Lulu Hassan and her husband Rashid Abdalla are easily the best TV couple currently.

The fact that the two are among the best Swahili anchors in Kenya and working competing leading media stations makes it even more interesting. The couple has been blessed by two sons who are as charming as their parents.

Yesterday, while their dad was on air, the two kids at home with their mum thought he was talking to them. They ran to the screen thinking their dad was talking to them and remained glued to it.

Their parents were elated with Lulu wondering how she would tell them that he is at work and cannot hear them. On the other hand a proud Rashid Abdalla has said the two have taken after their mother. This is what he said

Amos and Josh are the musical duo that took the music industry by storm when they emerged 2nd during Tusker Project Fame Season 6. Over time they have continued to grow their brand and are highly ranked as the most vocally talented duo in the East African music scene right now, thanks to their dedication, humility and hard work.

Amos and Josh are working on a debut album titled “Contrast” that showcases the different phases of love. This will be the duo’s first album which features collaborations with talented musical icons from East Africa.

The series is a musical work of art by the duo –Amos, Josh- and Bruce Odhiambo. Created to invoke different emotions, “Contrast” documents the story of a young man in love with a girl, and how this infatuation with her sets off a chain of events, gradually revealing a greater web of lies, deceit and regret.

As of now, Amos and Josh have released the first two songs in the series. Moto Moto features a young mechanic (played by Amos), who falls in love with a young girl but he doesn’t declare his intentions right away.

Dansi Nami is a sequel to Moto Moto that features Amos bumping into his dream girl and confessing his desire for her. He tries to win her love by offering her gifts.

The third single, released yesteryear from the series is Kupe, and features Ben Pol from Tanzania, Apio & Mohammed Amin. The story here is about Amos shows off His love to East Africa but also ends up to incorporating vigorous dances from the three Countries.

This was initially meant to include all the other East African and the great lakes Countries since its evident that regardless of where we all come from, we dance to the same kind of beat.

Speaking about the Project, Amos stated that the project is so far their best.“We are really excited about Contrast. The bulk of the work is already done and we are releasing the singles in bits to create suspense before the big album launch soon,” he said.

The storm started on Monday after Victoria Kimani accused Huddah of ‘hanyaing mabuda’ in her new song ‘Gota’ featuring Airline. In the song, Victoria Kimani is quoted saying “Natoka Mbali, Victoria Kimani nani, Wanajua Mi Ni Nani..Sihanyi Mabuda, Mimi sio Huddah…”

This comment caused a flurry of comments on social media with many wondering out loud why Victoria Kimani decided to do Huddah like that.

Huddah on her part, probably exhausted from all her tiffs with Vera Sidika decided to take the high-road… sort of.

When eDaily contacted Huddah for a rejoinder, the petite socialite said she was busy…but not without adding a snide remark “Sorry, I don’t respond to irrelevant people. Call me when you want to talk about my cosmetics.” She said.

Victoria Kimani on the other hand seemed surprised at the fuss this song caused and seemed to wonder what the foofaraw was all about. So instead of turning this into an explosive beef, by responding with an equally caustic remark, she decided to be chill about it.

Willy Paul Msafi aka Willy Posse is back to controversy again and it is opinion splitting.

The award winning gospel artist tends to court controversy intentionally and unintentionally. This time round he decided to visit Lang’ata Women prison and he was like a soldier on a covert operation.

The mission was to salvage the reputation of the lady currently crowned as Miss Lang’ata women prison. Willy Paul made the revelation that Ruth Kamande who is in prison on murder charges was his friend way back. Her winning the crown sparked a public outrage considering the brutal manner she had killed her boyfriend and many saw it as glamorizing a killer and scorning the affected family.

Grammy award-winning American R&B/hip hop singer and songwriter Trey Songz is currently in Kenya to feature as a guest star on the upcoming fourth season of Coke Studio Africa themed Discover.

He was unveiled in front of hundreds of top media personalities from East Africa on Wednesday 21st September 2016 at a Coke Studio Africa Nairobi press conference, held at one of Coke Studio Africa Season 4 recording studios at Film Studios.

Trey Songz was joined by a cross section of the African artistes set to collaborate with him. They included our very own Nyashinski, Vanessa Mdee (Tanzania), Yemi Alade (Nigeria), Lij Michael (Ethiopia), Stonebwoy (Ghana), Neyma (Mozambique), Serge Beynaud (Ivory Coast), Rema Namakula (Uganda), Emtee (South Africa) and the South African celebrity producer Maphorisa of the Soweto Baby hit fame.

 Speaking exclusively on his Coke Studio Africa stint and his first time in Kenya at a press conference, Trey Songz said, “I am very happy to be in Kenya and to be working with a stage full of very talented artistes. The beauty and part I love about Coke Studio Africa is to work with artistes like myself who represent where they are from to the fullest. We have already started working on a great record and I am excited about the music that we have coming.”

