John Sakaja Clinches Another Honor As He Is Set To Attend Hillary Clinton’s Nomination Ceremony

July has been a good month for TNA Chairman and nominated MP Johnson Sakaja.

The month began with him winning the African Change Maker of the year for his work with the youth. The award placed him on quite a strong pedestal putting him on the continental platform. Just as the momentum from the award had began to wane he just landed an invitation to one of the biggest event in US this year, the National Democratic Convention.

Given that this is an election year, the two US parties, Republicans and Democrats have a national convention at which they officially announce their running candidates. At a similar convention, in 2004 Barrack Obama gave a keynote speech that would propel him to national prominence paving way for his 2008 elections.

Sure Sakaja will not be giving any speeches but he will be in good company all and around him.The invite alone adds him further prestige and standing.

DP Ruto Rescued In Kapendo After His Chopper Lost Direction And Ran Out Of Fuel

Ruto’s chopper ‘burnt’ lot of fuel after it lost direction for hours and got stranded in Kapedo area.

It seems the Deputy President has no luck with choppers or something… Just the other day his pilot, Alistair, showed him in bad light after he was involved in a confrontation with a female officer.

Ruto once again found himself in another awkward situation with a chopper over the weekend when the helicopter he was travelling in lost direction.

The Deputy was picked from Kericho on Saturday by a chopper which was to drop him off in Baringo to attend a public function.

But the DP’s chopper lost direction and found itself in Kapedo area. The Standard reports that Ruto’s chopper kept doing rounds in Kapedo as the pilot, Stefan from South Africa, tried to locate Tangulbei where he was to land.

The pilot was forced to land at Kapedo at the foot of Silale Hills after running low on fuel. Another chopper had to be dispatched to pick the DP and fly him to Baringo.

Anita Nderu Weighs in on Huddah Monroe and Vera Sidika’s Fight Over Flat Tummy Tea

Flat Tummy Tea is a popular all natural herbal detox teas which promises to cleanse your system, support metabolism and reduce bloating.

If you are a social media fan, M sure you have spotted some Instagram models and celebrities with bodies to die for promoting this tea.

flat__tummt_treacrop.jpg

Now, this product seems to have caused a rift between Huddah and Vera Sidika.

Vera claims that she is the Flat Tummy brand ambassador and claims that she started working with the detox product since 2015 while Huddah said that she is the official brand ambassador.

Now the two socialites left their fans really entertained when they started beefing over who is the flat tummy tea ambassador, trading insults and receipts like there is no tomorrow.

celeb_chronciles.png

A fight that has left Anita Nderu’s jaw on the floor that she had to take to Snapchat to explain how she feels about this fight.

Anita expressed her disbelief over this fight and wondered out loud why these two girls are fighting over flat tummy tea and yet there are girls out there taking bullets in order to make the lives of other girls better i.e. Malala Yousafzai.

“I’m not saying you have to get shot to be good role model; come on you know what I mean …Malala is an amazing role model because of the trouble she has to endure for girls to be educated.”Anita said as a way of encouraging her female followers to promote girl power instead of girl fights.

Radio Maisha’s Presenter Alex Mwakideu And Wife Expecting A Baby (Photos)

It is not just female celebrities who are popping babies, now Radio Maisha’s Alex Mwakideu has joined the bandwagon representing his men counterparts.

Sure he may not be rocking a sexy bulging baby bump but his wife does. The celebrated morning presenter and his wife have one beautiful daughter named Zemirah and are now looking forward to introducing another member to the young family. The popular presenter had previously shared a photo of him and his wife showing the little bump but today he went a step further.

Alex did went down the knees for what is arguably the second sweetest joy for a man on his knees as he planted a huge kiss on the now quite big baby bump. The couple has not shared anything more.

We congratulate the couple and wish them a successful and an uneventful pregnancy term and cannot wait to welcome the latest celebrity baby in town. Here are the photos:

If your weekend was dull and cold, the future Makinis certainly had an active one trying to fend off rumors.

In a post on Facebook, Robert Alai revealed that the King of bling tried hijacking a resident of Nyayo Estate while high on drugs.

“Prezzo high on hard drugs tried to hijack a resident of Nyayo estate. Now arrested and booked into Embakasi police station. Threatening Nyayo Estate guards with guns. Don’t try in Nyayo.” Alai wrote.

Socialite Linda Bakhita Storms Into Kiss FM To Confront Gospel Singer Hope Kid Whom She Accuses Of “Impregnating And Dumping Her”

She claimed Hope Kid dumped her after siring a daughter with her!

Linda Bakhita, her two friends and her lawyer disrupted live broadcasting at Kiss FM when they stormed the radio station to confront gospel singer Hope Kid who was being interviewed by Jeff Mote and Chipukeezy.

The well endowed socialite claimed the ‘Holiday’ hit maker was a deadbeat dad who sired a baby girl with her.

Bakhita and her company disrupted the Kiss FM show demanding to leave with Hope Kid whom they wanted to take to the nearby Westlands Police Station.

A frightened Hope Kid was almost having a heart attack only to be told the whole drama was just a prank on him.

Watch the video below to see how the drama at Kiss FM unfolded:

He has been given a new lease on life with a mega contract in Kenya that no local artist has ever landed!

Onetime Tanzania’s sensation Mr. Nice is back on limelight after a series of slip-ups that saw his career almost going down the drain.

