Habida Gets A Dose of Her Own Medicine After Referring To Nicki Minaj’s Song As ‘Rubbish’; Vows Never To Judge Again!

After hitting out at American rapper Nicki Minaj for what she potrays in her song “Freaks” alongside French Montana, super beautiful singer Habida seems to have taken a softer stance on the top American female rapper.

This comes after Habida was given a dose of her medicine by a female blogger who vilified her hit single “Girls Night Out”. The song’s critiquing made Habida promise never to judge again! A seemingly unamused Habida asserted that the female blogger was in fact not in a better position at all to criticize her single hit.

Posting on her newly created blog, Habida ate a humble pie as she vowed never to judge anyone and even changed her opinion about Nicki Minaj.

“So i criticized Nicki Minaj for showing her boobs in a video as she is a role model. Well, i got criticized for Girls Night Out by a blogger. Lol thing is i know her and goodness knows she does not have a lifestyle where she should be looking to criticize anyone else. Anyway long story short, It got me saying to myself i will not criticize again. I will let people do what they want and i will do me and only do the best i can. I remember being so angry and saying i know what kind of life she leads and God showed me that i had criticized someone i didn’t know, so the moral is……do you and leave the judging to the Lord almighty

And for the record Nicki is one of my modern day idols as she is one of the highest earners in the industry right up there with Jay -Z!”

Hmmm…karma?

Khaligraph Explains His Controversial New Song “F**K Off”

Khaligraph Jones is no stranger to controversy. Actually, he relishes and seems to thrive from it. And his new hip hop offering “F*ck Off” is an example of more than just his lyrical prowess. The lad goes in H.A.M after his haters and he targets the rappers from the Facebook page Room 16.

And why is the lad utterly vexed at the rappers that run that facebook page? Apart from them being internet rappers, they are also his erstwhile friends turned haters. He feels betrayed and like every good war story, this one is a case of brothers who were on their come up together only for one to finally break the mainstream frontier and begin getting traction then the other(s) turn Cain to Khaligraph’s Abel.

And the fact that these are internet rappers is a rather big chink in their armour given that they are dissing yet have no records worth talking about. Even hip hop legend Gwiji hit out at that fact. Get records before you start dissing people. Show some substance before talking greasy on the internet.

That being said, watch the video below:

Gospel Singer Hey-Z Makes A Comeback With A Hot New Single

After bringing you hits like “Avandu Vasunga”, “Bana Befwe”, “Born Again Soldier”, peace song “Amani” and most recently “Bodo Nasonga”, two time Groove Award winner and three time nominee as well as One Gospel awards nominee in South Africa Gospel singer Hey-Z is back with a brand new track.

This new jam is called “I Am Nothing” and is basically a prayer to God asking for help. Just like in his last song, “Bado Nasonga” Hey-Z features yet another budding Gospel artist, Fleksy.

Hey-z is also well known for his bold and hype talk in the Kenyan Gospel industry and proves this in this hip-hop Gospel track. You can download the song to your phone free of charge by clicking HERE.

Photo Of The Day: Gado Tells The State To First Sort Out I.D.Ps Before Sorting Out The Opulent 700 Million Shilling Retired President’s Office!

have you heard that the government intends to purchase an office for the retired president Mwai Kibaki at the obscene cost of 700 million Kenya shillings? What were your thoughts on the same? Personally, I was incredulous! How can we justify spending such money when teachers are about to go on strike?

Talk about flawed priorities! And it would seem I am not alone! Gado is also vexed. He is asking Kenyans to not forget the plight of the IDPs. The lot that the Jubilee government had promised to resettle once and for all when they got to power.
The lot that have to spend these cold wintry June nights out in the open or in tents. The lot that have had their hopes raised then dashed so many times they have lost count.

Now you’re up to speed. Keep it locked for more news…

VIDEO: Tarrus Riley Finally Apologizes And Explains His Side Of The Kenyan Concert Fiasco(PS: It’s Completely Different From What The Organisers Said)

So as you all know by now, there has been a sweeping drama surrounding the recent Tarrus Riley/ Alpha Blondy concert no-show.

First, Big Tunes Festival, the organisers of the gig, said that they would refund the revellers all their money. Then the message changed. Big Tunes said that they are going to be organising a make-up “free” concert for all those who paid last Saturday. Now Tarrus Riley, while currently in Germany, has come out with his side of the story, plus a deserved apology.

{youtube}LVq-N-3vvW4{/youtube}

TRANSCRIPTION:

“Yes Kenya, this is your singer Tarrus Riley, continuing our tour, seen? We travel over distant land and see to be there with you. We there from Thursday. We don’t see the promoter until it was time to leave, and the business them already shattered. Apology to everyone who probably got hurt in the riots, and you know we’d never disrespect you. I know we don’t want to disrespect you. Sorry to disappoint you. And hopefully, the president or the powers that be can line up something for us to come back and give you a FREE show. We’re all about Africa, we’re all about Kenya, one family, you naaw mean? We soon come forward again hopefully. See big up Alpha Blondy, big up the whole crew, seen? Shaka Zulu pickney here Tarrus Riley.”

