The phrase ‘I do not date broke guys’ is something that angers guys a lot, at least the ones in the office.This is judging from the fiery debates we have had in the office about that phrase.

And this phrase often gets people labeling those who utter such words as a ‘gold digger’ and ‘shallow’. You are also likely to be condemned to ‘dying alone’

Which I think are the double standards because you will hear guys go ‘I do not date unattractive girls and go on and on about it,but expect no backlash from it.

The latest culprit to piss off men in such a way is Vanessa who in recent times uttered these words .But before you rush to label her a digger of the gold, hear her out.

Vanessa says that she does not get into relationships for the money, but a broke guy is a total no-no for her. This is because she wants a man who can hold his own financially when it comes to a relationship. Not one who is without end taking, and never provides.Which i think makes sense.

Last Week Kenyatta University hosted its annual cultural week event, which, to say the least, is the best cultural week normally organised by a higher institution of learning in Kenya.

I have been to different universities’ cultural weeks but none has ever captivated like that of KU.

During last Friday’s event, the dais was full of ratchetness, to say the least.

From fashion to dancing, everything looked in place and enthralling.

However, some of the captivating scenes from the event were these students seen doing what they know best, dance and twerk at their own pleasure, as they entertained the large crowd gathered for the event.

This clearly indicates that university students do not only posses brains but also other skills, like parting out and shaking their bodies with verve and vigor, all in the name of getting rid of the stresses that come with CATS , exams and supplementaries, commonly referred to as Sups.

Nairobi Java House has come under heavy criticism of late following what customers believe are poor services rendered to them.

It is just the other day that the restaurant was attacked for what was alleged to be serving customers with food full of worms.

Capital FM’s presenter, Anita Nderu, has taken to twitter to display her displeasure at the services rendered to her when she visited the restaurant.

Dennis Itumbi came under heavy criticism from Devolution Cabinet Secretary Anne Waiguru this after angering the powerful cabinet secretary in what she said was editing her tweet on social media.

Dennis who is the director of digital communication in the office of the president had edited Waiguru’s tweet and then retweeted it, something that touched the nerves of the outspoken cabinet secretary.

Waiguru was seemingly irritated by the act and warned Itumbi to deceased from it.

However, after it was seen as ill blood between the two officials, Dennis Itumbi has taken to twitter to refute claims that he has beef with Waiguru. This is what he tweeted:

And despite the dire effects that include suicide, this habit goes on and on.

In my opinion bullying is carried out by people who are so insecure about themselves that the feel the need to pull down others to boost their self-esteem. Unfortunately, their self-esteem can only get shittier from spewing out such negativity.

Seeing the number of suicides linked to bullying broke my heart. Your memes/tweets etc could be the last nail in someone’s coffin….you ready to live with that?

With only two days remaining before the October breast cancer month ends, more female celebrities are on the rush to be counted among those that took part in the fight against the deadly disease.

Female actresses continue to stand united in the fight against breast cancer and it seems their theme for this year’s fight against the disease is “topless for a good course”. A number of these actresses have posed for a photo shoot with a construction safety hat covering their breasts.

Actress Adhiambo Opondo joined this bandwagon and she too decided to take part in raising awareness for breast cancer; she went topless with two hats protecting her twins in what is understandably a message for people to check their breasts and protect them from cancer.

News reached news rooms that Bungoma senator Moses Wetangula was causing a fracas at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport after he refused to produce his national Identification Card, a requirement that one must fulfil if they have to travel by plane.

This, many believe, was because Wetangula assumed he is a public figure, well known within our territories that he did not require to produce his ID card.

Criticism flew from all corners of the republic over the fracas, with some in support of Wetangula and others against his actions in the airport.

Among the celebrities to air their views on the matter is NTV’s Larry Madowo who, in his Daily Nation column, has lashed out at Wetangula for ignoring the basic rules for air travel.

In his article, “Who Do Our Leaders Think They Are?”Madowo has questioned Wetangula’s actions with an example of Nancy Baraza’s ‘You should know people’ phrase that sent her packing.

Madowo feels that it is time our leaders stopped thinking they are special cases and should be treated with more dignity than other ordinary Kenyans who go through the required processes because they are less known.

He adds that Wetangula’s actions make those who produce their IDs look like they are suspects because they are not known.

Collins Omondi is a household name in Kenya after his portrait of President Uhuru Kenyatta in full military regalia went viral on social media, landing him a visit to State House, Nairobi where he met President Uhuru Kenyatta during his birthday.