Mr. has inked a one year deal with Soko Bay International Limited that will see him perform in the 47 counties in Kenya.

Speaking to Bongo 5, the rusty singer said he will have at least a show every weekend in Kenya.

“Ni mkataba wa mwaka mmoja, so ndani ya mwaka mmoja show ni nyingi sana, na nimehakikishiwa angalau show moja every weekend, na kama unavyojua huku wenzetu burudani ni kila siku haina Jumatatu wala weekend but uhakika ni angalau show moja kila wiki lazma iwepo na itakuwa ni tour ya nchi nzima ya kenya na ndiyo maana imepewa jina la 47 County Tour,” ( It’s a one year contact, I have been assured of one show a week as I will be touring the whole of Kenya; that’s why the tour has been called “47 County Tour”.

Not even Sauti Sol have toured 47 counties in the country to perform, Mr. Nice’s deal sure will re-introduce him to his Kenyans fans.

ELANI: You are Loosing your Unique Sound, Style and Overall Appeal and It’s Breaking our Hearts

Elani. An Afro-pop band that blew up circa 2013 with a club banger that incredibly swept away dance floors, thrusting the threesome into instant fame and popularity. Jana Usiku,Elani’s first commercial release was certified an instant success – a groovy beat, stirring vocals, lively tempo and a colorful video that immediately hooked Kenyans and launched the singers to national fame.

But despite the fact that this was the group’s first ever commercial single, released on radio, the band had not just met ; they’d been together for more than five years, writing, performing, strategizing, composing, creating.

They trio, comprising of Wambui Ngugi, Brian Chweya and Maureen Kunga, met in 2008 at the famous Alliance Francaise, the city hub of creativity and nascent dreams.

Couple years later, they delved into their musical passions seriously and ended up becoming a smash band in 2013,releasing successful hit after successful hit,and an album too and playing at a sold-out concert that saw thousands of their fans jam the Impala Grounds to watch these viral superstars masterfully do their thing in a euphoric concert that stamped out their unquestionable victory over the rough terrains of music.

All was going great for Elani – massive popularity, instant smash hits, widespread media coverage,a sizzling album, you name it.

But before all of that, this was a niche band that wasn’t exactly what would be called mainstream – in fact, prior to their massive success, their record label dropped them citing a lack of any financial gain that would ever be realized from the trio.

Spiritedly, the band moved from playing at small venues for small crowds to throwing massive knockout performances across the City.

At the height of their popularity, they also dropped even more successful singles- Barua ya Dunia,Milele and Kookoo. But it was Kookoo that made them legends, with the song not just enjoying unprecedented airplay but also breaking download records and amassing a staggering one million plus views on YouTube.

Not a mean feat for a fresh Kenyan band.

The success wouldn’t last long however and the trio quickly fell off the radar, held off recording more material and quite literally, disappeared from the musical scene all together.

They would later emerge to provide a rather flimsy excuse as to why they had disappeared from the musical map – blaming it all on MSCK,a music board tasked with collecting and distributing revenues for local artists.

Despite the fact that their little YouTube explanation went viral, and tugged at our heartstrings,it was still a silly, childish excuse that didn’t still hold water.

The band lamented about the measly royalties that they received from the unscrupulous copyright board and cried over their struggling finances but that still didn’t explain their absence. It couldn’t explain their absence.

elani-speaks-kenyan-band.jpg

Pop Band,Elani

A section of Kenyans bought their little story and showed up,fist in the air,for the pity party.

The other section of Kenyans dismissed the bollocks, terming it inconsequential and lame.

And then, just around that time, with their notoriety still buzzing, they dropped a single featuring Ugandan dancehall ace Chameleone.

A 40-second snippet of the song, titled My Darling (oh please) was uploaded onto YouTube and fans were encouraged to buy the whole version for as little as Ksh. 30.

People were flummoxed.

Speaking to Showbuzz,a local gossip outlet,Brian Chweya claimed that charging for their new single was not occasioned by the impoverished status that MSCK allegedly plunged them into.

“It was not really because of the MCSK debacle but rather we are looking for different avenues of making revenue from our music and possibly see how this strategy can work. People are buying the song and we are so grateful to our amazing fan base that keeps on supporting our music. You never know how it will pan out; we created this platform for ourselves and it is slowly picking up,” he said.

Still,an implausible explanation. After all, this is band composed of High Court advocates and everything they say must be taken with a pinch of salt.

Let’s not even delve into the small matter for charging a small amount for their small collaboration. Let’s look at the song, for instance.

To be brutally honest,My Darling was an immediate flop. And a total disaster that should never have happened.

Chameleone didn’t show up with his A-game. The beat was rather bland and recycled, the vocals were great, all right, but the whole effort left a bad taste in the mouth.

The song never became the smash hit they wanted it to be. The video, which was an overall disappointment finally, also took too long to be finally released and I won’t even get into the guy who directed it. Or asked the trio to wear all black.

The whole Chameleone /Elani affair was a train wreck; an effort that wasn’t worth undertaking.

The song plummeted. And no one remembers it – or dances to it today.

Unlike Chameleone’s work with Leila Kayondo on the smash hit Relaxing, his work with Elani just tanked. They just couldn’t gel, their styles couldn’t match, their vocals overrode each other, the beat didn’t match Elani’s sound and the message,oh the message, was absolute gibberish.

