Kenyan Rapper Goes Global. Works With Guys Who Have Worked With the Wu-Tang Clan, Rihanna and 50 Cent

Nairobi bred MC Khaligraph is one Kenyan artist known to make major moves and he starts off this year with a special gift for all his fans.

This gift is called ‘African Violet’ his first international release since Khaligraph hit the music scene in 2009. The hip hop inspired love song which pays ode to African women, features Swedish crooner Christos, written and executive produced by Cedric Muhammad former manager of New York group; Wu-Tang Clan.

‘My African Violet’ was arranged by Curtis Richardson who has written for Rihanna and J. Lo and the song was mixed by Gabe MG, engineer for 50 Cent, Chris Brown and Trey Songz. It was re-mixed and mastered in Nairobi,Kenya’s Studio 44 by Arkishpro and Mansa Chusa. Cedric has been following Khaligraph’s career and has seen a lot of potential in him therefore and choosing him to be the perfect MC to jump on this song. There is nothing more beautiful than a young artist’s work getting recognition by other artists across the world. Khaligraph’s star is shining even far away from home and there’s no stopping him.

khali.jpg

Khali is not an overnight success story he has come a long way since hustling in the streets of Kayole. He chose to venture into the hip hop scene around 2006 while still in high school and he would be seen killing mics at monthly events especially at an event called WAPI. He would make a name for being a serious rapper and a serious contender for being one of the best In Kenya. He continued to hone his skills and take chances. The day would come in 2009 when he enrolled for the biggest rap challenge Africa has ever seen;Emcee Africa where he battled over 30 MCs to emerge the top MC in Africa. He couldn’t travel to Botswana for the finals because he was still in high school. Had he travelled to the finals, we would be having a whole different discussion all together. Khali went back to school.

After completing high school in 2010, Khali slowly started making serious attempts towards the rap game by dropping a series of mixtapes. First it was The Takeover then cameThe Undisputed followed Khaligraph Jones Part 1 and 2. He appeared on several freestyle cyphers including the famous ‘The Peoples Choice Cypher’ that send shivers down Mcs spines. He made sure he made an impression on every microphone he touched. It was through these mixtapes and cyphers that the world heard about this rapper who flows perfectly in both Swahiliand English. His unique style of cleverly written rhymes calculated punchlines and witty choruses earned him the coveted titled of Baba Yao– Their Father. It was clear that this battle MC was a hit maker; on ‘Shiro’which got him airplay on Kenyan radio stations.

Khali has continued to grow hit after hit but he didn’t make a stamp on the mainstream until he released‘We Be Happening’ a track that attracted a remix with A-list Kenyan rappers. He is definitely one of Kenya’s fiercest rappers yearning to shine on any track. He’s dedicated to his craft, and has an impressive work ethic one of the attributes that sets him apart from the rest of his peers. On his recent release ‘Embesha’ he proves that he’s not all about being serious on track but can have a great time doing what he does. Khaligraph continues to show strength as one of Kenya’s MCs that will definitely go far and this track ‘African Violet’ clearly demonstrates this fact. Teaming up with Cedric Muhammad means Khali is on a path of global takeover and we can only wish you join him on this journey.

Cedric Muhammad

“This song is a celebratory apology – an anthem for the beauty and growth in struggle that we often miss, due to life’s painful experiences and our selfishness. It’s about nurture and neglect in relationships. We look up and before we know it, someone has grown up in spite of and often due toour lack of attention. Isolated and left alone, they have somehow found strength in themselves, their surroundings, the universe and their Creator. The African Violet is one of the most sensitive and delicate plants on Earth. You have to water it and raise it with careful attention to light. The plant is native to Tanzania and Kenya, where civilization arose, the symbolism and substance of the African Violet is endless. It is a metaphor for how survival, competition and love can create and destroy.” – Cedric Muhammad .

Nollywood revered actor, Desmond Elliot, is casting his net a little wider as he can’t get enough of the beautiful Kenyan ladies.