While Maphorisa will be producing all the music collaborations between Trey Songz and all his collaborators, all the artistes on Coke Studio Africa will record, and perform alongside a highly talented house band on the show that launches across the continent – October 9th 2016. On the music collaborations and show’s production, Trey Songz noted: “The songs we will produce will give us an opportunity to embrace and uplift the sound of one another. Even with all our different sounds we will have one united sound.”

The queen of politics is back on her throne as the Kenyan political race intensifies ahead of the general elections next year.

Pendo is clearly charting her own path and ensuring this time she stays relevant much longer.

The socialite turned model, and now actress just added another feather to her cap. Yesterday she officially launched her new video at the Bleau Lounge. Nonini is a true Godfather in the industry as he is leading by example through an initiative he formed with friends to bring good to the community through Basketball.

 He has purposed to combine Entertainment and Sports to provide the very best of a great Saturday including dances, live performances, dunk-offs etc to fans with the Sportpesa Entertainment for Charity Basketball Tournament (Sportpesa EFC).

 The tournament is back this Saturday 24th September at Nyayo Stadium. 10 teams will battle it out for a win including EFC, Sadili, CBA, Sunrise, Riara University among others. The event is now held every last Saturday of the month attracting fans and their families for a day of sporting fun for a noble cause.

The proceeds have since gone to ABC children’s home in Huruma, Bondeni Children’s home in Kitengela, Filomena Children’s home in Umoja, Angel’s Centre in Limuru, Baby Blessing’s Children’s home in Kitengela, Maji Mazuri, needy University students’ in terms of fees, a survivor of the Mandera Bus attack, among others.

Most recently they visited Malia Children’s Home in Mua Hills, Machakos. The team was able to start a poultry project for the home by providing a 1056-egg incubator. This will enable them to sell eggs and chicks, as well as raise chicken for food purposes.

The programme also seeks to extend to other regions including Mombasa, Machakos, Kakamega etc. In terms of Charity they purpose to visit other homes across the country too.

So far key entertainment industry players have been supportive towards the cause with the likes of Big Ted, Big Kev, Kenzo, Nameless, Frasha, P-Unit, Big Pin participating in some tournaments since inception.

Sportpesa has provided resources to facilitate standard tournaments and a platform which has attracted over 20 basketball teams this year and a fan base of more than 500 to support the charity course. Furthermore, the programme is now able support and monitor long term sustainable projects like education, business and measurable developments in and for the society.

 According to Nonini the greatest success is seeing the initiative gain following from basketball fans, and regionally become a force to reckon with.

Unlike the Nollywood and even the regional Bongowood film industries,which churn out hundreds of low budget local films monthly,our own film industry seems to be on it’s deathbed with endless internal wrangling,lack of sponsorship,lack of audiences and purchasing power and also extreme expenses in production stifling the sector.

Back then,local films were doing exceptionally well,winning awards and even having hundreds of Kenyan film buffs troop to the local cinemas for a popcorn-driven flick or two.

Not anymore.

The desire for local films seems to have died along with the production of the said films. And even when we have some of them still coming out,they’re incomparable to the films of the then days,the likes of Project Daddy and even the Bob Nyanja-produced Malooned,Rugged Priest and The Captain of Nakara.

We may have some blockbusters still making waves to date (Nairobi Half Life, Veve, House of Lungula) but these won’t hold a candle to the cinema-hits of the early 2000s.

Case in point,Project Daddy,a film about a woman who is suddenly getting too old and too caught up on her career and how needs to have a child soon as she can before time runs out.

Released in 2004,the legendary film starred Nini Wacera,Jane Gachui, Wangechi Murage and Bruce Odhiambo,who,were it not for Bob Nyanja,who convinced him to take up the lead role,would never have made history in that groundbreaking film produced by Baraka Films,directed by Judy Kibinge and written by Njeri Karago.

“Bruce was never going to take up the role. He had too much on his plate already… He wasn’t very enthusiastic about it. But the producers wanted to cast him badly. Bob Nyanja saved the day… Bruce came on board and the rest of history,” says one of the film’s insiders.

Many movies were smash hits back then… Winning accolades and driving Kenyans in droves to cinema halls.

“There was a certain rawness,a certain truthability and a certain aspect of wonder and fascination in those early films… Kenyans were genuinely interested… It would strike a certain cord “, Bruce Odhiambo says as if missing the old days.

” Today,films are doing well across social media… But sadly,that’s not necessarily converting to numbers and even fatter pay cheques for our actors…

Bruce thinks that Kenyans should start physically walking into halls and cinema places and video outlets in the neighborhoods to watch a movie as opposed to just buzzing about it on Twitter.