The part in bold is completely different from what the Big Tunes Festival founder, Otieno Macko’ochieng said in an earlier press release. Compare and contrast:

“Regrettably as a result of the actions of a few individuals at the event and the fact that so far we have been unable to respond to some of the comments or accusations raised by some against us and our good reputation, the wall between fact and fiction has become quite blurred. For example, it is a fact the artist Tarrus Riley and band were paid by Big Tunes Live Limited a total of euros 14 thousand before the date of the event based on a contract that required the artist to receive 80% of the payment before departure and 20% before the show. As represented on our poster and marketing collateral the show was a Dusk to Dawn affair, beginning from 6pm till 6am and it is a also fact by the time a few misguided individuals decided to disrupt the show, we still had over three hours before conclusion of our event. The rest is history.”

While Tarrus blames the failure on negligence by the promoters, Big Tunes are pointing the finger at an impatient crowd who didn’t wait long enough for the main event. So who is fooling who? Leave your thoughts in the comment section below:

Rowdy Youth At The Botched Tarrus Riley Concert Immediately Before The Riot (Video)

Kenyans really were disappointed at the botched Tarrus concert and these youth were out to express it in earnest! They were angrily shouting down guards, police and the organizers! And who wouldn’t bne miffed? After forking out 3,000/- for a ticket only for the men you have come to see not to show up!

They are really vexed but maybe watching them yell and jeer security personnel will give you a clearer take on just how high emotions ran! Check it out below:

So There’s This Blog Loosely Asserting That Maina Kageni Is Gay…

A popular blog Uhondo254 has come out making bold accusations that Maina Kageni is gay! And might I add that the allegations are erroneous. Why do I say so? Well, let’s examine the evidence:

The blog relied heavily on information from Kenyan Post which was posted on April Fools. Case closed. Yeah, it was that simple. Next time please check the time stamp. And, for future posts, avoid attacking people based on sexuality. Kenya is still closed minded as far as sexuality is concerned and such a post could endanger the lives of the subjects.

With that said, if you didn’t know, now you know. Maina Kageni isn’t gay, just smart enough to keep the private aspects of his life private!

Long before K.I.C.C was turned into a scene straight out of a World Star HipHop video, people were having fun and feeling irie! They were jamming and dancing enjoying the niceness of reggae and I was one of those people.

This is how the scene looked before things went haywire with people throwing bottles of beer all willy nilly:

And Now Kriss Darlin’s Dohty Family Distances Itself From Saturday’s Flopped Concert

Reactions and counter-reactions continue to surround the failed Saturday Tarrus Riley and Alpha Blondy Live Concert as every party embroiled in the organization try to exonerate themselves from the mess that became the concert.

Earlier today, the main promoters of the event, Big Tunes Live, released an official communication to the public expalaining what transpired and offered their apologies. In the same breath, Kriss Darlin on behalf of his Dohty Family outfit distanced himself from the bungled concert saying they were not responsible for the logistics of the event.

Here’s the official statement from Dohty Family;

First I KRISS DARLIN on behalf of DOHTYFAMILY would like to apologise to all our fans and friends for the turnaround of events on Saturday 15th night at KICC….we DOHTYFAMILY were only contracted by the promoter of the TARRUS RILEY & ALPHA BLONDY Big Tunes Festival Kenya to supply DJ’s (DOHTYFAMILY djs) and an Emcee to host the event (KRISS DARLIN)…As such we were not responsible for the event logistics and the subsequent NO SHOW of the main artists. As we are looking forward to the OFFICIAL STATEMENT from BIG TUNES. We would like to state that also DOHTYFAMILY is DISAPPOINTED with the turn of events. It is not in our interest to be associated with PROMOTERS who do not have the interest of REGGAE MUSIC and its FANS at heart….we sincerely apologise to all who came out.

Regards
Kriss Darlin & Dohtyfamily.

Everyone Starts Distancing Themselves From The Botched Tarrus Riley Concert!

I say this tongue in cheek. Don’t get me wrong, if you paid to attend this concert, then I empathise with you. That being said, it is hilarious how everyone is running from this concert and the organizers as though they were lepers.

Dohty Family’s CEO, Kriss Darling has come out to distance himself from the entire fiasco and has issued this statement:

First I KRISS DARLIN on behalf of DOHTYFAMILY would like to apologize to all our fans and friends for the turnaround of events on Saturday 15th night at KICC.

We, DOHTYFAMILY, were only contracted by the promoter of the TARRUS RILEY & ALPHA BLONDY,  Big Tunes Festival Kenya,  to supply DJ’s (DOHTYFAMILY djs) and an Emcee to host the event (KRISS DARLIN).