The Nigerian playboy was put on spotlight for cheating on his Kenyan girlfriend with another Kenyan lady. Desmond girlfriend was inconsolable when she found out her celebrity boyfriend was preying on other local girls.

Oops! Just realized I was only narrating part of Santalal TV series in which Desmond is part of the cast. Anyway, Santalal is a Kenyan drama series which revolves around an unexpected love triangle, family conflicts over inherited land, land grabbing and corruption.

Desmond flew to the country on September last year to be part of the cast. Jerald Langiri is among the popular faces featuring in the hyped soap drama. Check out the trailer here:

1900 Bullets, A Bullet-Proof Jacket And 3 Rifles Recovered From Fidel Odinga’s Room As Investigations Into His Demise Intensify

The Odinga family and the country at large are still shocked by the sudden, untimely demise of the former premier’s eldest son, Fidel Castro Odinga.

And as investigations into this sudden turn of events intensify, The Star reports that detectives carrying out the investigations yesterday stumbled upon rounds of ammunition and three firearms with a bullet-proof jacket in Fidel Odinga’s Karen home.

The officers who were combing the residence to gather any information that could lead to unraveling the mystery behind the demise of Fidel came across the cache and quickly swept it into safety.

Fidel is a licensed gun holder and therefore he legally owned this stuff.

Meanwhile, a postmortem is expected to be conducted in the course of the day by the government pathologist Dr. Johanes Oduor at the Lee Funeral Home where Fidel’s remains lie.

Yesterday President Uhuru Kenyatta paid the Odinga family a visit and condoled with them and mourned the death of Fidel whom he termed as a personal friend.

The president said he had lost a close friend who knew no political boundaries.

Celebrated Daily Nation’s Cartoonist Get Trolled Badly For Drawing Raila Standing on a Coffin Cracking Jokes (Photos)

Daily Nation’s cartoonist, Gado, is being trolled on social media over his drawing that is deemed to be mocking Raila Odinga.

Kenyans on social media are tearing Daily Nation’s Cartoonist for his piece of art; Gado is a revered satirist and his animation prowess is also evident on popular political satire show, XYZ.

agado ntv

Gado drew a cartoon depicting former Prime Minister, Raila Odinga, standing on a coffin uttering his famous phrase “Kitendawili”. The drawing has elicited a heated conversation as Kenyans on social media think Gado was mocking Raila while he is mourning the loss of his son.

acartoonist

Gado however explains the cartoon drawing that is causing stomach rumbling in most people was two years old. It appears someone intentionally reposted the drawing on social media to maim Gado’s reputation.

agado2

It’s so unfortunate that some maniac is painting Gado in bad light and at the same time dividing Kenyans along ethnic lines. Be warned, the cartoon drawing is no way mocking Raila as it was drawn two years ago.

This Is Why Hakuna Matata Was The Biggest New Year Party!

Everyone loves New Year, I do too, it’s that time when I make a few resolutions that barely go past the first week. With the year 2015 getting closer, Kenyans turned up in their numbers to usher in the new years with kickass parties and celebrations- The biggest new year Party was The Hakuna  Matata  at Manera Farm Naivasha.
The Epic Nation  group turned the whole farm into a masterpiece long before the event started, and when it finally did it became the single biggest  most successful event for the new year. security had been beefed up to cater for the revelers who had come to bid bye and good riddance to the year that was, 2014.
Dj Crossfade started the party and got the 5000k plus revelers into the party mood. then came Dj Incredible who kept the party people on their feet, just when the revelers thought that the party couldn’t get any better, Kenya’s best Dj came to stage, and the party went wild! With the help of DnG and Mc Samora Creme and the Epic Nation led exhilarated Kenyans into New Year 2015, Scott the violinist was at the party too Where he rocked the crowd with his dexterity at playing the violin. H_art The Band Does It Again! Here Is The Video To Nikukutazama!

