everyone snorting with derision not to underestimate the then rookie writer and predicted he would electrify the blogging world. See now?

Whether you love or loathe Etemesi, there is no denying what he has indisputably achieved.

He now has millions of loyal readers. His articles and short stories are staggeringly bold, creative, confrontational, dynamic, positive and abusive – sometimes all at the same time. They’re also authentic, in the sense that he seems to believe everything he’s saying at the time he says it. People like that. He doesn’t hide behind politically correct statements, and isn’t afraid to attack those who attack him.

The talented fellow will give talks about blogging at two Ugandan Universities this week before moving on to Dar Es Salaam for a script-writing gig over the weekend.

He will then jet to Rwanda for another talk before he returns to Kenya next week

You Have Probably Given This Blind Crippled Beggar In The Street Of Nairobi Your 10 Or 20 Bob. But Did You Know He’s Physically Fit Without ANY Deformity? See These Photos

It’s time to be a little mean with the coins you dish around to beggars that have dotted the streets of Nairobi. Some are fake only pretending to be ill or physically challenged just to rob you!!

Not all beggars you see on the street of Nairobi are genuine; a fake one was recently busted in Ngara amid shock from passersby.

A ‘blind crippled’ beggar who was seated on his wheelchair ‘miraculously’ stood and pushed his wheelchair to a different spot.

Perhaps he wasn’t getting enough money from passers by thus he opted to shift to a different location where he would trick unsuspecting Nairobians.

Photos of the fake ‘blind crippled’ beggar were shared online by one Pchirchir Elisha who revealed the incident happened last Sunday in Ngara.

A Music Delight! Nyashinsky And Sauti Sol’s Polycarp Working On New Music Project (Photos)

Nyashinksy is certainly not resting on his laurels. The former Kleptomaniax member came back with a bang with the hot ‘Now You Know’ hit.

Well, he is not going to pull a Nameless and milk that one hot single mixing with previous tracks. Nope, he is already into production working with one of the best production minds currently in the local scene, Sauti Sol’s Polycarp Otieno.

Polycarp Otieno has been quite a revelation not just on the Sauti Sol songs but also his work with other artistes especially the widely acclaimed Dela’s rendition to Adelle’s Hello.

Given Nyashinksy’s great vocals and Polycarp’s ability to let this shine through without the inhibition of too much production adornments, it is a work any music lover should look forward to. Here are the two in the studio working on the next project:

DP Ruto’s Brother Who Succumbed To Cancer Laid To Rest Amid Political Undertones

DP Ruto’s brother was buried yesterday at the family’s home in Kamagut, Uasin Gishu County!

The late Harrison Kiptoo Korir died of cancer at the Nairobi Hospital on Friday 15th July, he was only 36 years old.

The need of early screening for cancer was underlined at the burial as both President Uhuru and his deputy William Ruto appealed to Kenyans to be screened for cancer.

“We have lost our brother Harrison to Cancer. If detected early, Cancer can be treated. I urge all Kenyans to go for screening and use the medical facilities in our hospitals to know their status. Let us join hands to fight Cancer and other major diseases. Beyond this life there is eternal life. Thanks to neighbours, friends, leaders and family for condoling with us at this difficult time.” Wrote DP Ruto.

Political undertones in the burial were evident at the burial though national unity and cancer screening was the dominant topic.

Kiambu governor who had earlier said DP Ruto wasn’t assured of Mt. Kenya votes in his bid vie for presidency in 2022 was present at the burial.

The presence of more than 10 politicians from Mt. Kenya at the burial was seen as an assurance to the DP that the region was behind him in his bid to run for the presidency in 2022.

Kenyan-Jamaican Rapper Known For His Indecent Songs Begs President Uhuru To Allow His Songs To Be Played In Kenya

He says the government of Kenya has the tendency of banning his music and to prevent this he confronted President Uhuru and begged him to see to it that his songs are not banned!

Grossly indecent songs have no place on the Kenyan screen, relevant music and film bodies have seen to it that content that are not conforming with generally accepted standards of behavior are banned from TV.

Kenyan-Jamaican rapper, Blaqy (he recently revealed his mom is Kenyan while his dad is Jamaican) has been a victim of government ban on obscene content.

Blaqy has shot a new video but even before he releases it he had to make an appeal to the highest office in the land to grant his song immunity against prohibition.

Below is the appeal Blaqy sent to President Uhuru;

TO THE PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF KENYA

UHURU MUIGAI KENYATTA

I Eugene Mokua also known as singer artist BLAQY is kindly asking for the government of Kenya this round not to ban my music again this time round.

I have already shot my new video and its in the hands of editors and director DAUDI and CHARLES and it will be out very soon. This is part of the clips in that my new video. The song has been dedicated to my beloved mum who have also taken part in writing the song and she is in some parts of the video. The song recognizes all women in the world and their rights e.g respect from men, not be raped and not to be abused sexually and many others. The song also highlights the importance of girl child education and leadership and supporting women for example how president Obama supported the Maasai woman while he was in Kenya and its due to the demand from the women that I will release the new song.

So my kind and humble request to the president of Kenya and the ministry of sports and culture is not to ban my music again this time round.

I love my music and am possessed to Jamaican style and I would rather die poor than leaving the music industry. My mum is a Kenyan but my father is a Jamaican and I am talented in singing and so I would not like my fans to be denied the chance of accessing my music.

The government has the tendency of banning my music yet my team have been given the authority and freedom of chosing their dressing mode and dancing style. Have given them the freedom of dancing and dressing as per their wish NOT MY WISH.

Am pleased this time they have bubbled, tweaked, bendover and paused and some have paused

I would rather die poor but I will keep on singing even it doesn’t pay since all the money are taken by the music cooperate.

