Karaoke Night is Finally Here Beautiful People! Here’s Where we Are Going to Croak Those Voices With no Judgments
Nothing quite captures the night life more vividly than the sake-soaked image of drunken “salarymen” crooning & shaking their bodies to “Drunk in Love” in a bar for the second and most definitely not last time. Once in a while we need a night twisted with insanity and loads of fun to keep us in check. It’s but our right.
Karaoke Wednesday is back beautiful people, since not all of us can pass through the scrutiny of judges at ‘The Voice’, lets just settle with what we have.
Scratch is located on Moi Avenue, 2nd floor of Sonalux House
Come ready to let loose, sing and dance all night!

Lupita Nyong’o Breaks Up With Boyfriend K’naan To Create Room For Jared Leto
Lupita Nyong’o has been stunning us over the last couple of days with her dress and a completely overhauled and new hairstyle, something she has rocked for the very first time over a long period of time. In fact I cannot remember the last time I saw this mademoiselle with braids on her clever head.
Well, after that SAG Awards ceremony where she wowed almost all of us, one guy was busy salivating as the other was shedding tears somewhere in the States.
Lupita Nyong’o is rumoured to have broken links with her boyfriend singer K’naan and landed in the hands of fellow actor Jared Leto.

The two were spotted together in the after-awards party getting cosy together, sparking a rumour that they could be dating.
Well, who knows what runs in the mind of the celebrated actress? Only time will tell.
School Children Go Berserk In a Traffic Jam At The Sight Of Sauti Sol. See The Crazy Thing They Did
Sauti Sol’s influence has penetrated deep in the country. Little school children made a scene in traffic jam when they spotted the singing quartet.
Nairobi’s traffic can be really annoying especially if you in a vehicle with no gadget on your hand to keep you busy. Three Bells pupils devised a clever way of passing time in a jam.
Upon realising they had been stuck in the jam with Sauti Sol, the young ones decided to show them they were also good at shaking it down the Lipala dance way.
The little dancers swayed their bodies as they showcased their prowess in executing Lipala dance moves. Sauti Sol caught the whole action on camera. Check the video below:

Many a times we have seen men clobbered their women, either publicly or privately, with others choosing o effectively end their affair while others decide to stay put and sort out the unfortunate acts.
The latest celebrity to plunge herself into this very sensitive topic is Ex-Tujaune Diva Yvonne Bulimo.
Speaking exclusively to Ghafla Kenya, Miss Yvonne looked utterly shocked when our reporter asked her what she thinks about men who beat their women.
The diva was quick to disown such men and said that this is the most unfortunate thing that can ever happen to a lady.
She also had a word for ladies who provoke men intentionally to pick a fight.
Yvonne said:

Jose Chameleone Finally Speaks About Cheating Rumours In His Marriage
Jose Chameleone is one of the most celebrated and recognised artistes in East Africa and beyond, thanks to his marvelous exploits in the music industry.
The veteran heartthrob has been in this industry for a decade and half, and he seems to go from strength to strength, as he gives his legion what it deserves in the manner it deserves it.
However, this illustrious career has not been without massive challenges.
Among the many stumbling blocks that have threatened to throw his career into slumber are cheating rumours that keep surfacing each day.
The father of five has been embroiled in controversy after another, with many Ugandan blogs claiming that he is practising infidelity behind the knowledge of his loving wife.
However, the singer has finally spoken to Ghafla and revealed what has been going.
In an exclusive interview with Ghafla Kenya, Chameleone says that he has never cheated on his wife of many years.
The singer added that he has always remained faithful despite the unfortunate rumours peddled around to tarnish his name.
The singer also had soft words for his wife whom he greatly thanks for remaining focused despite the negative publicity he receives at times.
Chameleone added:
This is What Eric Omondi Has Planned For His Fans Over The Valentine’s Day Weekend
After staging a very successful show in Nairobi & Mombasa just last month over Christmas wearing Santa Claus’ shoes, Eric Omondi is back again, causing a stir.
He is set to perform he’s much celebrated solo stand-up comedy show, ‘Untamed’, now we are on season three, which is headed to Safari Park Hotel on the 13th and on the 14th, he’ll be at Whitesands Beach Resort.
Just like the last many seasons of ‘Untamed’, Eric will be airing his naked truth for all to see with no supporting acts whatsoever. He’ll be a single man, one, one stage and three hours of nothing but rick-cracking jokes.
The comedy show has emerged as one of the biggest and most important stand-up comedy brands ever set up in Africa.
The petite stand-up comedian will be in Mombasa over the Valentine’s Day weekend, from 6pm to 11pm.
Come experience Eric Omondi at his best. Brought to you by Safaricom, Barclays, Kenya Airways, Martini & Stima Sacco.

