With the US President only days away from touching down in Kenya, news outlets have continued to strip him making sure the public gets to know every single detail about Potus.
Barack Obama is currently estimated to be worth $ 7M or Kes 716 million. But I bet the figure was way low in 1997 when he decided to pen a letter to High Court in Nairobi to distant himself from his father’s estate.
His dad’s estate was valued at about Kes 410,500 at the time of his death in 1982. Barack Obama Snr’s estate included Kes 55,933, money from a life insurance cover that the listed beneficiaries are yet to claim due to family wrangles.
The family brawl saw the cash remain idle resulting to transfer of the money to Unclaimed Financial Assets Authority (UFAA).
The Obamas have been locked in fierce tussle over who is rightful heir to inherit the fund Obama Senior left behind.
Barack’s name (The US President) was on the list among those who were to benefit from Obama’s life insurance.
Following the unresolved wrangles, Obama decided to distant himself from his father’s estate. Michelle’s hubby wrote a letter to the Kenyan High Court to dissociate his name from any claims he might have on his father’s estate.

A list of 23 poorest countries in the world has been released. According to an analysis by the Global Finance Magazine, 19 of the 23 countries are from Africa.
Based on data from the IMF, the magazine ranked the world’s countries according to their GDP per capita and determined the poorest and richest ones, reports the Business Insider.
The analysis also used a Purchasing Power Parity (PPP) basis, which takes into account the living cost and inflation rates, in order to compare living standards between the different nations.
So where does Kenya fall in this list? Or the better way to put it is, is Kenya in the list of the 23 poorest countries in the world?
Well, according to the list, The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) ranks in as the poorest country in the world based on its GDP per capita over the 2009-2013 period.
Business Insider says With DRC citizens earning on average $US394.25 a year, the country stands in sharp contrast with Qatar — where people earn an average of $US105,091.42.
Following the Democratic Republic of Congo are Zimbabwe, where in 2013 people earned $US589.25 on average, Burundi, where they earn $US648.58 a year and Liberia, where people earn $US716.04 on average.
Afghanistan comes in as the first non-African country in the list. It comes in at 10th place. It is also the first country where the average annual income passes the $US1,000 threshold with $US1072.19.
The other non-African countries on the list of the poorest 23 countries in the world are Nepal, Haiti, and Myanmar.

Babu Owino is one of the scary names amidst many of Nairobians and Kenyans at large. Scary not because he has the ability to bring down Times Tower by himself or blow up Nairobi in 2 minutes. Scary in the manner in which he has managed to amass massive support from the UoN students who believe he is the only genuine leader who lives up to the challenge of facing any difficult situation that may befall them.
This explains why they have elected him as their leader for two consecutive terms, flooring his competitors with landslide wins.
But Babu has never steered clear of controversy. In fact today he remains the most controversial student leader within our confines.
The latest controversy Babu courted was when he sent a letter to the government demanding that US President Barack Obama visits the UoN and addresses students when he comes to Kenya later next week.
In the letter, Babu threatened that a number of UoN students have said they will commit suicide while some other female students promised to urinate in public if Obama doesn’t visit the UoN.
And this is the reason why Prof Makau Mutua, a US-based Kenyan professor who lectures at the Buffalo School of Law in America, is sitting on Babu’s balls.
According to Prof. Makau, Babu Owino is a functionally illiterate student leader. The professor has particularly taken issue with Babu’s grasp of the Queen’s language. He said this after the student leader misspelled the name Barack as Barrack.

Nairobi news reports: “.. Panic gripped Kenya Methodist University (Kemu) in Meru county on Wednesday afternoon when the administration staged a terrorist attack drill ahead of the graduation ceremony that will be held on Saturday.
The Daily Nation correspondent in Meru reports that an unknown number of students and staff were rushed to hospital after they sustained minor injuries in the melee that ensued…”

US Ice hockey clubs, Buffalo Sabres and Columbus Blue Jackets are among the teams battling to sign Oduya to their sides.
The 33-year player is currently a free agent which means he shall be choosing to play for a club that offers the best deal for him.
The ice hockey defenceman is the son of a Kenyan father and a Swedish mother. He boasts of winning several trophies for various clubs he has played for.

The trial of late NTV journalist who was murdered in her residential house in Umoja estate has taken a new twist after High Court issued a warrant of arrest against the deceased’s former househelp.
Sarah Wambui Kabiru was allegedly murdered by her own husband, Moses Otieno Dola, on May 1, 2011 after they were locked in a heated a quarrel.
The suspect is said to have strangled Kabiru by either using his bare hands or a piece cloth before locking her in their bedroom and escaping.
The trial hasn’t concluded whether Dola actually killed his wife or whether there was a second hand at play.
Yesterday, High Court judge, Roselyn Korir issued a warranted of arrest against Eunice Mwangi, a former househelp to Wambui, saying she was a crucial witness in the case.
The High Court Jugde issued the warrant of arrest because Eunice failed to honor an earlier court summon.
She says the former househelp must have been present during the murder of the late NTV journalist and as such she plays a critical role in resolving the case.