So am requesting the president of Kenya UHURU MUIGAI KENYATTA to give orders to his team to allow my music to see light.

Thanks for your attention

Modern Day Miracles! Elderly Man Survives Horrific Accident That Saw His Car Pushed Under A Lorry (Photos)

Two disasters that have rocked the nation in recent months have been car accidents and school fire. What has been shocking is not just the alarming rate with which they happen but the ferocious and horrific nature they take.

Accidents are happening on almost a daily basis claiming lives by the tens daily.

This time however, despite the freakish and horrific nature of the accident, no one was hurt as the only individual affected managed to walk out of the wreck shaken but uninjured. A speeding and overlapping matatu on the Southern Bypass managed to knock a car driving it into a lorry that was stationery ahead.

Media personality Christopher Kirwa who was next to the driver rushed to free the elderly man and narrated the incident which points to the carelessness of road users especially matatus that easily leads to accidents only that this time no one was affected. This is his account;

“While on Ngong road near southern bypass , a matatu overlapping and in serious speed slammed into this car opposite me crashing it to the lorry. We were all stationary coz of traffic. I got out and opened his door and gently got him out. Thanks to God he was just shaken but not hurt. I called Red Cross and within five minutes traffic police arrived. To matatu teams please think of human life. Kindly let us arrive alive. The passengers in the matatu were surprised that a preacher was preaching in the mat before the accident. That the elderly man was able to Survive this is truly God. When I asked him if we can call his family his main concern was to postponed the appointment he had – Iko Mtu nikikuwa nakutana na yeye hebu nisadie nimpigie Simu … His hands were shaking”

Watu Wako Na Pesa! Shock As A Luo Man Smiles And Giggles After Wrecking His Kes 7.4 Million Car #MakeItHappen

He wasn’t bothered his pricey car was wrecked, he maintained calm, smiled and chuckled even when it was obvious he was going to spend thousands of shillings to fix his car.

A Wednesday evening accident along Southern Bypass left witness wondering whether the driver was mentally sound.

In most cases, drivers would exhibit signs of panic and frustration when they are involved in minor collisions which are a common occurrence on Kenyan roads.

But the driver of a Jaguar XJ acted in a ‘weird’ way when he was involved in a road accident that left his Kes 7.4 million car smashed.

The driver hit a lorry’s rear while trying to overtake it only to realize he would collide head-on with an oncoming vehicle. He hit the lorry as he was attempting to go back to his lane.

The two drivers stopped their vehicles to assess the damage caused by the crash. The Jaguar was badly damaged though the lorry was also scratched.

It was obvious the car’s driver was at fault having been the one who hit the lorry. But the Luo man (from his accent) was composed as even smiled and giggled.

He surprised even the witness who had milled around the accident scene thinking he was going to cough lots of money to compensate the lorry driver for the damage, and also use more money to fix his own car.

But instead of money, the driver of the Jaguar was talking about Bancasurrance taking care of everything.

He was heard explaining that his motor vehicle insurance cover (the one he referred to as Bancasurrance) protected him for liability in such scenarios as accidents.

The driver of the Jaguar explained to the lorry driver that he couldn’t give him money to compensate for the damage caused but promised him that his Bancasurrance insurance cover would take care of the compensation on his behalf.

He also advised to the lorry driver to take a similar cover for his truck explaining how it provides cover for loss of or accidental damage to the motor vehicle, its accessories and spare parts as well as third party property bodily injury and property damage.

Click the link below to see what the driver of the Jaguar car was talking about;

From Bitter Enemies To Having a Lunch Date…Nyota Ndogo And Colonel Mustapha End Their Beef And Now Plan To Work Together (Video)

Nyota Ndogo and her perennial enemy Colonel Mustapha have decided to quash their beef.

What’s more, the two artistes are actually warming up to the idea of working together in the near future. This comes after the two artistes said there was no bad blood between them. Colonel Mustapha was the first one in an earlier interview with Willy M Tuva on Mambo Mseto who said he had reformed his ways of sexualizing and objectifying women which had led to a series of condemnations from Nyota Ndogo something which brought out the beef between the two artistes.

Recently, Nyota Ndogo was at the same studio and when Willy M Tuva brought up the issue she said she was happy that Mustapha had accepted the error of his ways and she and other women had sure forgiven him. She also hold him she would consider his lunch offer a debt that she will hold him too. On doing a song together, Nyota Ndogo said that will require they write the song together just to ensure Mustapha does not error.

Whatever their differences, there is no doubt that their collaborative work will be something to look forward to. Now Mustapha, onto that lunch and no ‘Dodoma Singida’ business. Here is the video of the two quashing the beef.

Prezzo and His Girlfriend Gang Up Against Alai After He Accused Prezzo Of Drug Peddling

Robert Alai has added another enemy to his ever growing list of personalities who he has little respect of.

Having been there first one with reports about Prezzo’s misdemeanor that included harassing a resident of Nyayo Estate and causing disturbance, Robert Alai was not done nor satisfied. Even with Prezzo arrest and arraignment in court, he saw it fit to fire the last word and in the process dragged in Uhuru Kenyatta who by now seems to be used to anything the bloggers says. A couple of hours after the incident he took to Facebook to vent his anger saying;

‘President Uhuru can’t claim to fight drug abuse when he still engages petty drug peddles like Prezzo. Intimidating Embakasi Police to release Prezzo is not the right thing.

Prezzo is peddling drugs and trying to use the same to destroy our youth in Embakasi. It’s sad that the President is the one encouraging such delinquents to destroy our young ones. I am so disgusted.

Mr. President the taka taka who is your friend, Jackson Makini aka Prezzo, should be in jail. We can’t allow this in our estate. We will never allow it. Stop condoning it.”