As such we were not responsible for the event logistics and the subsequent NO SHOW of the main artists.

As we are looking forward to the OFFICIAL STATEMENT from BIG TUNES, we would like to state that the DOHTYFAMILY is DISAPPOINTED with the turn of events.

It is not in our interest to be associated with PROMOTERS who do not have the interest of REGGAE MUSIC and its FANS at heart….we sincerely apologize to all who came out.

Mbusii Gets Maina Kageni Talking Sheng!

Today in the morning, Maina and King’ang’i were  their usual jovial self but unknown to us, today they were going to unveil Mbusii to the audience. And boy was it hilarious!

Maina begun talking sheng! And not just ordinary run of the mill sheng either! He was talking the Mbusii version complete with “wale wa kuhollololiwa” and “Kung’uta”! I was laughing off my seat in the matatu! And Mwalimu King’ang’i wasn’t left out of the loop! He was busy bursting jokes with Mbusi leaving Maina floating!

They all welcomed Mbusi to the Radio Africa family and Maina told him that he is the most imaginative and creative lad he has ever met. Lofty compliment from the big boys on campus for the newest entrant to the family!

Find out why Mbusii left Ghetto Radio here.

BBA Update: Kenya’s Annabel The Head Of House!

Kenyans, East Africans and Africans in general, thank you for ensuring that Kenya is still being represented in BBA! Annabel is safe and she has an extra week to boot! Why? Well, she is the head of house.

That means that she has the power to save whomever she pleases (if they are up for elimination) and she can then replace said person with another housemate. And given the bile she has between herself and Bolt after he chose to pursue Betty this might turn out to be a rather emotional decision!

But all in all, atleast she’s safe and sound and Kenya are guaranteed a spot next week which will bring our girl 2 weeks closer to getting the top prize! Check out how Africa voted to save our girl here.

Have You Heard How M.O.G Sound Without Tony? Find Out Here!

Tony announced to Kenyans the world over that he was no longer a part of M.O.G and the group accepted this and wished him well. But a question was left lingering in the air… How will they sound now that Tony is gone? Whenever a member of a group leaves, mopre often than not the entire chemistry goes out of whack. Ask Boyz 2 Men.

But not in this case M.O.G or as they are now known as; Thee M.O.G are not suffering from the loss of a member. They sound just as good as they always have and this time they have teamed up with an industry new comer in the shape of Kamlesh to do this bold track in which they are asking people whether their Christianity is for PR or they truly are the salt of the world.

Listen to the track and tell us what you think. I personally think it couldn’t have been timed better and with Christina Shusho recentl;y tore into Kenya’s gospel industry.

Hot New Prezzo Song!

Ladies and gentlemen, courtesy of HomeBoys Radio, I have gotten my mitts on Prezzo’s brand new song titled “Celebration Of Life” which as the title suggests is a celebration life. The good and the bad times.

The track features Chess -former Tujuane co-host and she showcases her vocals incredibly. Prezzo is back on his rap tip and he actually does so in his trademark laidback manner spitting line after line as he recalls how hard life was and how he and his family had to struggle.

He remembers how hard they had it and how they hassled their way up from the bottom. He also talks about how he started out in the Kenyan rap scene and how happy his mum was for him when he first started getting recognition.

That being said, give the track a listen and let us know what you think about this jam.

Big Brother Update: Elikem & Fatima Share A Bath Tub (Photo)

The friendship of these two, Elikem and Fatima becomes more and more interesting every time with every little twist it takes. After them sharing beds, a couch and brushing teeth together, they are back at it sharing yet another facility in the house.

While the rest of the housemates in the ruby house were off to chill in the Jacuzzi, the former diamond housemates Elikem and Fatima headed to the tub to go get themselves a bath. The two lay in the bath tub facing each other with their legs entangled.

News: Bubble bath blabber

While in the bath, Elikem talked to Fatima about Pokello and asked her (Fatima) to give Pokello space whenever she acts ridiculously like she did today. In response, Fatima told him that she wants not to be caught in his drama because he is a mess himself.

The two were then joined by Feza another former diamond and the trio kicked off a gossip about the famous diamond couple of Bolt and Betty.

DISCLOSURE: Ghafla!Deals Sold 391,000KShs. Worth Of Tarrus Riley Tickets

Ghafla!Deals is our e-commerce platform, and despite only being live for only a month, it is already proving a hit with event goers and organisers around Nairobi.

Despite the ill-fated outcome of the Tarrus Riley event, we still managed to do our job and sell 177 tickets at prices varying between 2,000 shillings and 7,000 shillings.

