Has DJ Mo’s sister joined the Repentance and Holiness Church of Prophet Owour? Many think so judging by what she wore!

DJ Mo’s pretty kid sister, Viggy, has attracted the attention of many on social media by what she chose to wear.

Her own brother, DJ Mo, fired the first salvo when he jokingly said people had poor taste for fashion. Mo’s brigade followed suit to start making fun of Viggy’s dress.

The lass had rocked a long white dress that stretched from her shoulders to her feet, only her blue high heels shoes were visible.

Clearly Viggy covered most part of her body because of the chilly weather in the UK. But that couldn’t stop Kenyans on social media from claiming she had joined the Repentance and Holiness Church.

The only Kalenjin musician who could rival Chelele’s popularity in the Kalenjin tribe was Emmy Kosgei, proving just how popular this young lady was.

Her music career that spanned close to a decade was however cut short after she was killed and her lifeless body found at home.Diana’s death had such an impact that she even had a fan in Elgeyo-Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen .

Murkomen took to Facebook to mourn the fallen star writing “It is unfortunate that the life of a young, promising and talented person has been cut short by bloody hands! Even though I have not had a personal encounter with Chelele, I have always found her music to be informative, educative, entertaining and a true reflection of our society.”

Aside from the music, Diana will be remembered as the mother to these two precious girls.

 

Kenyans are Nigerians have once again been exchanging fire and this time round Tecno’s dopest karaoke competition was the reason why the West and the East Africans locked horns.

The #TECNO OwnTheStage hash tag has been trending for quite a while now on Twitter, and continues to trend, following the onstage exploits of the contestants on Africa’s premier karaoke TV contest.

Last Sunday, however, Twitter went gaga with the introduction of two additional hash tags – #KenyansOwnTheStage and #NigeriansOwnTheStage – at around the same time two of the frontrunners for the competition’s $25,000 star prize were battling it out on stage.

The showdown between our darling Pascal and the Nigerian Shaapera was the highpoint of last weekend’s episode of TECNO Own The Stage as both contestants practically brought the house down with their superb rendition of Nico and Vinz’s 2013 award-winning hit, ‘Am I Wrong’.

No one expected anything less from both contestants, in particular the show’s judges – our own Bien and the Nigerian pair of M.I. and Yemi Alade – who ran out of superlatives during their appraisal of the two contestants.

And with a few more weeks to go before the five contestants left on the show get trimmed down to two, M.I. even went as far as predicting that Pascal and Shaapera might likely end up competing in the grand finale; a statement concurred by Bien and Yemi.

It was actually a close contest between Pascal and Shaapera but our boy, expectedly, performed better than the Nigerian as confirmed by all three judges.

But trust Nigerians, they took to Twitter claiming their representative had performed better than Pascal with the hash tag #NigeriansOwnTheStage. This was regardless of the fact that of the six contestants at the start of last Sunday’s show four were Kenyans and only one a Nigerian, with the sixth coming from Tanzania.

Unfortunately, by the end of the show one of our own, Mary was sent packing. But this did not in any way deter Nigerians from claiming their only surviving representative was better than Pascal and our two other representatives, Ramar254 and Sikin.

Yemi, who did not show any bias towards Shaapera in picking Pascal as the winner of their showdown, subsequently displayed the Nigerian in her with a tweet directed at Bien stating that she loved every single contestant on the show but that Bien has got to “agree that #NigeriansOwnTheStage.

Trust Bien, he did not turn the other cheek as he aptly replied: “Hehe not a chance! #KenyansOwnTheStage.

He wasn’t the only one to take a swipe at Yemi’s tweet as the official Twitter handle of Ghafia.co.ke concurred with Bien; a move that prompted a reaction from the show’s host, VimbaiMutinhiri.

It was just one of the numerous reactions from our social media savvy countrymen and women as Kenyans practically took Nigerians to the cleaners with a number of ingenious posts.

And when the Nigerian music sensation, Burna Boy, attempted to save his country’s hurt pride with a tweet of his own, Anto Neo Soul showed just how bad Kenyans can be when the need arises.

It was just one of the numerous tweets posted by the Kenyan singing sensation, who is also a mentor on TECNO Own The Stage, as he almost singlehandedly dealt with Nigerians on Twitter and confirmed why Kenyans owned the stage.

But with Pascal and Shaapera expected to continue their battle for supremacy this weekend when episode 10 of TECNO Own The Stage goes on air, expect the fight to continue as Nigerians attempt to reclaim some lost pride.

Speaking of episode 10, sources say “there may just be something bigger than a battle of nations coming our way.”