Well, Prezzo has never cowered nor hesitated from a mud fight , having dealt with the pressing issues and perhaps getting the news of the shots at him much later he has finally replied going for the offensive and derogatory.

“Shame on this idiot! What gives u the right to write baseless stories all in the name of tarnishing President Uhurus name? Ur thong is too tight u need to do something about it.”

In an era where couples support each other especially in the wake of a social media attack, Prezzo’s fiancée proved to be quite adept at the game going full throttle on Alai’s post condemning him and calling for his imprisonment. The Nairobi Diaries cast member had quite a mouthful to dish out

“You Stupid c*nt!You’re the one who should be in jail for this hate speech you been spreading.. Eti Drug peddler are you the Supplier??Get a life msenge wewe!Sue this idiot Prezzo,”

Both these parties do not know how to back down and all are residents of Nyayo where Robert Alai is the Chairman of the residents’ association. Grab a sit and watch how it pans out.

Social Media Queen Drugged and Strangled By Brother Over Raunchy Pictures and For Bringing Shame to the Family (Photos)

“I am proud of what I did. I drugged her first and then I killed her. She was bringing dishonor to our family.” Are the chilling words uttered in a confession video by the brother of a slain social media star.

Waseem Baloch murdered his sister Qandeel Baloch by strangling her at their family home in the city of Multan in Punjab Province in Pakistani for the “kind of pictures she had been posting online.”

The pictures which are normal by international standards caused hostile emotional responses from members of the deeply conservative Muslim country and she often received death threats and abuse with people telling her to preserve her modesty.

Her video ‘Ban’ where she is seen twerking did not help things either and fueled the hate:

A selfie taken with a Muslim cleric Mufti Qavi during Ramadan is said to have driven her brother over the edge and that is when he decided to kill her. Apparently due to the controversy the picture elicited, Qavi was suspended from Ruet-i-Hilal Committee and National Ulema Mushaikh Council, religious bodies in Pakistan.

“I planned this after her scandal with the Mufti and was waiting for the right time.” he said.

Qandeel and Mufti

Speaking to Pakistan’s Geo News, Qandeel’s mum said that Waseem was egged on by the Muslim cleric to carry out the ‘honor killing ‘.

Her death has been met with varied reactions online with some saying if she behaved appropriately, she would be alive and others including Theresa May condemning this senseless killing.

Here are photos of the said queen:

Here Are The Real Names Of 20 Popular Artistes…Some are Just Outright Hilarious(Photos)

“What’s in a name? That which we call a rose. By any other name would smell as sweet.” Romeo may have uttered these words eons ago in Shakespeare’s most famous tragedy trying to argue his case but then as now, time has proven plenty is in a name. Just ask the Odinga’s and Kenyatta’s.

For artistes this is a crucial part of their branding hence the introduction of a stage name. It is like their alter ego, their public face and different muses guide their selection of the names. From nicknames to their original names, to incidents they have undergone and egos, you will find many explanations for artistes stage names.

In Kenya this has led to quite crazy ones and totally complete new identities you can hardy associate with the real name with the artiste. Here are some of the popular artistes and their real names;

RAJ

raj.jpg

He opted for a simple short form of his first name Rajiv. Rajiv Okemwa is his full name and he is currently riding high with his big hits Obe Baba and Sawasawa.

Avril

avril.jpg

As much as it sure seems to be her name, the sultry singer real is quite different, Judith Mwangi.

Octopizzo

octopizzo.jpg

Otopizzo, Octombitho, Octomontanna etc, his stage name may have many mutations or strains but Kibera’s finest ID reads Henry Ohanga.

Kristoff

kristoff.jpg

The only thing that can relate Kristoff to his real name, Barton Namwaya is his Mluhya wa Busia line.

Rabbit

kingkaka.jpg

King Kaka is another who has had a mutation of his first stage name. However before he got into the rabbit business he was simply Kevin Ombima.

JuaCali

JUACALI.jpg

The veteran on Kenyan music and Genge pioneer will retire but few will even know he was Paul Nunda before he took after the scorching sun.

Xtatic

xtaticbetter.jpg

With a name rapping style so exotic you will be forgiven if you heard Xtatic responding to the name Gloria Edna Macheo…what’s a gangsta lady doing with a Sister’s name?

Redsan

REDSAN4.jpg

Whatever inspired him to pick it you will never know but that is the name you will always associate Swabri Mohammed with.

Khaligraph Jones

KHALIJ.jpg

Brian Robert Ouko. Yes that is the name King Khali answers to when his village elder call him, the rest is just showbiz and too many music videos.

VISITA

VISITAKENYA.jpg

The Grandpa sound engineer may have sought inspiration from a V-6 engine but when he was presented before the Lord, Nixon Wesonga is the name that was given.

Kevoh Kforce

KEVOKFORCE.PNG

He sure decided to go simple with the first name but then the force awakened and Kevin Ambalwa became Kevoh Kforce and the music industry welcomed another member.

Bahati

bahati7.jpg

For such a fortunate and hardworking individual, Bahati does look like the name he was given. Yet the government recognizes the gospel star as Kevin Kioko.

Willy Paul

willyposse.jpg

Before he was clean and repentant like the biblical Paul, before he became gospel music most scandalized artist, the young boy had a mouthful of a name, Abubakar Radido Opondo.

Madtraxx

madtraxx.jpg

Another with a zillion renditions to his stage name, but given the simplicity of George Muigai, you can understand why.

Kush Tracy

kushtract.jpg

Vying for Kenya’s ‘baddest’ lady needs some high level bravado hence the Kush. However, when at home she is just Teresia Ndoti

Mejja

MEJJAJ.jpg

Before Mejja puffed up to be Okonkwo the skiny lad had quite a gem for a name, Nemenye Khadija. You can’t top that.

Kenrazzy

kenrazy.jpg

He may be a ‘mbilikimo’ but his name reads like an academician’s titles. Kenneth Aketch Oluoch Barnabas

P-unit

The three members of the group chose to go with simple modifications to their first names short forms

This Experienced Judge Leaves the Court Mouth Agape when He Quotes Game Of Thrones In His Ruling (Screenshot)

Game of Thrones the series is something of a revelation to many. At the same time others take quite an obnoxious attitude to it and towards those who watch it wondering what the fuss is all about.

Well, while the series is pretty much game changer bringing to life the different cultures characters and forces in George R.R Martin fictitious world it is the books in the A Song Of Ice and Fire series that truly capture the philosophies, ideologies and conflicting morals of leading characters.

It’s the vicious power play and pursuit of power that gives both the books and series their unique pull. A judge in Thika took the book to a new level when he quoted a huge paragraph in explaining the situation where those entrusted with responsibility and power mess it to their own whims and advantage yet the poor and helpless remain to pay the consequences.

In his quite interesting ruling that makes quite an sweet read, Thika High Court Judge D.K,Njagi Marete said

This all times debate of philosophy was recently revisited by George R. R. Martin in his master piece,A Game of Thrones, Harper voyager, 2011 at page 613 as follows;

“Rhaenys was a child too.  Prince rhaegar’s daughter.  A precious little thing, younger than your girls.  She had a small black kitten she called Balerion, did you know? I always wondered what happened to him. Rhaenys liked to pretend he was the true Balerion, the Black Dread of old, but I imagine the Lannisters taught her the difference between a kitten and a dragon quick enough, the day they broke down her door.”  Varys gave a long weary sigh, the sigh of a man who carried all the sadness of the world in a sack upon his shoulders.  “The High Septon once told me that as we sin, so do we suffer.  If that’s true, Lord Eddard, tell me … why is it always the innocents who suffer most, when you high lords play your game of thrones?  Ponder it, if you would, while you wait upon the queen.  And spare a thought for this as well: The next visitor who calls on you could bring you bread and cheese and the milk of the poppy for your pain … or he could bring you Sansa’s head.” (underlining mine.)

We would understand the plight of Varys.  The million dollar question that has disturbed philosophy is why the innocent would continue to suffer when the high lords and them all play their game of thrones?  The world, like the accused officer in this cause, continues to suffer whereas we sit in glory in our ivory towers unconcerned.

(The underlined part is from A Game Of Thrones the book)

The 7 Types Of Conductors (Makangas) You Will Meet In Nairobi

If you use matatus, chances are that you have encountered at least 3 of these types of conductors. Have a peep below and find out what kind of conductors I am talking about:

 1. Mr. Smooth Operator

smooth-operator.jpg

He is often spotted in the company of the hottest chics who are regular travelers of a certain route.

He clearly knows how to handle the ladies and is usually gifted with rugged good looks or is a snazzy dresser who somehow manages to make the fugly maroon uniform look good.

2. The Hot Head

raeg_guy.jpg

This one must have missed the ‘customer care’ classes because he is perpetually angry, mostly acts like a tough guy and is often brazen and rude.

He is the kind to ‘pitisha’ you then abuses you if you bring it up. Don’t be surprised when he is caught in tiffs with passengers as he does not seem to have a stop button.

3. The Pervert

pervferte.jpg

He makes the kind of lewd jokes that make everyone shift in their seats uncomfortably . He is often the kind that wants to cop a feel in the pretense of directing girls into the vehicle.

4. The Hypeman

hymenam.jpg

He is not the main conductor, but he is the kind that pulls the crowd to the mat for a small fee of 20 or 10 bob. The trumpet-blower if you will.

If you ply the KU-Kahawa, then you have probably heard them say things like “Mat Safi bila Kunguni na ni 50 Bob tu!”

He often disses other matatus and touts and is the self-appointed lawyer of the matatu fraternity. He also sometimes doubles up as ‘mtu wa seti’.

5. The One with Selective Amnesia

Always seems to forget your change and if you don’t remind him you might never get your change back.

If you actually find him, they simply act like they have no recollection whatsoever of interacting with you and you are just there like:

6. The Nice One

A rare gem in the matatu industry who is very polite, gives your change back and is often the kind to help old ladies and the disabled out of the matatus.

7. The Functioning Alcoholic

His life is a 24/7 party but he doesn’t exhibit the outward symptoms of drunkenness, what often gives him away is the pungent smell of alcohol which smacks you right in the face .

This type of kange can drink a copious amount of alcohol which in others would be incapacitating but somehow he still manages to function and is even on his A-game.

Like Father Like Son Meet Senator Orengo’s Son Who Is A Spitting Image Of Him

Senator James Orengo is among the sharpest legal minds in the country.

He is also a respected legislator and debater with the ability to always come up with incisive and cutting points. Thus you will expect this smarts to be passed on to the children regardless of whichever profession they choose. It is even more of a Jackpot when you consider his wife to be the prominent lawyer and human rights activist Betty Murungi.

With such achievers for parents you cannot be surprised when the children prove to be intellectuals and bookish too. The couple has 6 children 4 sons and two daughters. One of the sons, Michael Orengo just graduated from the UK with a degree in architecture.

The young man was celebrated by his mother and friends and another lawyer Prof. Makau Mutua took time to celebrate the young man too. Here is the photo and message he posted;

For The Good Of Humanity, King Kaka Needs To Stop Trying To Sing And Focus On Delivering Concrete Hip Hop Bars

Okay, this is not a King Kaka hate thread, this is a truth thread. I respect King Kaka’s work ethic. He’s one of the hardest grinders in the industry, but I think he tries too much to sing yet he’s supposed to be a rapper. Of late, most of his music can actually be classified as mellow songs, not hip hop, which is worrying. I don’t know if he’s trying to do a Drake but it’s not working

Singing ability has never been more optional for artistes than in today’s gimmick-polluted music industry. Everyone thinks they can just rhyme and create a banger but for every musician with actual talent are 50 vocally-worthless audio terrorists with obsessive fan bases.