With no iota of favoritism, H_art the band and Elani appeal to me in ways that I cant even tell- But for a good reason, things like love are best left unsaid, they are best passed in smiles, giggles , kisses in the rain, long walks in the woods and endless picnics in the prairies. such is the nostalgia, the euphoria that is love, and nothing best describes love than the trio that is H_art the band!

Their much anticipated video to their hit single  Nikikutazama- is finally here, and just like the flowery notes that are the well written and thought of poetic lines, the video is on another level of awesome. Their sense of Retro-fashion, the guitar notes the little peeking adverts of the African Internet group:-Easy Taxi and Kaymu- The Whole Set-up was beyond awesome.

Unveiling The New Club Reigning in The CBD

In case you missed the memo, Nectar Bar is the new IT club in the CBD. It’s the only place where it gets thick and heavy every night of the week! The music is too sick, the people come out to party hearty and the prices are just right!

What strike me with Nectar is the ability to offer what I believe to be elementary to any pub or club; alcohol, a toilet and music. However, some things heighten the clubbing experience which most club in Kenya tend to miss. Far too often you’ll hit a club that has afforded you the bare minimum they could afford to give.

But the thing about Nectar Bar is that they have decided to do what they can to heighten the rave experience. I’m talking about;

#Ambiance

The Nectar Bar team sought to create an atmosphere that makes you comfortable with lovely interior enough to spend your hard earned money. When you check into the club you see that everything is relaxed and polite so your brain automatically kicks into chill mode. None of that rushed feel you’ll experience when you enter other shoddy clubs!

#Prices

The prices aren’t exorbitant either

#Music

Nectar has sick mixes from Kenya’s top deejays. The keep the party going! What more can you ask for?

Nectar Bar & Kitchen is located opposite Afya Center.

Do check out their FB page for more info; https://www.facebook.com/pages/Nectar-Bar-Kitchen/1515905582000987?sk=timeline

Before and After Photos Of Churchill,Sleepy David and Owago Nyiro!

The Good book thus records  on 1st Timothy 6:10 “For money is the root of all evil..”  But we cannot deny the fact that the statement is  in itself a double-standard, It is etched on duality, Money is evil, but It can do a great deal of good as well. Yes?

But I digress.

Dennis Itumbi Blasts One Mugo Wa Wairimu Over His Reckless Posts About The Late Fidel Odinga

News that is still lingering amidst us is the sudden demise of Raila Odinga’s eldest son Fidel Castro Odinga which occurred yesterday morning after a night out with friends.

As many are mourning and saddened by the untimely demise of the eldest son of the former premier, one Mugo Wa Wairimu has consistently made reckless postings on his social media accounts, not considering the pain the Odinga family is going through at this moment.

This is why Dennis Itumbi has joined many other Kenyans to warn Mugo over what he speaks about the dead.

Itumbi posted a comprehensive piece urging Mugo to refrain from such reckless postings. This is what he told him:

To Mugo Wa Wairimu – Our worst enemies are those who keep quiet when they should have told you the truth.

I have no problem with mourning someone as sincerely as you find it within your heart and mind.

But Daktari … it befits a people to let their neighbours mourn their son in the best way and in complete comfort even as we Pray for God to provide them the special peace that surpasses all understanding.

It is absolutely unfair to a family, to continue dismissing a son who passed away and expressing strong negative sentiment…however much you differ politically.

I have removed my shoes and assumed I was a family member reading your updates in the context we are in and sincerely tears flowed – yet i was just taking an imaginary role.

The late Fidel, shares a tribe with you and me – That great tribe called our generation. The tribe of youth.

In the language of the tribe called youth, I hoped you would mobilize us to contribute to ensure the rugby club he was supporting continues to thrive and they get a pitch.

Like you and me he made his mistakes, learnt from them and continued living not pretending to be perfect, but like Paul aiming at perfection.

He kept the faith. He Finished his race. He was unafraid of mistakes in his political. Social and I assume economic life. Most importantly, he did not shy from making mistakes.

Fidel is gone. I mourn with the family. I identify with the death of a young person, who had a better shot at life than you and me just because of where he was born…but he did not choose where to be born, just like we did not.