Undaunted,Elani quickly jumped to bed with Jaguar,a man more renown for his flashy cars, endless millions and an eternal rivalry with Prezzo than for his musical talent – assuming there is any.

And just like with Chameleone,a man whose style just couldn’t match theirs,at all at all, Elani attempted even more suicide with Jaguar.

Man,for the love of God,you don’t even want to gamble a priced recording session with Jaguar. You just don’t want.

But it happened anyway. And we ended up with Sirudi,an NGO-esque anthem against domestic abuse. Oh,what a novel idea.

Again, the band sounded lost and confused against a backdrop of a severely horrible beat and a Jaguar that pretty much says nothing much – except the usual, annoying Jaguar nuances that you find in all of his songs.

And then their video director, whoever that was, decided to cast Wambui and Brian as the couple in the music video.

Pure disaster.

The message is quickly lost and buried in the lame plot, lackluster acting, poor cast, pathetic storyline, simplistic ending and an overall banal song made to excite a couple honchos at FIDA.

Elani seems to be in a desperate rush to conquer the pop World and to go as mainstream as they can,and it’s certainly not working.

A band renown for such glorious vocals, amazing songwriting, masterful compositions and beautiful melodies is now descending into a dark abyss of lame lyrics, chintzy songs, cheap melodies and forgettable tunes all in an attempt to have cross over appeal, reach more mainstream audiences, gain some street credibility and emerge as major players in the world of pop music.

Which is really not what we know Elani for.

The three bandmates must resist the urge to run allover the place doing shoddy collaborations at the expense of their own superior talent and unique sound.

The beautiful Elani sound has gone. Has died and has been buried.

The sound has been swallowed up by a confused state of mind, bad lyricism, substandard collaborations and a deathly desire to rise again, soar again and conquer the charts again.

Of late,Elani has been losing. Big time.

It’s time the young band went back to their old calling, their old sound, their old style.

Haphazard collabos allover town are killing the trio. And it’s a sad,sad day in music.

Get well soon,Elani.

celeb5xjuliani1brenda.jpg

The million dollar question many have never found an answer to is how the hell Juliani trounced Nick Mutumu to win the heart of Brenda Wairimu.

Brenda and Nick have been described as the perfect couple that was never to be. Juliani somehow managed to score himself an eye candy many thought was way out of his league.

Haters are keen up with Juliani/Brenda Wairimu’s whereabouts expecting to hear the bad news about their breakup but so far it seems they will have to wait a little longer.

4. Chantal Grazioli and Eric Omondi

celeb1xEric-Omondi-Chantal.jpg

Everybody felt pity for Eric Omondi when Citizen TV’s Jacque Maribe dumped him for Uhuru’s communications honcho, Dennis Itumbi.

But Eric Omondi turned the misfortune into luck as he hooked up Chantal Grazioli whom he quickly got engaged to.

Eric and Chantal are persons of interest to many Kenyans as they have turned their love story to a major advertising campaign on social media.

Kenyans will only be more interested on Eric and Chantal’s whereabouts now that word has it that his half Italian half Kenyan sweetheart is pregnant.

5. Bob Collymore and Wambui Kamiru

cele6bobnwahuii.jpg

Bob and his wife Wambui dominated google search for almost a month after they exchanged vows in April this year.

Haters spew venom on the couple due to reasons I don’t want to mention because I don’t want a date with National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) boss, Francis Ole Kaparo, if my get the drift.

But still any news about Bob and Wambui is a hotcake in blogosphere!

Popular Poet And Spoken Word Artist, GchoPevu Arrested By Administration For Having A Sankara Bereta Cap

Even when they have come under intense bashing and scrutiny, the police especially the Administration Police seem hell bent on becoming the most hated security force.

While their colleagues are still in the coolers facing murder charges of lawyer Willy Kimani, his client and their taxi driver, AP police offiers arrested a poet for a mere cap. Popular poet Gichopevu known as much as for his wordplay as he is for his Sankara bereta cap was accosted by the police officers who stopped him and proceeded to arrest him for the mere reason of having the cap.

Sustained pressure from friends and activists as well as KOT saw the AP release the poet but retained the bereta cap. His story was first shared Boniface Mwangi and later taken up by #KOT.

Check Out The Amazing Cover Of Sauti Sol’s ‘Kuliko Jana’ By Upperhill Secondary School

Sauti Sol recently released their highly-anticipated third album Live and Die in Afrika to rave reviews and critical acclaim.

The 15-track album included hits like Sura Yako, Shake Yo Bam Bam , Relax, Live and Die in Afrika and Isabella.

But one unreleased song has caught the country by storm, that is Kuliko Jana featuring Aaron Rimbui which in my opinion is the best song in the album.

 {youtube}KHlEd9WpnKM{/youtube}

So I was pretty delighted to see a cover done by Upper Hill secondary school which Mudigi, Bien and Chimano went to.

Below is the Kuliko Jana song performance done by the Upper Hill School Choir also known as Redfourth Chorus and Flo:

Caroline Mutoko Takes On Pretenders As She Defends Ghafla And Mpasho

Caroline Mutoko has taken time to define the digital scene for the hypocrites, pretenders and those in self denial.

The former radio queen turned YouTuber has decided to make it plain to people that they do love the local blogs, socialite stories and all the controversies posted by Ghafla and other such sites. In quite a candid view she made it clear that criticizing and bashing sites the same individuals voluntarily go to is pretty childish.