“There’s a local cinema outlet in many of our neighborhoods… Where guys get to watch Premier League matches and DJ Afro movies for a small fee… Those would be ideal places to start. Show a local movie before a match or a Hollywood blockbuster first… Charge the guys a small fee.. Maybe 20 Bob… Just something… Crowds will come,films will be screened and money will find its way into the actor’s pockets… It’s not rocket science… ” he adds.

Piracy is also to blame for the poor performance of films locally.

Not to mention poor marketing skills and lack of proper,structured distribution channels as well,that spread from the studio to the last guy in the neighborhood.

Bob still thinks it can be done,

“Why not? We have the Internet and the Government goodwill and people still love local films. We just need to put our act together. Get a little professional and also,revive our love for locally-produced material “.

Wise words from a veteran.

Every visitor to Kenya has their way of doing the ‘local’.

Some like Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg eat at a local joint, others go to Kibera like Madonna, others like Eto’o adopt a wild animal or go to the beaches. Somehow they all tend to miss the real vibe of Nairobi city and its vibrancy.

That’s until Trey Songz jetted in and showed them the secret, get a matatu ride. Forget Uhuru Kenyatta’s stunt that was not the real experience. Trey Songz went for a matatu serving one of the farthest outskirts on Nairobi town in Rongai. He did pick a beast for the occasion selecting the premium 40 seater named Catalyst.

With over screens the latest Hi-Fi music systems a revolving projector screen on the floor and 350 colored bulbs, it was the right pick. Going by his expression he and his crew were excited and impressed by their experienced of one of the distinct features of Nairobi town, the pimped Matatu rides. Effortlessly beautiful and with a charming personality Avril has become one of Kenya’s sweethearts with hordes of admires.

But when she was whisked away by Leslie Mugadza, many hearts broke but hope was re-ignited again once Avril revealed that she was single.

“I was engaged but that ended. We were together for four year and when my dad died we grew apart. I felt some disconnect. In needed some time apart. Sort of a break. The break never ended I enjoyed it so much.” She said before revealing what kind of a relationship she is looking for.

“Right now I just want an exiting relationship. I want adventure. That what I need right now, nothing heavy and emotional.” she disclosed.

Diamond Platinumz has stoked the rumor furnaces with his recent post.

Diamond whose recent remake of Saida Karoli’s classic ‘Salome’ is the big hit decided to share a controversial post that has set tongues yapping. He shared a video of a hot vixen half naked in bed twerking and seductively shaking her sexy bum as she was being filmed on camera.

Even the caption of the post was a bit cryptic bordering on the scandalous. He used lines from the song saying “wenye wivu wajinyonge.” The beautiful lass has been identified as Tunda and is one of the video vixens in the song.

It may be a simple expression of gratitude to the lady for working with her but given that he is married and has never before shared such a video. Many are suggesting he may have tapped the lady’s cookie or plans too. It will be interesting to see Zari’s reaction to the whole affair.

Airing for 9 seasons, ‘How I Met Your Mother’ looked into the series of events that led to Ted Mosby meeting the mother of his children and the love of his life, Virginia Mosby.

And for these celebrities meeting their spouses was not as complicated as Ted meeting Virginia Mosby, but their stories are equally beautiful and very relatable. Here is how these celebrities met the mother/father of their children/future children.

1. Octopizzo and His Wife

In a beautiful message sent to his gorgeous wife on Instagram, Octopizzo revealed that he saw his fiancée on a billboard and knew that he had to make her his.

”I remember seeing her on that Billboard and I was like “Damn!! I gotta make her mine, and I dared myself to say Hi, how I planned it would be. It wasn’t even close. It was a thousand times better.” He disclosed.

2.Kathy Kiuna and Bishop Kiuna

When Bishop Allan was serving under Reverend Teresa Wairiumu, Kathy was a secretary in that church but he didn’t notice her at first as at that point he was chasing someone else.

But things changed as he was making a phone call at City Hall to his mum and Kathy passed by. Something in him clicked and right there, he knew that Kathy was going to be his wife.

He took a break from the phone call and asked Kathy to speak with him. But Kathy turned him down telling him that she was busy as she was in a rush to join the praise and worship team for lunch time service.

After this incident at City Hall, Allan dropped all his other romantic prospects and started pursuing Kathy; now they have 3 children and a grand kid.

This couple is proof that knowing someone for a long time doesn’t guarantee that you will stay together forever or that knowing someone for a short time means that you guys won’t last. You can live with someone for close to a decade and never really know the person and you can know someone for a few days and feel like you have known them forever.

Lulu Hassan and Rashid Abdalla met back in 2007 at Radio Salaam and married two weeks later and now they are still together 9 years later and blessed with two kids.

