Some people often work themselves into a bubbling fit of rage at the mere mention of some celebrity names but Julie Gichuru is among the lucky few who receive boundless love. She is Kenya’s sweetheart, the good wife and the good mother.

But just like all of us, this anchor has received her won share of thistles. In a poem titled Ludicrous Ridicule aka Heaven Kiss. Julie Gichuru opens up like never before

She writes:

They’ve called me many things
Some of which my heart embraced,
They hissed ‘Grandma’ and I was stunned,
For tis such a blessed state!

They called me a tribalist; me?
Really, such a cheek!
I’ve no time for human boxes,
Tis character I seek.

They attacked my Asian heritage
‘Pakistani woman’ they hissed at me!
I’m the child of an Afr-Asian marriage,
This blood runs deep, indeed!

But just like any strong woman, Julie takes it all in a stride saying that :

My soul, like the African Savanah
Roams far and wild and free;
My blood’s like the Asian tiger
Fiery & passionate for all to see.

If you are an ardent fan of Ebru TV, I am sure you have noticed one of their news anchors Kamene Goro. She is really hard to miss, she is very pretty, seems like someone with a great personality, and her curves. Her curves are the truth #nohomo.

But Team Mafisi will be disappointed to know that Kamene is taken and her beau is none other than Coco D Rasta,a radio presenter with Hot 96

 and by the look of things, the two are in deep.

If you thought it is only Kenya that Kenyans are doing big in businesses and real estate investments, you are in for a rude shock.

In Botswana, one George Onyancha is reaping big from his investment in real estate.

The Kenyan has massive apartments which he earns colossal amounts of money from, and his life has not been the same.

This perhaps explains why celebrated and veteran journalist Alex Chamwada traveled all the way to Gaborone, Botswana, to witness what this hardworking Kenyan has done.

Chamwada was quick to share with his fans what he saw down in Botswana.

It’s been a little bit quite at the Sonko forte, zero drama, that was until yesterday.

This was after Sonko stormed in to City Hall accompanied by hordes of groveling supporters .The reason for the dramatic entry in to City Hall was because of the prevalent corruption at city hall.

Sonko then proceeded to produce documents to support his claim that Sh252 million had been misappropriated during Kidero’s tenure as Nairobi’s Governor. The two have not been known to see eye to eye with Kidero even jotting down a scathing article about Sonko on one of the local dailies.

Kidero was not left behind as he also showed up with his clique of supporters which resulted to a lot of exchange of insults and taunts between the two camps. Emotions ran high and trucks of anti-riot police deployed to prevent the already hot-blooded situation from exploding.

Many at times we take for granted our commute from work to our places of abode, forgetting that we are among the fortunate that make their way back to our homes after a long day of work.

Some never make it back such as Homa Bay County acting ODM Chairman Mrs. Monica Amolo who unfortunately passed away when returning home from a massive senate campaign rally  in Homabay town.

Mrs. Amolo lost her life alongside her four companions in a road accident at Ongeng market along Homa Bay-Ndhiwa road. Messages of condolences are already streaming in on Twitter and i will sample a few:

Etemesi is going to spend Valentine’s Day at Kenya’s most expensive lodge – The Villa Rosa Kempinski. You can take a moment and allow that to sink in. Breathe in and breathe out.

Who could have thought it would ever happen? Who could have thought that me, a humble Luhya who loves ugali mzito and chicken could spend love’s golden day in a suite fit for the Duke of Yorkshire? In a bathtub that can fit two Rick Rosses and a bed that can accommodate King Solomon with all his concubines. If I am not the luckiest guy on earth, then tell me who is.

Lazima. I mean, that’s obvious isn’t it? I’m still debating on whether to take Njeri, the talkative chic from Embakasi or the shy girl Karen, the chic who shares a name with the mtaa in which she lives. Or maybe I should take AKinyi, she’s always been loyal to me. But I’m pretty sure that I can get a foursome with Huddah, Vera and Corazon if I mention 2.3 million. All in all, it’ll come down to who’s the most obedient. The lucky lady to accompany me will have to be the most loyal. The chic who’ll be willing to say “Yes Papa” when I say “Come here darling.” But the point is, shuma lazima ilale ndani

Of course I have to take selfies and videos for that matter. I have to post them all on Instagram and Facebook so that all those people who thought I would never amount to something can see. I have to put my life in their faces so that they can feel a waru in their throats. And in all those photos I’ll be wearing an evil laugh on my face, clutching on a vast tumbler of whisky and puffing on a cigar from Havanna Cuba. I’ll be laughing the way mafia don John Goti used to laugh before sticking his victims’ heads into vats of sulphuric acid.

This is a moment that should be well documented. It’s a moment for the history books. A moment for G.H.C, social studies and literature. A moment that will be incorporated into tales for my grandchildren years from now

Collect souvenirs

As a typical Kenyan, I have to take souvenirs. I have to carry all the soaps and lotions from the hotel room when I check out of my room. I’ll take everything including the watchman’s number. You can call it ‘sufficient utilization of resources’ or ‘collection of artifacts.’