Life is quite a challenge and at times a peaceful sailing boat can be quite rocked in the most unexpected of manners. Such is the sad story of the brilliant mind, Simon Nyakundi a former Upper Hill student and student of the University of Nairobi studying Biosystems Engineering.

Family land disputes over land almost killed him and led to his dropping out of school and into the life on the streets. Usually, this would be the end of the story but lucky for him, he met a former schoolmate Shamsudin Abdi who on the third occasion decided to share his story.

The Facebook post was shared and the Upper hill UON and strangers took up action organized a meeting and subsequently helped the young man get a makeover.

Words that indicated that her husband had been violent with her before she was killed in cold blood over the weekend.

News just in is that her husband Eric Musila was arrested earlier today by the flying squad over suspicions that he had killed the singer. Eric was arrested in Bomet County and has now been detained at Central police station Nakuru.

According to investigations, two witnesses saw Chelele in the company of Musila and an unidentified person before she disappeared only to be found dead in her home

This is not Musila’s first brush with the law as he had earlier been accused of killing a land surveyor back in 2012 after suspecting that the man was having an affair with his wife.

In six month time, most popular TV and radio programs will either be shut or airing totally different content in watershed period. Larry Madowo has shared his two cents’ worth regarding the same!

A few days ago, the Communications Authority of Kenya (CA) announced punitive measures for the media in a bid to ‘shield’ underage from hot adult content overflowing on TVs and radios.

Larry Madowo argues CA’s punitive measures will not solve any problem but rather act as fuel for an already raging inferno.

“ It appears the top dogs there have only a basic understanding of the Internet and have, therefore, never heard of the Streisand Effect. If they did, they would Google it but because they don’t, I’ll break it down for them: if you try to censor or restrict a piece of information, it has the unintended consequence of becoming even more available.” Wrote Larry in part.

The NTV anchor argues that instead of CA banning the media from airing content not fit for certain audience, they should have encouraged the media to self regulate.

Larry cited the case of Sauti Sol’s steamy ‘Nishike’ video which media house banned on their own without the government’s directive.

“Many TV stations are already vigilant in this respect and did not air Sauti Sol’s “Nishike”. They didn’t need to, but it still got 1.6 million views on YouTube.”

All in all, what Larry is stressing is that banning doesn’t help if people have thirst for the content that the government is trying to prevent them from accessing.

Mystery death in 4-Star Acacia Hotel in Kisumu left many with questions given that the Korean man who shared a room with the deceased couldn’t be grilled because he is a diplomat who enjoys immunity.

Kisumu’s premier hotel, Acacia Hotel, which is owned by Simba hospitality group which has Villa Rosa Kempinski in Nairobi and Olare Kempinski in the Mara under its umbrella, has received unrivaled media attention following the death of a Ugandan man in one of its rooms.

An unnamed Korean diplomat is said to have booked a room at Acacia Hotel on Sunday 10^thJanuary to spend the night with his Ugandan friend. They were expected to check out by Tuesday morning but Monday death changed things.

The Ugandan national was found lying dead in a pool of blood in the hotel room. The hotel management called doctors who confirmed the death.

The police say the Ugandan died of natural causes even though they didn’t interrogated the Korean national who shared the room with the man.

Police say the Korean enjoys diplomatic immunity adding that they had also ruled out any foul play in the death of the Ugandan.

The deceased had travelled from Uganda whereas the Korean travelled from Nairobi to meet in the lakeside city; according to Nyanza Regional Police Commander Willy Lugusa.

Willy Paul may have called off his wedding pretty much last minute, but all is not lost.

At least when it comes to Gospel weddings. Gospel singer Hey Z recently proposed to his beautiful baby mother Melodie Mercy.

Hey Z proposed to his girlfriend in the midst of his friends Njugush, Jacqueline Matubia, Philip Karanja and Catherine Kamau at a pool in the picturesque Villa Doris hotel in Malindi.

It has been accepted that a man is as handsome as the money he makes.

The exemplification of this has been the pictures doing rounds of Diamond and Churchill long before they became the mega stars earning and spending amounts they would just dreamed off even in their better days.

Well, on that list you can add, Churchill’s Show other comedian Sleepy David. The brother was pretty much rusty…actually scratch that he was really rusty. A few years down the line after fortune smiled on his face.

This brother is now polished and ‘turnt’ up here is the transformation;

Singing trio, Elani, left their fans yearning for more hits after they went silent not releasing more songs when other artists were busy flooding the airwaves with songs.

