Janet has become a household name since she made her way back from lands yonder to our screens on Citizen TV.

Since her comeback and her subsequent rise to fame, there have been plenty of questions about Janet such as where is she from?Who are her parents, her family, her fiance , the works.Janet recently gave us a look into here life, her past to be precise .

Sonko has literally been pushed to the wall; you won’t be seeing some of his stunts that he used to showcase leaving Kenyans mesmerized.

When it comes to show off, Nairobi Senator, Mike Sonko is definitely the king. The stunts he pulls have always caused a stir.

From moving around with chase cars and sirens to owing high-end pimped vehicles and brandishing of fire arms in public, Mike Sonko has always drawn the glamour to himself making his presence to be felt whenever he goes.

But Sonko can no longer enjoy some of his “privileges” all thanks to one man by the name of Joseph Ole Nkaissery. In case you don’t know him, he is the new sheriff in town (Cabinet Secretary for Interior and Coordination of National Government.)

Nkaissery stripped Sonko the privilege of moving around with a siren. The CS on Tuesday announced new traffic rules that will severely punish motorists who flout them.

Nkaissery emphasized only the President, Deputy President, ambulances and police (when responding to emergencies) are allowed to use sirens. This means no siren for Sonko.

The Media Council of Kenya is dismayed by the continued breaches to the Code of Conduct for the Practice of Journalism in Kenya by Radio Africa Group’s Star Newspaper.

As the body mandated with promoting ethical standards among journalists and the media in Kenya, the Media Council of Kenya is highly concerned with the blatant contravention by the newspaper of a number of articles in the Code of Conduct as entrenched in the Second Schedule of the Media Council Act 2013.

 

The Council is particularly incensed by the persistent publishing of offensive stories and pictures by the Star Newspaper, which continues to offend common decency and family values that the society believes in.

The council has noted a recurrent breach of several articles of the Code by the Star Newspaper including:

 

1. Article  11 on Covering Ethnic, Religious and Sectarian Conflict
2. Article  20 on the Use of Pictures and Names
3. Article 9 on Obscenity, Taste and Tone in Reporting
4. Article 14 on Intrusion into Grief and Shock; among other

Consequently, the Council has summoned the management of Radio Africa Group on Thursday, 22 January 2015 to explain the unprofessional conduct of its journalists before an appropriate action is taken, including a contemplated withdrawal of accreditation of its journalists and excommunication of the paper from media enterprises regulated under Media Council of Kenya.

The Media Council of Kenya advises all media houses in the country to uphold ethical practices as they go about their duties.

 

 

 

The Star Newspaper has, yet again, found itself on the wrong side with the Muslim fraternity in Kenya after today’s publication.

The Radio Africa Group-owned newspaper was compelled to table an apology after publishing in its front page a photo of the Charlie Hebdo magazine that was released yesterday and which looked like it was mocking Prophet Mohammed.

Charlie Hebdo published close to 5 million copies yesterday where its front page had a photo that mocked Prophet Mohammed.

The Star newspaper took it as it was and published it on their page, causing an uproar from muslim leaders in the country.

The BBC reports that the Star was compelled to table a detailed apology over the same after realizing the damage they had done.

Muslims across the globe are outraged by Hebdo Charlie’s publication after 12 people were brutally murdered in its offices on January 7.

The BBC had this title:”Kenya’s The Star apologises over Charlie Hebdo cover”

“A Kenyan newspaper has apologised for publishing Charlie Hebdo’s cover, depicting Prophet Muhammad following an outcry from its Muslim readers. The Star said it “sincerely regretted” any offence caused by the “small reproduction” of the cover.”

After word got out that Don’t mess With Kansiime would no longer be airing on citizen Tv, as Kansiime was taking a hiatus to get more   content, Viewers were scandalised, they had come to love the Ugandan queen of comedy. To averse a looming catastrophe citizen Tv came to the rescue with a Kenyan Soap Opera, Santatal-  A Kenyan drama series set in the beautiful Maasai land. The story revolves around internal family conflicts over inherited land, land grabbing, corruption, and an unexpected love triangle. The soap opera features Faith Munini, Gerald Langiri, Lydia Gitachu, Blessing Lungah’o, Collins Likavu. Special Guest Appearance by Desmond Elliot.

While the idea of a Kenyan soap is a great one, Kenyans have received it differently, many people feel that it is not a great replacement  for Kansiime, it does not match up to Kansiime.

I think every girl can relate to being uncomfortable once upon a time with their assets or another part of her body.

Njoki Chege is still so pissed off by Blue Subaru owners for reasons well known to herself.

After fuel prices went down last evening, the outspoken Nation writer has found to launch her scathing attacks once again on the guys who drive Subarus.

As one Betty Kyallo could say, it seems Njoki Chege was knocked down by a blue subaru or as Philip Etemesi would write a few days ago, this lady must have been smashed like a Zinjanthropus mating by a blue subaru owner and dumped like City Council garbage.

Whichever the case, Njoki Chege’s beef with Subaru owners has been taken to another level altogether.

She seems disturbed by the news that fuel prices will drop significantly when she thinks that this is a very good opportunity for Subaru owners to pull their vehicles out of their parking lots.

However, Subaru owners have not let it go like that. In fact they have mastered the art of responding to the outspoken lady by putting some writings on their subarus, and particularly those that relate their exhaust pipes to Njoki Chege.