The total amount sold was 391,000 KShs. This triumph has turned into a double-edged sword. According to Big Tunes, we were the highest selling advance ticket outlet, so they reached out to us to help them out with some cash before the event. I saw fit to give them the money they needed, so as to avert the cash problems that plague so many event organisers. We gave them a chunk of the money we had collected based on trust that they had done two major shows in the past successfully. This act of kindness however, has now hampered our ability to give refunds to our buyers.

We are still communicating with the organisers to settle the debacle behind the Tarrus Riley no-show. Yesterday they told us to announce that they would be refunding everyone their money, then today they came out and announced that they would be having a make-up concert with Alpha Blondy alone. It’s gotten really messy at this point.

We however are being very careful to take into consideration the needs of both the organisers and the buyers. We shall let you know when a settlement is reached.

“In The Forest” Host Gerald Langiri Flashes His Private Parts To “Lies That Bind” Actress!!!

Gerald! Gerald! Gerald! This guy is officially insane. Just last week, he was proclaiming his love for big boobs and had no apologies to make. A week later he’s in another sex-related drama.

One episode before the end of Season 1 of “In the Forest”, Gerald Langiri finds him self in a new part of the forest together with sexy cougar FLORENCE NDUTA (“Lies that Bind”). Even for Historia Films production team this is one of the craziest episodes in the history of the show and they don’t even know where to start and where to finish! Especially after last week’s episode where Gerald got attacked by Nairobi Half Life’s actor Mugambi Nthiga.

First of all Gerald in his usual inept fashion keeps the guest waiting then shows up in his dressing gown. Secondly he tries to correct an “injustice” that happened last year at Kalasha Awards by giving the Best TV Actress Award to Mkamzee Mwatela only to realize that his guest is the actual winner of the award Florence Nduta!

As the show progresses he asks Florence, a mother of two, how she got the part in “Lies that Bind” and if she actually lied with the producer to get the job. Gerald for the first time admits that he actually had to sleep with the producer of “In the forest” in order to become the presenter of the show!

There he goes! Gerald unleashes his ‘python’

If you think that this was the reason that made Florence speechless you are mistaken! Florence lost her voice when Gerald, in a very casual fashion flashed his infamous private parts asking her if she likes the size!

If you don’t believe check this crazy episode 12 here;

Main Event Promoters of The Tarrus Riley/Alpha Blondy Concert Perversely Attacked

After Saturday’s botched Tarrus Riley and Alpha Blondy Live Concert, Kenyans trolled the event orgainzers making a mockery of the whole situation. This morning however, the main event promoter, Big Tunes Live, issued an official communication on what really happened on the ill-fated Saturday night.

Despite the rejoinder from the events company, criticism continues to fly in. The latest to take a swipe at Big Tunes Live is Kenya’s number one rubble rouser, Cabu Gah. In a post published a few moments ago, Cabu Gah hit out at the head honcho at Big Tunes Live for the flopped concert and blamed them for poor management.

Here’s the post;

I heard that the BIG TUNES PROMOTERS who brought Taurus [Tarrus] Riley and Alpha Blondey [Blondy] in Kenya had messed with their fans. And artists too.

These are the same people, led by Promoter Otieno Mak’Ochieng, who again brought Taurus and Etana last Year. And had REFUSED to pay Etana until she went to twitter to publicize her troubles. And yet Etana and Taurus Riley had paid THEIR OWN FLIGHT AND ACCOMODATION expenses from Jamaica. Last Year,Etana WAS NOT GOING to perform due to failure of payment and she ONLY did it for the sake of her fans!

I am told that last saturday,Taurus [Tarrus] and Alpha Blondey NEVER SHOWED UP ON STAGE. And fans went crazy, breaking chairs, hurling bottles, vandalizing KICC property, crashing equipments and looting food and beer. It was pure hell.

Mr Otieno Mak’Ochieng’,

STOP EMBARASSING THE REGGAE MOVEMENT!

You promised the artistes money, promised your fans a mad show, promised Kenyans a crazy show…promised, promised, promised!

You even charged people Ksh.2,500 at the gate. And Ksh.5,000 for the VIP. And THOUSANDS paid.

And Yet You and Your unscrupulous team CHOSE to let THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE DOWN? You cheap scumbags! You filthy rats!

You are a stinking bunch of greedy serpents WHO only maximize on breaking Your promises, frustrating foreign artistes, acquiring illegal money and swindling hapless Kenyans!

Last Year You did it! This Year too!

SHAME ON YOU,BIG TUNES!

A BIG SHAME ON YOU!

You are a disgrace to the Reggae society,a pain in the ass,a bunch of hungry pythons and a commitee of money-laundering vampires!

You let thousands of fans down!

You let Taurus [Tarrus] and Alpha Blondy down!

You lied to us,screwed us up and STOLE FROM US!

Its a shame we still TRUST Your company. Its a bigger SHAME that Taurus [Tarrus] Riley had to TRUST such a bunch of unproffesionals again.

Thankfully,they’ve learnt their lessons.

And I hope You learn Yours too. In Jail.

