Tina Kaggia and her comedian husband JB Masanduku welcomed her third born ‘lion’ Kaya in the month of February.

The baby was put in the nursery as she was born underweight, but that is not all, Tinna Kaggia recently spoke of the danger they were both in when she came to welcoming her third born.

“7 months plus one day. My God is good. Nobody knows what it took for us to get here. We both nearly died getting you to this world. My last lion. My little fighter. LOVE can’t describe what I feel for you Kaya. My Kaya.” She wrote while sharing this photo of her young cub.

“… Service to others is the rent we pay for the room we’ve been given on this earth. Pay it diligently …”

Kenya’s top rapper and genge aficionado, Frasha, has just came from a successful children’s home visit in Nakuru, as part of his foundations activities.

The P Unit star is known for supporting children with disabilities by providing wheelchairs and a tuktuk to ease their transportation needs.

Now, still under his I Am Frasha Foundation, the music act is looking at supporting young minds by finding sustainable ways to build capacity for a Mathare based kids library.”We have a planned visit to Slin Kids Library in Mathare on September 30. Currently, we are looking at ways to build the library but before then we need books and toys for the children.”

Frasha, a graduate himself, appreciates the importance of education and more so a need to develop a strong reading culture among the young.

The library was founded by Victor Holvik, a 27 year old orphan, who grew up not having the luxury of books and a space to read.

“I started Slin Kids Library in Mathare slum almost two years ago. It started with one room and only 20 kids. Right now, I have two rooms and a traffic of more than 300 kids especially on weekends,” Victor said, “The biggest problem we face is a lack of books and space.”

Victor hopes to expand the library that currently houses at least 50 children at a go.

“When I started, I started with one room which I was paying Sh4,000 rent then I took another one. As we speak we are in talks with the immediate neighbour if she can find another place and give us the next room so we can have three rooms.”

To best serve the young minds, Victor came up with a strategy.

“I have to come up with a system where kids can borrow a book and go home with it thus creating a space for another kid to use the library unfortunately, they can’t borrow for more than a day because we have very few books. Not forgetting teachers also use the library space for research and setting exams.”

Victor says the library is a good initiative because, “Since it was opened there has been less cases of unfinished homework among pupils and slight improvement in academics.”

Nairobi Diaries is losing top of the line cast members who were making the show gain traction with viewers and increased the show’s ratings.

When Nairobi Diaries started, Vera Sidika was the reason why viewers remained glued to their screens catching up with the socialites’ show.

Unfortunately Vera left the show at the end of the first season but the aftershock of her departure was cushioned by the introduction of Prezzo.

Prezzo featured in the second and the third season, which is yet to conclude. His fiancé also joined him for the third season.

Maimuna Abdirahman Hussein and Ramla Abdirahman Hussein’s attempt at terrorism was botched after officers on duty at Mombasa Central Police Station shot them along with their female companion.

One of the three women attacked the petrol station with a petrol bomb before her companions started stabbing some of the police officers. But their petrol bomb and knives were no match for the police officers who annihilated them.

Following the incident, the three terrorist’s bodies were left lying in the ground for hours before they were transported to Coast General Hospital Mortuary.

Following the news that his daughters Maimuna and Ramla were killed in the attack, their father is now moving to court.

By filing an affidavit in a Mombasa court, Mr. Abdirahman Hussein is looking for permission to bury his daughters without a postmortem examination being conducted.

However, senior police officer at the station where the ladies attacked refused to sign the affidavit and  told Mr. Hussein to wait for official communication from the government pathologist and anti-terror police officers from Nairobi.’

Regina Mutoko passed on last year in September; she had an accident in the bathroom which was taught to be the cause of her death.

The hustle is real! Khaligraph doesn’t mind maiming his reputation for a mere Kes 19,200.

Khaligraph Jones was embroiled in heated exchange of words with an agent who claims the Kayole-bred rapper was blatantly conning him Kes 19,200.

Wyclef Mitch, a music connoisseur and a publicist, tells Ghafla! he contacted Khaligraph early this year for his vocals which his client wanted to use for his upcoming project.

Khali agreed to hand him his vocals for a charge of Kes 20,000. Mitch paid a down payment of Kes 19,200.