She might have even stepped on Biko’s fans toes when she said it takes her sharing of Biko articles for them to go viral despite their quality. She has called on the readers to actually be truthful and understand the changing sphere of media consumption especially in the face of digital platforms.  On that note we do appreciate you who read us, whether a loyal fun or a baited reader, we are sure are not the ‘monsters’ just viewing life from a different crazier angle. Have an appreciative day.

Here is the video from her quite popular YouTube channel.

Some hair experts predicted that the popularity of the hipster beard, or lumberjack beard would wane in 2016, but the trend is not going anywhere.

In fact an increasing number of men are growing their hair out and the ladies are not complaining especially if their beards are clean and well trimmed. Mainly because beards (except moustaches) have become the ultimate symbol of manliness.

Today we look at some celebrities whose sex-appeal has been on an all-time high since they grew out their facial manes.

Aww! Linda Nyangweso Officially Introduces Her Beautiful Daughter ‘Megan Brooklyn Hawi’ To the World (Photo)

The latest celebrity baby in town is Megan Brooklyn Hawi Osiro who was born towards the end of last month, June 25th to be specific.

Her mum, Linda Nyangweso recently took to social media to describe how her first few weeks of raising a newborn are, and truth be told, she is preaching some real isht.

Not those glamorous, flowery things you see on social media, Linda Nyangweso’s experience is the real deal. Read it below; you won’t regret it;

“I wanted to come on here and make it seem like the last week has been the best week of my life and just that but I decided not to lie. Sure it would’ve been easier to fake it for the gram but I wish someone had told me the truth. A week ago tomorrow God open the floodgates and my little girl was dramatically born! #lookatgod #showingoff #blessed .But I wish someone had told me that no matter how healthy you try and remain during pregnancy and how you resisted at sushi/wine night with @kadzo_ ,something may go wrong. Completely out of your control. And it’s not your fault. Your body has not failed. You aren’t any less of a mother. Your baby is here. When they show you her picture while you’re just waking up from what feels like a car wreck, you may not fall instantly head over heels, movie tears in love. And that’s ok. Do not feel guilty. You still love your baby. #allBabieslooklikegrumpyoldmenatfirst #canigetanamen #dontjudge.

I wish someone told me DO NOT LOOK IN THE MIRROR RIGHT AWAY! Yes everything has shifted at least a few inches south! #winteriscoming. I wish someone told me I would limp, be sore and feel like I was failing from day one. But that we all feel like that. But this too shall pass. I wish someone would have told me that one day I would pray, as in tongues, as in natuma ksh 310,for leaky nipples. Hang in there. I also wish though had told you that as much as you’re an emotional train wreck, you are that baby’s emotional light house.

And I bet you you’ll cry at least once over something stupid. Sob #HEREYEBROWSARESOONFLEEK #sob. But when it’s good. It’s really good. I wish someone told me that even if you think you know someone inside out after 7 years, you will learn in an instant what an amazing human being they truly are once they become a father. #daddysgirl .I wish someone told me the first time she heard me sing and smiled, probably just gas, I’d want to wear under wear over my pants and a towel for a cape for the rest of my life. I wish someone told me that even if you’re a “private” person, and “don’t do” social media much, as soon as you saw her, you knew every post for the rest of your life after that would most probably be about her. Megan Brooklyn Hawi Osiro.#june25″ she wrote before sharing this photo

Meet The Lucky Mombasa Traffic Officer Who Got Promoted After Willy Mutunga Praised His Work Online (Videos)

A traffic county officer in Mombasa has earned the rare honor of having none other than the governor of Mombasa granting him his promotion.

Hassan Joho feted the officer in a ceromony personally handing him the promotion and badge. This came after a number of people including the former Chief Justice Willy Mutunga shared a video off him efficiently and with an ever present smile controlling traffic in a busy section in Mombasa. That was back in June and a month later he got his due reward. The officer was later identified as Aziddin Said and has been promoted in an awarding ceremony by the governor here are the two videos

The Chaos Netanyahu Caused On Nairobi Roads When He Visited Will Be Replicated For 7 Days When 23 Heads Of State Visit Nairobi Starting Tomorrow

Expect another sickening traffic nightmare for a whole week as 23 heads of state are set to jet into the country starting this Saturday!

No president will be stuck in a traffic jam with you; police will block roads to allow visiting heads of state and government to cruise in Nairobi without no so much of a traffic light interfering with the movement of their motorcades.

Nairobians have been advised to brace for another major gridlock as a total of 23 heads of state and 7,000 delegates are expected to arrive in Nairobi for the 14th session of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) that will be held at Kenyatta International Conference Centre (KICC).

UNCTAD conference will run as from this coming Saturday July 16th to 22nd, in other word it means seven days of traffic snarl up.

But not to worry, you can use Nairobi commuter rail to commute as no railway track will be closed, or just use a chopper as a cab if you can afford one.

NTV’s Jane Ngoiri Shows off Her Growing Baby Bump as She Nears Due Date and Reveals Baby’s Gender (Photo)

Pregnancy can go two ways, the hormones can either rage havoc on your skin and leave you with hard-to-treat acne or give you an enviable glow that not even the best make-up can give.

Luckily, Jane Ngoiri is among the lucky who pregnancy has favored as she looks hotter than you have ever seen before.

The beautiful NTV news-anchor showed off her burgeoning baby bump and thanked her baby for giving her that desirable pregnancy glow.