At one time, Elani, which comprises of Wambui Ngug’I, Bryan Chweya and Maureen Kunga, almost surpassed Sauti Sol as the dopest music group in Kenya.

The trio is known for hits likes ‘Nakupenda’, ‘Milele’, ‘Koo Koo’ among others. They dominated 2014 top to bottom but 2015 came with its challenges.

Elani says they held a mega concert towards the end of 2014 and unfortunately it drained all the cash they had.

“As our year came to an end back in 2014, we decided to put out a concert. We dubbed it ‘Cherry Love’ because we wanted to give you all the love that you had given us. It was one of the most exciting moments of our lives because we prepared for six months, and the concert was mind-blowing. The support that we got from our fans was unthinkable. You came out in large numbers and for that we thank you. Unfortunately at the end of it all we were millions of shillings in debt. It was heart breaking for us because this is the thing we loved to do and we still love to do, and we were hoping that for that moment it would show us some love back and it didn’t.” Wambui explained.

They went on to divulge they began 2015 in debt and were forced to ‘stop’ releasing songs and plan how they could make money through other avenues.

It’s then that Elani turned their attention to royalties they earned from Music Copyright Society of Kenya (MCSK.)

“We began 2015 in debt and we are very grateful to corporates that came and gave us gigs and we were able to clear the debts. But sadly after clearing the debt we sat down three of us and realized that there is actually a problem why we can’t make money off other avenues that are very open to artists to make money. So we took a break and actually tried to figure out what was actually happening because being artists who are signed under MCSK we are entitled to royalties.” Revealed Chweya.

Elani says they received Kes 31,000 as royalties from MCSK and that made them realize they had been robbed. They decided to carry out investigation to find out why they made so little yet they boast of hit songs after hit songs.

To clear wrong doings, MCSK gave Elani a ‘compensatory’ amount of Kes 300,000. But Elani were still not satisfied that 300k was the money their songs generated as  royalties.

The trio is calling for transparency and accountability on the part of MSCK in distributing royalties to artists. They think the music body has robbed them.

Last year, J Blessing and Chantelle’s first born son Kyle passed away at the Agha Khan Hospital in Nairobi where he was receiving treatment.

Four months after his passing, his parents took to social media to remember their son in a poignant message:

The latest season of Coke Studio Africa brought together 28 artistes drawn from Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Mozambique and Nigeria. The musicians were then paired off to create songs mash-ups of two different songs.

Yemi Alade was paired off with Coke Studio first timers Sauti Sol and together they produced a mash-up we are unlikely to forget, after all, they are both known for their passionate performances.

The group and Yemi Alade had chemistry on stage and it seems that it spilled over to off the stage. With Bien and Yemi Alade’s chemistry resulting into a friendship that had Bien help Yemi Alade translate her new hit song ‘No Gode’ into Kiswahili.

And Yemi was over the moon because of this giving credit to his song writing skills calling him the ‘musical prof’ .

You steal songs, you break girls hearts left, right and center, you dress like an aspiring pimp. Like what the f*ck dude? Your barbaric thirst for controversy and mayhem knows no apparent limits. And your shock value grows daily. There’s no doubt that you are successful and you deserve our praise no matter how much that sticks in our gullets. In show business, it’s really important to be unpredictable. You Willy Paul know how to be unpredictable. You have been, boxed, cornered and pigeonholed but you still managed to come out on top. But adding a good image to your talents will help you a lot. Or maybe just going secular.

You see, the problem with being a controversial artiste is that when it finally reaches that time when you are past your peak and can no longer make good music, haters will shit all over you and guess what? There’l be nothing you can do about it. Ask people like Prezzo.

Maybe the gospel industry needs to be abolished all together. Or better yet, regulated. It has just become a nauseating, backslapping genre where pretenders queue up to pay unctous tribute to themselves. The voices of so many false prophets are clamoring for our attention. Some come knocking on your door. Some speak to you from your television screens or your radios. Some come offering everything from a new version of Scripture to a new vision for which they need your money

In first Corinthians verses 10 and 11, Peter infers that people who use God’s word for personal gain are just like the men of Sodom and Gomorrah. They hay, the same characteristics: they “indulge the flesh in its corrupt desires and despise authority. Daring, self–willed, they do not tremble when they revile angelic majesties . . . ” Yet, Peter continues, “. . . angels who are greater in might and power do not bring a reviling judgment against them before the Lord.” But let us not forget what the apostle said about them in verse 3, ” . . . their judgment from long ago is not idle, and their destruction is not asleep.”