Mitch’s client however changed his mind to reject Khaligraph’s vocals. This was after Khaligraph had gone to studio and recorded the vocals.

Mitch in his wise wisdom decided to approach ‘Yego’ hit maker to demand his money back since his client no longer wanted Khali’s vocals.

An ugly fight erupted as Khaligraph and Mitch exchanged fire on Whatsapp; the latter vowed not to refund the money he was paid, going on to ask Mitch to pay him 10k which he claimed was the charge for the producer who recorded his vocals, and an extra 11k for wasting his time.

Mitch’s threats to slap Khaligraph with a lawsuit did nothing to inveigle him into agreeing to pay back the Kes 19,200.

The frustrated agent contacted Ghafla! for assistance knowing all too well he was losing the battle with Khaligraph. He showed us his Whatsapp conversation with Khaligraph to prove how rude the rapper was when he asked him to pay back his money.

We called Khali but he couldn’t talk much because he was driving. He was to get back to us but he hadn’t by the time this article was going up.

Diamond flew back to Dar es Salaam after the concert in Mombasa to spend quality time with his pregnant wife.

Well, Citizen TV’s Willis Raburu is also in line to join the club of property owners. The ‘Ten Over Ten’ host caused mouths to wag when people saw his huge house.

Willis shared a photo of his mansion on social media as he announced the house was nearing completion.

He however didn’t disclose where the house was located. But from the photo it looked like the mansion sat on a big parcel of land.

It is confirmed that the American R&B singer Trey Songz will be jetting into the country this year.

Trey Songz will be this year’s Coke Studio Africa international superstar and is set to feature in the fourth season of Coca-Cola’s flagship African music show, launching this October.

He is expected to jet into Nairobi this September. Ahead of his anticipated participation in the show and collaboration with select African Stars, Trey Songz states, “I have always been committed to spending time on the continent of Africa yearly. My fans show me so much love when I’m there. I can’t wait to visit Kenya and partner with the Coca Cola company on this initiative. I am fortunate to be working with some of Africa’s biggest stars. I look forward to learning from them, making a lot of new friends as I discover what they have to offer.”

Coke Studio Africa is a non-competitive music show that brings together diverse African music talent for world-class showcases, while giving upcoming artistes the opportunity to work with some of the best local and international music and production talent.

Last year on Coke Studio Africa season 3, NE-YO performed alongside Maurice Kirya (Uganda), Wangechi (Kenya), Dama Do Bling (Mozambique), Ice Prince (Nigeria) and Alikiba (Tanzania). 

On the new season themed Discover, guest star Trey Songz will record a song and live music performances with selected Coke Studio Africa season 4 artistes: Rema Namakula (Uganda), Yemi Alade (Nigeria), Vanessa Mdee (Tanzania), Neyma (Mozambique), Serge Beynaud (French West Africa), Lij Michael (Ethiopia), Stonebwoy (Ghana), Nyashinski (Kenya) and Emtee (South Africa).

The South African producer Maphorisa of the Soweto Baby hit fame will produce music collaborations between Trey Songz and the African stars. He says, “I have had the opportunity to work with many great artists from all over the world and am very excited to be collaborating with such a talented artist. I believe that we will be making something truly special together and am happy that we are able to share our amazing African sounds with the world in this way.”

 Madtraxx (Kenya), Bushingtone (Uganda), Masterkraft (Nigeria), Chopstix (Nigeria), France-based producer DSK (originally from Ivory Coast) and Maphorisa (South Africa) are among top African producers tasked to engineer music fusions from Coke Studio Africa 4 artistes this season. All the artistes will record, and perform alongside a highly talented house band.

East African musical giants and multiple award winning act; Sauti Sol (Kenya) release a new music video for their hit song KULIKO JANA, but with a catch.

In the newly released black and white video of Kuliko Jana, Sauti Sol reunite with the young, immensely talented Redfourth Chorus, Upperhill for some musical magic. As you all know, Baraza, Chimano and Savara were at Upper Hill High School where they performed in a choir much like Redfourth called Voices in the Light, so this can be seen as a tribute to Upperhill.

Bien of Sauti Sol explains the meaning behind the song, “It means the steadfast love of the lord never ceases, His mercies never come to an end – they are new every morning.”