However, reports are resurfacing that Omondi is a dead beat dad after a lady who claimed to have been neglected by Collins posted on her facebook page accusing him of being a dead beat dad to her daughter.

In the post dated September 19, 2014, Yvonne Bisinde accuses Omondi of denying her after he realised she was pregnant. This is the post:

However, Ghafla Kenya can exclusively reveal that Collins has denied the allegations terming them false and malicious.

“Those are false allegations the lady came up with when Dead Beat Kenya page was going viral to taint my name,” Collins said when Ghafla called him for comment.

He, however, admits that he had a relationship with the lady but it ended two years ago.

“We were in a relationship, yes, but we broke up like two years ago. These are allegations resurfacing after what I went through from last week,” Omondi added.

Omondi has strongly defended himself over the allegations terming it as unfortunate and uncalled for. He, however, admits that he is aware the lady has a baby.

Biggie yet again unleashed his wrath on Big Brother Africa Hotshots contestant for breaking house rules and he forced the housemate to learn his lesson the hard way.

Tanzania’s Idris received a 48 hours punishment after breaking house rules; he broke a door during the Friday night party. Biggie called all the housemates in the lounge for special announcement after the incident and reminded them responsible maintenance was expected in the house.

Idris punishment includes doing all of JJ’s activities (since JJ is the head of the house) and also all other chores in the house which involve cooking, cleaning among others. After the announcement, Idrs quickly got to his punishment which the rest of the housemates thought was highly amusing.

Ever since she was evicted from Big Brother Africa Hotshots, Sabina has been visiting different media houses round the city and also mingling with different media personalities.

Is Sabina hunting for a job? I won’t be wrong speculating since she was once a news anchor before she quit when she got pregnant. Sabina is still a hotcake in town as it seems every media house wants to conduct an interview with her ever since she was eliminated from BBA. These days it is hard to meet up with a celebrity and just let that moment pass without a selfie to remind you of the meeting so keeping this in mind; KTN’s Sophia Wanuna decided to take one.

Sophia was hanging out with Sabina and since selfies nowadays are a tradition, they decided to have some. The two media personalities really seem to be buddies as you can just tell by how tight they are on the photo.

After banning Gor Mahia from appearing in Machakos for matches, Machakos county governor Dr. Alfred Mutua was busy hosting Miss World Kenya, Idah Nguma, who is a resident of Machakos county.

Miss Idah overcame stiff competition from other contestants to emerge the best and Dr. Mutua was quick to meet and shower praises on the princess of beauty.

Ms Idah will be representing Kenya in the 64th edition of the prestigious Miss World beauty pageant to be held on the 14th December, 2014 at ExCel London, England.

Dr. Mutua has promised to support her all the way to the finals as she represents Kenya in the global competition.

As the continental reality show gathers momentum, representatives from various nations are going through the eviction process, to remain with the most suitable contestant for the prestigious award.

Kenya is already out of the contention after her representatives, Sabina Stadler and Melvin Alusa, were ejected from the house, barely three weeks after they joined.

Now we remain spectators of the continent’s biggest reality show. But that does not mean we give it a total blackout.

This coming Sunday more contestants will be evicted from the house and according to BBA, those nominated for the eviction include Botswana’s Sheillah, who is the only lady up for eviction and Arthur and Frankie (Rwanda), Kacey Moore (Ghana), Luis (Namibia), Mr.265 (Malawi) and Macky2 of Zambia.

It seems this year’s edition is not for women as six of the seven evictees are ladies and it is highly waited to see if Sheillah survives the tide.

Sheillah received the higher number of nominations for eviction (10) with housemates citing both her attitude and manipulative nature as reasons.

Macky2 got 9, Mr.265 got 5 and Luis 4. Kacey Moore and Arthur got 3, Permithias and Nhlanhla and Samantha got 1 nomination each.

It is amazing to see how people grow up to completely transform their physical appearance and one comedian Teacher Wanjiku will surprise you by her looks back then when she probably under 18.

Even with her signature dress code, Teacher Wanjiku is undoubtedly beautiful and this can be well proved by the photos of her captured when she did wear her comic look.

That is present day, but way way back before she even came to limelight, Teacher Wanjiku used to look completely different. By different I mean a complete transformational physical appearance that will make you take a second gaze to identify her.

Look at that naïve girl, she was probably in high school as one can easily tell by noticeable inscriptions on her sweater, it is probably her so no one could steal it. A photo shoot those days required a person to pose while holding a flower or something very conspicuous. Teacher wanjiku didn’t disappoint and posed holding a leave.