If You CANT STAND THE HEAT,GET OUT OF THE KITCHEN!

We are tired of money-hungry kitchen rats pretending to be PROMOTERS!

You either KEEP your WORD or KEEP YOUR BULLSH*T!

You’ve been cheating and lying and scamming and defrauding people for far too long!

Cheap a** ‘promoters’………..

Rot in Hell!

Big Brother Update: How Africa Voted To Save Kenyan Contestant Annabel

Last night, Kenya’s only surviving contestant to Big Brother – The Chase, Annabel, eluded eviction thanks to votes from our worthy neighbours; Tanzania, Ethiopia and Uganda. This gives Annabel another lifeline in the Big Brother house and a chance to prove to Africa why she deserves the $300,000 prize.

Here’s how Africa voted last week;

Angola: Neyll
Botswana: Pokello
Ghana: Pokello
Kenya: Annabel
Ethiopia: Annabel
Malawi: Natasha
Namibia: Pokello
Nigeria: Pokello
South Africa: Pokello
Sierra Leone: Pokello
Tanzania: Annabel
Uganda: Annabel
Zambia: Natasha
Zimbabwe: Pokello
Rest of Africa: Pokello

vote

Total: Pokello = 8; Annabel = 4; Natasha =2, Neyll = 1, Biguesas = 0. (Total: 15 Votes)

Big Brother Update: Annabel Survives Eviction As Angola Bows Out of The Chase

Kenya’s only surviving representativeto Big Brother The Chase, Annabel survived last night’s eviction that was characterized by uncertainity. In fact, Annabel garnered second most votes after Zimbabwe’s Pokello (see how Africa voted HERE).

That aside, Angola became the second country after Uganda to have both its contestants evicted from The Chase. It was shocking to see both Angolan participants, Biguesas and Neyll get evicted during last night’s eviction show, leaving Angola with no contestant in The Chase.

Biguesas was one of the Diamond housemates that got the highest number of nominations during the Monday nominations, and unfortunately Africa did not manage to save from the chopping block.

big and neyll

Neyll (L), Biguesas (C) & Live Show presenter IK

As for Neyll he was just swapped and put up for possible eviction by Diamond Head of House when he saved Sierra Leone’s Bolt and replaced him with Neyll. The news of his exit was met with shock from the fellow Housemates and the tears flowed in both Houses indication that the quiet Angolan had a lasting impression on his fellow Housemates in both Houses.

Main Event Promoters of The Tarrus Riley/Alpha Blondy Concert Speak Out

On Saturday night, the most anticipated reggae concert this year turned chaotic after the artists, Tarrus Rilley and Alpha Blondy failed to turn up. The main event promoters of the show, Big Tunes Live, have however released an official communication of what happened that fateful night.

In Kenya we pride ourselves in delivering successful and safe live music events with a major focus on reggae music and artists. We also produced last year’s Big Tunes Festival of Music featuring Tarrus Riley, Etana including Jah Cure’s ‘Call on Me’ Tour. All our events have been successful and that has been our standard.

The incidents that occurred in the midst of at our festival last Saturday were unexpected and truly unrepresentative of the reggae audience we are associated with and by all descriptions very unfortunate.

We value our audience and our commitment in meeting the expectations of our audience, particularly the reggae fraternity in Kenya is solid and our actions thus far speak for themselves.

Big_Tunes_Live.png

Regrettably as a result of the actions of a few individuals at the event and the fact that so far we have been unable to respond to some of the comments or accusations raised by some against us and our good reputation, the wall between fact and fiction has become quite blurred. The rest is history.

The turnout for last Saturday’s event was massive, colorful and beyond our own expectations. We are very grateful for the show of support from the public and wish to apologise unreservedly to the public, fans of our events in Kenya including our good staff, associates and partners of our event for the incidents that occurred at our last event. We feel we have failed you and we bow our heads in regret as we were unable to meet your expectations on that day. To make up for our shortcoming we are happy to make the following announcement to the public at this time.

Lastly and this message is aimed directly to our fans in Kenya, our commitment to you is unwavering, solid and we will never quit on this journey.

The tickets for the concert are still valid and will be used HERE.

The 5th Edition Of The Mwafaka Awards Are Here

The 2013 Mwafaka awards are here.

The 5th edition of the prestigious gospel award show aims to award  Christian individuals that have excelled in their various talents & careers  and to to create mentors that the youth can look up to as role models. It comes hot on the heels of the much-publicised Groove Awards which even President Uhuru Kenyatta attended. Mwafaka awards organiser Arthur K. has been an open critic of the Groove Awards, stating on social media that they had devolved into more of a hype engine rather than the Christian celebration it is meant to be.

