Eleven months ago, Islamist group al-Shabaab attacked the upmarket Westgate shopping mall in Nairobi resulting to 67 deaths and over 175 injuries; several stories about the incident have been told by different entities but world’s renowned HBO Documentary Films is about to reveal their perspective of the terror attack to you.
It is said that over 100 security cameras captured terror as it unfolded, I remember the dark cloud that engulfed the country for the 48 hours that followed; fear, injury, death and bravery were all that was being witnessed. The country would never be the same again after this incident.

21st September 2013 is a date many Kenyans would like to forget, the memory of that day is something they would all like to shut out.
This is because on that day, mysterious gunmen unleashed unspeakable terror at the up market Westgate Shopping Mall using guns.
The shooting resulted to around 67 deaths with 175 people left wounded. This massacre was organized by the Al-Shabaab as retribution for the deployment of The Kenya Defence Forces in Somalia.
The details on what exactly went down during that horrific attack are still scanty but HBO is looking to change this. The American premium cable and satellite television network will be showing a comprehensive documentary on the Westgate attack including eye-witness accounts. The Kenyan music industry has enjoyed a meteoric rise over the years but we are yet to roll with the big dogs.
A few artistes blame the DJs for the dismal performance of artistes in the music industry claiming that most DJs do not grant them favorable airplay.
Mike the DJ of Royal media however thinks differently, this is what he said
“I was just chatting with a local artiste complaining about the unfavorable airplay he gets from the Kenyan Media. My humble advice, just invest in time, do your research and get to know it’s a high time you crossed over to the music business and leave the music industry. Don’t rely on main stream media, we also have community radios that can still push you to the public easily and frequently…who tells you someone in Kasipul Kabondo doesn’t treasure you as a good artiste? You have denied him/her that chance because he can’t easily find your music anywhere at the end u end up losing that one fan

The show centers on the lives of four house helps: Awiti, Kalekye, Njambi and Trufena as they go through their daily routines in the middle class neighborhood of Kawangware. Over the years we have seen different media bills drawn up in parliament in a bid to tame the shrew, (i.e. the media) and we have seen journalists and media shareholders take to the streets to contest it.
Mainstream media has been suffering from the brunt of these laws but it looks like they want to crack the whip on online media a.k.a the bloggers too. This is because the state supporters feel that the bloggers have crossed the line by using this medium to fuel ethnic hate and spread false information.
This has sparked a fierce debate, with pro-bloggers saying that “The foundation of peace and prosperity for any nation was not the calmness and silence of its citizens rather the ability of the masses to share their thoughts, feelings and experiences without the fear of victimization.”

After the Jamaican dancehall artiste postponed his planned concert in Nakuru, Kenyan outfit managing the artiste has ultimately revealed the details pertaining to the adjournment of the anticipated gig.
Turf Music Entertainment were quick to abscond themselves from any blame associating them to the cancelation of the planned show on 30th August 2014 in Nakuru. The label rather clarified that postponement was due to unavoidable circumstances solely caused by the technical dynamics of a round tour concert which was assigned to the Ugandan promoter on behalf of Turf Music Entertainment as their African regional agent.
Turf Music Entertainment further illustrated that they were working round the clock to see the show goes on as soon as possible and to new agree date that is favorable to everyone. Well you have heard; there is still time for the show to happen so all fans should just wait a little bid and see how things unfold.

I think this guy either did not practice well or he simply did not get the concept well. Sylvia Njoki is not only a fashion blogger but also a stylist and writer who has worked for Tusker project Fame and Pulse Magazine. Sylvia recently came to our offices and we spoke to her about her blog.
She says that her blog started out as a DIY (Do It Yourself) and crafts blog because she enjoyed making things for her daughter when she was pregnant. This was through crocheting and knitting; she wanted to share this with Kenyans which she did in the blog. After she gave birth, she went back to work. However updating the blog with DIY things proved difficult and that’s when she decided to share outfits she wore daily. From then on things sort of took off and soon she became one of the go-to stylists and fashion bloggers.

Taking time to volunteer or mentor other people is usually a tedious undertaking but one Faith Muturi sees it as a passion and a gift to her too. Simama Outreach Trust is a mentorship program run by Faith Muturi to address issues that young people face such as drugs and alcohol abuse, prostitution, unemployment and peer education. The program is based in Majengo slums and has been transforming the lives of many people there.
That term philanthropy is synonymous to Faith Muturi and it will be good for many other people to join such course in transforming the lives of the less fortunate in society.

The party mood for all those who were planning to grace Naks Vegas concert for Busy Signal has definitely changed as the artiste has postponed the planned event.
Sorry guys but today we have learnt that the Jamaican dancehall artiste through his official Facebook page has confirmed that he has postponed his planned concert in Nakuru until further notice. The musician has however reiterated that it was not his fault but the promoter’s as he was looking forward to the planned concert and had even booked a flight to the country.
It is not over yet until it is over, to all Busy Signal enthusiasts do not lose hope just yet; the artiste may still come if the promoters work out something with him.

Every artiste has a reason why he/she sings a particular song; the logic behind Timmy’s video and name for his song and video is just unique.
In an interview with Homeboyz Radio, Timmy disclosed that the idea behind his hit song came from just appreciating small things that people partake in everyday life. “I thought we could do many things despite of the problems we have, most people blame God; I cannot do this or that, I do not have money; forgetting some people cannot actually walk or do normal stuff. As long as you can breathe you are well. This is how I got the idea” explained Timmy when asked about the idea behind his song.
From the idea of being well, Timmy became creative and changed it to welle welle to make it sound musical. His video is also uniquely done and it just stands out from what other video usually do. To understand what I am talking about; check out these videos for yourselves:

Maina recently visited the unbelievably glorious Olare Mara Kempinski where he took Tim Njiru and his Ideal space crew to his hotel room before embarking on a tree planting exercise at the hotel.

In what is playing out like a Kenyan Romeo and Juliet story, Sarika Patel the Indian girl from a wealthy family can now marry her Bukusu darling Timothy Khamala. This comes after Sarika’s parents moved to court last week to stop the marriage claiming that Sarika had been kidnapped.
With or without the blessings of Sarika’s parents, the unlikely duo can marry after the 21-day window period elapsed. This was a window that the government had opened for anyone with objection to the union to file a petition before Monday.

Angel Waruinge commonly referred to as ‘Miss Morgan’ thanks to her sterling portrayal of a strict deputy principal in hit TV Show Tahidi High was recently bereaved.
Miss Morgan and her sister Shee Waruinge who was once featured on Mother-In-Law have lost their grandmother.
Mrs. Hottensia Wanjiku as she was known by many passed away in her sleep at the ripe age of 90 year, she was buried alongside her husband at her Gathanga farm. Here are some pictures from the funeral. May her soul rest in peace
