More and more TV personalities want to prove their music prowess by plunging into music every dawn. We witnessed the likes on Nick Mutuma and Ian Mugoya get into music even though their reception was not so cordial.

Well, another TV personality has joined that league. NTV’s CrossOver 101 host, Faith Muturi who is also an emcee has released her debut video. Dubbed Karibia the new song calls on the masses to draw closer to God.

Muturi now joins the likes Kambua (Kubamba, Citizen TV) and Joyce Omondi (Rauka, Citizen TV) who are TV host and immediately former TV host respectively, as well as Gospel show hosts.

LOOK AT US NOW! It’s official. We are no longer being skipped when people think of coming to Africa. That is of course if you forget our own Obama giving us the side-step.

Busta-Bus himself is coming to Kenya. The eleven-time Grammy nominee is slated for a CRAZY end-summer (September) show. All I can say is I am EXCITED. 

It will be Trevor Taheim Smith Jr.’s first visit to Kenya, Being that E.L.E: The Final World Front is one of my favourite albums, and has always been on heavy rotation on my ipod, I must say I am definitely attending. And I know for even ya’ll who may only know him from his post-dreadlock/YMCMB cavorting days (Twerk It with Nicki Minaj, I Got What You Want with Mariah Carrey, Look at Me Now with Chris Brown, Touch It with the whole world) its still gonna be a great time.

I must say is my favorite Busta song is definitely “What’s It Gonna Be”. It has aged surprisingly well. You can f**k to it, you can drive playing it, you can dance to it…… “Gonna make, gonna make your body wet. (wet)” CLASSIC.

Gospel artiste Joji Baro has never had any qualms about expressing his sexual orientation.

This  is something I commend him for because I am sure it cannot be easy for someone to come out of the closet in a  society where most people are homophobes while others prefer to bury their head in the sand like the proverbial ostrich.

Joji was the first artiste to come out all GAP(gay and proud).He was also the first artiste to declare that he was HIV+ something that most people prefer to hush-hush about.These  declarations have sparked colossal controversy with even a fellow gospel artiste Kimdanny faulted him for using gospel music to gain fame.Joji  did not take this lying down and told off  Kimdanny referring to him as a fornicator!

Tanzanian’s mellow voiced singer Diamond Platnumz is in the country!

Diamond is not just a singer but has a few more feathers on his hat,he is also a choreographer,actor and the CEO of Wasafi Company.
Diamond took East Africa by storm with his ‘Mbagala’ hit’ and it  has been an upward climb ever since.Bongo flavor is a really popular music genre  in East Africa and Diamond has a large  following  in Kenya with some devotees even naming their matatus after him.

As I told you earlier, Nice Lucas Mkenda, popularly known as Mr Nice Thursday morning signed a contract with Candy n Candy Records. During the press conference this morning, Nation Media Group’s John Muchiri raised a very pertinent issue, echoing what had been alleged before.

Mr Nice in fact has a binding contract with Tanzanian managers, Sallam Ahmed Sharaff and Ramadhani Juma Fataki which is valid till 2017. However, when asked, Mr Nice strongly refuted this asserting that he had parted ways with the two.

According to Mr Nice, the contract was to be declared null and void after 6 months of non-production of any project.

But now it has just emerged that Mr Nice lied to the media and unfortunately his fans. In our possession is a copy of the contract that he entered with Sallam Ahmed Sharaff and Ramadhani Juma Fataki and it’s still legally binding to date. In fact, the contract clearly states that it is valid for 5 years (February 2, 2012 – February 1 2017) and that breach of the same attracts TSh50,000,000.

For the longest time now, leading Gospel deejay and the CEO of Genius Entertainment, DJ Sadic has been holding it down at his brainchild purely religious overnight event. However, starting this Sunday and every Sunday Sadic is overhauling the whole thing.

Sadic is overhauling Club 3:16 concept from a night gig to an every Sunday hang out event better known as jam sessions. The first of its kind will go down this Sunday at N-Tyce Restaurant on 2^nd Floor of Leon House between 2PM and 6PM.