Miss Uganda’s Leah Kalanguka has fallen prey to the social media beast where she was mauled for not being ‘good looking’ thanks to a bad picture of her that has been circulating on Social media. She is however unmoved by the critics and is more determined than ever to win the Miss World Crown.

Facebook received massive visits, every second, every minute, every hour, each day by men, irresponsible men who had ran away from their duties as fathers to their sired kids. Bundles were purchased in plenty, cyber cafes visited and internet enabled phones bought in colossal amounts, all in the name of keeping oneself up to date with the developments in the Jackson Njeru-founded Dead Beat Kenya, a social group on facebook that exposed men and women who absconded their parental duties.

Lawsuits followed as massive public outcry could be heard from the victims of the viral facebook group, a group that had spread its branches and roots in equal measure to deep dark ends.

When it could not be withheld any more, Dead Beat Kenya was pulled down from facebook, probably because the pressure was too much.

But that did not mean Jackson’s fame for what could be termed as a mixture of good and bad reasons had ended. No.

As reported by Ghafla Kenya, Jackson is back with a bang and a thud. He has formed another group, controversial than dead beat Kenya, called Home Wreckers MWK, a group which is likely to face a ban as soon as it starts sprouting.

This is a scion of dead beat Kenya, but this time round with a different perspective. Here, mpango wa kandos as they are commonly known in Kenya, are the targeted group.

As Njeru describes the group, its main purpose is to expose those who destroy marriages, the mpango wa kando type of people.

That said, we are left to ask ourselves many questions. But one major borne of contention is, how long will Home Wreckers-MWK last? Will it last longer than its sister group dead beat Kenya? How are Kenyans going to receive this group?

Will it cause havoc like or more than dead beat Kenya did? What is the credibility behind the fact that whoever exposed is a mpango wa kando? What is the prove behind that?

This itself makes the group so vulnerable to a pull down. A closer examination of how the group will look like informs that it will cause even more outcry than dead beat Kenya. Nobody is just going to sit back and watch their name get tainted on Home Wreckers-MWK.

If they rejected dead beat Kenya, Home Wreckers is no exception. This is because how to cull information on the truth on the accused will be problematic.

We are bracing ourselves for more legal battles, more exposes, and more home wrecking than what the page is claiming to be mending.

Consequently, Home Wreckers-MWK is likely to be shut down quicker than Dead Beat Kenya because of its ability to taint even the very innocent.

I honestly do not understand African society’s standards of beauty; it’s so flawed, just like society.

Why am I saying this? Well because Ugandans took to social media to roast their new beauty queen who is absolutely stunning.

It seems that Ugandans have decided to replicate our bad habit of pummeling people with nasty words and insults .Just like Wangui Gitonga who was crowned miss Kenya 2013, Leah Kalanguka found herself on the ugly side of social media as Ugandans trolled her for not having “looks fit for a Miss Uganda ” soon after she was crowned .The crown had barely landed on her head and people were already having angry outburst over her crowning calling her names so bad, that I cannot type them.

However Leah is undeterred by negative naysayers and has released a statement saying just that.

Here is her statement according to a Ugandan Blog:

“Social media is good. Positivity is good and negativity is good. We are in a free world (and) everyone is free to say what they want. I am here for a purpose. Lots of girls out there would like to be in my position. But for this year it’s me.”

“To me beauty is not how you look physically, (but) it’s what is inside you and what you show to the world. I will teach a lot of people what being Miss Uganda is all about; Self esteem and how to develop with people around you. I am ready to represent my country in miss world come December.”

Kenyans must be dying for a fight with Ugandans if the photo below is anything to go by.

They then went ahead and posted a photo of Miss Uganda a former mushroom and poultry farmer against our very own Miss Kenya.

Uganda wins the second round though, because they deviated from the traditional beauty pageant formula,and applied the theme of ‘promoting agriculture entrepreneurship among the youth’.

The event organizers partnered with the Ugandan army and the leggy models got all down and dirty farming and milking cows among other agricultural activities.So in the end,the lady who won Miss Uganda came out more wholesome having learnt new agricultural skills.

Black movies and TMZ have taught me something .If a girl is named Laquisha, Sharkeisha or Shaniqua, you better steer clear of her, because girls with such names really know how to turn up the drama.

And that is what Betty Kyallo realized when she hosted Shaniqua, a cross-dressing actor strutted into the studio and stirred up some drama along with her ‘Jameni’ crew. But not the bad kind, the good kind of drama. It all started with Shaniqua wa Thiongo handing Betty a hoof to boil since we know that bone soup is beneficial to mothers with newborns.

