The social media has been flooded for the last couple of months with messages from celebrities across East Africa and beyond littering every page and account. You ought to already know what everyone is talking about. Ne-yo and Diamond’s musical project! So excited!

So late last year, I got to see Grammy Award Winner Ne-yo and Tanzania’s highest paid MTV Europe Award winner Diamond Platnumz up close. Okay, not really up close cause it was flooded with a good number of mean looking mountain-like bouncers shoving off groupies around them, but I at least got to see them in real life. However, to my disbelief, they did not perform.

But this year, my dreams came true…I’ll got to see them perform; wait for it, on the same stage! Last year in May, Diamond was the main performer at the celebrated Jembeka Festival that saw millions of people turning up. This year though, it was hotter with Ne-yo joining Diamond at the festival as the main performers. The two most biggest and arguably most sought after artistes performed live at Mwanza, over the weekend, Tanzania’s second largest city. Not only was it a new thrilling experience to attend a concert in Tanzania, but also visiting Mwanza! I’d heard libraries of thrilling stories about party life in the mid -sized port city on the southern shores of Lake Victoria in northwestern Tanzania, and true to every word they said, it was worth every minute every coin!

Gospel singer Willy Paul is bringing his mother an expensive gift he bought her in America!

Willy Paul left Kenya for Dallas, USA days ago where he is slated to perform at the 16^th annual Dallas Memorial Kenyan Festival which will take place from 26^th to 30^th May.

Contrary to earlier claims that Willy Paul had neglected his mother, ‘Take It Slow’ singer had his mom in mind when he arrived in US.

If you think you are having as horrible month, try being Abbas this week. Abbas Kubaff was left frustrated after he was handed his MCSK earnings which came to a meager 89 bob.

Abbas is not the only one who has come out complaining about MCSK.

Genge group P-Unit had earlier revealed that MCSK had offered to pay them 250 bob for ‘Kare’ which they refused and they had to raise the issue with MCSK who begrudgingly coughed up 100,000 which was divided three-ways.

Elani on the other hand claimed that they received Kes 31,000 as royalties from MCSK and that made them realize they had been robbed.

When you are getting married, you generally want the support of your family friends and fans. But Nyota Ndogo’s brother Juma Tutu was not a happy camper after his sister got married in a vibrant wedding.

Nyota Ndogo married her Danish boyfriend Hening Neilsen at the Rosewood Hotel in Voi in an invite-only ceremony but her brother had nothing but insults for his sister. Even going to the extent of shading her make-up and her husband.

“Duh…wakaa kama Ghost na huyo ancestor wako.” He wrote.

This is not the first time Juma has expressed disdain for the husband Nyota chose ; he once posted this on Instagram in regards to his sister’s wedding to Neilsen:

Before she pursued a socialite ‘career’, before she decided to pursue music and before she joined the cast of Nairobi Diaries, Pendo was a law student.

But she dropped out as she reveled in a recent interview with Ghafla. And she has no intentions of pursuing law, at least not for now as she has money on her mind.

“I love education, but I don’t see myself going back to school soon, I would rather open a business” she disclosed before adding that she has set her sights on a salon business.

However, her reasons not to pursue education should not encourage her fans to do the same .That‘s her decision, it’s her life and here decisions should not influence anyone to pursue her path, as she has her stuff all figured out, she disclosed.

He stripped naked and then entered into a lion’s cage waiting for the big cats to pounce on him. And indeed they did, and the incident was caught on camera.

A 20-year-old man in Chile was severely wounded after he attempted suicide by jumping into a lion’s cage in his birthday suit.

Zoo visitors in Chilean capital of Santiago last Saturday watched in horror as suicidal Franco Luis Ferrada Roman stripped bare before jumping into the cage of hungry lions.

The lions quickly pounced on the free easy meal and started tearing him apart. Zookeepers responded quickly and shot death two lions, a male and a female, that had started feasting on him.

“Unbwogable” Hit maker Gidi Gidi has welcomed a new bundle of joy!

Radio Jambo’s Joseph Ogidi popularly known as Gidi Gidi is the newest celebrity dad in town. His wife delivered a bouncing baby girl yesterday.

Gidi Gidi ‘quit’ music to be a radio presenter full time. He hosts a morning show on Radio Jambo dubbed ‘Patanisho’ alongside former Harambee Stars coach Jacob Ghost Mulee.

Gidi Gidi rushed to the social media to break news about her new born daughter once he learnt he was a dad again.

“Welcome to the world daughter Marie-Rose Hera Ogidi. Congratulations Nyasuba. We thank God for the bundle of Joy” Wrote Gidi Gidi.