I have sat with Fidel at least twice. He had dreams like you and me. He had a vision and yes he had some regrets…he was a young man, yes more advantaged, but one with the aspirations of a better country just like you and me.

I refuse to Judge Fidel. That is now the duty of God who said it is appointed for man to die and after that judgement.

I refuse to judge you @Mugo Wa Wairimu.

I hear you – none of us should influence your thinking. However, some of us will share our true and sincere thoughts when we think you are wrong.

The decision will always be yours.

The call will be yours to make as long as you are not breaking the law. That is your constitutional right.

That said, I once again mourn Fidel as a son of Kenya and a young man who held alot of promise for our Nation.

May God Keep his family strong, provide endless Grace and courage to each of them.

TV Queen Calls For Thorough Inspection Of Nairobi Buildings After Huruma Building Collapse

In less than a month, two buildings have collapsed in Nairobi, killing scores and injuring many others.

It started off in Majengo in Eastlands when a building collapsed and killed its occupants and injured many more. As if that was not enough, another building collapsed last evening, trapping many residents in the rubble, leaving many injuries to the victims.

This has prompted Citizen TV’s Julie Gichuru to call upon the government to carry a comprehensive inspection of all buildings in Nairobi to ensure safety for the occupants.

Julie particularly wondered how one could pay rent to be trapped in collapsing walls.

It also seems that inspectors and engineers who give go-aheads for the structures to be put up are doing shoddy jobs, therefore risking lives of Nairobi residents.

This is what Julie posted:

“Tragic! People paid rent only for the walls to crush in on them #HurumaBuildingCollapse Thorough inspections must be undertaken across NBI.”

Fashion Diary: The Aztec Print. Add This To Your Closet For 2015.

The Aztecs can be traced back to the 14th and 16th centuries, They were an intellectual lot whose prowess in architecture and science baffles scientists to this day. They are the the people behind the famous Mayan calender- The calender that details the seasons and the point in time when the earth will be no more ( apparently the current populace will be annihilated by Planet X that will collide with planet Earth sometimes next year, Then all of us will be wiped out.. like dinosaurs) Ok before that happens lets have a wee small talk about the Aztec prints- The prints that imbibe the culture of the lost civilization.

The print has been a thing with women, in dresses, skirts, pants and tops. The print is closely linked to the Tribal prints that were a thing in 2014. The print has been tweaked by fashion lovers to suit their dressing style, whether in blazers, Shirts, Jeggings, and anything else you can conceive.

Here is a snip of the print..

He was a distinguished Maasai leader who contributed immensely to his community’s development. He had the virtue of being a good organizer with excellent administrative skills and was also a man of enormous influence and outstanding ability among his peers. His exemplary virtues of hardwork and dedication to duty were an inspiration to many of those who had the privilege to work with him. His death is not only a big loss to his family but also to the nation, which he served with commitment and dedication. I pray that God grants his family the strength to bear the loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this time of sorrow.

Ghafla sends our heartfelt condolences to the families of both Ole Lenku and Raila Odinga at this very trying times.

Renowned Athlete Maurice Odumbe Now Living Like A Beggar (Photos)

While athletes such as Rudisha and Mercy Cherono are enjoying a great career and the good life thanks to their wins, other athletes like Conjestina and Maurice Odumbe are living a life of squalor.

CABU GAH DIARIES: The Kenyan Music Industry Needs Songwriters. Desperately. Size 8 Should Be The First Beneficiary.

For an industry that prides itself in growth, there is one aspect of growth we are all lacking in; Expert Songwriting. And we need that in the industry. We need it NOW!!!

This article was spurred by the latest Size 8 song called “Jemedari“. After she made much hoopla about it,as if it was even worth it,I got around to listen to the song on January 1st 2015. Clearly,it wasn’t the best way to start my Year.