Pierra Makena Pleads With Kenyan Singers To Spare DJs. Find Out Why
Kenyans can really be on your neck especially when you do not dance to their tune or you simply do not conform to their ideals.
This perhaps is the reason why DJ and actress Pierra Makena has jumped to the defense of fellow Disk jokers.
Speaking exclusively to Ghafla Kenya, Pierra has revealed the reasons why Kenyan songs are not given enough airplay; be it on radio, TV or in clubs.
Makena says that DJs normally do what fans instruct them to do and may be that is why they disappoint many artists in the country.
She has said that Kenyan fans love foreign music and that is what they normally request in clubs and in the media, effcectively rendering the local content unnecessary.
The actress has, however, stressed that Kenyan music is growing and should be taken seriously if people want the industry to flourish.
She also added:
The Second Edition of Gospel Social Hook-Up Event Is Back, With a Purpose!
Get ready for the 2nd edition of the biggest gospel social event to ever hit the entertainment scene. The Gospel Hook-up will be launching its Love Edition where all fun loving Christians will get together, mingle, network, have lots of fun and basically just let lose.
With the premier of Gospel Hook Up last November Christians and gospel lovers now have a hang out like their secular counterparts who have many social events. Gospel personalities also have a placed deemed to be unfit for their ministry to hand out and mingle with their fans without any backlash.
The Gospel Hook-Up social event will also reach out to the vast majority who are un-churched using the language they understand best which is music, fun and hook-ups (mingling).
Apart from having fun, the event also hopes to effectively bridge the gap between company owners, employers and the potential employees. I believe we have so many young people who would attend such an event just to boost their chances of getting employed and that is why we have come up with team building activities to help people mingle as they have fun.
The date to mark is 8th of February 2015 at Arboretum Grounds from 12pm-6:30pm. The event will be headlined by the popular Adawnage band who will provide live quality mature music together with MOG, Bern and Guardian Angel.
We will have games like pool table, Fussball, PlayStation 4, Poker, Karaoke competition for friends and team building activities among other things.
The guest artists who will attend the event are Mercy Masika, SOC, Holydave, Ruth Matete, Ambassada, Hope Kid, Benachi, Dk, and Mr Seed with many other yet to confirm attendance.
Here Is What Elani Have Been Using To Gain An Edge Over Their Rivals
Singing trio, Elani has spelt the beans on their mojo. The group has been very successful with their music winning the hearts of many.
Elani has completely revolutionized the way we perceive musicians and music at large. With many people thinking musicians are only a bunch of “average” educated fellows, Elani came forward to demystify the notion.
Perhaps they are the most educated musicians. Two advocates and one actuarial scientist, Elani definitely belong in some glass office in one of the city’s skyscrapers.
Even so, they attribute their music success to their education. Elani disclosed without education they wouldn’t be able to think the way they do.
“Education is very important. Without it, we wouldn’t be able to think the way we think. You can achieve your dreams beyond your wildest imaginations. You only have to keep working, apply yourself and make sure you have your eyes on the prize. We regard highly all those who graduate after putting in so much” wrote Elani.
Rev Kathy Kiuna Is Alleged To Have Banned Poor People From Attending Her Church!
Twitter has been ablaze after it was reported that Kathy Kiuna Of JCC has told off paupers who frequent her church, It has been said that at a sermon, Kathy said that people who come to her church must offer something as well as tithe.
The plot thickens since she is said to have suggested that all over Nairobi are other Worship houses that can comfortably accommodate paupers. Kenyans have not taken in Kindly the remarks that Kathy allegedly made, especially owing that Kathy Herself came from a humble past.It is also alleged that she has advised poor female congregants to move to posh Estates and Get rich men to wife them.
Scores of humanity has accused her of classism, she has introduced to her church, (where everyone is considered to be equal) the view that societies are supposed to be stratified into social classes, by making it harder for the poor folk to attend her ministrations.
Rev Kathy is yet to comment on the allegations. Here are some of the reactions on twitter.

Hmmm. The biggest artists in East Africa caught out together; what could be brewing? Is it a new song or is it a new music academy? Or maybe they decided to form a cult.
As we came to find out, they were basically just hungry and out to hunt; not for a rhino but for the next biggest act in East Africa. Having made a mark in the industry, they only deemed it fit to leave their throne for other people to thrive and conquer and this they plan on doing in a new TV show set to premier on the 9th Feb on Maisha Magic.
Dubbed Maisha Superstar, it is set to air on DSTV Channel 161 from 8PM promising wild filled entertainment as each of the selected contestants square in out for the top prize. But will they impress the judges?
Tune in to the show to find out.