Unfortunately, King Kaka is in the bad category of singers. Now he can Rap, I won’t lie. He’s among the top three rappers in the country. But Singer he is not, he is literally one step from “People That Should Not Be Allowed to Sing”. The Kenyan public generally loves smooth flowing songs but to be considered a bad singer, it takes a special brand of mediocrity – whether it’s a maddeningly lazy delivery, awful lyrics or embarrassing content. Take his first verse In the song ‘Lini’ for example

Okey,hey ma nko Dar,

we uko far,

na inakaa unanifaa ,

Unataka nini? mabenz ka chidi, ila mimi sina mapenzi ka fifty

Mahaba,tu yetu haiozi, akiba nipee mwana, ka F A au Kiba wawe watatu ka leaders, uko nai wapi? street ya kimathi kwa taxi picha yetu safi

Did anything make sense to you there? No? You are not alone. This is what is called writing lines to fill space. It’s amazing to note that King Kaka delivered these lines with such paint-drying enthusiasm. It’s like while he was recording, he was telling himself, “I am gonna feed these guys garbage, and I know they are gonna ike it. They are Kenyans after all” . Last time I checked, you are supposed to comprehend that a rapper says. And i am not fluent in moron

Arrogant and guilty of the cardinal sin of emotional vulnerability, King Kaka is a monster coming to swallow the carefully cultivated masculinity that generations of swaggering alpha male rap artists like Ukoo Flani have worked so hard to engrain into hip hop’s categorically heteronormativist power structure. He is the darkness; the ceaseless void of corporate soul that chase the money over the craft

When King kaka started doing songs instead of hip hop music in the name of selling out, I remained hopeful. I figured that this was only temporary. . The lyrics in his songs — the ones you could understand, that is — were abysmal, the cadence was horrendous and the content made no sense. But I chilled on song after song, figuring that these were eyesores that would soon fade away. But NO, King Kaka continues to feature singer after singer but then goes on to sing himself. Why feature a singer then sing too? The way it should work is that if you are a rapper, you do the solid bars then the singer you have featured does the soft chorus.

This truly is a trying time for our country. We need the Hip Hop King Kaka back. We need bars. Kuimba achia Willy Paul na Sudi Boy

“Diamond Is Just A Studio And Social Media Artist He Is Overrated” Jose Chameleone Fires Salvo at the Tanzanian Top Artist

Jose Chameleone has traversed and led the East and Central African music scene for over a decade now.

Through all that time he has been among the leading and richest artists in the region. However the rise, influence and corresponding affluence of Diamond Platinumz has seen the artiste fade from the hallowed prominence especially in media and awards. However, Jose Chameleone does not feel or recognize Diamond Platinumz as the big artist he is because according to him he still holds the East African mantle.

For him, Diamond Platinumz is an overrated artist’s much big in the studio and social media and on hype. Jose Chameleone was speaking in Uganda’s NTV The Beat where he is quoted saying,

“There is a difference between a TV musician and a Stage musician. Diamond is not so big as many of you think despite being famous on social media platforms like Instagram. When he came to Uganda, he was just in Club Guvnor. He can’t stage a sold out show by himself in Uganda unlike me who can fill stadiums in Tanzania (Diamond Platinumz’ country),”

5 Bizarre Club-Related Deaths That Shocked the Whole Country. One Was Absolutely Horrendous (Photos)

When one hits the club, you expect to relax, party hard or even get lucky.

But unfortunately some people never make it out the club alive and today we look at some bizarre club deaths that rocked the nation.

1. George Thuo’s Death at Porkies

On November 17, 2013 George Thuo a former Juja MP and chief whip checked into a popular Thika club called Porkies to hang out with friends and watch a Formula One race on television.

He passed away later and 6 people including his friends were put on trial for his murder after it was revealed that his drink had been poisoned with a highly toxic chemical.

2. John Wanjohi

In September 2015, John Wanjohi was partying with a friend at a popular joint on Thika Road called Maxland in Mountain Mall.

CCTV footage shows the man leaving the premises, walking down the stairs before stopping at the edge of the staircase, looking down, and then falling tragically to his death…4 floors down.

John who was 29 years old was buried in his father’s home in Iriaini village in Othaya, Nyeri County. He left behind a 25 year old widow and a 4 year old son.

3.John Mbugua’s death at Maxland

“They had spent the whole night at the bar, taking alcohol to celebrate his birthday. His friends say he was fine all through but at around 6 am, he began vomiting and the management called officers at the nearby Thome Police Post.” A lawyer looking into his unexpected death revealed.

Unfortunately, Mbugua did not survive and the post mortem results revealed that he was poisoned, leading to the arrests of two women sitting next to him who had the suspicious substance believed to have caused John’s death in their bags.

4.Hannah Mageri’s Death

Hannah Mageri a teen from Kiambaa, Kiambu County allegedly died after a night of partying with her friends at Club LXIX (69) in Ruaka in April this year.

Hannah was said to have passed away after smoking Sheesha laced with drugs at the popular club but CCTV footage of the night she partied at the said club proved otherwise. From the footage, Hannah did not smoke Shisha and left the club in the company of her two friends before going to spend the night at a guy’s place.

Her cousin who is a regular patron at the club said that Hannah was later taken to her home by the same guy she spent the night with, complaining of stomach pain.

She was rushed to the local Mũcatha Clinic before being taken to Tigoni Hospital where she succumbed.

Blood tests conducted on the young girl revealed that the Sheesha could have had drugs in it.