The song title, obviously,is not thaaaat creative but then again, its a Gospel song and we know just how cheeky they can get when they are pressed to be creative in song titles. I mean,we have Gospel songs titled “Bahasha ya Ocampo”,’Furi Furi”,”Sari Sari”,”Dawa Ya Mede” and ummm….more worse titles.

That’s not where my beefs are, though. I want to try and make sense of this whole “Jemedari” song. It started off nice. Actually, the chorus is real good. But the verses…the verses….Good Lord! Size 8 urgently needs a Jemedari wa Kuandika nyimbo.

The verses were painful. Excruciatingly repetitive, shallow, lacking in content, bland and futile. Besides the chorus which, somehow is sweet, whoever wrote her verses needed to be fired ASAP! Unfortunately, she wrote them herself. In the same style and fashion that she had employed to pen all her secular jams.

You know things are about to get real boring when You hear words like “Mkare” in 2015. Words P-UNIT popularized 10 Years ago. She goes on to repeat, over and over, those particular lines throughout the whole span of the unfortunate 3:49 minute song. And for lack of better words and lines to throw into her verses, she drags the chorus soooo damn long. It keeps going on and on and on eating up precious song time and offering nothing really new.

And just when You think she has a new verse now,she launches into the tried and tested Christendom mantra,”If he has done for Me,He will do for You too” and ends up,like the rest of the song, dragging the refrain all across the song and then,in the last suicidal move, launches into that very loong, stretchy chorus again and BAM! The song is over.

A kindergarten kid could have written that song. At 3pm In the afternoon. After a heavy dish of matoke na mananasi.

But this really is NOT about Size 8’s lack of songwriting mojo,Its about a whole industry’s,basically.

And while we appreciate that we DO have very amazing songwriters in the Kenyan Music Industry, the likes of Ben Aime of Sauti Sol and Collo and Ruth Matete andf the folks over at Hart_the Band, the biggest bulk of the industry needs to STOP writing its own content.

DNA’s case, for instance,is beyond redemption. He’s not only armed with the lamest lines and rhymes,It nearly impossible to wrap Your head around a DNA song. And thus write a song for him. I have talked about Willy Paul a thousand times too. And how badly he needs a songwriter who will deviate form the usual Willy Paul Kitanzi/Machozi/Mama/Maurana themes. All of which go nowhere anyway.

No matter how good a singer or performer Beyonce may be,she desperately needed SIA to write the song “Pretty Hurts” for her for it to be the smash it it ended up being. And look what happened.

Sia,too, wrote ‘Diamonds‘ for Rihanna and look what happened.

90% of the biggest music stars You know had their famous hits written FOR THEM! Yes,even the Best Rapper who Ever Lived,Nas,has admitted to having his music written for him by his own younger brother. And ghostwriting is not a new thing to HIPHOP anyway.

Songwriiting is a talent. And most songwriters may not even be good singers after all. The fact that You can sing good, sell records, perform impecabbly and maintain celebrity visibility does NOT mean You can write as awesomely either.

Songwriters write from the heart. The write from inspiration…form the depths of their souls…from the sounds of silence. As opposed to a pop artiste who just writes to please masses and make a quick buck and big record.

The Kenyan Music Industry is replete with ‘singers’ and ‘performers’ who badly need material written for them. We also need to create a songwriting industry…composed of a team of the best and sharpest songwriting minds whose core business is to create songs, write them and send them over to Record Companies-like Ogopa or Penya or Sub-Sahara-and make their money out of it.

I bet there are thousands of genius songwriters out there who would pen amazing jams for Avril,Size 8,Kendi,Ala C,Kenzo,Kidum,Victoria Kimani,Tiwa,Wahu,Marya,Habida etc etc.

Artistes like ALA C,for instance, should QUIT writing their own music ASAP! So should 90% of the industry.

Having Your song written for You,like Collo wrote Brenda’s ‘Good For Nothing‘,helps in ways You can never imagine. Besides having a fresh sound,A songwriter enables You to tap into Your deepest self, express Yourself more differently, explore other themes, look at the world from a different perspective and have a whole different sound and tune altogether.