Poll: Kiss FM Lead Top Radio Stations From Behind. Number 7 And 8 On The List Will However Surprise You
IPSOS has released a survey it conducted in January to analyze radio listenership in the country. The radio stations that made it to the list will surprise you.
Among all the radio stations that made it on the list of top ten radio stations in the country, Kiss FM is the only urban radio station that made the cut.
The station closed the list at position ten commanding an audience size of about 2.5 million loyal listeners.
Also surprise guests on the list are Inooro FM and Kameme FM which have been ranked 7th and 8th respectively. The two are also the only vernacular radio stations to appear on top ten list. They have a combined listenership of approximately 5.6 million listeners.
Top on the pinnacle is Radio Citizen followed by Jambo FM, Radio Maisha and Radio Taifa respectively. Check out the list below to see how other radio stations faired:

Bonface Mwangi And Okiya Omtatah’s Type Of Activism Is Antiquated, Celebrated NTV Anchor Posits
Lately, activism activities have intensified in the country following what many perceive as mistreatment and blatant breakage of the laws as enshrined in the constitution of the land.
The latest activism activities witnessed in the country and particularly in Nairobi were on last Monday where under the slogan #OccupyLang’ata, activists joined Lang’ata Primary School children to flush out grabbers who had put up a perimeter wall on the land.
What followed was tear-gassing of school children by police officers, something that caused massive public outrage, prompting key government officials to intervene and return the land to the school.
However, despite the fact that Bonface Mwangi and his colleagues’ activities bore fruit, NTV’s Larry Madowo has dismissed their type of activism by calling it archaic and antediluvian.
Larry strongly believes that online activism is slowly taking over as everyone can engage in activism to call for an action.
Larry gives an example of the most recent incident where blogger Abraham Mutai was released in half a day after being arrested for being critical of the government.
Kenyans went online to demand for the immediate release of Mutai, something that happened with hours after his arrest.
Activism is not all about taking to the streets or spraying blood with pigs in Parliament. Online activism, according to Madowo, is the best form of activism that all of us should embrace.
Are You Thick & a BBW? Plus Fabulosity is Looking for You
For centuries, the skeletal, sickly girls who pass as fashion models have been praised! Containing more meat on your skin was shunned and looked down upon on that account, ridiculous ways have been used by plus size women in hopes of getting that model figure that media has for centuries put down our throats as the ideal woman. Real beauty isn’t found in size zero, and it’s time plus-size models redefine what society considers beautiful not the heroine addict-looking supermodels.
And us women, love YOU. You have so much beauty inside of you that’s dying to come out. All you need to do is wake up every morning and have the confidence to to show it off. There’s nothing wrong being big, just be disciplined to be healthy. While curvy, you are still beautiful and still you. Life is too short to care what the next person thinks about your weight, if he or she has a problem with it, it’s THEIR problem, eat that damn cupcake if you want too!
I digress, my point was, the First Exclusive Plus Size Auditions is about to go down. I’m here to let you dear reader know when it will be, what you need for the auditions plus any other thing concerning the auditions.

How the Internet Has Revolutionised the Kenyan Music Scene and Why Online Shopping is The Answer We’ve Been Searching For
How the world has changed over the years. Now in the comfort of your living room, you can download an album from your favorite Kenyan artists, tweet them how you liked it, open another tab in your device and order food from your favourite restaurant and while you enjoy it, search for what gift to get your girlfriend just before valentines gets here.
Easy and convenient as opposed to past years where even getting one song from your favourite artist was a tedious task; harder than getting your favourite celebrity to tweet you back; such ungrateful people.

However putting that aside, one thing we have to admit is that Kenya has really made tremendous steps in revolutionizing shopping in Kenya. According to a 2013 report by McKinsey Global Institute, mobile phone has revolutionized the way individuals interact and the way SMEs operate in Africa. Kenya records over 30 million mobile internet subscribers (statistics released by the Communications Commission of Kenya in 2013).
Such huge numbers coupled up with an ever expanding middle class who are more than willing to savour the good things life has to offer, you need innovative and expansive ways of ensuring that this good things get to them; like the new song by Khaligraph, have you listened to it? That’s when the internet comes in which in turn harbours useful avenues like Kaymu, OLX, Pigiame, Jumia and many others.

This is an online marketplace that brings together buyers and sellers from all over the country in the same platform. Not only is it convenient but also a safe platform on which to conduct business while giving great deals on price as well as business advice to its listed sellers. And with over 2000 sellers and counting, you can only imagine the impact this platform can provide.
As Kaymu’s Managing Director, Aleeda Fazal notes, “eCommerce platforms like Kaymu offer a convenient and inclusive shopping experience for Africa’s growing middle class and through this, facilitate the growth of small businesses across the country. “
And having experienced the benefits of online shopping, I would advocate you also join me and be part of the awakening.
GHAFLA EXPLORES: I Partied At A VIP Club In Lagos Nigeria This Past Weekend…. And Here Are All The Juicy Details About The Alcohol, The Prostitutes,The Juju And Where The Oga Brodas Beat Kenya
They say, ‘there ain’t no party like a Lagos party.’ When I flew to Lagos this past weekend, I was hoping that perhaps I’d find out that the saying was a well magnified lie. Unfortunately it’s all true.
Going as a ‘Blogger Of The Year’ finalist in the African Social Media Awards, I was looking forward to having mad fun. After all, travel is best expressed through celebration. And fun did come in plenty. Forget the biased press, there’s more to the Nigerian capital than film, music and Boko Haram (who are only in North East Nigeria by the way,)
The city’s glory isn’t apparent upon arrival. The airport (Murtala Muhammed) is chaotic. It’s full of gun-toting cops and self-imposed foreign exchange dealers. The immediate mtaas aren’t so beautiful either as they belong to the less-affluent members of society. Campaign posters are scattered all over as it’s election season. But dig into the sprawling concrete mass and you’ll find greater diversity and intensity that fertile ground for nightlife ought to have
The rich live mostly on the main island in palaces to die for. That’s where our five star hotel was located, just a few meters from the deputy governor’s house. The environment is vibrant and there’s class to all proceedings that take place. .
As I was in the company of a few other Kenyans, we didn’t hesitate to hit the club the night we landed. Our Nigerian hosts had proven to be friendly so I brought up the idea of us continuing with the exchange of culture over the clinking of glasses and between the flashes of strobe lights. After all, it’s always been my dream to be an international nightlife connoisseur.