He however didn’t share a photo of his daughter. Despite his celebrity status, Gidi Gidi loves to keep his private life away from the public eye.

Sonko’s son turned four yesterday and the Nairobi Senator made sure his son celebrated his big day in style!

Sometimes in March 2014, Al Shabaab gunmen attacked a church in Likoni, Mombasa spraying bullets on worshipers.

Among those hit by the bullets was a two year old Baby Satrin Osinya. The bullet that killed his mother penetrated in his skull.

Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko rushed to make sure Osinya gets medical help to get the bullet out of his skull. Sonko adopted him after the incident.

Sonko yesterday threw his son a grand birthday bash as he turned four. Baby Osinya’s sister Sandra was present to assist him cut the cake. Saumu, Salma and Sonko himself were not seen during the birthday.

After three years of dating, Nyota Ndogo yesterday finally walked down the aisle with her now Danish husband Henning Nielsen.

“Watu na Viatu” singer got engaged to Henning Nielsen six years after she separated with her first husband.

Nielsen visited Nyota Ndogo’s rural home in Voi, Taita Taveta County where he married the Coast-based singer an Islamic wedding.

The lovebirds then got married in a ‘Western’ wedding which witnessed wardrobe malfunction on the part of the bride.

Nyota Ndogo was over-pimped with makeup which made her look ‘scary’. Even Naomi Ng’ang’a was frightened by her looks.

The Citizen TV anchor says she was compelled to feed baby Ethan Huru Ndichu with formula milk after her breasts terribly ‘let her down.’

Baby Ethan was sucking his mother’s breasts dry yet he still couldn’t get enough to snuff out his unending hunger.

Janet Mbugua says her baby would wake up after every 45 minutes to breastfeed. Her milk wasn’t enough for her son and yet she wasn’t producing enough.

“Often time he would fall asleep on my bosom. But I grew concerned; he would sleep for 45 minutes, at most, and wake up with raging hunger again. He would then breastfeed for an hour and we would repeat this pattern. At times this got really tiring and I was terribly sore, as mentioned earlier. But more than that, I wondered why he didn’t seem to be getting full and began to worry that I wasn’t producing enough milk for his seemingly insatiable appetite.” Revealed Janet Mbugua.

The Citizen TV anchor says she resorted to drinking a lot of fluid to boost her milk production but it still didn’t work.

“I doubled my fluid intake and everything else I was advised to; soup (mostly), porridge, warm water, juice, Ovaltine…name it, I tried it. Even the widely advised dill seeds. At some point I tried the drug Motillium! While I was producing a fairly good amount of breastmilk (on a good day I could express about 300 mils), I quickly realised that I wasn’t going to be one of those mothers who would be able to exclusively breastfeed my son for the recommended 6 months.”[sic]

Janet started feeding Ethan with formula milk after her husband Eddie Ndichu and mother advised her after seeing how she was struggling with breast milk.

Formula milk worked magic on baby Ethan as he slept for two long hours on the first day he was fed formula milk.

“Baby Huru wasn’t getting full enough and my husband advised that we try a formula top up. He could see how discouraged and exhausted I was. My mother had to remind me that I, too, was formula fed and I turned out okay! I fought the decision initially but after we saw Huru sleep for two hours for the first time, we realised he needed that top up.” Wrote Janet in part.

Hearsay has it that Abbas Kubaff has permanently relocated to Malta Island with his wife Anna Curtis and their 11-month-old daughter Sofia.

Nairobi Wire says sources close to Abbas opened up about the rapper’s move to the tiny Mediterranean island nation after he had boarded a plane and left Kenya on Wednesday.

Abbas hasn’t revealed anything about the said relocation, his phone wasn’t going through. Abbas’ latest posts on social media show the rapper enjoying quality time with his family abroad.

Memories of coldhearted police ruthlessly beating a protester who was lying motionless are still fresh in our minds. But you will not hate all men and women in uniform after seeing what an AP cop did!

Police are arguably the most hated lot in Kenya. And this is particularly due to decade-long mistrust that has existed between law enforcement officers and members of the general public.

In the eyes of many, police are underpaid, semi-educated and insensible bastards who serve the interest of the ruling elite.

But this perception is not true of all men and women in uniform. An Administration Police officer has wowed Kenyans by his daring action.

The officer recorded a video telling the public not all police officers were ruthless and insensitive. He says he doesn’t support some actions by the police.

“Mimi ni karao but ukiniona na uniform usianze kunipoint fingers na kuanza kusema ‘ndo hao ndo hao’. I don’t support some police action but neither do I support violent mass action. Ata kama navaa uniform haimanishi sina feelings ama siwezi relate na life ya mavijanaa. Sijacome kukupiga na teargas, nimecome kukupiga na words.” The officers introduced himself.