How will the Mwafaka awards be better and different? Well, they will be based on:

  • song video plays on local television and radio stations in the country
  • fan interactions on music including albums sales downloads and radio and TV airplay
  • tracked all year long by a panel of judges and data collections partners on tracking period of June 2012 to June 2013

This is unlike the Groove Awards, which is based on a popularity contest.

Below is the first promotional video for the Mwafaka awards:

Juliani, Salim Mohamed. Mudamba Mudamba And Sasha Kinney; The Brains Behind Mtaa Challenge

Mtaa Challenge is currently underway as teams from different hood in Nairobi battle it out for the ultimate prize. 100,000 Kshs. await the winning team together with the bragging rights as being the most happening hood in Nairobi. So who are the people behind this social conscious movement?

Firstly, there is Juliani, the award winning artist, and a prominent leader for the new Kenyan youth generation. Mtaa challenge is his initiative and aside from that he is the face of the campaign. He has remained connected to the streets more than any other artist and seamlessly fits social activism into his music. He has become a significant voice for this generation a fact he attests in his lyrics ‘huwezi command umati na influence’, walking his talk. He has participated in a number of initiatives informal and formal both locally and across Africa. He is definitely a catalyst for change.

Salim Mohamed is an expert in social development expert. He co-founded and served as the Executive Director of Carolina for Kibera. Most recently he led Ashoka, the global social entrepreneurship organization for East Africa. He was involved in the development of MYSA, the largest youth sports program in Africa, launching the community-based programs in Kenya, Ghana, Gambia and Nigeria. He has served on boards including the Diversity for Peace Advisory Board, alongside Nobel laureates.

Mudamba Mudamba specializes in youth development, facilitation, peace building and participatory theater. He has served as Head of Mbalamwezi Theatre and directed a Youth Survival Tactics show for The National Museums of Kenya. He is also a trained accountant and actor.

Sasha Kinney is a grassroots political organizer and consultant. Currently, she advises Pawa254 which is a collaborative space for creative artists and journalists on social movement training and collaborative development. In the US she has worked with groups such as Obama for America and the New Organizing Institute.

With such a group, it is no coincidence the Mtaa Challenge season one was a success and the current one is set to be bigger. This is the team that brings together other mentors and leaders who guide the participating youths.

Violent Riots At KICC As Tarrus Riley & Alpha Blondy Fail To Perform!(VIDEO+PHOTOS)

Yesterday was supposed to be the day of the big Tarrus Riley and Alpha Blondy concert.

Revellers had been told that the performances would begin at 11pm, and when that time came, they were patient. Come 12midnight, with no Tarrus, and people began to look around with lingering doubt. Come 1am, questions started being asked by visibly irked concert goers. Come 2am, and the chants began: “We want Tarrus! We want Tarrus!”

THEN

at 3am, the soda cans began to fly on stage. The Big Tunes promoters(who are the ones who organised the show), tried to tell the people to calm down to no avail. Here is a video of that part of the night:

{youtube}9sWgtEVBu2s{/youtube}

3.30 am, the people then switched to glass bottles which started raining down on the stage. The Ghetto Radio MCs wasted no time and were the first ones to leave the stage. Team Ghafla’s suspicions were aroused when they headed straight for the exits.

The Big Tunes promoters braved the glass bottles for a while until they started being aimed directly at them. Then they also fled and cut the music off! At this point, it was obvious that there would be no Tarrus Riley, or Alpha Blondy, and the rioting began. First victim, the DJ booth. The DJs were hounded out of their tent, and everything in the tent was destroyed. (By the way, the rioters were also targeting people with professional cameras, so I had to use my IDEOT phone to take snaps. Forgive the quality)

That’s the DJ tent going down

Then the rioters started shouting “POMBE, POMBE!” and headed straight for the food and liquor tents, where they looted crates upon crates of beer and spirits

IMG_20130616_030542.jpg

Next, the rioters went for the chairs, which they began to break as they lamented the expensive fees they paid for the tickets(they were going for up to 5,000 bob a piece)

IMG_20130616_030744.jpg

The craziest part of it all was that the guards and bouncers who were there were simply looking on as the rioters went nuts. My investigations revealed that they kind of understood the angst of the attendees, who had paid through the nose for a concert that they didn’t receive, and that’s why they chose to stand back. More updates to come

Pendo Responds To The Prostitution Allegations! She Vows To Seek Justice! She Is Going To Sue!

I called Pendo for her side of the story because I cannot believe that my friend is a call girl. Not that I have a problem with call girls. Actually, after this issue blows over, I will be seeking some of touchof-klas.com’s services.

But anyway, i called Pendo to get her side of the story and she was shocked. Not false shock, I’m talking about raw shock and humiliation. My heart melted. And I might add that I am not the sentimental type. I am Ghafla’s hatchet man. I was truly touched however in this one instance.

Pendo was angry and understandably so. She has said that these are the type of rumours that affect a family. Her family. As such, she will be seeking justice. Legal redress. She informed me that she is going to get intouch with a lawyer who will champion her cause.