Our new Nigerian friend Uche called a cab guy and asked him to take us to one of the coolest clubs around. Well, he did. Lagos touts some of the ritziest and most prestigious nightclubs. If I was to travel to all the major cities of the world and asked to name the hottest party zones, the west African port would still receive a honorary mention. It’s simple the staple of African merriment
Omojowa is what the cub guy called himself. He seemed like an honest chap but his only problem was that he couldn’t shut up. Pidgin English flew out of his mouth like missiles out of Israel into gaza. He kept bombarding us with story after story about who was who in Nigeria. Occasionally, he would slow down to show us a politician’s house or a music producer’s apartment. It was tiring but interesting nevertheless.
Initially, we found it to pick the best spot to grace but we settled on one 3-floor mega club, which according to Uche, was frequented by the P-square brothers. We were in for a few surprises though. Apparently, foreigners are not allowed to take photos. This is because the bad habits of ‘mzungu’ journalists from abroad who have the tendency of coming into Naija and taking bad pictures of Africans. . So there was an oga bouncer on our tail making sure we didn’t mess up. However, that didn’t ruin our party spirit.

‘The Paris Of Africa’ as the exuberant locals call it, has something for everybody, from young artistes blowing their signing bonuses to chiefs drinking their way through mid-life crisis. There’s an emphasis on fashion too as almost everyone has tailor-made attire. There’s no noise control though as sometimes conversations from the rich honchos get louder than the music itself
I would be a crime for me to forget the Nigerian girls. They were turnt-up like it was their last party. Thick thighs in short skirts were evident all over. Unlike in Kenya, booties aren’t a scarce resource in Niaja. Even the ugliest chic has a dereirre worth talking about. It’s difficult to find a skinny Nigerian chic. Maybe it’s because of their indigenous delights. Fufu and strange varieties of beef which made me miss sukuma wiki and ugali. Call girls are in plenty too. You can get the skill-less cheap ones lingering outside the clubs or you can order escort services to your apartment or room by dialing the phone numbers on club posters. That’s what the ogas at the top do.
And 96 percent of the music played in clubs is all Nigerian. That’s how they love themselves. I didn’t hear a single song from any other African country apart from a little American music the rest was all Wizkid, P-Square, Iyanya, Tiwa Savage, Davido and all the other top guns. No wonder music is now considered an employment opportunity by many young Nigerians
Nothing would be complete without me talking about beer. Just like fuel, alcohol is also cheap in Nigeria. A bottle of Johnny Walker lack Label goes for about 1800 Naira only. Which when converted to Kenyan money amounts to about 900 Kenyan shillings. Our brodas drink beer like the juice and the effects? Dancing like remote controlled toys and sweating like sprinklers. The heat in Lagos is crazy oooooh. I go tell you dear brodas.
The men are playboys with no exceptions. Everywhere you look, you see a guy smiling to a chic and throwing vibe words. Although the Nigerian sistos were cozying up to us, we were all uncertain about engaging in chips funga activities. Omojowa had killed our ‘getting laid’ morale by giving us tales about women turning into chicken in hotel rooms. So we just had to put on our chill gear. Better safe than sorry right? One of us still took the risk though and he was glad to wake up the following morning with his Ozokwor bish still human and all his tools still in their right places
All in all, Lagos has a relaxed, hedonistic air, and prides itself on being Kenya-friendly and outgoing. Will I go back when another opportunity beckons? Definitely. Ah go catch up to di ting