His words melted the heart of Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko who shared the video disclosing the officer couldn’t have framed his words any better.

3. Jeff Koinange-TV Host

Many know Jeff as the charming host of popular and at times controversial talk show, Jeff Koinange LIVE #JKL on Kenya’s Television Network, KTN. What people don’t know is that his father was Frederick Mbiyu Koinange, son of Chief Mbiyu Koinange, a prominent Kikuyu chief during colonial times.

Jeff is also related to Peter Mbiyu Koinange,  a man who served the country as an M.P for Kiambaa constituency, Minister of State for Education, External Affairs, Pan-African Affairs, as well as Minister of State in the Office of the President.

He was so rich that his enormous estate which  included over 5,000 acres of prime land in Nairobi, Kiambu, Nakuru and Mombasa was worth 17.4 Billion Kshs. In addition Mbiyu was said to have shares in hotels, agriculture and manufacturing industries.

In addition, Jeff is the cousin to Uhuru Kenyatta.

4. Yvonne Maingey- NTV  News Anchor

We all know that Yvonne was a child star on Club Kiboko, what many don’t know is that Yvonne is not from just any family in Kenya but a family of scholars. After Club Kiboko, Yvonne flew out to pursue university education in London and New York and is currently working on her PHD at the University of Nairobi.

5. Michelle Morgan-Xtreem Outdoors Africa Host and Alchemist Bar co-Owner

The former news anchor is half Tanzanian-half British. Her father was a soldier in Kenya while her mother a Tanzanian, was an air hostess with East African Airlines. Her family owns one of the top security firms in Kenya called BM security.

6. Adelle Onyango-Kiss 100 Radio Presenter

Not much is known about Adelle’s father the late Richard Onyango, but Adelle’s mum Mary Onyango was a very prominent public figure who you probably spotted on TV. She was hard to miss as she was a very sharp-dresser and a vice chair in the National Cohesion & Integration Commission (NCIC) .She was also a founding Member and Executive Director of the Kenya Breast Health Programme.

Prior to her position as the vice-chair of NCIC, Mary served in various senior level management positions including as a financial controller at the Agricultural Finance Corporation.

7. Zachary Saitoti-Owner Shift-Eye Gallery  

His father George Saitoti enjoyed a prolific political career. He was the longest serving Vice President, (1989-1998 and 1999-2002), Minister for education and Internal Security among other political posts.

After Saitoti’s death, Zachary and his mum were to share Saitoti’s wealth (worth more than Sh84.5 million) equally, meaning that Zachary inherited quite a lump sum. He currently owns one on Kenya’s most successful photographic studios, Shift-Eye Gallery  

8. Prezzo-Rapper and Reality Star

Prezzo’s affluent family needs no introduction as Prezzo often and openly brags about his family’s money and expensive purchases. Thanks to his family wealth, Prezzo has been able to constantly set and raise the celebrity lifestyle bar.

In fact, his video P.R.E.Z.Z.O, released in 2006 was among the first expensive Kenyan videos and was allegedly worth Kshs. 500,000 .A decade later; this is still a hefty amount to pay for a music video.

9. Karun Mungai

Everyone knew that Miss Karun was not your usual musician after the president attended the exclusive listening party for her first solo album at the Muthaiga Golf and Country Club in 2013.

Not much is known about her family except that her mum, Molly Mungai is the CEO and Creative Strategy Director at African Mystique Ltd and her dad, Eric Mungai is the director of a real estate investment company called Speedway Investments LTD and CEO of Astral Mining.

Mr. Mungai is said to be a good friend of Uhuru Kenyatta.

10. Tiri 

Tiri who had been touted as Miss Karun’s replacement at ‘Camp Mullah’ is the grand daughter to John Michuki and Josephine Watiri.Michuki was a popular politician who served as a Minister for Transport and Communication and as a Minister for environment.

Michuki was also the chairman and majority shareholder of the exclusive Windsor Golf & Country Club in Nairobi

After more than a year of dating and a brief pause on their relationship, Prezzo decided to get down on one knee, proposing to his girlfriend Michelle Oyola with a gold and diamond ring.

According to Pulse Magazine, plans are already underway to make sure that the two get married by the end of the year and both their families have already met.

As she prepares to become Mrs. Ngechu by the end of 2016, Michelle is already planning her wedding and has already chosen her bridesmaids and maid of honor, that is according to her IG page.

The brother of Kakamega Senator has passed on in Uasin Gishu County!

Senator Bonny Khalwale’s brother Gaeb Ashiono Khalwale has passed on at a hospital in Eldoret town today Friday 20^th.