She is going to sue. she told me that the lawyer she was directed to gave her positive feedback and as such she is certain she will be able to trace the proprietor of the site and bring him to justice. I wish her all the best!

Have You Voted To Save Annabel? Do So Now!

Kenyans, the clock is running out! If you want to keep Kenya’s flag fly8ing high at the BBA mansion then you must vote to save Annabel Mbaru.

In the run up to Big Brother Africa The Chase, Annabel Mbaru was considered the favourite. She was the person Kenyans had pegged their hopes on. She was the lass everyone was watching. Huddah’s exit while unfortunate was honestly expected. I however regret her exit because the excitement associated with BBA went down several notches.

But that being said and done, Annabel is the country’s last hope. and with that said, it is time for Kenyans to stand up and be counted. The same goes for our East African brothers and allies Uganda and Tanzania. You know what to do. Click on this link to save Kenya!

Socialite Pendo Listed As A Prostitute! Proof Given!

I couldn’t believe my eyes when I read the accusation that Pendo is a call girl. I still don’t. but I will let you be the judge. And after this, you will not hear from me. I am currently in hiding.

My names are Uncle Chim Tuna. while my mother doesn’t call me Uncle, you must. What I have in my dossier is explosive material. I hope not to catch a bullet. Enough melodrama, down to business.

Pendo has been accused of being a call girl who charges 11,500/- per hour. And you can only get her for 2 hours. And when that’s the case however, you are given a good discount -15,000kshs. And I was given proof of the same allegation. And I am about to give you a link to a escort service website that purpots to be able to pimp her services out for you. And as always, viewer discretion is advised and this site is not recommended for anyone under the age of 21!

I cannot speak more eloquently than the evidence ever could. Here the link is. You decide!

It seems that they have deleted the listing, so here is photo evidence of it to cover our a$$es:

 touch_of_klas.jpg

And here is the recording of the phone conversation we had with the owner of the website, who went on to assert that it was really Pendo he had listed on there:

After we contacted Pendo for her side of the story, she replied in a story you can read HERE.

Uncle Chim Tuna’s Challenge To Every Kenyan Music Video Director! None Of You Can Come Close To This!

J. Blessing is a friend. And a very talented video director to boot. By my very humble (thought I’d throw a joke in) estimates, he is Kenya’s best video director. And this is the ilk I am directing this challenge to.

Don Bosco Jr, Enos Olik you too are roped into this challenge. So are you Thome of Boomba Videos. Uncle Chim Tuna has a challenge for you. i came across an old Nigerian track I love and I rekindled the flame.

Anyway, Uncle Chim Tuna wants to know why a Nigerian video director could manage making such a video back in 2009 why hasn’t a Kenyan managed to do something better in 2013? Come on you guys! And this is the video I’m referring to:

{youtube}geqeCa6XZwc{/youtube}

Banky W’s Strong Ting

I have had a heated argument with Kenyans a.k.a Team Ghafla Allstars who say I am wrong. I told them Nigeria is still 20 years ahead of Kenya when it comes to entertainment. Chege Cege and Jeff Omondi said I was being biased. Then I put it forth to all of Kenya’s music video producers that you cannot do a video better than this. From the video quality to the theme to the wardrobe to the choreography.

Uncle Chim Tuna has spoken. Now, the next time I see J. Blessing, I will challenge him personally!

Huddah Confesses: She Lost Weight Due To Cocaine Addiction Not Because She’s HIV+

Socialite Huddah Monroe seems to be dogged by controversies in everything she lays her hands on. However, in a complete turn of events, the former Big Brother contestant is ready to come clean of her of past deeds.

Recently during an interview with Ghetto Radio, Huddah admitted to being addicted to cocaine in the past. This was after a rumor was started that she had lost so much weight because she was HIV positive.

Huddah admitted that her weight loss was caused by addiction to cocaine and other hard drugs. There was a time in her life when she was extremely stressed and drugs were a source of relief but now she’s clean and living a healthy life.

I guess that should now clear up the rumors about her health.

Here Are Some Amazing Stuff You Never Knew About Mimmo

Singer/songwriter/art director Mimmo is one of the fast-rising singers in this industry. A Kisima Award winner, Mimmo is an independent artiste working with renowned music producers like Musyoka (Decimal Records) R-Kay, Ulopa Ngoma, Ogopa Deejays and Homeboyz.

While you may know that about her, there’s pretty much you may not know about her. In doubt? Take a look;

  • ·         Mimmo’s late mom Wanjuhi Kamau (She died of cancer 2 years ago) used to play the harmonica and recorded a couple of songs back in the early 70’s.  She also used to be the voice behind those English programs aired by the Kenya Institute of Education (KIE) back in the day, to primary schools across the country.
  • ·         Mimmo’s estranged father Nderitu Munene used to play the guitar in a band led by renowned Kikuyu musician Kamaru.  He was also a songwriter for the band.
  • ·         Mimmo’s elder brother Munene who’s a sketch artist plays the guitar.