The Homeboyz presenter met the feted director at a nightclub which she had been dragged into by her friend. When she first saw him, her heart skipped a beat and she just spent the whole time staring at him.

In Eric’s own words, “We met during the Kenya at 50 celebrations in Kasarani. Her mother Nancy Grazioli came backstage and requested that I meet and take a selfie with her daughter who loved my show.

When she made this request, I thought her daughter was a kid. She said that Chantal, who had been living in Italy, used to watch me on You Tube. 6. Brenda Wairimu and Juliani

Contrary to popular belief, Brenda made the first move on Juliani, via Twitter.

Brenda says that Juliani was slated for a performance in USIU and she tweeted that was super-excited for Juliani’s performance and that she had plaited short braids so she could shake them like he did.

KTN News Anchor Najma Ismail has quit her career as a broadcast journalist.

Najma Ismail announced the decision to quit a stellar career today saying she needed  big break. She has been in the broadcast media industry for over a decade starting at Iqra FM.

In 2006 she got her big break joining Radio Africa as a news anchor and reporter for both Kiss 100 FM and Classic 105 FM. Seven years down the line and she joined TV as KTN came hiring and she has been a dedicated and exemplary worker ever since. Here is how she announced her decision.

“Alhamudulillah over Ten years in broadcast media. A well deserved break is needed from screen. Time to tackle new challenges. Tawakkal ala Allah bless this journey. Ameen”

Citizen TV sports journalist Waihiga Mwaura has found himself in quite unusual ground.

This is after the investigating committee on the Rio 2016 Olympics corruption scandal wrote to him asking him to appear before the committee. The award winning sports journalist was in Rio and was among the voices that shed light on the mismanagement of affairs in Rio.

He even did an expose’ and busted NOCK plan of listing him as among the people who had their tickets paid for by the commission when in fact, his travel costs were catered by his employer.

Part of the letter read;

 “In recognition of your official and professional role at the Rio Olympics, we kindly request you to appear before the committee to help shed light on various issues pertaining to Kenya’s participation at the Rio Games,” 

“We value your contribution to Kenyan sport and would like to have a brief session with you on Thursday, 22nd September 2016,”

it would be the first time for the anchor to appear in such a position though it is evident the committee values his contribution.

If you grew up in the 1990’s when KBC was the absolute TV station in the country, then you must have tuned in to ‘Tausi’.

From my very grainy recollection of the show, it had an orphan by the name Lindi whose mum scared sh*tless when she used to appear at the beginning of the show. Lindi often hanged out with Master Sugu, there was a lady named Siti played by the late Ashina Kibibi, the sassy Jessica Brown and of course Rukiya.

No one can forget her, not with the drama she had.

Uhuru Kenyatta has shown time and again that he sure loves his meat.

Every couple of months he will pop up somewhere feasting on his favorite dish and he hardly holds back the relish cameras clicking or not. The president loves his nyama that some of his quotable quotes have meat as their choice metaphor.

So his recent meat feast episode delivered on the attention and the figures sure point to a man who spares nothing at having his best meal. He bought 30 Kilograms of meat at a joint where a kilo goes for 500 shillings. This brings the total to 15,000 shillings.

He spent another 6,000 on drinks. The president and his party did not consume all the meat rather after a couple of bites, left much of it to the staff and customers present. Thus a simple lunch set back the president a cool 21K at the kibanda. Not that he would mind or even felt the pinch.

His visit at the joint saw an influx of customers prompting the owner to increase their usual order of meat to almost double the amount. The owner must sure be having a great time roasting his way to the bank.

Jamaican star Romain Virgo is currently in the motherland as part of his “Soul Provider Tour. He will be performing at the KICC this Saturday (24th September) after his Zimbabwe performance on 17th September.

 Eralier on, we received news that Vivian will be performing alongside this A-lister.

“Vivian would love to get on stage and perform with Romain Virgo while he is in Kenya,” Sam West, Vivian’s Manager and Hero Radio CEO confirmed to Ghafla. “We are already in discussions with Romain’s management to see if a collaboration is possible”

Well, it has been confirmed that she will be working with Romain.

Romain confirmed his collaboration with Vivian on K24 and Capital despite earlier media reports. As the two prepare to work together, Vivian took Romain to the National Park for game watching and she has been accompanying the Jamaican star to media interviews.

A man in coast had a hard time explaining himself as he was confronted by a woman in a matatu.

The man apparently had developed a huge hard on while standing behind the well endowed woman. His urge must have been too great or he just suffered from a case of premature ejaculation since in the process he bust his nut and stained the woman’s garment with his seed.

The woman upon realization would have none of it and she grabbed the man by his shirt as she caused quite a commotion in the matatu. As expected, she had a ready audience who were quick to apprehend the poor fellow.