“He gave me the Best Glow Ever…My Baby Boy. Soon you will outgrow my Lap but never my Heart!’’ she wrote alongside this photo.

Brenda Wairimu Reveals Why She Hides Her Baby’s Face

It has been close to one and a half years, since Brenda welcomed her first baby with Rapper Juliani.

But despite being a very public figure, no one has seen Brenda Wairimu’s baby except close family and friends.

Despite the constant imploring from her fans, Brenda has not fallen for the pressure and showed her baby’s face. And there is a good reason for that, speaking to Larry Madowo on a recent episode of The Trend, Brenda said “We are a very young family and we do not want to subject our family to scrutiny …I’m very protective of things I hold dear …My baby has not been on social media, you can see the back of her head and her feet but not really her face.”

brenda_bababy.jpg

And Brenda says that the reason for this is that she doesn’t want to subject her baby to public scrutiny in case she grows up to be a private person.

She went on to reveal that she has nothing against people who want to show off their babies and create accounts on social media, but she does not want to make such a decision for her daughter Amor.

Huddah Monroe- Bad Girl Coming Good? See The Revolution Of One Of Kenya’s Most Scandalous Showbiz Personalities (Photos)

Kenya’s most popular socialite Huddah Monroe has actively embarked on a path of redemption.

Before I move on let me address the two assertions already stated. She is definitely the one socialite that all neutrals seem to like in any conversation and for a more measurable metric, look at her InstaGram followers. The business and life of socialites is all about the show, the camera clicks and the buzz.

It makes InstaGram followers the best way to rank popularity and in this case, the lass blows her nearest competitors out of the water. She has 762k followers to Vera’s 357k and Corazon’s 217k. The others like Pendo and Bridgette Achieng’ come in far behind with a measly 25.3k and 30.5k respectively.

On the redemption bit, even her new bio states her mission, Bad Girl Gone good. For so long Vera Sidika has been the trendsetter in the ‘Socialite Industry’ yet Huddah Monroe seems to have stolen the rug under her in terms of PR and endorsements. This lady is sure doing well as far as Image branding goes and whatever the value of her endorsements, she is sure building quite a portfolio and pretty first. She is also into acting.

And now she just reveal she is the first Black bottle girl of Luc Belaire Rare Rose , an alcohol brand promoted by the likes of Rick Ross. While the major of her brand positioning is geared to suit her lifestyle, Huddah has gone one extra step to add a human feature to it all.

She has a foundation…Huddah Monroe foundation (I hear the sarcastic laughs and sneers) and through it she has partnered with Diana Aketch a beautician supplying free wigs to ladies suffering from cancer. She is also now in another initiative this time joining the Safisha Nairobi campaign distributing her cool branded trash bags.

Before Lisa Martinez Started Swimming In A Pool Of Money, She Used To Pose In Maize Plantations And Rich People’s Bathrooms (Photos)

She shocked Kenyans posing with insane sum of money enough to fill a bank’s vault. But before Lisa Martinez graduated to swimming in a pool of money, she used to pose in maize plantations!

A single shilling note is hard to come by for most Kenyans; seeing Lisa Martinez flaunt hundreds of a thousand shilling bill sure raises eyebrows.

But Lisa just didn’t wake up and started showing off insane sum of money, she gradually rose through the ranks to get to her seventh heaven.

The socialite used to pose in maize plantations and in bathrooms waving hand-held shower head in utter excitement probably due to culture shock.

But the good Lord has since blessed her with lots of money to pose with. Below are photos of Martinez posing in maize plantation and bathrooms before she got the fame and money:

Mad Love! Bahati Showered With Groupie Love By Wild High School Students In Karatina

Bahati took love to Karatina and it was well received and reciprocated!

“In Love” singer was in Karatina, Nyeri County for yet another gospel mission to a girls’ school in the region.

The gospel singer was literally swept off his feet by the mad love shown to him by bewildered high school students.

Bahati was ambushed at the field by the students who were eager to touch his hair and grab whatever piece of him they could hold.

He tried setting himself free but the students kept on besieging him with shouts of appreciation and astonishment.

A Suprising Turn Of Events As Striking Form Four In Tharaka Nithi Students Vent Their Anger On A School Goat

The past few weeks have seen a spike in the number of destructive strikes across the nation.

South Nyanza, the southern part of the rift valley have been hard hit in the wave of destruction that have seen school after school engulfed in smoke as dormitories, halls and administration buildings were burnt. The latest incident suggests that the problem is yet to be solved but at least, the burning has taken a different direction.

Students of Egakaremba Secondary school in Tharaka Nithi went on strike protesting against a cancellation of an academic trip as well as the numerous CATs they were being given. The28 students in their protests decided to vent their anger and admittedly hunger on the school goat which they roasted and devoured.

When the area chief and other security personnel responded, they were able to calm the students down thanks to their being already satisfied with a rare delicacy on the school menu. It was quite an interesting turn of events with no more loses or disruption as students settled in class. I guess, at times all it takes is a sacrificial goal…

6 Interesting TitBits About Agnes Zani, ODM’s Beautiful And Able Replacement For Ababu Namwamba For The Secretary General Position. She Packs A Punch

After much push and pull, drama, accusation and counter-accusations, ODM has finally replaced Ababu Namwamba as the Secretary General.