Larry Madowo Blasts Gloria Muliro’s Ex-Husband. Find Out Why
Gloria Muliro, the sensational gospel singer, was embroiled in a marital saga that led to the infamous separation with her husband of five years, Pastor Eric Omba.
Omba, a Congolese man who is also a music producer, was accused of infidelity and lack of respect for his marriage with the veteran singer. prompting the latter to walk away in a bitter separation.
The preacher made frantic efforts through his facebook page to reach out to Gloria but all this went in vain as the singer chose to go quiet.
This is why NTV’s Larry Madowo has taken issue with Pastor Omba.
Larry wonders if Gloria had switched off her phone or she had changed her contacts, prompting the producer to go to the social media to find his wife.
Larry adds that Gloria made the most prudent thing to remain silent even after what Omba did, and that issues cannot be solved through Facebook.
Larry said this through his article on his column in the Nation.
Caroline Mutoko Issues a Stern Warning To KTN, Citizen TV And NTV. See Details
Leading television stations, Citizen TV, KTN and NTV have been warned against trying to block change in the country. Radio queen, Caroline Mutoko issued her warning saying the three will fail in their bid to drag the country backwards.
Even though she never mentioned Citizen TV, KTN or NTV, one thing clear, Caroline was talking about the three when she issued her warning.
The three television stations have been on the forefront to block analogue switch off in the country. They have also filed a petition in court seeking to stop GOTv from distributing their signals.
With that in mind, Caroline went on the offensive saying there will be a tyranny of success with digital migration.
“For the media, whether for us in radio, print and television, what digital migration is doing is disrupting what we always know and we are unhappy. The sad thing about our unhappiness is number one; it’s gonna happen. The sooner we deal with that reality the better. Caroline explained.
She further said those trying to stop digital migration were arrogant and were only doing so for their own benefits and not the audiences’.
“Television is not three stations and schedules that works in your favor. Television is what I want, when I want it, how I want it as long as I want it and that’s what digital migration brings to everybody’s home. It’s that simple” explained Caroline.
She went on to illustrate how digital migration would benefit everyone with its diverse content. Check out Caroline explaining her point in the video below:

Daily Nation Apologizes To The Kenyatta Family..
In a statement earlier today the Daily Nation has offered an apology to the Kenyatta Family for “causing harm” to the family with land-saga insinuations that may have tarnished the name of the first family.
It had been reported earlier on that the Kenyatta Family was behind a major land heist at the coast. The newest release has trashed this as a baseless allegation and offered an apology to the Kenyatta family:

Leaked:Kalekye Mumo, Gerald Langiri and Lizz Njaga Spotted in a Hot Steamy Session Together
Hands down, this is the movie that is going to change the waning film industry in Kenya. An industry that has over the years been plagued by substandard films that Kenyans don’t really watch anyway. Alex Konstantaras, the greek god, wrote the script of one of the baddest movies in Kenyan History, Fundimentals.
I got the chance to watch a snip of the movie yesterday, it was the perfect blend of acting and comedy, the proper infusion of Comedy in a setting that we can all relate to. A film that will be second to none, If this doesn’t put us on the map, then nothing will lest you think I’m blowing too much horn, Here is the insight:-
Gerald Langiri (as Joseph) and his protege Charlie Karumi (as Moses) are hands down the best fundi’s in Kinoo, their unorthodox methods notwithstanding. They are a jack of all trades, repairing broken household Items untill a multi-national company comes into operation, throwing their whole business into Jeopardy.
Faced with the looming calamity, Gerald and his protege change their tactics, they no longer repair broken items, they repair broken marriages by the day, while the husbands are busy working in the offices ,Gerald offers solace and sex for the desolate housewives who would sell their souls to Lucifer for a little “lungula”- The best part is that gets paid for it.
Unbeknownst to Langiri, when he is busy repairing broken sex, his protege is getting his fair share of the deal too. The plots runs with the two almost getting busted by the husbands (of course with hilarious escapes)
The film has been filmed the Award winning D.O.P John Wambugu, Written and directed by the Greek god, Alex Konstantaras. It stars: Gerald Langiri,Charlie Karumi, Florence Nduta, Lizz Njagah,Kalekye Mumo, Neomi Nga’ng’a, Veronica Waceke,Ruth Maingi, Milkah Ndegwa and Ojiambo Ainea.
On a Scale Of 10, The Movie Rating is a 9!
Make your way for the Official premiere on 12th February 2015 6 p.m at the 20th Century Plaza in the CBD and on 13th February 7p.m at the Great opening , Prestige Plaza,Planet Media Cinemas.
On 14th It will be at 2 hours of Sunset at the Ngong Racecourse.
Juacali Caught Out Hanging Out With a Certain Beautiful Lass. Find Out Who She Is and What Juacali has Been Upto
We probably know him as the king of genge having propelled this genre to immeasurable heights while maintaining great tenacity and consistency while at it. Not many Kenyan artists surpass the one hit wonder phase but more than 10 years down the line, he’s still doing it.
He has however maintained a low profile for a while now and thus when we stumbled upon this recent photo, we couldn’t help but wonder who this fine lass he was hanging out with was. Maybe she was reason he had stepped away from the music scene for a while; he was expanding his throne and all if you know what I mean.
As we came to find out from Mseto EA however, the said lass was a video vixen in his upcoming smashing hit Karibu Nairobi and not his new found hubby. Apparently the long break was intended to replenish and prepare us for yet another big hit. He is still on his A game and you can catch him at the Carnivore grounds from 10Am to 6PM this coming Saturday.
In an eclectic event dubbed SportPesa Festival, Juacali will be looking to showcasing his stage prowess alongside other greats in the likes of Nameless, Wyre, Size 8, Stella Mwangi (STL) who together with younger cats in the likes of Kristoff and Size 8 will be charged with bringing Nairobi to life as it looks forward to wish away the Nairobi blues.
Apart from the exciting performances, there will also be great musical fusions from DJ’s Pierra Makena, Joe Mfalme, Crème De La Crème and Mo soon to be followed by heartfelt comedy sessions from Jalang’o and Eric Omondi. And yes, your stomachs will also be well taken care of with scrumptious servings from the Carnivore restaurant.
And it’s so easy to be part of all this. All you have to do is possess a SportPesa account and be part of those people who have already placed their bets. Then you’ll be required to send a short message, “FESTIVAL” to 79079. From there you’ll be entered into a draw and once picked, you’ll receive a confirmation message confirming that indeed you have won. A second message containing a unique ticket number will be sent to you as the festival nears.
And don’t worry even though you’re a first participant. All you have to do is send “FESTIVAL” to 79079 where you will receive a message with the necessary instructions. And here is the fun part; your ticket allows two people to enter so you can surprise your spouse, friend or even family member. Just make sure they are of legal age.
Log into Facebook and search Sportpesa festival or twitter @sportpesafest for more information.

