Citizen TV Gospel Show Presenter Quits

Praise and Worship singer Joyce Omondi who also co-hosts Rauka Gospel show with Njugush on Citizen TV has left the early-morning Sunday gospel show. The New Artist of the Year at Groove Awards made the revelation last Sunday eliciting mixed reactions from her fans.

Joyce also divulged that she will be pursuing her Master’s Degree from Georgetown University in Washington DC, saying that it has been her all time dream to advance her studies and the opportunity presented itself.

She however promises to be back to the screen as soon as she is done with her studies. In her statement;

Brethren, I will be leaving ‪#‎Rauka very soon. I have been praying for God to enable me progress with my studies and I believe you have been too and I will be leaving to pursue my masters degree.

My presence however lives on and singing is not an option, as long as God gives me breath I shall praise him. For the constant and ever encouraging words and gestures, asante to you all. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Ghafla! wishes Joyce all the best as she heads back to class!

Jaguar Reaps Huge From Million-Shilling Athletics Kenya Deal

On Saturday, the national trials for the World Championships in Moscow got underway at the Nyayo National Stadium with the Athletics Kenya staging a spectacular event during this year’s edition.

Well, there was also entertainment prior to the trials which was headlined by Gospel artist Emmy Kosgei and “Kigeugeu” hit-maker Jaguar. With Safaricom sponsoring the event to the tune of KSh2M, it’s alleged that Jaguar received a cool KSh500,000 for his performance. Earlier this month, Jaguar put pen to paper a multi-million deal that will see him reap huge.

And here he is performing at the National Athletics Trials at Nyayo Stadium;

It will be remembered that we recently told you that Jaguar is the wealthiest artist in Kenya and it seems most corporates looking to invite him to their events must now offer fat cheques.

With a car collection worth KSh20M, Jaguar continues to expand his wealth thanks to his music fame and vast business ventures.

Finally, Gay Cross Dresser Joji Baro Introduces His Gay Lover!

I have to say that Joji Baro is one of the bravest lads I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. Not only did he open up about his sexual orientation he also opened up about his positive HIV status.

And that is more than what most Kenyan celebrities have the spine for. But back to the matter at hand: I came across photos of him and an admirer having fun times. And no, do not worry, no le s3xxy-time was involved so it is safe for everyone to view, even those with the most sqeaumish of stomachs!

Check out the pictures below;

Girls in Costa Rica Dancing to Kenyan Music!

They say music like water, flows; it has no boundaries, no limits, once you have a beat the floor is yours. And even if the language is different, the one thing we all relate and connect with is the language of music. Well, Kenyan music is making in roads around the globe.

Over the weekend, dancehall sensation Marc Brunnel brought me to speed with one of the greatest news I’ve heard since Alaine and Wyre happened. Well, thing is, his jam, “Gie Dem” is a huge hit in Costa Rica. Recently, during a gig in the capital of the Latin American country, three dancers took to the stage and gyrated to “Gie Dem” much to the delight of the revellers.

Take a look;

And HERE is the original video.

Marc Brunnel (born August 29,1990 in Nairobi) is a Kenyan Dj , singer – song writer and a businessman. He is commonly known by his fans as Marc Brunnel Music di trendsetta. He has so far voiced numerous riddims from all over the world.

This What Happens When TV Host Gerald is Not Sexually Teasing His Guests

The first season of ‘In The Forest’ is over and even the guys at Historia Films are having withdrawal symptoms. However, have you ever wondered what goes on behind the scenes after the host, Gerald Langiri, is done ‘tormenting’ (yes, tormenting because what he does are not interviews) his guests with his sexual connotations?

Well, this is a warning because this is just for the hard core fans in order to feed the addiction; this extra two and a half minutes of “In the forest” behind the scenes.

What happens when the interviews are over and the cat (Gerald Langiri) is away? Then the mice (Nice Githinji, Nicholas Gerald and Alex Konstantaras) will play! Highlight is the (once more) topless appearance of Gerald in the end!