The deceased was a lecturer at Moi University where he taught Aerospace science class. Tuko quotes the Kakamega Senator as saying his brother collapsed and died at a hospital in Eldoret.

The cause of Gaeb’s untimely death or what was ailing him is yet to be made public. We shall update you on this developing story as news continues to trickle in.

Anne Ngugi has worked for some of the most prestigious news outlets in Kenya including KTN and K24 before she was let go.That was back in 2013 when Media Max sacked over 70 employees including K24, Kameme FM and Milele FM employees.

Among those sent packing were Anne Ngugi, Nyatichi Nyasani, Caleb Karuga, Yassin Juma and others.The worst part about Ann losing her job was that she was pregnant…with twins.

She recently opened up about that experience in an interview with The Nairobian. “I was sacked by Mediamax when I was five months pregnant with twins. I never imagined losing a job like that. I always thought that I was in control, but it happened. I have moved on from that. It was a learning experience. My life changed a lot. I used to earn a good salary and could afford a good life. I have had to make adjustments in my life, but we are fine.” she disclosed.

A few months after she was sacked, life hit her with another crisis, her husband Hypolite Nyongbia and another Congolese, Kamimbaya Soumali were accused of defrauding a Nigerian and two Koreans off 6.4 Million Kshs.

Problem is, she was implicated in the whole scandal. Speaking on it, Anne said, “The case is still in court, three years later. I am not a gold merchant. I am a journalist and a communications practitioner. The truth will one day come out. I have been called names by people. A close friend accused me of being a criminal and warned people not to interact with me, claiming I would con them.”

SAFARICOM STATEMENT REGARDING ALLEGATIONS ON CORPORATE GOVERNANCE

Following recent reports in the media regarding a leaked draft KPMG Report authored for Safaricom Limited, we would like to state the following:

1.) Safaricom takes its corporate responsibilities very seriously and the business operates under a strict Code of Conduct, which has a zero tolerance position on corruption or any other unethical or inappropriate activities.

2.) As a responsible company, from time to time Safaricom seeks the views of external experts to ensure that compliance and governance processes are effectively implemented. In this regard, I commissioned KMPG to conduct a study of a number of projects we have undertaken in the recent past. In that regard, KPMG prepared a draft Report for consideration by Safaricom which illegally made public.

3. The Report was in its initial formation; therefore the content, summaries and proposed findings therein were subject to further discussion and clarification by the parties. As such, the contents of that draft Report are not conclusive and we caution against any premature conclusions being drawn on the basis of this unfinished Report.

4.) For the avoidance of doubt, the draft Report makes it clear that-while there are internal process improvements required-there is absolutely no evidence that any individuals or organizations benefited inappropriately from any of Safaricom’s commercial agreements.

5.) Unfortunately, as state previously, the draft Report was illegally obtained and leaked to the public. Safaricom has reported this matter to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations for investigation and we await their findings.

6.) We believe a proactive and routine corporate governance initiative is being used to create negative perception and execute reputation attacks on Safaricom. We firmly believe the individuals behind this seek to intimidate, blackmail and extort Safaricom. We will not allow this to happen.

For the last 15 years, Safaricom has worked hard to ensure that our business compliments the growing profile of the Kenyan corporate sector. We have proactively adopted world-class corporate governance standards and embedded them in our day-to-day activities.

Sauti Sol are set to perform in Mozambique, South Africa and Maputo, as part of the new “Live and Die in Afrika world tour”, an extension of their just-concluded Kenyan edition of Live and Die in Afrika Tour. 

Live and Die in Afrika tour is Sauti Sol’s first self-produced concert series and tour, revealing the live performances of all the 15 songs in the Live and Die in Afrika album, among other Sauti Sol hits, while presenting other local talent on the platform. This is a feat in Kenya’s music industry and a first by any music group or act. Through Sauti Sol’s tour, the Kenyan music industry has witnessed a huge growth and show for potential and support from different stakeholders.

 As part of the “Live and Die in Afrika world tour”, Sauti Sol will be performing at Azgo Festival (21st May in Mozambique), Carfax, Johannesburg (27th May in South Africa) and Bushfire Festival (28th May 2016 in Maputo).

After about six weeks of touring Kenya and several months of preparing and working on their acclaimed nationwide Live and Die in Afrika Tour, it concluded in Mombasa last weekend. Hosted at Mombasa Sports Club, the finale tour concert recorded an impressive over 3,000 plus attendees – the highest in the tour venues so far. Kicking off in Nairobi in the launch of the Live and Die in Afrika album, the tour also visited Nakuru, Eldoret, Kisumu and Meru towns – transporting Kenya’s biggest music production and tour of over 90 professionals in music business.