Yesterday disturbing news reached newsrooms that COTU Secretary General, Francis Atwoli, had been rushed to hospital after suffering a massive heart attack.

However, his personal assistant exclusively told Ghafla Kenya that those were just rumours that should be ignored outright as Francis Atwoli was in his office as usual working.

Amid these reports, celebrated Kenyan comedian Churchill has tabled his message for the alleged ailing secretary general.

Through his facebook fan page, Churchill has written Atwoli a quick recovery message after hearing the heart-breaking news.

Atwoli is one of the most celebrated individuals in Kenya due to his inability to remain quiet on matters pertaining workers in Kenya.

Last weekend,a 24-Year Old college girl from Embu had to spend the night behind bars after been arrested by the ambitious Embu Police for,according to her accusers,”insulting” the embattled Embu Governor,Martin Wambora.

 Wambora is not new to headlines…He’s been in and out of courts for pretty much the whole term of his Governancy so far. He’s survived an impeachment, been hauled from office,mauled by detractors and engaged in never-ending Embu County dramas that culminated in the mysterious disappearance-and appearance-of the Embu County Speaker,Kariuki Mate.

And last week,Governor Wambora made headlines again. This time,it was in the form of an arrest he sanctioned on a college girl named Nancy Mbindalah (Who names their kid Mbindalah??) Who,according to the County Executive mandarins,was “insulting” the Governor and His Government via Facebook.

Nancy,a 24-Year old fiery MKU student,was swiftly thrown in the coolers…Awaiting her fate.

On Sunday Morning(January,11th) Nancy’s Facebook page was alive and active. And was actually full of many,many posts of people who were inundating her Facebook Wall with words of support and encouragement.

And in a bid to find out exactly what led to the rash arrest of Nancy,I decided to browse through her Facebook timeline inorder to see exactly what the Embu Executives were holding her for.

What stood out,at first,was that Nancy was quite the feminist. Most of her posts were either political or feminist in nature. She seemed to have a real bone to crack with Men in general…and I saw many posts made by her to encourage,extol,incite,charge,embolden and illuminate women.

Good.

Browsing further down the very active timeline, I now came across the posts that she had,probably, been arrested for. And,clearly,this was one political hot head.

Her disdain for the Embu Governor was unmistakable. And her contempt for the whole Embu County Leadership stood out too.

She attacked all. MCAs,Governor, MP,Senator. The whole damn lot.

Clearly, this was one woman who had very little faith-if any-for her County.

And because the Embu Governor-or his handlers-did not disclose the EXACT messages that he deemed insulting, and thus justifying her arrest,I attempted to compile a few for You.

I didn’t see what was insulting in any of these posts,though. And the Embu Government would really be hard-pressed to authenticate the said insults. All I saw was criticism of a kaput system. Constructive,albeit curt,criticism.

Well,sample them…And watch out next time You want to make such posts about Your own County.

Oh,and by 4pm same Sunday evening, Nancy Mbindalah’s Facebook account had disappeared mysteriously. Just like the County Speaker. And,to this minute,it’s still unavailable.

Its NOT clear what happened. She remains OUT of Facebook till now. Over 100 hours later.

Mutava Musyimi wasn’t spared her ire either. Neither was the Senator Lenny Kivuti or the Deputy Governor Dorothy ‘What’s her second name again’??

Nancy is currently out of custody. And even though there were reports that she had been released on a measly Ksh.30,000 bond,other reports indicated that the Governor had actually ‘forgiven’ her. Whatever that means.

If you say Janet Mbugua is hot, then that will be an understatement when you get to see her photo eight years ago.

Today being a Throw Back Thursday (TBT), Ghafla! stumbled on an old photo of Janet Mbugua and I would say it would be injustice for us not to share it today.

The Citizen TV screen siren pulled out an old photo of hers that sure will provoke team Mafisi to feast their eyes on it as they salivate.

The outfit Janet and friends were donning is called “harajuku” a Japanese cultural attire. And this was way back in 2006. Wine gets better with age. And so does Janet.

She is a DJ, a presenter, an actresses and almost all those things. Pierra Makena is one of the hottest celebrities Kenya has ever had.

She adds up as a talented celebrity who can do almost all the things that can put food on a table.

However, Pierra is grappling with one thing that has over time disturbed her: homosexuality.

Speaking to Ghafla in an exclusive interview, Pierra said that many people take her to be a lesbian most because she likes hanging out and dancing with fellow ladies in night clubs.

Many, she says, mistake her for a lesbian.

But why don’t you dance with men in the clubs? Pierra simply says:

Mike Sonko is known for a flashier lifestyle than most entertainers, he has the bling, the state of the art cars and the unending theatrics.

Just recently he caused a stir when he showed up to the Lee Funeral Home in a Gold Chrome plated SUV, with heavily armed bodyguards.

Aside from being ornate, Sonko is known for his generosity and he has done more for the people of Nairobi than those who came before him. He recently established the Sonko Rescue Team who provided social amenities like ambulances, rescue cars and even provided a limo for those planning a wedding.

Many wonder where Sonko gets his money considering that his 6 figure salary cannot sustain his over-the –top lifestyle and philanthropy. This has led to speculations about his source of wealth with many thinking that his wealth comes from drug peddling.

Sonko however denies being a drug baron and reveals where his vast wealth comes from a combination of his businesses, investing in real estate, salary and commission which he invests in his business.
He then goes ahead to dare his accusers to show a drug scandal he was involved in.