Huddah Monroe Tells Off “Buzz” Writer For Roasting Kenyan ‘Socialites’

Last Sunday, “Buzz” writer Josephine Mosongo in her article, ‘The Complete Guide to Being a Socialite’, hit out at some of the well-known socialites in Nairobi among them ‘Thee Boss Lady’ Huddah Monroe. This obviously did not go down well with her and in her usual way, took to Twitter to vent.

In a series of tweets, Huddah posted not-so-polite comments about Mosongo for going in on her and fellow socialites. “So some journalists actually get paid to hate?? Like that bitch on Nation newspaper…if it makes u sleep well at night well B***H do it!” tweeted Huddah adding, “People so sad with their own existence the have to hate to be recognized. I don’t blame you,I blame ur (your) ratchetness Josephine Mosongo.”

Huddah tweet

Huddah tweet1

This is what Mosongo said about Huddah;

Love her, hate her, or love to hate her, Huddah Monroe is one of the most talked about socialites we have right now in Nairobi. It’s still a mystery what exactly got her into the Big Brother House, seeing as she was incapable of holding her own when it came to relating with fellow housemates. Which makes one wonder, wouldn’t it have been the easiest of tasks to just sit there and, you know, socialise? She is a socialite after all, and that is her “job” description.

About Pendo and Vera;

But what makes a socialite here in Kenya? Are the likes of Huddah Monroe, Vera Sidika and Stacy Pendo worthy of the title? Do the numerous nude photos posted on social media like Twitter and Facebook make them socialites? Do they have the “star” status and staying power to retain this title that isn’t so enviable anymore in Nairobi’s social scene? Hypothetically speaking, if we were to have a mental checklist to see who would make the cut as a socialite, would any of our Kenyan socialites proudly wear the title or would they hide their faces in shame?

Vera Sidika, the well-endowed bootylicious socialite might have something to brag about if talk of the launch of her clothing line is anything to go by. Aside from her derrière which got people talking for weeks on end, her modelling career as a plus size model and video vixen also brought her instant fame. From her status updates on Facebook, it is safe to assume that Vera seems like a smart girl, and hopefully her smarts will help her up the rungs of her career ladder.

Before the infamous sex scandal with Willy Paul, no one knew who Stacy Pendo was. But after her nude photos did rounds on social media, her social status took to the skies and ‘soared’. Pendo is an upcoming musician but we are yet to hear even one of her songs. From claims of being a gold digger to dating a tycoon and a politician’s son at the same time, Pendo’s controversial life choices are definitely at par with her socialite status.

I wonder what Vera and Pendo have to say about this.

Video: Prezzo Meets Jay Z

Late last year, his rapcellency Prezzo, while on trip to ONE’s Washington DC office (remember he’s a ONE ambassador), met with American rapper, record producer, entrepreneur, and investor, Jay Z (see that HERE). Well, the clip of the two meeting has just emerged.

In the clip, the self-proclaimed ‘King of Bling’ is seen engaging the Jigga man in some small talk though their discussion is inaudible. After the short but interractive conversation, the two rappers give each other some real bro hug. Take a look;

Big Brother Update: Pokello Barely Survives Eviction! Here’s An Interesting Analysis Of Why

Pokello has been surviving eviction by popular vote but this past week, all that changed when she had to have the “tie-breaker” rule save her. And the countries that traditionally vote for her abandoned her with Nigerians pragmatically opting to vote for their own -Melvin.

And what does that mean? It could spell the beginning of the end for the controversial Pokello who is just as popular at home as she is infamous what with her sex tape leaking and Zimbabweans wanting to get her off the show!

Or maybe this was simply a case of bad timing as she was put up for eviction against the darling ofWest Africa -Melvin. Her erstwhile staunchest supporters Nigeria and Nigeria, Namibia and Angola voted for Melvin. what do you think this means? Could this be a turn in tidings for the lass or is this all just part of the game?

