Through his Facebook account, Isaiah Mboe Maghanga has shared the elegant photos of Victoria Rubadiri in nice dresses looking not only stunning but also inviting and adorably presentable.

But why has Victoria taken these photos?

Larry Madowo, Victoria’s colleague at NTV, had early hinted that Victoria is in line for something fresh but could not reveal whether it is on NTV or somewhere else. He posted:

And now Mboe has opened doors for further speculation that Victoria could be starting something fresh on NTV with these photos and the caption below them.

Kenyan fans will certainly be pleased to know that the ‘African Queen’ crooner in our capital city, Nairobi.

Innocent Ujah Idibia, better known by his stage name 2face Idibia is in town for this year’s edition of Coke Studio Africa which is currently in its  3rd season .He is among the many international and local  artistes expected to perform in the country including Avril, Elani, Vanessa Mdee and Davido.

The new season will feature artists from Nigeria, Mozambique, Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania and for the first time the artists will collaborate in a unique format of mash-ups – the latest trend in the global music industry.

 

Yesterday Ghafla! Kenya told you that President Uhuru had invited renowned scholar and author Prof. Ngugi Wa Thiong’o to State House years after Moi sent him into exile.

Ngugi has endured a torrid yet glittering career in his life ever since he realized his desire and talent in writing.

His literary works angered Moi in 1977 who ordered Ngugi’s arrest and a 1 year detention where he was tortured after publishing the book ‘I Will Marry When I Want.’

Upon his release, Ngugi fled to the US for fear of being killed by the Moi regime and vowed never to come back unless Moi was out of office as President of Kenya.

And Indeed he lived up to his word as he stayed in exile for 22 years and came back when Kibaki took over from Moi.

But then Kenya was the same even then. When he returned in 2004, he was attacked, robbed and his wife sexually assaulted by bandits in the house he was staying in Nairobi.

Ngugi left the country and only returned this year, 50 years after publishing his first book, Weep Not, Child.

And it was yesterday that Ngugi made his stop at State House for the first time, meeting President Uhuru who told him:

Former Tusker Project Fame (TPF) controversial judge, Ian Mbugua, has raised a red flag after attempts were made on his life.

Judge Ian has attracted hate and admiration almost on an equal footing for his utter display of shrewdness while executing his duties.

The judge is widely known for his zero tolerance stand on mediocrity. Ian is the kind of person who has the audacity to tell ‘underperformers’ to their face they are ‘pathetic.’ (A term that was synonymous with him during his stint at TPF.)

Huddah thinks she’s so smart but the truth is, wisdom and her are miles apart. The socialite is now claiming to have found the love of her life. She claims to have a boyfriend but we are not buying it.  Huddah is probably bullshitting. There is a likelihood that this is just a publicity move to make people change their opinions about her. This is just a bluff of horrifically gargantuan proportions. Yes, Huddah just wants people to stop seeing her as a punani-vendor and start seeing her as a good woman capable of handling a relationship.

Sounds familiar? Huddah is applying a copy-cat move. We’ve all seen this before. When Vera was at the peak of her ‘career’ she lied to us how she had an Oga boyfriend whose occupation was ‘Oil tycoon’. Like fools, we believed this for a long time only to later  learn that there was no single oil tycoon loving her but just several tycoons oiling her punani before sticking their tiny tools inside her. The Nigerian love story was only meant to conceal Vera’s true trade.

Last week I wrote ‘Dear Huddah Monroe, Sit Down And Shut Up, You Are Dumb And Your Fundamentals Aren’t Even Juicy Enough. It was nothing personal but just a call for her to quit her nonsense. She seems to have gotten only part of the message

Unless we see her walking down the isle, there’s nothing to believe here, Once a Huddah always a Huddah. You can’t turn a Huddah into a house wife.

A somber mood engulfed a family at the Lang’ata cemetery yesterday when it went to lay to rest their member who had been attacked, devoured and eaten by dogs belonging to the industry he was guarding.

The dogs are said to attack the guard as he manned the industry in Baba Dogo, Nairobi and ate his flesh to death.

According to the residents, this is not the first time the dogs have attacked humans. It is said that the dogs are known to attack anyone, including those who take care of them and sometimes are forced to hide in vehicles to avoid them.

According to the owner of the dogs and the industry Mr. Bilal Dawood, he is surprised by the unfortunate incident which happened to his guard.

Bilal says that all he knows is the dogs only attack when they are provoked but this one was a very unfortunate incident.

He has added that he no longer needs them and has called the relevant authorities to tow them away.

He also added that he will compensate the deceased family accordingly and that he will offset all the burial expenses incurred.

Anne Kiguta confessed to being beaten by her boyfriend while at KTN and had to rely on make-up to cover the marks and had to walk out of the abusive relationship for the sake of her daughter , a move that saw countless women walk out of abusive relationships.

Now Ebru TV’s Michele Kamene Goro comes out with a story of her own, how she was beaten senselessly by her first boyfriend. An event which will forever remain etched in her mind and her skin since the man beat her so bad that he left one eye smaller.

“My boyfriend beat me terribly” she says.

An event she calls her defining moment, her epiphany as she rushed to the police to show him that he shouldn’t do that to people, her or other women.

She says that she now has zero tolerance against violence.

Adelle Onyango is today one of the most common voices on Kenyan radio after first landing the job with 1 FM before moving for greener pastures at the Kiss 100.

She has quickly risen through thick and thin to command a sizeable following both on radio and the social thanks to her skill in presentation and entertainment.

Her involvement in music lately has also helped her reach out to many more people and believe it in a few years to come she shall have joined the league of celebrated radio personalities.

Away from that, Adelle has revealed for once what she did 6 years ago before she joined radio.