Appointed in his place is a lady who had previously served as one of the two Deputy Secretary Generals. Even though she has been appointed in acting capacity, Dr, Agnes Zani has all it takes to sure manage and handle the position. It sure would be  a great coup since all the parties are hugely dominated by men in all dockets and despite the increased numbers of women in both houses, key party organs in most parties are held by men.

agneszani2.jpg

Dr. Zani a nominated Senator has proven to be an ardent ODM/CORD supporter and here are a couple of interesting facts about her that make her quite a real and lively person.

1. She is married to her campus love

While many campus relationships hardly see the light of day come the end of the studies, Dr. Zani is married to her campus love. More astounding is the fact that the two met in second year. For the romantic at heart it will be perhaps interesting that she didn’t get a fancy date for her engagement. She got her engagement proposal under a tree. For such a beautiful lady, the man sure pushed his luck and he is lucky.

2. She has made over 370 speeches in Parliament

drzani.jpg

Quick research reveals that unlike most Senators and MPs who make their appearances in public mostly out of parliament in rallies, she is quite a hard worker. Despite what you would expect is a busy schedule she indeed racked in 370 speeches with June 2015 being her best moth contributing to 53 speeches. In her time she has sponsored one bill at the house. This was The National Resources (Benefit Sharing) Bill 2014.

3. She Is Not Afraid of Political Street Battles

zanidr2.PNG

While Ababu Namwamba was heavily criticized for his absence in the streets during the IEBC MUST GO riots, this lady was facing it all. From the smoke to the running and the stinging jets of water she was there through it all. At least ODM can be sure the troop will not lack a general to rally them especially in the run in to the general elections.

zanidr.PNG

4. Rhumba is What She Grooves To

Let not the ‘geekish’ looks fool you. Dr. Zani does love her music and dancing to it. Her selection of choice is Rhumba and she goes to Carnivore for their Rhumba sessions.

5. She is a trained Martial Artist In Two disciplines

Perhaps her endurance of the protests and determination borrows something from her martial arts training while in campus. At the University of Nairobi she trained for Judo and Karate attaining a Green belt in the latter. So where Ababu was complaining of firing blanks, this lady will be kicking doors open literally

6. She is an Expert in Sociology

drzani3.jpg

At a time when the Kenyan political and public is filled with personalities of questionable academic qualification whether it is degrees or PHDs, Dr Zani counts herself among the accomplished academicians deserving of their titles. She studied a BA in Sociology in 1990 and later in 1994 a Masters degree in the same. All were at the UON and she would later join Oxford Univerity for her PHD in sociology graduating in 2007.

#PrayForFrance France Suffers Another Horrific Terror Attack Leaving 80 Dead and Many Injured (Photos and Videos)

France is still reeling from a night attack that has been described as a terror attack.

The attack took place in the city of Nice where thousands of citizens were on the streets celebrating the National Day Bastille Day. Unlike previous attacks where the terrorists usually employed bombs or shot into crowds of people, this time a truck said to have been filled with explosives and ridden by one armed driver ploughed into the crowd resulting in confirmed deaths of 80 people leaving about 100 more seriously injured.

The terror attack has been described as the second worst terror attack after the stadium bombing last year. Reposts from eye witnesses and international media say the truck caused carnage over a 2 kilometer distance as the driver emerged out to shooting in the crowd and exchanging fire with the police.

He was finally shot and the truck stopped. France president has condemned the attack saying ‘The terrorist character (of the attack) cannot be denied,’ He has extended the state of emergency which was due to end this month by three other months. World leaders have all condemned the attack pledging solidarity with France.

Here are some of the emerging photos and videos from the attack.

6 ‘Forgotten’ News Anchors And Reporters Who Are Faring Exceptionally Well After Ditching Their Jobs At Local TV Stations (Photos)

2011/2012 saw news anchors and reporters quit their jobs at local TV stations to join China-owned CCTV Africa as it was being launched in Kenya.

CCTV Africa recruited a number Kenyan journalists when it was launched in Kenya on January 11, 2012. Most of these journalists have been ‘forgotten’ by Kenyans yet they are faring exceptionally well at CCTV Africa.

Below is a list of popular journalists working for CCTV Africa.

1. Beatrice Marshall

beatruc1cctbafreo11.jpg

She was among the top cream TV anchors that underlined the face KTN when the Mombasa Road-based TV station was everything in as far news reporting is concerned.

While Beatrice no longer enjoys the admiration with Kenyan viewers, she is a respectable figure in Africa. Beatrice is a news anchor on CCTV Africa where she also hosts ‘Talk Africa, a weekly talk show that provides viewers with an inside look at political and economic affairs and trends in Africa.

2. Ramah Nyang

ramah23uicctv.jpg

Ramah Nyang is another journalist who joined CCTV Africa from KTN. He used to anchor business news at KTN and also produced KTN’s morning show ‘Sunrise’.

Nyang is currently a business anchor and a reporter at CCTV Africa.

3. Peninah Karibe

peninah1cctv24566.jpg

You can best remember her during her stint at NTV. Peninah Karibe joined NTV from KBC radio where she had worked for five years.

She started off at NTV as a weather presenter and rose through the ranks to become a news anchor. Peninah joined CCTV Africa as a news anchor.

She has also done international assignments such as reporting on regional stability like the Kenya war on Al Shabaab in Somalia and effects of the 1998-2003 DR Congo conflict.

4. Mahia Mutua

mahia345ccty88.jpg

Just like Larry Madowo, Mahia Mutua joined KTN as an intern and ended up getting employed full-time as a trainee-reporter.