Sauti Sol said in a statement: “KULIKO JANA is a very special song to us. It was inspired by our journey and the everlasting mercies, love and favour God has shown us through out despite our shortcomings.”

The song’s beautiful yet powerful message has stormed the charts and resonated with fans across Africa and beyond.

In fact, a viral clip of Sauti Sol in an a-cappella version of KULIKO JANA with the Redfourth Chorus caught the attention of international celebrities and media to the point where Amber Riley, star of the Emmy award-winning Show Glee, posted on Instagram, “I don’t understand what they’re saying but I know it’s beautiful. Sounds angelic- anyone know if there’s a full video?” Other celebrities who posted the viral video include Master P, Anthony Hamilton, JB Smoove and WorldstarHipHop, among other international news sites.

KULIKO JANA video has been produced by Fulfillment Limited, and shot in Kenya by the directors: Tim Mwaura and Joash Omondi. The song has been written and produced by Sauti Sol. The a-cappella version was co arranged by Philip Tuju and the Redfourth Chorus.

Charles Karumi caught our eyes as a fundi in the critically-acclaimed Historia Film’s ,film Fundimentals .

Charles plays a naïve fundi assistant who is introduced to making money through a sex-press service in Kinoo by Joseph (played by Gerald Langiri) in a bid to avoid going out of business . A movie that earned them accolades with Charles becoming the new hot kid in the acting block. Now this actoris among the semi-finalists in TLC’s NEXT Great Presenter Competition.

TLC in association with Colgate Optic White revealed Karumi as the third semi-finalist selected to go through to the “Lucky 13” stage from more than 1500 auditions received.

Karumi, who hails from Nairobi, Kenya, believes he has the potential to become TLC’s Next Great Presenter.

“I feel thrilled to have been selected. TLC is arguably the biggest and most successful lifestyle entertainment channel – it’s the big league, and when you get a chance to play in the big league, you take it and run!” says Charlie. “Out of the many people who sent their videos in from all over the continent, they picked little ol’ Charlie to be among the final 13. I always thought 13 was an unlucky number…guess I was wrong!”  He continued.

Now, all roads lead to Cape Town for Boot Camp, as Charlie along with 12 contestants from all over Africa aim to turn their 90-second video audition into their dream job. During the four-day Boot Camp,  they will be put through their presenting paces by the judges and industry experts as they undertake screen tests, performance coaching, fashion styling, brand and media training to see who really has what it takes to be a host on Africa’s #1 lifestyle and entertainment channel.

“When it comes to entertaining, for me it’s all systems go! I’ve been an actor for a couple of years so that’s helped me get accustomed to life in front of the camera; the lens and I are pretty much best friends now. I also host my own YouTube channel ‘Chromey’ which has taught me a lot about spontaneity and connecting with an audience,” explains Charlie.

At Boot Camp, it will be down to the star-studded line-up of experts which includes; radio and TV personality, Thando Thabethe; Head of Content at MultiChoice, Aletta Alberts; editor of ZAlebs.com, Zee Dladla; celebrity publicist and communications strategist, Jarred Doyle and VP of Channels for Discovery Networks CEEMEA, Lee Hobbsto choose the Top 3 finalists.

Then, in the end it will be up to the TLC audience to decide who should be crowned the winner and travel to London to film the brand new series, TLC’s MOST EXTREME coming to TLC Entertainment (DStv 135) in 2017. The winner will also feature in a special once off documentary and win a luxury holiday for two courtesy of Sun International.

Aside from being a world champion, David Lekuta Rudisha is also a cop. I’m sure he is used to riding shotgun in a police car, but he recently felt what the back of a police car feels like after e was arrested alongside Mo Farah for ‘speeding’.

On their Facebook post, Northumbria Police shared this hilarious post in regards to the arrest of ‘two speeding objects.’

We were called to central Newcastle today after reports of a speeding object on the Quayside.

Our officers attended and found two men claiming that they were Olympic gold medallists and had set off our speed cameras in a practice jog.

They kept telling us to Google Mo Farah and David Rudisha but we weren’t having any of it so decided they needed to pay a visit to custody.

Due to a lack of evidence we had to release them without charge after a brief chat in the back of our police car.

Turns out they were telling the truth after all! Good luck tomorrow Mo in the #GreatNorthRun and well done to David in the #CityGames2016!