Willy Paul and Bahati, you two should style up or quit the gospel industry altogether to allow righteous people to thrive. We won’t miss you. Where are the Christina Shushos of the 254? Those are the kind of people we need. Not cry babies and scandalous pricks. Thank you

January is off to an exciting and action packed start for GOtv subscribers with the 2016 African Nations Championship (CHAN) tournament kicking off from 16 January – 07 February.

Many believe Bahati and Willy Paul’s antics are mere publicity stunt. Gospel singer, L Jay Maasai is fuming with anger following the recent Willy Paul/Bahati faceoff.

“Nkt!! Bahati and Willy Paul, I think that I speak for many people/fans/artists and music industry stake holders when I say that we are tired and have had enough of your silly, childish fights and arguments every now and then. Yani mna Sinya na hizi story za ki fala kila wakati. Personally nime wa Shiba. Honestly, I cry for our generation if these are the people they are to look up to.” Wrote L Jay in part.

L jay accused the two rivals of spitting on gospel ministry and tarnishing its name with their childish fights.

“Najua we are all not perfect but you guys have completely turned the gospel ministry into showbiz and a battle field where we are fighting against each other. Trying to bring one down, so that the other might be on top we are now governed by jelousy, hypocrasy and pretence.
You guys need to grow up!! Act a little more mature and concetrate on your ministries. Na sitachoka kuwaambia ukweli.”

The ‘Tapala’ hit maker went on to remind Bahati and Willy that he won’t get tired of blasting them for their childish behaviors.

Its very annoying and irritating to be lumped negatively with the statement that always starts; “you gospel artists” have done this, have done that.”

The Citizen TV 1 O’clock news anchor is resting at home after he was involved in an accident that took its toll on his left leg.

The ever jovial Willis Raburu is struggling with intense pain after he accidentally dislocated his knee cap on the left leg.

Willis says he will be out of work for a while as he undergoes physiotherapy. He now uses crutches to move around.

The big man however didn’t reveal how exactly he hurt his knee. Willis was alerting his fans about his brief absence from TV going on to urge them to catch up with him online.

“Hey people, so yesterday i dislocated my knee cap, that was a new level of pain…If it wasn’t for my work mates and friends though i don’t think i would have made it thru the day jana. So now I’m on knee brace and crutches as i undergo some physiotherapy, ill be out of work for a while but will be back! Meanwhile keep me in your thoughts and prayers. Let’s keep talking online”

When I said it is open comical season in the political arena it was quite an understatement it appears. The people of elected and those yearning for the elective posts seem to be quite adept in coming up with new laws.

He spent Christmas and New Year in Industrial Area Remand Prison. As a matter of facts, Blaqy was in the prison for the whole of December and first days of January.

Dancehall artist, Blaqy, became a sensation when he was seen grinding Risper Faith’s huge behinds in a raunchy video ‘Money Maker’.

Blaqy became a household name afterwards but 2015 was a bad year for the singer not only music-wise but also financially.

The singer was apprehended by the police towards the end of November for being involved in a hit and run accident that happened years ago.

Apparently Blaqy hit a pedestrian but didn’t bother to stop. He thought he had gotten away with his crime only for the police to bring him to book.

Blaqy was taken to Industrial Area Remand Prison after he failed to raise bail. The singer would spend 37 days locked in prison as he struggled to marshal friends to contribute towards his bail.

Fortunately Nairobi Senator, Mike Sonko, come in handy in rescuing Blaqy. The singer says Sonko helped to bail him out.

“I thank God and you all 4 remembering me in day to day prayers. I have been in industrial area prison for 37 days and yesterday my friend MIKE SONKO helped to bail me out with the help of my mum and my wife whom i have faith in… I will tell you her name later.” Wrote Blaqy after being released.

Celebrated Property Show host, Janet Kanini Ikua, has completed the final hurdle in her battle against lung cancer.

Janet Kanini has been battling lung cancer for months but she remained strong as she fights the chronic disease.

Last November, the nation stood with Kanini as folks from all walks of life converged at Carnivore Grounds to raise money for her treatment.

The NTV presenter has been undergoing Chemotherapy treatment at Nairobi Hospital. She successful completed the final cycle of the treatment.

Cindy Ogana was the first celebrity to congratulate Janet Kanini after she completed the chemotherapy treatment.

“Help me congratulate this awesome most fearless woman Janet Kanini Ikua who has just completed her FINAL cycle of chemotherapy! And when we say final we say IT IS FINISHED!” Wrote Cindy.