He moved to Kiss TV as a sports reporter and anchor before CCTV Africa recruited him to serve in same capacity.

5. Robert Nagila

robert23nagilacctbv.jpg

Who can dare forget Robert Nagila?? Nagila was the most famous reporter in Kenya when he used to work for NTV.

Nagila’s diction made him the darling of many. He joined CCTV as a reporter and he’s currently covering the conflict in Eastern Congo.

6. Jane Kiyo

Jane Kiyo worked for Citizen TV as a reporter before moving to NTV in the same capacity. She also joined CCTV Africa as a reporter.

“I Was Taken Apart For Being Too Skinny, Too Dumb, Too Ugly And Too Basic To Be On TV.” Larry Madowo Talks Of the Agony He Endured On His Journey to Become the A-List TV Personality He Is Today

Larry Madowo is currently one of the biggest if not the biggest TV personality around, but his journey to the top has not been easy.

As he inches closer to 30, Larry has spoken of his journey and you can read about it below:

I got my first job on TV when I was just 20, a wide-eyed, skinny village boy with big city dreams who had just dropped out from Daystar because my accent had not caught up. On this my birthday it has hit me how little I have achieved in the years since: I remain unmarried and keep no small animals. Growing up in front of the camera contained all the excitement of a root canal without the motivation of a pretty dentist. I was taken apart for being too skinny, too dumb, too ugly, too basic to be worthy of the high office of reading aloud on television. But I rambled on, thanks to an abundance of wine and good humour.

Seeing as I am severely lacking in the skills or talents department, I stuck around and somehow managed to fail up to a moderately acceptable career in broadcast. Now with 30 dangerously close, the internet still disapproves of how I look, how I sound; even how I breathe. Mercifully, I’m old enough not to care. After all, we live in a world where anyone can grow up to become anything, including a failure. Those types usually lurk in online comment sections, compensating for their disillusionment with life by attacking others. Here’s to judgement by strangers, here’s to wanderlust, here’s to unmerited favour and blessings, here’s to living the dream. Next time, please send money instead but thanks for all the birthday wishes.

DATING TIPS: How To Approach Women On The Street

There are so many hot women roaming around the streets of Nairobi and other towns in Kenya. However, approaching them is not a cake in the mouth matter. As guys we’ve all found ourselves, at one point or another, wanting to approach a fine chick in tao but when the time came to make a move, we simply chickened out, stood back and rationalized that it was not the appropriate time.

Striding aggressively in heels and skirt, the sight of the urban careerist chick making her way to her paper pushing job intimidates most men. They stare but re-consider approaching because they have no idea how to go about it. They are also afraid of getting rejected. And I totally understand. Hey, if it’s hard enough approaching women in clubs — where the environment invites social communication — then imagine how much harder it is when it comes to the streets.

No need to worry. As always, Etemesi has tips to make it a little easier for you.

Be a smart dresser

The way you are dressed matters a lot otherwise she might think you are one of those people that sell fake phones or walk around borrowing money. I discovered that I get more street success when wearing official clothes rather than casual clothes. Well-ironed official attire gives woman the impression that you are doing well in life. By looking presentable, you have already done half the work.

All women want men that have a good thing going, not normal men who just want coitus without offering any financial security. So if you want to get girls while walking around town, make sure to always look sharp. Women decide whether they are interested or not even before you talk to them. If she sees that you look like a focused guy, she will entertain your vibe. Otherwise she’ll give you hell.

Approach a girl when she’s walking slowly

If a woman is rushing, you have zero chance of getting her number. You will just end up doing a walking race that’ll make you look like a fool. Close in when she is walking slowly in a somehow crowded area. The good thing about approaching in a crowded area is that you are somehow covered and no one will notice if you get rejected. Also, she won’t see you coming when there are a lot of people around

Just because you know that you’re a nice guy, doesn’t mean that she does. When you approach women, it is important for you to realize that most will be caught by surprise (if it’s in a place where approaches aren’t usually made) and their guard will go up. This is normal, and the important thing is for you to come across as a harmless guy. Take it slow and talk kindly. If you feel that things aren’t going so well, withdraw quickly

Look at her in the eyes

You are obviously a fisi but avoid looking like one. Some guys keep on sabotaging any good chances they have by keeping their eyes aimed down at a woman’s breasts or haga. Instead, keep your eyes locked onto hers all the time. You want her to think that you’re a brave and romantic guy who’s going to romantically sweep her off her feet rather than a thirsty man who is just having a crisis of the loins. The way she looks back at you will also help you determine whether to initiate a courtship salvo or nah. Don’t force it if she’s looking uncomfortable.

The rules of eye contact are simple

1. If she looks down, she’s instantly attracted but shy

2. If she looks at you only for a second then looks away and stare at anything else apart from you, she’s not interested

3. If she holds eye contact with you intensely, she is interested in whatever you have to say

Relax

Calm your nerves. No need to pant and have your heart racing like you are an athlete talking to a reporter. Some men tend to get nervous when talking to women and act like they’re about to delve into a marriage proposal that their lives depend on. By acting in such a way, they come across as desperate. Relax; it’s a simple approach, all you need to say is “sasa” and create a normal non-sexual conversation. Don’t try to use pick-up lines. Just talk the way you normally talk to other girls

“ Mwenye Wivu Ajinyonge.” Lisa Martinez Responds To the Haters on Social Media after Being Accused of Flaunting Sponsor Money

By now many of you are familiar with the name Lisa Martinez.