The Star’s Oliver Mathenge Shows The Cold Blood Running Among Journalists In Kenya
Normally, and in most cases, birds of the same feather are believed to flock together, and so they can easily be identified.
However, Kenyan journalists who can be equated to be birds of the same feather, professionally, are defying this very common phrase as they seem not to flock together.
This comes thanks to the digital migration saga that has rocked this country over months now.
Kenya is expected to be the second country in Africa after South Africa to shift from analogue broadcasting to digital broadcasting.
However, the manner in which the Communication Authority of Kenya has handled the whole issue of digital migration has not gone down well with some media houses in the country, especially the three major ones: Standard Group, Nation Media Group and Royal Media Services.
This has prompted court battles with the latest being the CA nullifying licences awarded to the three media houses over what they say was a misleading advertisement that discouraged viewers from buying GoTV and Startimes set top boxes.
Even as other journalists stand with others in this otherwise sour saga that will derail development in the country, one Oliver Mathenge is swimming the other way as he bashes the three media houses for refusing to go digital.
Through his tweets, Mathenge publicly loves at them and says that they are lying to Kenyans.
This is what the writer tweeted:
When I said they were misinforming Kenyans on #DigitalMigration, they almost skinned me alive. Sasa ona.
BTW, there are over 40 TV stations in Kenya. In any other industry, a group of three would have been called a cartel. #DigitalMigration
@Olez: Poor media houses. Even the viewers they claim to champion for don’t believe them…”
But why has NMG adopted this habit of illustrating their tweets with suggestive photos?
Well, this only serves to indicate the relationship that exists among journalists in Kenya.
It is a sour one and full of competition.

Widow To Late Gospel Singer Kaberere Narrates The Horrifying Experiences She Has Had Since The Demise Of Her Husband
The most disheartening thing that happens to most of us is losing our loved ones. It really renders everything impossible when we lose people who mean so much to our lives, financially, socially or mentally.
This is the very same situation Njeri Kaberere, widow to the late Gospel singer Kaberere, has been in since the demise of her loving husband.
Njeri has narrated the horrifying moments she has had over the period she has missed her husband.

It was in April last year when the sudden demise of the celebrated singer, Kaberere, happened.
According to Njeri, she vividly remembers the last moments she shared with her husband before he met his sudden death.
It was on a Sunday after church that Kaberere offered to take their car to the car-wash. This is where the singer would meet his death.
Then, Njeri was heavily pregnant for her second child, Njoki.
Kaberere, it was said, was killed by an electric shock.