  • ·         Mimmo’s eldest sister Anne, a doctor currently based in the USA can belt out a remarkable alto, while her younger brother Alfie who teaches music at Braeburn plays the violin and the guitar.  He was also a member of the musical group Jipya that gave us songs like ‘Santa Lucia’ and also featured in Collo’s Msichana high class.  The group has since broken up, with Gaza who featured in Ukoo flani’s Mizani track, being the only member concentrating on churning out new music.
  • ·         Their last born brother Wangai a lawyer by profession plays the keyboard and sings bass in the Nairobi chapel worship team.
  • ·         Mimmo is related to Julie Wang’ombe, who wrote President Uhuru Kenyatta’s acceptance speech. Mimmo’s father and NMG Managing Director Linus Gitahi are first cousins.

  • ·         Mimmo was top 15 in the country, in the Coca cola Popstars that gave birth to the now broken up Sema group consisting of Sanaipei Tande, Pam and Kevin.  She auditioned at the Coast where she was living at the time, and was among 3 finalists chosen from the Coastal region. The other 12 were all from Nairobi.
  • ·         Mimmo is obsessed with even numbers i.e. She has to stir her coffee/tea for 22 times, not more not less and if she gets distracted, she will start all over again! Lol!  Her radio/tv volume also has to be on an even number!!
  • ·         Mimmo enjoys washing dishes, she calls it an art!!!

Open Letter: “Is Calif Records A Career Killer?”

We received this missive earlier today from Naomi Kirenge who has this to say about Calif Records;

In the year 2004 I was in the University of Nairobi and the same year I got to know about the music genre Genge, a baby brought to life by Calif Records. Back them Clemo’s recording label was a big hit and also the Kenyan music industry saw the introduction of new talents likes of Nonini, Jua Cali, Lady S, Pili Pili, Choku, Flexx, Jimwat, and Ratatat. Basically the whole industry was being run by Calif Records. Years passed and as that happened the downfall knocked at label. The untimely death of the talented Lady S was a big loss not only to Calif but to us all Genge fans. Then came the 1st exodus, Nonini walked out, Pili pili followed, Calif angels joined in the move that was not all Flexx walked out too and due to frustrations went abroad. Why did all this happen? All the artists said the main reason was because Clemo’s concentration was centered around the money maker Jua Cali and that he used to delay all the other projects done by other artists.

Later around 2006 we saw the entry of Mejja a new kid in the block who is now a big name in the industry, around the same season Calif gave us Size 8, Raudy, Laety, Kendi, Allaholla ,Kanobyz, Alac and QTac.
Few years down the line they all walked out giving the same reasons the 1st group gave which was that again Clemo was only interested with JuaCali and Mejja since they were the studio’s money bags. That was the 2nd Exodus.

The 3rd Exdodus saw the studio loose a few of its upcoming Talents who have been with them since 2006, among them Si-So and Dj soja. I managed to get an interview with some of the artists Si-So, Qtac and Kendi who told me that they have always been seen as underdogs and their events being forwarded to the other bigger artists. “You will go perform and get paid more than 50k but end up getting 8 or 10k, is that fair?” Qtac asks. They also pointed out that since their departure Calif has only 3 artists namely Jua Cali, Mejja and AlaC. supporting his point Qtac pointed out that his departure was the right move because from the look of things not much has changed. “Jua Cali has a video out with wyre and Mejja with Madtraxx, is Jimwat and AlaC stii in Calif?” he asks.

I personally decided to check on what was happening with Alac and Jimwat and a reliable source informed me that the two are rarely spotted at the studio. Jimwat turned to be a drunkard and Alac now has turned to blogging.

One thing i will credit Calif on is when it comes to identifying new talent but my worry is why kill the baby after its birth?. What really happens in Calif Records?

There you have it. Do you agree with Naomi on this issue?

Demarco Responds To KOT Hating on Him

The Kenyan social media especially Twitter has been abuzz with cases of cyber bullying most recently. The exacting Kenyans seem relentless in their ‘quest’ to bash anyone they don’t like. The latest victim of that is visiting Jamaican dancehall artist Demarco.

In the last few hours, KOT went H.A.M. on the “Kude Kude” hit maker making a mockery of his prolonged stay in the country. Exercising his right of reply, Demarco responded to the critics but instead of hitting out at them, he chose a rather toned-down response; after all they say that you shouldn’t respond to a mosquito bite with a hammer.

In a short tweet, Demarco said, “A few negative ppl [people] cannot let me stop loving Kenya!!! Straight. Nairobi mi SEH.”

Meanwhile, Demarco just completed doing a remix of Redsan’s “Badder Than Most” and according to him, it will be a hit. Let’s wait and see…