For those who are not, worry not I’ll bring you up to speed. Lisa Martinez is a young lady who has garnered the attention of many social media for brazenly showing off a ridiculous amount of money.

The debate on social media is whether the money is hers, her sponsor’s or she is just posing with some wash-wash money. No one is sure but what we can be sure is that her little stunts on social media have given her instant fame.

How A Certificate Of Good Conduct Cost This Judge The Chief Justice Position

Job applications have advanced over the years and it is no longer just academic qualifications required.

Ever since the issue of integrity became a requirement a certificate of good conduct has become one of the most sought after documents and now a Court Of Appeal Judge is ruing cursing his luck for the lack of one. Justice GBM Kariuki missed out on applying for the recently advertised job of the Chief Justice and all this for the lack of a Certificate of Good Conduct.

He had applied for one in good time and having met all the qualifications he expected to be issued with one in reasonable time. However, the police failed to issue and now the understandably dismayed judge is suing the DCI accusing them of having acted maliciously and unfairly halted his bid to be the next Chief Justice. Through his lawyer in a letter to the AG the judge said It is clear that the director of CID acted maliciously with the aim of sabotaging Justice Kariuki’s application for the position of Chief Justice,”

The lawyer said the DCI director had said there were some records which were required before issuing the certificate causing the delay which saw the judge miss out on the application. He was surprised given he had gone through two previous applications for a Certificate of Good Conduct successfully one during the Judges vetting and then during his application for his current position as a court of appeal judge.

The judge is also suing for injury he suffered according to his lawyer. Justice GBM Kariuki may not have been among the touted favorites but given his experience qualifications and how the whole shortlisting affair panned out, he will be feeling he had a fair shot at the presidency of the judiciary. Such is life

Attended a Jazz Event Last Tuesday and Trust me, It’s not What You’ve Always Pictured it. Thank you Atemi and Chris Bitok for Opening my Eyes( PHOTOS)

Opulence, exquisite fragrance, priced watches, designer shoes coupled up with buttery wine and tastes; your typical assumption of a jazz event, yes?

Now let me shock you, no. And there aren’t even as many Caucasian people as you think. I know because I attended a jazz night at Kiza lounge the other night. I bet you have heard about it, some swanky bar in Galana plaza within the confines of Milimani. If you do, then you probably know it hosts various themed nights that try and infuse the various facets of African music and cultures together.

So there you learn the first thing about jazz, it’s African. It has its roots from New Orleans some 100 years ago and it was a combination of African rhythm and “feel”. And then the second thing, people who listen to jazz don’t just sit there, sipping their drinks and being all snobbish. They actually dance and sing along to the different tunes showcasing their lyrical prowess in the process.

And when you attempt to be boring, then somebody has to pat in the back and cheer you on. And when you dish out a smile and do a little jig as well, don’t be surprised when you get a drink coming your way. I got like two extra beers when I sang a chorus to some RNB song Chris Bitok sampled.

He was the one in charge of all our musical needs at the time and the suaveness him and his band brought with their saxophones made sure everyone was on the floor dancing. It was so good that Atemi who had come to the lounge for a tipple got a tad too carried away and joined them on stage.

Now can you imagine Atemi on the vocals and Chris on the instruments, Ohhh my…it’s something out of this world, something spectacular. And considering Kiza lounge has the space to maneuver, I didn’t mind bringing out my animal instincts out.

I think I danced until 2 AM, maybe even 3, not my fault, Chris and Atemi just didn’t want to stop and the roaring of the crowd wasn’t helping with the situation. They really didn’t care it was on a Tuesday night. I think they even did a rendition of Ojuelegba.

So there is another thing to learn, a jazz crowd is not a timid crowd, it’s a delirious crowd that understands and appreciates good music.

I can’t wait to be there again next Tuesday. Check out the photos:

Ghafla Exclusive: TV Stations Turn Their Back On Frasha And Gabu’s Kes 1.2 Million X-Rated Song “Wabe”

It’s heartbreaking for Frasha and Gabu to invest million of shillings in their new song only for TV stations to blacklist it!

Frasha and Gabu’s 3 week old “Wabe” is surely a club banger, views on YouTube also assert the song is a dope hit.

The video was shot at X Millionaires nightclub on Baricho Road and it features some exotic dancers pulling up some really sexy dance moves.

Gabu and Frasha reportedly spent Kes 1.2 million to shoot the video whose quality is extra superb. But surprisingly “Wabe” isn’t being played on local TV stations.

Mseto East Africa’s Mzazi Willy Tuva told Ghafla! he couldn’t play “Wabe” on his show on Citizen TV because the show aired at a time when programmes with adult content could not broadcast.

Kenya Film Classification Board(KFCB) boss recently cracked the whip on errant TV station and journalists for airing adult content at a time when children are active on TV and radio.

The pragmatic KFCB boss is strict about having adult content airing on TV and radio only during watershed period.

Back to “Wabe”; Ghafla! contacted Gabu to seek his comment about his song being blacklisted on TV stations.

Gabu was surprised with the move by local TV stations saying “Wabe” was being played on Trace Urban. He also disclosed MTV would also start playing his song soon.

It should be noted that this is the second time Gabu and Frasha are having their song banned on TV. “You Guy” was banned way back in 2013.