Jaguar too needs a songwriter. Infact,2 or 3 or 4 songwriters. And he will NEVER be the same again.

Kenyan artistes must allow Kenyan songwriters to thrive, shine and prosper by allowing them to write songs for them and paying them renumeratively.

And Kenyan artistes must dump either the superiority complex that tells them that NO ONE can write a song better for them than themselves or the stinginess that tells them that paying someone hard cash to write a song for You is wasting Money.

This is 2015. I need to hear different sounds…different themes and different approaches at Music from our Superstars. And that can only happen if they allow songs to be written for them.

I believe we have enough superb songwriters lying idle in this country. With awesome music lying idle in their bedrooms. Use these People!

Oh,and Amani too, that girl needs soooooo many songwriters. Gosh!

We need our own Stargate. Our own The Dream, Our own Neyos. And our own SIAs.

Let’s make it a different Year. Will we??? One song at a time.

Caroline Mutoko Gives Shocking Reasons Why She Loves Vera Sidika And Larry Madowo

Socialite Vera Sidika made headlines in 2014 when she went overboard to be the first Kenyan to alter her complexion and enlarge her body parts, thanks to her engagements in the socialite world.

She was rumoured to date a wealthy Nigerian oligarch who furnished her living standards, effectively plunging her into the international fame.

Even though Vera does not look as real as Ugandan socialite Zari, she has received much backing from a number of celeberities.

While other Kenyans bashed her for her exploits, Caroline Mutoko thinks she is the figure that made 2014 an interesting year and that is likely to make 2015 even more interesting.

Mutoko remembers the day she hosted Vera in her Kiss 100 show and this made her change her mind about the socialite.

Other celebrities and people making Mutoko’s list include Larry Madowo of the Trend. Madowo has been a phenomenal figure on our screens, rising from level to level to become one of the most adored TV personalities in Kenya.

There is also Njoki Chege of the Daily Nation. Who does not know Njoki Chege? This is the woman who has zero chills and has consistently made men, especially those with Blue Subarus have sleepless nights and feel so belittled. She, consequently, entertains Caroline Mutoko a lot.

Here is what Mutoko said about them and the other two individuals who according to her underlined 2014 and are expected to make 2015 even bolder.

Brown-Eyed Socialite Vanessa Chettle Accused of Being a Con-Woman

People say that socialites do not have to work hard, but being a socialite in Kenya is hard work. You are better off lifting stones at a mjengo because maintaining your Instagram-worthy lifestyle as a socialite is not easy. E No Easy…ooh.

You have to have high-end phones no mulika-mwizi’s for you, lustrous hair from foreign countries and state of the art cars to get the recognition you deserve. But what happens when one cannot keep up with the likes of Vera?

vera_cover_7.jpg

What happens when you can only afford to rummage through mtush and Gikosh? What happens when the only bottle of Chateau Margaux you could ever afford is one brewed at a questionable distillery by Nairobi River?

You find dodgy means to remain relevant such a stealing, drinking and dashing and for some shopping and dashing.
Vanessa got herself into a pickle after allegedly shopping then refusing to pay up. The result was her being hang to dry on Buyers Beware.

Sorry people for the suspense, was trying reach the “shoshoret” on phone.

Well everything went on well, but as soon as I said why I was calling her, she kept saying ” I can’t hear you” can’t hear you ” Ari” ?

So, told her she has been exposed as the shoshorate who hangs about on borrowed clothes and we are going to put her pics on FB to warn people.

She goes like, well my pictures are all over FB aaaannd, hangs up.

She said, ” stop bothering me for cheap small money” and the line was dead.

So, y’all sellers out there, be aware. Never know you might be next. It might only be 1500kshs she is owing but deni hata ” fiu” ni mbeca.

Hello Atty,
I want to shame one Vanessa Chettle, shes a ‘socialite’ whom i got to sell dresses for her events but she doesn’t pay. She owes me sh 1500. Might be little money but i can do something all the same.
I sold her 3 dresses in different times. She had a mzungu husband in which she made me chase around to get the cash instead of telling him herself.

