He’s one of the most controversial public figures in Kenya and yet, 1) he’s not a politician, 2) he does not hold any public office, 3)he is not a rapper, 4) he is not a booty-laden socialite and 5) he does not even have star in a scandalous Reality TV show.
He’s just a simple political analyst with a dubious notoriety that stretches from the Sub-Saharan Africa to the Pacific Oceans.
Prior to the 2013 Elections period,that saw him rise like a phoenix and become the most sought-after political analyst on pretty much all Kenyan TV stations,Ngunyi was but a regular fellow running a vast Consulting company lazily named the Consulting House,spreading his ‘services’,whatever they were,to over 11 Countries across Africa.
And then the heated electioneering period kicked in and brought with it an urge for political prophecies and hypotheses.
Looking around,our placid TV heads couldn’t find someone who had the brassiness and the chutzpah that Mutahi possessed and just like that,he was anointed the resident political provocateur on all TV stations jumping from channel to channel to pontificate, like an all-powerful Russian tsar,on all things politics.
Even delving into political prophesies for good measure.
But his political leanings were crystal clear from the start – He was pro-Jubilee and rabidly anti-CORD,a disposition he cemented for ages with that one classic quip ‘Tyranny of Numbers’
In fact, before making that infamous’ Tyranny of Numbers’ analysis,that stirred up the Nation, Mutahi was but any other television political analyst,albeit very in-demand.
That line alone propelled him to instant infamy and made him a hero and villain to millions of voters depending on their political allegiances.
Emboldened by the gem he’d just coined, Mutahi decided to use that defining moment to create even more infamy for himself and become the de facto King of Political analysis on Television. And he succeeded.
At around that time,the man’s Twitter blew up and his activities on the social media platform increased tenfold.
He’d just emerged as the hero of the Kikuyu voting populace – and in extension,Jubilee – and was milking that coronation to it’s last drop.
The political scientist’s star,who has taught at the University of Nairobi, University of Leeds (Visiting Research Fellow) and the University of Helsinki in Finland (Visiting Research Fellow), was just beginning to rise…. And with Jubilee finally in power,after delivering a fatal knockout on CORD at the polls, Mutahi became one of the very first benefactors of the milk and honey that Government throws around like grains of sand.
But even before President Kenyatta was sworn in,Mutahi had galvanized social media,earning hordes of fresh supporters and admirers who swore by his brilliance,accuracy and sharp intellect.
Facebook pages in tribute to the political analyst rock star were even started.
Even to his most rabid haters,Mutahi was superbly smart and exciting – especially with his laid back television personality and just how easily and effortlessly he delivered his fatal verbal blows on his enemies and dissected his topics with the meticulousness of an Cuban neurosurgeon.
But his love affair with Twitter – and the general public – couldn’t last very long.
Slowly,he started selling out and his rockstar glitter started to wear off. He became a Government operative and a State House mandarin hired to help the new guy at the top navigate his hazy way around the maze of public office.
Soon enough,he would be hired by CS Anne Waiguru’s office to help rebrand NYS and provide consultancy services while at the same time,earning ridiculously huge sums for his ‘services’, whatever they were.
And then a few months after his hiring,the office of the Devolution Ministry would then be embroiled in one of the most fiendish and gigantic scandals ever – even in Kenyan standards.
We are talking billions here. Money that was looted and carelessly shared out amongst a cabal of some of the greediest pigs to ever have proximity to Government.
Mutahi was said to be one of the benefactors of the lost billions.

Instead of offering a polite mea culpa,like anyone would be expected to, taking us through a detailed analysis of how innocent he was,Mutahi chose to irk the masses by turning into a foul-mouthed,arrogant brute who would spew expletives and curse at his critics with a bossy nonchalance and lordy attitude only reserved for filthy drug Lords.
He was never sorry nor even remotely remorseful for any millions he might have pocketed irregularly.
From his acidic tweets and nasty mouth,you could tell that the good political prophet had now become an entitled scumbag with a big head and a cold heart who cares very little about the perceived losers who dared come for his royal neck.
Arrogance,haughtiness and virulence became his new style of doing things, occasionally picking on an entire community and dehumanizing it along with the communities’ perceived leader,Raila Odinga.
Like a thick headed classroom bully,Mutahi made it his hobby to ridicule and disparage the Luo community – and Raila Odinga as well – with much glee and abandon.
His hateful remarks against the Lakeside community saw him create a Twitter storm and even be arrested for hate speech.
Ever the haughty hate purveyor, Mutahi preferred to trivialize the whole matter,in spite of its gravity, by offering to produce a goat for the Luo community and offering some nonsensical scholarships for two disadvantaged kids in Luoland. As if that could ever,ever take away his nastiness towards the Tom Mboya community.
His arrogance didn’t stop at his tweets for he is on record for saying,
“The NYS affidavit by Josephine ‘whatever’ is a lie. If she met Waiguru and others, I was not there. If in doubt, you can sit on a pin,”
This Josephine he was calling ‘whatever’ was the same woman he met Waiguru with at her Runda (Waiguru’s) house,according to the affidavit.
As for the millions he was being reported of immorally pocketing,he laughed it off and made so many denials,in so many different ways,that Kenyans had a collective headache.
He became the ultimate scumbag,pissing off everyone in every way and having very little apology to make.
And with his latest controversy,of his suddenly ‘discovering’ some Ksh. 11 million shillings idling undetected in his account,even his Jubilee fanatics have seen through his stinking B.S and are quickly calling for his immediate prosecution.
In a ludicrous letter to the Public Service CS dated July 29, 2016, Mutahi said his auditors had come across some Sh11,875,000 paid to his company, called the Consulting House writing in part ;
There is a payment totaling Ksh11,875,000 which we did not invoice any of our clients for. This was made on the 23 rd of April 2015 through INWARD REMITTANCE PROCEEDS – 022IPO3152130310. Since none of our clients has claimed these finds, kindly confirm that this is the said overpayment raised by the auditor general’s report.
Absolute hogwash.
Twitter blew up and called for his immediate arrest for colluding with the NYS pigs to swindle the Country but he was less than worried tweeting out garbage like
“Why is my good deed met with acid pessimism. Am I stupid? What is wrong with doing the right thing?”
And then this one,
“And what is wrong with having a lot of money? I am a Kikuyu. It is natural.”
Because ALL Kikuyus have a lot of money. Including the millions and millions of jigger-infested Kikuyus in Murang’a and Nyeri and Kiambu.
There has never been a more lame,more foolish instance of generalization.
And for a man with a PhD,that level of stupidity is unparalleled.
Like Beyonce would say,Boy bye.