On the burial day, NJeri gave birth to her second child, Njoki. She says that she thanks God the whole process had no complications.
However, what moves most is the life the widow has faced after the demise of her husband. She says that Kaberere was all that she had. And after his demise, life has not been the same with her two children, Ulani and Njoki.
They miss their father. She misses her husband, dearly.
She, however, says that she finds solace in the Lord, whom she says has enabled her to learn to celebrated the death of her husband, and not mourn it.
Njeri was speaking to Eve Magazine.
CABU GAH DIARIES: Forget The Larry Madowo Debacle,Here Are 10 Of The Most Dramatic Live Television Interviews Ever! Number 2 Is Absolutely Worth The Watch.
Sunday night( Jan.25th) Larry Madowo, the ubiquitous NTV news anchor/reporter and tabloid show host hosted 2 legislators on the 9pm News Briefing to quiz them on issues surrounding a dramatic video of them swearing and cursing and threatening weigh-bridge staff in Gilgil.
The legislators,as we all know, were the feisty Nandi Hills MP,Alfred Keter and the shadowy URP Nominated Mp,ummm,I deliberately forget her very unmemorable name.
Keter and his female accomplice sat on one side of the desk…. While on the other side, sat a very judgmental and condescending Larry Madowo.
Questions started flying off Madowo’s fiery mouth and even before they were duly answered, yet more questions were thrown around, and more and more and more. And,ummmm, more.
It quickly degenerated into a raucous shouting match. Madowo’s voice being the highest. And Keter and his female associate having trouble even hearing their own selves.
Larry, effectively, turned the interview from what SHOULD have been a civil,TV grilling to a cacophonous yelling and tongue-lash. He treated his HONORABLE guests like little rascals. And incessantly berated them for their supposed crimes.
It was a crappy mess. And a stinking shame of an interview.
I am even surprised they sat through it to the end. In other Worlds, the guest would have walked away 68 seconds into the damn interview. Leaving Larry with so much egg on his face.
And to show You just how patient, even with their swearing and cuss words,Keter and,Yes I remember her name now,Birdi were,Here are 10 of the MOST DRAMATIC LIVE TELEVISION INTERVIEWS EVER.
These guests got raving mad, swore on air, flipped at their hosts, blew up in a blistering rage, started a full physical fight and even walked OUT of the goddam interview!
Larry’s NTV fiasco ain’t even shit…Here’s where it all began,Baby.
1. Number 1 goes to these chaps on an Egyptian TV Channel. One of the chubby fellows on the show gets so irate he threatens to throw a shoe at his opponent. But sensing a shoe isn’t big enough anyway,he decides,Fuck It,I am throwing a damn chair at You! And he did exactly that! And,in no time,it all degenerated into a chair-hurling contest. The female host tried stopping them. It didn’t help. Other TV employees moved in…still,no help. Whoa! Absolutely epic.
{youtube}4R39jYtH1Sk{/youtube}
2. Number 2 goes to a bunch of MPs from Jordan. One Member of the Jordanian parliament, Mohammed Shawabkeh, stunned his opponent, former lawmaker and political activist Mansour Murad when he PULLED OUT A GUN during a heated argument on live TV.
The incident occurred during a political debate on Jordanian satellite channel Gosat. Shawabkeh justified his actions to Jordanian news agency,Gerasa News,by saying that Murad started attacking members of the Jordanian government, calling them“corrupt parasites.”
The argument got pretty heated when Murad cursed Shawabkeh’s father, which prompted the latter to throw his shoe at him. And it didn’t end there…More things were thrown around. And,finally,a loaded gun was drawn. Ready to shoot!! And the fight was ON! Boom Boom Twaf!!! We’re on TV,Baby!
{youtube}uAELegUaFhg{/youtube}
3. Number 3 goes to a bunch of Lebanese journalists who, after much disagreement over God-knows-what,decided to square it off physically. And square they did. The host tried asking them to shake hands. But it was all in vain. Things got so bad that a full brawl erupted. One of them doused his opponent in cold glass water…On Live Television, Brother! Watch them fight like savages. And Welcome to the jungle!
{youtube}woFFVlNhCIM{/youtube}
4. Number 4 goes to yet another bunch of temperamental Pakistani politicians who, after failing to have any sort of agreement on whatever topic they must have been passionately debating over, decided to end the whole thing in style. Al-qaeda style. And,predictably,a fight broke out. It all started with a real, real noisy argument. And then one guy, pissed to death, threw a glass of water at the host! Prompting him to shoot up and go fight him. Long Live Bin Laden!
{youtube}Q3wrdehP1aU{/youtube}
5. Number 5 goes to an American Republican politician Ron Paul. On an CNN interview with Gloria Borger, who kept pestering him with questions about some racist newsletters which were sent in Paul’s name some 20 years ago,Paul got so pissed off by the Gloria bringing such an oooooooold story up that he not only yanked the mic off him,but also walks away from the studio. Pissed like a Keter at a weighbridge.
{youtube}9lJxCMjAsjc{/youtube}
6. Number 6 goes to Conservative American TV host Bill O’ Reilly and another American TV personality Geraldo Rivera. Geraldo,a clear Obama fan,was getting pissed off that O’Reilly,a conservative Republican, was disrespectful to Prezzo Barack Obama. Geraldo wanted Obama to be treated with respect. But O’Reilly had other ideas, screaming,”No way! He’s NOT A KING! He has NO majesty!” Well,Geraldo got real mad at O’Reilly. And a very very very heated argument went down.
{youtube}FhwwbNA3hjg{/youtube}
7. Number 7 goes to British Journalist and former CNN talk show host,Piers Morgan who, after quite a heated debate with a guest over American Gun Control laws, got so friggin mad and pissed off that, for failure to agree with his guest, let his temper get the better of him and ended up throwing his notes towards his guest! Angry as hell! Where is a gun when You need one!!?
{youtube}Q2btKEnfuA4{/youtube}
8. Number 8 goes to famous American TV staple Whoopi Goldberg and her fellow host Joy Baher. Aaaaaand,Mr. O’Reilly, once again, pops his empty head in this list. Now,Whoopi and Joy had hosted O’Reilly on their show “The View” to quiz him on a couple national issues. Things, however, got nasty when O’Reilly declared that he was opposed to an Islamic institution that Obama was planning to erect in Manhattan,America.
O’Reilly’s reasoning was that Muslims killed over 2,000 Americans in that dastardly 9/11 attack. And therefore deserved NO Islamic institution built for them in America. Well,Joy and Whoopi disagreed with him. And things got so hot that Joy shot up and pranced out of the studio! Live on TV! Whoopi, not to be outdone, did the same! Leaving the LIVE TV audience screaming and shouting and cheering wildly. Quite a watch!
{youtube}KvalfQY89z8{/youtube}
9. Number 9 goes to an American Pornographic Actress(whose probably dead by now) named Seka. Yes,just Seka. What a turn-on! Anyway, now Miss Seka had been invited on TV to talk about, errm, whatever is it she did for a living. Her host, however, was another judgmental piece of crap who wouldn’t let her talk, express herself or even be proud of her trade. He berated her and ridiculed her and disrespected her so much so that,at an opportune time,Seka rose up and angrily stomped away from the studio! Never to look back! Ever! Not unless the director yells “Take 2” …Oh,wait….
{youtube}lWaxObCxiwM{/youtube}
10. Aaaaaand finally,to close down our very entertaining list,we bring back the good guys in Egypt. Again. And this time,on MEMRI-TV,A bunch of guests and hosts and whatnot got so enraged by their opposer’s dissenting views that they decided that the only way this whole debate could come to an abrupt close is if violence would be employed. And,quickly, violence was employed. Water bottles were thrown allover the place. And tempers flew like 66 jets on an American Independence parade. You gotta love the sound of a bunch of angry Arabs arguing! Its the romance of the sadists. Pure thrill. Enjoy. And to propmt You,the drama starts at the 4.50 mark.
{youtube}m3wTaS9L4EY{/youtube}
So,if You thought Larry had acted out of step,or that he had gone too far,and acted too unprofessional, well, these videos are proof that nothing can stop humans from being irredeemably stupid. And angry. And impatient. And hyper-active.
Larry’s was just child play. Egyptians know how to switch on the heat on a TV show!
Long Live Mubarak!!!