For the 3rd dress, she said she’ll pay herself in which it has been a cat and mouse game. Stood me up in town one time.everytime i call her she promises to send immediately but that never happens. I would appreciate if you helped me get the cash.

Attempts to reach Vanessa for her comment on this matter proved futile as our calls went unanswered.

Caroline Mutoko Spent Her Birthday in Korogosho Slum. You Won’t Believe This Is What She Was Doing (Photos)

There are a million places Caroline Mutoko could have spent her birthday at but she opted to go to Korogosho slum. There is a good reason behind her action though.

Caroline started the year with making a difference, she wanted to impact positively on the lives of the less fortunate in society.

She went on a charity mission during her birthday (last week); Caroline visited the informal settlement of Korogosho alongside a team from the Safaricom Foundation and took part in raising cash towards refurbishment of a school.

Caroline revealed it was her first time to use her birthday to make a difference. Down is what she posted and some pictures of her during her charity mission?

Today is my birthday

For the first time in forever, I’ve to use this year and my birthday to make a difference.

So last week, I visited Korogosho with an amazing team from The Safaricom Foundation and saw something I would like to be a part of.

I’d like to help the school in these pictures.

Please help me raise Kshs. 400,000/= towards the cement costs for re-building this school, by sending whatever you can to

Ommy Dimpoz has those super cute Davido dimples that have made him a hit with the ladies, but what has actually gained him respect is the slew of hit songs he has managed to unleash.

THE TRUTH: Njoki Chege Is Just A Basic, Foul Mouthed Lady Who Knows Nothing About Cars And Technology……She Should Just Leave Men With Subarus And Instagram Accounts Alone

Over the weekend I received some very disturbing news. Daily nation columnist Njoki Chege had attacked Blue Subarus again. Blue is my favorite color and the Subaru is one of my favorite vehicles. Perhaps that’s the reason why I have emerged from my cave all daggers drawn. To pour more water on a sinking boat, she unleashed her fury on men who have Instagram accounts too.

Normally, I’m not the kind of guy to react after getting hit by blunt projectiles but when someone belittles the things you adore, you have every right to pull a verbal Mayweather on them . I had vowed not to comment on anything Chege-ish but whenever I logged into Twitter I got bombarded with global outpourings of Chegemania. I believe this is what is called Chege-sim-by-proxy. ‘That’s the ish I don like.’

I understand that Njoki Chege is not everyone’s cup of tea. She can be abrasive, arrogant and intolerant to mediocrity. I respect her bold attitude but I have to straighten the bent lines before every young Kenyan girl out there is made to believe that Subarus are vehicles for losers. And that Instagram, the smartest invention since Facebook, is an application for basic brothers. I will play Olivia Pope (damage controller) for all the affected ninjas.. Like one Twitter user said, Subaru Kenya need a sit down with Njoki Chege before she ruins their brand completely.

If you are serious about cars, then you understand that Subarus are among the most highly recommended vehicles in the world. Even Top Gear, the worlds’ number one Car Review Show has had all models of Subarus certified excellent.

I have a conspiracy theory slash assumption on the origins of Njoki Chege’s beef with Subaru loving men. I just have this feeling that Njoki Chege was ‘chips funguad’ by a guy with dreadlocks from Kayole. The most likely scenario is that she met this guy at some event , let’s say at Masaku Sevens last year and the guy had a cool Subaru Imprezza. The probability stakes here are that he might have lied to her he lived in Karen then whisked her to his uncle’s mansion in the leafy suburbs. Then he smashed her like a Zinjanthropus that was mating and never called her again. Yani shuma ililala ndani ya (S)hege. All she now sees is the guy posing on Instagram with other clueless women