She then went on to host the Friday Briefing segment where man in Bungoma was washed after stinking up the town with his unwashed body. Shaniqua started off with asking “Kwani wanyonyi wote hawaogangi?Ni kunyonya tu!”

Since Big Brother Africa was first launched nine years down the memory lane, Kenya has NEVER won any season of the continental reality challenge and this has not gone well with most patriotic Kenyans.

So when did the rains start beating us? This is the question many will ask regarding the fact that it is almost a decade since Kenya started participating in the continental reality challenge yet year after year the participants that were sent to the Big Brother Africa have always been unexpectedly eliminated from the house. Well season 7 the StarGame saw the King of bling Prezzo emerging as the first runner-up to the bounty but then again history has a very annoying tendency of not remembering number two downwards; everybody knows Neil Armstrong was the first man on the moon but I bet many don’t even bother to know who the second man was.

Kenyan solution to winning the BBA actually is not as complicated as rocket science or anything of that sort; it is simple and it is undoubtedly Vera Sidika. Yes I will say it again, Vera Sidika is Kenya’s secret to winning Big Brother Africa. Try selling a good name of this country in BBA and Africa will keep on sending your contestant packing. Let us face the bitter reality; Africa thinks Kenyans are the most boring people as evident during Alusa’s eviction. No other African country voted for Alusa, he only managed to get the Kenyan votes. BBA is the epitome of controversies, ratchetness and all others things that resonates best with the African youth of which all these qualities are well embedded in one and only Vera Sidika.

This year Kenya’s participants in BBA even performed much worst; Sabina got eliminated after two weeks and Alusa followed suit after three weeks. Sabina missed her baby when her maternal instincts kicked in and she made a dummy to be her baby; she clearly gave African viewers a good reason as to why they should send her home to be with her baby. Meanwhile Alusa on the other hand was the oldest housemates and the African viewers were referring him as “Grandpa Alusa” in their tweets, he didn’t pleased continental viewers much and he was subsequently kicked out as well. So that where i think Vera Sidika should come in to fill such kind of loose ends.

First thing first Vera has no reputation to protect, she will do anything to win that price money. See Alusa was married and Sabina is a media personality so they always played it safe not to tarnish their reputation. Vera on the other hand is a socialite, she thrives well when controversies strikes her; she loves being what most people would bury their faces in the sand. Furthermore Vera drives the Nigerians crazy; they just can’t get enough of her. I bet Africa would have voted favorably for Vera were she in BBA Hotshots. This is the kind of character that is needed in BBA and this is why I strongly believe Vera Sidika should be Kenya’s ultimate weapon of choice when it comes to winning the BBA.

If you are good at what you do, somebody is bound to notice you and reward you.

Probably with a hefty pay increase, a new job or in the case of Chipukeezy, an endorsement. The yellow-wearing comedian has joined the increasingly large number of Kenyan comedians that include Wilbroda and Papa Shirandula who have landed themselves money-spinning endorsements.

Chipukeezy is the new face of Family Bank’s ‘Tajirika na Mamilioni ‘promo that is expected to run from the 27th of October this year to the 27th of January next year.

The promo encourages customers to deposit 5000 shillings as many times as possible into an existing or new account .Those who do this often increase their chances of winning the grand draw and cash prizes in the monthly draw.

There was once a group whose resonance resounded across seven hills, it was so big that CNN ran a story about it! Well before you dismiss the genius behind Dead-beat as yet another nondescript social media influence, He has come up back, flaunting his guns and cracking his whips, He has another Group that he is calling Home Wreckers  MWK commonly known as the mpango wa kando. 

A group that he says will be exposing all those people who are the bane of happy marriages, all those who break other peoples marriages shall be dragged out into the open and chastised heavily. 

Well here is where you grab your popcorn, relax, and wait. This will be fun!!

Machakos town was left in ruins after what is believed to be destruction caused by irate rowdy Gor Mahia fans following Gor Mahia’s 3-2 lose to Sofapaka on Sunday, something that has caused massive criticism from all quarters.

Machakos governor Dr. Alfred Mutua yesterday released a statement banning Gor Mahia from playing again in Machakos and imposed a Kshs. 10 million fine on the club following the destruction of government and private property.

However, this seems to have rattled many Gor fans, among them controversial blogger Robert Alai, who has deeply bitten back.

In his facebook account, Alai is instead demanding that Dr. Alfred Mutua pay Gor Mahia the 10 million shillings, claiming that the Machakos county residents turned against peaceful Gor Mahia fans and started beating them.