So ladies and gentlemen, this is the point where I come back to reality. This is the point where I stop playing with you all. Thank you for taking a ride in my fantasy trip. Unless I do a harambee or sell illegal copies of Fifty Shades of Gray, there’s no way I am going to Kempinsky. This is just my ‘suffere’s dream.’ But I’ll still pass by Mama Shiro’s place and buy fries for one of my admirers. Then we’ll go to my place and watch two episodes of Banshee and that’s it. Romance ni wewe na watu wenyu.

The Langata Primary School saga is still very fresh amidst us. What is so funny, though, is the fact that Kenyans are quickly shifting their focus from the most important thing, the land grabbers, to what seems like less important, trading insults and accusations.

Ok, let us meanwhile dwell on this latest developments.

A video emerged yesterday showing that it was actually the activists who tear-gassed the Langata Primary School kids, with the director of Digital Communication in the Office of the President, Dennis Itumbi, sharing the video on his timeline.

Boniface Mwangi has hit back with his own video showing police throwing several teargas canisters at the kids.

And as if that is not enough, Itumbi has now shared the teargas canisters that Boniface gave him during their meeting at the JKL show, calling him and his counterparts activists of doom.

Huddah Monroe is known for her dominance on social media which can be attributed to releasing an endless slew of sexy shots on Instagram.

And Eric Omondi recognizes her social media game and that is why he employed her for the hyping of an upcoming event at the picturesque Safari Park.

While most people would prefer to seal off their deals with a handshake, Huddah Monroe leaned in and Eric Omondi slapped a wet, though brief one on her lips.

Yesterday saw a well edited video emerge showing how activists tear-gassed Langata Primary School kids during the recently held demonstrations aimed at reclaiming the school’s grabbed play ground, all to frame the otherwise ‘innocent’ police officers.

Boniface Mwangi, the lead activist and his counterparts came under heavy scrutiny and criticism after being implicated for the same.

Ghafla Kenya made efforts and recahed out to Boniface who denied the allegations and said it is just a government project to taint the name of the activists whose aim was to fight the perennial land grabbing problem that has rocked Kenya.

And now in what is seen as a self defense from the activists, Boniface Mwangi has released a video showing that indeed it was the police who hurled several teargas canisters to the kids, unlike the theory that the government is selling to the Kenyans.

Boniface says that this is just but a diversionary tactic aimed at making Kenyans forget the important national issues like the murder of Kabete MP George Muchai.

It was in May 2011, a sunny morning in the republic, when the country woke up to disturbing and heartbreaking news that Kenya’s renowned marathoner Samuel Wanjiru was dead.

Everyone was taken aback by this news as Wanjiru was one of the many athletes who had made Kenya proud in the world of athletics, thanks to his genius in the Beijing Olympic Marathon in 2008.

Wanjiru held the record as the best marathoner, but his prowess in the track was cut short by an untimely demise that shook the country to the core.

Police embarked on investigating what led to the death of the marathon amid wrangles and squabbles from the deceased’s family, especially his mother Hannah Wanjiru and his wife Triza Njeri.

The police finally concluded that Samwel killed himself after jumping from the balcony of his storey building in Nyahururu.

His mother was not satisfied because she believed her son was killed. She went to court to compel the government to carry out investigations into the death of the marathoner.

A postmortem was carried out on Wanjiru’s remains and four years down the line, former government pathologist, Moses Njue, who carried out the autopsy has told a panel investigating the demise that indeed Samuel was killed, contrary to what the police had said early.

The shocking revelations reveal that Wanjiru was hit with a blunt object at the back of his neck and that his balcony was not tall enough to lead to his death.

These fresh revelations are likely to see the case take a new dimension to unravel the demise of the revered marathoner.

His wife Triza had said that Samuel fell from the balcony of their bungalow in Nyahururu, dying instantly.

(CNN)For a second year in a row, Kenya’s busy capital city of Nairobi has been named the most intelligent city in Africa — failing, however, to make it to the world’s top seven finalists.

 In a survey conducted annually by the Intelligent community forum, Nairobi was ranked first in Africa for its efforts in creating healthy business relations within the city, relations which are geared at making the economy of the country grow in leaps. The forum went on to cite that the best place to invest  your monies in Africa was Nairobi as it is clearly more advanced technologically and intellectually than any other city in Africa. 

So as you walk down the streets today, with a smirk on your face, remember to smile, you are working in the most intelligent of African cities.

About a month ago, our TVs were literally on fire with news that the Kenya Police had tear gassed Children.

And we actually saw the smoke attack the senses of the protesting kids. Today another video has emerged to indicate that the police are not the only culprits in the tear gassing incident. We see a supposed activist lurking around the scene, looking really fidgety then hurling a teargas canister at the kids. The said canister had been fired earlier by an unknown person as it’s not indicated in the video.

There is a lot of finger pointing So who do you think is the guilty party here?

The Kenya Film Classification Board has once again swooped in and has restricted a very steamy movie that has had people talking for a while.

The movie “50 Shades of Grey” was adopted from a popular book by the same title.

After The American Family Association board protested it citing that the movie worked at “creating controversy for its graphic sexual nature, promotion of BDSM, and scenes that degrade women,” as it “borders on pornography and glamorizes abuse.”

Now the KFCB has joined the campaign against it and has restricted and should not be screened or distributed to the public:

The Board wishes to inform the public, film operators and stakeholders that the film, 50 Shades of Grey has been RESTRICTED. It should not be screened or distributed to the public.