The premiere event will be headlined by Ugandan-born artiste Ambassada. There will also be surprise performances by principal Gospel artistes and dance crews. More info on the poster below;

Kenya’s gorgeous songbird recently met up with Jamaica’s music royalty Alaine on her recent tour to the U.S.

Amani is one of the few Kenyan musicians who have propelled Kenyan music to International levels.She was even selected for the R.Kelly  headed One8 project  along with Fally Ipupa,Ali Kiba and 2 Face Idibia.

I hope this meeting was fruitful a collabo with Alaine would be groundbreaking!

After parting ways with Refigah and his outfit, Grandpa Records, earlier in June, Tanzanian urban music artist, Mr Nice, famous for his Takeu style dance move, has been handed another lifeline; as far as his music career is concerned. Few hours ago, Mr Nice entered into a pact with Candy n Candy Records where the two parties signed an agreement to work together for the next one year (July 23, 2013 to July 23, 2014).

Speaking during the event, Candy n Candy CEO, Joe Kariuki, said that the record house was looking forward to a cordial and lucrative working relationship with the singer.

“This is just the start of a long journey. I have known Mr Nice for quite some time now and we have built a very strong rapport. It’s my belief that we will be making this relationship even more compatible. In fact, I am one of his biggest fans and in this case, we will be doing our best to make our fans happy,” he said.

Mr Nice on his part hailed the record stable for its commitment in raising and nurturing talents, citing his entry into the label is a huge step in his music career.

“I know people have been treated to so many conflicting stories about me but that I have already put that past me. My focus is on my music and I feel very humbled to be at Candy n Candy and I am committing myself into working as hard as I can to always make my fans happy.”

Fielding questions from journalists, Mr Nice did not want to speak so much about his botched contract with Grandpa Records arguing that he wants to concentrate on his pact with Candy n Candy.

Huddah had nothing but love for the Calif Lady and as you know Huddah is not one to dish out compliments easily.She recently  gave Kenyan Artistes her two cents on their music,saying and i quote “Some musicians have no impact. Their music hits in the  studio they produce it in. We can’t relate, u need a career change.”

Baba Ghafla can’t get enough of the man! And I can understand why. And for you not in the know, Man Wazimu is the artist I am referring to! The man whom I was introduced to in my early days at Ghafla.

And he is back with more consciously aware music speaking about the ills in society as they say a real artist should. And this Kenyan artist paints using his words and the instrumentals are his canvas and what a masterpiece he intricately creates.

The song is about the social,political,judiciary ills the are part of the Kenyan society suggesting that the oppressed are victims despite their position in life.In the introduction there is description of who is who in Kenya so choose one.

DYesterday some rather unbelievably bizarre news rent the airwaves and had a nation and indeed a continent shocked and in awe! 4 men had allegedly raped a donkey and killed it in the process and all this happened right infront of a church!

I wonder why KOt haven’t been picking on other African countries must be due to the fact that with the besti@lity story, they would get their @sses handed back to them and yes, pun intended!

But anyway, today in the morning, Maina and King’angi have decided to delve deeper into the subject matter and what has transpired. Maina said what has been on my mind actually: when it was dogs it was alarming but still funny. Then a chicken and that was flat out hilarious! But now a donkey is dead and i for one am appalled! How could they do that to a harmless animal?

For the past two weeks, gossip blogs have been awash with rumours that Ogopa Deejays’ Kenzo is dating Gambian diplomat’s daughter. Well, let me burst their bubble; the assertions are not only misplaced but also fake.

Speaking exclusively to Ghafla!, the ‘Mama Milka’ hit-maker dispelled the tittle-tattles terming them malicious. Kenzo says that the chic in question, Zylah, was invited for a photo-shoot and they happened to pose together; and that’s when the blogs decided to run wild with speculations. If you’re keen enough, you will notice that the photo is from Jaguar’s “Kipepeo” shoot.

Kenzo reveals that the story has caused friction between Zylah and her parents, especially his dad who had threatened to press charges against the musician. He also tell me that he has a girlfriend whom she dearly loves and so would not want to go behind her back like a nun-chuck.