Adelle who grew up in America says that she ran a gig she called OPEN MIC, a gig which gave artistes (singers and poets) a platform to showcase their talent.

Seems this lady had started it long ago because this happened six years ago. I mean in 2009.

The Kenyan lawyer has been making headlines lately after he declared his love for the US President’s daughter, Malia Obama, and offered to give her parents cows, goats and sheep as dowry for the beautiful American first daughter.

Felix Kiprono has been up and down, around and about in his quest to marry Malia, a lady who is giving him sleepless nights regardless of the fact that she is yet to turn 18.

The lawyer has vowed never to give up on Malia, despite some Kenyan lady penning him an emotional letter requesting him to ignore Malia and instead marry her because she loves him.

Anne Kioko stunned the country with the offer she made to Felix a week ago, an offer that Felix has since turned down because he loves Malia.

And now Felix has gone an extra mile to do the impossible to lure Malia Obama.

The lawyer has adopted an American accent all in the name of looking American to be closer to Malia than before.

Since making his offer ahead of the US President’s visit to Kenya in July, the American first family is yet to respond even when the news of Felix’s proposal has hit international headlines for weeks.

Sometime late last year, Hollywood jetted into the country to shoot an upcoming series titled ‘Sense8’. The series is now out, complete episodes of season 1.

Sense8 is an American science fiction drama. The series plays a group of people around the world who are suddenly linked mentally, and must find a way to survive being hunted by those who see them as a threat to the world’s order.

The first season consists of 12 episodes is already available for streaming on Netflix.

Sense8 was partly shot in Kenya and it even features Kenyan actors. During its shot in Nairobi in September 2014, motorists using Thika Road were left stranded at Ngara area after Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) closed all roads leading to the scene of the cast.

Once in a while, Larry Madowo jots down a pretty sensible article that makes you think…deeply and enables us to see our faults as Kenyans.

And his latest Front Row Column certainly gave this country a lot to think about. He wrote about the appointment of Ngugi Wa Njoroge as the CBK governor, an issue that has had people squabbling over what they call a ‘tribal appointment’ since Uhuru and Ngugi belong to the same ethnic group.

Those against it have said that Uhuru has favored his kinsmen but those who are more realistic have seen beyond his name and noticed that this guy is qualifies, over qualified even.

The president recently condemned his detractors for not seeing beyond the man’s name saying that he didn’t appoint him based on his ethnicity but his papers. Something that Larry agrees on and calling us bigots for being so tribally inclined that we cannot not see that this guy is qualified.

This is what Larry writes” If you read Dr Patrick Ngugi Njoroge’s resumé, you want to run to the nearest university and register for another degree. To say that the man is learned is to grievously understate his academic achievements.

The Mang’u High School alumnus read economics at the University of Nairobi and took it all the way to Yale, where he earned his doctorate. He has spent the last two decades in the inner sanctum of the International Monetary Fund, looking after the world’s money.

Surely, a man that accomplished is suitably qualified to be the governor of the Central Bank of Kenya. Apparently not, according to tribalists everywhere.”

It’s no secret that since the onset of the digital age; traditional media does not have as much traction as it used to have. 

It can be likened to the fate of the telephone after mobile phones were introduced. Maybe that is why they fought digital migration so ferociously before they realized the futility of it all.

Last Friday, Legendary talk show host, Jeff Koinange, parted with Kes 2 million to avoid a 6 month jail term that he was slapped with by the court.

For starters, Jeff Koinage and businessman Tony Gachoka booked themselves a date with the law after discussing a case involving businessman Jimi Wanjigi, his brother Sani Mbui Wanjigi and the Kwacha Group of Companies on KTN’s Jeff Koinange Live undermining a court order barring them from discussing the same on media.

While Jeff was able to cough out 2 million, his accomplice, businessman Tony Gachoka, somehow couldn’t pay the fine imposed by the court and ended up spending the weekend at Industrial Area Remand Prison.

Even so, Tony had the last laugh. In a new twist of events, the High Court has ordered the immediate release of Tony and the suspension of Sh2 million fine and his imprisonment.

Justice Weldon Korir yesterday directed that the case at the magistrates’ court be put on hold pending the hearing and determination of an appeal against the decision by Principal Magistrate Maisey Chesang.

Arguably Kenya’s finest and oldest scholars, Ngugi wa Thiong’o has endured a torrid yet successful career spanning decades and decades of dedicated writing and literary prowess.

His literary works saw him lock horns with the mighty and powerful in the Late Mzee Jomo Kenyatta and the retired Moi regimes, forcing the scholar to flee the country to America.

Even in exile, Ngugi never stopped writing and specifically in his native Kikuyu language. He would later return to Kenya in 2004 when Moi had retired and Kibaki taken over as President.

His return, however, was not a joyous one as robbers broke into his house in Nairobi, robbed him and sexually assaulted his wife. So bad.

But Ngugi is back in the country once again, half a century after he published his first book Weep Not, Child. And the latest to meet him is President Uhuru Kenyatta who welcomed him to State House early today.

They are part of the coveted clique of Nairobi’s ‘it’ girls and you are likely to find them with a Birkin bag in their arms instead of a kiondo.

But these there put aside their fancy handbags for a good cause. They joined the support system for Soko Bila Waste, an organization created by revered songbird Suzanna Owiyo.

The organization’s goal is ‘sensitizing the public on reducing food waste. It aims at cutting down the food that gets wasted in farms, markets, trans-markets, markets, restaurants, homes and other eateries.

It supports UNEP’s Global Food waste Campaign’ THINK EAT SAVE’, a global food waste campaign launched in 2013.

Aside from Julie, Terryanne and Avril Bernard Ndong, Big Ted and Jeff Koinange have also joined this campaign.