5. John Barnabas Mchanga Stabs 2 People To Death Before Getting Stoned To Death

The loss of 30,000 Kshs proved too much for John Barnabas Mchanga, a Tanzanian, who went on a rampage and killed a Casino’s manager and a guard using a Somali Dagger at the City View Bar and Restaurant Casino in Eastleigh.

Casino.jpg

The ill-fated casino www.nation.co.ke

Mchanga is said to have gone to Winfred Mbuvis’ (the manager) office to demand free play or a refund following his loss. When she refused to comply, he killed her then attacked the security manager James Lutea who had come to intervene, killing him too.

Mchanga then attacked another guard who had come to save Winfred and James and stabbed him in the neck.

He then got out of the Casino and hid behind some cars before an angry mob stoned him to death between the Main 10th Street and 2nd Avenue.

Mike Sonko Sets The Example On How To Treat Your Wife…Here Is How The Couple Spent Some Quality Time (Photos)

Gone are the days when you will only hear of political leaders’ families only in funerals or when they decide to ‘succeed’ their parents or husbands in political seats.

Nowadays, several of the leading Kenyan politicians have wives and children who are part of their image and public life. They portray and even set an example as humanely as they can of a happy loving family. It is common to see holidaying photos all over the internet nowadays.

Two leading examples of this new turn in politicians’ lifestyles are Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko and the Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua. While Mutua and his wife were out in the Maldives celebrating her belated birthday, Mike Sonko took time with his better half  to go experience of the Kenyan coast and by the look of things, they surely had a splendid time.

Here are the photos of the two which earned praise especially as the Senator urged men to not just focus on their work but take time to treat their families.

After Taking a Public HIV Test, This Is What Vera Sidika Is Planning To Do For Those Affected By HIV/AIDS

Huddah Monroe and Vera Sidika got into a passionate squabble that brought excitement to an otherwise vapid and cold weekend. The two socialites who have ensconced themselves into the showbiz scene were fighting over who is the Flat Tummy Tea brand ambassador.

As expected their insults were not only lethal but also slanderous with Huddah Monroe accusing Vera of smashing raw in china for 5,000 dollars.

An accusation that forced Vera to take a HIV Test and share the results on Snapchat to prove that she was not carrying the deadly virus.

While some have slammed Vera for seeking validation, others have apparently been touched by Vera’s decision to publicly share her HIV status.

“Why do so many of our youth fear testing for HIV? I just realized by publicly testing for HIV I have encouraged so many youths in our society to go ahead and get tested. Got a lot of messages from y’all last night. Some of y’all mentioned your families have been affected by HIV and often face Stigma and discrimination in the society. Its so sad how in 2016 we still fighting Stigma. This is the same reason why the youth fear testing for HIV” Vera commented.

She then revealed that she is building a foundation to help Fight HIV/AIDS stigma so that people can stop shaming victims and isolating them.

Well, you have got to give to to her asVera really knows how to spin an otherwise scandalous thing into something positive and in the process expand her fan base. Maybe she also has a career in PR.

DANGEROUS: They Are Vicious And They Can KILL YOU. 5 Groups Of People You Don’t Want To Mess With In Kenya… It’s Either Their Way Or The Highway.

Every Country has it’s laws. But not all laws are made to be obeyed, not all people are created to follow the law and not all things must be solved via the law.

Some people just want to take matters into their own hands… Some people just want to bend a few rules and vent out, some people just won’t wait for the good old Mother Justice to come along.

Some people love to gang up and square things out – violently.

And even here,in this good land we inhabit,we have sections of people you seriously don’t want to mess with.

They prefer to have things done their way or they’ll cook up a shitstorm.

They prefer to have the little rights they still enjoy respected or things won’t go down very well.

Annoy them at your own risk. Deny them their rights at your own peril. Incite them at your own loss.

When they’ve had enough, when they’ve been some and tired of what’s eating them, these humans become feral dogs that will attack indiscriminately and vent out on pretty much anything – or anyone.

Nothing can stand in their way the moment they’ve had a bad day. Not the police, not the local administrator, not the public, nobody.

All they do is gang up,make a quick plan of vengeance, strategize, pick out a leader (rarely) and the descend into lawlessness and savagery.

Five Groups of People In Kenya You Seriously Do NOT WANT TO MESS WITH

1. Football Fans

mahia.jpg
Football fans all around the World are generally violent,quasi-fascist ruffians who will bulldoze their way in and around the pitch for whichever stupid reason. Recently, the World was horrified by the atrocities committed by Russian football fans against the less aggressive English fans during the turbulent Euro games across Europe. Russian soccer fans are mostly macho, ruthless thugs who will quash anything in their way and roar themselves into a victory. But they ain’t nothing compared to our local football fans mostly from the Gor Mahia faction. It’s usually said and repeated that Gor Mahia fans will cause massive havoc across the street whether they win OR not. It doesn’t ever matter. For them,a football match is always an opportunity for them to be savage and brutal, vandalizing and brutalizing everything and everyone on their way. The Nairobi City streets have suffered enough carnage under the ruthlessness of local football fans. AFC Leopards are not any better anyway. Dare steal a match,or trip their player or make errors on the pitch and you’ll face the music. Try being an incompetent, selective referee and you’ll live to tell the story. For our football fans, everything must run according to their wishes and plans and any little mishap could lead to a disastrous, violent riot t that will certainly cripple the city. And they’re never afraid of trouble. Don’t ever mess with these ruffians. Ever.