You might not have noticed this but Tanzanian heartthrob, Diamond Platnumz, has his eyes set on three Kenyan musicians whom he says he plans to execute special projects with.
Currently Diamond is the most sought after artist from the greater East African region. Parasitic Nigerian musicians dashed in their numbers to drop numerous collabos with him to the extent that the Tanzanian had to lock them off from working with him anymore.
So if the continental star says he has been sniffing around our backyard and only managed to pick up the scent of three Kenyan artists, that’s a something for the mentioned musicians to boast about.
So who are these three Kenyan artists that fell on Diamond’s radar? Top of the list is Kenya’s arguably richest singer, Jaguar, rapper Collins Majale and Chikuzee.
During an interview with Mseto East Africa’s Mzazi Willy Tuva, Diamond revealed he would like to work with the three Kenyan artists.

His revelation left Kenyans engulfed with wild excitement, fans can’t wait to witness a collabo between Diamond and the three Kenyan musicians.

They say what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger. And disability is not inability. All this can be used to sum up to one thing: determination knows no barrier.
This probably explains why one musician with albinism has defied all odds to land himself in the industry with a thud and gone ahead to prove that his talent is just immeasurable.
Meet Brian Onsomu who goes by the stage name Brax and a look at him will deceive you that this is a quiet boy who is introverted, probably because of his condition.
But Brax is not your ordinary guy. His talent in singing should be everyone’s envy. The boy is talented to the maximum.
His latest release tells it all. Brax did a brand new video which is already being received very well amongst many Kenyans.
The video goes by the name Ntengere, a Kisii word meaning Dance for Me. The video is a blend of Swahili, English and Ekegusii, something that makes the song sound like it just dropped from Abuja.
The video itself is no disappointment. This is definitely a club banger. No doubt about it.
This is one of those talents that every established artiste would want to collaborate with. Brax has an edge over many artistes not because he is an albino but because of the talent he harbours which just needs nurturing.
This is not the first time he has hit the studios to do a captivating song. Early this year he was once again in the headlines with another captivating jam.

Willy Paul Msafi and Kevin Bahati are two gospel wonder kids in the Kenyan industry today, and perhaps because of their status, one could be forgiven to argue that this is the reason why the two have publicly differed, threatening the relationship they claim to have between them.
The two were embroiled in an altercation early this year when Bahati accused Willy of stealing his songs by colluding with producer Teddy B.
Willy Paul responded by releasing one of the songs he allegedly story from Bahati.
The two have since buried the hatchet and promised to work together as brothers.
All this aside, Tanzanian maestro Diamond Platinumz has discussed the two Kenyan gospel singers. Mnay Kenyans have been wondering if ever Bahati and Willy Paul are going to do a collabo considering that their style of singing is the same.
I believe this is the same reason why Mzazi Willy M Tuva confronted Daimond with the same question. Speaking to him on Radio Citizen’s Mambo Mseto show, Diamond responded by saying that it is a bit difficult for him to do a collabo with the gospel boys because of the religious difference between them.
He said that being a Muslim, he doesn’t want to court controversy by doing a gospel collabo with Bahati and Willy Paul. Instead Daimond says that he would be glad to do a neutral song with the two if at all they have to avoid controversy.

Veteran Vitimbi actor, Mzee Ojwang, will finally be laid to rest hours after the world’s most powerful man departs to Ethiopia.
Mzee Ojwang’s death has been overshadowed by Obama’s historic visit to his father’s land as the seating President of America.

Ojwang will be laid to rest on Tuesday the 28th of July. You can be sure it’s a confirmed date since it was the flamboyant Nairobi Senator, Mike Sonko, who communicated the date.
It is very rare for a lady to open up about the problems she is going through especially when the man they love ditches them after amassing enough wealth that can sustain them on the first lane of life for a long period of time without feeling any pinch.
Such men, I must admit, are rare but when you find them, give them a hard slap on my behalf. How do you dump your girl who stood by and with you when you had nothing just because you’ve started seeing some light at the end of the tunnel?
As you ponder over this, songstress Vivian is out to tell her story. A story that shows how her man dumped her when he started racking in some money which helped him built himself a mansion and buy a classy car. The man is also making frequent appearances on TV these days.
All this is happening in a new video that the songstress released a few hours ago.
I must admit without much ado that Vivian is a talented singer. This is a jam I have been playing all day long in the office because honestly, apart from being an educative one, its production is excellent. I mean the lyrics are awesome and of course her voice complements everything here.
As a constructive critic, I would give Vivian a 9/10 on this one. The tone and rhythm of the song rhyme well. The execution of the content is awesome and above all, you are bound to learn one or two things from this song.
But what she should have improved on is the video. The man in the video is too dormant even though that is what the song is all about.
I feel like he should have done more than just sit and get caressed as Vivian begs him to come back to her life.
I would say that the song is also passing on some unnecessary message. A lady should not beg a man who doesn’t want to be in her life like Vivian wants to tell us. If someone dumps you without considering how important you have been in their life there is no need of begging that person to come back.
All in all, this is a thumbs-up Vivian. An incredible job. Here is the video:
