Octopizzo Tears Into Kisima Awards And Says Nzumari Is The Best Award Show!

Octopizzo tore into Kisima awards on Willy M Tuva’s show “Mambo Mseto” and he wasn’t holding anything back! He followed through on all his punches with all his weight!

Octopizzo went in hard calling Kisima and most of Nairobi’s awards shows “utiaji”. But here’s how you know Octopizzo is a fearless one, he named Kisima by name. None of that half stepping no naming rot for Octo!

Then he went in! Apparently the organising committee of Nzumari Awards flew the participants in and made sure they were well taken care of. Kisima had 20+ (his words, not mine) sponsors but couldn’t even send a taxi to get the artists. Not even those billed to perform were picked up by taxi. Octo also said that by denying them food, they just showed “wanautiaji” mob sana.

And when asked what else he liked about Nzumari Awards, he replied that the organisation was top notch and so was the sound system and public adress system. And he was shocked to see coastal indegenes singing his tracks word for word and even the nne in buibui were singing along.

And Octo said that therein was another difference between Coastal fans and Nairobi fans. While Coastal fans appreciate artists and their music, nairobi fans think they know it all. They don’t give the entertainer the energy to really perform because they act like they aren’t feeling the music. And that ladies and gentlemen was Octopizzo speaking!

Check Out Prezzo’s New Naija Track

Prezzo recently released two tracks to mark his return to music after Big Brother Africa. With the new tracks, he also unveils a new, blonde and Afro couture.

The rapper’s recent relocation to Nigeria seems to have already inspired his musical direction. We heard him sing in Naija Gal and now we get to hear Prezzo turn his Afro electro on.

This might just be his least hip hop-leaning track. But he doesn’t totaly discard the genre we have come to know him for. He does a few lines but not enough to nudge the song towards the genre. It almost sounds like something you expect to hear from Madtraxx. This is one is set to become a surefire club hit. Check out LiqHer below.

Christine Apondi drops a new track and it’s the best club banger from her yet

Christine Apondi’s voice has this way of magnifying every emotion she intends to put out to her listeners, whether sad, in love, or just the pure party mood that you need to get into.

In this new track, she brings out the joy, relaxation and party mood in you through this feel good song that has straight to the soul African influence. Simple lyrics bringing out amplified joyful emotions, not everyone can do this. Christine Apondi just happens to be one of those that actually can.

The song titled ‘I like it’ has just been released along with its video and I am moving my entire body to the beats even as type down this article. It is that danceable, from the moment you press play.

How I would love to hear this song in the club. It spells out freedom of the song like nothing I’ve heard before.

Check it out below.

For all the Luhyas in town, here comes Mulembe Night

These are the kind of nights that being old school is way cooler than just being all swagged out and cool.

Mulembe night is back and this time it brings back more Luhya flavour than ever before. With the pride that comes with being Luhya, you will all get the chance to walk around and bask in your glory as you drink traditional brews and not to forget, ‘ingokho’.

This doesn’t mean cocktails and beers won’t be on the table. No! There will be plenty.

The Mulembe Night will be going down on the 30th of November 2012 at the Carnivore Grounds and aligned to perform on this night are Kabuchai Band, Webuye JuaKali Band, Phonotex band, Ingwe Sukuti band, Emkakha and Bungoma Root Band. Oh wait, almost forgot the one and only Lisanga Generation Band.

Entrance is Sh. 500.

Do Kenyan Music Reality Show Make A Splash?

I had an interesting conversation with a person i met on the rave in Lang’ata’s Off Road and we begun comparing and analysing the strengths in each of our individual nations.

Don’t get me wrong, i love Kenya and i’m a proud Kenyan but in this one Nigeria wins hands down. Nigerian singers who get a shot at fame through reality shows don’t dull to grab the spotlight. They go for it with Shark-like instincts. Let’s take one Nigerian example and 2 of Kenya’s finest examples.

And for our purposes i selected Chidinma from Nigeria and Valerie Kimani whom i feel is the most talented singer a Kenyan reality TV show has ever brought up and Ruth Matete.
In terms of strictly speaking talent, these 3 are indistinguishable. They are all talented beyond the shadows of any doubts but as always, there shall be haters but we refuse to listen to them or their tasteless opinions. Now nibling let’s go to their star potential.

Chidinma is pint sized and while that doesn’t take away from her talent, it means that she must iwork twice as hard to achieve stage presence. It’s a proven fact that tall people command attention. Ruth Matete and Valerie Kimani aren’t tall by any means but for female artists, it will do. Actually nay, i think they are a match on this one. Yet Chidinma has such stage presence it’s unbelievable! She takes to the stage and you have to put the beer down… Or turn to face her anyway.

Chidinma has been releasing track after track after track and each has been a hit from “Kedike” to “Jankoliko”. Valerie Kimani purposed to ignore the local audience and go for the international music listeners with her approach and inspite of this, her debut album “Baisikeli”. She launched the album and chose to return to Kenya to pursue acting. Then after some issues that unfolded in her personal life, she lost her opportunity to take both East Africa and Africa by storm.

Ruth Matete is still quietly working opn her debut but i’m wondering why it’s taking her so long. Chidinma was “discovered” on West Africa’s MTN Project Fame and both Valerie and Ruth were discovered by East Africa’s Tusker Project Fame. And i threw the gauntlet down by taunting my new found friend about Chidinma’s song Jankoliko in which she chides people for not wanting to hassle for theirs. I’m not saying that Ruth is lazy but the wait since TPF ended is too long for someone to put out a track. And what’s the point of putting out a track before you put out a couple of hits and singles? That’s how album sales dip to embarrassingly low levels.

Ruth should put out material before she puts out an album. Cultivate a following and give people a reason to look out for your album. At this point no one knows what sound she’s going for but an album is forthcoming. No one knows what demographic her music will target but an album is in the pipelines?

chidi-297x300.jpg
Chidinma has become a staple because we know several of her songs. However if what Alpha (another TPF winner) said about the structure at TPF and the type of contract has even a modicum of truth, then EABL aren’t looking to create stars. That in itself would mean that their winners are handicapped coming out because music stars are a product like Tusker and they need resources behind them. From producers to song writers to a marketing engine. But then again, Alpha recanted his Facebook rant so there is no truth in what he said.

Police Raid Grandpa Nite & Confiscate Equipment

The November edition of the monthly Grandpa Nite was held last weekend at the usual venue, Secrets Lounge. The MC Jahill and Libby-hosted event was expected to go on all night but police raided the joint at Viewpark Towers and cut the music showcase short.

The police stormed into the nightclub, stopped the music and carried away the mixing equipment despite the management having a 24-hour operating license. “Whats the meaning of that? All in all, shukran so much to our diehard fans kwa kujitokeza kwa jumla,” Grandpa ranted through their Facebook.

Expected to perform at the event were DNA, Ng’ang’alito, Dogo Biggie, TL-Moh, Pizo Dizo, Warda and Qty among others. Grandpa Nite is a monthly showcase of music from members of Refigah’s Grandpa Records.

Drama Galore at Coast’s Top Awards Ceremony

On Saturday, the biggest awards event at the Coast went down but it could not end without some drama. According to DJ Hover, things did not go well at this year’s Nzumari Awards.

First of all, emcee, comedian Jalang’o arrived late (at midnight) making the show to commence hours after the scheduled time. Another appalling thing is that artists who were slated to perform did not take to stage that night and those who did only sang one song. This made fans to boil with fury as they demanded to know why they paid to watch Diamond perform as stated in the posters only for him to disappoint them. And to add salt to injury, the “best explanation” the fans got was that since he’s set to perform at SeaFront on 1st of December he could not perform twice.

This year’s event also saw Coast-based artists receiving cold treatment as compared to their Tanzania & Nairobi companions who were given better treatment than them; a repeat of last year’s event held in Malindi. “Guys had their airtickets, accommodation, local transport and drinks paid for. Kumbuka, paid on confirmation to attend the occasion. Now they are enjoying around tukilia sisi! !!!!Tukatae hiyoo…”One Coast-based artist was heard saying.

DJ Hover also added that Coast artist Johnny Skani had an issue with the organizers claiming they used his picture and name on the poster without his consent and was not paid for that either. He immediately took to Facebook to vent his anger. “U put me on your event poster without me knowing.Just know that is a felony…….hey pliz pay me u used my name to pull yo crowd….” posted Skani on his FB timeline. Another industry player, Muscat Moreno also made known his frustrations, “One thing we should understnd, an award is not a gate collection event but a celebration of talents…so after 5yrs what do we have to smile about? Lets be real hizi awards r self centered n they r not building but killing the industry!”

The event organizers are yet to respond to these allegations.

Top five most dramatic Busted sessions with Ciku Muiruri

Ciku Muiruri hosts one of the most captivating and hilarious shows on Classic FM, known as BUSTED. In this show, some of the cheekiest and cunning personalities are caught live on radio with their lies and deceit.

Many have fallen from just a phone call from Ciku and this always leaves the audience in shock, disbelieve and most times, endless laughter.

These right here are the top five most dramatic busted sessions with Ciku Muiruri.

5. Busted Pastor
Remember this impostor of a pastor who slept with another man’s wife and impregnated her? After the pastor confesses to being the father of the unborn child, the husband calls and the pastor denies it all.

{youtube}GjjZHVF1EZA{/youtube}

4. Busted Mboch
This house help has a sugar daddy from abroad who sends her expensive gifts and it is through this that her husband busts her, as Ciku fakes delivery of a Perfume. This is one cold lass. She doesn’t even apologise to the husband. Infact, she is even more furious than he is because of being busted.

{youtube}aEV1yBxWjMw{/youtube}

3. Busted Chinese
A lady cheats on her husband with a Chinese construction manager and things get out of hand when the husband busts her on live radio telephone through Ciku Muiruri.

{youtube}1dLDfawLkk0{/youtube}

2. Busted Chidima
I still laugh every time I listen to this. It never gets old. A Nigerian lady busts her Kenyan boyfriend cheating on her and she goes ballistic. The dude begs for her forgiveness and you just won’t believe how he reasons with her. “…baby, I knew it was you on radio. I was just playing along.” Hilarious stuff.

{youtube}B-UMXkhhH74{/youtube}

1. Busted Snake
This is not funny at all, but it has all the drama you would get from a Soap Opera series, except with more horror scenes. A man comes home and finds his wife with a huge snake in the house. He starts seeing things, men walking in and out of his room with his wife and when he asks her what that’s all about, she says no one has been to the house and that there is no snake.
You really need to hear this for yourself to get the whole horror effect. Just click play.

Here is The First TV Station in Western Kenya

Finally people from Western Kenya have something to smile about after a television station fully dedicated to them has been set up. WTV, as it’s known, is the first television station in Western province.

WTV is a TV station specially made for Western Kenya and aims at getting the public informed about western and be entertained by western Kenya talents. Currently, WTV is only playing music as it prepares to launch soon under the digital platform.

The TV station has appointed former West FM General Manager Daniel Kwanutsu as the new TV chief; a move that is expected to spark rivalry considering West FM is also trying to also put up a TV station. Kwanutsu, who was very instrumental with set up West FM, said this will be a great opportunity for the story of western Kenya to be told across Kenya and the world. He added that he is working on plans to live stream WTV on the internet.

Bungoma, Webuye, Kakamega, Mumias, Malaba, Busia and its environs on Channel 114 on StarTimes decoders.

Here is part two of the Kenyan Gospel artistes in Illuminati video

I really don’t know what to make of these Illuminati claims any more. It is now too much. But then again, that is just my opinion. Some of the public out there actually believe in this nonsense, so, I will share with you the second part of the story I ran last week about Kenyan Gospel artistes in the Illuminati cult.

This video was done by one aspiring investigative journalist, Dennis Okare who strongly believes that there is more to the Kenyan entertainment industry than just music and sex scandals. He is convinced that they are all out to pull Kenyans into their web of deceit.

I cannot tell you what to believe, but you can definitely try it out for yourself.

Check out part two of the video below.

From Earning Kshs. 200 to Up To Kshs. 850,000 Per Gig: Kaytrixx’s Journey as a DJ

Kaytrixx explains how he started out as a DJ, how much he was paid back then and how much he commands now.

“I started out back in campus, late 2005 where I was introduced to Dj-ing by a few friends of mine who used to have a program called “Atomix” on their computers.

I remember very well, hehe, there is this song called Sandstorm by Darude and I mixed it with Heaven by DJ Sammy but it was a very bad mix, I had no idea what I was doing.

At the moment I did not have a computer so I did not DJ again till around late 2006. I installed Virtual DJ on my computer and started fooling around with it and before I knew it, I was playing music but I was still very bad. But after sleepless nights, I became quite good on Virtual DJ to the extent of making mixtapes for my fellow campus mates. I even sent a mix to my friend, DJ Lenium of Pwani FM, and he played it on his show.

In 2007, I got a small campus club called Soul Pit, DJ’d there for a while, used to get around 200 to 500 bob a night. Then I moved to another one called Comrades for the same amount and finally to another one called Frakaz in campus still.

In 2008, I was still using Virtual DJ but I now wanted to learn how to use decks. Unfortunately, there was no place where I could access decks so I was quite disappointed but House of Funk used to do events in Moi University. One day I asked if I could help out and they agreed so I did one event with them and I got to use decks.

I was then convinced by my friends to join Pilsner Mfalme competition, they even gave me fare to go to town in Eldoret. I tried out and to my surprise, I went through to the next stage which was Kisumu, then Nakuru and finally the finals in Nairobi where DJ Krowbar won but I was happy since I had learnt a lot.

In early 2009, I went back to Mombasa and played at Bella Vista Restaurant, I was paid Kshs. 1,000. I also used to play at a club called Dinners but I wasn’t paid anything, I just played three to five songs a night but I did not give up.

I came back to Nairobi and stayed in Rongai for a while just looking for work. I did an event at Pavement and was paid Kshs. 2,000. I remember it was alongside Crème, Hypnotiq and Nruff.

I had talked to CodeRED after the Pilsner Mfalme competition and they agreed I try out for the unit. I was given equipment to practice and fortunately I learnt very quickly and I managed to join the unit.

Started out slowly and learnt a lot, got into TV, did events in and out of the country and even though the exposure was awesome, things did not work out. I left the unit in January 2011 and started out on my solo career.

I work on TV (KTN’s Str8Up) and radio (Homeboyz) and have a lot of events in and out of the country. My rates nowadays are:

Kenya club show/wedding/house party/small event: Kshs. 30,000 – 60,000.
Kenya school/campus event: Kshs. 50,000 – 80,000.
Kenya corporate event: Kshs. 60,000 – 100,000.
Kenya concert (big show): Kshs. 80,000 – 100,000.
East Africa concert (big show): $2,000 (Kshs. 170,000) – $5,000 (Kshs. 425,000).
East Africa club show/wedding/small event: $1,000 (Kshs. 85,000) – $2,000 (Kshs. 170,000).
International event: $3,000 (Kshs. 255,000 – $10,000 (Kshs. 850,000).”

Super Producer Blackman & Nanjira Release Debut Single

Nanjira has finally released her first post-Ma3 single, Walking.

The mellow track reminds me of the Shock Value-era Timbaland. The song talks about someone walking out of an undesirable situation in life, understandably, more likely to be interrupted as a relationship.

Nanjira’s debut is inspiring and the sound is totally different from what we were earlier used to when she in a band. Her new sound is mellow and aptly fits the track’s mood.

Walking was written and produced by Blackman and performed by Nanjira. Blackman is mostly known as a producer but lately also for writing as he did on Sara Mitaru and Bez’s Keep Me From You. Check out Nanjira’s solo debut below.

Top 5 Most Successful Young Artistes

So here’s a list of the top five most successful young (below 21 years) artistes in the Kenyan music scene.

#1 Camp Mulla

Consisting of Taio Tripper, Shappa Man, Miss Karun, K’Cous and Mykie Tuchi; this teen hip hop group has reached greater more than some of the veteran musicians have ever dreamt of. This year, the group became the first ever Kenyan act to be nominated for a BET award in the “Best International Act – Africa”. Even though the group did not win the accolade, it only goes to show how a great force Camp Mulla has become. Camp Mulla has also earn nominations in other international awards such as the Headies, Channel O Music Video Awards (CHOMVA), MOBO Awards (UK’s equivalent of BET) and MTV Europe Music Awards (EMAs) this year alone!!! The group has also won multiple awards at CHAT (Chaguo la Teeniez) and most recently at the Kisima Awards. Apart from the accolades, Camp Mulla has also performed at events of international magnitude. Last year, the group was the opening act for Nigerian duo, P-Square, and Naeto C at the Carnivore during Naija 9te. Camp Mulla also performed during the first eviction show at this year’s Big Brother Africa (BBA7). In a nutshell, Camp Mulla’s track record speaks for itself.

#2 Willy Paul

Willy Paul burst into the Gospel music scene with his with his song, Rabuka, which took the industry by storm, before long he featured Gloria Muliro to make one of the biggest songs in the country, Sitolia. It’s this song that won the 19 year old New Artist of the Year Award during this year’s Groove Awards. After Sitolia, Willy Paul released another hit, Mpenzi, which is currently enjoying substantial airtime on local media. He is also attributed for bringing in the industry the Bongo style of Gospel music. Though rocked with controversy not so long ago, Willy Paul is rearing to go, promising to drop another huge tune in coming days as he prepares to shoot a new video in two weeks at the KICC.

#3 Mr Seed

For Mr Seed, real name, Moses Tarus Omondi, every day is a thanksgiving day to God. The 19 year old Gospel artiste has achieved so much at his age. Having shot into the scene last year with his jam, You Called Me, it blessed a lot of people then quickly followed it with Papa God Ooh featuring MOG. Mr Seed quickly kept up the tempo with another track, Wello Wello featuring Dunco & Ngashville. He did not stop there as he went ahead to do another hit, Follow Follow. And now that he just completed High School last week, he already has to tracks (Wangu & Uskonde) which he’s about to release. Mr Seed is the only artiste to receive double accolades at Mwafaka Awards. He also won the Best Collabo of the Year Award alongside MOG during the 2011 Kisima Awards. Mr Seed is also a Groove Awards nominee. This youngster is the real definition of persistence and hardwork having been displaced during the 2007 PEV. He’s attributed for introducing the “Naija effect” in Kenyan Gospel music.

#4 Xtatic
For 21 year old Gloria Mecheo has had the most successful year in her music career. In a span of just 5 months, she has seen her career head skyward; from putting up an unfinished track on YouTube in March 2012 to signing a record deal with Sony Music Entertainment Africa, a management deal with Rockstar 4000 and recording her first ever album produced by The Fahrenheitz. And she’s not stopping there; earlier this month she revealed her ambitions of getting into the movie business, from acting, producing, directing movies, down to music videos.

#5 Jay A

At only 19 years and starting his music career, Juma Ali AKA Jay A has already rubbed shoulders with some of the top musicians in the country. Jay A was featured in “Bila Mic remix” alongside Collo, Octopizzo and Rabbit (Kaka Sungura). He was also in STL’s “Stella Stella Stella remix” where he rapped along with Sinzu (Nigeria), Kanja The Afrikan King (US-Kenya), Big Trill (Uganda) and Mwana FA (Tanzania). Besides that he has two dope videos; in the first one he features HBR’s hot presenter, Amina, known as “On Me” while he does it alone in the second video, “Clap Yo Hands”. Both videos were produced by Boomba.

Maina And King’angi In The Morning: Women Who Cheat A Day Before The Wedding!

And today Maina and King’ang’i were discussing wedding committees and the fact that there is apparently something sinister about them.

This was apparently brought about by an article in today’s Crazy Monday which claimed that more often than not, both the groom and bride cheat on each other just a day before walking down the aisle.
The first caller called in and said that it’s usually a fear of commitment and even called it cleansing yourself! He went on to say that if a member of your committee is missing and so is your bride, she’s cleansing.
And yet another caller called in to say that it isn’t right because these are the women who go on to cheat even in the marriage. if his wife cheats during their marriage, he would assume that she is one of the women who cheated during either her stag-do or her committee meetings.

RADIO_STUDIO.jpg
Yet another called in to say that these days there is no such thing as love. That women marry for financial considerations. Maina interjected and asked who appoints the committee which prompted the response that the women usually create them and in these committees, hidden in the open are their lovers.
At this point let me interject and say that i am astounded that people were calling in because it means that they have been on either end of the spectrum…
Maina asked the million dollar question of the week when he asked ladies how they reconcile their conscience to the fact that they are cheating just a day before the weeding. A caller rang to say that his bestfriend asked him to chaperon his wife to be but the bridal party asked him to drop them then pick them up. So he did that and when he came earlier than expected, he found strippers. Later on, his bestfriend’s fiancee -who was stone cold sober- propositioned him and he went on to sleep with his best friend’s fiancee. This mugu then justified his sheer stupidity by saying that there is nothing wrong with what he did. He even propositioned this man’s wife and she refuses. i think this man na mugu! He is a stupid one! He even tells his friend that he has a very good wife!
A caller called in to say that today’s callers have his eyes popping out of their sockets. He said that the chap that called in about sleeping with his frind’s fiancee is a fool! That poor hubby should analyse his friendship with the man and as i would like to add, his wife aswell.
A female caller called in to say today’s topic isn’t that bad. These things happen and their are crazier things that happen. It’s not that bad because it’s fear of commitment and eventually these people leave all these things behind. the problem is people who do this and carry on after the wedding. Maina said he needs a whiskey and i think that on that note, i’m going to have one meself!
Why would you claim to love someone whom you cheated on just the day before you walk down the aisle? a female caller called in to say that she travelled and met a Ugandan man whom she has to give the P! But once she gets married she intends to be faithful. Her wedding day is set for 30th of December but she will spend the 29th with this chap. and here’s where i pull out the ratchet card and wozam slap with it!

LEO the movie

The Kenyan movie industry has been taking leaps and bounds with locally produced and directed movies getting worldwide attention and scooping various awards across the globe.

With the recent runaway success of Nairobi Half Life, yet another inspirational film is set to take Kenya and the world by storm. Its name: LEO the movie.

Leo has just been screened to a select group of media houses today, at the Planet Media Cinemas at West Gate Shopping Mall, Nairobi. It will officially premiere on November 29 at a red carpet reception.

Directed by Jinna Mutune, LEO is a fairytale-fiction story set in modern day Nairobi. It is a story about a young Maasai boy, raised in a low-income home, who despite all odds is bent on achieving his dream. Being shot down by those closest to him (his own brother) as having his head in the clouds, the inspirational tale of this young boy is sure to resonate with all Kenyans and touch viewers across the board. The movie is sure to prove that super heroes do exist, not only in our imagination, but in our reality too.

The lead role ‘Leo’ is played by child actor Trevor Gitonga (more commonly known from M-Net produced series Changes). Trevor acts alongside Hollywood’s David Morin and the film is generously dotted by cameos from some of Kenya’s biggest public figures: Chris Kirubi, Jeff Koinange, Paddy Mwangi (you might remember him as Fresh Freddy) and Gowi Odera among others.

Director Jinna Mutune is a newcomer to the Kenyan film scene, but has no shortage of works she has already directed and produced. From short films to music videos and theatrical plays, her debut feature film benefits from her experience working in film both in America and Africa.

Jinna has a degree from renowned South African School of Motion Picture Medium and Live Performance (AFDA, Cape Town, South Africa) and in Film Studies from the Houston Community College in Texas, USA.

Executive produced by business mogul Chris Kirubi, Bernard Wambugu, Chris Kirubi, Julian Kyula, Donald Gichane. Soundtrack partly provided by Kenyan music group, Sauti Sol. The principal cinematography by Abe Martinez (worked on Spider Man, Anger Management, Fast and the Furious, ALI, 30 for 30) –IMDb profile. Composed by Jaaz Odongo and produced by Paul Masinde. This ensemble super-crew does not disappoint in the delivery of what can only be anticipated to be Kenya’s next blockbuster.

All in all, LEO is a simple story that captures the essence of a child’s heart still open to all the posssibilities of achieving his dream in “Kenya” Africa.

Do you believe these Illuminati stories of these Kenyan Gospel artistes? (Video)

His name is Dennis Okare, an aspiring investigative journalist digging deep into the Kenyan entertainment industry in search of the filth that lies within.

Have you ever watched an American footage that feature Jay Z’s ‘Illuminati’ life, together with his wife and the rest? Well, this is that sort of video, except for the fact that this one is entirely focusing on Kenyan gospel artiste.

This guy goes in deep to tell us what he thinks we need to know and are ignorant about it. He has put together what seems to be his clues and evidence to prove these artistes’ connection with the World Wide Cult in this video below.

Missed the Fashion After Dark epic event? Here is the video

After seeing this video of how the Fashion After Dark went down at the SkyLuxx Lounge last week, I am now the saddest raver in the Ghafla office. I can’t believe I missed this.

I refuse to go through this alone. I will share this sorrow with everyone else that missed this epic event.

With that said, please watch the video below (those that did not attend the event). I assure you, there is a lot you will find interesting here. Check it out.

6 Things You Need To Know About the Entertainment Company Bringing Chris Brown to Kenya

The Spartan Group’s Sam Lentz recently spoke to Stevens Muendo of The Pulse ahead of Chris Brown’s African Tour and revealed some things about the entertainment company;

#1 It’s Spartan Group which brought Akon to Kenya recently for two successful concerts.

#2 The group is planning to bring Jay Z, Shakira, Usher and Justin Bieber as it has direct links with the artistes’ managers.

#3 Spartan Group does not benchmark ticket prices against the number of beers that could be bought for the equivalent of a concert ticket. This is what has made music promoters and artistes to keep off Kenya arguing that Kenyans value beer more than a fitting concert.

#4 The entertainment company is working to make sure that that ticket prices are affordable to all despite the fact that it’s expensive on their end to bring A-list artistes to Kenya.

#5 Spartan Group does not hesitate to seek support from the media and blue chip firms when organizing to fly in an international artiste.

#6 Despite having its HQ in South Africa, the group favoured Kenya for Chris Brown’s first performance on his Africa tour before he proceeds down south and later on Dubai and maybe Harare.

As a plea to other showbiz promoters, Lentz had this to say, “The problem here is that everyone is jealous of the other. People keep on backstabbing each other and end up tarnishing our showbiz image. Once these changes, the industry will grow. Fans are ready”