Citizen TV’s Janet Mbugua Publicly Put On The Spot Over Langata Land Grabbing Scandal
Last night, Janet Mbugua faced a team of “intellectuals” who made her work rather difficult to execute.
The hunter becomes the hunted! That was what transpired yester night on Citizen TV’s Monday Special when Janet Mbugua hosted a group of children leaders to discuss the Kenya they want.
Typically, an interviewer would expect to have an easy time when interviewing children. I mean they are not well informed and just naïve. Right? Totally wrong, one thing for sure, NEVER underestimate what those little ones can do.
The topic on the show ranged from Langata land grabbing saga to teachers’ strike. The children were asked to chip in their views regarding the same.
Janet Mbugua was put on the spot by the very children she was interviewing. She was caught off guard a couple of time when children actually turned the table to start asking her questions.
One child defended the action of his colleagues at Langata primary saying circumstances forced them to act so.
“I don’t support the way they resolved it but we as children we are ready to fight back when our rights are violated” the child uttered.
On teachers’ strike, the children condemned their tutors’ action of skipping work saying they were denying them their right to education.
“Janet Mbugua let me ask you. Imagine if you were denied education, would you be here today?” Patricia Kamene a child representing children with special needs asked.
To cut the long story short, check out the full conversation below:

Kenyan Photographer Bags Major Award In Lagos, Nigeria
The past weekend came with goodies yet again for Kenyans who had traveled all the way to Lagos, Nigeria, after being nominated for various awards in the famous Social Media Africa Awards.
Among those nominated in the list and who managed to make it to Lagos is Ghafla Kenya’s Philip Etemesi, social media guru Xtian Dela and photographer Ben Kiruthi.
The three Kenyans faced competition from other nominees from across Africa but as fate is, the award for the blogger of the year came back to Kenya after Ben Kiruthi scooped it.
The photographer was overjoyed by the massive win and thanked all Kenyans who participated in the voting process.
Above all, Kiruthi was grateful to God who enabled him bag the award.

Ben Kiruthi after bagging the award…
Sauti Sol Spotted On a Matatu Plying Ngong Road Route (Photo)
Kenya’s most accomplished musicians raised eyebrows when they were seen on a red Ngong bound matatu.
Vehicles have long been used to measure one’s level of success in Kenya. Own one and you will definitely be regarded as having made it in life.
Celebrities are widely expected to own high-end automobiles. Even so, some are still using public transport. Sauti Sol is only but a few celebrities who were seen on matatus.
First things first, I am no longer talking about owning rides. I am now talking about common street culture or perhaps art.
Yes! For celebs to measure their level of music penetration and acceptance in this city, graffiti on matatus is the gauging tool.
Sauti Sol has one on a matatu plying Ngong route. Upon learning they have been painted on a matatu, Sauti Sol sent their appreciation for the special honor.