2. Raila Supporters

rao.jpg
Oh, please. As if you didn’t know that already. You can do anything, try anything, say anything and wish anything but just never take the name of Baba in vain. Living in Kenya has its town risks – unemployment, flash flooding,terrorism,insecurity,extra-judicial killings – but there’s something even more riskier than anything in Kenya – making Baba angry. Baba is worshiped around here. He doesn’t have followers, he has adherents. He has diehards who swear by his name, loyalists who have turned his ODM PARTY into a shrine. Don’t ever mess with their Party Leader. Don’t ever steal his elections. Don’t ever arrest him – or even think about it – and don’t ever hit the streets trying to malign Baba’s name. To his supporters,He’s a god. And deserves to be viewed as one. Always. In the past,we’ve seen how dangerous insulting Raila Odinga can be. We’ve seen his supporters burn effigies and set fire to entire buildings over Baba. We’ve witnessed his supporters block off major roads, yank off railway lines, descend on supermarkets and even terrorize the police all in the name of Baba. They don’t play. They mean business. It will be better to keep the name of Baba out of your mouth. Or you’ll find out the hard way. Ask Miguna Miguna. Don’t mess with Raila Supporters.

3. High School Students

It’s been in the news for the last two months or so. In fact,it has gotten so bad the tyrannical Education CS might seriously lose his job. Well,it’s happening. And it’s here. School fires everyone! Every single night, for the past one month,at least one high school goes up in flames. And no,it’s not because of a faulty spark in the power lines. And definitely not the work of intruders and local villagers. The school kids are setting up their own schools on fire. By themselves. From Kisii to Nakuru to Embu to Kiambu to Meru to Busia, all schools are going up in flames. It’s like we are raising arsonists. In fact, some three girls from a high school in Nakuru are in Court for razing down their school. Whatever you do,ladies and gentlemen, don’t ever deny these little rascals their rights. They will burn a whole school for the flimsiest of reasons. Try denying them meat or entertainment and they’ll burn down your office. Try asking them to go for preps or to take a cold shower and they’ll come for the administration block. Try denying them a trip to the neighboring school or setting up a random exam and they’ll reduce the Ksh. 5.6 million-worth school bus to ashes. These rats have become feral. And terribly dangerous. It’s either their way or the matchbox.

4. Boda Boda Riders

BODA-BODA.jpg
Aha! Another section of Kenyans that have become a law unto themselves. They’re actually the most feared and terrifying group of Kenyans. Their horror cannot even be matched by all of the horrors of the above three groups combined. Boda Boda riders are the real horror. Whatever you do,there are rules that govern the Boda Boda community – One,never hit one of them and attempt to run. Two,never attempt to hijack any of their members. Three, ever kill any other their members and dump his body in a thicket. Four, never attempt to rob any of their members. Five, never ever try to refuse to pay a Boda Boda rider for his services and six, never try breaking the law around an area infested with these members. Boda Boda riders are like vultures. It takes less than three minutes to have all of them, from the whole Constituency, gather at the scene of crime. I don’t know how they do it. But they have fantastic lobbying methods. Mess with any other their member and you’ll be surrounded by over 100 bikes. Hooting bikes. Mounted by bloodthirsty riders. You’ll be lucky to come out alive. They’re known to burn down matatus and storm police stations and lynch their enemies in broad daylight. They are the single most dangerous individuals you could ever come across.

5. Kenyans on Twitter

fre.jpg
Hmmmm. Not a lot of yu are scared of these ones. I mean, they don’t even have actual armoury. Just a keypad and a little knowledge of grammar and witty punchlines. But still, they’re not to be messed with. But unlike their counterparts,Kenyans on Twitter don’t necessarily need to wage a physical bloody war running into millions of shillings worth of losses. Their war is waged online. And if there’s something history has taught us,is that you cannot win a war with these Keyboard warriors. They’ve taken on countries and global news media giants. They’ve taken on Presidents and world icons. Kenyans on Twitter are a thoroughly dangerous lot. They’ll maul you in a way you’ve not seen before. And hang you out to dry. From ‪#‎SomeoneTellCnn‬ to ‪#‎SomeoneTellNigeria‬, Kenyans on Twitter have already won the online fight. Never anger them. Just never. You might have to delete your account. And move to a tiny, forgotten Caribbean Island.

And as Nyashinsky would say,Now You Know.

Stay safe.

Stunning News Anchor Beats NTV’s Trevor Ombija to Bag the second BBC World News Komla Dumor Award

BBC recently announced who was awarded the second BBC World News Komla Dumor Award after KTN’s Nancy Kacungira.

The award was set up in honor of presenter Komla Dumor who passed away in January 2014 and aims to continue Komla’s legacy by celebrating African journalism and finding exceptional talent.

This year’s recipient of the Komla Dumor Award is none other than business journalist and presenter, Didi Akinyelure who beat Kenya’s Olive Burrows and Trevor Ombija to bag this prestigious award.

Didi, a Nigerian with a passion for telling African stories – began her career in the financial sector before moving to journalism in 2011. Today, Didi produces and presents a business show for CNBC, which is watched across the continent. She is experienced in business reporting, having anchored CNBC Africa’s daily show ‘Open Exchange’ from West Africa for over three years. Didi is passionate about social entrepreneurs and has covered several stories about those who are transforming the African business landscape.

Akinyelure joined CNBC Africa in Lagos in 2013, where she is an anchor for prime time news. She has reported hard-hitting business stories from across Western Africa. She also created, produces and presents a weekly segment called ‘Entrepreneur of the Week’, which aims to inspire small and medium sized enterprises in Africa. Prior to beginning her journalism career in 2011, Didi worked in asset management.

Joining the BBC News teams in London, Didi will begin a three month placement in September. This placement provides the opportunity to gain skills and experience by attending a course with the BBC Academy, and working with teams across BBC News on TV, radio and online, reaching the BBC’s audiences of 348 million across the world each week. She will also have the opportunity to travel to a country in Africa, with a top BBC producer, to report on a story for a global audience.