They buried the hatchet last year during Groove Nominations at KICC but the truce has since been broken with the onset of 2016. Bahati and Willy Paul’s on/off friendship is at its worst again!

These two boys have been on each other’s neck for the better part of 2015. With a fresh new year, not many expected Bahati and Willy Paul to be locked in yet another bitter rivalry.

Anyway, hell broke loose yesterday; Bahati claimed Willy Paul leaked a song they had recorded but hadn’t been produced.

Willy wrote a lengthy response late last evening accusing Bahati of leaking the song then blaming him. He said the ‘Story Yangu’ singer had a knack of pulling other artists down in order for him to ascend to the top citing Bahati’s recent faceoff with Daddy Owen.

Trouble might brewing in Gospelville….aheem, let me rephrase that. I meant trouble is brewing in gospelville once again and as usual the two top heavyweights are at the centre of it all; I’m talking about Willy Paul and Bahati.

Earlier today we broke the story of how Bahati was accusing Willy Paul of being a lie, a cheat and a person out to tarnish his name. This came about after a song they apparently collaborated leak, a song Bahati claims he knew nothing about. According to Bahati, they did the song alright but they had disagreements in the process which led to Bahati calling off the project.

He in turn asked the producer they were working with, Teddy B to delete the song but it seems he didn’t. He instead worked on it a bit more and together with Willy Paul they have been circulating it on whatsapp groups stated a disgruntled Bahati.

Bahati and Raila Odinga are wagging on people’s tongues following last night’s function in Westlands!

Last night, invited guests converged at Safaricom House, Michael Joseph Center, for the annual MCSK Music Talent Award Gala.

Gospel wonder-boy, Bahati, was among the artists who entertained the audience with attention grasping performance.

The ‘Story Yangu’ singer invited former Prime Minister, Raila Odinga, to the stage where they shook legs together.

Given that Raila isn’t a good dancer, Bahati had to work a little harder to teach the Cord leader how to make agile moves.

Ray-c has experienced erratic weight changes in the last half decade. From extreme weight loss when she was deep into drug addiction to a massive weight gain after recovery. After about 2 years, Ray-C has bounced back to a healthy 68 Kgs.

The Tananian Diva is now in a battle with a popular Tanzanian Weigh Loss company that is now taking credit for her weight loss, claiming that their drugs is the reason Ray-C has bounced back so beautifully.

Ray-C has however denied these claims and has said that the said weight loss drug does not even work .She says that she had been approached by an Edmark representative to advertise the product but when she realized that the drug does not work because it apparently has too much chocolate, she visited their offices. And when she tried to explain to them, one of the company’s representatives said that if she wanted weight loss drugs then she would have to buy.

After this incident, Ray-C says that the company used her before and after pictures to advertise their product expressing disgust over such a huge company peddling such a lie and dragging her name into it.

“I demand that you remove those pictures of mine that you have used from your site within 24 hours or we will meet in court with my lawyer for fooling Tanzanians.” She said before warning Tanzanians to be wary of such frauds

Leading Ugandan entertainment website says Corazon Kwamboka was holed up in a sponsor’s mansion engaging in all manner of debauchery.

Corazon Kwamboka flew to the neighboring Uganda for the Christmas festivities where her sweetheart, Meddie Ssentongo, treated her like a virgin bride on the night of her wedding.

While the information we had only restricted us to how Meddie spoilt our Kenyan girl with a princess-like treat, leading Ugandan entertainment website, Redpepper, has laid it bare what transpired between the two lovebirds in the confines of their bedroom.

Redpepper says Meddie bisected Corazon for about 500 hours (days and nights) ever since the Kenyan socialite jetted into Uganda.

And how did they prove this? Redpepper says they had a chat with Meddie’s crew (members of The Money Team (TMT) which Meddie leads) who were grumbling that the Ugandan millionaire had been difficult to access ever since Corazon visited him.

TMT Crew says Meddie is always occupied with Corazon in his Munyonyo mansion (Munyonyo is Uganda’s equivalent of Runda) or in her hotel room at Serena.

“They are always indoors and the only time they are not is when going to party where they also don’t spend more than four hours before returning to chew each other.” One of TMT members was quoted as saying.

Meddie Ssentongo boasts of being a beast between the sheets. The Ugandan has dated a number of hot ladies; Ex NTV presenter Anita Fabiola, Tanzanian socialite, Agnes Masogange etc whom he dumped after chewing them repeatedly.

Well, the English version is shaky…but if you can persevere, then you will get to the Luo chorus and this is the joy of the song. There is something tuneful about Luo language that makes it awesome in songs.