UoN Students Disrupt Str8-Up Live Recording Demanding For Bribes!

A recent discovery shows that there are cartels of deceitful university students who are operating within various campuses in the country, soliciting for payments from individuals and groups planning to hold events at university grounds.

One such group is in University of Nairobi where the KTN’s Str8-Up crew were harassed and barred from broadcasting live even in the presence of the university’s security personnel. KTN crew had booked and paid to broadcast live in the university’s graduation grounds but on the day of the recording, the rogue students disrupted the recording demanding for Kshs. 100,000.

The UON students were caught on tape harassing and mishandling a female guest for recording the morning events on her mobile phone. The students had taken offence that the guest had done so without their permission. They first tried to drag her off the field with them but she resisted, they then resulted to holding her in place as they deleted data from her phone. The rogue students at UON disrupt Str8-Up recording demanding KSh. 100,000 as ground fees so that they could allow them to broadcast live.

The group revealed that they have been doing this for a while now but unknown to them, the camera was rolling and recorded all the conversation they had with the KTN team. This begs the question whether the university administration is aware of such corrupt deals made by the said group of students. Check out;

BBA Update: Save Annabel From Possible Eviction By Voting For Her And Win!!!

Kenya’s only surviving representative to Big Brother Africa is up for possible Eviction This Weekend, Annabel was nomnated last week,this came after the sassy Kenyan received four nominations, the second highest after Cleo, from fellow Diamond housemates.

Spaeking to Biggie during their Diary Sessions, Feza said that Annabel was the weakest link and wasn’t very loyal and Bassey hated that she never cleaned up after herself when she was done cooking. Anyhow, that’s not a problem because we can still keep her in the game by voting for her.

It has even become better now because as you vote for Annabel your name is entered into a weekly draw where you stand a chance to walk away with tons of great prizes. To vote for her, click HERE

    Supermodel Tyra Banks coming to Nairobi?

    Tyra Banks reality show America’s Next Top Model has arrived in Africa! And we all want to know, will she be here with the crew?

    America’s Next Top Model began 20 or so cycles ago, and Kenyans have watched many a season loving the drama with each. So when we heard they were coming to Nairobi, we wanted to know, is super sexy Tyra (that’s “Miss Banks” to you) coming?

    Unfortunately, the green-eyed bombshell will not be here. However, our consolation we are still excited because the African edition is being hosted by the uber-hot and mega successful Oluchi Onweagba!(the Face of Africa)

    So Nairobi models, get ready to show OUT for the ANTM Africa team! They will be looking for the most beautiful girl with undeniable talent, originality, creativity, passion and humour. Don’t forget this is a reality show, so bring all your extra-ness, ratchet-ness, fabulous-ness, wacky-ness or whatever else you got to give you an edge over the competition!

    Nairobi auditions are being held at the Kenyatta International Conference Centre (KICC) on Sunday, 14th July 2013 from 7am – 7pm.

    If you are planning to audition then you need to know the following:

    Application form: You must have a completed form with 3 pictures of you (specs on the photos given below).

    Download the application forms for free

    Photos: 1 headshot and 2 full body shots. The photos do not need to be professional but they should be good quality and recent. The headshot should be a clear close up of your head and face. The body shots should have you clearly visible (from head to feet). One of you fully clothed and another in a swimsuit.

    Passport: A valid passport. If you do not have one, proof of a temporary passport will do.

    Age Limit: You must be between the ages of 18-27

    Height Requirement: The minimum is 5’7″ to participate on the show.

    The auditions are free to attend. Once again there is NO CHARGE to participate in this competition.

    So, if you think it could be you, head on down to KICC this Sunday. And to all aspiring ladies, Kenyan models are out there killing the game, so make sure you step it all the way up. Get your hair right, clothes right, shoes right, nails did, walk tight, be eloquent and most of all BE YOURSELF.

    And for the rest of us who just really wanted to see Tyra, guess we’ll just have to wait for her flyness to make an appearance on the show. Speaking of appearances on the show…. I wonder who the judges for this African edition will be? (Ann McCreath? Ann McCreath? Calling Ann McCreath?)

    Camp Mulla’s Shappaman Involved In Yet Another Fight at Blankets And Wine Over Bhangi, Gets Arrested!

    According to the Pulse, Shappaman was recently involved in yet another fight. Wait, “recent” means this Sunday at Blankets and Wine which went down this past Sunday at Carnivore. Anyway, yeah, Shappaman allegedly beat up one of the revellers who was there.

    As the story goes, the reveller was nearby when he smelt the scent of bhangi when he (William Oyando) went over to him to ask if he could partake of the herb only for him to ask whether it was bhangi that he smelt and get blows rain on him!

    According to the Pulse, the lad then went to the bouncers and reported the incident and they in turn went and alerted the police who arrested Shappaman and he and his label mate had to record statements at the Langata Police Station.

    Na wa for e boy! Do you remember this incident?

    Octopizzo Reveals What He Hates Most in Women

    When Octopizzo speaks everyone listens; after disparaging rumours of Illuminati and beseeching young Kenyans to “grow up and start working hard!”, the Kibera hip-hop head is back. This time he’s speaking out about his tastes and preferences.

    Recently, the “Ivo Ivo Ivo” singer spoke to Faith Chebet of Spice Magazine about his life behind-the-scenes. Here’s an excerpt of that interview;

    Myself in one word…

    ‘Kibera’.

    Women to me are…

    The best thing God ever created to put men on track, my mum being number one.

    Love to me is…

    The feeling you can’t define. It’s just the best feeling in the world.

    Sex to me is…

    I don’t know how to define it but it is when ‘two bodies that are in love make love’.

    My celebrity crush is…

    Alicia Keys.

    Music to me is…

    Everything. It is educative, love, culture, and much more. You listen to music when you are mad, when you are happy, when you get married, when you divorce, when a baby is born, when somebody dies… it is simply everything.

    My first time on stage…

    Was really weird. I wasn’t shy, but I was not brave either, though I remember never wanting to leave the stage even after finishing my performance. I just wanted to stay on.

    Octo.jpgOne of the local artistes I rate highly…

    Is Sage. She is one of the best singers Kenya will ever have.

    If there was someone to be brought back to life, it should be…

    My Mum. I love and miss her a lot.

    Most treasured moment…

    When my daughter was born. She changed me and made me who I am today, and I thank God.

    Three things that have kept me on track to date…

    Family; they are always there when everyone else in not there. Community; they keep you going. Business; it motivates me to keep on pushing and trying harder to reach that point where I want to be.

    One thing that pisses me off in women…

    I actually have two things that piss me off. Wigs and extreme make-up.

    My phobia is…

    Death only.

    For The First Time Media Houses Broadcast Their Shows Live From State House (Photos)

    For the longest time in the history of Kenya, the State House has been a no-go-zone to the media leave alone the ordinary mwananchi. However, when the Jubilee Coalition took over the realms of power, the ‘House on The Hill’ has literally become a public asset. In President Uhuru Kenyatta shocked many when he hosted little-known Daniel Owira aka Otonglo Boy at the State House and even took him on a tour around the official residence of the President of Kenya.

    The President has also become a darling of the media and at one time even invited members of the press for a cup of tea at the State House. Well, the Jubilee Government is marking 100 days in power today and President Uhuru is due to meet editors from Kenya’s media houses at State House Friday morning, just so you know Ghafla! has been invited for the event and will be represented fully by ‘Baba Ghafla!’ Majani and the mischevious Uncle Chim Tuna.

    Moving on swiftly, the President Friday morning allowed a couple of media houses to host their breakfast shows at State House grounds. Among them were Capital FM and NTV which both had their respective presenters broadcast live to their audiences from State House.

    Sauti Sol Beats Just-A-Band At Eating The Largest Burger in Nairobi (Video)

    The latest Burger King challenge pitted boy bands, Sauti Sol and Just-A-Band. The challenge? A Nairobi’s largest burger, a mammoth of a food monster, stared at me blankly: a foot-tall premium beef burger with 1.5 kg of beef patties, all of Brew Bistro’s 40 toppings oozed out of every nook and cranny, a cone of what seemed like at the time “never-ending” pit of hand-cut thick fries, and a foaming 2L pitcher of beer. In total, weighing 11 kg.

    Capital Lifestyle reports that Delvin and Bienaime of Sauti Sol, and Mbithi and Blinky Bill of Just A Band tackled the foot-tall burger of 1.5 kg of pure beef, 40 toppings, 2 gigantic burger buns, french fries, onion rings and a 2 L pitcher of beer – ALL in 30 minutes.

    In the end, Sauti Sol reigned supreme and claimed the title of Kenya’s Burger Kings, narrowly beating Just-A-Band by only 0.01 kg. Here’s the video of that courtesy of Capital TV;

    And Now Prezzo Disses Tanzanian Superstar Diamond Platnumz

    Unfortunately his rapcellency Prezzo has a knack of leaping from controversy to controversy. He and Jaguar are known for having a bad blood and it seems the bad boy is not about to turn over a new leaf. The latest is that the “Liqher” rapper has hit out at Tanzanian superstar, Diamond Platnumz.

    Last night, Prezzo trolled Diamond saying the only diamonds he knows are those on his neck. This is after a Tanzanian newspaper published a photo of Prezzo and Diamond in which Diamond is speaking about the entertainment scene. It’s still unclear why “El Presidente” hit out at ‘Ukimwona’ hit maker. “Unfortunately only “diamonds” I know is the ones on ma neck fam” tweeted Prezzo.

    Prezzo then asserted that whatever Diamond was baloney. “U talkin money or u talkin nonsense au anashindana na ndovu kunya?”

    Meet Freedom Fighter’s Daughter Who Quit Working For The President To Hawk Condoms

    Last night, Citizen TV aired a story that elicited mixed reactions on social media.

    Meet 43 year old Ruth Nthenya Ngei, daughter of the late freedom fighter Paul Joseph Ngei, who quit her job in the Office of the President with one mission, risking it all, if only to ensure that people visiting various entertainment joints in Kenya’s capital Nairobi engage in safe sex.

    As night falls in the city of Nairobi, the name Ruth a mother of 4 changes to Mama Flava,She prepares food for her last born before leaving her in the custody of the housemaid.Work begins at 8:30pm,where she sets the target for the night (no. of condoms to sell). She then commutes to Nairobi CBD straight from her home in Ngong, Kajiado County.

    In what she calls survival for the fittest, her night job begins. Selling Condoms on the streets,in the clubs to the politicians,university students and even Commercial Sex Workers.Flavoured condoms sell fast and that why she’s referred to as Mama Flava.

    “The whole idea is to see how many people you can change” says Ruth Ngei to Citizen TV’s Judy Kosgei.

    Exclusive: Video Director J Blessing & ‘Toklezea’ Hit Maker Chantelle Get Married In Secret!

    Ahoy! Ahoy! There’s a new celeb couple in town! In February, entertainment blogs and magazines were abuzz with news that the exceptional music video producer is dating the former secular ‘Tokeleza’ singer Chantelle; something that J Blessing confirmed when he spoke to HBR.

    Today however can Ghafla! can exclusively confirm that Jibril Blessing and Chantelle Siameto are husband and wife. According to an artist under J Blessing’s stable (LinkVideo Global) who asked to remain anonymous, the two love-birds tied the knot Thursday morning at Attorney General’s chambers. The low-key event was attended by only the closest family members.

    This will be followed by an official grand wedding at a later date, yet to be announced. J Blessing and Chantelle have been dating for over 9 months now and this vow cements the sacrament of looking after each other’s health in times of sickness and otherwise.