Didi said, “I am completely overwhelmed and excited to win this prestigious award. I am honoured that the BBC chose me out of hundreds of applicants. Komla Dumor was someone I admired. He told the African story with so much passion for the continent, giving a balanced view and inspiring so many. You could tell that he loved what he did every single day and, I hope with this opportunity, I can continue Komla’s great work.”

Didi impressed the judges with her enthusiasm and tenacity in getting to the heart of a story, and helping audiences make sense of some of Africa’s complex issues. Her passion for telling Africa’s diverse stories and challenging preconceived stereotypes reflect Komla’s own devotion to the continent and, as part of his legacy, Didi will be able to share her enthusiasm with the BBC’s global audience.

Josephine Hazeley, Deputy Editor for BBC Africa, said, “We were looking for a journalist who has the passion, pride and eloquence that Komla Dumor possessed – someone who would be able to follow in his footsteps by telling compelling African stories. Didi particularly excels in telling business stories, which was an area Komla was also passionate about. Komla’s death was a huge loss to everyone at the BBC, and especially the Focus on Africa team, so we’re really pleased to have found a worthy winner of the award that we established in his name.”

Nancy Kacungira

Nancy Kacungira, last year’s winner of the BBC World News Komla Dumor Award said: “The past year has been an incredible journey for me – from being told I’d won the award to training with BBC Academy; from learning from some of the world’s best journalists to working for the BBC. I’m sure Didi will find the experience exceptionally rewarding, and I hope we can both continue Komla’s great work.”

“The Country Has Failed. The Leadership Has Failed. I’m Not Even Safe to Go to Juba.”Emmanuel Jal Says As He Tells South Sudanese Leaders Salva Kiir and Riek Machar to Step Down

Last night on The Stream on Al Jazeera English, award-winning South Sudanese singer and peace activist Emmanuel Jal called on both president Salva Kiir and first vice president Riek Machar to step down.

“The country has failed. The leadership has failed. I’m not even safe to go to Juba,” said Jal. “Both leaders should step aside, put a new government in place.”

Jal criticised the recent arrest of Alfred Taban, the editor-in-chief of the Juba Monitor newspaper, after he published a column calling for Kiir and Machar to step down.

Jal also reminded viewers that he was a refugee in Canada because he had been beaten unconscious by police in 2012 in South Sudan, where he had wanted to settle and host a peace concert.

“Because I saw so many people suffering and I wanted to open my mouth, I was almost killed,” he said. “Not everybody is supporting the rebel movement but if they continue to create this abuse with time there is going to be a revolution. You can’t use force on people; give people freedom, let them have the freedom of speech.”

Both Jal and Brian Adeba, associate director of policy at Enough Project, called for an intervention from a third force.

“We need a third force in South Sudan,” said Adeba. “Without a third force, the country will disintegrate. However, that third force should come in through a mutual agreement from all the parties involved in this conflict and not be an end in itself.”

Adeba also called for “targeted sanctions,” saying, “South Sudan is at a very critical juncture at the moment. It is sitting on a cliff. One small nudge and it will tumble over the cliff and when that happens you will have Rwanda in 1994 and Somalia in 1999 combined. You will have ethnic pogroms taking place across the country and a total disintegration of the state. So the international community has to step in.”

Asked if the current leadership would accept a third force, James Gatdet Dak, Machar’s spokesperson, said the first vice president would only accept an intervention from the United Nations Mission in South Sudan. “Any other force we will not accept it.”

Ateny Wek Ateny, Kiir’s spokesperson, said an outside force was unnecessary. “The two leaders can work perfectly well. President Salva Kiir said it on Monday – first vice president Machar is still his first vice president and they are determined to implement the peace agreement.”

Ateny pointed out that there are already 12 000 UN troops in South Sudan “who have not done anything” so questioned why increasing the number of foreign troops would help the situation. “A third party force will not be acceptable because it will just aggravate the situation in South Sudan.”

Ateny also blamed the current crisis on international interference in the last peace agreement. “Last time the international community failed to accept the advice we gave them. We said two armies will not be workable… If the first vice president is also to accept that he is part of the government, he shouldn’t have his own forces. Now it was seen on Friday how devastating is having two armies.”

Host Femi Oke asked both Dak and Ateny hard questions about why South Sudan was fighting, but grew frustrated with their answers. “Ateny, you have a list of grievances, James has a list of grievances, and you just keep arguing about your grievances…. It’s a very depressing conversation. I wish I could see some way forward and some hope but all I hear are grievances and counter-grievances.”

Patriotism Brings Out The Rage In A Usually Polite Citizen TV’s Waihiga Mwaura. See How He Bashed British Movie Makers For Another CNN-Like Blunder

Who knew Waihiga Mwaura could be emphatically assertive?? His perceived introvert character faded when he bashed British film makers.

Last year, CNN labeled Kenya a hotbed of terror just a few days before President Barack Obama touched down in Nairobi. Kenyans were quick to fire back at CNN for their misguided preconceived opinion.

British film makers kinda repeated the blunder CNN did when they produced a movie about Kenya dubbed “Eye in the Sky”.

The movie is about a drone attack on a terrorist cell in Eastleigh, Nairobi, which was shown as a ‘hotbed’ of terror.

Waihiga Mwaura’s patriotic instincts kicked in when he saw the movie and he decided to bash British film makers for what he termed as portraying Kenya in bad light.

“This movie nullifies the efforts of the Kenyan Govt to market Kenya as a safe destination. Eastleigh is portrayed as the wild, wild west where armed militia operate in plain site on dusty roads .Parklands is depicted as a hub for Al Shabaab. Thousands actually millions of potential tourists must have watched this movie. No wonder they are all headed to Tanzania & Zanzibar.” Waihiga Mwaura wrote.