But that’s not the point really. Let’s get to the Subaru once again. There’s something solid in that car that other car manufacturers try to emulate, but just can’t seem to master. And that’s it’s never ending elegance. A Sub might not be as luxurious or as high-class as a BMW or Range Rover, but it gets the job done and gets it done well — and that’s what all-wheel drive performance is all about. So what if it costs 600k. How many young people can afford that? If you can successfully buy one without a loan, it means you are on your pathway to success and I don’t see any justifiable reason to rubbish that sort of achievement.

insul

It’s the perfect Bachelor’s car. It’s the car for the man with potential. The man who will buy a Mercedes in future. When you’re ripping through muddy trails of Kenya’s bad roads at unruly speeds, heel-toeing and hand-braking and generally having a good time, a Subaru is the machine to have. Loaded with an upped 265-horsepower 2.5-liter turbo engine instead of the standard 224 one is just blown away when driving a Sub.

Apparently the Njoki Chege type just likes ready-made men. They don’t care to know how the man was baked. They don’t like making a man. Most of those ready-made men that have planes and twenty million shilling cars now all started with a Toyota, Subaru or Nissan salon car. And those men are married now. They have families. So excuse me, but what I’ve witnessed oozing from that Nation writer so far is just side chick mentality.

What about Instagram? There’s no crime for a man to be on Instagram. This wonderful application makes you measure your appeal. It actually makes you know how likeable you are so that you improve or keep it that way. In today’s world, being cool and classy is essential. Only ugly women hate Instagram because they have nothing to show off. And i have a problem with ugly women who have unrealistic standards. If Njoki Chege was to bend, she would look like a geometrical set compass at 90 degrees.

Hot girls on Instagram love guys on Instagram because guys on Instagram are the ones who give the likes. Maybe Miss Chege once made an attempt on posting a photo there but only got five likes. Then she went on a fuming spree and declared herself ‘hot and in demand’ in her recent article. She feels hot? Okay that’s understandable. Maybe it’s because of the hot Nairobi sun, because I feel hot too. It’s hot. Let me take off my jacket.

Listen here lady, we are not going to quit Instagram just because you said so. I know it’s easy to dismiss the photo application as the playground of voyeurs and those afflicted by FOMO (“fear of missing out”) but it has helped make the careers of paint artists, photographers and fashionistas .

The only problem with Instagram is the food-porn maniacs. The people who post pictures of chicken and beef steak and praise the meals so much you would think it’s Beyonce lying on a bed in purple Gucci lingerie. Otherwise the app is just fine. If you don’t have time for it, that’s your problem. If you lack enough data bundles that’s your problem. Holla at your Nanyuki bound man to find time between kissing his clande in order to sambza you data bundles. Don’t go digging out none-facts that’ll help you demonize a rather perfect app. So what if I filter my photo and end up looking like a black Bradley Cooper? If it’ll make Njeri want to devour me, then it’s a go. People use dirty tricks to achieve end goals all the time. Let Subarus be. Na sio tafadhali

Go lick ice on the alps you ^$#%$&^$$&$ (*&(&(

As Boniface Mwangi Appeals For Protection, Did You Know That Mohammed Ali Had Gone Into Hiding?

We may not have performed as badly in the Press Freedom Index as Turkmenistan, DRC and Eritrea , but don’t bring out the champagne and caviar yet. Kenya’s press freedom has greatly declined.

In fact last year saw us drop from position 71 in 2013 to position 90 in the press freedom index. The report claims that the decline can be attributed to draconian legislation and what they say is the government’s  dictatorial response to the media’s coverage of the Westgate Mall attacks.

Here is a screenshot from the report:

kwnytA.jpg

Increase in violent threats against journalists as witnessed in recent times might have also caused this decline

Boniface Mwangi a photo journalist recently came out fearing for his life and now Daily Nation reports that Mohammed Ali of the Jicho Pevu fame had gone into hiding.

MOHA.jpg
It is said that Mr. Ali retreated to a safe house recently something which his colleague John Allan Namu confirmed.
“I am aware my colleague was in hiding but he has now taken leave. I think what he is going through because of his work is deplorable. Investigative journalism is important in a democracy and should not be seen as a crime,” concluded Allan Namu.
